CASE 4000: NETANYAHU CONFIDANT REPORTEDLY TO TURN STATE'S WITNESS

Suspended Communications Ministry director-general Shlomo Filber, a confidant of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was expected to sign a state’s witness deal on Tuesday night as part of police investigation Case 4000.

Filber is reportedly suspected of bribery, fraud, breach of trust and other offenses, it was revealed on Tuesday.

He allegedly was Netanyahu’s “long-arm” in this case, and acted in his name in several deals that were allegedly done with the Bezeq telecommunications company and an attempt to sell the Walla media outlet. Filber’s testimony is reportedly expected to incriminate the prime minister.

The Justice Ministry refused to confirm or deny the report.

The state’s witness deal that is on offer to Filber does not include time in prison, said a Kan – Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation report.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF, in fact these reports are true, it will serve to accelerate every war which Netanyahu wants the US to fight for it, including wars against Syria; Lebanon; and Iran.

Lebanon ready to confront any ‘Israeli aggression at all costs’ – army

The Lebanese army has reaffirmed its readiness to confront the “Israeli aggression” by any means at its disposal if the ongoing disputes and already tense relations between the neighbors escalate into an armed confrontation.
“I reaffirm again our categorical rejection of the Israeli enemy infringing on Lebanon’s sovereignty and its sacred right to exploit all its economic resources,” General Joseph Aoun said, as quoted by the Lebanese army. “The army will not spare any method available to confront any Israeli aggression, whatever that costs.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Tillerson and Satterfield are completely wasting their time here; the IDF has their game plan for an invasion of Lebanon, and the Lebanese Military and Hezbollah, have theirs for defending it.

This is not a question of if an armed conflict will break out between these two countries, as Israel's Netanyahu sees any conflict as a distraction from corruption charges which have been suggested against him; it is only a question of when.

ISRAEL IS DIRECTLY ARMING AT LEAST 7 SYRIAN REBEL GROUPS

Israel’s mounting interest in Syria’s War, and in particular in picking fights with the Assad government, Iran, and any other Shi’ite factions in the country, have included reports by analysts of a growing amount of Israeli arms and ammunition flowing across the border for rebels.

Officially, Israel isn’t a big fan on Sunni Islamist organizations. Such groups are the bulk of the rebellion on the Golan frontier, and that’s made them groups Israel has a very serious interest in seeing survive and thrive on the border.

Israeli officials have been very public in the past saying they prefer ISIS over the Alawite government in Syria. Expressing such a preference and arming terrorists are two different things, and Israel’s effort to step up arming for Islamist groups risks regional blowback.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Now that corruption charges have been recommended against Netanyahu, expect a brisk acceleration of everything he is trying to to accomplish regime change in Lebanon; Syria; and Iran. And from Sunday's LA Times, we have the following development:

Netanyahu in deeper peril as more Israeli officials are arrested on corruption charges

I originally expected such an uptick in regional Middle East conflict when he returned from addressing AIPAC here in Washington DC in the beginning of March, then seeing what President Trump was actually willing to "greenlight", in terms of US military response and involvement, once the two had met.

However, right now, he is a politcally wounded animal; and all animals are at their most dangerous when they are wounded.

I frankly am expecting much more geopolitical madness from Netanyahu, and soon, because losing the power and prestiege of the office of Prime Minister, under the conditions of an actual conviction on these charges, will leave him with no "cover" like that his current position affords him.

Hezbollah Leader Threatens "We Will Open Fire" On Disputed Israeli Offshore Oil & Gas Operations

During a televised address in Beirut on Friday Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah once again warned Israel to back off its claims over disputed oil and gas field just off the southern Lebanese coast, threatening that Hezbollah could "disable [Israel’s offshore oil installations] within hours."

"If you prevent us, we prevent you; if you open fire at us, we will open fire," Nasrallah threatened.

The dispute over the eastern Mediterranean gas field goes back to January 2017, but blew up starting in late January of this year as it has been put up for tender by Lebanon and is expected to be developed by an international consortium of energy companies. However, as we reported at the time Israel has aggressively pushed for major sectors of the field to be internationally recognized as lying within its rightful territorial waters, going so far as to warn "respectable" companies from participating in the tender, which would be a "major mistake".

ISRAEL IS TIGHT-ROPE WALKING AROUND ANOTHER DEVASTATING CONFLICT

For a second week in a row, Israel has seen severe security incidents on its borders which, with one small miscalculation, could have very easily somersaulted into another devastating conflict in the region.

Last week an Israeli F-16 was downed after Syrian air defenses launched some 20 missiles towards Israeli jets carrying out retaliatory strikes deep inside the war-torn country after an Iranian drone infiltrated Israeli airspace.

Beirut Calls US Proposal on Israel-Lebanon Maritime Borders Unacceptable - Media

Earlier, Lebanon's President Michel Aoun has said that Beirut was looking for the United States' "effective role" in resolving the brewing standoff over the offshore oil areas between Lebanon and Israel.

Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri told US diplomat David M. Satterfield, who also met Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri, that the Washington-proposed plan on the maritime border between Israel and Lebanon "unacceptable."

"What is proposed is unacceptable," Lebanon's NNA cited Berri as saying. It is unclear what the US has offered to Lebanon concerning the disputed waters in the Mediterranean Sea.

Lebanon rejects US proposal on maritime borders with Israel

Speaker of Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri on Friday told the state National News Agency (NNA) that a US proposal concerning the disputed Lebanon-Israel maritime border was “unacceptable.”

During a meeting with the acting Assistant US Secretary of State David Satterfield, Berri stressed that the borders could only be demarcated based on the April 1996 Understanding between Israel and Hizbullah, which was brokered by the US to end the conflict initiated by Israel’s Grapes of Wrath operation. After the conflict, a Monitoring Committee was set up to implement the Understandings; it was composed of US, France, Syria, Israel and Lebanon

Hizbullah Today: Of Power, Money, and… the People.

By Brett Redmayne-Titley

[Note: This is Part Four of a multi-part expose direct from Istanbul and Lebanon. Please see Part One, Part Two and Part 3 for information not repeated here.]

With the last shot of the 2006 war fired and the IDF moving back into Israel, Lebanon began to heal its wounds. At the same time, Hizbullah, that had so successfully turned back the tides of war, began to rebuild – this time in new ways.

Using the respect it had gained by fighting for all of Lebanon, while the Lebanese army looked on from safe havens to the north, Hizbullah began the decade-long process of moving from purely a defensive military to a full-faceted political organization. Leader Nasrallah has been consistent, methodical and unwavering in these nationalist goals and by doing so has dragged the previously Western-aligned Lebanese political parties into having to similarly support their country first or die at the ballot box. All signs point to resounding success...

Protesting that this quest is well-intentioned, no secret and no threat, this friend provides probably the most important council, and most accurate statement, in properly understanding today’s modern Hizbullah.

“You do not understand well about Hizbullah,” he says, the seriousness of his face indicating his sincerity. “You do not see Hizbullah… they see you!”

His caution and commentary prove to be a very accurate description of today’s Hizbullah...

Putting annexation row behind them, Netanyahu, Trump set March meet

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with US President Donald Trump next month when he visits Washington for the annual AIPAC confab, a White House official said Wednesday.

The meeting will come after the White House shot down Netanyahu’s assertion Monday that the US and Israel were discussing proposals for Israel to annex West Bank settlements, marking an unprecedented rebuke of the prime minister by the Trump administration.

The AIPAC conference, an annual gathering of pro-Israel figures, is scheduled from March 4-6 in Washington.

An official told Israel’s Hadashot news that the annexation kerfuffle “is already water under the bridge and has no consequence to our relationship with Netanyahu.”

Netanyahu’s comment Monday was made at a faction meeting of his right-wing Likud party, whose top body unanimously passed a resolution in December urging its leaders to formally annex parts of the West Bank and allow unlimited construction in the settlements.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Every time an Israeli Prime Minister makes the pilgrimage to DC, I get somewhat nervous; but this particular meeting between President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu, has me literally close to an industrial-strength panic attack.

And why?!?

First, because Netanyahu may be charged with corruption charges, which makes him a politically wounded animal; and the "human animal" is at their most dangerous when they are politically wounded.

The same holds true for Netanyahu; and that will probably escalate the timetable for more attacks on Syria; Lebanon, and perhaps Iran.

Secondly, it is at these kinds of meetings where the President "signs off" on just how much mayhem he or she would "greenlight" for Israel in their next phase of grabbing more territory to itself.

This meeting comes in about 3 weeks; and these two have a very tight friendship.

But I very strongly caution the President about making any moves to greenlight any actions against Iran, or commiting to US troops to fighting in order to accomplish regime change in Tehran.

Tel Aviv wants to see this happen; however, primarily at the costs of American blood, and American money.

We'll know what transpired between the two probably the middle of next month, courtesy of movements both in the air, and on the ground in the Middle East, in terms of military activity we see by either Israel and/or the US.

Animosity Toward US Brings Turkey, Russia, and Iran Together for Summit on Syria

The leadership of Turkey, Iran, and Russia have all agreed to attend an upcoming summit in Istanbul on the topic of Syria, with the date for the meeting to be decided soon. Looming large over this is US relations.

Those three nations have met in the past on trying to get a peace process going in Syria, but right now the big issue on all their minds is increasing hostility from the US.

Turkey’s invasion of northern Syrian Kurdish territory has them facing potential conflict with US troops embedded in Manbij. The Pentagon has made clear their presence in Syria is at least in part intended now to fight Iran, and over the past week, US forces killed scores of Russians in the east.

These three nations weren’t seemingly all seeing eye-to-eye on Syria, but the acrimony with the US risks being a major unifier for them, with countering the US agenda in Syria likely a top priority for all.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The invasion of Syria by the US military demonstrates just how lousy US foreign policy, seemingly driven by wanting a "revenge death match" against both Al Assad and Putin, for kicking out US-backed jihadists in Syria, is now going from bad to unimaginably worse.

My sense is that the refusal of the US military to get its troops out of Manbij, where they are embedded with Kurdish fighting forces, is going to translate into a situation where these troops will become the US government's "sacrificial lambs" with which to justify further incursions into Syria, and direct military conflict with Russia, and potentially against Turkish troops in Syria as well.

NATO members met yesterday and today, in a series of meetings chaired by NATO Secretary-General, Jens Stoltenberg.

NATO meeting held 14-15 February, in Brussels.

I am sure that Turkey - and its invasion of Syria - is very much on their minds.

Will NATO ultimately vote to intervene in Syria militarily, should the US ask it to?!?

Stranger things have happened.

POLICE RECOMMEND NETANYAHU BE INDICTED FOR BRIBERY ON TWO CHARGES

Israel Police recommended indicting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for bribery and breach of trust in two cases Tuesday night, Israel's Channel 2 and Channel 10 reported.

After a 14-month-long investigation, police announced on Tuesday that it found enough evidence to recommend the state’s prosecution to indict Netanyahu for bribery and breach of trust in Case 1000, the “gifts affair" and Case 2000, the "Yediot Aharanot Affair."

The prime minister, in the past, rejected both allegations claiming that "it is not illegal to accept gifts from friends" and that "Nothing will happen because nothing happened."

At this stage, the prosecution and Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit will examine the evidence that police collected throughout the investigations, and will later decide whether to actually indict the prime minister or not.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With these corruption charges against him, Prime Minister Netanyahu is about to become as geopolitcally dangerous as is a wounded animal.

Watch for these charges accelerate everything Netanyahu may be thinking about doing militarily in Syria; Iran; and Lebanon.

President Trump, just please be aware that this might be happening, and soon.

Another Unnecessary War: Israel is Planning to Launch a Military Operation against Lebanon

The writing is already on the wall: Israel will soon launch a military operation in Lebanon. Not a targeted attack on a weapons convoy or factory, but a simultaneous attack on Hezbollah’s missile production and launch sites. The operation will take place at the same time as, or immediately after, a series of assassinations of known Hezbollah operatives. That organization will, of course, react by launching a massive missile barrage at population centers in Israel, and Hamas may contribute its share in the south. Last week we were informed that missile interceptor systems have already been deployed throughout the country as part of a joint “drill” between the IDF and the U.S. military. Washington has already given a green light, or so we learn from Thomas Friedman’s most recent column — a faithful mouthpiece of American foreign policy.

Russia in the Crosshairs

Eric Zuesse notes that only Syria and Russia complain about Washington’s illegal occupation of Syrian territory, an occupation that has no UN authorization and is a complete and total violation of international law, and Israel’s continual attacks on Syria.

Washington’s continuing support for war against the legitimate government of Syria and support for Israeli and terrorist attacks on Syrian and Russian forces are undermining Russia’s efforts to bring peace to the region. Zuesse also notes that Washington and its UK puppet block all UN action against Washington’s illegality.

Zuesse is correct. But is the continuation of Washington’s campaign against Syria and Russia largely the fault of Russia? Stephen Lendman makes a case that it is Russia’s fault.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would argue that Russia doesn't wish to get into direct military conflict with the US in Syria, because it understands that this could well generate more wars with the US, which for reasons I will articulate later, which the US and NATO appear to be gung-ho to fight, putting Russia in the position of being forced to fight both in Syria, and in Ukraine.

Putin is moving heaven and earth to avoid that happening, understanding full well that the current anti-Russian hysteria in Congress and beyond, may well be a prelude to the larger war he is trying to prevent.

Putin has a very real world understanding of just what a world war does to the people who fight it; the civilian populations enduring it and the bitter physical results to places which have been utterly destroyed by wars; and because he has a very clear understanding of what World War II did to his country, he does not want to see it repeated, not in Ukraine, Syria, or Iran.

Steve Lendman, whose work I greatly respect, and frequently link to, needs to understand the following; like a giant ant, the US government is "trapped in the amber" of an absolutely unrepayable debt load, toward which the current spending legislation is adding, big-time.

The US government desperately needs a war with which to attempt to "misdirect" the American people about the reasons why their standards of living have slipped horrendously, as US government debt grows, unchecked, and there are many in the "bowels of power" in DC, who believe that a good war will be just the ticket to get the US government out of its debtload, and back on its feet.

Israel, with its recent attacks on Syria, against Syrian and the (alleged) Iranian presence will hardly stop now. They will continue these attacks until someone strikes back, or, allegedly has struck back, courtesy of an Israeli/US generated false flag.

Sooner or later, the US military will be called upon by Israel for a general invasion of Syria, "to defend Israel's right to exist", and to affect regime change in Damascus; The optics here mean that Iran most probably will not let this stand, so we will see Iran join the fray as well, on Syria's side.

For Russia, it painfully clear that the breakaway former areas of Ukraine, and Ukraine itself, are preparing for another round of military conflict.
Monitors warn of Preparations for a Fresh Surge in Fighting in Ukraine

This is where NATO will most likely be assisting the Ukrainians militarily, to attempt to gain back some of their purpose and credibility, and the US has already sided with Ukraine should the conflict escalate. After all, President Trump has signed off on supplying Ukraine with anti-tank weapons.
US to send anti-tank missiles to Ukraine By now, those weapons should have been delivered to the Ukrainian military.

So we will, I believe, have Russia - and the US - fighting on several different fronts, with NATO fighting against Russia in Ukraine, assisted by the US; Syrian, Iran, and Russia, fighting the US and Israel in Syria (and possibly against Iran) in a major war there.

I would like to hope to hell that I am absolutely wrong on this assessment; however, current events, particularly the major strike by the Israel's IDF against Syria last week, compels me to conclude, at the moment, that this is how the geopolitics of the next great war are going to play out.

THE OPEN WAR WITH IRAN HAS BEGUN

(Please be aware: this op-ed is how the Jpost is covering the events of yesterday. It takes outright lies and shapes them into propaganda, somewhat akin to what a magician does to create balloon animals, to advance their agenda of an open war against both Syria and Iran. ckr).

"This was long in the making. Years ago, the Iranians came to the rescue of Bashar Assad in Syria and, together with Russia, ensured his survival. The problem is that they haven’t left. On the contrary – even though Assad is today in control of the majority of Syria, Iran is staying put and trying to establish an even greater presence within the country. On Saturday, we saw how determined it is to do just that.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Yesterday, Russia's President Putin warned Israel's Netanyahu that there needed to be "restraint" on the part of all parties here, and that the Israeli bombings should not be permitted to endanger Russia Troops on the Ground.

Putin urges Netanyahu to avoid escalation in Syria.

Yesterday, Netanyahu made the following statements:

Netanyahu Vows To Defend Israel Against Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he has spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the latest developments in the region.

Netanyahu says Saturday that he informed Putin of Israel's intention to continue defending itself against any aggression and to prevent Iran from establishing a presence "in Syria or anywhere else."

The questions come to mind: What precisely is Iran doing in Syria which causes Netanyahu to play the "self-defense" card, when it is essentially Israel which is the aggressor here?!?

When you invade a sovereign country, like Syria, and shoot bombs to destroy targets on the ground, is that not an act of war, rather than alleged "self-defence"?!?

By weasel-wording his language, (how Orwellian of Netanuahu, but he is sooo damned clever at this, as we have observed over the years), he is defining Israel aggression as acts of "defense"; and that, by international standards, should be indefensible.

Where is the incontrovertible proof, please?!?

But of course, neither Netnayahu, or the author of this codswallop, wants proof and truth; they want to escalate this into a full-blown regional war, until there is regime change in Damascus, and Tehran.

And of course, when it comes to actual blood and money to be spent on achieving those objectives, Tel Aviv thoroughly wants it to be American blood and American money spent; not Israeli.

Suffice to say, the air is thick with innuendos and dark hints that Russia and Turkey may have drawn each other’s blood on February 3, despite notionally being allies in Syria’s hybrid war.

Aoun: Lebanon military ready to confront Israel

Lebanese President Michel Aoun says he has ordered the country's armed forces to confront any attempt by Israel to undermine Lebanon's sovereignty, as Israeli officials stir more territorial tensions with Beirut.

Lebanon will be blown back to the ‘Stone Age,’ Minister Katz warns

Echoing messages conveyed to Iran and Hezbollah by the prime minister and IDF spokesperson, the transportation minister tells Ynet that ‘Israel has set a red line—it won’t allow Lebanon to become a factory for the production of precision-guided missiles for Iran’; Education Minister Bennett clarifies: ‘If missiles are fired from Lebanon, Nasrallah will become Lebanon’s destroyer.’

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz on Sunday warned Hezbollah that Lebanon would go back to “the Stone Age” and maybe even to “the age of cavemen” if it turned into an Iranian factory of precision-guided weapons.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why does this Israeli accusation appear to have all the trappings (and "total lack of proof" look like President Bush's claim that "Iraq had weapons of Mass Destruction"?!?

The intelligent thing for Israel to have done (as a Member of the UN, as is Lebanon, and as is Iran), was to request the UN weapons agency, and the IAEA teams to reach an agreement to inspect Lebanon's alleged "Iranian Weapons factories" to see if these accusations hold water.

Of course, the Israeli government isn't using these threats as a means for creating a peaceful, reasoned resolution to their fears; these threats are simply a prelude to the coming war against Lebanon and Hezbollah.

But one really has to wonder; will the coming Israeli/Lebanon war about these alleged "Iranian weapons factories here, or about a disputed oil tender the Lebanese have put out over underseas natural gas deposits which Israel claims as its own?!? As reported a couple of days ago by newsweek.com:

Israel Increases Threats to Attack Lebanon

Israel has relatively frequent moments of stepping up war rhetoric, and these days that is aimed squarely at Lebanon, with officials openly threatening to force all of Beirut into bomb shelters and bragging about the impact the war will have on the Lebanese civilian population.

It’s less a question of Israel needing to attack Lebanon than them wanting to attack Lebanon, with analysts openly calling it a “war of choice.” Israel’s far-right government considers war with everyone and everything inevitable, and argues at times like this that a war now is preferable to a war later.

It’s not clear the US is totally on board with this, however, with US officials playing up their intention to keep supporting the Lebanese military, even as Israel vows to destroy it. This is an unusual public dispute.

JEZ TELLS LABOUR MPS TO LOBBY AGAINST HEZBOLLAH BAN

The JC has a story this morning that Labour has asked its MPs to oppose a motion calling for the political wing of Hezbollah to be banned in Britain. The document, produced by Diane Abbott’s Shadow Home Affairs team, tells Labour MPs to lobby ministers against proscribing the terror group, even giving them suggested questions to ask in the Commons:

“Does the Minister agree with a balanced approach: that we condemn pursuing political ends by violent means in the current proscription of the military wing of Hizballah but acknowledge the difficulties for a lasting settlement in the Middle East if the political wing was proscribed?”

Air Raids and Missile Attacks Show Israel Flexing Its Muscles in Syria

Israeli jets and ground-to-ground missile attacks on targets in the outskirts of Damascus are a mark of Israel’s heightened concern as President Bashar al-Assad comes close to winning the civil war in Syria. Israel’s security cabinet has held meetings several times in recent days to discuss how it should respond to the “day-after” the war as Syria returns to Mr Assad’s control and to Iran’s expanded influence in Syria according to Israeli television reports.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel’s policy was to stop Hezbollah moving “game-changing weapons” out of Syria into Lebanon. “We back it [the policy] up as necessary with action,” he added. Israel has carried out more than 100 air strikes against Syrian Army and Hezbollah arms depots and military facilities in the past six years.

Uber driver 'admits murder' of British diplomat found dead in Beirut

An Uber driver has reportedly admitted murdering a British diplomat in Lebanon. Rebecca Dykes’ body was found on the side of a motorway near Beirut on Saturday, sparking a major police investigation.

According to Lebanon’s NNA agency, officers raided a property in the early hours of Monday morning, resulting in the arrest of an Uber driver named only as Tarek H. He has reportedly admitted picking up the diplomat in his taxi before attempting to rape her and strangling her.

Police sources say Dykes, who was due to fly home for Christmas on Saturday, had been strangled. An initial post-mortem examination was conducted, but an official cause of death was not revealed. A second examination has been scheduled.

Local officials have confirmed claims she was raped, however this has not been verified.

Observer on US Threats of Anti-Iran Coalition: 'We've Heard About It Since 1979

Washington has warned Iran that it will build an "international coalition" against Tehran after presenting what it said was proof of Iranian-made weapons deliveries to Yemen. Speaking to Sputnik, Iranian political observer Ali Reza Rezahah said his country has been hearing similar, baseless threats and accusations from the US for decades.

At a press conference in a military hangar outside Washington, DC on Thursday in front of what she said were remnants of Iranian-made missiles systems used against the Saudi-led coalition by the Houthi rebels, US UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said that the United States would respond to Iran's "aggression" and support for "terrorist groups" with the creation of a new international coalition.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This reeks of the same codswallop used by President Bush to "sell" the American people on the war against Iraq.

After that, I cannot believe anything anyone in the US government has to say, and certainly not these lies about Iranian weapons capability being used against Saudi Arabia.

Dec 15 10:56

Iraq, Syria, Iran…Are We To Destroy Iran Next?

The Cato report linked above, The Risks of Confrontation with Iran, explains the four confrontation options. These are:

— New, tighter economic sanctions

–Challenging Iranian influence in the region

–Regime change from within

–Starting a war

The Cato conclusion is that America’s best policy option would be for further engagement with Iran to strengthen its more moderate political factions and weaken its hardliners. America used to be widely popular among younger Iranians who want peace and prosperity, not mullahs and wars. The greater threat is Washington’s military-industrial-Congress complex which so benefits from unending wars.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What the Cato Institute Report is advocating, is completely, utterly logical; this is why the American Deep State and warhawks will reject it out of hand.

And please remember: Should the US and Saudi Arabian military go to war against Iran, it is highly likely that the Russians will jump into the fray to protect it.

And as we have seen from Russia's grand finale in Syria, Russia has weapons which actually work as advertised.

Pence delays Middle East trip in case needed for U.S. tax vote

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence will delay an upcoming Middle East trip by a few days in case a tie-breaking vote is needed from him for tax cut legislation in Congress, a senior White House official said on Thursday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Reuters, Reuters, Reuters; this is really a "lipstick on a pig" moment for you, and the optics of this lame excuse are just officially horrible.

No one in the Middle East, except, perhaps Bibi Netanyahu, wants to recieve Pence because of President Trump's announcement, last week, that he recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The Palestinians, and leaders of other Middle Eastern countries now understand that the US government can never, ever again be considered as an honest broker of peace in the region, will always favor Israel, no matter what it does, and collectively has the morals of a dead tree stump.

President Trump threw the Palestinian people under a bus last week, most probably in return for a $100 million dollar campaign donation from Sheldon Adelson in 2016, and the Palestinians have every right to be infuriated.

That fury resulted in the following action on the part of Abbas:

Abbas won't meet U.S. Vice President Pence: official

That the President did not understand that there would be severe international consequences to his act last week of recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital indicates one of two things; he is either painfully naive, or is getting some really hideous advice from his "President Whisperers" when it comes to thorny geopolitical issues in the Middle East.

On Saudi Media, «Israeli» Minister Threatens to Strike Lebanon Like Syria

In an interview with Saudi media on Wednesday, the "Israeli" entity's so-called Intelligence Affairs Minister Yisrael Katz threatened to attack Lebanon to prevent an Iranian military presence, as he invited Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman to visit the entity.

Saudi Arabia and the "Israeli" entity had recently been normalizing ties, although both countries do not share diplomatic ties.

Describing Saudi Arabia as the leader of the Arab world, Katz proposed that the kingdom would be a sponsor of the so-called "Israeli"-Palestinian "peace process". Katz added that the entity would be happy to participate in such negotiations.

Katz said the entity is aware that Iran has been building alleged weapons plants in Lebanon. "We have information that Iran is building advanced missile plants in Lebanon, and I want to emphasize that we have drawn a new red line, and we will not allow them to do this at any cost."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel's telegraphing of war against Iran and Lebanon is risky, in light of the reality that if Israel does press ahead with war against Iran, Russia will most probably assist it militarily, as its leadership has committed to do many times over the last several decades.

And as we have seen in Syria, the Russians do have both tactics and weaponry which perform brilliantly well.

State Department warns Americans they are in danger from terror attacks WORLDWIDE following Trump's Jerusalem decision

The State Department issued a new 'Worldwide Caution' to Americans traveling overseas on Wednesday, after President Donald Trump announced the U.S. has officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The update did not include specific warnings about Israel, the West Bank and Gaza; that region's travel advisory dates back to April.

But the State Department did advise Americans to avoid Jerusalem's Old City and the West Bank on Tuesday, anticipating strong reactions to Trump's speech once the subject matter became public.

The global warning advised American citizens to 'maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness when traveling.'

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF you can manage to not travel out of the country, but can use Skype or some other form of visual peer-to-peer conferencing software, I would highly recommend it right now.

President Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital has just placed a target on the backs of every American, and every American asset, both at home and abroad.

ISRAEL LAUNCHES MASSIVE SURPRISE MILITARY DRILL AHEAD OF TRUMP’S JERUSALEM SPEECH AND AFTER STRIKES IN SYRIA

Israel launched a large-scale surprise military drill late Tuesday along the country’s northern border with Lebanon, one of many regional countries to condemn President Donald Trump’s anticipated announcement recognizing the disputed city of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The Israeli military reportedly mobilized its Galilee division, including hundreds of logistics corps soldiers and dozens of vehicles, without prior notice, in an effort to test its rapid-response capabilities in the event of a conflict breaking out in the tense northern region, near foes Lebanon and Syria. Both Arab nations have recognized Jerusalem solely as the capital of an independent Palestinian state, and have been hit by Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran-backed forces, such as Lebanon’s Shiite Muslim Hezbollah movement, which has focused on battling Syrian rebels and jihadis in recent years. It has also clashed with Israeli forces for decades.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel will be attacking Lebanon soon; it is just a question of time, and when they believe that, due to other world conflicts, they can actually get away with it.

Trump reversed decades of U.S. policy on Wednesday by recognising disputed Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The decision has imperilled Middle East peace efforts and upset the Arab world and Western allies alike.

An ominous warning: ‘Netanyahu needs a war with Iran. And he needs it soon’

2 December, 2017: In a dangerous escalation, Israel last night attacked a military base near Syria’s capital, Damascus, using both warplanes and surface-to-surface missiles. News sources in Syria said the target was an Iranian installation near Al-Kiswa, 7 miles south of the city.

This attack — Israeli officials declined comment — is just the latest ominous sign from Israel that the unholy alliance of Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu and the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, may be planning to greatly expand war in the Mideast, targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon, and its ally and patron, Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel may, in fact, start this war, but they will fully expect most of the costs, in blood and money, to be borne by a US intervention into this war, on Israel's side.

I hope President Trump thoroughly comprehends that should we attack Iran, Russia - whose political and military leaders have consistently vowed to protect it under attack - will enter the fray on Iran's side.

And, as having been demonstrated in Syria, Russian weaponry does work.

The Coming War on Lebanon

Washington’s plan to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has ultimately failed. Now Lebanon seems to be in the cross-hairs with tensions between Israel and Hezbollah on the same level that led to the 2006 Lebanon war. There is also the possibility that a new offensive against Syria that might take place as Washington maintains its troop levels in the devastated country caused by ISIS and other terrorists groups they supported. Various reports suggests that the Pentagon may reveal that there are close to 2,000 U.S. troops stationed in Syria even though ISIS has been defeated. So why is Washington staying in Syria? Will there be another attempt to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the near future? Most likely, yes.

How A Dubious BBC Report Gave Israel The "Green Light" For Last Night's Attack On Syria

Syrian state television has confirmed that Israel attacked a military base outside of Damascus overnight on Friday, which Israeli media reports involved both surface-to-surface missiles and airstrikes, while Syria says its air defense systems were engaged and intercepted two missiles. Like other recent strikes inside Syria, the Israeli jets reportedly fired from over Lebanese airspace, in order to avoid both Syrian anti-aircraft missile systems and provoking a Russian response. Though the extent of the damage or casualties is not yet known, Syrian media has confirmed material damage to the base, and other reports indicate mass power outages in some of parts of Damascus occurred immediately after the attack, which SANA says happened at 12:30am local time.

The Coming War on Lebanon: Israel, Saudi Arabia and the U.S. Prepare for a Long-Planned Middle East War

Israel, Saudi Arabia and the U.S. have one main objective at the moment and that is to destabilize Lebanon and attempt to defeat Hezbollah before they prepare for another offensive in Syria to remove Assad from power. Before they declare an all-out war on Iran, they must neutralize their allies, Hezbollah and Syria which is by far an extremely difficult task to accomplish.

The Curse: Lebanon’s Natural Resources and the Greater Israel Project

Webmaster's Commentary:

Apparently, with regard to the thoroughly morally depraved Butcher of Yemen, Prince Salman, Mr. Friedman wrongly conflates the term "reformist policies" with utter genocide.

And I hope that President Trump clearly understands that should the US invade Iran, Russia will most probably come to its aid militarily, as it has promised to do for decades.

And as we have seen from its triumphs in Syria, Russia does have military equipment which actually works, and well.

Lebanon will only survive if Hezbollah disarms: Saudi minister

Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister said on Friday that Lebanon had been “hijacked” by Hezbollah and could only flourish if the Iranian-backed group disarmed.

The Shi‘ite Muslim militia was set up by the powerful Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) in the 1980s and has grown steadily in influence, sharing power in the Beirut government and giving crucial support to President Bashar al-Assad in Syria’s civil war.

Its growing strength has alarmed Saudi Arabia, a Sunni Muslim monarchy that is Shi‘ite Iran’s arch-rival for regional influence.

“Lebanon will only survive or prosper if you disarm Hezbollah,” Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir told a conference in Italy. “As long as you have an armed militia, you will not have peace in Lebanon.”

Jubeir said the situation in Lebanon was “tragic” and accused Iran of fomenting unrest across the Middle East.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Saudi Prime Minister Jubeir, a word please; how is your country's genocide against Yemen NOT "fomenting unrest across the Middle East"?!?

You have what we Americans colloquially describe " the Horse Sense" to understand that should Hezbullah disarm, it makes Lebanon suseptible to a hostile takeover by either your country, or Israel.

The Lebanese people understand this, and see Hezbollah as a force for good; I doubt that they will disarm any time soon.

Misusing Intelligence to Sell Conflict with Iran

Although nobody knows exactly where Donald Trump intends to go with his campaign of seeking confrontation with Iran, his administration already has provided disconcerting parallels with the techniques an earlier U.S. administration used in selling its launching of a war against Iraq. Among these techniques is the cherry-picking of intelligence not to inform policy-making or to enlighten the public but instead to inculcate false perceptions among the public and thereby to muster support for a policy already chosen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

All the Israeli Firsters around President Trump are cheerleading for regime change in Tehran, but please understand: they only want this to happen at the cost of American blood and American money, and they don't give a damn about what the costs of such a war will be.

So I sincerely hope that President Trump realizes that should the US and/or Saudi Arabia attack Iran, Russia will most probably jump into the fray on Iran's side, as their military and political leadership have long vowed that should Iran be attacked, Russia willcome to its aid militarily.

Is Trump Going to Lie Our Way Into War With Iran?

A decade and a half ago, in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq, President George W. Bush’s administration conjured up not only terrifying images of nuclear mushroom clouds but also of Saddam Hussein plotting with Osama bin Laden to attack the United States.

Mr. Bush himself declared that Mr. Hussein “aids and protects terrorists, including members of Al Qaeda” while Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld called links between Iraq and Al Qaeda “accurate and not debatable.”

It wasn’t true, of course. But it helped make the case for war.

That may be why a similar lie is getting trotted out again now, except this time the target is Iraq’s neighbor, Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The President would do well to remember; a war against Iran will probably mean war with Russia, whose political and military leadership have consistently, and collectively gone on record as stating that Russia will defend Iran, should it be attacked militarily.

And, as evidenced by their astounding victories in Syria, the Russian military has weaponry which actually works.

Saudi-led ‘Arab NATO’ declares total war on terrorism; Iran, Iraq & Syria not invited

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Salman has vowed to “wipe” terrorists from the “face of the earth” using resources available to the Islamic Military Alliance, a so-called ‘Arab NATO’ which claims to be targeting a “faceless enemy,” rather than any particular “sect” or “country.”

Formed in 2015 by then-deputy Crown Prince and defense minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, the IMA has so far only functioned on paper. Now the Crown Prince wants to take his brainchild to the next level by declaring a total “war against terrorism,” during the Sunday summit of IMA, also referred to as the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) or the “Arab NATO.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

OH, REALLY?!?!?

Forgive me, but I am nearly close to choking from nausea, invoked by the glaring hipocrisy of the words coming out of this guy's mouth, relative to the hellish realities on the ground he has created for the people of Yemen.

So please: when does Prince Salman intend to announce the end of the terror he and his coalition are raining down on Yemen with these damnable bombing raids, which are killing civillian women, children, and the medically fragile elderly here?!?

When will he stop the US-enabled blockades of Yemeni ports, leading to massive deaths by malnutrition?!?

And when will he get a reasonable, and rapid, medical response going to the horrific outbreak of cholera, which is killing thousands in Yemen?!?

Prince MBS, if you want to stop a lot of terror in the region, you had better damned well take a good, long look in a mirrior first.

Nasrallah Accuses US Of "Daesh Conspiracy" As Feared 'Tehran-To-Beirut Land Bridge' Is Established

Washington's past decade of Syria policy has been driven by fears of the so-called "Shia crescent" or Iranian land bridge which would conceivably connect Tehran with the Mediterranean in a continuous arch of influence. With events rapidly unfolding in Iraq and Syria, foremost among them the defeat of ISIS and the connection of Syrian and Iraqi national forces at the shared border, that land bridge has now been established for the first time in recent history.

But now as 2017 comes to a close, the Syria-Hezbollah-Iran alliance appears victorious, and it's the House of Saud and US-backed alliance that is fragmented and in shambles. And consistent with what Hersh predicted all the way back in 2007, the US has for years supported a jihadist corridor in Syria in order to "isolate the Syrian regime, which is considered the strategic depth of the Shia expansion (Iraq and Iran)."

THE REVERSE MIDAS TOUCH OF SAUDI ARABIA’S CROWN PRINCE IS TURNING THE MIDDLE EAST TO DUST

Both MBS, as he has come to be known, and his elderly father King Salman, the BND analysts wrote, want Saudi Arabia to be seen as “the leader of the Arab world” with a foreign policy built on “a strong military component.” Yet the memo also pointed out that the consolidation of so much power in a single young prince’s hands “harbors a latent risk that in seeking to establish himself in the line of succession in his father’s lifetime, he may overreach,” adding: “Relations with friendly and above all allied countries in the region could be overstretched.”

And so it has come to pass. In fact, despite being repudiated at the time by a German government more concerned about diplomatic and commercial relations with Riyadh, the BND warning turned out to be eerily prophetic.

The photograph is receiving a lot of attention and circulation on Arab social media as ironically during his initial televised resignation speech from Riyadh he cited Iranian meddling and rising influence, even going so far as to suggest he could be assassinated in a nefarious Iranian plot. Yet now he appears surprisingly overjoyed standing in front of the Iranian ambassador.
