Syrian president extends law on amnesty for militants for three months

Syrian President Bashar Assad has extended the law on amnesty for militants for three months, Aleppo province governor Hussein Diab said in an address to residents of the eastern part of Aleppo controlled by terrorists. "Our dear friends and brothers in eastern Aleppo! I address you today with a brotherly advice. Return to your senses, to your Syria, to you patriotism and take this golden chance that might be the last. Syria never was a place for terrorism, and will never be," he said. "These foreign terrorists trade you on the international arena and do not allow you to leave so that they can use you as human shields. They also store large amounts of food, of which you get nothing. With the help of weapons, they terrorize, prevent you from exiting the eastern parts of the city," the governor said...

Syrian envoy says Eastern Aleppo has no opposition, only terrorists

Eastern Aleppo is under terrorists’ control, there are no opposition activists with whom talks could be held, Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riayd Haddad said on Wednesday. Riyad Haddad said earlier that the Syrian government was ready to hold talks with the opposition but it would continue military activities against terrorists. Moreover, he said with confidence that Damascus was able to achieve a military victory in Aleppo. "We have no doubts we can achieve a military victory in Aleppo. We have been waging war against terrorists not the opposition. There is opposition in every country, it is normal. We have been holding talks with the opposition, particularly in Geneva," Haddad added. Damascus is ready to take part in intra-Syrian talks in any place, the ambassador stressed. "Syria is ready to take part in any intra-Syrian conference. We have no preconditions".

Damascus against proposals to create autonomous areas in Syria — envoy

"Staffan de Mistura (UN special envoy) made some proposals during his visit to Damascus, including on the creation of an autonomy in eastern Aleppo. All of them were rejected," Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad said on Wednesday. "The Syrian government is opposed to any proposals on creating autonomous zones in the country". Haddad said Damascus rejects all initiatives that could assist the terrorists. "Ceasefire agreements that were made earlier did not help solve the problem and terrorists are using civilians as a ‘living shield’ and continue mortar attacks".

Why Are State Sponsors of Terrorism Receiving U.S. Taxpayer Dollars?

On Tuesday, in one of the first post-election warning shots fired across Team Trump’s bow, Senator John McCain warned the president-elect not to trust “a former KGB agent who has plunged his country into tyranny, murdered his political opponents, invaded his neighbors, threatened America’s allies and attempted to undermine America’s elections.”

“At the very least, the price of another ‘reset’ would be complicity in Putin and Assad’s butchery of the Syrian people.

“That is an unacceptable price for a great nation. When America has been at its greatest, it is when we have stood on the side [of] those fighting tyranny,” McCain added. “That is where we must stand again.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Establishing a "no-fly" zone in Syria would translate as a war between Russia and the US; it would be one of the most stupid blunders President-Elect Trump could possibly make, and he knows it.

McCain is characteristically fact-deprived here, in his blithely ignoring the reality that Russia was invited by the Syrian government to mop up all the jihadists, including those trained and funded by the US

The other hard fact here is, there is no such thing as a "moderate jihadist" in Syria, as witnessed by so many of them incorporating into even more militant groups, and surrendering US-delivered weapons to them.

On Saturday, a flotilla of Russian warships arrived off the coast of Syria. The flotilla was reportedly deployed to prepare for a large-scale land and sea assault on the ravaged city of Aleppo.

The flotilla is eight ships strong and led by Moscow’s only aircraft carrier. It is also being accompanied by a nuclear-powered missile cruiser. According to the Syrian website al-Masdar News, which the Telegraph advises is a pro-government source, the battle group is to be deployed to the region for at least six months.

Although NATO officials have said such a deployment by Russia is intended to demonstrate Moscow’s military might, the truth is that Russia is pressing on with its military operations in Syria whether or not the rest of the world is paying attention.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russia is about to make mincemeat of the jihadists in Aleppo.

Former US Intelligence Chief Admits Obama Took “Willful Decision” to Support ISIS Rise

If one was only to read mainstream news in the West, you would probably be inculcated with the myth that Islamic State (ISIS) appeared almost out of thin air and many governments in the Western world have been completely shocked by the rise of this terror group. Perhaps you would correctly blame the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq as a major reason why such extreme groups gained power in the region, in addition to blaming certain governments for supposedly marginalizing Sunni’s.

But what most mainstream readers will be miserably ignorant of is the fact that one of the main opposition groups fighting the Bashar al-Assad government in Syria has been ISIS itself, a group that has been trained, funded, aided and armed by NATO countries in collusion with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Israel (to name a few). This reality has been completely omitted in numerous corporate media publications, once again demonstrating the inept and deceptive nature of mainstream news.

Turkey’s Operation Euphrates Shield is Shielding What? Deconstructing Syria, Turkey’s illegal Invasion

Turkey, in a bid to legitimize its uninvited, illegal incursion into northern Syria, has created several media platforms specifically reporting on what it calls “Operation Euphrates Shield.”

Operation Euphrates Shield, according to official Turkish government statements, aims at “securing” a buffer zone in northern Syria spanning from the Euphrates river in the east and extending all the way to Azaz in the west. This is also coincidentally the exact same buffer zone US policy think tanks have called for since at least 2012 – specifically seeking Turkey to implement it.

Despite claims that Turkey’s actions are necessary to “stop” the self-proclaimed “Islamic State” (ISIS) and help end the deadly conflict raging in Syria, it is clear that instead, Turkey is carving out territory specifically to shelter militants fighting the Syrian government in an attempt to perpetuate, even expand the violence for as long and as extensively as possible.

Trump Warns That By Attacking Assad, US Will ‘End Up Fighting Russia’

US President-elect Donald Trump has confirmed that he will most likely abandon the Obama administration policy on Syria to seek a possible rapprochement with Russia on the issue of Assad.

“I’ve had an opposite view of many people regarding Syria,” the 70-year-old Republican told the Wall Street Journal in his first interview since the election.

Trump & Woolsey: Was There a Bait-and-Switch?

The day after Trump’s election, Woolsey was interviewed by the CBC and asked about U.S. national security priorities. Woolsey responded that it was necessary “to get straight who our friends and adversaries are.” He asserted that “Israel is our friend,” while he called Iran “the world’s leading terrorist state” and insisted that the nuclear agreement with Iran “is so bad it needs to go.” Tehran reached a deal with world powers (including the U.S.) on its nuclear program in July 2015. The Israel lobby has reportedly been trying to undermine the agreement ever since by linking Iran with ISIS terrorism.

Woolsey also called Russia and North Korea “problem states,” and when asked if a new relationship with Russia could be possible under Trump as president, he answered that it “has to be based on Russian performances, not Russian promises,” adding that “Russia’s got to stop conquering its neighbours, like Ukraine.”

Human Rights Watch Conducted a Biased Investigation for the School “Bombing” in Idlib

By Mehmet Ersoy

On November 6, Human Rights Watch published a report in which the Syrian government and its allies were accused of carrying out an airstrike on a school in Idlib province in late October, 2016.

According to the report, on October 26, the school was hit by two Su-24 jets used by the Syrian and Russian AFs. Citing some witnesses, the organization claims the jets dropped from 7 to 9 parachute bombs on the school and nearby road. It says no military facilities were in the school or by it and all the casualties were among civilians...

The Obama administration, through the CIA led by Saudi asset John Brennan, fed weapons, training and billions of dollarsto "moderate rebels". These then turned around (vid) and either gave the CIA gifts to al-Qaeda in Syria (aka Jabhat al Nusra) or joined it themselves. The scheme was no secret at all and Russia as well as Syria pointed this out several times. The Russian foreign Minister Lavrov negotiated with the U.S. secretary of State Kerry who promised to separate the "moderate rebels" from al-Qaeda. But Kerry never delivered. Instead he falsely accuse Russia of committing atrocities that never happened. The CIA kept the upper hand within the Obama administration and continued its nefarious plans.

ISIS-linked media outlets have released a series of pics that show the terrorist group’s fighters preparing an attack on the Syrian army’s positions at the Khanasser highway, heading to the Syrian city of Aleppo. The Khanasser highway is a vital supply line used by the Syrian government to supply its forces deployed in the area of Aleppo city. Jaish al-Fatah, a coalition of the so-called ‘moderate opposition groups’, have been conducting raids, targeting government supply convoys in the area since the intensification of battle for Aleppo. ISIS joined the “moderates” in this complicated task. Completely by accident, Jaish al-Fatah and ISIS militants are not going to fight each other.

Heavy clashes are ongoing between the government forces and Jaish al-Fatah militants in the al-Assad Neighborhood of Aleppo city. According to pro-government sources, about a half of the neighborhood has been liberated.

Russian Defense Ministry confirms it received UN request to extend pause in Aleppo

Russia’s Defense Ministry has received a letter from the head of the UN humanitarian mission in Syria asking to extend humanitarian pauses in Aleppo, the ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov told reporters on Thursday. He said that the letter was received by "our representative in Geneva on November 7," the letter contained "another request to extend future humanitarian pauses in Aleppo". "This is not the first time that we receive such requests. Every time it seems to be just another effort to find an excuse for disrupting the UN humanitarian aid delivery to the residents of Aleppo." Konashenkov pointed out that regardless of the humanitarian pauses, the Russian Reconciliation Center had delivered over 100 tons of humanitarian aid to Aleppo in the past few months, at the same time, not one humanitarian pause was introduced all of a sudden.

Assad Adviser Says We Are In A Time That Will Determine The Future Of The World

By Brandon Turbeville

As the war in Syria continues to rage on, it is becoming more and more obvious that the battle taking place is about much more than Syria as a country. In this place, the cradle of civilization, there are now two warring ideologies. One that demands total fealty and the absence of all dissent, and one that believes a nation’s people should decide for themselves the direction of their country. One ideology wants to force its hegemonic world system upon all other nations, and the other contends that nations should choose their own direction.

This is not to argue perfection on the part of Syria or Russia by any means. But it is a reality nonetheless...

Ray McGovern’s Speech in Berlin Today in German and English

Ladies and gentlemen,

In view of the surprising election victory of Donald Trump, today’s vote in the Bundestag is of great importance.

There are very passionate warmongers in the U.S. Thank goodness, President Obama is not one of them. In my opinion, Donald Trump, like Obama, wants to end the armed chaos in Syria.

I believe it is quite possible that both – Obama as well as Trump – would prefer for the German government to avoid taking any steps to encourage the “hawks” in Washington. An extension of the Syrian war into a NATO war would be such a step.

In my opinion, a peaceful solution to the disaster in Syria is not possible without cooperation with the Russians. This cooperation will be more likely with Donald Trump as US-President than with Hillary Clinton.

Russian Navy will hit ISIS targets in Aleppo with cruise missiles within 24 hours as Putin moves to strike while US focusses on Presidential election

The Russian navy is planning a massive attack on Aleppo within the next 24 hours, according to a Ministry of Defence source.
A group of ships including an aircraft carrier, a nuclear power guided missile cruiser and two destroyers is reportedly ready to strike from the Mediterranean Sea.
But the Russian source insisted the missiles will aim for areas surrounding Aleppo to avoid harming the 200,000 civilians still living there.

The source added that the details of the strike are still being finalised as they navy zeros in on exact targets around the Syrian city.
The strikes could apparently include Kalibr cruise missiles, launched from a submarine.

It comes on the day of the US election, after American officials have condemned Russia's bombing campaign in Syria.

US not liberating Raqqa… it’s protecting jihadi proxies in Syria

Syria unrest
Officially, the US is providing air support, as well as “assisting and training” by special forces to the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who are spearheading the offensive on the Daesh stronghold. The SDF comprise about 30,000 local fighters, 20,000 of whom are Kurdish and the rest Sunni Arab militants.

It is also reported that British and French warplanes are involved in the US-led coalition operation to take Raqqa.

Analysts say role of Kurdish minorities soared amid civil wars in Middle East

Just-launched offensive by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces towards Raqqa - the unofficial capital of the Islamic State (outlawed in Russia) - means that the Syrian Kurds hope to have a major say in the country’s postwar reconstruction, polled analysts told TASS. The Syrian Democratic Forces incorporate armed groups where Kurdish militias constitute the backbone. On Sunday, they declared that in the small hours of November 6 they had begun an operation with the aim to recapture Syria’s city of Raqqa from Islamic State militants. About 30,000 fighters are involved in the offensive codenamed Euphrates Rage. US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter confirmed the start of the Raqqa operation in a special statement. As much as The New York Times and the mainstream U.S. media have become propaganda outlets on most foreign policy issues, like the one-sided coverage of the bloody Syrian war, sometimes the truth seeps through in on-the-ground reporting by correspondents, even ones who usually are pushing the “propo.”

Such was the case with Anne Barnard’s new reporting from inside west Aleppo, the major portion of the city which is in government hands and copes with regular terror rocket and mortar attacks from rebel-held east Aleppo where Al Qaeda militants and U.S.-armed-and-funded “moderate” rebels fight side-by-side.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The bottom line here is that Russia is supporting the Al-Assad government in Syria, while the US government is using any means necessary to instigate regime change, including the support of Al-Qaeda, and al-Nusra, no matter how many more lives such support may claim.

Also, as reported at today:

Even as Syria and Russia threatened an all-out assault on the rebel side of Aleppo, saying Friday was the last chance for people there to exit, they had been unable to put down a counteroffensive by a mix of Qaeda-linked and United States-backed insurgent groups.

By the US government's support of these groups, as evidenced by the actions of their proxies, it is painfully clear this has utterly NOTHING to do with "humanitarian aid for the Syrian people"; this is all about controlling Syria's resources; ultimately insuring that they are sold only in US dollars, and removing one of Iran's most stalwart supporters in the region.

Turkey’s Anadolu News Agency, though government-run, is providing remarkably clear and reliable diagrammatic descriptions of the current status of the U.S-and-fundamentalist-Sunni, versus Russia-and-Shia-and-NON-fundamentalist-Sunni, sides, in the current oil-and-gas war in the Middle East, for control over territory in Syria, for construction of oil-and-gas pipelines through Syria supplying fuel into the world’s largest energy-market: Europe. Russia is now the dominant supplier of both oil and gas, but its ally Iran is a Shiite gas-powerhouse that wants to share the market there, and Russia has no objection. Qatar is a Sunni gas-powerhouse and wants to become the main supplier of gas there, and Saudi Arabia is a Sunni oil-powerhouse, which wants to become the major supplier of oil, but Saudi oil and Qatari gas would be pipelined through secular-controlled (Assad’s) Syria, and this is why the U.S.

Remember When the Media Sold Us the Iraq WMD Lies? It’s Happening Again

Like Iraq, the Media Now Sells the Political Class’ Lies on Russia, Syria

When Bush was trying to sell the Iraq war to Congress, Hillary Clinton, then a New York senator, voted in favor of authorizing his administration to go into Iraq, basing her decision “as much on advice from her husband’s advisers as from Bush administration officials.”

While she now claims her vote was a mistake, she proved herself to be consistently pro-intervention as secretary of state under President Barack Obama and as a presidential candidate, having gone so far as to suggest that going against Russia in Syria by enacting a no-fly zone could “save lives and hasten the end of the conflict.” Privately, however, she gave a speech to Goldman Sachs in which she acknowledged establishing a no-fly zone is Syria would kill “a lot” of Syrian civilians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ever since Bush's lies about Saddam Hussein having "weapons of mass destruction", and his invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, I have not been able to listen to a word this government says, because I understand both the depth, and breadth, of those lies, and for whose benefit they are told.

Wars are fought not for freedom; honor; and protecting the alleged "American way of life", whatever that is; they protect, and enhance the profitability of large corporations, which are given carte blanche to develop natural resources in other countries, to which the US government and those companies have absolutely no moral right whatsoever.

When Karl Marx made the statement "All wars are economic", the man was not at all far from the truth.

No matter who ultimately wins the White House, a war against Russia over Syria - or anything else, for that matter - would be a really terrible choice for this country's leadership, even if it has collectively swigged the Koolaid that such a war is winnable.

At this moment, our military does not have the weaponry, the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a war with Russia.

The US's weapons procurement program is completely corrupt and incestuous, in that those same (alleged) Congressional representatives who greenlight these weapons program frequently take generous donations from the same companies to which they have given these contracts.

The result for our military in the field is weapons which absolutely do not work as advertised; are so late in delivery that that they have become obsolete even before they are delivered; and come with hideous cost overruns which drive prices through the roof.

Russia and China spend far less for their weapons, but at the end of the day, many times, get far superior weapons than do their American counterparts.

Our American military deserve far better than this, and the process of weapons procurement must be cleaned up so that they do.

Russian drones observe every move Islamist rebels make in Aleppo

I think it already has.

All hell is expected to break loose in Aleppo city shortly after local rebel factions refused to evacuate or let any civilians leave besieged rebel-held districts today. A Russian humanitarian pause ended moments ago which effectively would grant the Russian Air Force the green light by the Kremlin to bomb insurgents hiding in the city again.

Pamphlets distributed in eastern Aleppo reveal militant groups would only allow residents to exit into government-held Aleppo if they paid 60,000 Syrian pounds (roughly 300 dollars) to "support the Mujahideen". With unemployment rampant due to war, hardly any civilians are able to afford the payment, effectively reducing them to human shields.

Despite an anti-corruption rule that was designed to reduce the financial industry’s political power, top officials from the investment firm BlackRock hosted Hillary Clinton at campaign fundraisers earlier this year.

The cash — which poured in through a loophole in the law — came in as BlackRock’s federal contracts to manage billions of dollars of retiree assets will be up for renewal during the next president’s term.

Citigroup bank chose Obama’s 2008 cabinet – WikiLeaks

The single biggest beneficiary was Citigroup, which was given $45 billion in cash in the form of a government stock purchase, plus a $306 billion government guarantee to back up its worthless mortgage-related assets.

One month before the presidential election of 2008, the giant Wall Street bank Citigroup submitted to the Obama campaign a list of its preferred candidates for cabinet positions in an Obama administration. This list corresponds almost exactly to the eventual composition of Barack Obama’s cabinet.

The memorandum, revealed by WikiLeaks in a recent document release from the email account of John Podesta, who currently serves as Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair, was written by Michael Froman, who was then an executive with Citigroup and currently serves as US trade representative. The email is dated Oct. 6, 2008 and bears the subject line “Lists.” It went to Podesta a month before he was named chairman of President-Elect Obama’s transition team.

US vs. Russia in Syria: A Battle to Control the Truth

There is a dangerous leader heading an irrational state who is deploying forces to Syria he insists are fighting terrorists. His decisions have led to numerous civilian casualties and the threatening of nuclear confrontation with his nation's ideological foe. Domestically, his administration has jailed journalists and silenced critics in government, and since WWII, his country's intelligence services have meddled in the elections of dozens of countries and are now contemplating a cyberattack on its hegemonic rival. His administration maintains alliances with corrupt juntas and religious fundamentalists while championing domestic and foreign policies that have done little to rein in the country's violent nationalism, intolerant nativism, police brutality and enriching of the few at the expense of the many.

His name is Barack Obama. One could certainly be forgiven in thinking it was Vladimir Putin, since his justifications for Russian policy are strikingly similar.

Russia denies sending three submarines to Syria in preparation for major Aleppo assault

Three Russian submarines armed with cruise missiles have reportedly joined a naval battleforce heading towards Syria.

The Royal Navy and Nato have been tracking the two Akula-class submarines and a diesel-powered Kilo-class sub as they travelled to join the fleet of Russian ships headed by the Soviet-era aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov.

“The Russians now have submarines in the Med,” a senior naval source told The Sunday Times.

It is feared the submarines may be armed with Kalibr cruise missiles and could be used to support the final assault on the besieged city of Aleppo.

I’m not sure most Americans have figured out what’s happening in Syria, because so much of what we hear is confusing to us, and really, we know so little of the context for it. Is it an insurgency against a brutal ruler? Is it a group of insurgencies struggling for power in a nearly failed state? Is it a proxy war expressing the territorial and ideological interests of the U.S., Russia, Turkey and Iran?

Or something else?

According to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. it is something else — a war between competing national interests to build, or not build, a pipeline to the Mediterranean so natural gas can be exported to Europe. Inconveniently for Syria, that nation lies along an obvious pipeline route.

Which makes it another war between interests for money — something not very hard to understand at all.

Inside the Invisible Government: War, Propaganda, Clinton & Trump by JOHN PILGER

This article is about the culpability and criminality as in War Crimes of the US MSM. Pilgers' take on why the establishment hates Donald Trump too!

In 1946, the Nuremberg Tribunal prosecutor said of the German media: “Before every major aggression, they initiated a press campaign calculated to weaken their victims and to prepare the German people psychologically for the attack. In the propaganda system, it was the daily press and the radio that were the most important weapons.”

Terrorists in Syria received U.S.-made anti-aircraft systems and launched Grad missiles on Aleppo

Putin has really messed up here.He has repeatedly given the terrorists breaks(ceasefires and truces) to resupply, rearm and replace their personnel losses. His Generals publicly asked him for permission to resume bombing. That is unheard of.Putin has made significant errors in the prosecution of this war and he is in trouble with his military leadership.

(RT) ~ Militant groups in Syria were supplied with US-made man-portable surface-to-air missiles, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, adding that the West’s actions in Syria look like an attempt to render assistance to terrorists.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, she said during a news briefing, is aware of “militants [in Syria] receiving US-manufactured man-portable air-defense systems,” adding that “Jihadists operating in the Aleppo region continue to be supplied with arms and ammunition.”

Russian And US Jets Flew Dangerously Close In Syria – US Official

The close call between American and Russian military jets in Syria has happened, officials announced. Near misses are a near weekly occurrence.

The closest call came on October 17, in the “middle of the night, probably somewhere around midnight,” Lieutenant General Jeff Harrigian, the commander of US Air Force Central Command said on Friday, first reported by AFP.

US State Department Threatens "Consequences" For Syrian Chemical Weapons Use; Russia "Unconvinced" By UN Report

If cyber-attacks are not enough to get the American people behind war with Russia, then the State Department has gone back to its old playbook. Following the release of a UN report which concluded the Syrian government used chemical weapons on its own people, Washington warns that countries that continue to shield the Assad regime will face consequences. The Russians disagree with the UN findings, "we believe that the proof is not there for any punitive action to be taken. It's simply not there."

As DW reports, the use of chlorine gas as a weapon is banned under the Chemical Weapons Convention, which Syria joined in 2013 under pressure from Russia. When it joined, a clause in the agreement allowed the UN to potentially impose sanctions should Syria disregard the convention.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but this is SO....2013 by the UN, when Obama was accusing Bashar Al-Assad of using chlorine gas against his own people, just as the UN team had landed in Damascus.

It was then documented, incontrovertibly, that it was Syrian rebels, and not Assad's people, who used Sarin nerve gas.

Syrian rebels used Sarin nerve gas, not Assad’s regime: U.N. official

The UN report here just reeks of having been engineered by the US to bypass previous investigative standards to achieve just such an end, as sanctioning Syria, for something I would strongly suspect it never did in the first place.

But the ramifications of such a move - sanctions against Syria - would put Russia and the US at complete loggerheads here, and very probably we will see a military clash between the US and Russia over Syria, and soon.

Russian, U.S. Jets in Near Miss Over Syria: U.S. Officials

Aboard a US military aircraft (AFP) – A Russian fighter flew dangerously close to a US warplane over eastern Syria, US defence officials said Friday, highlighting the risks of a serious mishap in the increasingly crowded airspace.
The near miss occurred late on October 17, when a Russian jet that was escorting a larger spy plane manoeuvred in the vicinity of an American warplane, Air Force Lieutenant General Jeff Harrigan said.

The Russian jet came to “inside of half a mile”, he added.

Another US military official, speaking on condition of anonymity , said the American pilot could feel the turbulence produced by the Russian jet’s engines.

“It was close enough you could feel the jet wash of the plane passing by,” the official said.

It appeared the Russian pilot had simply not seen the US jet, as it was dark and the planes were flying without lights.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Russian and American high command need to do a great deal better than this, to avoid an incident which could lead to war.

But you have to ask yourself; is this what American leadership truly wants, now that the FBI has re-opened its investigation into Hillary Clinton's email issues, as her numbers are now tanking in the polls?!?

US-Russian War Tensions Mount Over Eastern Europe and Syria

Defending the deployments in an interview with the German broadcaster, Deutsche Welle, the outgoing American deputy secretary general of NATO, Alexander Vershbow, claimed the US-led alliance “had no choice.”

“Russia changed the whole paradigm in 2014 with its aggression against Ukraine, its illegal annexation of Crimea,” said Vershbow.

This is a barefaced lie. The crisis in Ukraine was triggered not by “aggression” on the part of the Kremlin oligarchy, but rather the conspiracy of Washington and Berlin to overthrow the elected government in Kiev through the mobilization of violent fascist and right-wing nationalist forces. The US openly associated itself with this coup, with Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland bragging that the US had spent $5 billion to further Ukrainian regime change.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF DNC and White House polling indicate that Trump is going to win both the electoral college vote and the popular vote in a landslide, watch for President Obama to "gift" Trump with a couple of wars before he even takes the Oath of Office in January.

At least 6 civilians killed, 71 wounded in jihadist shelling of Aleppo – RT reporter

Jihadist militants appear to have launched a major offensive from east Aleppo, Syria, an RT crew reports from the scene. Residential areas are under heavy shelling, with at least six people confirmed killed and over 70 injured.

Alleged Al-Nusra Front fighters are trying to break through the blockade of the city, RT’s Murad Gazdiev reported from Aleppo.

He said at least six civilians were confirmed killed from the shelling since Friday morning, including a two-year-old boy. Dozens were injured in the attacks. The shelling targeted the Bustan al-Qasr area of western Aleppo.

Or so it sure looks anyway.

I say talons of “New York and Washington” because America’s foreign policy, forged in those two cities, belongs entirely to them. Americans have no influence on it. Further, none of of what the Empire does abroad is of any benefit to Americans.

Turkey vows to press Syria offensive despite warning from pro-Assad forces

Turkey said on Wednesday it will press its military offensive in Syria until Islamic State is driven from the town of al-Bab, despite a warning from forces allied to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and a helicopter attack on the rebels it backs.

Turkey's incursion into Syria, launched two months ago to drive Islamic State militants from its border and prevent Kurdish fighters from gaining ground in their wake, has complicated an already messy battlefield in northern Syria.

As the Turkey-backed rebels push south towards al-Bab, an Islamic State-held town 35 km (22 miles) northeast of Aleppo, they face confrontation with both Kurdish and pro-Assad forces, whose front lines lie close by.

The field commander of the forces allied to the Syrian leader - which include the Lebanese group Hezbollah, Iraqi militias and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards - warned Turkey any advance towards their positions north and east of Aleppo would be met "decisively and with force".

Webmaster's Commentary:

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu's testosteronic belligerence is not helping here, and again, Turkey was not invited to assist Syria in getting rid of the jihadists; Russia was.

I would like to very strongly hope that Erdogan and Putin are talking, so that there is no direct military confrontation between them in Syria.

U.S. Stuck With Nobody Left to Sanction in Russia Over Syria

The U.S. put sanctions on Russia’s main arms exporter, Kremlin aides and the black leather-loving head of a motorcycle gang nicknamed “The Surgeon” after the 2014 invasion of Ukraine. Now, as Washington seeks ways to punish Moscow for its actions in Syria, it may be running out of options.

President Barack Obama’s administration says new sanctions are among its alternatives as it seeks to ease the humanitarian crisis in Syria, where Russia backs President Bashar al-Assad’s drive to recapture the city of Aleppo. But Secretary of State John Kerry won’t give any details, and European allies failed last week to consider tighter restrictions.

“While the president has full sanction authority, there’s nobody left to sanction in Russia besides the janitor in the Kremlin,” said Michael Kofman, a global fellow at the Wilson Center’s Kennan Institute in Washington. “In terms of expanding any kind of commercial or financial sanctions, we’re basically maxed out.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

What this article conveniently forgets to mention is, Russia was invited by the Bashar al-Assad to rid Syria of all jihadists; the US government was not invited to do so.

Attempting to sanction Russia for doing something at the behest of the Syrian government is truly desperation on the cusp of madness.

Apparently, in D-C speak, Syria has no sovereignty whatsoever, and is being "silly" for believing it has any choice in the matter, other than to allow the US government to regime change Damascus, and install a more western-centric government.
