China’s hypersonic strike vehicle ‘in 3d test flight’

China has reportedly conducted a third flight test for its new ultra-high speed strike vehicle – capable of travelling at up to eight times the speed of sound, in what experts suspect is part of the development of its strategic nuclear program.

The test flight, monitored by US intelligence services this week, was the third in a series of tests of the Wu-14 hypersonic glide vehicle—a high-accuracy, high speed projectile, reports the Washington Free Beacon. The first two were conducted earlier this year.

Report: Obama threatened to fire on Israeli jets attacking Iran

The decision came, according to al-Jarida, after Israel revealed that the United States and Iran had been involved in secret talks over Iran’s nuclear program and were about to sign an agreement in that regard behind Israel's back.

According to the report, Netanyahu and his commanders agreed after four nights of deliberations to task the Israeli army's chief of staff Beni Gants to prepare a qualitative operation against Iran's nuclear program. In addition, Netanyahu and his ministers decided to do whatever they could do to thwart a possible agreement between Iran and the White House because such an agreement is, allegedly, a threat to Israel's security.

The sources added that Gants and his commanders prepared the requested plan and that Israeli fighter jets trained for several weeks in order to make sure the plans would work successfully. Israeli fighter jets even carried out experimental flights in Iran's airspace after they managed to break through radars.

The debate to mark the 70th anniversary of victory over fascism and the adoption of the UN Charter has recently taken part in New York. Yet, fascism as the destruction of a certain category of humans for the sake of exceptionalism of another category of humans has become the state ideology of the United States. To make matters worse, the UN does not fulfill its functions of a peacemaker.

Kerry warns Congress about Netanyahu’s Iran speech, says Bibi pushed US to attack Iraq

Netanyahu is set to use his next week’s address to a joint session of Congress to condemn a potential nuclear agreement with Iran.

During a House Committee on Foreign Affairs hearing on Wednesday, Kerry warned Congress about the controversial speech.

“The prime minister, as you will recall, was profoundly forward-leaning and outspoken about the importance of invading Iraq under George W. Bush, and we all know what happened with that decision,” Kerry said.

U.S. Military Trains African Armies Ahead of Boko Haram Campaign

A giant art installation targets predator drone operators

In military slang, Predator drone operators often refer to kills as ‘bug splats’, since viewing the body through a grainy video image gives the sense of an insect being crushed.

To challenge this insensitivity as well as raise awareness of civilian casualties, an artist collective installed a massive portrait facing up in the heavily bombed Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa region of Pakistan, where drone attacks regularly occur. Now, when viewed by a drone camera, what an operator sees on his screen is not an anonymous dot on the landscape, but an innocent child victim’s face.

Mandatory Military Service for Congress

For US foreign policymakers, war is not unlike a video game. Press a few buttons here, issue a few directives there, and presto, events take a different turn. At night, they still sleep safely in their own beds, risking nothing more than their own political power.

Maybe mandatory Congressional military service wouldn’t do anything to change their perspective. Maybe they’re so permanently deranged that experiencing the terror of war wouldn’t cause them to waver a bit. I don’t think so, though. I think politicians are self-interested human beings like the rest of us, and that forcing them to immediately confront what they’ve done to the world would make for a lot fewer wars. The Destabilization Doctrine: ISIS, Proxies and Patsies

It would certainly seem that way if one were to take at face value the putrid assertions of Western governments that are not particularly known for their honesty or integrity. But astute observers of history and geopolitics can spot a deception when they see one, and the latest theatrical performances being marketed to the masses as real, organic occurrences remind one of a Monty Python sketch.

In the past week we have witnessed a number of expedient events that were designed to legitimize the West’s imperialist foreign policies in the minds of the masses. On Feb. 15 the Islamic State (also known as ISIS) released another highly choreographed and visually striking video allegedly depicting the beheading of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians. Shortly following the video’s release, the Egyptian dictator Abdel Fattah el-Sissi launched air strikes against ISIS targets in Libya where the execution video was allegedly filmed, although experts are now saying that the production was faked.

Top GOP senators blast Obama admin’s waffling on arming Ukraine military

Two influential Republican national security hawks in the Senate hammered the Obama administration’s failure to take a more aggressive posture toward the war in eastern Ukraine Tuesday, asserting that the White House should “immediately” authorize the shipment of U.S. weapons to the Ukrainian military.

“The Chancellor of Germany and the President of France, with the support of the President of the United States, are legitimizing the dismemberment of a sovereign nation in Europe for the first time in seven decades,” Sens. Lindsay Graham of South Carolina and John McCain of Arizona said in a joint statement.

Obama’s “Fake War” against the Islamic State (ISIS). The Islamic State is Protected by the US and its Allies

Since August 2014, the US Air Force with the support of a coalition of 19 countries has relentlessly waged an intensified air campaign against Syria and Iraq allegedly targeting the Islamic State brigades.

According to Defense News, over 16,000 airstrikes were carried out from August 2014 to mid January 2015. Sixty percent of the air strikes were conducted by the US Air Force using advanced jet fighter and bombing capabilities (Aaron Mehta, “A-10 Performing 11 Percent of Anti-ISIS Sorties”. The airstrikes have been casually described by the media as part of a “soft” counter-terrorism operation, rather than an act of all out war directed against Syria and Iraq.

“Islamic State Déjà Vu”: US Sponsored Islamic Fighters in the Balkans, Washington Was Behind the 2001 Terrorist Attacks in Macedonia

The following article focussing on the jihadist terrorist insurgency in Macedonia was first published by antiwar.com in July 2001, barely two months before the September 11, 2001 attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon.

Known and documented, since the Soviet-Afghan war, recruiting Mujahedin (“holy warriors”) to fight covert wars on Washington’s behest had become an integral part of US foreign policy. The Pentagon's massive $534 billion budget request could force deep cuts elsewhere

The Pentagon decision to seek a 2016 budget that far exceeds federal spending caps poses the risk of a big across-the-board funding cut like the one that forced the department to put civilian workers on unpaid leave two years ago.

But defense officials say the department will not repeat some of the decisions it made in 2013 that exacerbated the problem once the automatic cuts, known as "sequestration," went into effect nearly halfway through the fiscal year.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This kind of spending requested by the Pentagon can only mean one thing: they have been informed that they will be fighting in perpetual wars which will see no end in the lifetime of the Pentagon officials requesting this money.

US Navy ships look to establish Darwin military base, but China won't be happy, warns expert

American warships could be stationed permanently in Darwin as part of the United States military's strategic plan in the region, but an expert warns that will not sit well with China.

US chief of navy operations, Admiral Jonathan Greenert, said the US was considering having a permanent naval base in Australia.

Admiral Greenert recently visited Darwin to inspect facilities and infrastructure which could allow US warships to be based in the Top End.

At an address in Canberra this week Admiral Greenert said the US was "doing a study together with the Australian Defence Force to see what might be feasible for naval co-operation in and around Australia, which might include basing ships".

Australian National University (ANU) Senior Fellow Peter Dean said such a move would be part of the US plan for Asia and would add to the existing US Marine Corps presence in Darwin.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It will be interesting to see how much pressure, both overt and covert, that China will bring to bear on Canberra to prevent this from happening.

Has President Obama Once Again Sold Us Down the River?

So, the history of the past two years is as follows. First, President Obama was going to bomb ISIS in Syria but the public demanded that he request Congressional approval. Then about a year later he decided that he could use the Congressional authority (granted back in 2002) to go against ISIS and has done so since September 2014. And now with both houses of Congress in Republican hands, he is asking for limited authority even though he has been acting without renewed authority for over five months.

Obama’s request for authorization to use military force against the Islamic State is a tough sell on Capitol Hill in its current form, with Republicans calling it too soft and Democrats questioning its scope and size.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have an idea. Those who want war should be given a rifle and a plane ticket and those who do not want war stay home and live in peace.

Obama’s Force Authorization is a Blank Check for War Worldwide

Even if our policies led to no boots on the ground, the unintended consequences of blowback and the enemy obtaining more American weapons will continue. The CIA has said that 20,000 foreigners are on their way to Iraq and Syria to join the ISIS. Our government has no more credibility in telling us the truth about the facts that require us to expand our military presence in this region than Brian Williams. Constant war propaganda has proven too often to be our nemesis in supporting constant war promoted by the neoconservatives and the military industrial complex.

It’s my opinion that giving additional authority to wage war in the Middle East is a serious mistake. Instead, the authority granted in 2001 and 2002 should be repealed. A simple and correct solution would be for our elected officials to follow the rules regarding war laid out in the Constitution.

ALL WARS ARE BANKERS' WARS!

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The Bankers own the Earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of a pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the fortunes like mine will disappear, and they ought to disappear, for this world would be a happier and better world to live in. But if you wish to remain slaves of the Bankers and pay for the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create deposits." -- Sir Josiah Stamp, President of the Bank of England in the 1920s, the second richest man in Britain

I know many people have a great deal of difficulty comprehending just how many wars are started for no other purpose than to force private central banks onto nations, so let me share a few examples, so that you understand why the US Government is mired in so many wars against so many foreign nations. There is ample precedent for this.

Russia the world’s last line of defence against Isramerica’s murderous grand design

The world is heading for war. The Isramerican empire is funneling tons of heavy weaponry into Ukraine to provoke Russia into launching a defensive attack, and then that response will be used to justify starting a major war. It is a waste of time trying to find any intelligent discussion in the mainstream corporate media of why the U.S. wants to provoke war with Russia. Its job is to cover up and falsify, not report.

Obama confounds Congress with vague Islamic State war powers request

Confidently declaring that the Islamic State “is going to lose,” President Obama on Wednesday asked Congress for broad yet intentionally vague war powers as he laid the foundation for a three-year military campaign against the terrorist group that ultimately could involve U.S. ground troops.

By leaving a host of unanswered questions with its authorization for use of military force, called AUMF on Capitol Hill, the White House is placing a significant burden on congressional leaders who now must hammer out the details.

Ukraine crisis: Vladimir Putin agrees new ceasefire - live

Mr Cameron said: "On this Minsk agreement, first of all I welcome and thank FH and AM for the hard work they have put in. If this is a genuine ceasefire then of course that would be welcome.

"But what matters most of all is actually actions on the ground rather than words on a piece of paper. I think we should be very clear that VP needs to know that unless his behaviour changes the sanctions we have in place won't be altered."

Obama asks for ‘3yrs, no territorial limits’ formal war authority to target ISIS

US President Barack Obama has asked the Republican-led Congress for formal authorization for use of military force against jihadist group Islamic State and associated forces in order to "show the world we are united in our resolve to counter the threat."

Obama’s proposal, sent to Capitol Hill on Wednesday this week, calls for a three-year authorization to combat militants, with no specific geographic limitations applied to US forces and “flexibility” regarding the number of ground troops involved.

3 Navy admirals censured over corruption scandal

The US Navy has officially reprimanded three rear admirals linked to the Glenn Defense Marine Asia scandal. The officers allegedly provided confidential information to a contractor in exchange for luxury travel, prostitutes, and other bribes.

Rear admirals Terry Kraft, Michael Miller, and David Pimpo were issued censure letters by Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus over their role in the Glenn Defense Marine Asia (GDMA) corruption case, more specifically during a 2006 deployment of the USS Ronald Reagan.

Obama defends request for military force authorization: Islamic State is ‘going to lose’

President Obama on Wednesday defended the war authorization he sent to Congress earlier in the day, arguing that the intentionally vague language will allow him to use U.S. ground troops for limited missions against the Islamic State if necessary.

Obama sends Congress 3-year force authorization on Islamic State

President Obama on Wednesday will ask Congress for a formal war authorization against the Islamic State.

The document, which declares that the Islamist group “poses a grave threat” to the region, includes no geographic restrictions, meaning Mr. Obama could target Islamic State fighters anywhere in the world.

The authorization for use of military force — or AUMF — also will prohibit “enduring offensive combat operations,” though it does not explicitly ban ground combat operations.

Britain 'reserves right' to arm Ukraine: minister

"It's a national decision for each country in the NATO alliance to decide whether to supply lethal aid to Ukraine," he said in a statement to MPs.

Pentagon says ISIS killed US hostage Kayla Jean Mueller

The Pentagon says American hostage Kayla Jean Mueller died at the hands of Islamic State and not in a Jordanian airstrike targeting the militant group.

Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby was asked Tuesday if there was any doubt who killed the aid worker.

He replied: "No doubt. ISIL," using the initials the group is known by.

Kirby says U.S. officials still don't know how Mueller died. But he added that officials are certain it was not in one of the airstrikes Jordan launched in retaliation for the killing of one of its pilots.

Two US Wars Of Aggression You Probably Never Heard Of

While there are only a few wars that are recognized by the public education system and mainstream media, the US has been involved in hundreds of different wars and invasions all over the planet in the past 100 years.

Below is some information about just two of the wars that are often left out of the history books.

Between 1964 and 1973, the U.S. dropped over two million tons of bombs on Laos during 580,000 bombing missions, making Laos the most heavily bombed country in history. The US dropped more bombs on Laos than they did on both Germany and Japan combined during World War 2.

Freudian slip? CNN says Obama considers arming pro-US troops...in Ukraine

Social media is abuzz after CNN labeled Ukrainian forces involved in Kiev’s deadly military operation in the country's southeast as “pro-US troops.” Online comments are calling it a Freudian slip, claiming it unmasks the true agenda behind the conflict.

The headline during CNN’s Monday segment, dedicated to talks between Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the resolution of the Ukraine crisis, read: “Obama considers arming pro-US troops.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This was absolutely no accident; right now, the news-reading presstitutes and their editors are desperately attempting to "script" their shows to create popular US citizen acquiescence to supporting Ukraine against Russia in the words uttered by the readers, and by the crawl under the images of their news readers.

The very carefully contrived use of language on the crawl was meant to say, "Ukrainian people and military ....good! They are pro-US troops, so their slaughtering of innocents, and the trail of human misery they are leaving behind is...GOOD!! Russia, however, is very bad, double plus un-good!!"

Expect to see more and more frothing, spewing demonization of Russia, and the attempted geopolitical "canonization" of "Brave, little Ukraine", accelerate, at warp drive, in the coming days and weeks to come.

Emirates Launches Airstrikes From Jordan on Islamic State

The United Arab Emirates launched airstrikes Tuesday against the Islamic State group from an air base in Jordan, marking its return to combat operations against the militants after it halted flights late last year.

The General Command of the UAE Armed Forces said Emirati F-16s carried out a series of strikes Tuesday morning, according to a brief statement carried by the Gulf nation's official WAM news agency.

The fighters returned safely back to base after striking their targets, the statement said. It did not elaborate, nor did it say whether the strikes happened in Syria or Iraq. The militants hold roughly a third of each country in a self-declared caliphate.

BREAKING: Obama considering lethal aid to Ukraine; move could cause rift

President Obama said Monday he’s considering providing Ukraine with lethal military arms to battle pro-Russian separatists, a potential move that would both ratchet up tension between Ukraine and Russia and also could create a rift between the U.S. and its European allies.

Mr. Obama made the comments at a White House press conference alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who strongly opposes the idea of providing arms to the Ukrainian military. Ms. Merkel and French President Francois Hollande this week will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in yet another effort to diffuse the situation through diplomacy.

Chilcot report will be 'devastating' says No 10 as it emerges THIRTY are in the firing line of heavily critical Iraq Inquiry... and Blair's secret letters to Bush to be revealed in full

Thirty people, including Tony Blair, are set to be heavily criticised by the Chilcot Inquiry in its ‘devastating’ attack on the Iraq War.

Well-placed sources say that ‘approximately 30’ people have been sent letters by chairman Sir John Chilcot warning them that they will be criticised in his report into the 2003 invasion.

They include the former Prime Minister and ex-Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, as well as a host of other Labour politicians, Whitehall mandarins, diplomats and intelligence officials.

The Mail on Sunday understands that Chilcot’s million-word report on the conflict is ‘largely finished’.

Is the West about to sell out Ukraine to Vladimir Putin?

As Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande fly to Russia, they will need to carefully gauge the psychology of a man who has brought Europe to the brink of war

Webmaster's Commentary:

As usual, the Telegraph has it totally wrong. The man who has brought Europe to the edge of war is Barack Obama, whose administration has admitted "brokering" and funding to the tune of five billion dollars the coup that ousted Ukraine's elected government of Yanukovich and installed the Poroshenko Junta, triggering chaos in Ukraine. Merkel and Hollande are talking with Putin (without consulting the White House that started this mess) because France and Germany were major battlegrounds for the first two World Wars and understandably are reluctant to allow a third on their territory.

I wonder if the Telegraph will now claim to have been shot down in a helicopter in Iraq!

Bad News for Lockheed's F-35 Stealth Fighter: This Warplane Has "Serious Deficiencies"

Bloomberg is now saying that Pentagon director of combat testing Michael Gilmore recently warned Congress of "serious deficiencies" in the F-35 stealth fighter -- deficiencies over and above those related to the gun. Already over budget and overdue for deployment, Gilmore says the F-35 still has only limited ability to:

drop bombs
share data with other aircraft
track hostile incoming missiles
identify enemy radar
and, in general, perform "effective combat operations against advanced enemy air defenses"

His understated assessment: This plane has "deficiencies remaining that will affect operational units."

Putin needs to ask Merkel and Hollande two questions

Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande are flying to Moscow after meeting Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kiev. In Moscow, the German Chancellor and the French President intend to discuss a new plan for the regulation of the Ukrainian conflict. The new plan is said to be a considerable addition to the Minsk Agreements. The plan supposedly suggests maintaining Ukraine's integrity providing greater autonomy to the Donbass. In the West, policy-makers strongly emphasize that this is the last chance to return to peace. According to them, President Putin will have nothing to do but to accept the new plan. Yet, the real state of affairs suggests otherwise.
