Ex-CIA analyst and activist Ray McGovern arrested in NYC

Former CIA analyst and anti-war activist Ray McGovern was arrested in New York City as he attempted to attend a speech by former CIA director David Petraeus.

McGovern was kept out of the event Thursday by security guards. Shortly afterwards, the NYPD officers arrived and took him in custody.

The 75-year old activist was charged with resisting arrest, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.

He said he had ticket to attend the event but was not allowed to get inside.

Richard Marini, an activist with World Can’t Wait, said he saw McGovern as he was being apprehended.

He said McGovern had his arms twisted tightly behind his back and was obviously in pain while he was being dragged to the police car.

Other witnesses said he was screaming in protest of how police officers were hurting his shoulder.
