THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"If there are those who think we are to jump immediately into a new world order, actuated by complete understanding and brotherly love, they are doomed to disappointment. If we are ever to approach that time, it will be after patient and persistent effort of long duration. The present international situation of mistrust and fear can only be corrected by a formula of equal status, continuously applied, to every phase of international contacts, until the cobwebs of the old order are brushed out of the minds of the people of all lands." -- Dr. Augustus O. Thomas, president of the World Federation of Education Associations, quoted in the book International Understanding: Agencies Educating for a New World

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – NOVEMBER 22, 2017: ARMY LAUNCHES NEW MILITARY OPERATION IN EUPHRATES VALLEY

ISIS cells have unexpectedly captured 8 villages from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) in the northern Hama countryside.

ISIS captured Abu Hariq, Ma’sarah, Abu Kusur, Tulayhat, Aliya, Suruj, Abu Marw and Umm Sahnk. The village of Abu Khanadiq is contested.

This is the second time that ISIS has been able to seize a significant area in the region without facing any notable resistance. The incident confirms that ISIS is maintaining a strong presence in the so-called opposition-held area in Idlib and northern Hama and that its cells can operate there freely.

He stressed the “importance of facing any attempt to exploit the ongoing circumstances to cause sedition, division, chaos and posing danger to Lebanese unity, civil peace and Lebanese interests.”

"You're teaching the world loyalty, thank you, thank you, thank you," he said, wearing a dark blue sports jacket as he addressed hundreds of supporters waving flags with the colours of his Future Movement.

He flew in late Tuesday after spending around two weeks in Saudi Arabia in yet to be clarified circumstances and making stops in France, Egypt and Cyprus on his way back.

The Migrant Crisis and the Fall of a Giant: Five Times Breitbart London Exposed Decline of Angela Merkel YEARS Before Establishment Media

Crucial talks to sustain the political career of acting German Chancellor Angela Merkel collapsed Sunday, throwing into sharp relief the waning power of the politician who was once considered the most powerful woman in the world.

German newspaper Die Welt wrote shortly after the formal announcement of the failure of the German coalition talks that “The fate of these discussions was already sealed on 5th September 2015. Merkel’s decision to keep the German border open for refugees for a variety of reasons led to the closing of the door [on this] Sunday for the first German multi-party coalition.”

The 5th of September date cited by the German newspaper refers to the day Angela Merkel announced through a government spokesman that Germany would not turn refugees away, shifting up a gear one of the greatest movements of people to Europe in the continent’s history.

UK to Pay France Millions More to Stop New Wave of Calais Migrants

The UK will give more taxpayers’ money to France to stop a wave of migrants following a surge in attempted illegal crossings, according to French officials.

Though the Home Office has not confirmed how much would be handed over to ensure continued security in the region, operations at Eurotunnel terminals and ports in Coquelles, Calais, and Dunkirk alone could cost up to £80 million, reports The Times.

Last week, Home Secretary Amber Rudd met with the Minister of the Interior of France, Gérard Collomb, in London to discuss the border. A Home Office spokesman later confirmed that the UK will “work closely with the French authorities at all levels to reduce migrant pressures”.

MERKEL MUSS WEG!??

Now, just to review, you'll recall that Mad Madam Merkel went to the polls a little over a month ago, and the results were... well, less than good for her coalition government. For one thing, the SDP (Social Democrat Party) wasn't going to be participating in any future coalitions. The former Foreign Minister, Herr Steinmeir, had exited the federal cabinet and been "promoted," and perhaps more importantly, the former Finance Minister, Herr Schauble (sorry folks, no umlauts!) also left the cabinet. Of the two, I think the Schauble exit from Mad Madam Merkel's cabinet is the more significant. Between the two, this was quite a loss of brainpower. Schauble, you'll also recall, was the finance minister who showed up in China for a G8 "gathering" a couple of years ago, and told it like it is: the debt growth model is over, there's no way forward that's not a reform.

Six Members of ISIS Cell Planning Possible Christmas Market Attack Arrested in Terror Raids

Police launched raids on addresses across Germany overnight on Tuesday, arresting six Syrian men suspected of plotting a mass casualty terror attack with “weapons or explosives” in the country.

According to the Frankfurt attorney general, the arrested men are supporters of Islamic State and are suspected of having planned a”serious state-damaging act of violence” with “weapons or explosives on a public target”, reports German broadsheet Die Welt.

The men are thought to have travelled to Europe under false identities, posing as refugees — but were actually terror fighters.

Self-inflicted injuries surge among tween and early teen girls

Overall, the annual rate of self-inflicted injuries among both males and females ages 10 through 24 increased from 201.6 per 100,000 to 303.7 between 2001 and 2015.

But among males, self-inflicted injury rates remained stable, the researchers found.

Females alone contributed to the upward trend. The annual rate of self-inflicted injuries among females 10 through 24 rose from 245.5 per 100,000 in 2001 to 434 per 100,000 in 2015, an increase of 8.4% each year.

Poisoning -- such as an overdose of medication -- was the most common method of injury for girls, though self-inflicted injuries with a sharp object increased during the study period.

Before 2009, the annual rate of ER visits for females with self-injuries showed no dramatic change. It was after 2009 that a significant uptick occurred, particularly among the youngest girls.

New evidence shows the sugar industry suppressed studies linking sugar to heart disease and cancer

For decades, sugar lobbyists have been taking aim at studies linking sugar and cancer.

When a study last year found that mice on sugar-heavy diets were more likely to develop breast cancer, the Sugar Association, one of the biggest sugar lobbying groups in the US, called it “sensationalized.” The group insists that “no credible link between ingested sugars and cancer has been established.”

But doctors and researchers claim the sugar industry may have been intentionally keeping research about that link from getting published. A new study inthe journalPLOS Biology reveals how the Sugar Association worked to suppress scientific findings on the harmful effects of table sugar on rodents nearly 50 years ago.

Uber Paid Hackers to Delete Stolen Data on 57 Million People

Hackers stole the personal data of 57 million customers and drivers from Uber Technologies Inc., a massive breach that the company concealed for more than a year. This week, the ride-hailing firm ousted its chief security officer and one of his deputies for their roles in keeping the hack under wraps, which included a $100,000 payment to the attackers.

Compromised data from the October 2016 attack included names, email addresses and phone numbers of 50 million Uber riders around the world, the company told Bloomberg on Tuesday. The personal information of about 7 million drivers was accessed as well, including some 600,000 U.S. driver’s license numbers. No Social Security numbers, credit card information, trip location details or other data were taken, Uber said.

I recently attended a public event with US military recruiters present. I walked by their display table wondering if any of them knew they recruit for lie-started and illegal Wars of Aggression. I made eye contact with one, who instantly responded with a friendly greeting. This is roughly the conversation after I answered that I’m a high school teacher.

Recruiter: Hey, could I come to your classroom sometime to discuss military careers with your students?

Carl: Ok, let’s talk. This is what I see and would include if you’d like to come to my class: the US wars are the opposite of legal, and from disclosed top-level documentation of our own government were started with “reasons” that were lies known to be lies as they were told.

THIS WOMAN STANDS WITH JUDGE ROY MOORE by Sylvia Thompson on 11 November, 2017

As has become the pattern with the Left when they are being eviscerated politically, they trot out the vilest of accusations against whomever fits their latest challenge. Judge Roy Moore, who recently won the Alabama state primary against a more establishment Republican candidate, is their new challenge, and like clockwork they have found a “victim” to throw at the judge’s feet.

Judge Moore, like President Trump, is one to be feared. He is a fierce fighter for conservative and Christian causes, and that alone renders him a severe threat to the Republican establishment and the ungodly Left. I sincerely hope he is ready to take on this latest attempt to keep him out of the Senate.

Bill Clinton’s sex jet….Air F**k One

Back in the late 1990s, Clinton paid $850,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit by Paula Jones, a former Arkansas state employee whose case led to Clinton’s impeachment in the House of Representatives and his subsequent acquittal by the Senate in 1999.

The negotiations in the new lawsuits are said to have reached a critical stage.

If they fail, according to sources in Clinton’s inner circle, the four women are said to be ready to air their accusations of sexual assault at a press conference, making Clinton the latest — and most famous — figure in a long list of men from Harvey Weinstein to Kevin Spacey who have recently been accused of sexual assault.

Google’s Eric Schmidt, arbiter of news, has long history with Obama & Clinton

In one of John Podesta's leaked emails, the long-time Clinton confidant and chairman of her presidential campaign told her soon-to-be campaign manager Robby Mook that he had met with Schmidt in April 2014, more than a year before Clinton told the American public that she was hoping to become their next president.

Moscow brands as ‘bogus’ report that US military was allowed on India’s Russian-made submarine

Reports of India allowing a group of US military officials to visit the Russian-made INS Chakra – an Indian Navy attack submarine – are not based in reality, the head of the Russian military cooperation agency said.

Claims of a rift in Russian-Indian military cooperation were reported last week by the defense news website StrategyPage, and circulated in Russia by business daily Kommersant. The report claimed that India had allowed a group of US Navy personnel to visit the Russian-made Chakra attack submarine, in violation of the lease contract. The nuclear-powered Chakra was transferred to the Indian Navy in 2012 after serving for three years under the name Nerpa in Russia.

Commenting on the claim on Monday, Dmitry Shugaev, the head of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, called the report “bogus.”

According to Slychkova, the member of the Russian upper house was detained and “transferred to a police station” after arriving from Moscow to Nice late on Monday.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said that it has informed French authorities that Kerimov is a Russian senator with a diplomatic passport, and as such, entitled to immunity.

'I have been hit, kicked and restrained from behind - by FIRST-GRADERS': At least 45 Pennsylvania teachers resign in just three months due to student violence and those that remain are 'begging' for help from school board

Dozens of teachers have quit their jobs in Pennsylvania's capital city amid a wave of violence from students as early as the first grade, it has emerged.
The Harrisburg Education Association (HEA) said that at least 45 teachers resigned between July and October, and more have followed since. Those who remain are now demanding more help from administrators.
'I have been kicked, punched, hit, scratched. I've had a student physically restraining me in front of my other students,' first-grade teacher Amanda Shaeffer told board members, according to Penn Live.

Outbreak Alert: Hepatitis A Outbreak In Salt Lake City Expected To Last MONTHS - Mac Slavo

Salt Lake City, Utah is only one of three major cities in the United States experiencing a Hepatitis A outbreak. And now health officials are warning residents to protect themselves against infection, as the outbreak is expected to last for “months.”

There seems to be no end in sight for the cities grabbling with Hepatitis A outbreaks. Spurred by over-regulation and taxation, homelessness is now the norm in many US cities, Salt Lake City being no different. And Health officials in Utah now believe they could continue to see new cases of Hepatitis A for the next several months.

The first outbreak of Hep A began in back in May in San Diego, but Salt Lake City started to notice serious issues in August. Since then, at least 75 cases have been reported statewide. With at least 3-4 new cases being discovered each week. The normal amount of Hepatitis A cases is around 2-4 per year.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This has to be more than a little terrifying for health care workers, and the people who live in Salt Lake City.

The Great Retirement Con - Adam Taggart

So, it’s little surprise that the 1970s and ’80s saw the introduction of personal retirement savings plans. The Individual Retirement Arrangement (IRA) was formed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) in 1974. And the first 401k plan was created in 1980.

These savings vehicles are defined contribution plans. The future payout of the plan is variable (i.e., unknown today), and will be largely a function of how much of their income the worker directs into the fund over their career, as well as the market return on the fund’s investments.

Touted as a revolutionary improvement for the worker, these plans promised to give the individual power over his/her own financial destiny. No longer would it be dictated by their employer.

Your company doesn’t offer a pension? No worries: open an IRA and create your own personal pension fund.

Afraid your employer might mismanage your pension fund? A 401k removes that risk. You decide how your retirement money is invested.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is little more than a shuffle/hustle which gives people the illusion that they actually have real money for retirement, when they absolutely do not.

The crime and the ensuing investigation would forever be referred to as simply "Watergate" and resulted in President Richard Nixon's resignation. Nixon's closest assistants, John Ehrlichman, and H.R. Israel's Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Monday he had requested an additional 4.8 billion shekels (1.37 billion U.S. dollars) for the defense budget due to recent changes in the region.

"There has been a major and dramatic change that led us to request a supplement to the defense budget," the minister said during a briefing for reporters.

According to Lieberman, the main changes included a deep Russian involvement in Syria, in addition to Iranian presence and the introduction of more accurate missiles owned by Hezbollah, an Iran-backed Lebanese militia.

Putin Holds Surprise Meeting With Assad, Will Call Trump By Phone Later Tuesday

One day before meeting with the leaders of Iran and Turkey in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a surprise meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Bashar al-Assad, kicking off a diplomatic drive this week to outline the terms of an end to the Middle Eastern country’s bloody civil war. The two leaders discussed the political process in Syria, with the Russian leader saying that the fight against terrorism in the crisis-stricken country is close to completion. Perhaps even more notably, Putin said he would speak by phone with President Donald Trump later Tuesday.

Assad’s visit, which wasn’t publicly announced until the following day, echoed a similar trip to Russia that he made in 2015 shortly after Putin launched his air and ground campaign in Syria. The campaign turned the tide in the war in favor of the embattled Syrian president, whom western nations have long sought to see removed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Lebanese Army On "Full Combat Readiness" At Southern Border To Counter "Israeli Enemy"

Two days after Israel provided the first ever official confirmation of covert ties with Saudi Arabia, a step many analysts see as a precursor to future conflict in the Middle East involving adversaries Iran and Lebanon, on Tuesday the head of the Lebanese Army told the military to be at “full combat readiness” to face “the Israeli enemy” at the country's southern border. The announcement comes as Arab nations, including Saudi Arabia, vow to tighten their grip on Lebanon’s Hezbollah militia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It would not surprise me much if both Saudi Arabia and Israel went into Lebanon this weekend, with Americans collectively sedated from all the tryptophane in the turkey they consumed for Thanksgiving, and focused on football and Christmas shopping.

I hope that I am wrong, but I am intuiting a massive buildup in tensions in the Middle East, from the Saudi purge, and the its government's statements that both Lebanon and Iran had begun a war against it.

You cannot keep any army on highest alert for a long period of time without sacrificing energy and awareness of those troops; I suspect that some movement from Israel and/or Saudi Arabia against Lebanon may well be imminent.

US Airstrike In Somalia Kills More Than 100 al-Shabab Militants

More than 100 al-Shabaab militants were killed Tuesday in the latest US airstrike in Somalia the Pentagon announced, the latest in a series of strikes against the al Qaeda affiliated group and ISIS fighters in the war-torn country meant to support the local government. The strike occurred 125 miles northwest of the capital of Mogadishu, and was the 29th such strike since the start of 2017, and 7th since November 9.

The Pentagon released the following statement commemorating the latest airstrike:

U.S. Conducts Airstrike in Support of the Federal Government of Somalia

In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. forces conducted an airstrike in Somalia against an al-Shabaab camp on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at approximately 10:30 a.m. local Somalia time, killing more than 100 militants. The operation occurred 125 miles northwest of the capital, Mogadishu.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US government is in Somalia for the same reason it has garrisoned so much of the rest of the planet; to regime-change its government to a more Western/US centric government; expropriate its resources, to which the US govenment and those corporations which own it have utterly no moral right; and to insure that these goods are only sold to countries of which we approve, and only for US dollars.

Nearly 200 Million People Are “Modern Slaves” or Child Laborers

According to a report by the United Nations’ International Labour Organization, nearly 200 million people are victims of modern slavery or child labor around the globe. In 2016, 40.3 million men, women and children were victims of modern slavery. Nearly one in ten children, or 151.6 million people, are victims of child labor.

The report defines “modern slavery” as “the various forms of coercion prohibited in international instruments on human rights and labour standards.” This definition includes slavery, state-imposed forced labor, forced marriage, and human trafficking. One in four victims of forced labor are children, and 71 percent of total victims are female.

On any given day in 2016, approximately 16 million individuals were forced to work in the private sector. More than half of this labor involves the domestic, construction and manufacturing sectors. On average, victims are held for 20.5 months before escaping or being released.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Only way to get this exploitation to stop, is by naming and shaming those corporations making a killing (literally and figuratively), by exploiting child and slave labor.

Let's start with some of the most egregious examples:

10 companies which still use child labor

5 companies still using slave labor

Top 28 companies still using Child Labor

Stop Supporting Child Slavery by Avoiding these 7 Companies

Finding the names of current heads of these corporations is pretty easy; then, a polite phone call needs to be made to these people, informing them (or their executive assistants) that you will refuse to buy the products they create, because they are created with child/slave labour.

One call won't make a difference, but a number of phone calls, polite and literate in their tone, will indicate to that corporate head that there is an issue, and rethink the way it sources product. Consumers do have more power than they believe, and this is one of the areas where we can make a positive difference.

An Ethereum Startup Just Vanished After People Invested $374K

A startup on the Ethereum platform vanished from the internet on Sunday after raising $374,000 USD from investors in an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) fundraiser.

Confido is a startup that pitched itself as a blockchain-based app for making payments and tracking shipments. It sold digital tokens to investors over the Ethereum blockchain in an ICO that ran from November 6 to 8. During the token sale, Confido sold people bespoke digital tokens that represent their investment in exchange for ether, Ethereum’s digital currency.

But on Sunday, the company unceremoniously deleted its Twitter account and took down its website.

U.S. MILITARY SHOULD ‘CHOKE’ NORTH KOREA TO ‘SUBMISSION,’ RETIRED NAVY LIEUTENANT SAYS

President Donald Trump should deploy a naval blockade against North Korea in order to stop its nuclear weapons program, argues retired Navy Lieutenant Commander Gregory Keely.

Keely, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and was also a senior advisor to the House Armed Services Committee and House Foreign Relations Committee, believes that a naval blockade is the best tactic to get Kim Jon Un to abandon his drive to obtain nuclear warheads that reach the U.S.

“Like sanctions, blockades are designed to slowly choke the recalcitrant nation to submission,” he writes in a recent op-ed for The Hill. “Unlike sanctions, a blockade provides the capabilities to monitor, intercept and enforce restrictions on what can go in and out of the target nation while providing a powerful psychological and diplomatic instrument.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having a double Jon-Luc Picard facepalm, at warp speed, upon reading this.

Apparently, this retired Navy Lieutenant Commander Gregory Keely suffers from an acute intellectual deficiency shared others in civilian and military leadership, and this is the pathological inability to think a scenario through to its logical conclusion.

I would very much like to politely ask the gentleman, please, how this is NOT going to get China at war, on North Korea's side, should such a blockade be undertaken by the US military?!?

Your every keystroke is recorded by more than 400 of the world's most popular websites, including Spotify and Skype, to log your private data

Some of the web's most popular sites could be tracking your every move, a shocking new study has found.

Hundreds of homepages, including those of Microsoft, Adobe and Wordpress, use secret code, called 'session replay' scripts, to monitor your online activity.

Hidden strings of data are used to record everything you do while visiting a page, including what you type and where you move your mouse.

This could be used by third parties to reveal everything from credit card details to medical complaints, as well as putting you at risk of identity theft and online scams.

Data release: list of websites that have third-party “session replay” scripts:

A million children orphaned by the Syrian war

As many as a million children have been orphaned by the war in Syria which is in its sixth year.

The UN has warned against the dangers facing children without parents such as lack of education, trafficking and being indoctrinated by armed groups.

Many children are living in orphanages being run by local charities both inside Syria and abroad.

"I was five years old when Shabiha attacked and rounded everyone up," said Mariam al Shalan, an orphan from Homs.

"Then they opened fire and killed everyone. My mother came in fornt of us and took the bullets.

"My mother asked me for water. When I came back, she was dead. Me and my brother spent two days under the blood and the bodies."

In a centre for orphans in the opposition-controlled city of Idlib, almost every child that has been affected by the war suffers from trauma and psychological stress

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is a huge degree of responsibility the US government should bear for creating so many orphans in Syria, by backing, funding, and training the alleged "moderate rebels" (of which there were none), and getting so many Syrian moms, dads, and family members assassinated, in their attempt to destabilize the Al Assad government.

Of course, it won't; in the minds of Pentagon, State Department, and White House Planners, "The Ends Justify the means", even when the means translates to the slaughter of innocents; the people killed are not even people anymore, just "collateral damage."

It was El Reg wot won it: Bing banishes bogus Brit bank banner ad

Microsoft has axed a Bing search result advert that masqueraded as a legit online banking website – but was in fact a sophisticated phishing operation.

Searching for "TSB" – as in the UK's TSB Bank – on the Great Britain edition of Bing would bring up, right at the top of the page, a search ad for a phishing website described as "TSB – Welcome to TSB UK – Online Personal Account". Clicking on the link would direct marks to a phishing page pretending to be the bank's login portal, we're told.

A Reg reader told us he tried to report the fraudulent ad to Microsoft, and to TSB, yet the advert remained on search result pages. So he turned to us, we prodded Redmond, and over the weekend, the ad and the account that created it were black holed. Hooray.

The situation in the Middle East is developing. The expected conflict between the resistance axis, primarily Hezbollah, and the Saudi-Israeli block is the current center of attention.

It will not turn Syria into a military base against Israel,” he said.

Windows 8 broke Microsoft's memory randomisation

A Carnegie-Mellon CERT researcher has discovered that Microsoft broke some use-cases for its Address Space Layout Randomisation (ASLR), designed to block code-reuse attacks.

US Airstrikes Target Taliban Opium Labs

In a move Pentagon officials say is directed at Taliban revenue streams, US F-22 stealth fighters and B-52 Stratofortress bombers attacked what they’re describing as “opium labs” in the northern part of the Helmand Province.

A pair of buildings were destroyed in the attack, which Gen. John Nicholson claimed caused “minimal collateral damage.” Nicholson noted there was a third building they didn’t attack, claiming it was to avoid civilian casualties.

Mich of Helmand Province is dedicated to opium farming, which is why the Taliban has long been interested in controlling the area. This talk of labs and factories is new, however, and it’s not clear what these buildings were actually for.

Webmaster's Commentary:

TRANSLATION: IF, in fact, these were heroin production labs, the US military may well have just taken out its competition for these resources.

Critical Flaws in Intel Processors Leave Millions of PCs Vulnerable

The most severe vulnerability (CVE-2017-5705) involves multiple buffer overflow issues in the operating system kernel for Intel ME Firmware that could allow attackers with local access to the vulnerable system to "load and execute code outside the visibility of the user and operating system."

The chipmaker has also described a high-severity security issue (CVE-2017-5708) involving multiple privilege escalation bugs in the operating system kernel for Intel ME Firmware that could allow an unauthorized process to access privileged content via an unspecified vector.

Systems using Intel Manageability Engine Firmware version 11.0.x.x, 11.5.x.x, 11.6.x.x, 11.7.x.x, 11.10.x.x and 11.20.x.x are impacted by these vulnerabilities.

Why Are We Helping Saudi Arabia Destroy Yemen?

It’s remarkable that whenever you read an article about Yemen in the mainstream media, the central role of Saudi Arabia and the United States in the tragedy is glossed over or completely ignored. A recent Washington Post article purporting to tell us “how things got so bad” explains to us that, “it’s a complicated story” involving “warring regional superpowers, terrorism, oil, and an impending climate catastrophe.”

No, Washington Post, it’s simpler than that. The tragedy in Yemen is the result of foreign military intervention in the internal affairs of that country. It started with the “Arab Spring” which had all the fingerprints of State Department meddling, and it escalated with 2015’s unprovoked Saudi attack on the country to reinstall Riyadh’s preferred leader. Thousands of innocent civilians have been killed and millions more are at risk as starvation and cholera rage.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dr. Paul, some of us, particularly contributors to WRH, HAVE been paying attention.

And what we are seeing, is a clear case of the US government colluding in Saudi war crimes; the assassinations and maiming of Yemeni children; starvation of Yemeni children to death, and the introduction of (perhaps weaponized) cholera to the country, which has slain, and will slay, countless more.

In fact, I am somewhat amazed that Prince Bin Salman hasn't ordered an all-out carpet bombing of the country, not allowing one one Yemeni individual to survive.

Perhaps that is the next step in the Butcher of Yemen's strategy.

The analogy of which I am most clearly reminded, is that if the response by the Papal Legate, who ordered a seige of the the Cathars, holding out at Montsegeur, France. When informed by his soldiers that women, children, and infants, were with the beseiged men, he gave the following order: "Kill them all; God will find his own."

But I can tell you that I am profoundly morally uncomfortable, being a citizen of a country for whose leadership, the commission of war crimes in Yemen "is no big deal"; but then again, I have always known, or at least intuited, that those on their way to seizing and consolidating political, financial, or military power in this country, have had their consciences surgically removed.

Australia welcomes scrapping of French wind farm on WW1 killing fields

Canberra Tuesday welcomed as "very touching" the scrapping of a planned French wind farm on the site of a World War I battlefield where thousands of Australian soldiers died.

Many bodies were never found, and the planned site for the wind farm is a natural burial ground near the Bullecourt memorial that is visited regularly by Australian families.

What the collapse of coalition talks could mean for Germany and Europe

In Germany’s biggest political upset in years, FDP liberals walked out on coalition talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservatives and the Greens. So what is Merkel’s next move? We take a look at the possible scenarios.
Is there any hope for the "Jamaica coalition"?
Merkel could suggest a cooling-off period for the four parties - her CDU and their Bavarian allies the CSU, the Greens and the FDP - that have been struggling to form a coalition for more than a month, before inviting them back for a new round of talks.

Yet their differences over immigration, climate and Europe seem irreconcilable. The greatest rift was between the FDP and the Greens, according to the CDU’s Jens Spahn, who told ZDF TV that negotiations between the CDU-CSU and FDP “would have been finished in two weeks”.

OFFICIALS CAUGHT FORCING STATE SCIENTIST TO ALTER FINDINGS TO COVER UP EARTHQUAKE FRACKING LINK

Hydraulic fracturing is a natural gas extraction method that has become extremely controversial for its environmental impacts. Fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high-pressure water mixture is directed at the rock to release the gas inside. Water, sand, and chemicals are injected into the rock at high pressure, which allows the gas to flow out to the head of the well. Wastewater produced from this process is highly toxic and filled with a variety of chemicals.

In many cases, people who live near fracking sites have been able to set fire to the water and air that comes through their pipes. It has also been found to contaminate drinking water. Unfortunately, fracking is still somewhat popular publicly because people know very little about it and it is also popular politically because all of the politicians have a hand in it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but is this not somewhat akin to forcing a radiologist to "touch up" an x-ray, to assure the patient that their cancer isn't really so bad?!?

US thinks presence in Syria is legal

The United States received no permission from the United Nations to intervene in Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday, 16 November. “We were surprised to hear a statement made by US Defense Secretary James Mattis when talking to the US media representatives, on November 13, that the US Armed Forces are in Syria “with the permission of the UN,” Zakharova said. Her comments were made after Secretary of Defense, James Mattis, said that Washington’s intervention in Syria had been approved by the United Nations.

“I want to remind you that the Security Council is the only agency under the UN Charter that is entitled to take decisions on using military force,” she said, adding that no such decision has been taken. “The US forces are there contrary to the wishes of Syria’s legitimate government, in fact acting as occupants,” the diplomat stressed.

‘US invaded Afghanistan to restore heroin industry’

Webmaster's Commentary:

This narrative is very hard to hear, as someone who values peace and social justice, but this is the brutal reality of why we stayed so long in Vietnam, when the war the US was fighting was unwinnable, and why we have stayed so long in Afghanistan, when this war is also unwinnable.

This is a $1.5 trillion dollar industry, the profits from which are used to fund "off the shelf" operations for various US "alphabet soup" agencies use, over which Congress has utterly no oversight whatsoever.

It is sobering to think that the biggest drug pusher in the US ... is the US government itself.

It's about the drugs; it's about the money that is made by these drugs, and about the massive money made by laundering the money on these drugs, which large financial houses love to do.
