3 people were injured in a shooting at a Maryland high school, officials say

Three people were injured in a shooting at Great Mills High School in Maryland on Tuesday morning, according to Andrew Ponti, an official with the St. Mary's County public information office.

There are no fatalities reported at this time, Ponti said. It's unclear if the shooter is among the injured, he said.

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting and said the event has been contained. The school was on lockdown for a brief time but students are now being evacuated from Great Mills High School to a reunification center at a nearby high school, the school district said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Looks like the gun-grabbers are going to keep shooting up schools until they get rid of the second amendment!

Police find guns and ammunition at home of high school student in Gardena threat case

Gardena (Calif.) police found several guns and a cache of ammunition at the home of a high school student who threatened campus violence in two social media posts this week, authorities said. The investigation began Thursday when police received a call regarding a threat to Serra High School, according to the Gardena Police Department. Investigators identified a student who posted a threatening message earlier this week. (See? If police are competent and properly respond to threats, the problem is easily averted. Unlike in Parkland, Florida where police & FBI ignored 40+ calls about the maniac.)

Israeli Courts Denies Ahed Tamimi’s Request For Public Trial

Israel’s military appeals court ruled on Monday against an appeal by 17-year-old Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi and her defense team to hold the teenager’s trial proceedings in open court, citing historical “benefit” of closed-door trials for minors.

After she was indicted for slapping and kicking an Israeli soldier, a military court decided to close the hearings to the public, citing her rights as a minor to privacy — a claim Tamimi’s family and defense team claim were never afforded to her in the first place.>>>

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, along with 18 members of the House of Representatives—15 Republicans and three Democrats—has sent a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions demanding that the Qatari-run Al-Jazeera television network register as a foreign agent under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). The letter was issued after Al-Jazeera said it planned to air a documentary by a reporter who went undercover to look into the Israel lobby in the United States. The action by the senator and the House members follows the decision by the Justice Department to force RT America to register as a foreign agent and the imposition of algorithms by Facebook, Google and Twitter that steer traffic away from left-wing, anti-war and progressive websites, including Truthdig. It also follows December’s abolition of net neutrality.

The letter asks the Justice Department to investigate “reports that Al Jazeera infiltrated American non-profit organizations.”>>>

The Israeli army quietly conducted a military exercise last week that simulated a multi-front war where Russia intervened to prevent Israel from attacking Syria, Haaretz reports. Haaretz noted that Israel prepared for the scenario in which a war with Hezbollah in Lebanon would require the Israeli military to fight on other fronts — most likely Syria — where Hezbollah retains a significant military presence.

From there, servicemen accompanied four persons from a house believed to contain Daesh* leaders of Iraqi nationality to the helicopters, which then evacuated them from the area to an unknown destination.

Border wall Dreamers deal implodes

The White House and congressional Democrats traded immigration offers futilely over the weekend, according to three sources familiar with the talks, leaving little chance of an immediate deal to protect Dreamers.

The White House on Sunday made an 11th-hour push to include billions of dollars in border wall funding in a massive congressional spending bill due this week, but it clashed with congressional Democrats over how far to go in protecting young immigrants who face deportation, the sources said.

White House officials asked Democrats to approve $25 billion for President Donald Trump’s border wall in exchange for extending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program through fall of 2020, those sources said. That would give Trump his full wall funding request in the must-pass spending bill and still give him leverage over the DACA program heading into his 2020 reelection campaign.

Channeling Goebbels: Guardian goes full fascist in its portrayal of Putin

In early 1935, the Nazis unleashed an anti-Bolshevik campaign which it initiated with a series of traveling exhibits on the dangers of world Communism. This poster comes from the exhibit in Karlsruhe, the capital city of the German state of Baden. But its imagery is found in almost all of the posters of this exhibit.

Here Bolshevism is represented as a huge red spider, whose head is the familiar grinning skull topped with the red star. Sitting in the Soviet Union, the legs of the spider can still reach out to threaten the entire world.
The Guardian rip-off of Josef Goebbels' Nazi propaganda even copied the red star associated with communist ideology. How stupid - Putin and today's Russia are as capitalistic as it gets.

Trey Gowdy: Trump Has Done More to Combat Russia Than Obama

Rep. Trey Gowdy made waves over the weekend when he completely blew up the Democrat line on Trump and Russia.

For months, we’ve heard nothing from the liberal press other than that Trump is soft on Russia, and is letting Vladimir Putin get his way in international affairs. We’ve also been told that Russia is working fervently to undermine American democracy while Trump fiddles with his thumbs and plays on Twitter.

Well, Gowdy put that narrative up against the wall and plugged it full of rhetorical bullets. Here’s what he said on Fox News Sunday when asked about Trump’s response to Russia:

“I think he’s done a hell of a lot better job than President Obama did. It wasn’t Donald Trump who laughed when Mitt Romney said Russia was our number one geopolitical enemy and it wasn’t President Trump who handed that awkward reset button to the Russians and it wasn’t President Trump who said on a hot mic, ‘I’ll have more flexibility in the second term.’ All of that was Obama.”

U.S. Military Working To Deploy Robot Ground Vehicles For Urban Combat By 2020

“Every year, more and more of the world’s population moves into cities. The number of megacities is growing exponentially. Both of these global patterns and their inevitable consequences for military operations are well documented. Yet we still do not have units that are even remotely prepared to operate in megacities. If we want to find success on the urban battlefields the US Army will inevitably find itself fighting on in the future, that needs to change.” — John Spencer, West Point scholar and former Ranger Instructor

Report: Ukrainian pilot blamed by Russia for MH17 crash commits suicide

A Ukrainian military pilot accused of shooting down a Malaysia Airlines flight has committed suicide, according to a Ukrainian media report that cites the police.

Ukrainian media says 29-year-old Capt. Vladyslav Voloshyn shot himself at his home, but his death is being investigated under the "premeditated murder" section of the Ukrainian penal code. A military service pistol found at the scene is also being looked at.

According to the BBC, Voloshyn had been in charge of the Mykolaiv airport after leaving the airforce. Before that, he flew combat missions against Russian-backed rebels, and was described by Ukraine as a war hero. However, Russia accused him of shooting down MH-17 in 2014, an allegation he called a lie.

All of the 298 passengers and crew of the Malaysia Airlines flight were killed. An international probe found that a missile was fired from a rebel-controlled territory by a launcher trucked in from Russia. However, Russia has denied any involvement.

Ukraine: A female fixer on the front lines

For fixers, news stories are often personal.

Equipped with intimate local knowledge, they find stories, secure interviews, and translate for correspondents who may have little experience in the country they are reporting from.

Long after those correspondents have left, fixers remain in their communities.

If they become associated with a controversial story, the consequences can be severe - public backlash, imprisonment or worse - regardless of whether the fixer had any influence over how the story was told.

In 2017, 450 fixers and reporters were asked about their relationship for a survey by the Global Reporting Centre.

How Britain Destroyed the Palestinian Homeland

When I was a child growing up in a Gaza refugee camp, I looked forward to November 2. On that day, every year, thousands of students and camp residents would descend upon the main square of the camp, carrying Palestinian flags and placards, to denounce the Balfour Declaration.

Truthfully, my giddiness then was motivated largely by the fact that schools would inevitably shut down and, following a brief but bloody confrontation with the Israeli army, I would go home early to the loving embrace of my mother, where I would eat a snack and watch cartoons.

At the time, I had no idea who Balfour actually was, and how his "declaration" all those years ago had altered the destiny of my family and, by extension, my life and the lives of my children as well.

Americans have a constitutional right to boycott Israel

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) concluded its annual policy conference last week with a lobbying day on Capitol Hill. High on its legislative agenda was advocating for bills that would penalise Americans for engaging in their First Amendment-protected right to boycott for Palestinian rights.

AIPAC conference attendees pressed their elected officials to support the Israel Anti-Boycott Act, sponsored by Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD). The original, draconian version of this bill, unveiled at last year's AIPAC conference, proposed to jail individuals for 20 years if they advanced an international organization's call for a boycott of Israel, or even of products from its illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Parkland Survivor To Trump: 'Show Us That You Aren't Owned By The NRA'

Two student survivors of last month’s deadly shooting at a Parkland, Florida, high school are urging President Donald Trump to break his ties with the National Rifle Association and live up to his pledge to push for stricter U.S. gun laws.

In a Monday interview with CNN, David Hogg and Alfonso Calderon expressed disappointment over the White House’s new gun and school safety proposals, which include arming teachers to help prevent future on-campus shootings. But dropped from the plan was Trump’s call to raise the legal age for buying certain firearms ? including semi-automatic rifles ? from 18 to 21 years old.

Trump endorsed changing the age requirement last month during a bipartisan meeting with lawmakers at the White House in the wake of the Florida shooting in which the suspected gunman used a semi-automatic rifle. The NRA, however, quickly came out against the age proposal.

France to get tougher on social media hate speech: PM

France will toughen rules on hate speech to ensure social media giants do more to remove racist and anti-Semitic content from internet, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said on Monday.

The announcement comes as the 28 European Union countries work on rules that would compel Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google to be more proactive in filtering and weeding out hate speech on their platforms.

"These days a newspaper director is criminally responsible if hateful comments are posted on its website but if you run a social network anything goes," Philippe said in a speech on France's policy on racism.

"Nobody is going to convince me that the social networks live in space. What gets published and circulated in France is published and circulated in France and must answer to the laws of the French republic."

Philippe said France would tighten up its own rules pending progress at EU level, but did not elaborate on when or how.

Parents furious after 7 year-old, ‘the only white girl in her class,’ cast to play supremacist…

A Georgia school district is investigating after a 7-year-old student, “the only white girl in her class,” according to her father, was cast to play a segregationist in a school play.

In a video of the play, 7-year-old Anastasia Bertram, playing the part of a segregationist, yelled at a group of black children to “go away, you don’t belong here!” She then marched with a sign that read, “Go home,” on one side and “Cursed is the man who integrates” on the other.

Douglas County School District said it is investigating the March 2 incident at Burnett Elementary School in Douglasville, after the girl’s parents complained that they were never notified about their daughter’s involvement in the play, and that they had no idea the nature of her role until they were sitting in the audience.

Assessing Russia's Military Strength

There is a popular point of view in some of Russia’s political circles, especially among those who profess monarchist views and cling to a famous meme of 1913 Tsarist Russia development statistics, that WW I was started by Germany to forestall Russia’s industrial development which would inevitably challenge Germany’s plans on domination of Europe. A somewhat similar argument could be made for the WW II, but, in general, preventive wars are nothing new in human history. While “preventive” argument may or may not be a valid one regarding WW I, there is no doubt that it could be used, among others, when explaining the origins of a war.

Chaos is a certainty: The lack of preparedness among city people is truly horrifying

Most people who live in cities are stunningly unprepared for almost any kind of disruption, and the situation has grown far worse in recent years. Although I usually stay out of large cities, I just finished some travel that took me through several cities (and a few suburban areas, too), giving me a fresh new look at the situation. My conclusion? Red alert alarms are going off about the exploding problem of homelessness, lawlessness, gang activity, open drug use and what seems to be a bizarre lack of self-reliance now demonstrated in the cities I visited.

Scandal around Skripal case related to Syria - Russia’s Foreign Ministry

The anti-Russia scandal whipped up by the United Kingdom around the case of former GRU military intelligence colonel Sergei Skripal has a connection to Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Rossiya’24 TV channel on Saturday.

"The world should have been shown somehow that in fact Russia is not a peacemaker, but it plays a some sort of own game. Immediately, a new spiral of anti-Russia campaign has surfaced embodied in statements of the UK prime minister," she said. "It is the first track linking these two stories (Russia’s activity in Syria and Skripal case - TASS)."

"The anti-Russian campaign is obvious," she said. "The second track is an alleged theme of chemical weapons.".

The Joy and Necessity of Driving Liberals Nuts

Is the foundation of our revolt against the elites – which the liberals and the Fredocons call “Trumpism” because they don’t want to face the fact that Normals are tired of their corruption and incompetence – merely trolling by a bunch of malcontents? True, we do enjoy messing with them. You look at the avatar of the movement, Donald Trump, and he’s the Trollmaster Level XII Emeritus. This guy lays down the smack, and a lot of Americans are delighted by his antics.

But is that all this is? Is our movement simply about slamming the people we’re annoyed at and nothing more?

Of course not.
