Israel advances military technology with project for an invisible to radar tank

The Israeli Defense Ministry released video footage showing new aircraft being tested – includinga hovering drone, whose weaponry is designed primarily as sniper fire. There are two new drone projects: the first is a kind of drone helicopter, made by Israel Aerospace Industries, that would be capable of carrying up to 180 kilograms (396 pounds) of cargo; the second is a drone produced by Aeronautics Defense Systems with a hybrid engine, capable of carrying up to 90 kilograms. Israel has future plans for a tank that is to be equipped with technology – currently under development – that would make it a tank version of the F-35 stealth bomber, which is invisible on radar. Plans call for the tank to have just two crew members and be “transparent,” which would allow the crew to see the area around the tank without getting outside of it. .

Royal Navy a 'laughing stock' with three quarters of its warships out of action and 'struggling to protect British citizens'

The Royal Navy can only send a quarter of its warships to sea due to spending cuts which have left the armed forces "struggling to protect Britain's citizens", the Telegraph has learned.

Currently 13 of the Navy's 19-strong fleet of Type 23 frigates and Type 45 destroyers are unable to go to sea due to a lack of manpower, fuel and supplies, senior military sources have revealed.

The cuts to defence spending have also severely hampered Britain’s response to Hurricane Irma.

HMS Ocean, the amphibious assault ship that currently serves as the Royal Navy’s flagship, was sent to provide support to the British overseas territories in the Caribbean but suffered engine problems and has now been delayed by a week.

China sets up first 'hack-proof' commercial quantum network

China has set up its first “commercial” quantum network in its northern province of Shandong, state media said, the country's latest step in advancing a technology expected to enable “hack-proof” communications.

China touts that it is at the forefront of developing quantum technology. In August it said it sent its first “unbreakable” quantum code from an experimental satellite to the earth. The Pentagon has called the launch of that satellite a year earlier a “notable advance”.

Now the country's “first commercial quantum private communication network” has been setup for exclusive use by more than 200 government and official users in Shandong's provincial capital Jinan, the official Xinhua news agency said late on Tuesday.

It did not elaborate on how the system would be commercially operated.

Here are 6 old technologies Apple wants you to think are revolutionary

We know, we know. Apple takes its time to do new technologies “right,” not “first.” But if you watched Apple’s September 12 announcements for the iPhone 8, iPhone X, Apple TV 4K and Apple Watch Series 3, you might be wondering just how long it takes to perfect an animated 3D turd.

While Apple acolytes inside the newly minted Steve Jobs Theater breathlessly applauded new “features” paraded on stage by Apple VPs, the rest of us were feeling a wave of déjà vu. OLED screens, wireless charging, 4K … haven’t we seen this stuff before?

Yup. Even by its own standards, Apple dredged up some almost embarrassingly dated technologies for its latest round of refreshes.

BlueBorne threatens almost every connected device with Bluetooth-based attacks

"The BlueBorne attack vector has several qualities which can have a devastating effect when combined. By spreading through the air, BlueBorne targets the weakest spot in the networks’ defense – and the only one that no security measure protects. Spreading from device to device through the air also makes BlueBorne highly infectious. Moreover, since the Bluetooth process has high privileges on all operating systems, exploiting it provides virtually full control over the device."

...

Users can help protect themselves against attacks like Blueborne by patching their devices of all (available) software updates. They should also not leave Bluetooth enabled all the time. Whenever they're not using the protocol, they should disable it.

Apple’s FaceID Could Be a Powerful Tool for Mass Spying

Law enforcement is rapidly increasing use of facial recognition; one in two American adults are already enrolled in a law enforcement facial recognition network, and at least one in four police departments have the capacity to run face recognition searches . But until now, co-opting consumer platforms hasn’t been an option. While Facebook has a powerful facial recognition system, it doesn’t maintain the operating systems that control the cameras on phones, tablets, and laptops that stare at us every day. Apple’s new system changes that. For the first time, a company will have a facial recognition system with millions of profiles, and the hardware to scan and identify faces throughout the world.

Houston Prepares To Be Sprayed By Bee-Killing Chemicals to Fight Mosquitoes

By Derrick Broze

On Thursday night over 600,000 acres of Houston will be sprayed with controversial chemicals with the potential to kill millions of bees and potentially harm the local population.

Houston area health officials are working with the U.S. Air Force to conduct an aerial spraying operation on Thursday night in an attempt to fight a possible influx of disease-carrying mosquitoes following flooding from Hurricane Harvey. However, residents fear the spraying of the chemical known as Dibrom, or Naled, may cause unintended health consequences. 'Your Windows Has Been Banned' malware makes an unwelcome return

"Your Windows Has Been Banned" is a nasty of piece of malware that first surfaced in 2016. It locks your computer screen and displays a message stating "This PC has been banned for terms of use violations."

It doesn’t go into specifics for the ban -- because, obviously, it’s not a real ban -- but simply says that your PC has been locked in order to "protect the Windows service and its members," adding "Microsoft does not provide details about specific PC bans."

In order to unlock the system, the malware originally stated the victim should call technicians purporting to be from Microsoft and buy a code to unlock the screen, and purchase a new Windows license.

Google's depression tool could lead to dangerous over-treatment and addiction to antidepressants, expert warns

Professor warns that the tool will lead to over-diagnosis, over-prescribing and misuse of data.

He says Google worked with antidepressant drug-maker Pfizer to make quiz that gives false positives.

Others say the tool is low-risk, and in line with national efforts to screen for depression.

Google's screening tool that enables people to check online whether they are clinically depressed could do more harm than good, one expert has warned.
Last month, the tech giant released a self-assessment quiz, called the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), which pops up as a result for the search query 'Am I depressed?' on a computer or cell phone.

Google developed its test in partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) but one professor claims that the quiz could just lead to over-treatment of depression amid the US's opioid epidemic.

THE HOUSE TELLS SESSIONS’ JUSTICE DEPARTMENT IT WILL NOT STAND FOR CIVIL ASSET FORFEITURE

The U.S. House sent a strong message of rebuke to Attorney General Jeff Sessions on civil asset forfeiture last night. The House adopted three amendments offered to an appropriations bill that prohibit the Department of Justice from using funds to increase certain federal and local forfeiture practices.

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) summed up the problem with civil asset forfeiture in one sentence. “It is an unconstitutional practice that is used to violate the due process rights of innocent people,” he said from the House floor.

This bipartisan showing was in response to Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ July announcement to expand the use of civil forfeiture. Sessions’ action was a reversal of a 2015 Attorney General Eric Holder policy that prevented local law enforcement from using federal forfeiture laws to circumvent more restrictive state forfeiture laws.

The House votes also signaled that Congress remains committed to comprehensive civil forfeiture reform.

WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR LUNGS, BRAIN, KIDNEYS, HEART, TEETH, & MOOD WHEN YOU DRINK DIET SODA

Diet soda has come under intense scrutiny over the years, and for good reason. It has been found to leave people at risk for weight gain, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, among other serious consequences.

According to Susan E. Swithers, a professor of psychological sciences and a behavioural neuroscientist:

Public health officials are rightfully concerned about the consequences of consuming sugar-sweetened beverages, such as soft drinks, but these warnings may need to be expanded to advocate limiting the intake of all sweeteners, including no-calorie sweeteners and so-called diet soft drinks. Although it seems like common sense that diet sodas would not be problematic, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Findings from a variety of studies show that routine consumption of diet sodas, even one per day, can be connected to higher likelihood of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, metabolic syndrome and high blood pressure, in addition to contributing to weight gain.

The Self-Driving Vehicle Future Will Be The End of Privacy

By Derrick Broze

Will the ongoing transition to self-driving cars come at the cost of passenger privacy?

On September 6 the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill which spurs on further development of autonomous vehicles, but civil liberties advocates fear the further erosion of privacy. The so-called “SELF DRIVE Act” has been hailed as an opportunity to improve traffic safety and reduce vehicle deaths. If the bill passes the Senate and becomes law it would prevent states from passing certain laws to regulate the technology. The Hill reports the bill would also “allow car manufacturers to deploy up to 100,000 self-driving cars a year that don’t meet normal safety standards. In the first year, however, that number will be capped at 25,000.”...

Right "Explodes In Anger" Over Trump's New Immigration Push

Trump's base woke up to a fairly surprising flip-flop this morning from the White House on DACA and the infamous, beautiful border wall which was discussed repeatedly on the campaign trail throughout 2016. It all started when Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after their White House dinner with the President last night:

"We had a very productive meeting at the White House with the President. The discussion focused on DACA. We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that's acceptable to both sides."
That statement was followed up by a tweet storm (we covered it here) from the President this morning which seemingly revealed his complete support for DACA and referred to 'The Wall' as a "renovation of old and existing fences and walls" rather than the "physically imposing" yet "aesthetically pleasing" structure that he repeatedly promised his supporters.

Is Israel Is Getting Ready for a Major War? And No One Is Talking About It

Beginning last Monday, soldiers and reservists alike practiced simulating a 10-day-long war with Hezbollah, an Iranian-sponsored Shi’a militant group located mainly in Lebanon. Israel even prepared two field hospitals, as well as trucks and helicopters for evacuating simulated casualties.

According to the Independent, the drill began with small border skirmishes and escalated into a full-on war with the aim of completely obliterating the Lebanese opponents. Even the soldiers playing the role of Hezbollah were to be dressed in the group’s traditional attire and will don their yellow and green flag.

“The purpose of the drill is to test the fitness of the Northern Command and the relevant battalions during an emergency,” one IDF officer told Haaretz.

The drill, known as the “Light of the Grain” drill, took 18 months to plan. It utilizes fighter planes, ships, submarines, drones, cyber and canine units, and Israel’s missile defense system.

After Being Turned Down by Iraq’s Parliament Yesterday, the Kurdistan Barazani Regime Now Tries to Make Kurdistan Independent by Force

fter Yesterday’s unanimous vote on not allowing Kurdistan’s separation by the Iraqi parliament, forces of the so-called Peshmerga militias (armed forces of the Iraqi Kurdistan’s ruling Barazani regime) suddenly started to spread in the areas of of Kirkuk, Daquq and Tuz Khurmatu.

“These forces did not come for the purpose of the referendum, but to suppress the Arabs and Turkmens, as well as to enforce the will of the Barazani regime through arms, tanks and armored vehicles”, said Mohammad Al Bayati, the Turkmen leader of the armed wing of Badr Organization, an Iraqi political party.

Al Bayati called on the Iraqi government to take responsibility for its citizens or resign.

It is noteworthy that in late August, the Council of the Iraqi province of Kirkuk, voted in favor of inclusion of its territory in the forthcoming referendum on the independence of the northern Iraqi region of Kurdistan, scheduled to take place on September 25th.

 Sanction America, Not North Korea

Ideally, sanctions should be abolished, prohibited for any reasons.

They’re counterproductive, achieving pain and suffering alone for ordinary people in targeted countries, nothing else.

As long as they’re permitted, legally by Security Council members alone, illegal unilaterally, sanction America for its high crimes of war and against humanity, not North Korea, threatening no other countries - even though a US veto would block adoption.

A symbolic 14 - 1 statement would send a powerful message, especially if enough world community nations no longer are willing to put up with endless US wars on humanity.

The leadership of any country threatened by Washington would be foolhardy not to seek powerful weapons and munitions for self-defense.

Abandonment of powerful weapons programs by Iraq and Libya led to their rape and destruction by US-led aggression - a lesson well understood in Pyongyang.

Why Russia Won't Help More on North Korea

Moscow’s assistance to Pyongyang has emerged not out of a desire to promote its nuclear program, but because Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, sees Kim very much like he see his own country: victims of a U.S.-led international system that tramples on their choices and sovereignty. Russia is itself under international sanctions intended to punish Moscow for its military actions in Ukraine. For Russia, sanctions that successfully force North Korea either to alter its military choices or lead to a change in its leadership would set a dangerous precedent—the possibility of regime change anywhere is never to be encouraged.

Pakistan kicks out medical charity MSF from country's tribal region

Pakistan on Wednesday told medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres’ (MSF) to stop work and leave its impoverished tribal areas that border Afghanistan, the health organization said, ending its 14 year stay in the volatile region.

MSF works out of two health facilities in the Kurram district of Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) region, which has been plagued by militancy over the past decade and was the location of many U.S. drone strikes targeting commanders from al Qaeda and other militant groups.

Though security has improved in FATA in recent years, sectarian militant attacks, primarily targeting Shi‘ite Muslims, still occur. Twin blasts in the Kurram’s most populous town, Parachinar killed more than 75 people in June.

Local officials say MSF provides essential healthcare facilities in FATA, an area with some of Pakistan’s poorest healthcare and lowest literacy rates.

United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia Threaten U.S. Interests And Mideast Peace With Attack On Qatar

Oil-rich Saudi Arabia wants to rule the Persian Gulf and the United Arab Emirates wants to rule Riyadh, indirectly, at least. Both states desire to impose their will on neighboring Qatar, whose independent foreign policy irritates entitled elites not used to criticism let alone opposition. But so far the two nations’ efforts have done little more than strengthen Qatar’s independence and expose their own hypocrisy. Exotic animal-hide kippot impounded from J'lem boutique

A new Judaica store in the Old City's Jewish Quarter began selling these items for thousands of shekels, and prepared to import more kippot made from the hides of exotic animals.

The inspector who arrived at the store discovered that the items in question, including both kippot and mezuzahs, were imported to Israel without a permit.

According to the inspector, the importer could have been granted the required permit upon request, but his failure to comply with the regulations led to the confiscation of all the items.

There are numerous animal habitats in the world dedicated to harvesting the animals' hides or other body parts. These habitats are intended to serve as a substitute for hunting the animals in the wild, and only in cases where the local government has approved the animal products are legitimately sourced can they be imported to Israel.

China Backs UN Call for Justice in Yemen; US, Saudis Object to Move

Calls by the UN human rights chief to set up an international inquiry into war crimes committed in the Saudi War in Yemen are nothing new. A sudden endorsement of the move by China may give this effort a new lease on life, however, after being quietly killed in recent years.

This is the third straight year right chief Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein had made such a call, and the last two times, the US and Saudi Arabia buried the idea, agreeing the Saudis could investigate themselves in the war. The civilian deaths have continued to mount.

The latest draft, from Canada and the Netherlands, was seen as likely heading to the same fate, but China’s endorsement, and declaration that they believe the resolution might help push end the war, gives it yet more credibility.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Fingers crossed that Chinese involvement on this issue, at the UN level, will give it more street cred, and at least slow down the slaughter/genocide in which the US and Saudi Arabia have been indulging in Yemen.

I get very frustrated that I am a citizen of a country for which, at the highest level, the commission of war crimes is morally just fine.

Martin Shkreli headed to jail after Hillary Clinton threats

A federal judge Wednesday revoked the former pharmaceutical exec's bail after he offered $5,000 to anyone who could grab a strand of Hillary Clinton's hair.

Judge Kiyo Matsumoto said Shkreli, who was convicted of fraud in August and is awaiting sentencing, has "demonstrated that he has posed a real danger."

In a Facebook post last week, Shkreli promoted a conspiracy about the Clinton Foundation and said he would pay any person who could procure a lock of hair from the former presidential candidate.

Justice Dept Orders Russia’s RT to Register as a ‘Foreign Agent’

The latest in a series of moves which seems destined to worsen US-Russian relations, the Justice Department has ordered Russia’s RT television news network to register itself as a “foreign agent,” forcing it to make broad disclosures on contacts within the United States.

This registration is an idea that had long been pushed by Congressional Democrats who accuse RT of being a “propaganda” network. The Foreign Agent Registration Act was meant to target foreign lobbyists and politicians.

It’s virtually unheard of to force a journalistic outlet to register, and the move was quickly condemned by RT as “overreaching.” That the Justice Department made such a move at all is a surprise, and indicative of continued hostility toward Russia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, let me get my head around this: RT, a very fact-centered, generally logical blog, to which I link frequently, is demanded to register as a foreign agent, YET AIPAC'S SERIAL NON-COMPLIANCE WITH THIS LAW IS "NO BIG DEAL"?!?!?

AIPAC is still our biggest foreign agent

Israeli prime minister backs Kurdish independence in Iraq

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that Israel supports the establishment of an independent Kurdistan ahead of a controversial referendum on Iraqi Kurdish independence which Baghdad rejects.

An independent Kurdistan would give Israel an ally in the region and undermine Iranian influence in Iraq.

"Israel supports the legitimate efforts of the Kurdish people to attain a state of its own," Mr Netanyahu's office said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

But, of course, he cannot possibly back the legitimate efforts of the Palestinian people to attain a state of their own!!

The Pentagon's $2.2 Billion Soviet Arms Pipeline Flooding Syria

he defeat of Islamic State in Syria is reliant on a questionable supply-line, funnelling unprecedented quantities of weapons and ammunition from Eastern Europe to some 30,000 anti-ISIS rebel fighters.

Armed with AK-47s and rocket-propelled grenades fresh from state-owned production lines and stockpiles of the Balkans, Central Europe and increasingly the former Soviet Union, these US-backed troops are spearheading the battle to reclaim Raqqa, the capital of the so-called caliphate, and liberate other areas of Syria held by ISIS.

But the flow of weapons to these Pentagon-backed militia depends on misleading official paperwork, an investigation by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network, BIRN, and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, OCCRP, has uncovered.

The operation has been criticised by arms transfer experts and even worried officials in Berlin, who have seen large quantities of weapons passing through US military bases in Germany on the way to Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The "good reason" is the alleged fight against ISIS in Syria; however, the "real reason" for drowning these jihadists in Soviet-era weapons is, again, still, the American goal of regime change in Damascus.

I am having a Picard double-face-palm, at warp speed, upon reading this!!

It is just a matter of time before US and Russian forces tangle in Syria; and that outcome could get very nasty, and very quickly.

Hungary Takes NY Times to School on Europe’s Migrant Crisis

On September 8, the New York Times Editorial Board published an opinion piece titled “Hungary Is Making Europe’s Migrant Crisis Worse,” which censured Hungary for its “inhospitable attitudes” toward migrants, while also excoriating President Trump for his “scandalous example” on immigration and dissing Britain’s Brexit vote to leave the European Union.

In his written reply to the Times’ editors, government spokesman Zoltán Kovács takes issue with the newspaper’s presumption in trying to teach Europeans how to solve their migrant crisis while continuing “to show just how much they don’t understand.”

France shocked at iPhone X costing exactly French minimum wage

After Apple unveiled its shiny new iPhone X to the world, French media noted with wonder and consternation that the hi-tech gadget cost almost exactly the same as a worker on France’s minimum wage earns for a month’s labour.
"Is the iPhone X worth a SMIC?" asked a headline in Le Parisien newspaper, using the French abbreviation for the monthly minimum wage that is legally fixed at €1,149 after tax.

The cheapest version of the iPhone X, unveiled on Tuesday at Apple’s new "spaceship" headquarters in California, will be sold in France from November 3 priced at €1,159.

The newspaper marvelled at the new product’s technology, but rather snootily noted that buying it for that price was like buying a Porsche for a short commute to work when a low-cost Dacia car would do the job just as well.

Israel's Netanyahu says will meet Trump in New York next week

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday he would meet U.S. President Donald Trump later this month during a visit to New York, where he will address the United Nations General Assembly on Sept. 26.

Netanyahu spoke to reporters accompanying him on a trip to Latin America before his plane left Tel Aviv for Argentina on Sunday night. He will also visit Colombia and Mexico before heading to New York.

In Washington, the White House did not initially respond to a request for a comment on a meeting between the two leaders.

"From Mexico I will go to New York to speak at the United Nations General Assembly and there I will meet my friend, President Donald Trump," Netanyahu said.

He added best wishes "to all our friends in the U.S. to overcome these difficult hours (during Hurricane Irma)."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Netanyahu is desperately trying to "misdirect" the Israeli public, and the world, from the burgeoning cases of corruption against himself, and his wife, which are looming large against them right now.

One has to wonder just what kind of hubristic rhetoric he will spew against both Iran and the Palestinian people, when he has his "bully pulpet" moment at the UN; I think we can be reasonably certain of "more of the same" as we heard last year, and the years before.

But more immediately, I am very concerned about what this "Israeli war whisperer" will be telling President Trump, about Iran being a clear and present danger, and MUST be dealt with IMMEDIATELY....of course, but only at the costs of American blood, and American money.

I would like to politely remind President Trump that both civilian and military leaders in Russia have been uneqivocal in stating that should Iran be attacked, they will go to its aid militarily.

The cost/benefit ration of such a war, for the US, would be horrifically bad, as any sane number-cruncher at the Pentagon will tell you, as starting such a war would absolutely not put the US on the moral, right side of history: I hope President Trump understands this, and is able to refute Netanyahu's hysterics on the issue of the US going to war against Iran with cold, hard, logic.

The Iranians have not started a war in over 200 years.

There hasn't been a year going by for the last 20 years that Israel hasn't popped off and shelled something, most recently a base in Syria.

With an airstrike, Israel "punctuates" its opposition to Syria Cease-fire Pact

Iran has a constitution. Israel does not.

Iran is a signatory to the NNPT, meaning that its nuclear program is inspected by the IAEA.

Israel refuses to become a signatory to the IAEA, or have its nuclear program inspected.

This, BTW, Mr. President, makes Israel ineligible for any US military or financial aid under the Symington Amendment.

You're welcome, Mr. President!!

The House adopted measures on Wednesday to prevent sales of commercial aircraft to Iran, despite warnings from some Democrats that it would undermine the JCPOA.

EXCLUSIVE: DWS IT Guy Was Banned From House After Trying To Hide Secret Server

A secret server is behind law enforcement’s decision to ban a former IT aide to Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz from the House network.

Now-indicted former congressional IT aide Imran Awan allegedly routed data from numerous House Democrats to a secret server. Police grew suspicious and requested a copy of the server early this year, but they were provided with an elaborate falsified image designed to hide the massive violations. The falsified image is what ultimately triggered their ban from the House network Feb. 2, according to a senior House official with direct knowledge of the investigation.

The secret server was connected to the House Democratic Caucus, an organization chaired by then-Rep. Xavier Becerra. Police informed Becerra that the server was the subject of an investigation and requested a copy of it. Authorities considered the false image they received to be interference in a criminal investigation, the senior official said.

At least 50 killed, over 80 injured in gun & bomb attacks in south Iraq (GRAPHIC VIDEO)

At least 50 people have been killed and over 80 more injured in a pair of gun and car bomb attacks in the southern Iraqi city of Nasiriyah, Reuters reports, citing health officials. Iranian media said that among the victims were Iranian pilgrims.
In the first attack, a group of three or four gunmen entered a restaurant off the Dhi Qar highway and began shooting at random, hitting at least fifty people, several media reported.

Shortly afterward two suicide bombers, including one driving a car rigged with explosives, blew themselves and the car up at a security checkpoint nearby, Iraqi officials told AFP.

The survivors are being treated at the al-Batha and Nasiriyah hospitals, but due to the nature of some of the injuries the death toll is expected to rise, the director of the city's Health Directorate, Jasim al-Khalidi, told Reuters.

Jassem al-Khalidi, a senior health official, told the TV channel that more than 87 people had sustained injuries in the attacks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The violence, post George Bush's homicidal war against Iraq, continues apace.

But for some in the Pentagon, and other places in the Bowels of Power in the Unhinged Surveilleds States of Amerika, the continued violence is "justification" for a permanent contingent of American troops, to guarantee that Iraq's government stays western centric; and that all its oil is only paid for with American dollars. As reported at antiwar.com last month:

Yet while Pentagon officials are keen to brag about their accomplishments in the war, mostly centering around having killed massive numbers of people, they are also quick to dismiss the idea that the war is anywhere near over, or that even if it was “won” is some shape or form it would mean US troops coming home.

Rather for many Pentagon officials the ISIS War has been an opportunity to restore the major military presence in Iraq they didn’t want to lose at the end of the last occupation, and officials have been very clear that they view the Iraq deployment as permanent.

James Comey, Matt Lauer, Netflix, Putin, fathers, husbands, male bosses and boyfriends: Meet the Hillary blame list - FORTY-ONE and counting (but there's one absentee)

And given that she has only just started a promotional blitz for What Happened, her memoir of losing, that list could keep growing.

Spain threatens to arrest over 700 Catalan pro-referendum mayors

- Spain's public prosecutor on Wednesday ordered a criminal probe of over 700 Catalan mayors who are cooperating with an October 1 independence referendum deemed illegal by Madrid.

The move increases the pressure on Catalan officials just one day before the pro-separatist camp officially kicks off its referendum campaign in the Mediterranean port of Tarragona.

Furious at the decision to instigate a probe, Catalan municipal associations called on all the region's mayors to protest in Barcelona on Saturday to show their "rejection of a Spanish judicial system that goes after the media, ballot papers, ballot boxes... and now mayors".

New U.N. Report Cites Terrorists, Blames Assad For Chemical Weapons With No Real Evidence

By Brandon Turbeville

The United Nations is marching ahead with its task of acting as the Anglo-Financier administrative arm of the world corporate-financier government structure with its recent “report” aimed at the Syrian government. According to Western corporate media outlets who are reporting the story with unconcealed glee, the United Nations “war crimes investigators” produced a report blaming the Syrian government for chemical weapons attacks at Khan Sheikhoun and nearly two dozen other incidents.

The United Nations team stated that there had been 33 incidents investigated; 27 were the fault of the Syrian government and perpetrators had not yet been identified in the other seven. In other words, all of the alleged chemical weapons incidents were the fault of the Syrian government except for the ones they have yet to determine.

However, there are many problems with the stance of the report, its methodology, and its purpose...

North Korea Threatens To "Sink" Japan With Nuclear Weapons, "Reduce The US To Ashes"

Less than a day after US officials observed North Korea moving mobile missile launchers and engaging in preparations for what appears to be another missile test, a North Korean state committee has stepped up its belligerent rhetoric, threatening to use nuclear weapons to “sink” Japan and reduce the US to “ashes and darkness” after the UN Security Council passed new sanctions against the isolated country earlier this week, Reuters reported. The North also accused the US of “cooking up” the latest restrictive measures against it and demanded that the US be beaten “to death as a stick is fit for a rabid dog.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The rhetoric, we're used to by now; the question is, what will Kim Jung Un actually do, and when will he do it?!?

38north.org had the following article in its blog yesterday:

North Korea’s Punggye-ri Nuclear Test Site: Satellite Imagery Shows Post-Test Effects and New Activity in Alternate Tunnel Portal Areas

China is limited in what it can actually do to calm Kim Jung Un down, but the statement has been made that should the US attack first, China will defend North Korea.

So I have to wonder; what "sacrificial lamb" spot in the US has been chosen by those in the Bowels of Power in the Unhinged, Surveilled States of Amerika to make it appear that North Korea hit the US first, to give cover for a multi-pronged attack against it?!?

WHY ARE US UNIVERSITIES ARMING THEMSELVES WITH GRENADE LAUNCHERS?

A program that supplies university police with surplus military equipment is enjoying a renaissance under Trump and Sessions. Most of the military gear is going to campuses in states with the highest poverty rates, where the weapons will be used not only to repress student protests but also to perpetuate racial and class divides between campuses and their surrounding communities.

Sending an ominous signal to student protest movements nationwide, universities across the US are once again able to equip their police forces with castoff military gear, tying them ever more intimately into the military-industrial complex.

In August, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced at a Fraternal Order of Police convention that Program 1033 would resume providing ex-military equipment to police organizations, including university police departments.

Webmaster's Commentary:

ARE YOU FLIPPING KIDDING ME?!?

It appears to me that this militarisation of college and university policing is to "boil the frog slowly", in terms of getting students to accept that this is precisely what policing on campus - and in the rest of their lives - should be; that even the smallest of incidents needs to be met with brutal, overwhelming force.

And to all students and the parents and friends who love them, and happen to read this blog, "1984" was not an instruction manual!!</em>

STUDIES LINK HEAVY METALS TO DISORDERS AND DECLINING IQS IN CHILDREN

A “silent pandemic of neurodevelopmental toxicity” is disabling a generation of children around the world.

This is the verdict of neurology experts Philippe Grandjean and Philip Landrigan in a 2014 report in Lancet Neurology. The staggering tsunami of developmental disabilities now affects at least one in six children in the U.S. and millions more worldwide. Two new studies suggest that the most common of these illnesses—autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and tics—are related to each other and may share common causation. The culprit? Environmental toxins, particularly heavy metals.

About 11% (or one in nine 4-17-year-olds) have received an ADHD diagnosis—and in some states, as many as 19%. The most recent ASD estimates in the U.S., from 2014 data, report a prevalence of one in 45 children, representing a “significant increase” compared to 2011–2013.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF these numbers are true, it is very worrying for future generations of humans.

But I wonder if the study was created to take some of the heat off the problems with vaccines, which have been documented to cause massive developmental challenges in vaccinated kids, including severe autism.

ADL CAMPUS GUIDE DESCRIBES HOW TO BLOCK EVENTS ABOUT PALESTINE

The ADL (Anti-Defamation League) has just launched a new initiative for college students called “ADL CAMPUS: Tools for Dealing with Anti-Semitic and Anti-Israel Incidents on Campus.”

This resource contains much useful information about addressing anti-Semitism, endorses such valuable principles as freedom of speech and non-violence, and recommends that students talk to others who may hold different perspectives.

It also, however, contains some deeply problematic components for anyone who believes that human rights and justice should apply to all people without exception.

Unfortunately, the ADL does not share this belief. While it announces prominently, “We protect the Jewish people and secure justice and fair treatment to all,” in reality the ADL supports Israeli injustice against Palestinians.

Its recent campus resource exemplifies this, and distorts facts and words in order to do so.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Conflating any logical, reasonable, and documentable criticism of the nation of Israel for how it treats the Palestinian people with anti-semitism is Orwellian to a point that I just cannot describe, and massively combats the foundational principal of free speech, and equal rights for all people.

OIL RICH VENEZUELA STOPS ACCEPTING DOLLARS

Yesterday Venezuela temporarily suspended the sale of U.S. dollars through its Dicom auction system. This (and other moves) was in response to U.S. sanctions put in place by the Trump administration.

Trump claims the sanctions are there to punish the country's autocratic leaders. Maduro claims Washington's move was part of an “economic war”.

This morning The Wall Street Journal reports that the Venezuela is already telling oil traders not to accept the US currency.

Oil traders who export Venezuelan crude or import oil products into the country have begun converting their invoices to euros.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, Maduro is correct about sanctions being a component to an economic war the Unhinged Surveilled States of Amerika against Venezuela, but is only one of the pieces.

And frequently, economic sanctions are a prelude to a shooting war.

One has to wonder if the next phase has American "boots on the ground" invading, to keep those huge oil reserves away from Russia.

New iPhone face unlocking tech sparks fears owners could be forced to open their phones against their will

Experts warned that the new technology has the potential be abused by thieves, forcing iPhone X owners to unlock their phones to steal information and wipe them to sell, or even an abusive partner wanting to look through their spouses' messages.

It could also potentially allow police to unlock phones of suspects to find incriminating evidence, without having to get a court to try and force them to hand over their passcode.
