THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"If there are those who think we are to jump immediately into a new world order, actuated by complete understanding and brotherly love, they are doomed to disappointment. If we are ever to approach that time, it will be after patient and persistent effort of long duration. The present international situation of mistrust and fear can only be corrected by a formula of equal status, continuously applied, to every phase of international contacts, until the cobwebs of the old order are brushed out of the minds of the people of all lands." -- Dr. Augustus O. Thomas, president of the World Federation of Education Associations, quoted in the book International Understanding: Agencies Educating for a New World

While the exact details of the hack are confidential, Boeing insists that the hackers were not able to take control of the aircraft's flight systems.

As the sun moves through its 11-year cycle, it experiences active and quiet periods known as the solar maximum and solar minimum.

The discovery is surprising, the researchers say, and could help to provide a clearer understanding of the processes that give rise to sunspots and other solar activity.

Thousands of people on universal credit will not receive a payment at Christmas

Thousands of low-paid people on universal credit will receive reduced payments or none at all over Christmas, in a fresh controversy about the new benefit.

The claimants will be hit because they are paid weekly and their income “will likely go over the universal credit limit”, officials say.

They will be able to reapply in January – but, it is feared, will be left without a payment from the Government over the Christmas and New Year period.

The same problem will re-occur in other months which, like December, have five paydays, because universal credit is calculated on a monthly basis.

Senators propose 'USA Liberty Act' to reauthorize NSA surveillance

The question of how to reign in monitoring enabled by Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) has been in the spotlight ever since the Edward Snowden PRISM revelations. What exactly to do about it has gone back and forth, but the latest attempt to "reform" surveillance is here in the form of the USA Liberty Act, a bipartisan proposal introduced by Senators Mike Lee and Patrick Leahy (PDF). The Washington Post figures it has little chance of passage, however, it does contain language that would make government agencies get a warrant before searching information collected by the NSA under Section 702.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I love the irony and hipocrsy of the title of this legislation; and the serious question which must be asked is, does this legislation actually make us more safe, or simply provide a conduit for surveilling evey bit ofminutiae in our lives?!?

I would politely suggest that it accomplishes the latter, but not the former, and for good reason.

The fastest way to get any kind of terrorism away from the US, or US interests, would be to stop mucking about in other peoples' countries; expropriating resources to which the US government, and the corporations which own, it have utterly no moral right; and insisting that those resources ony be purchased with US petrodollars.

You're welcome, FBI, CIA, DHS, and NSA! :-)

Trump to be presented with $47M deal to arm Ukraine against Russia

President Donald Trump will be presented with the recommendation to finance and sell anti-tank missiles to the Ukrainian government — a move aimed at deterring aggression from pro-Russian separatists, a State Department official told ABC News.

The National Security Council decided during a meeting on Tuesday to greenlight the presentation of a $47 million grant package to the Ukrainian government to purchase American defense arms, including the powerful Javelin anti-tank missiles.

The president and Congress must approve the sale of anti-tank missiles. The Javelin, a portable missile with a steep price-tag, has been described as "The American Military's Anti-Tank Killer."

Webmaster's Commentary:

NO, ABC, this was not a "popular uprising"; can you manage, for one millisecond, not to be regurgitating the official government line, and tell the truth here?!?

This was a US sponsored putsch, which threw Yanukovych under the proverbial bus, and "annointed" the Western-centric darling of the moment, Poroshenko, as president, in an election more crooked than a dog's hind leg.

President Obama himself admitted this in an interview in 2015:

According to the South China Morning Post, Xi vowed to strengthen cooperation between the two states at a time when the Middle Eastern kingdom is facing a political shake-up at home, and heightened tensions with Lebanon and Iran. Xi’s vow of friendship came with the crucial qualifier that the relationship between the two countries wouldn’t be affected by shifting international circumstances.

Hillary Clinton, Who Colluded With The Russians, Questions The Legitimacy Of The 2016 Elections Because….Russia

Failed former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is now directly questioning the legitimacy of the 2016 elections, citing the discredited deep state narrative that Donald Trump worked with the Russians as one of her reasons despite the fact that her own campaign colluded with “Russian sources” to spread disinformation about President Trump through what would eventually become known as the “Trump dossier.”

Clinton made the comments in a wide ranging interview with the always friendly Mother Jones Senior Reporter Ari Berman where she stated that there are many questions about the actual legitimacy of the last presidential election in which she lost.

During the interview Berman asked Clinton, “So between the Republican voter suppression you talked about and Russian interference, do you think it was a legitimate election?”

NEW COLD WAR? NORTH KOREA STRENGTHENS TIES WITH CUBA

Pyongyang hopes to rekindle a Cold War-era friendship.

Korean Central News Agency announced Friday that North Korea’s Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho and his delegation will be traveling to Cuba, in hopes of revamping international support amid sanctions and widespread condemnation of Pyongyang’s nuclear missile tests.

The Washington Post reported that North Korea’s visit to Cuba occurs as Pyongyang’s largest trading partners announced they would halt trade with the isolated nation. Singapore—North Korea’s seventh largest trading partner–indicated it would sever its trade with the country Thursday, while the Philippines—Pyongyang’s fifth largest trading partner—is following suit.

TURKISH PRESIDENT ERDOGAN ACCUSES US OF SUPPORTING ISIS

Turkey’s president said, “The administration in the United States has changed but everything remains the same as before.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the United States of granting financial aid to members of the Islamic State group, a State Department-listed terrorist organization.

“The United States has disappointed us a lot, saying that it fights Daesh (the Islamic State group) but in reality, it gave them a lot of support,” said the head of state at a meeting of the Justice and Development Party, AKP, the ruling party of Turkey.

Russia has made the similar remarks on several occasions.

The Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zajarova, said that some testimonies indict the U.S. military and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO, for supporting the Islamic State group in Afghanistan.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Erdogan and the Russian Spokesperson, Zajarova, are both correct in their observations.

We had a caller into the show yesterday, a gentleman named Roy, who is a wounded Iraq War Veteran, who joined the US military at 18 right after 9/11. He expressed both his disbelief and displeasure at the reality that the US military was providing money, equipment, and training to our alleged "enemies" in the Middle East, just for the purpose of destabilizing countries even further, thus insuring that Middle Eastern oil was only sold in US dollars, and was only going through, and sold to US-approved vendors.

Both ISIS and the Kurds have been proxy groups, used by a succession of US administrations to terrorize various elements in Afghanistan and the Middle East, and prevent, wherever possible, a peaceful resolution to geopolitical problems.

SHOCKING CDC TESTS REVEAL 3,800 US WATER SUPPLIES UP TO 400% MORE CONTAMINATED THAN FLIN

For years there has been an ongoing debate about the levels of lead that have been found in the drinking water in Flint, Michigan, but recent studies have shown that water conditions are just as bad in many other areas throughout the country.

In fact, Reuters recently published neighborhood-level blood lead testing results from 34 states, as well as Washington DC, which were collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The results showed that 3,810 neighborhood areas have levels of lead that are at least double those seen in Flint. Close to half of these sites had levels that were actually four times as high as those in Flint.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The fact that this issue of contaminated water has not been vigorously addressed, does not surprise me; there has been a gradual lack of focus on American infrastructure in favor of more bombs and bullets with which the US government ferociously attempts to mandate its will on the rest of the world, while the health and well-being of American citizens... has become irrelevant.

USAID AND WALL STREET: CONFLICTS, COUPS, AND CONQUEST

In 1928 when the US-based United Fruit Company – now known as Chiquita Brands International – faced labor issues in Colombia, it had at its disposal Colombian troops which gunned down hundreds of strikers to maintain production and profits.

Ensuring that Colombia protected “American interests” was the US State Department who hosted company representatives at the US embassy in Bogotá, which in turn was in contact with Washington.

The United Fruit Company’s actions in Colombia was far from an isolated incident. US Marine Corps General Smedley Butler would write a book regarding his personal, first-hand experience in fighting wars on multiple continents for oil companies, bankers, and fruit companies.

Nearly a century ago large corporate interests already possessed full control over the mechanisms of American governance, determining its domestic and foreign policy, and readily using the nation’s military might for their own personal gain across the globe.

Is a military coup against Trump in the cards?

In an extraordinary US Senate hearing this week, lawmakers and military officials rounded on President Trump as being a danger to world peace due to his Commander-in-Chief powers for launching nuclear weapons.

The highlight came when the hearing was told military officers have the constitutional right to disobey the president.

This was, in effect, an open call to mutiny against the president’s authority. The Senate hearing surely counts as an outstanding moment in a year of topsy-turvy politics since Donald Trump was elected 45th President of the United States on November 8 last year. Yet that moment of potential sedition seemed to pass off as a rather humdrum event.

Hillary Blasts Trump, Moore for Not Accepting Responsibility on Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Friday on WABC radio’s “The Rita Cosby Show,” former first lady Hillary Clinton said Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) had taken “responsibility” for his sexual misconduct, while Alabama GOP U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore and President Donald Trump have not.

Clinton said, “Look, we have a man who is accused of sexual assault sitting in the Oval Office, don’t we? And the very credible accusations against him have not been taken seriously. Global medical watchdog complicit with Israeli abuses

It is now more than 20 years since Amnesty International first concluded that Israeli doctors working with Israel’s security services “form part of a system in which detainees are tortured, ill-treated and humiliated in ways that place prison medical practice in conflict with medical ethics.”

Since then there have been repeated attempts – of which this author has been part – to have the global medical ethics watchdog World Medical Association (WMA) hold the Israeli Medical Association (IMA) accountable for these practices.

But with the latest attempt foundering last year and despite changes in leadership over the years, the conclusion that now has to be drawn is that, when it comes to Israel, the WMA is not fit for the purpose for which it was created after World War II.

Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Breitbart editor at Large Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute and author of “Clinton Cash,” reacted to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s dismissal of the Uranium One deal that happened under her tenure as secretary of state.

In an interview with Mother Jones magazine, Clinton claimed wrongdoing involving the deal had been “debunked countless times” and described it as “false charge.” She also went on to say that further investigation into the matter by the Trump administration would be “an abuse of power.”

Schweizer laid out the timeline and reiterated how Clinton and her husband former President Bill Clinton had ties to Canadian investor Frank Giustra and went on to say a new whistle-blower would be coming forward with the details on the possible wrongdoing.

Ambassador says commission for chemical attacks in Syria covered itself with shame

Joint mechanism of the UN and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons [OPCW] has covered itself with shame by putting forward groundless charges against Damascus and Russia will agree to a prolongation of its mandate only if fundamental flaws in the commission’s work are eradicated, the Russian Ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya said on Friday.

He said the Russian draft resolution, which did not rally the required number of votes at the Security Council on Thursday, aimed exactly to eradicate these flaws.

Nebenzya said the draft remained on the table even though the council members had dismissed it.

US ready to ‘fight for justice’ in Syria without UN approval – Haley

The US does not consider itself constrained by the United Nations Security Council and might seek “justice” in Syria on its own terms, the US representative to the UN, Nikki Haley, has said. The US took similar action in Libya in 2011.

“With the unity of this council, or alone, unrestrained by Russia’s obstructionism, we will continue to fight for justice and accountability in Syria,” Haley said, blasting Russia’s vetoing of the draft resolution on the extension of the Syrian chemical weapons probe on Friday.

UK politician Nigel Farage, the prominent face of Brexit, is now concerned about Europe’s destiny. Addressing the EU Parliament this week, Farage provided some thoughtful ideas as to the source of the claims that Russia had somehow manipulated the Brexit vote, as well as the Trump election.

“Just last week, the electoral commission, in the UK, launched an investigation to find out whether the ‘Leave’ campaign took offshore money or Russian money,” Farage said.

Hours later, upstairs in a hotel guest room, an 18-year-old college student who had come to the event with his parents said the candidate unzipped his pants and fondled him in the middle of the night. Finally! - The BBC Outs U.S./ISIS Complicity in Syria

I know this will come as a shock to my regular readers, but the U.S. has been working with ISIS the entire time. Previously the Russian Ministry of Defense released unequivocal evidence of our allowing ISIS to move through areas controlled by U.S/Kurdish SDF forces to avoid Syrian Arab Army confrontation.

Now, no less a news source than the BBC, itself a major member of the U.S. Department of Disinformation, is now openly reporting this and outing Secretary of Defense James Mattis’ lies about why we are still in Syria. Of course, the BBC is whitewashing all of this and portrays it as some triumph of humanitarianism.

Faint traces were also detected in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland.
There has been no impact on human health or the environment in Europe, a French official stressed, but he added that detection of such a cloud was "absolutely not normal".

The hermit official stated that North Korea could consider abandoning its nuclear programme, but that “threats from America” prevent considerations from taking place.
