THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it." -- Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States, The New Freedom, 1913

The New Year celebrations tainted by terror: Munich evacuates train stations over 'imminent' threat as European capitals scrap firework displays and police guard cities from Sydney to New York

Terror threats loomed alongside fireworks over European capitals as they welcomed in the New Year, with an unprecedented police presence guarding cities from Sydney to New York.

Panic spread across the German city of Munich on New Year's Eve after police warned of an 'imminent threat' of a terror attack, as crowds of people flocked to the city centre to welcome in the New Year.

Two railway stations - the city's main station and the Pasing station - were evacuated after indications of a planned attack which would target party-goers in the city.

Across Europe, capital cities were on high security alert, with Brussels and Paris both scrapping fireworks for New Year's celebrations.

New Year Address to the Nation

In a few moments, we will see in the New Year of 2016. The sensation of this wonderful moment between the past and the future is familiar since childhood. We look forward to it with joy, hope and excitement, believing in the best. Traditionally, we celebrate it with our families, with all our near and dear ones. Of course, not all manage to see the New Year in with their families... We are grateful to all those who are always on their post, day and night, weekdays and holidays. Today, I would like to extend special greetings to those of our service members who are fighting international terrorism, defending Russia’s national interests at distant frontiers, showing their willpower, determination and staunchness. Though, these are the qualities we need all the time, whatever we are doing.

6,000 Cops, Checkpoints, Snipers, K-9s – Celebrating the New Year in a Police State

Like an Orwellian wet dream come to life, the NYPD has announced that more than 6,000 cops will be herding Times Square attendees into spectator pens this New Year’s Eve while violating their Fourth Amendment right prohibiting unreasonable searches and seizures. Instead of deterring further acts of violence, the excessive show of force merely reinforces the notion that the terrorists have already won by utilizing fear to turn the state against its own people...

2015 Winner Of The Award For Reverse Excellence

By Brandon Turbeville

Toward the end of every year, it has become a Western tradition to initiate the proceedings of a “round up” or “best of” of the people, events, and products of the year and attempt to crown a number of individuals with awards for the most accomplished, best dressed, most influential, or most creative of that year. The world of politics and government is no different.

However, while politicians and government officials are awash with awards and backslapping trophies, there still exists no official award provided to them at the end of the year for their life’s accomplishments and those made over the past 12 months. It is clearly time to change this...

A HUGE NEW TAINTED MMR VACCINE SCAM HAS SUDDENLY CAUSED THOUSANDS OF BABIES IN LATIN AMERICA TO BE BORN WITH FAR UNDERSIZED BRAINS

The new "Autism", titled "Microcephaly" has destroyed more than 2,400 Brazilian newborn babies en utero in only the past 2 months with ZERO DESTROYED IN THE MONTHS PRIOR and is stated to be caused when a pregnant mother is bitten by the mosquito carried African zika virus, which recently "made it's debut" in Brazil in 2015. But the pattern of symptoms does not match the virus which has been proven to have infected humans since 1954 and has never previously been associated with shrunken brains in newborn babies, nor does the geographic propagation pattern match the natural propagation pattern of a mosquito carried virus that would cause undersized brains in newborn babies if it really did exist.

This "shrunken brain" issue in newborns was just suddenly in Brazil as if someone flipped a switch, and the only way that could really happen is via the sudden arrival of a new brain destroying MMR vaccine, which all pregnant Latin American women are strongly encouraged to get before week 22 of pregnancy. This perfectly matches the probable arrival of the real culprit - a tainted MMR vaccine, which if administered in May (when this virus supposedly arrived) would be causing precisely the shrunken newborn baby brain problems Brazilians are having now, right on schedule.

The Collapse of WTC 1: Madrid Exposes a Fundamental Flaw

The above indicates that at least 50% of WTC 1's core was intact after Flight 11 hit the building, and the fact that the building remained standing proves the intact core columns could support the weight of floors above the impact level without problems.

This leaves a quandary because we are told that the 800ºC temperatures which the Windsor Building's core columns withstood for 18 hours wrecked the intact core columns of WTC 1 in only 85 minutes.

Okay, let's assume that some of WTC 1's remaining core columns of were damaged by the plane impact, maybe this could account for the quick collapse of the building. Well, this might be plausible if an 800ºC fire burned at the airliner impact level, but these temperatures did not exist inside WTC 1.

Turkey’s Week-Long Offensive Kills 200 Rebels, 150 Civilians

Turkey has been engaged in a war against the PKK for months now, but really picked up the pace in the past week, imposing full-scale curfews on Kurdish towns in the southeast, and engaging in increasingly indiscriminate shelling and sniper fire against those population centers.

The past week, according to rights groups, has seen about 200 rebels killed, along with 150 slain civilians. This sort of huge civilian toll is only adding to opposition Kurdish groups who were previously peaceful but are increasingly endorsing the rebellion as just resistance.

The Erdogan government has ruled out allowing the Kurds or anyone else carving an independent state out of Turkish soil, but as the fighting grows so too do the calls for self-rule in Kurdistan, and less and less faith in Turkey ever treating the Kurdish minority equitably.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In its serial genocide against its Kurdish minority, the Turkish government has created the situation where many Kurds believe that there is no room for negotiation with the Turkish government, and - unfortunately - the Turkish government has certainly demonstrated that this is the case here.

Without the outright establishment of an independent Kurdistan, the Turkish government has no other reasonable way of dealing with their Kurdish minority than negotiation, but the Turkish government just doesn't want to acknowledge that, which is simply going to lead to more bloodshed and violence.

Russia demands arrest of Su-24 pilot’s murderer who gave interview to Turkish media

The Russian Foreign Ministry has demanded that Turkey brings to trial Alparslan Celik who confessed in an interview with Turkish media that he had participated in the murder of the Russian pilot of Su-24 downed by Turkish air forces in November.
“We demand that the Turkish authorities take immediate action to catch Alparslan Celik and his accomplices and charge them with criminal offence for killing a Russian pilot and taking part in hostilities as members of an illegal armed group in a foreign country,” Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Zakharova also expressed surprise and indignation that Hurriyet, a major Turkish newspaper, had given floor to the “murderer and terrorist” so that he could brag about his crime and disseminate nationalist ideology, “filled with hatred towards Russia and the Russian people.”

HEROIN DEALER IN CHIEF

A heroin surge is shocking and awing Americans, 165,000 of who will be killed the next ten years. How does 415,000 kilograms (913,000 pounds) of heroin from US-occupied Afghanistan get to US each year?

Tons of heroin from US-occupied Afghanistan get into US each week. Government planes have flown un-searched every week from US-occupied Afghanistan to US (2001-present). Commander In Chief Obama can bring about effective monitoring and searching of government people, planes and ships. Stat. As if 165,000 American lives depend on that, because 165,000 American lives do depend on that. If Obama refuses to effectively monitor and search government people, planes and ships, then no doubt he's Heroin Dealer In Chief.

Obama has the blood of 35,470 Americans (heroin deaths 2009-2014) on his hands for either his willful actions "green lighting" heroin transport from US-occupied Afghanistan to US or his negligence in allowing these fatal felonies.

U.S. GOVERNMENT REPEALS COUNTRY-OF-ORIGIN LABELS FOR BEEF AND PORK; ORDERS EPA TO NOT MONITOR POLLUTION CAUSED BY MEAT INDUSTRY

Some very meaty decisions out of Washington appear to be unhealthy for consumers and the environment.

First, Congress and President Barack Obama teamed up to repeal mandatory country-of-origin labeling for pork and beef products. The labeling requirements were eliminated through an attachment to the omnibus budget bill passed by Congress and signed by Obama earlier this month.

The move was prompted by threats from the World Trade Organization (WTO), which threatened to allow Mexico and Canada to hit the U.S. with more than $1 billion in tariffs if it continued to require beef and pork labeling for foreign producers. The WTO said the labels discriminate against meat from animals raised and slaughtered outside the United States.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The meat industry is a major contributor to political candidates; that is why they get what they want, in terms of legislation, while (alleged) representatives don't give a rat's rear about the needs and concerns of Americans.

US claims over civilian deaths in Syria ‘absurd,’ Russia says

The Russian Defense Ministry has denounced as “absurd” allegations by the United States that Moscow’s airstrikes in Syria are causing civilian casualties.

The reaction came a day after the US Department of State claimed that the Russian campaign had left hundreds of "civilians" dead and struck "medical facilities, schools and markets."

"All of these anonymous and unsubstantiated statements about the alleged use of Russian aircraft on civilian targets in Syria are increasingly reminiscent of hypnotists' acts in travelling circuses," the ministry said in a Wednesday statement, slamming the claims as "absurd."

Russia launched the campaign against the Takfiri Daesh terrorists and other militant groups in Syria on September 30 upon a request from the Damascus government.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has also alleged that Russia’s airstrikes have killed over 2,370 people since September 30, including 792 civilians.

RUBIO OUTRAGED BY SPYING ON ISRAEL’S GOVERNMENT, OK WITH MASS SURVEILLANCE OF AMERICANS

On Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal revealed that the Obama administration had spied on the Israeli government and, in the process, roped in communications the Netanyahu administration had with members of the U.S. Congress.

This news sparked a denunciation by Florida Senator and Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio. “Obviously people read this report, they have a right to be concerned this morning about it,” said Rubio on Fox News Wednesday morning. “They have a right to be concerned about the fact that while some leaders around the world are no longer being targeted, one of our strongest allies in the Middle East – Israel – is. I actually think it might be worse than what some people might think, but this is an issue that we’ll keep a close eye on, and the role that I have in the intelligence committee.”

WHITE HOUSE PETITION - LIST ERDOGAN’S TURKEY AS STATE SPONSOR OF TERRORISM; VOID U.S. ALLIANCE WITH TURKEY

Following Turkey’s downing of a Russian jet striking the Islamic State (IS), it is undeniable that Pres. Recep Tayyip Erdogan supports jihad terrorism in Syria. IS exports oil via Turkey and terrorists of IS, al-Qaeda, and other jihad groups transit the border.

This builds upon a pattern of Ankara’s support for terrorists in other countries: Russia (Chechnya), China (Xinjiang), Israel/Gaza (Hamas), Yugoslavia (Bosnia), Serbia (Kosovo), Georgia (Pankisi), Egypt (Muslim Brotherhood); aggression against neighbors (invasion and occupation of Cyprus, violation of Greece’s airspace, blockade of Armenia); and denial of genocides against Christian Armenians, Greeks, and Assyrians.

Recep Erdo?an: First as Tragedy; second, Farce; third as…Monty Python

From 1853 into 1856 the Ottoman Turkish Sultan, egged on by Britain and the France of Napoleon III, went into one of the most absurd conflicts in modern history, the Crimean War. Perhaps the most lasting outcome of the ridiculous war fought on Crimea was the oft-cited line from Lord Tennyson’s Charge of the Light Brigade: “Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do & die…Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred.”

It aptly describes the escalating conflict being incited by Turkey’s would-be new Sultan, Recep Erdo?an, provoking Russia again and again. Only, in a paraphrase of the famous line by Karl Marx describing France of the time of Napoleon III, “History repeats itself; first as tragedy, second as farce.” This third time, it is Erdo?an, not as Napoleon III, but as Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

The Australians know how to throw a party! Claire and I were in Sydney for New Year's 1999, and were lucky enough to get on a tall ship in the middle of the harbor. The fireworks are not just on the bridge but are launched from all the tall buildings all around the harbor.

American hawk spurs Ukraine to war with Russia

The sermons, insolent, cynical, and provocative, of US Vice President Joseph Biden are humiliating and insulting to me as a Ukrainian politician, scientist, and citizen of Ukraine. As is the behavior of President Poroshenko, Prime Minister Yatsenyuk and deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, playing the role of lapdogs and lackeys.

A hawk flew in to Ukraine, a warmonger, colonizer, and russophobe -- Biden. The representative of the Evil Empire, the representative of the

country that dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945;
the country that burned civilians with napalm in Vietnam in 1968;
the country that -- in violation of UN Security Council resolutions -- bombed and dismembered Yugoslavia in 1999,
the country that turned the territory of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria into disaster areas, and dire humanitarian catastrophes in the 2000s.

No, ISIS Isn’t Worth Sacrificing the First Amendment Over

The War on Terror has been atrocious for civil liberties in America. Yet, as
(my former boss) Matt Welch noted in the LA Times on Wednesday, for all of our declining freedom post-9/11, compared to France’s response to their recent terrorist tragedy “our document is far less pliable and far more subject to robust judicial defense.” That is to say, it could be – and could have been – worse.

Israel Campaigns Against Global Free Speech

Alarmed at the rise of anti-Semitism and anti-Israeli sentiments on the internet, Israeli politicians recently called for nations around the world to enact legislation prohibiting criticism of Jews and Israel. Lobbying to outlaw global free speech is nothing new for Israel, however; it has been in the business of criminalizing speech for decades.

US Said to Be Preparing New Sanctions Against Iran

In July, negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 nations, including France, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and Germany, led to a historic deal. Under the terms of the deal, after providing assurances that it was not enriching uranium to pursue a nuclear weapon, international sanctions against Iran would be gradually lifted.

Iran Makes ‘Significant Progress’ in Completing Nuclear Deal Commitments
But on Wednesday, US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the US Treasury Department is prepared to roll out new sanctions against companies and individuals not only in Iran, but also in Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates, according to the Wall Street Journal.

RICH MEN IN LONDON STILL DECIDING AFRICA’S FUTURE

Last year, Director of the Global Justice Now Nick Dearden said:

“It’s scandalous that UK aid money is being used to carve up Africa in the interests of big business. This is the exact opposite of what is needed, which is support to small-scale farmers and fairer distribution of land and resources to give African countries more control over their food systems. Africa can produce enough food to feed its people. The problem is that our food system is geared to the luxury tastes of the richest, not the needs of ordinary people. Here the British government is using aid money to make the problem even worse.”

Is Israel losing its mind?

Are we witnessing the disintegration of Israel? Or, if you would like to put it another way, is Israel losing its mind?

There is no doubt these are unsettling, irritating questions which ignite a burning desire to look up reasons to be optimistic, a reason to say:come on, you're blowing it out of proportion.

15 News Stories from 2015 You Should Have Heard About But Probably Didn’t

By Carey Wedler

In 2015, the iron fist of power clamped down on humanity, from warfare to terrorism (I repeat myself) to surveillance, police brutality, and corporate hegemony. The environment was repeatedly decimated, the health of citizens was constantly put at risk, and the justice system and media alike were perverted to serve the interests of the powers that be.

However, while 2015 was discouraging for more reasons than most of us can count, many of the year’s most underreported stories evidence not only a widespread pattern that explicitly reveals the nature of power, but pushback from human beings worldwide on a path toward a better world...

Accounting for the Rise in College Tuition

We develop a quantitative model of higher education to test explanations for the
steep rise in college tuition between 1987 and 2010. The framework extends the qualitymaximizing
college paradigm of Epple, Romano, Sarpca, and Sieg (2013) and embeds
it in an incomplete markets, life-cycle environment. We measure how much changes in
underlying costs, reforms to the Federal Student Loan Program (FSLP), and changes
in the college earnings premium have caused tuition to increase. All these changes
combined generate a 106% rise in net tuition between 1987 and 2010, which more than
accounts for the 78% increase seen in the data. Changes in the FSLP alone generate
a 102% tuition increase, and changes in the college premium generate a 24% increase.
Our findings cast doubt on Baumol’s cost disease as a driver of higher tuition.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There was a recent study, which I will link here, that really nailed why tuition is skyrocketing, and, of course, the answer is the non-dischargeable student debt signed into being by the Clinton Administration. This was, as usual, a huge gift to the banks by the Clinton Administration, and explains why the banks supported Hillary both for Senate and for the Presidency.

The American people’s dissatisfaction with the US Congress is neither surprising nor limited to the bicameral legislature, says a former member of the House of Representatives.

FLASHBACK - Buy-Bull Bangers: Regular, or Extra-Crispy?

So to all those who went along with these wars because you believed it when Bush and Obama, et. al. said this was God's will, you are all damned. Damned, damned, damned! Damned to hell. And there can be no redemption while the warmongers are still in power. There is no absolution if you know torture of innocent people is going on and you do nothing at all to stop it. The priests cannot forgive your sins if they share those sins, no matter how expensive those beads are. Having worked so hard to trick you into sin, would they really be eager to get you out? Just whose side are they on? Which God is it they really serve?

You have a simple choice, really. You're looking at the choice between regular and extra-crispy for all eternity so long as the everyone who lied to start the war and torture in any way remain in power.

Bad Government Decisions That Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time

In the U.S. Constitution, the nation’s founders originally conceived of a very
limited federal government that protected, rather than usurped, the liberty

their territory, and way of life from foreign threats. The massive federal government today regularly infringes on people’s rights in everything from privacy to the taking of private property through confiscation and excessive taxation.

New York Daily News’ Bill Cosby Cover Perfectly Illustrates America’s Rape Problem

The New York Daily News is quite well known for its genius — and refreshingly honest — covers, and they’ve done it again, this time with regards to the arrest of comedian Bill Cosby. The icon-turned-pariah has finally been charged with sexual assault after decades of hiding behind his fame, money, lawyers, influence, and, most importantly, the statutes of limitations in several states. It took nearly 60 women to come forward, but finally, just days before the statute ran out in Pennsylvania, he was charged. And, as happy as anyone who cares about justice is about that, it is actually the problem. That is where the NY Daily News cover comes in. The paper ran the Cosby story with this image:
