THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires - desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, hewill scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way." -- Bertrand Russell, philosopher - "Roads to Freedom"

Trump began the night with 756 delegates, according to The Associated Press. He appears poised to take 89 of the 95 delegates that were up for grabs in New York. That would bring Trump’s total to 856 delegates, putting him 68 percent of the way to the 1,237 needed to clinch the nomination before the Republican National Convention in July.

Dutch MPs refuse to give up on ratification of EU-Ukraine deal despite no vote at referendum

The Dutch parliament has rejected a motion calling on the government to immediately withdraw a law ratifying the EU-Ukraine association agreement – a deal which was rejected by 61 percent of Dutch voters in a non-binding referendum earlier this month.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s ruling party narrowly defeated a motion brought by the opposition Socialist Party, which called for overturning a law approving the controversial association agreement between the EU and Ukraine.

Seventy-five lawmakers voted against the Socialists’ initiative, with 71 in favor. To secure the tiny majority, the government gained the support of independent MPs Roland van Vliet and Johan Stonemasons, De Telegraaf newspaper reported.

Anti-Trump Forces Routed in New York

It was nothing short of a crushing defeat for anti-Trump forces. Victory in the New York primary, Club for Growth president David McIntosh told National Review earlier this month, would be achieved by “getting Trump under 50 percent,” the threshold at which a candidate secures all 14 of the statewide delegates. Every delegate counts at this point, since Trump’s victory on the first ballot of the convention hangs in the balance. Keeping the real-estate mogul under 50 percent could have deprived him of perhaps 20 delegates, depending on how well he did in each of the congressional districts.

But there would be no stopping Trump on this night. He won more than 60 percent of the vote, taking all but a few of New York’s 95 delegates.

Dutch Referendum Proves Eurosceptics Wrong

***
We are talking about a minority in the Dutch national scope and an even more negligible number of people in a common European scope, considering the population of EU is a little over 500 million people. Is this a victory of Euroscepticism, or what! Actually, the result was announced as being exactly that all over the Union. What is being overlooked, however, is that this result actually disproves the eurosceptics’ claims that Brussels enforces its policy over member states, that too much national sovereignty has been seized, and that the nation state has been placed on its knees. It is exactly the opposite – member states are fully capable of turning the entire union inside-out and they do not need to do it with the full support of their population at that. Thirty-odd percent are sufficient, and that is not out of the entire population, but out of the ones who found voting worthwhile.

The Battle of Athens

On 2 August 1946, some Americans, brutalized by their county government, used armed force to overturn it. These Americans wanted honest, open elections. For years they had asked for state or Federal election monitors to prevent vote fraud -- forged ballots, secret ballot counts, and intimidation by armed sheriff's deputies -- by the local political boss. They got no help.

These Americans' absolute refusal to knuckle-under had been hardened by service in World War II. Having fought to free other countries from murderous regimes, they rejected vicious abuse by their county government. These Americans had a choice. Their state's Constitution - Article 1, Section 26 - recorded their right to keep and bear arms for the common defense. Few "gun control" laws had been enacted.

Shouldn't the Republican Party Have All Potential Presidential Nominees Demonstrate Presidential Eligibility?

Although generally ignored by the mainstream media (including Fox News), whether Senator Ted Cruz is eligible to be President of the United States depends upon both law and facts and remains an unresolved issue.

Cruz's inability and/or unwillingness to conclusively demonstrate that he is eligible, coupled with rival Donald Trump's references to him as Lyin' Ted, have increased suspicion instead of dispelled it.

I have concluded as a matter of law that since Cruz indisputably was a natural born Canadian, (1) he is not a natural born United States citizen and (2) the United States citizenship of his mother made him eligible to become a naturalized United States citizen.

Since 1934, the United States citizenship of either parent has enabled a child to become a naturalized United States citizen, but it is not sufficient to make that child a natural born United States citizen and therefore eligible to be President of the United States.

Get Ready for a “Viral Pandemic of Global Unrest”… They Warn It’s Coming

Top insurer Lloyds warns that a “pandemic” of global civil unrest could go viral, threatening international stability.

Lloyds commissioned leading global risk management consultancy the Risk Advisory Group to produce a report analyzing what factors could prompt the spread of civil unrest around the world.

The report found that, “Instances of political violence contagion are becoming more frequent and the contagion effect ever more rapid and powerful,” with head of exposure management and reinsurance, Trevor Maynard, warning that global outbreaks of violence are increasingly likely to develop into “pandemics” of civil unrest.

This transformation will lead to “widespread disruption yet prove extremely difficult to anticipate,” and threaten “international stability,” according to the report.

Ted Cruz’s Yiddish ad tells New York Jews he is God’s chosen candidate

Both Republican and Democratic candidates have been courting Jewish voters ahead of Tuesday"s New York primary vote, looking for an edge in competitive districts with large Jewish populations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This creeps me out to the point where the hair on the back of my neck is break-dancing.

To all those "Cruzistas" out there, please be aware of one very important fact about Cruz's presidential candidacy, other than the fact that he cannot legally run for President because he is not a "natural born" citizen; he is a dyed in the wool Dominionist.

As reported at religionnews.com in February of this year:

Cruz resonates with the evangelical culture warriors. He mixes what New York Times columnist David Brooks describes as political “brutalism” with a belief that he is engaged in a fight with the devil for the soul of the nation. It is only a matter of time before Cruz assumes the role of the Old Testament prophet Elijah and tries to cast down fire from heaven to destroy the “prophets of Baal” who oppose his campaign. When Cruz says he wants to “reclaim” or “restore” America, he does not only have the Obama administration in mind. This agenda takes him much deeper into the American past. Cruz wants to “restore” the United States to what he believes is its original identity: a Christian nation. But before he can bring the country back to its Christian roots, Cruz needs to prove that Christian ideals were indeed important to the American founding. That is why he has David Barton on his side. For several decades Barton has been a GOP activist with a political mission to make the United States a Christian nation again. He runs “Keep the Promise,” a multimillion-dollar Cruz super-PAC. He’s one of Cruz’s most trusted advisers. Barton is the founder and president of WallBuilders, a Christian ministry based in his hometown of Aledo, Texas. He writes books and hosts radio and television shows designed to convince evangelicals and anyone else who will listen that America was once a Christian nation and needs to be one again.

If you want to envision what a Cruz presidency will be like, just think of the governance portrayed in the movie "V for Vendetta", and you'll have a pretty good grasp of what Cruz will bring to the job; more surveillance, more wars, more governmental over-reach, and massive marginalization of anyone who isn't Christian or Jewish.

And if you haven't seen this film, please rent it or buy it; it is one of the most brilliant cautionary tales about government over-reach I have ever seen this lifetime.

The Boston Bombing Anniversary: A Legacy of Unanswered Questions

The Boston Marathon Bombing is one of the most astonishing stories of the new millennium, a smaller but no less problematic 9/11, where, again, so much doesn’t add up. And, again, the FBI appears to have played its long-running role as a coverup vehicle — protecting those who apparently have more hold over the Bureau than either Congress or the temporary occupant of the White House.

In the days after the bombing, WhoWhatWhy risked ridicule, marginalization, and worse, to honor the best instincts of journalism. Virtually alone among American news organizations — indeed, news media the world over, which just promoted the problem-riddled official version of events — we kept our heads down, ignored the brickbats and, with few people and limited resources, pressed onward.

The result was the more than 70 stories we published on our site. We hope, if you are not familiar with them, you will take the time to educate yourself about this mass-murder mystery that touches on so many of the central issues of our day.

It is profoundly important that we keep the spotlight on events like these, where so much of the official narrative does not add up.

MASSIVE SUICIDE BOMB ATTACK NEAR US EMBASSY IN AFGHANISTAN KILLS OVER 28, INJURES HUNDREDS

A massive Taliban suicide bomb as well as a gun attack on a government security office in central Kabul near the US embassy during rush hour on Tuesday killed at least 28 people and wounded more than 320 in Afghanistan earlier today, a week after the militant group announced a spring offensive.

President Ashraf Ghani condemned the assault "in the strongest possible terms" in a statement from the presidential palace, only a few hundred meters away from the scene of the blast in the Afghan capital.

According to Reuters, police chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi said civilians and members of the Afghan security forces were among the dead and wounded. The brazen attack began with a suicide car bomb and security forces and militants then exchanged gunfire, Reuters witnesses near the scene said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To look at what is being focused upon by the whorespondents and presstitutes this morning on TV, it is almost as though this incident never happened.

There is utterly no military metric by which the US and NATO's occupation can be measured as a "victory", these 14 years on. The only leader who was able to conquer and hold this country, through a series of dynastic alliances, was Alexander the Great; and that was only for 3 years!!

This is personal to me, because I have family and friends in the military.

This occupation of Afghanistan is morally obscene, and has no bearing on "protecting the American way of life", whatever that is supposed to be.

Unfortunately, Afghanistan suffers the curse of geography, which means that it is an excellent place through which to place oil pipelines, which is why the petroleum companies, and the military industrial complex, keep compelling members of the US government, who are owned by them, to continue this senseless, insane, and brutal war.

Additionally, have you ever wondered why, right after the US/NATO invasion and occupation of Afghanistan, the cultivation of opium poppies, for the production of cheap, potent street heroin, took off like a rocket?!?

I will guarantee you one thing: this is no coincidence.

Dinosaur Media's Last Gasp: Public's Trust in Media Reaches All Time Low

The way Americans perceive the mainstream media has drastically changed over the past two decades, largely due to the influence of the internet. The internet has not only given us countless perspectives on any given issue, it has also given us the ability to catch the media when they lie or make mistakes, which they have a habit of doing every day. They basically parrot everything the government says, even when it kills their ratings. Not only are their viewership and readership numbers sinking year after year, the amount of trust people place in the media is also falling.

A poll conducted by the American Press Institute found that only 6% of Americans place their full trust in the media.

PATRICK BROWN, JAILED BECAUSE HE COULD NOT AFFORD BAIL, BEATEN TO DEATH WITHIN 48 HOURS

A man in Harris County, Texas, was beaten to death in a jail cell on April 5 less than 48 hours after failing to post bail, authorities told the Houston Press. Patrick Joseph Brown, 46, was booked on a misdemeanor theft charge on April 3 for allegedly stealing a guitar.

According to the Press, Brown was denied a personal bond at his hearing and asked to pay $3,000 to walk free — an amount he could not afford. He was then sent to the Harris County Jail to await trial. Less than 48 hours later, he was found unresponsive in the holding cell he'd shared with several other men, including Curtis Maxwell and Ebenezer Nah.

Maxwell and Nah had beaten Brown to within an inch of his life. He was pronounced dead at nearby Memorial Hermann Hospital soon after.

Did you know that there are 34 locations in the Rockies and High Plains where April is the snowiest month of the season? Not January, not February, not March — but April! Breckenridge, Colorado, averages 26.5 inches; Casper, Wyoming, 11.6 inches; and Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, 11.3 inches of snow for the month of April.

PRISON DEBATE TEAM WHO BEAT HARVARD, WINS AGAIN, THIS TIME AGAINST WEST POINT MILITARY ACADEMY

The Bard Prison Initiative debate team who famously defeated Harvard College students last October put another notch in their belt. This time, in poetic fashion, the prison inmates bested students at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Members of the Bard team, all inmates at a maximum security prison, are enrolled in a college program at the Eastern New York Correctional Facility. They go through a competitive screening process to get there, joining about 1,000 others who made the cut.

Their winning streak in debate demonstrates the cognitive potential that exists in the massive U.S. prison system. This is what motivates the Bard Prison Initiative, which is funded mostly through private donations. Graduates of their college program have an astonishingly low 2 percent rate of recidivism.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This begs the question: what should have been done by the alleged educational facilities these kids attended which could have possibly kept these people from going to prison?!?

Unfortunately, the American system of "justice" rewards institutions which don't work, because it keeps recidivism high, and that means more funds for the prison/industrial complex.

And that complex, by the name of UNICOR, turns out an unbelievable array of products, sold primarily to Federal agencies, including: books for the blind; lingerie; park benches and picnic tables; military jackets and battle garb; human silhouette targets; baseball caps; and blue jeans.

And think about it; in Sweden, they are closing their prisons because their program is 100% rehabilitation, which enables people who have served their time to rejoin the community effectively, and recidivism is in single digits.

Why do American voters keep putting up with what fails utterly, and doesn't work at all in its prison systems?!?

THAT is a mystery, and the success of this debate team proves it.

FEMA continues land grab, forces 300 cabin owners out of their vacation homes in Pennsylvania

The owners of recreation cabins on two islands in the Susquehanna River have to start planning for how they're going to tear down their summer retreats after a crucial vote Monday.

The Londonderry Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an agreement with York Haven Power Company to terminate recreational lot licenses on Shelley and Bashore Islands.

If nothing changes, approximately 300 cabin owners will be shut out of their summer retreats by September 2017 and have to tear them down by October 2019.

OBAMA WENT FROM CONDEMNING SAUDIS FOR ABUSES TO ARMING THEM TO THE TEETH

In the 2002 speech against the Iraq War that helped propel him to the presidency, then-state Sen. Barack Obama denounced not just the looming invasion of Iraq, but also human rights abuses by our “so-called allies” in Saudi Arabia:
Let’s fight to make sure our so-called allies in the Middle East, the Saudis and the Egyptians, stop oppressing their own people, and suppressing dissent, and tolerating corruption and inequality, and mismanaging their economies so that their youth grow up without education, without prospects, without hope, the ready recruits of terrorist cells.
And he spoke out against the U.S.’s role as weapons supplier to the world:

Let’s fight to make sure … that the arms merchants in our own country stop feeding the countless wars that rage across the globe.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In the current bent of American geopolitics, money trumps any possibly of intelligent, and enlightened, foreign policy every time, and the country's president is the "house servant" to the military industrial complex.

Nothing demonstrates that more clearly than does the US government's relationship with Saudi Arabia, a country with a human rights record just to the right of that of Attila the Hun.

"Corporate money uber alles" is the clear winner here.

Group at Coachella yells 'No Español!' to people singing in Spanish

Confused, I listened carefully and came to a realization. The group was singing a Spanish-language song.

Coachella is rich in its cultural diversity. Bands from all over the world hit the stage and festivalgoers have all kinds of culinary options from burgers and French fries to Pad Thai and tacos.

Which is why I never imagined that I would experience such blatant racism in what could be considered a cultural Mecca.

New York City primary voters outraged by broken machines, closed polling places

New York primary voting at some Brooklyn and Queens polling places was a disaster Tuesday morning — with early morning voters arriving to broken machines and belated polling.

Queens resident George Mack said he came to P.S. 52 in Springfield Gardens to vote right at 6 a.m. He, and about 50 other early voters, learned all three machines on site were broken. Volunteers at the school told voters to place their ballots in a slot, and they would all get processed later.

FEDERAL RESEARCHERS BUILD MASSIVE ONLINE DATABASE OF GENOMIC DATA

A new online portal would let scientists access vast amounts of genomic data from patients involved in heart, lung, blood and sleep research studies.

The hub, called GenPort, is supposed to help researchers look into the results of several studies at once, tracking individuals in different trials who might share the same characteristics, known as “synthetic cohorts.”

The Health and Human Services Department is currently looking for small businesses who can help build that hub, so even researchers without informatics or genomics training can make “practical use” of data from cohort studies other scientists have already conducted.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Without the patients' consent, in writing?!?

This means that anytime you will have any kind of test done, no matter if you have no criminal record whatsoever, you will have that data shared with the Federal Government.

Watch “Positive Hell,” The Film Banned By The London Not So Independent Film Festival

“Imagine the sudden announcement of a plague and a death sentence with no real science to support it. It doesn’t seem possible, does it?”

The Truth Barrier presents here the short award winning documentary film by Andi Reiss and Joan Shenton pulled from the lineup by the London Independent Film Festival, after pharmaceutically supported “AIDS Charities” complained the film was “dangerous.” The details of this absurd protest, and how the film makers turned it around, are chronicled here.

Positive Hell is about people who live their lives, in a coastal town in Northern Spain. Doesn’t sound very “dangerous” does it?

I happen to love this film.

HPV vaccine makers to be sued in Japan for damage and deaths caused by toxic immunizations

In response to vaccine injuries linked to the HPV vaccines Gardasil and Cervarix, 12 plaintiffs in Japan plan to file a class action lawsuit against the Japanese government, Merck and GlaxoSmithKine after June 2016. The plaintiffs are seeking answers about why they were not told about the HPV vaccine risks before they received the vaccination.

As it currently stands, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has advised local governments not to actively promote HPV vaccine use. In fact, the health ministry reversed their HPV vaccination recommendation in 2013 after HPV vaccine recipients began experiencing horrible side effects including everything from paralysis to short-term memory loss.
