Inside the ISIS drone factory: Seized Mosul warehouse reveals the jihadis' crude reconnaissance planes and deadly four-wheeled robot bombs

Wooden propellers lie on a stripped-down drone, among tyres and gas canisters. Elsewhere, a four-wheeled contraption stands silent, preparing for its deadly mission.

As the battle for Mosul rages on, Iraqi forces recently discovered this ISIS factory which has been making various death machines - from aerial drones to multi-wheeled robot bombs.

The crude hardware was unearthed in a warehouse in the Al-Shifa neighbourhood on the fringes of the Islamic State-occupied Old City.

China Demands US Halt $1.42 Billion Arms Sale to Taiwan

Chinese officials are expressing outrage today at the announcement of the US planning to sell $1.42 billion in arms to the island of Taiwan, saying that it is “the wrong decision” by the US and sends a wrong message about Taiwan’s status. They are demanding the US immediately halt the sale.

America’s “One China Policy” makes this an annual matter of no small difficulty, as officially the US has a policy of not recognizing Taiwan as a country, but also has a policy of selling them vast amounts of weaponry on an annual basis.

Chinese officials, however, say this was all already discussed at Mar-a-Lago back in April, when President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met for the first time, and that the two had reached “a consensus” which this arms sale is violating.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF Chinese President Xi Jinping sees President Trump as going back on his word from the consensus he reached with Trump during the Mar-a-Largo meetings, this is going to put a tremendous strain on US/Chinese relations.

Poland has ‘moral right’ to demand compensation for WWII, accession to EU – former PM

Poland has a “moral right” to seek compensation for the losses it sustained in the World War II as well as for the economic damage it suffered as a result of joining the EU, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the leader of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) Party and former PM has said.

“It is important to remind … our critics in the West that Poland was the first country that had to stand up to the German Nazism and, 17 days later, was attacked by another genocidal totalitarianism, the Soviet Union,” Kaczynski said in his speech at the PiS congress on Saturday.

PART OF KEEPING close relationships with serial human rights violators, as the U.S. does, is the constant pressure from those governments to ignore their reported abuses. That dynamic was on full display in a hacked email exchange between the United Arab Emirates’ influential ambassador to the U.S. and a top Obama national security official. The sometimes testy back-and-forth between allies, which was obtained by The Intercept, shows how friendly foreign governments lobby the White House on human rights, and how the White House sometimes pushes back.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That the US government frequently colludes with human rights violators, and massive perpetrators of war crimes, does NOT make me happy to be an American citizen right now.

And two of the worst offenders in these areas are Israel and Saudi Arabia.

More Turkish Troops Arrive in Qatar in Show of Support

When Turkish troops were deployed to a military base in Qatar, it was huge news across the region, primarily because it was a show of support by the Erdogan government for the emirate at a time when many of Qatar’s neighbors are blocking them.

The number of troops sent last week was not publicly reported, and that’s because it was not a lot, with the latest Turkish media report suggesting that 23 soldiers were sent back then, and the new deployments announced today brought the number to “at least 88.”

Turkish media suggested this number could rapidly grow, reaching 1,000 as Turkey looks to back its regional ally, and as Saudi Arabia and others demand Qatar expel the Turks outright. The deadline for that demand, and many others, is Sunday night, and Turkey’s deployment likely underscores that they don’t intend to leave.

Webmaster's Commentary:

At this point, the Turkish troop numbers appear to be highly symbolic, but that could change in a heartbeat, if Saudi Arabia actually does invade Qatar, with the objective of regime change in mind.

As ISIS Wanes, New Wars Threaten to Emerge in Syria: Kurds See War With Turkey as Inevitable

Of course in Syria, the ISIS war is itself only part of a broader, more complicated war, and fighting between rebel factions and the government will likely continue beyond ISIS having territory. That doesn’t mean more wars won’t break out, however.

The Syrian Kurds certainly see it coming. On the one hand, many YPG are accusing Turkey of plotting to attack them in Afrin, but on the other hand, one YPG commander is openly threatening to invade Turkish-held territory Either way, US efforts to keep the YPG and Turkey from fighting seem likely to fail eventually.

Meanwhile, the US seems to be gearing up for its own new war in Syria, building up its forces in the country’s southeast with an express eye on fighting the Syrian government and the Shi’ite militias that back them. It’s unclear how the US imagines they can get into this war without getting Russia involved too, which could quickly make this a region, if not world-wide, war.

Damascus 'Will Deliver an Unexpected Response' if West Continues 'Aggression'

"In terms of international law, this is political pressure over Damascus. It is in response to Syrian Army’s advances in eastern Syria. Washington’s accusations are a lie," al Akkam told Sputnik Arabic.

The lawmaker stressed that Syrian forces have never used chemical weapons and will not do that in the future.

Commenting on the allegations, al Akkam said: "As for the legal procedure, if a country suspects another country of planning a chemical attack, it needs to contact the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). The OPCW holds consultations and can send inspectors for an investigation in the suspected country."

Syria is party to the Chemical Weapons Convention. Previously, Damascus has already invited OPCW inspectors for a probe into the Khan Sheikhoun chemical incident. However, Washington did not respond.

Syrian Kurds Plan to Liberate Northern Part of Syria From 'Turkish Invasion'

Syrian Kurdish militia People's Protection Units (YPG) does not recognize the Turkish "invasion" to the north of Syria and will "liberate" that part of the country, YPG Commander Sipan Hemo said Friday.

"We don’t accept the Turkish state’s presence or invasion in this region in any form. I want to stress that we don’t recognize their alliances either. Our goal and struggle to liberate the Azaz-Jarablus area will continue," Hemo said, as quoted by the Firat new agency.

The US isn't yet grappling with the economic disaster that is a shrinking population - unlike Japan. Though it's starting to look like a not-too-distant possibility. US birthrates fell to yet another historic low in 2016 as a whirlwind of economic and cultural factors inspire more women to delay, or forgo, having children. According to provisional data for the fourth quarter provided by the CDC, the US birthrate has declined to 62 births per 1000 women – its lowest level on record, and down from 62.5 in 2015.

This is especially troubling because demographers worry that a dwindling birth rate will hurt economic growth and tax revenues needed to fund transfer payments to a growing elderly population, as more members of the baby boomer generation age into retire.

“The Saudi king’s decision to elevate his son Mohammed bin Salman … is not merely the internal affair of the royal hierarchy, but a game-changing international event. The king’s son is ready to step into his allotted place in a new US-Arab-Israeli alliance established by President Trump in May, along with the UAE, Egyptian and Israeli leaders that will seek to dominate Middle East affairs. Israel will be accepted in a regional lineup for the first time alongside the strongest Sunni Arab nations who all share similar objectives, especially the aim to stop Iran” [emphasis added].

“A game-changing international event”? Why exactly are these Israelis so excited; why should the elevation of bin Salman, known by the initials MbS, be such a game-changer? Is there here something new? And how come the dismissal of Prince Nayef, whom MbS replaced as crown prince and who was a Western favorite, barely ruffled a leaf in protest?

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF, in fact, this is the "quid pro quo" for Bin Salman's ascent, things seem to make sense here; but if, in fact, that is the case, the question of when Israel will be recognised looms large.

The US Department of Defense's 1033 program sends "surplus" military equipment to US police forces ("surplus" in quotes because military contractors lobby for the US military to buy more weapons than they need in order to feed materiel to the program), which has created a situation in which cops show up in their communities literally clad in the armor of an occupying army.

This is reflected in many ways, such as the use of "civilian" to denote someone who isn't a police officer. Police are also civilians, which is why the military police are called "Military Police" -- to contrast them with "civilian police." If your police force considers you a "civilian" then they, perforce, consider themselves to be military occupiers, not community peace officers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One thing not mentioned here is the number of American police on anti-depressants, which have been documented to create violent tendencies in people who are taking, or just getting off, such medications.

Thanks to everyone who helped us over this slump.

With a single wiretap order, US authorities listened in on 3.3 million phone calls

US authorities intercepted and recorded millions of phone calls last year under a single wiretap order, authorized as part of a narcotics investigation.

The wiretap order authorized an unknown government agency to carry out real-time intercepts of 3.29 million cell phone conversations over a two-month period at some point during 2016, after the order was applied for in late 2015.

The order was signed to help authorities track 26 individuals suspected of involvement with illegal drug and narcotic-related activities in Pennsylvania.

The wiretap cost the authorities $335,000 to conduct and led to a dozen arrests.

But the authorities noted that the surveillance effort led to no incriminating intercepts, and none of the handful of those arrested have been brought to trial or convicted.

The revelation was buried in the US Courts' annual wiretap report, published earlier this week but largely overlooked.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Looks to me as though the 4th Amendment, prohibiting unreasonable search and seizure, is truly dead in this country.

And zero convictions, for all this surveillance?!? Absoflippinglutely unbelievable!! The people at the top of this drug ring had to be the "elite untouchables", with many, many friends in high places in this country.

In America, a “National Pension Crisis” Cometh Very Soon! (Video)

America’s pension system is woefully underfunded. Anyone who’s been paying attention to the various news reports can already see that some pension funds, especially in states like Illinois, are already in big trouble. A report by the Fed estimates that private and public pensions are 27% underfunded as at the end of 2016. Others estimate that public pensions alone are in a $6 trillion hole.

In the following video, Today’s Yellow Snow (formerly Right Wing News) looks at the ticking time bomb that is our pension system. The key problem is that pension funds are relying on unrealistic returns, from 6% to 7.5% a year, when their actual rate of return is under 2%. It’s only a matter of time before the pensions have to make drastic benefit cuts to the largest generation in our history, and then the "bailouts" begin, and who do you think that falls on? HINT: Don't get TOO excited about President Trump's tax plan promises!

Clinton Foundation took massive payoffs, promised Hammond Ranch and other publicly owned lands to Russians along with one-fifth of our uranium ore

As it turns out there’s a lot more to the story behind the Malheur Wildlife Refuge — a whole lot more — and this article is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

As you may or may not know, on Jan. 4 Intellihub reported that the Hammond’s ranch and other ranchlands surrounding the refuge sit atop a vast swath of precious metals, minerals, and uranium that’s heavily desired by not only the federal government but foreign entities as well.

However, at the time of the article’s publication, the federal government’s full motive to seize the land was not yet known other than the fact that these elements do exist in the vicinity and are invaluable.

Ex-Weapons Inspector: Trump’s Sarin Claims Built on ‘Lie’

Human Rights Watch (HRW), drawing upon analysis of images brought to them by the volunteer rescue organization White Helmets, of fragments allegedly recovered from the scene of the attack, has claimed that the material cause of the Khan Sheikhun event is a Soviet-made KhAB-250 chemical bomb, purpose-built to deliver Sarin nerve agent. There are several issues with the HRW assessment. First and foremost, there is no independent verification that the objects in question are what HRW claims, or that they were even physically present at Khan Sheikhun, let alone deposited there as a result of an air attack by the Syrian government. Moreover, the KhAB-250 bomb was never exported by either the Soviet or Russian governments, thereby making the provenance of any such ordinance in the Syrian inventory highly suspect.
