THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind.

"And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. "

"How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar. " -- attributed to Julius Caesar

At the end of this year, outstanding federal debt is expected to climb to $19.4 trillion and to rise by $8.8 trillion in the next ten years. Government spending is projected to increase by 5 percent, or $178 billion, while government revenue is projected to increase by less than 1 percent, or $26 billion.

How Central Banks Are Bleeding the Middle Class Dry

The Western welfare states know many ways to get rid of their enormous sovereign debt — at great cost of their citizens. Once the debt burden becomes unbearable, the government simply reforms the currency. Then, the government debt will be “adjusted” with the private wealth of the citizens. This is when the citizens will notice that their government’s sovereign debt is their own debt. But the government does not always need to make use of these large torture devices. More subtle ways, such as financial repression, are possible.

FYI : Hillary Will Abolish the Second Amendment!

Donald Trump was widely criticized by media, Democrats, and even some Republicans after he made a joke regarding Second Amendment remedies to Hillary Clinton’s plan to “essentially abolish” the Second Amendment. -- As if “reporters,” commentators, and politicians were all reading from the same script, they consistently pointed out that Clinton had no such intentions – in spite of the fact that this is exactly what she intends to do.

Stealing from the poor and giving to the rich: Corporate America has stolen $376 Billion in pensions

The S&P 500’s largest corporate pension funds are stealing a staggering $376 billion from their workers by underfunding their pension funds, new figures from Citibank reveal.

The top 25 of these plans accounted for $225bn of that underfunding.

Citigroup’s Chief US Equity Strategist Tobias Levkovich warned, “Pension under-funding continues to be a major issue for S&P 500 constituents as very respectable equity market gains over the last seven years have not substantially alleviated pension pressures.”

Scott Adams: The Mental Vote

I have a hypothesis that many voters have already voted against Trump – in their minds – months before the first absentee votes are cast. The way that works is that a pollster calls someone who is considering voting for Trump – perhaps the week after the Khan controversy – and that voter decides to punish Trump for being offensive that week. So the wannabe-Trump-supporter “votes” against Trump. But only to the pollster.

Parents Sue Over EPA’s Glacial Pace In Lead Paint Reform

Parents are suing the Environmental Protection Agency for taking seven years to update its standards on lead paint regulations. The suit argues hundreds of thousands of families are uninformed about possible lead paint exposure in their homes.

The “unreasonably delay” lawsuit was filed Wednesday in the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

The suit, brought by California Communities Against Toxics, the Sierra Club, New Jersey Citizen Action and United Parents Against Lead National among others, seeks the court to require “the Environmental Protection Agency to promulgate a rule updating the dust-lead hazard standards and the definition of lead-based paint under the Toxic Substances Control Act,” and to do so “within 90 days and to finalize the rule within six months.”

Prediction: If Hillary Clinton wins, within a year of her inauguration, she will be under investigation by a special prosecutor on charges of political corruption, thereby continuing a family tradition.

NSA Whistleblowers: NSA Hack Was Likely An Inside Job

The probability is that an insider provided the data.

I say this because the NSA net is a closed net that is continuously encrypted. Which would mean, that if someone wanted to hack into the NSA network they would not only have to know weaknesses in the network/firewalls/tables and passwords but also be able to penetrate the encryption.

So, my bet is that it is an insider. In my opinion, if the Russians had these files, they would use them not leak them or any part of them to the world.

Stunning Maps Depict Collapse Of Obamacare "Coverage" In 2017

Well, as we've pointed out numerous times things are not really playing out as Obama had hoped with premiums skyrocketing (see "Obamacare On "Verge Of Collapse" As Premiums Set To Soar Again In 2017") and "competition" collapsing (see "Tennessee Insurance Commissioner Warns Obamacare "Very Near Collapse"").

The two maps below prove that point beautifully by illustrating the epic collapse of Obamacare coverage in just 1 year. A collapse that will leave a stunning number of people across the country with only 1 option for health insurance. Meanwhile, healthcare shoppers in Pinal County, Arizona will actually be left with no options in 2017 as all carriers have abandoned service there.

Watch: Scarborough slams 'pathetic' defense of Clinton Foundation

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough on Thursday mocked the Clinton campaign's "pathetic" defense of the Clinton Foundation, specifically the notion that it must stay open if Hillary Clinton becomes president in order to fight the AIDS epidemic.

Scarborough's comments were a response to Brian Fallon, Hillary Clinton's press secretary, who on Wednesday defended the Clinton Foundation by saying it's the key to finding a cure for AIDS.

"So no, the Clinton Foundation will not be completely shuttering its work even if Clinton wins the presidency and for good reason, they want to continue this work," Fallon said. "If any American voter is troubled by the idea that the Clintons want to keep working to solve the AIDS crisis on the side while Hillary Clinton is president, then don't vote for her."

But Scarborough was having none of it.

SAUDI PRINCE DEMANDS US GROUND TROOPS REMOVE BASHAR AL-ASSAD

The former ambassador to the United States said “if the need” for US ground troops arises in the effort to depose al-Assad he “hopes the president will change his mind.”

Asked if Saudi Arabia would send ground troops, al-Faisal said no way.

”It would be a mistake for the United States, or Great Britain… to send in ground troops and overthrow the Assad regime,” Obama told the BBC in April.

However, around the time Obama made this remark the United States sent 250 ground troops into Syria—in direct violation of that country’s national sovereignty—under the pretense of fighting the Islamic State.

The Saudis scoffed and said the move was little more than “window dressing.”

As people move through a space with a Wi-Fi signal, their bodies affect it, absorbing some waves and reflecting others in various directions. Hillary Clinton Enters The Media Wars

When I wrote the above, I had no idea that two days later Hillary Clinton would deliver a speech in Nevada specifically targeting a nebulous movement referred to as the “alt-right,” as well as several of the prominent websites associated with it. Never in a million years did I think Hillary herself would so publicly enter the Media Wars.

The speech itself was pretty bizarre. Although I found her effective on several fronts, I believe it will ultimately backfire by providing free publicity and fame to many of those she intended to demonize.

FDA declared veggies ‘unapproved drugs’ after NYC allowed doctors to prescribe fresh fruit and vegetables as treatment for obesity

“This program makes New York City the largest U.S. city to officially acknowledge that fruits and vegetables have a role to play in preventing chronic degenerative disease — an idea that the FDA insists is delusional. According to the FDA, there is no such thing as any fruit, vegetable, supplement or superfood that has any ability whatsoever to prevent, treat or cure any disease.

“. . . according to the FDA, the mere ‘prescribing’ of a food as something to prevent obesity automatically transforms that food into a ‘drug.’ Under current FDA regulations, then, NYC is guilty of promoting ‘unapproved drugs’ which are really just fruits and vegetables. But that’s how FDA logic works.”

Remember in the movie Forest Gump when Forest said this now-famous line? “My momma always said, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”

Well, he and his momma could have been talking about alleged Libertarian Gary Johnson. Just when you thought there might be a presidential candidate who truly stands for liberty and personal freedom, you end up with a box of rather surprising fruit and nuts.

Bless his heart, he seems to be really confused about a few things. First of all, I don’t think “libertarian” means what he thinks it means. Maybe he just couldn’t get nominated as a Democrat or a Republican. Secondly, his firmly held opinions seem to firmly change, depending on who he’s talking to and whether he wants to pander to the right or to the left. (At the moment, he’s leaning left.)

Johnson just can’t seem to take a consistent stance on several big issues.

A radioactive kitty litter 'bomb'

A typo and a bag of organic kitty litter may end up costing United States taxpayers more than $2 billion in nuclear waste cleanup, according to a new report by Ralph Vartabedian at the Los Angeles Times.

Back in February 2014, a drum of nuclear waste burst open inside the cavernous Waste Isolation Pilot Project (WIPP), which is drilled out of a salt deposit nearly half a mile below the deserts of Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The US Department of Energy (DOE), which funds the company that runs the nuclear waste dump, quickly suspended operations and launched an investigation to figure out the cause.

In their 277-page report, investigators determined the blast vaporized nearly 7.5 lbs of the material inside a single barrel, labeled "Drum 68660." That material included some radioactive isotopes of americium, plutonium, and uranium — byproducts of Cold War-era nuclear weapons production.

BRITISH COMPANIES ARE SELLING ADVANCED SPY TECH TO AUTHORITARIAN REGIMES

Since early 2015, over a dozen UK companies have been granted licenses to export powerful telecommunications interception technology to countries around the world, Motherboard has learned. Many of these exports include IMSI-catchers, devices which can monitor large numbers of mobile phones over broad areas. Some of the UK companies were given permission to export their products to authoritarian states such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Egypt; countries with poor human rights records that have been well-documented toabuse surveillance technology.

WATCH: Buzzfeed Writer Hilariously Trolled by Alt-Right Comedian Sam Hyde

Buzzfeed writer Joseph Bernstein got hilariously trolled while attempting to interview "alt-right" comedian Sam Hyde.

Bernstein was apparently trying to get Hyde to admit to saying something "politically incorrect" on the internet so he could advocate for his new show on the Cartoon Network to be canceled, but Hyde just trolled him hard and ended up turning Bernstein's stupid interview into a viral hit!

Europeans Are Escaping to 'Russian Facebook' to Avoid Censorship

Free speech in Germany has come under fire in recent months with an increasing amount of Germans being arrested jailed or fined for what the German state considers hate speech online. The German government has even enlisted the help of social media giants like Facebook to track down posts that are critical of Muslims or of mass migration. Now more German internet users are flooding to Russian Facebook equivalent VK network to avoid the censorship reports Die Welt. Once more known for being a favourite hangout for European political fringe groups, VK network has become the last bastion for many Germans who simply want to express their displeasure with the ongoing migrant crisis without fear of their comments being taken down or VK alerting police. While it is currently unknown how many Germans are using the service several high profile leaders in the anti-Islamisation PEGIDA movement like leader Lutz Bachmann and former member Tatjana Festerling, have accounts on the site.

Don't mess with Donbass: Massive Russian military drills send warning to Ukraine

The ongoing drill is the largest one that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have held in a year and a half. Attention should be drawn to the fact that the center of military exercises has shifted to the South. In June-early July of this year, basic exercises were held in North-West Russia in response to NATO military activity in the Baltic countries. It’s difficult not to see a foreign policy motivation in the choice of these districts for a sudden armed forces check. The Southern and Western Military Districts of Russia border with Ukraine. Meanwhile, on the border with Russian Crimea, Ukrainian troops are in full combat readiness. What’s more, the intensity of UAF shellings of the republics of Donbass (including the use of volley fire systems) is growing. According to reports from the DPR’s military leadership, Ukraine has deployed 140 additional units of military vehicles to the contact line.

"I Didn't Serve, I Was Used": How Veterans Are Losing The War At Home

A friend of mine, a Vietnam vet, told me about a veteran of the Iraq War who, when some civilian said,

“Thank you for your service,” replied: “I didn’t serve, I was used.” That got me thinking about the many ways today’s veterans are used, conned, and exploited by big gamers right here at home.

Tokyo refrains from commenting Russia’s offer to join relief operation in Syria

Japan’s Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs have refrained from comments on the Russian offer to join the humanitarian operation in Syrian Aleppo. A Japanese Foreign Ministry source told TASS that Japan was rendering financial support to Syria, Iraq and the adjacent countries, who were receiving the refugee flows, in hope of making a contribution to the conflict’s settlement. "Along with rendering inclusive support designed to prevent the alienation and radicalization of certain groups, we also cooperate in the sphere of humanitarian support and support for the purpose of restoration. We also try to relieve the burden lying on the shoulders of recipient countries, which are inspiring the Syrians’ hope for the restoration of their future," the Japanese Foreign Ministry said. The cost of support programs for Syria, Iraq and the adjacent countries have exceeded $1.6 billion since the start of the Syrian crisis.

Hillary Clinton calls Putin 'grand-godfather of extreme nationalism'

During a campaign rally in Nevada, US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton spoke about the dangers of right-wing forces in power, as well as about problems of racism. Clinton noted that her rival Donald Trump supported the policies of Russian President Vladimir Putin. As for relations with Russia, the views of Donald Trump come contrary to the views of all American presidents, from "Truman to Reagan." "He talks casually of abandoning our NATO allies, recognizing Russia's annexation of Crimea, giving the Kremlin a free hand in eastern Europe. American presidents from Truman, to Reagan, to Bush, to Clinton, to Obama have rejected the kind of approach Trump is taking on Russia. And we should, too," Clinton said. According to Hillary Clinton, Vladimir Putin is the "grand-godfather of this global brand of extreme nationalism." Hillary Clinton cracked down on Donald Trump's immigration program too.

EU tries to twist Gazprom's arms before freezing in winter

The ultimate goal of the EU is clear: Russia should not build a pipeline bypassing Ukraine, as Kiev would lose a source of its income, and the EU would lose its leverage for Moscow. The worse it is for Russia, the better it is for the West - this is a well-known postulate. The third energy package of the EU therefore demands the owner of the pipeline and the gas supplier be different subjects. This is a weapon against Gazprom. If there were a Western energy corporation in Gazprom's place, such as Shell or BP, we would not see any form of the Third Energy Package. In addition, the European Union is obsessed with the idea to switch to other sources of fuel supplies, for example from Qatar or Iran. Supplies of liquefied natural gas from the United States are also possible. Yet, the above options require considerable investments that the EU can not afford. For the time being, the EU has TANAP - the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline, approved by the European Commission.

ALINSKY'S DAUGHTER: HERE'S THE TRUTH ABOUT HILLARY THE MEDIA WON'T TELL YOU

But just because Hillary criticized Alinsky’s model in 1969 doesn’t mean she disagrees with his politics. In fact, it could very well be that Hillary’s model, which was to gain political power and wield it to gain social change, is simply her thesis finally realized. She criticized Alinsky, not so much for his tactics, but for his focus on organization. What is possibly the best way to put Hillary’s philosophy is what she told the Black Lives Matter movement, saying, “I don’t believe you change hearts, you change laws, you change allocation of resources, you change the way systems operate.”

Hillary questions whether organizing as Alinsky did in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago and eventually across the country was effective enough because of the unanticipated results. She pointed to other lefty thinkers that criticized Alinsky as a “showman rather than an activist.”
