What is Carrageenan?

Although derived from a natural source, it appears to be particularly destructive to the digestive system, triggering an immune response similar to that your body has when invaded by pathogens like Salmonella. The result: “It predictably causes inflammation, which can lead to ulcerations and bleeding,” explains veteran researcher Joanne Tobacman, MD, associate professor of clinical medicine at the University of Illinois School of Medicine at Chicago. She says the food ingredient irritates by activating an immune response that dials up inflammation. Her previous work showed a concerning connection between carrageenan and gastrointestinal cancer in lab animals, and she’s involved with ongoing research funded through the National Institutes of Health that is investigating carrageenan’s effect on ulcerative colitis and other diseases like diabetes.

Now Vauxhall Corsas 'face fire safety fears': Up to 865,000 models could be a risk after motorists report flames seeping through their dashboards

Up to 865,000 Vauxhall Corsas may have a similar wiring fault to the one that forced a recall of a quarter of a million Zafira models, it was claimed last night.

Experts fear that all Corsa D and E models built since 2006 are a potential fire risk, with dozens of motorists reporting flames seeping through their dashboards.

The Corsa, which is Britain's second best-selling car, is said to have heater wiring susceptible to heat damage, like the Zafira.

Scott Adams: How the Trump Administration Can Lower Healthcare Costs

For the past year I have been working with the UC Berkeley start-up ecosystem – the largest in the world – to help improve their efficiency. I seed-funded a project to build a website that connects entrepreneurs, advisors, and investors in the Berkeley area. But I’m also going to highlight in this blog some Berkeley start-ups that can substantially lower healthcare costs in the future.

Today’s focus is on DeviceFarm, a start-up that cures toe fungus using a patent-pending combination of plasma gas and a special liquid concentrator.

Firmware freakout sends Epson Wi-Fi printers into reset loop

Epson Wi-Fi-connected printers are repeatedly crashing due to what looks like a combination of a firmware update gone wrong and Google Cloud Print.

Reg tipster Terry Bernstein says folks have found that their Epson WF?3520 printers have been sent into a constant loop of shutting down and restarting over the past day.

The issue appears to be related to a recent firmware update, as owners say they began seeing the problem after an upgrade was pushed to the printers by Epson. El Reg has asked Epson for comment on the matter, but has yet to hear back.

Michigan officials say they can not reconcile vote counts in 610 of 1,680 precincts, or 59% of the precincts, in Michigan’s largest county , Wayne County, which Hillary won by a margin of 2 to 1 over Donald Trump because the original vote counts in the poll books do not match the number of votes in the machine printout reports.

Massive Oil Spill ‘The Size of Seven Football Fields” Found In North Dakota

Farmer Steve Jensen stated that he smelled the crude oil a few days before his combines were covered in it. The oil was “spewing and bubbling six inches high,” he said in an interview with CBS News. The Tesoro Corp’s underground pipeline spilled 20,600 barrels of oil under the farmland. It was four times the size of a pipeline that burst in March of 2013 that forced the evacuation of more than 20 homes in Arkansas.

Big Win for Whistleblowers at Supreme Court

Washington, D.C. June 16, 2016. In a unanimous ruling issued today, the United States Supreme Court upheld a whistleblower’s claim in Universal Health Services v. U.S. ex rel. Escobar. The Court, in an opinion by Justice Thomas, affirmed the “implied certification theory” of liability under the False Claims Act (FCA). This theory permits contractors to be liable for fraud when they fail to disclose material non-compliance with regulatory requirements.

Following the death of 17-year-old Yarushka Rivera resulting from a reaction to a medication she had been prescribed by Arbour Counseling Services, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Rivera’s family learned that the “doctors” who had treated Rivera were in fact unlicensed.

These talking toys can tell a defense contractor everything your kid says

you’re thinking of buying a talking toy for your child this Christmas, you’re really going to want to make sure to read the terms of service.

As Consumerist reports, several consumer groups have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission against the makers of two talking children’s toys: The My Friend Cayla doll and the i-Que Intelligent Robot.

The problem with these toys, the complaint alleges, is that their terms of service allow them to record everything they hear and then send that information back to Nuance Communications, a voice recognition software company that supplies the underlying technology behind the toys, but that also does work as a defense contractor.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Retailers with any sense of honesty and morality should pull these toys off the shelves right the heck now.

What these toys are doing are grooming kids, and their parents, to accept massive, Orwellian surveillance inside their homes from the day they are born to the day they die.

Experts Reveal What Caused Galaxy Note 7 To Explode

An aggressive design was found to be the culprit. Instrumental said that Samsung used a pair of polymer layers drenched in electrolytes to separate the positive layer of lithium cobalt oxide with the negative layer made of graphite. When the positive and negative layers come in contact, they cause the electrolytes to heat up and catch fire.

In its attempt to design a ridiculously slim phablet, Samsung compressed the battery while packing as much capacity as possible. The pressure caused the “separator” layer of electrolytes to get damaged easily. Also, the battery tends to swell a little due to pressure created by pushing on the back cover. For instance, placing the smartphone in your back pocket and sitting on a chair could cause the battery to swell slightly.

The worse thing is, claims Instrumental, that Samsung engineers knew all along about the risks of employing a highly compressed battery design.

Obama’s Legacy: A Failing Healthcare System

By Paul A. Philips

When Obama leaves the oval office in January and hands over the US presidency to Trump he will leave behind a troubling legacy. In a number of different ways he has betrayed those he was supposed to serve, the American people. Whether it has been through his involvement in healthcare or running up a serious national debt to the tune of over 20 trillion dollars, or the climate change scam, rising mass poverty and unemployment, homelessness, etc., he will affect many Americans for generations to come.

Taking the case of health as an example, he will leave behind the consequences of his involvement in a seriously failing healthcare system that has done far more harm than good. Some have argued, quite justifiably, that Obama’s involvement in the US healthcare (sick care) system has been deliberately set up to fail due to a number of reasons, which will be explained...

Trump Ponders Petraeus for Senior Job

The news that President-elect Donald Trump called in disgraced retired Gen. David Petraeus for a job interview as possible Secretary of State tests whether Trump’s experience in hosting “The Celebrity Apprentice” honed his skills for spotting an incompetent phony or not.

Does Trump need more data than the continuing bedlam in Iraq and Afghanistan to understand that one can earn a Princeton PhD by writing erudite-sounding drivel about “counterinsurgency” and still flunk war?

In 2007, Adm. William Fallon, commander of CENTCOM with four decades of active-duty experience behind him, quickly took the measure of Petraeus, who was one of his subordinates while implementing a “surge” of over 30,000 U.S. troops into Iraq.

Is Steve Mnuchin Just Another Wall Street Banker?

After weeks of speculation, Donald Trump has announced Steve Mnuchin as his nominee for Treasury Secretary.

Though Mnuchin himself has said little, his resume does seem to contrast sharply with Trump’s populist campaign. Mnuchin, like his father before him, was a partner at Goldman Sachs before joining the world of hedge funds, including working as a portfolio manager for George Soros.

There are some troubling signs that Mnuchin is unlikely to “drain the swamp” connecting Wall Street to the beltway.

For example, during interviews following the official announcement, he was quick to praise Janet Yellen as having done a “good job,” after Trump spent much of his campaign criticizing the sitting Fed Chairman. He also entertained the idea of following the lead of other countries in possibly issuing 50–100 year bonds government bonds

After two deputies slaughtered 62-year-old Idaho Rancher Jack Yantis on Nov. 1, 2015, the sheriff and corporate media had refused to name Jack's killers because they were allegedly "afraid for the deputie's safety." This wasn't right, so with the help of some locals, I published their identies. Mike Rivero 'front-paged' the story at WhatReallyHappened.com and within hours the expose had gone mega-viral and the TV news and newspapers, who already knew damn well who the killers were but were too GUTLESS to publish it, were forced to follow suit. Zollman held a press conference that evening with his tail between his legs and a 180 degree coincidental change of heart, and he was (forced) to name KILLERS BRIAN WOOD AND CODY ROLAND, since at that point the whole world knew. Ron Shevlin, a senior analyst the Boston-based Aite Group, adds that demographics are another reason cash will remain viable over the long term. “A good number of senior citizens are not giving up cash, and a huge portion of baby boomers are not giving it up either.”

NY Times Attacks Trump's Twitter Account As Fake News While Lying About Ivanka

The NY Times openly lies about Donald Trump and Ivanka on Twitter while labeling his Twitter account as a media outlet being used to spread fake news.

Last night Donald Trump announced that Ford has reversed their decision to move Lincoln factories to Mexico but instead will work with the Trump administration to keep the factories and the jobs inside the United States.

Of course, this has sparked outrage in the liberal elitist media who immediately went to work claim Donal Trump is lying about the announcement even though it has been confirmed by Bloomberg and other news outlets.

In smearing the announcement, the NY Times attacked Donald Trump's Twitter account as being used as media outlet to spread this fake news.

The NY Times then went onto to spread lies about Ivanka being in charge of Trump's blind trust.

This was done to smear Trump by fabricating a conflict of interest because Trump's daughter attended yesterday's meeting with Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Meanwhile Donald Trump and his staff have pointed to paid professionals being behind the protests.

FROM OBAMACARE TO TRUMPCARE: NEOLIBERALISM BREWS A SECOND HELPING OF FAILURE

What we do know is that TrumpCare, like ObamaCare, will be a neoliberal, markets-first solution. So the country will have oscillated from the left side of the Overton Window to the right, and simple, rugged, and proven single payer will still be unmentionable in polite company; it will be interesting to watch liberals squirm to avoid discussing it. Since we can cross selling insurance across state lines off as any kind of solution, I’d be surprised if TrumpCare didn’t end up looking like a crapified version of the already crapified ObamaCare.[3] For pre-existing conditions in particular, the Republican plans from 2015 all crapify the coverage (with, for example “least 12-18 months of continuous coverage” being required). Too bad the Democrat victory in 2008 was such a squandered opportunity.

Lawsuits Against Monsanto’s Roundup®

When I published the article, “Glyphosate Contaminates the Global Ecosystem: The Damning New PAN Report,” I mentioned a law firm as a resource because of the lawsuits it has filed on behalf of persons damaged by the use of Monsanto’s herbicide Roundup®. Roundup’s prime active ingredient is glyphosate, a chemical that the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer [IARC] designated a “probable human carcinogen.”

That law firm is Baum Hedlund Aristei & Goldman, Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles, California. The firm’s Director of Public Relations and Marketing emailed a thank you for mentioning that lawsuit. Robin McCall’s email prompted me to want to know more about their clients and the lawsuits, so I asked her some questions about the firm’s glyphosate case load...

GROCERY TRADE GROUP FINED RECORD $18 MILLION FOR HIDING DONOR NAMES IN GMO BALLOT BATTLE

The Grocery Manufacturers Association must pay a record $18 million for violating campaign-finance laws, a Thurston County Superior Court judge ruled (pdf).

The fine is the largest campaign-finance penalty in U.S. history, according to the state attorney general.

The Washington D.C.-based trade group hid donor contributions to oppose voter Initiative 522, which required labeling of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), according to Judge Anne Hirsch's November 2 ruling.

The measure narrowly failed at the ballot, with 51 percent of voters rejecting it. The association spent $11 million to defeat the initiative, but refused to reveal actual donors such as Coke, Pepsi and Nestle, according to the attorney general's office.

Businesses contributed to internal fund created and overseen by the association, and proceeds were then used to oppose the initiative.

The entire scheme, Attorney General Bob Ferguson said, was concocted to bypass election disclosure rules.

Health department defends bleaching of American Royal barbecue, future feedings in jeopardy

A food Nazi! Hungry people go without food so this POS can justify his phony baloney job! I guess this scrooge is anticipating a Hillary win!

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For decades groups have worked to collect leftover food at American Royal's World Series of Barbecue and give it to needy families. But it now appears that could have to come to an end.

The Kansas City Health Department ordered 700 pounds of barbecue it found from the event at a community food kitchen Wednesday to be tossed in dumpsters and covered in bleach. That figure now stands at more than 4,000 pounds as all food collected from the annual event has been destroyed.

“All of that food was uninspected, so that makes it from an unapproved source, it can not be served to the public," Kansas City Health Department Operations Manager Joe Williamson said.

Mysterious illness suddenly paralyses hundreds of US children and doctors don’t know why

A mysterious illness paralysing suddenly hundreds of children across the US continues to alarm and puzzle scientists.

Children have shown up at hospitals unable to move their arms or legs. Dozens of kids have become paralyzed in the past few months alone.

This kind of sudden and devastating paralysis hasn’t been widespread since the days of polio.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It may well BE polio!

To set the stage, let us look at the epidemic of microcephaly in Brazil. Starting the year after a government-mandated vaccine program for pregnant women, there was a sudden surge of babies born with small heads and severe brain reduction. Of course, one is never allowed to cast doubt on the safety of vaccines, so the blame was laid on the Zika virus, even though Brazilian scientists pointed out that Zika had been around for 75 years and never produced this problem. Zika took the blame and massive spraying programs were started here in the US which made the spraying companies and politicians who were invested in them very rich, while decimating benign insects including the honey bees. Today, it is openly admitted Zika was never the culprit in those cases of microcephaly.

One need only look at the flood of TV commercials for various legal firms offering services to the millions harmed by FDA approved medications to understand that something has gone horribly wrong with the medical industry in this nation.

As to polio, the latest polio vaccine is an orally administered vaccine based on an attenuated pathogen. That means taking a live polio virus, weakening it, and administering it to children so that their bodies in theory create antibodies to polio but without actually catching the illness.

But there is a known problem with attenuated pathogen vaccines in that the pathogens can return to full potency after being administered, and it has been documented that this has in fact happened with the oral polio vaccine. But again, since one is not allowed to cast doubt on the fine products being offered by pharmaceutical corporations, this does not get mentioned. Instead we are told that children are coming down with polio-like symptoms, but it simply CAN'T be polio, because after all, they had the polio vaccine!!!!!
