The 10 Most Successful Potheads on the Planet… Cool Enough to Admit It

In a recent piece we published on pot farms, a debate erupted in the comments section, with some arguing that if you smoke pot, you’ll be poor, gay, and “washing dishes until you’re dead.”

Where these stereotypes originated remains a mystery to us. In reality, they couldn’t be further from the truth. Not only have 42% of Americans admitted to trying pot, but pot smokers have gone on to become some of the most successful people in our society. We’re not talking about Willie Nelson and Snoop. These guys are on the Forbes 500, they’re leading the free world, and they prove that all existing pothead stereotypes are nothing more than myths.

Did Court Deal Fatal Blow to Tasers for Police?

In what is being heralded as a landmark decision, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit recently declared that police officers could be held liable for using a Taser without proper cause. And in making their determination, the court also set new legal parameters on how law enforcement is to use Tasers, stating, "The objective facts must indicate that the suspect poses an immediate threat to the officer or a member of the public." The federal finding substantially changes the landscape of Taser usage, and may signal the end of Tasers for law enforcement agencies who are now more vulnerable to civil and criminal action then ever before.

The Effects Of Genetically Modified Foods On Animal Health

The Committee of Research and Information on Genetic Engineering (CRIIGEN) and Universities of Caen and Rouen studied Monsanto’s 90-day feeding trials data of insecticide producing Mon 810, Mon 863 and Roundup® herbicide absorbing NK 603 varieties of GM maize.

The data “clearly underlines adverse impacts on kidneys and liver, the dietary detoxifying organs, as well as different levels of damages to heart, adrenal glands, spleen and haematopoietic system,” reported Gilles-Eric Séralini, a molecular biologist at the University of Caen.

Of course, there have always been murders, suicides, postpartum depression and veteran despondency. But parents killing children, children killing children, children killing parents and people killing their whole families wasn’t news-as-usual before SSRIs appeared in 1988, say anti-SSRI advocates.

“There are two cases of women who stabbed a man close to 200 times and a case of a man who stabbed his wife over 100 times and then went next door to the neighbor’s house and stabbed the neighbor’s furniture about 500 times,” says Henderson, a retired teacher who lives in Texas. “There is also a case of a woman close to 80-years-old who stabbed her husband 56 times and then stabbed herself to death. This kind of energy, rage and insanity was not seen before SSRIs.”

Thirsty? Bacteria linked to feces found on soda fountains

If you're chugging a soda from a fast food joint, you may want to put it down and read this.

A team of microbiologists from Hollins University found that 48% of the sodas they tested from fast food soda fountains had coliform bacteria, according to Tom Laskawy, a media and technology professional and blogger for grist.org.

Coliform is typically fecal in origin.

On top of that, the study found that most of the bacteria were resistant to antibiotics.

Toxic Burden: Women Put 515 Chemicals on Their Faces Every Day

Aside from aluminum, many of these products contain other harmful ingredients like synthetic dyes, fragrances, and parabens. When applied continually, the many beauty products that women use are exposing them to wide range of carcinogens.
The perpetual advent of new and innovative beauty products has led to a massive increase in product usage over the years.

What was once a basic cleansing protocol has turned into a lifestyle of trying the latest and greatest products in an effort to maintain youthful beauty. As a result, women are exposed to more toxic carcinogens from beauty products than ever.

An Environmental Working Group (EWG) study from 2006 found that less than one percent of all cosmetic products are made from ingredients that have all undergone safety assessments.

FDA approves Crestor for people who have no health problem to correct

Selling drugs only to people who are sick is, by definition, a limited market. Expanding drug revenues requires reaching people who have nothing wrong with them and convincing them that taking a cocktail of daily pharmaceuticals will somehow keep them healthy.

All this is, of course, the greatest quackery we've yet seen from Big Pharma, because once this floodgate of "preventive pharmaceuticals" is unleashed, the drug companies will be positioned to promote a bewildering array of other preventive chemicals you're supposed to take at the same time. Did you take your anti-cancer pill today? How about your anti-diabetes pill? Anti-cholesterol pill? Don't forget your anti-Alzheimer's pill, too.

Since 2004, testing by water utilities has found 316 pollutants in the tap water Americans drink, according to an Environmental Working Group (EWG) drinking water quality analysis of almost 20 million records obtained from state water officials.

More than half of the chemicals detected are not subject to health or safety regulations and can legally be present in any amount. The federal government does have health guidelines for others, but 49 of these contaminants have been found in one place or another at levels above those guidelines, polluting the tap water for 53.6 million Americans. The government has not set a single new drinking water standard since 2001.

US Kids Represent Psychiatric Drug Goldmine

On April 22, 2009, the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality reported that in 2006 more money was spent on treating mental disorders in children aged 0 to 17 than for any other medical condition, with a total of $8.9 billion. By comparison, the cost of treating trauma-related disorders, including fractures, sprains, burns, and other physical injuries, was only $6.1 billion.

In 2008, psychiatric drug makers had overall sales in the US of $14.6 billion from antipsychotics, $9.6 billion off antidepressants, $11.3 billion from antiseizure drugs and $4.8 billion in sales of ADHD drugs, for a grand total of $40.3 billion.

Superior man arrested for trespassing on his own land

Jeremy Engelking will appear in Douglas County court this afternoon to face a trespassing charge. But here’s the kicker: The Superior man allegedly trespassed on his own property.

Engelking, 27, aimed to hunt deer Wednesday morning when he noticed a pipeline crew on his land. He hopped on his ATV and told workers they had no right to be on his property because he had received no compensation from Enbridge Energy Partners L.P. for an easement.

Engelking said workers told him he was in an unsafe place and asked him to come to an equipment staging area, where he continued to argue his case.

But just as he was turning to leave, Engelking said an officer from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene and approached with a Taser drawn.

2. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will be forced to invest heavily in intrusive monitoring infrastructure. Guess who'll end up covering those costs?

Chemical alert as six passengers faint on transatlantic flight to Heathrow

Actually, I have witnessed this issue personally 5 or 6 times in long flights.

I almost fainted several times (and I'm not a weakling sicko), and I decided to go do some research. This is what I have come up with, and I believe to be true in great length:
What happens is this. the cabin gets pressurized by something called "BLEED AIR", which is air that stems from some small inlets located right after the large FAN (front section) of the engines.

Now, normally, air keeps coming in through those inlets, which can be called "fresh air", and the "spent air" is let out of the cabin through valves.
Now, the ZIO SCAMMERS IN CHARGE, have found a way TO SAVE FUEL.

One final important revelation about the AP article, and perhaps the agenda of the Director of the NIH:

"Younger children simply don't have as mature an immune system," Fauci explained. "So a first dose of vaccine against a flu strain they've never experienced acts as an introduction for their immune system, and a booster shortly thereafter revs up that immune response."

Court: Monsanto guilty of false claims about product safety

France's highest court has ruled that US agrochemical giant Monsanto had not told the truth about the safety of its best-selling weed-killer, Roundup. The court confirmed an earlier judgment that Monsanto had falsely advertised its herbicide as "biodegradable" and claimed it "left the soil clean".

The company was fined 15,000 euros (£13,800; $22,400). It has yet to comment on the judgment. Roundup is the world's best-selling herbicide. Monsanto also sells crops genetically-engineered to be tolerant to Roundup.

French environmental groups had brought the case in 2001 on the basis that glyphosate, Roundup's main ingredient, is classed as "dangerous for the environment" by the European Union.

Remarks of Senator Russ Feingold Introducing a Resolution to Censure President George W. Bush

The President’s wrongdoing demands a response. And not just a response that prevents wrongdoing in the future, but a response that passes judgment on what has happened. We in the Congress bear the responsibility to check a President who has violated the law, who continues to violate the law, and who has not been held accountable for his actions.

Lava maps causing angst on Big Island

PAHOA, Hawaii - The U.S. Geological Survey's 35-year-old maps of lava danger zones in this southern corner of the Big Island are a tableau of earthy colors and odd shapes originally meant for scientific and planning purposes.

The maps have also long been used by the home insurance industry to assess lava hazard risks. But in the last year or two, the maps have become a source of contention as insurers have hiked rates or completely abandoned areas that are deemed to be the most dangerous.

Fannie Mae, the huge backer of home mortgages, recently declared it would no longer do so in the two most hazardous zones. That has residents pointing fingers of blame at the charts that even the Geological Survey acknowledges are outdated.

Flexner Report

That's what the foundations are all about, ladies and gentlemen. Make no mistake about it. The foundation takeover of the "American Medical Schools" followed almost immediately after Gates went to work for Rockefeller. It was fast and it was simple. It took place in three steps.

Microsoft attacking Linux at the retail level

A forum poster at Overclock.net posted screenshots from the Microsoft ExpertZone training for BestBuy employees titled "Comparing Windows 7 to Linux." After completing the course, BestBuy employees are eligible for a $10 copy of Windows 7. While Microsoft's claims are far fetched at best, one has to wonder what their endgame is.

Proposed Power Corridor Raises Eminent Domain Concerns in Six States

Construction of a $1.2 billion high-power electricity corridor could allow private companies to invoke Federal eminent domain powers.

The corridor is planned for parts of Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia and Virginia. The 500-kilovolt transmission lines are anticipated to be 150 feet high and 70 feet wide, requiring a 200-foot wide swath of land to be cleared.

In my Maryland county, this amounts to 640 acres of land seized - the bulk of which cuts through working farmland and 200-year-old forests. According to the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy (ESLC), Pepco Holdings, Inc (PHI) has stated that they do not anticipate the project will bring jobs to local counties, nor do they anticipate utilizing local contractors to do the work.

Microsoft pushes for single global patent system

"In today's world of universal connectivity, global business and collaborative innovation, it is time for a world patent that is derived from a single patent application, examined and prosecuted by a single examining authority and litigated before a single judicial body," said Guiterrez. "A harmonized, global patent system would resolve many of the criticisms leveled at national patent systems over unmanageable backlogs and interminable pendency periods."

The stores banned GM ingredients more than ten years ago in response to public anxiety about their impact on human health and the environment.

But a source indicated that all the major supermarkets were involved in the discussions except Waitrose.

Fluoride Linked to Arthritis, Study Shows

A 2009 Brazilian study shows that, after brushing with a fluoridated dentifrice, a substantial amount of fluoride is ingested by children. (7)

“Fluoride at any level accumulates in the body,” says Paul Beeber, President, New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation. “So even water fluoridation will cause arthritic-like symptoms in susceptible individuals which is compounded by U.S. physicians’and dentists' lack of training to diagnose fluoride toxicity.” (See: http://tinyurl.com/Susheela

“We know US schoolchildren are fluoride-overdosed (5). What’s it doing to their bones?” asks Beeber.

Startling New Evidence That The ‘Swine Flu’ Pandemic Is Man-Made

In 2005, this “jobbing” of separate ingredients by multiple companies would never have been allowed because of the legal liability issues involved. However, in 2009, all liabilities for death and disability from faulty or contaminated vaccines have been stripped away. Any wrongful death or disability lawsuits against Novartis or any other company will today be summarily dismissed.

Novartis today has carte blanche blanket immunity for their actions and any large pharmaceutical company who so desires, can join them at the feeding troughs just by paying millions for their “kits”.

If this isn’t the pinnacle of criminality, then I don’t know what is.

Study Finds High-Fructose Corn Syrup Contains Mercury

HFCS has replaced sugar as the sweetener in many beverages and foods such as breads, cereals, breakfast bars, lunch meats, yogurts, soups and condiments. On average, Americans consume about 12 teaspoons per day of HFCS, but teens and other high consumers can take in 80 percent more HFCS than average.

"Mercury is toxic in all its forms. Given how much high-fructose corn syrup is consumed by children, it could be a significant additional source of mercury never before considered."

This Isn’t Reform, It’s Robbery

Capitalists, as my friend Father Michael Doyle says, should never be allowed near a health care system. They hold sick children hostage as they force parents to bankrupt themselves in the desperate scramble to pay for medical care. The sick do not have a choice. Medical care is not a consumable good. We can choose to buy a used car or a new car, shop at a boutique or a thrift store, but there is no choice between illness and health. And any debate about health care must acknowledge that the for-profit health care industry is the problem and must be destroyed. This is an industry that hires doctors and analysts to deny care to patients in order to increase profits. It is an industry that causes half of all bankruptcies.

Drinking Cola Causes Muscle Weakness, Bone Loss

People who drink more than two quarts of cola per day may induce severe and possibly fatal potassium deficiency, according to a study conducted by researchers from the University of Ioannina, Greece, and published in the International Journal of Clinical Practice.

"We are consuming more soft drinks than ever before, and a number of health issues have already been identified including tooth problems, bone demineralization and the development of metabolic syndrome and diabetes," researcher Moses Elisaf said. "Evidence is increasing to suggest that excessive cola consumption can also lead to hypokalemia, in which the blood potassium levels fall, causing an adverse effect on vital muscle functions."

Home Office unlikely to accept ID card cloner's offer of demonstration

The Home Office is unlikely to respond to an invitation to see how a UK identity card was cracked and cloned.

A Home Office spokesman confirmed it had received an offer from Adam Laurie, an expert in radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, to demonstrate how he cloned a government-issued ID card with little more than a mobile phone and a laptop.

"We've spent a fortune on this rubbish, dammit. Go away."

EU to probe 'exploding' iPhones and iPods

The EU is investigating reports of exploding iPhones and iPods, it was reported last night.

There are reports of iPods allegedly exploding or catching fire in Britain, France, Holland and Sweden.

Earlier this month an iPod Touch belonging to Ellie Stanborough, an 11-year-old girl from Liverpool, apparently blew up.

Her father complained at the time that he dropped the music player after it over-heated.

'It made a hissing noise,' he said. 'I could feel it getting hotter in my hand and I thought I could see vapour.'

He threw the music player out of his back door and 'within 30 seconds there was a pop, a big puff of smoke and it went 10ft in the air'.

disease-causing bacteria in your anti-bacterial hand sanitizer

By: LizzieTish
Liz posted this link in the Last chat room i was in so credit goes to her! I promised i would post it.

"For a skin-care company, finding disease-causing bacteria in your anti-bacterial hand sanitizer and lotion has to sting." "According to the FDA, a recent inspection of the Roy, Utah-based company's over-the-counter products designed to guard against diseases and treat open wounds and damaged skin instead revealed bacteria that can cause skin and tissue infections, which in severe cases require surgery."

How long were they selling this before the "recent inspection" occurred, more then likely more then a year!

Palm accused of 'spying' on Pre owners

Palm Pre owner Joey Hess claims to have uncovered code within the phone's operating system which shows that the device is sending back information about his location to Palm.

The software developer said that log files for the handset show that his phone has been sending data back to Palm on a regular basis.

Mr Hess said that although the data was sent over a secure link, it contained information about his location, and a list of the applications installed on his handset. It showed how long he spent using those applications, and sent back crash data whenever applications unexpectedly quit.
