Lawsuits: Banks foreclosed after deciding payments too small

Grocery store owners William and Esperanza Casco were making enough money to stay current on their mortgage, but when JPMorgan Chase & Co. offered a plan that reduced their payments, they figured they could use the extra cash and signed up.

The Cascos say they never missed a subsequent payment, so they were horrified when the bank decided the smaller payments weren't enough and foreclosed on their modest Long Beach home.

Their story is echoed across the country by people who claim — some in lawsuits — that banks didn't live up to their end of the deal when they agreed to trial mortgage modifications.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unflipping believable.

Time to end war against the earth

The war mentality underlying military-industrial agriculture is evident from the names of Monsanto’s herbicides – ”Round-Up”, ”Machete”, ”Lasso”. American Home Products, which has merged with Monsanto, gives its herbicides similarly aggressive names, including ”Pentagon” and ”Squadron”. This is the language of war. Sustainability is based on peace with the earth.

The war against the earth begins in the mind. Violent thoughts shape violent actions. Violent categories construct violent tools. And nowhere is this more vivid than in the metaphors and methods on which industrial, agricultural and food production is based. Factories that produced poisons and explosives to kill people during wars were transformed into factories producing agri-chemicals after the wars.

Obama conducting ‘reign of terror’ against suspected White House leakers

(WMR) -- President Obama was urged by the few White House insiders from whom he still takes advice to leave the country on his 10-day Asian trip, his longest trip abroad since becoming president, in order to not inflict any more damage to the Democratic Party in the wake of one of the worst electoral defeats for the party of an incumbent president in recent history.

According to sources close to the White House, who put themselves in great danger by even talking to members of the media, the plans to have Obama leave for a visit to India, Pakistan, Indonesia, South Korea, and Japan are an attempt to get Obama out of the country while top Democrats can sort through the political disaster created for the party by Obama’s increasingly detached-from-reality presidency.

Virtual political guerrilla warfare has broken out between Obama’s inner circle on one hand and senior Democratic officials, including outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Party strategist James Carville, former Demcratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean, and, behind-the-scenes, Vice President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton, on the other.

Highly Enriched Uranium Has a Spot Price on the Black Market?

Nuclear smuggling bust in Georgia reveals that nuclear bomb grade uranium has been sold on the black market long enough to have a standard price per gram.

Eric Blair
Activist Post

In March of this year two Armenians were arrested smuggling high grade nuclear material through Georgia. Not many details about the case have been reported until a recent release by the Associated Press which did reveal something quite startling: highly enriched uranium has a "typical" price on the black market, suggesting that the trade has been active enough for some measurable capacity. According to the AP:

Pennsylvania Homeland Security office engaged in domestic surveillance, compared political groups to Al Qaeda

Donald Gillian
The Patriot-News

Pennsylvania made national news in September for all the wrong reasons.

The Patriot-News reported that Pennsylvania’s Office of Homeland Security had been tracking groups engaged in lawful, peaceful protests, including groups opposed to natural gas drilling, peace activists and gay rights groups. An embarrassed Gov. Ed Rendell, who said that he had been unaware of the program until he read the newspaper, issued an immediate order to halt it.

It turns out the homeland security office or its private consultant were doing more than just monitoring law-abiding citizens.

They were comparing environmental activists to Al-Qaeda.

“He’s Neither Alive nor Dead”: the Resurrection of Ariel Sharon

By William A. Cook — My Catbird Seat

Raanan Gissin, Sharon’s former advisor, made the above comment last month as quoted in the Jerusalem Post (20-10-2010) upon the exhibit of a lifelike sculpture by Noam Braslavsky in Tel Aviv. The wax figure shows the comatose Sharon’s chest move up and down “to depict Sharon’s dependence on a breathing machine.” Some have found the work unsettling. “It’s very tragic,” Gissin noted. It’s “only sickening voyeurism,” Kadima MK Yoel Hasson declaimed. Braslavsky created “the sculpture because Sharon has been absent from the public eye for so long,” according to the Post’s article. Regardless, the exhibit has stirred up the Israelis as they are forced to revisit the former PM who is not yet dead.

Fox News, Fear Peddlers and Falsehoods Reshape Congress

Rupert Murdoch and Shimone Peres

Politicians, pollsters, media and pundits would have us believe ”the economy and taxes” were the burning issues in our late, unlamented midterm elections.

Don’t believe it. A 30 second campaign ad (shown below) was used by a winning Republican candidate to peddle fear. It ran on behalf of one of 60 new House members who returned Republican control to the House of Representatives.

The ad was false. It arrived on the airwaves with the media backing of numerous Fox News pundits and newscasters.

In his nationally televised press conference, President Obama indicated that carbon taxes may be imposed on U.S. citizens through a move designed to bypass Congress altogether, Jerome Corsi’s Red Alert reports.

Knowing that the chances of getting cap-and-trade legislation through a Republican-controlled House and a Senate with a larger, more conservative Republican minority will be almost impossible, Obama suggested a backdoor route through the Environmental Protection Agency may be a way to accomplish the goal without requiring new legislation.

On Sunday two nuclear power plants, both owned by Entergy were forced to shut down.

Little-Known 9/11 Truth Organization Strikes Gold in Court Action Against NIST, Unearths Striking Video/Photo WTC Evidence

Uncovering the data NIST used in its WTC investigations proved to be a little more difficult. The Center filed a FOIA Request with NIST on January 26, 2009, seeking disclosure of “all of the photographs and videos collected, reviewed, cited or in any other way used by NIST during its investigation of the World Trade Center building collapses.” NIST initially ignored this request, and for months dismissed attempts by the Center to gain acknowledgment of its receipt. Undeterred, Gourley filed a lawsuit on May 28, 2009 to get the data released. Since then, NIST has been periodically turning over images and video from its archives. So far, the Center has received over 300 DVDs and several external hard disk drives related to the NIST Reports – more than three terabytes of data – and NIST has indicated that additional records will be released in the future.

One should ask, if the objectives behind this process were benign, why all the secrecy and why the deceit? Why the gradual brinkmanship of the project over time? Most importantly, why the use of threats, such as in the cases of Libya and Syria? Or military means, using violence and murder, such as in the cases of the Palestinian Territories and Lebanon, to bring about the materialization of the process?

One FLU Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

In the UK the HPA collects lab data of positive flu test results. In 2009 there were approximately 3000 influenza A test results and approximately 300 influenza B tests. There were about 105,000 cases of influenza like illnesses. So in comparison flu only made up 3% of flu like illnesses in the UK.
To summarize you are far more likely to catch a flu like illness rather than the flu, 97% of all ILI are not flu! Out of those 3300 who caught flu last year how many died? We don’t know because those details weren’t published in the HPA report. But the mortality rate of seasonal flu is 1% so can we assume 33 people died? So are we getting vaccines to prevent ourselves being one of the 33? Wow that’s playing it safe!

Separation and the Worlds of Differences and Unity.

I noticed some years ago that when I ate fast food I was hungry again shortly after. This was not the case when I ate real food. It did not matter how much fast food I ate, I was always hungry again a short time later. It did not contain the special nutrition of real food. Similarly, trivial entertainments, superficial books that advertise deeper understandings and all of the attractions that purport to be of the deeper ocean of infinite being, are nothing more than shallow pools that lead to greater dissatisfaction and an empty existence. Everyone learns this but most do not register the import that it is evidence of. Everything is evidence of something so, wiser minds can associate everything they contact with the deeper ocean, because all water is common to itself.

Iraqi prisoners were abused at 'UK's Abu Ghraib', court hears

Evidence of the alleged systematic and brutal mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners at a secret British military interrogation centre that is being described as "the UK's Abu Ghraib" emerged yesterday during high court proceedings brought by more than 200 former inmates.

The court was told there was evidence that detainees were starved, deprived of sleep, subjected to sensory deprivation and threatened with execution at the shadowy facilities near Basra operated by the Joint Forces Interrogation Team, or JFIT.

It also received allegations that JFIT's prisoners were beaten, forced to kneel in stressful positions for up to 30 hours at a time, and that some were subjected to electric shocks. Some of the prisoners say that they were subject to sexual humiliation by women soldiers, while others allege that they were held for days in cells as small as one metre square.

WMR: U.S. ratchets up Contra War II against Nicaragua

On November 1, Costa Rica claimed that Nicaraguan troops had taken up position on Calero island in the San Juan River and which is claimed by both countries. Nicaragua claims that its troops are in the area to control drug trafficking from Costa Rica, which WMR previously reported involved Costa Rican police and intelligence personnel. In a statement published by The Washington Post, Nicaraguan Army chief of staff General Julio Aviles confirmed WMR’s previous report stating the drug trafficking from Costa Rica is controlled by an ex-patriate Nicaraguan family operating from San Jose, the Costa Rican capital.

WMR has also learned that the paramilitary operatives operating out of Costa Rica, including CIA and Mossad agents, are now looking at extending their destabilization operations into El Salvador, now governed by the leftist Farabundo Marti Liberation Front government of President Mauricio Funes, an ally of Ortega in Nicaragua. The tactic being used by the Chinchilla-Lieberman regime in San Jose is the same as that being used against Nicaragua: flood El Salvador with cocaine to increase drug gang warfare and instability.

U.S. Banks Failing At Fastest Pace In 2 Decades

WASHINGTON -- Regulators shut down four more banks Friday, bringing the 2010 total to 143, topping the 140 shuttered last year and the most in a year since the savings-and-loan crisis two decades ago.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. took over K Bank, based in Randallstown, Maryland, with $538.3 million in assets, and Pierce Commercial Bank, based in Tacoma, Washington, with $221.1 million in assets. The FDIC also seized two California banks: Western Commercial Bank in Woodland Hills, with $98.6 million in assets, and First Vietnamese American Bank in Westminster, with assets of $48 million.

Twenty-five banks failed in 2008, the year the financial crisis struck with force; only three succumbed in 2007.

The growing bank failures have sapped billions of dollars out of the FDIC's deposit insurance fund. It fell into the red last year, and its deficit stood at $15.2 billion as of June 30.

The FDIC expects the cost of resolving failed banks to total around $52 billion from 2010 through 2014.

UK Unemployed Told: Do Four Weeks of Unpaid Work or Lose Unemployment Benefits

The unemployed will be ordered to do periods of compulsory full-time work in the community or be stripped of their benefits under controversial American-style plans to slash the number of people without jobs.

The proposals, in a white paper on welfare reform to be unveiled this week, are part of a radical government agenda aimed at cutting the £190bn-a-year welfare bill and breaking what the coalition now calls the "habit of worklessness".

In return, where advisers believe a jobseeker would benefit from experiencing the "habits and routines" of working life, an unemployed person will be told to take up "mandatory work activity" of at least 30 hours a week for a four-week period. If they refuse or fail to complete the programme their jobseeker's allowance payments, currently £50.95 a week for those under 25 and £64.30 for those over 25, could be stopped for at least three months.

Unemployment payouts push California deeper into debt

Reporting from Sacramento — California's fund for paying unemployment insurance is broke.

With one in every eight workers out of a job, the state is borrowing billions of dollars from the federal government to pay benefits at the rate of $40 million a day.

Interest on that debt will soon start piling up, forcing the state to come up with a $362-million payment to Washington by the end of next September.

That's money that otherwise would go into the state's general fund, where it could be spent to hire new teachers, provide healthcare to children and beef up law enforcement.

California heads a list of 32 states that have been forced to borrow a total of $41 billion so far from the federal government to pay claims.

Last month, when Breast Cancer Action, a non-profit advocacy organization, attempted to rent a billboard in Indianapolis, they got the kibosh by every rental company in the city. BCA followed the guidelines of all companies contacted, but Indianapolis is home to Eli Lilly's corporate headquarters, and it seems their ad dollars aren't good there. Obama, Republicans Prepare for Joint Assault on American Workers

The calls for spending restraint and “smaller” government apply only to the programs that provide assistance to working people, the sick and the elderly. No Republican congressional leader favors cuts in spending on the military or the gargantuan tax subsidies to Wall Street and the wealthy.

A key element in the Obama administration’s campaign for “export-led” growth is to lower the wage levels of American workers so that American corporations can become more competitive in the world market.

AT&T pushes Supreme Court to demolish right to join class action lawsuits

Telecommunications provider AT&T is pursuing an argument in front of the nation's highest court that would permit companies which require service or employment contracts to explicitly forbid signatories from joining class action lawsuits.

If they succeed, any company which requires contracts could implement the prohibition on lawsuits, effectively shielding the grandest abuses of corporate America from judicial reprisal if customers or workers were to band together. Instead, AT&T seeks to force signatories into an arbitration process through a preselected, privately owned firm.

Undeniable facts about Zionism.

Disinformation is defined as ‘misinformation that is deliberately disseminated in order to influence or confuse rivals.’ It is used by governments to mislead and brainwash their citizen populations, instigate wars, and blackmail foreign regimes. It is the ultimate instrument of the media. The most effective disinformation is that which is comprised of falsehood as well as facts. Wikileaks, founded by Julian Assange, fits this description perfectly, right down to the letter.

NASA Glenn Incident was Actually Drill Gone Wrong

BROOK PARK, Ohio — An incident Friday morning at NASA Glenn Research Center that had authorities scrambling to investigate possible shots fired was actually a drill gone wrong, Fox 8?s Emily Valdez reports.

Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Lt. Donald Michalosky says a “shots fired” message was misinterpreted by someone unaware that it was part of a drill.

Surrounding police departments also did not know about the drill and responded to calls as if it was a legitimate situation. Things escalated from there.

106,000 jobless Floridians could run out of unemployment benefits by December 4th

The clock is ticking for about 106,000 unemployed Floridians.

That's how many people will run out of unemployment benefits by Dec. 4 unless Congress passes another emergency extension during its upcoming lame duck session. And every week after that, Florida officials estimate, another 41,000 jobless will join them — many of them being cut off after receiving as few as 26 weeks of paid benefits from the state...

Indonesia volcano blasts searing gas; 122 now dead

MOUNT MERAPI, Indonesia (AP) -- Searing gas avalanched down an Indonesian volcano with a thunderous roar, torching houses and trees and incinerating villagers as they fled Mount Merapi's worst eruption in a century. Scores of bodies found Friday raised the death toll to 122.

The injured - with clothes, blankets and even mattresses fused to their skin by the 1,400 degree Fahrenheit (750 degree Celsius) heat - were carried away on stretchers following the first big explosion just before midnight.

All Friday, Merapi shot towering plumes of ash that dusted the windshields of cars 300 miles (480 kilometers) away. Bursts of hot clouds occasionally interrupted aid efforts, with rescuers screaming "Watch out! Hot cloud!"

Historically, music has always been at its most powerful when coming from a place of oppression or struggle. As the reality of making ends meet in North America becomes a bleaker prospect with each passing year, regular people who never before questioned their own government, are now finding themselves looking for answers to explain the increasing levels of difficulty and fear we are all now forced to deal with.

The TSA: America’s Real Child Pornography/Molestation Machine

Let me give an example. In Catoosa County (where Tonya Craft’s trial took place), Georgia, James Combs, a substitute teacher, is charged with child molestation because he patted some children on the back during class. (I have read the police reports in this case, along with other documents, and can tell readers confidently that Mr. Combs did not molest anyone, but in the aftermath of the Craft debacle, the Catoosa County authorities are desperate to get back their credibility and hope a jury will convict Mr. Combs.)

Nowhere in those police reports has there been a credible description of Mr. Combs doing what TSA workers do every day at airports. In other words, these workers have a free pass to do what would land anyone else into prison.

Qantas 747 lands in Singapore after engine trouble

According to Qantas website, Flight QF6 is a Boeing 747-400, which is fitted with four Rolls-Royce RB211-524G-T engines. The daily flight operates between Frankfurt and Sydney with a stopover in Singapore.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Yesterday's incident with the Airbus A380 also involved Rolls Royce engines, so there is either an issue with these engines or Qantas maintenance on them.

No, Pentagon says, Obama will not be guarded by 34 ships

President Barack Obama will not be protected by a vast armada of 34 US warships when he visits Mumbai this weekend, officials said, calling reports from India on security preparations "comical."

The claim that many of the 288-ship US naval fleet would be deployed to waters off Mumbai was "absolutely absurd," Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell told reporters on Thursday.

US officials usually decline to discuss details about security precautions for the president, but the media accounts circulating out of India were so off the mark that press officers at the Pentagon and the White House said they felt compelled to speak up.

The tunnel people of Las Vegas

Deep beneath Vegas’s glittering lights lies a sinister labyrinth inhabited by poisonous spiders and a man nicknamed The Troll who wields an iron bar.

But astonishingly, the 200 miles of flood tunnels are also home to 1,000 people who eke out a living in the strip’s dark underbelly.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One cannot utter the phrase "economic recovery" with a straight face, while situations like this are playing out all over the US.

And please remember: many who are forced to live like this, because of their families' utter economic devastation, are children.

Anwar Al-Awlaki, the man charged with masterminding terror attempts/attacks such as the Fort Hood Shooting, The Christmas Day Bomber, and The Times Square Fizzler was reported dead in 2009 by Fox News. This is interesting as it correlates with other top terrorists who are actually dead.

Independent News Site Fraudulently Blacklisted by Internet Explorer After Negative Bill Gates Article

Activist Post

Is the Internet Blacklist already being enforced via web browsers? Microsoft's Internet Explorer recommended that visitors should not access Activist Post today, claiming the site contains threats to outside computers. First, we want to assure all of our visitors that this is blatantly FALSE. Our site does not contain any viruses, malware, or data-harvesting capabilities. We have a voluntary and confidential sign-up mechanism for our free weekly newsletter, which apparently now falls under the category of illegal data mining according to Microsoft.

What's interesting about the timing of this possible censorship is that it comes on a day when we posted an article that reflects negatively on Bill Gates.

Experts: Did UN troops infect Haiti?

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Researchers should determine whether United Nations peacekeepers were the source of a deadly outbreak of cholera in Haiti, two public health experts, including a U.N. official, said Wednesday.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that the strain of cholera that has killed at least 442 people the past three weeks matches strains found in South Asia. The CDC, World Health Organization and United Nations say it’s not possible to pinpoint the source and investigating further would distract from efforts to fight the disease.

Homeland Security To “Regionalize” Emergency Supplies Over Next 90 Days

A phone interview with Sharon Bylier of The Dept of Homeland Security, revealed that H.S. is stepping up regionalizing disaster supplies. Simply put, they are taking emergency items that are currently centralized in Washington, D.C., and distributing them nationally. Sort of like a mobilization of suppies. Their plan is to complete the supply of fifteen H.S. warehouses around the country in the next three months. Ms. Bylier is quoted as saying “we have worked hard the last six months to meet our local objectives.” She continued “the goals of Homeland Security are in sight.” It’s difficult to know if this is a good or bad omen. No comment was offered as to why this program has been given so much urgency at this time. It’s nice to know we’re ready. But ready for What?

When asked to rank the most important service, 95 percent of U.S. voters put water in first place followed by electricity, heat, Internet, cell phone, landline phone, cable TV, and cooling systems, respectively. Everyone instinctively understands the importance of water but collectively we have been ignoring the warning signs indicating that a huge percentage of humanity is not going to be staying with us much longer as food and water shortages impact us like dual sledge hammers. All of our projections of vastly increased populations are going to run into the brick wall of water scarcity and terrible water quality.

CIA lawyer: U.S. law does not forbid rendition

Daniel Pines, an assistant general counsel at the CIA, has asserted in a law journal that the abduction of terrorism suspects abroad is legal under U.S. law, even when the suspect is turned over to countries notorious for torture.

“There are virtually no legal restrictions on these types of operations,” Pines asserts in the current edition of the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal.

“Indeed, U.S. law does not even preclude the United States from rendering individuals to a third country in instances where the third country may subject the rendered individual to torture. The only restrictions that do exist under U.S. law preclude U.S. officials from themselves torturing or inflicting cruel and unusual punishment on individuals during rendition operations, or rendering individuals from a place of actual armed conflict or occupation -- all of which prove to be narrow limitations indeed,” Pines writes.
