Turkey launches first ground operation in northern Iraq

The Turkish military has launched a land operation against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, stating that its aim is to “prevent PKK militants from threatening border security.”

The operation is the first time in nine years that Turkish land forces have engaged in Iraq.

Commando units entered the Zap region of Iraq after crossing from the Çukurca district of the southeastern province of Hakkari. The move, which is part of “Operation Zap,” came after the military determined an increase in movement of outlawed militants in the area, Do?an News Agency reported on Oct. 18.

A total of 21 PKK militants have been “neutralized” since the air-supported operations began on Oct. 16, according to statements made by the military. Authorities use the word “neutralized” to refer to militants who are killed, wounded or captured.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Even though this happened last Sunday, and one might think that this is at least some kind of "big deal", not a word in the western media about Turkey launching a ground invasion of Iraq.

Tillerson: US Troops Will Remain in Syria to Stop Resurrection of Daesh

The diplomatic efforts of the United States in Syria will focus on stabilization measures and a political solution to the conflict there, but not on nation-building, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a speech on the US strategy in Syria.

Meanwhile, the United States has sent additional diplomats to Syria since May to help address the country's conflict, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stressed in a speech.

"Since May, the United States has deployed additional diplomats to the affected areas in Syria working with the United Nations, our partners in the global coalition to defeat ISIS [Daesh] and various non-governmental organizations," Tillerson said.

Moreover, US Secretary of State said that the United States would maintain a military presence in Syria to ensure that the Daesh terror group does not re-emerge in the country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Rex, Rex, Rex, Rex, Rex, Rex!!!!

Forgive me, sir, but in what alternative, fact-free universe do you continue to live, sir?!?

At the behest of the Syrian Government, Russian troops have made absolute mincemeat out of Daesh, sending them collectively scurrying out of Syria with their collective tails between their legs. But there is one thing you have chosen, very carefully , to leave out of your speech, verified in a number of articles in the international press:

In secret deal, President Trump Allowed ISIS fighters safe passage out of Raqqa

Video emerges: US allowing ISIS fighters to escape safely from Syria

Trump enrages Turkey; lest hundreds of Islamic State members to leave Raqqa.

US airlifts ISIS/Daesh terrorists out of Syria for the 2nd time in a week

And last, but not least, validated earlier this month:Images: US creates safe passage for Daesh out of Syria

Can you say, "collusion", Secretary of State Tillerson?!? Wow! I knew you could!!

Oh, and on to another related story:

Syrian Arby vow to end US presence in Syria

The Syrians have been working very successfully with Russian troops to get Daesh out of Syria.

So I must ask, Secretary of State Tillerson; are the 30,000 troops in Syria the "sacrificial lambs" to be used to create a false flag against Russia, as a pretext for war against it?

Because right now, in light of the documented reality that the US goverment has been in collusion with, and supporting Daesh, militarily and financially, I can come up with no other reasonable explanation for their presence here.

Nearly 100 women will read victim impact statements this week, sharing their accounts of the horrific sexual assault they endured when they were young girls, at the hands of Larry Nassar—and in doing so, they are also revealing that USA Gymnastics enabled the predator.

“You failed all of us, and for that, I see you in the same category of criminal as I do the criminal standing before us today,” Olivia Cowan said in court on Tuesday, addressing the roles of USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University in allowing Nassar’s abuse to continue for decades.

Cowan accused the organizations of ignoring numerous complaints about Nassar’s conduct and noted that they have still refused to take responsibility for their role in the abuse, claiming they were never alerted to Nassar’s serial abuse.

“Today, I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a friend that is struggling each day to find peace and joy in all the things that once made me happy,” Cowan said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Enabling this kind of behaviour is criminal in and of itself, period, end of discussion.

The FBI has asked retired Australian policeman-turned investigative journalist, Michael Smith, to provide information he has gathered detailing multiple allegations of the Clinton Foundation receiving tens of millions of mishandled taxpayer funds, according to LifeZette.
“I have been asked to provide the FBI with further and better particulars about allegations regarding improper donations to the CF funded by Australian taxpayers,” Smith told LifeZette.

Of note, the Clinton Foundation received some $88 million from Australian taxpayers between 2006 and 2014, reaching its peak in 2012-2013 - which was coincidentally (we're sure) Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard's last year in office.

After 15 years of repudiating claims that the invasion of Iraq was only initiated to seize Iraqi resources, large oil corporations fronted by former architects of the war who vacated to the private sector are flagrantly advertising their contracts for exploration and production of Iraqi oil fields to potential investors.

The British oil and gas company BP won the contract to operate the Rumaila Oil Field back in 2009, and now proudly boast of its new drilling capabilities on Twitter. Rumaila is simply huge; by some measures it is the third largest reserve of crude oil on the planet, and is currently extracting 100 million dollars worth of oil every day – enough to cover the annual health budget of Iraq under the wartime rule of the US coalition every five days.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So now, it can be honestly shouted from the rooftops; one of the biggest winners in the war against Iraq is... BRITISH PETROLEUM!!

Funny; I don't remember the Butchers of Baghdad (that unholy triumverate of Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld) saying anything about the ultimate winners of the Iraq war being the large petroleum companies who would profit by a takeover of the Iraqi oil fields, or how the US would benefit from that oil only being sold in US dollars.

To the young men and women who enlisted shortly after 9/11, and thought that a war against Iraq would be the perfect revenge; you were decieved with every piece of nationalistic codswallop the US government threw at you, and you swallowed all of them whole.

This war was not about honor, courage, or preserving and defending "the American way of life", whatever that is supposed to be; it was about the money to be made from Iraq's oil reserves, and the reality that the oil would only be sold in US dollars.

Of course, the US warmongering politicians, who benefit greatly from their relationships with America's military/industrial complex, attending memorials for one of our fallen, can never tell the truth as to why this war was initiated in the first place; so they simply reguritate the lies which stand as "cover" for the ugly truth that all wars, including the Iraq war, are truly economic in their origin.

At this moment in time, we stand on a precipice of yet another world war, most likely to be initiated by the American Deep State.

To those young people of draft age, if in fact you have dual citizenship in a country not on the US's invasion route (somewhere maybe like Switzerland, Australia, or Monaco) perhaps heading to those places, and hunkering down there, might not be a bad idea at the moment. And I say that because were I a betting person, I would not bet against the draft being reinstituted in this country, and relatively quickly.

The US government understands that the economy in this country is about to crash, so it desperately needs a war, regional or world-wide, to deflect American attention from the real economic mess into which it has placed all but the most elite, and most monied.

The potential scenarios for conflict are everywhere, and I will mention the most obvious here.

1. The US military is establishing a 30,000 troop strong "buffer zone" for the Kurds in Syria. The Syrian and Russian government are screaming at the US to stand down... or else. And this gets complicated because Turkey's Edrogan has threatened, and appears to be readying, an invasion Syria, to prevent that from happening. So you have NATO allies, potentially the US and Turkey, at each other's throats, militarily.

The longer the US stays inside Syria, the more likely a hot conflict with Russia over this illegal invasion of Syria by the US military.

2. North Korea/China. Even though North and South Korea appear to be making splendid progress in recent negotiations toward peace, expect the US to scupper what it can, in terms of creating a war between North Korea, China, and the US. Statements as recently as yesterday, indicate that the US government is terrified of peace breaking out here, with President Trump making the observation that it is possible that these negotiations will not lead to a denuclearization of the North Korean Penninsula, and Tillerson's observation that the US will not honor the "freeze for freeze" concept, presented by Russia and China.

3. Russia/Iran. I have already mentioned the possibility of war over Syria between Russia and the United States, but there are many other potential flashpoints, Ukraine being a very likely scenario. But should the US/Saudi Arabia/Israel attack Tehran, in order to bring regime change there, it should reasonably expect Russia to defend Iran militarily. And we have seen, in Syria, that Russia does have military hardware which works spectacularly well, and countries around the world have been making a beeline to Moscow to acquire these weapons.

4. China/India: there are still massive geopolitical problems here, and both countries are nuclear armed. In a conflict between China and India, the US government has thrown its hat in the ring with India, with an enhanced "security agreement" put into effect by the Obama administration.

5. India/Pakistan: Again, both countries are nuclear armed, and have been threatening each other with nuclear war. Recently, the US government withdrew financial aid to Pakistan. And, as mentioned in an earlier post today, India just tested a nuclear-capable missile, the "jewel in the crown", if you will, of their ICBMs.

So please remember, when the propaganda starts getting spread hard and thick by the presstitutes, as a "justification" for war, any war, please remember; wars are about the rich (and the bankers) getting richer, and the "grunts" being completely expendable, through death or massive injury, after having done what they were tasked to do. All wars are mass murders toward those ends, period, end of discussion, wrapped in a pretty, cheap little flag.

And "patriotism" is the pathological disability to see beyond the propaganda, and to deconstruct the real agendas of war, which are always engineered to bring more money and profits for the already monied and profitable.

India tests-fires Agni-V, a nuclear-capable ICBM

India has successfully test-fired a long-range intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the country's Defense Ministry said Thursday.

The nuclear-capable Agni-V is believe to be India's most advanced ICBM. It was fired Thursday morning India time from Abdul Kalam island off the coast of the eastern state of Odisha, the ministry said in a tweet.

It called the test a "major boost" to the country's defense capabilities.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We have to hope that this war of words will not escalate into a shooting war between India and Pakistan.

Pakistani threat about nuclear war comes after threat by Indian Military Chief Rawat

In his statement, as reported in the Hindustan Times, Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said Friday his military was ready to call Pakistan’s “nuclear bluff” and carry out aggressive military operations across the border.

"We will call the (nuclear) bluff of Pakistan. If we will have to really confront the Pakistanis, and a task is given to us, we are not going to say we cannot cross the border because they have nuclear weapons. We will have to call their nuclear bluff," Gen. Rawat warned, responding to a question during a press conference on the “possibility of Pakistan using its nuclear weapons in case the situation along the border deteriorates,” said the Hindustan Times.'

Tillerson Breaks With White House, Rejects Freeze Of Military Exercises Near North Korea

In a direct reversal with the recently disclosed official White House policy, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the U.S. rejects a 'freeze for freeze' approach that would pause joint U.S./South Korean military drills in exchange for a pause to North Korea's nuclear program.

Speaking in Vancouver at a meeting with foreign ministers, Tillerson said that "we reject a 'freeze for freeze' approach, in which legitimate defensive military exercises are placed on the same level as the DPRK’s unlawful actions. The pressure campaign will continue until North Korea takes decisive steps to de-nuclearize."

Turkey Notifies NATO Of Imminent Massive Invasion Of Syria To Fight Kurds

Turkey is poised for an imminent massive ground invasion of Northern Syria to quash Kurdish militia groups currently holding Afrin near the Turkish border. Multiple regional outlets have reported a build-up of forces that could constitute the largest external intervening force thus far in the entirety of the Syrian war.

According to Middle East based Al-Sura News, Turkey's military build-up currently underway includes special forces troops, Army units, Turkish-backed Syrian Rebels and Turkey's air force. The Kurdish YPG/J (People's Protection Units) has held Afrin since the Syrian government withdrew from the area in 2012, which constitutes the western-most part of the self-declared Rojava autonomous Kurdish zone.

Lavrov: Russia, China urge freeze to any confrontation on Korean Peninsula

A military solution to the Korean crisis would lead to catastrophic consequences, the Russian foreign minister said, adding that Russia and China reiterate their call to freeze the confrontation and military drills in the area.

The Russian foreign minister spoke about the Russian-Chinese roadmap for a resolution to the crisis on the Korean Peninsula during his annual press Q&A on Monday. Moscow and Beijing have called on all parties to “calm down” and freeze any military activities, including North Korean missile tests and US drills in the area with South Korea and Japan.

“I have already mentioned that the United States almost openly speaks about the inevitability of a military solution, although everyone understands the disastrous consequences of this gamble,” Lavrov stated.

US-Backed Syrian Kurds Mobilize Civilians, Turkey May Attack ‘At Any Moment’

The Kurdish YPG is scrambling to raise its civilian population into an irregular force in the Afrin District of Northern Syria, desperately trying to shore up defenses ahead of a Turkish invasion which officials say could happen “at any moment.”

Turkey’s President Erdogan vowed such an invasion over the weekend, and has been talking it up ever since, insisting now that Turkey needs to not only take Afrin, but to strangle the US-backed border army before it is fully operational.

The US has said the border force will be 30,000-strong, and Erdogan is loudly opposed to the idea, calling it a “terror army,” and insisting that the only reason to establish such a border force would be to attack Turkey.

Webmaster's Commentary:

War with Turkey (and, potentially, Russia) over Northern Syria?!?

This is completely insane, on the part of all parties, except for Syria, which simply wants to be left alone, and Russia, which severely frowns on this illegal occupation on the part of the US.

This could go absolutely out of control at any moment. Let us hope that some adults in the room (Namely, Putin and Lavrov) can ratchet down the tensions before this escalates past the point of no return.

State admits recording jail conversations between defense lawyers and clients

For four years, a tucked-away monitoring system in a certain visitation room at the Anchorage jail recorded conversations between attorneys and their clients — defendants in criminal court – without anyone knowing.

Now defense attorneys are concerned — some are livid — about what they say is a striking violation of basic constitutional rights.

Quinlan Steiner, the state public defender, in December learned from the state that the recordings were secretly and routinely made from 2012 to 2016. The files were automatically recorded over every 30 days. The new information was circulated last month to about 120 Alaska criminal defense lawyers.

"It's not a close call. It's not permissible," Steiner said of the recorded conversations between lawyers and defendants. "They have to be confidential so they can be candid."

America’s shadow war in Africa

A central focus of the mission is the vast desert nation of Niger, nearly twice the size of Texas, which has been a magnet for jihadists of many stripes, including those recruited locally and so-called foreign fighters drawn from North Africa, the Middle East and beyond.

In June, the official number of U.S. troops supporting Niger’s military as it fights the militant groups was 645, up from 575 in December 2016. But now it’s at least 800, according to the Pentagon.

Many of the troops are Green Berets, Navy SEALs and Marine Raiders, but officials said the reinforcements have mostly been Air Force personnel who are there to manage a surge in surveillance flights by unmanned drones and manned spy planes.

Syrian Army Vow to End US Presence in Syria

The Syrian Foreign Ministry has responded negatively to the US pledge to create a new “border” force in northern Syria of some 30,000 US-backed fighters, saying not only are they violating Syrian sovereignty, but the Syrian Army’s goal must be to end the US presence in the country outright.

Syria has long opposed the US military presence in the country, which was deployed without Syrian permission, and which Pentagon officials say will last long after the outright defeat of ISIS.

Whether the Syrians can do anything about it is another matter. The US presence in Syria is substantial, and backed by a large, heavily-armed Kurdish force. Despite the US deployment being plainly illegal, there’s no practical way to remove them by force.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The real question is, how long with the Russians put up with this American foolishness until they feel pressed to "do something militarily" to end it?!?

A group of Princeton and Purdue researchers have demonstrated a successful acoustic attack against mechanical hard-drives where low-frequency noise keyed to the resonant frequency of the drive components is played nearby, causing the drive to vibrate so that the drive can neither be read nor written to.

The researchers demonstrated the attack under lab conditions, successfully preventing a CCTV's DVR from recording the camera signal and stopping a laptop from being able to use its operating system.

The attack is not ready for primetime yet, though: this preliminary work requires relative precision in speaker placement as well as knowledge of the make and model of the target drives. However, the researchers hypothesize that with some refinements, the attack could be carried out by, for example, tricking (or hacking) a victim into playing the correct tone through their computer or device speakers.

US illegal rogue state empire shits on ‘former’ colonial targets annually killing millions, harming billions, looting trillions. Demanding .01% arrests for OBVIOUS Crimes Against Humanity, or prefer causing shitholes under propaganda shitstorms?

Corporate media ignores the overwhelming and ongoing emergencies of so-called “former” colonial nations suffering under military attacks by so-called “developed” nations that annually kill millions, harm billions, and loot trillions. Working cryptography's pretty amazing: because of its fundamental theoretical soundness, we can trust it to secure the firmware updates to our pacemakers; the conversations we have with our loved ones, lawyers and business colleagues; the financial transactions the world depends on; and the integrity of all sorts of data, communications and transactions.

The FBI hates encryption, because they thought the digital world could be one where, for the first time in history, they'd be able to store and look through every conversation anyone has, anywhere, and crypto means that they can only spy on people with a warrant, using traditional techniques like hidden mics, informants, and subpoenas.

The FBI -- along with many other law enforcement and surveillance agents -- insists that it is possible to make crypto that will protect our devices, transactions, data, communications and lives, but which will fail catastrophically whenever a cop needs it to.

Whistleblowers Rebuke FISA Extension That Treats Americans Like ‘Terrorists’

The US House of Representatives voted on Thursday to extend the National Security Agency’s (NSA) warrantless surveillance program for another six years. The controversial program, upbraided as an unconstitutional invasion of privacy by critics, is part of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

Fighting Fake News: Back Door Trick to Enact Censorship?

Fighting fake news is the new pretext given by the ruling cabal in many nations to enact censorship via the back door. Amid the rallying cries of “We must fight fake news!” both France (under would-be dictator Macron) and now Brazil are attempting to pass legislation to ban political content on the web that the government deems to be fake news. There is a theme to this, as it follows on from many acts of censorship in 2016 and 2017. Whether it’s Twitter shadowbanning, Facebook rolling our fake news checkers or deleting entire accounts, YouTube embarking upon soft censorship through forced sign-ins or hard censorship by deleting entire channels, Google’s search engine hiding websites (by de-ranking them) or – worst of all – Google demonetizing content and sites not to its liking, censorship is clearly getting worse and threatening to overtake a free and open internet.

The FISA-created procedure, enacted in defiance of the Fourth Amendment – which makes no distinction between government evidence gathering and government intelligence gathering – permits a secret court in Washington to issue general warrants based on the government’s need to gather intelligence about national security from foreigners among us. It pretends that the standard is probable cause of foreign agency, but this has now morphed into the issuance of general warrants whenever the government wants them.

A suburban Chicago resident who was offering up “slumber parties” in his basement for homeless people in his neighborhood during dangerously cold weather says city officials have given him an ultimatum. Stop the “slumber parties” or the house will be condemned. Greg Schiller, of Elgin, said he began letting a group of homeless people sleep in his unfinished basement last month during brutally cold nights, offering them food, warm beverages and a cot to sleep on while watching movies.

.01%’s evil on earth from cosmic perspective: a Goddess discovers she has a zit

*hyperlinks/videos live at source*

An analogy of present-day evil on Earth. Our story is over two days from three perspectives: a Goddess with a zit, the infected cells within the zit, and white blood cell warriors.
Day 1

Young Goddesses meet for learning, work, and enjoyment. Two apparate within beautiful human-like bodies.

Goddess 2: Oh mySelf! What is that thing on your cheek?!

Goddess 1: Hideously ugly, I know. It’s called a zit. I’ve heard of these, but never got one.

G2: How did it get there?!

G1: It’s a localized infection caused by my relative imbalances recently: too much of some actions and not enough of others.

G2: What are you going to do with it?

G1: (smiling) After topical treatment failed, I now need to wait about a day, then use a tool to remove the infected material. I have to wait, otherwise the infection might go deeper and become a bigger problem.

G2: Good plan. I’ve heard about zits, but have never seen one.

Pentagon Program to Revive Afghan Economy Failed to Account for $675Mln

The US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction said that the Department of Defense's program had spent hundreds of millions to revive Afghan economy, but can't provide reliable data on where the money actually went.

A US Department of Defense program called the Task Force for Business and Stability Operations (TFBSO) spent $675 million on the Afghan economy from 2011 to 2014, but left few records to show where the money went, a report said.

"DOD was unable to provide reliable data showing the extent to which TFBSO projects created jobs, facilitated foreign direct investments, increased exports, or increased Afghan government revenues," the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) said on Tuesday.

As opposed to the current patchwork of states that have legalized either medical marijuana, its recreational use, or both, the analysis looked at what could happen if the U.S. government made it legal to sell marijuana nationwide and included these major findings:

If full legalization occurred in all 50 states today, there would be an excess of 782,000 jobs, and would increase to 1.1 million jobs by 2025.
Full legalization would result in more legal businesses participating in the market, more consumers participating in the legal market, and more employees on official payrolls, resulting in $4 billion in payroll taxes. By 2025, payroll deductions would increase to $5.9 billion.
Assuming a sales tax at the federal level was implemented at 15%, the total tax revenues from 2017–2025 would theoretically be $51.7 billion. This amount of revenue would be entirely new revenue to the U.S. Treasury, as there are currently no federal sales or excise taxes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ah, but you see: this... would be logical.

And, of course, by working against the legalisation of marijuana, Jeff Sessions understands that his "good ol' boys" will profit even more extensively from the private prisons in which they are involved:

CHP Seizure of Legal Cannabis Outrages California Farmers

This is what is wrong with this country. Our employees will not obey their sovereigns and the law. Time for the sovereigns to rein in these so-called public servants!

On Friday night Dec. 22, three days before Christmas and ten days before California ushered in legal retail sales of marijuana for adult use, California Highway Patrol officers pulled over the truck of a locally-licensed marijuana distributor near North State Street and Pomo Lane, just north of the Mendocino County seat of Ukiah.

The truck for Old Kai Distribution was carrying 1,875 pounds of plant material from three local farms. It was to be sorted and inventoried at the company’s Ukiah factory, given traceable bar codes, sent out for sample testing at cannabis laboratories and, eventually, shipped to licensed concentrate manufacturers.

Trump to call on Pentagon, diplomats to play bigger arms sales role - sources

The Trump administration is nearing completion of a new “Buy American” plan that calls for U.S. military attaches and diplomats to help drum up billions of dollars more in business overseas for the U.S. weapons industry, going beyond the limited assistance they currently provide, officials said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Hey, President Trump, I will go you one better; every American official responsible for signing off and promoting this policy, should be compelled TO have their car license plate read: WE'RE AMERICA'S MERCHANTS OF DEATH; AND WE'LL SELL TO ANYONE :-)

Michael Cohen, Trump's personal attorney, files lawsuits against Fusion GPS, BuzzFeed over infamous 'dossier'

Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s personal attorney and close confidant, says he filed a pair of lawsuits on Tuesday, one in federal court against the private investigative firm Fusion GPS and the other in state court against the popular website BuzzFeed.

In both suits, Cohen claims that the infamous dossier of salacious but unconfirmed allegations of collusion between members of the Trump campaign and Russian agents compiled by Fusion GPS and later published by BuzzFeed contained “false and defamatory” allegations that resulted in “harm to his personal and professional reputation, current business interests, and the impairment of business opportunities.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Finally; someone in Trump's camp has realized that right now, the most effective tactics against these smears must include unleashing the most hellish offense possible here.

With major NSA surveillance authorities set to expire later this month, House Republicans are rushing to pass a bill that would not only reauthorize existing powers, but also codify into law some practices that critics have called unconstitutional.

The bill takes aim at reforming how federal law enforcement can use data collected by the National Security Agency, putting a modest constraint on when the FBI can conduct so-called backdoor searches of Americans’ communications. But because such searches make use of a legal loophole, critics say the current bill may do more harm than good by explicitly writing the practice into law.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That Congress should actually be thinking in such a direction is absolute proof positive that this government is frightened to death of its own people.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said that he ordered the first 100 million units of its new oil-backed Petro—Venezuela’s cryptocurrency creation. Each Petro unit will be backed by one barrel of oil, and the 100 million units, at current value of $59.07 per barrel, should be worth almost US$6 billion.

While this sounds good on paper, the move is largely seen as a fanciful idea by analysts, and opposition politicians have said of the project that it is doomed to fail, according to Reuters. A lack of rule of law and falling production are unlikely to make the cryptocoin attractive enough for international investors, not to mention the escalating U.S. sanctions designed to constrict capital flows to Caracas. Citgo, Venezuela’s state-owned U.S. subsidiary, cannot currently repatriate its earnings to PDVSA due to the measures.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As this evolves, look for a total US Naval blockade of Venezuela, accompanied by US Navy and border patrols, boardng tankers of suspected companies doing business with Venezuela in this way.

I would like to quietly and politely remind the White House, State Department, Congress, and the Pentagon, that such an act is looked upon, in international law, as an act of war.

FBI chief calls unbreakable encryption 'urgent public safety issue'

- The inability of law enforcement authorities to access data from electronic devices due to powerful encryption is an “urgent public safety issue,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said on Tuesday as he sought to renew a contentious debate over privacy and security.

Technology companies and many digital security experts have said that the FBI’s attempts to require that devices allow investigators a way to access a criminal suspect’s cellphone would harm internet security and empower malicious hackers. U.S. lawmakers, meanwhile, have expressed little interest in pursuing legislation to require companies to create products whose contents are accessible to authorities who obtain a warrant.

Wray’s comments at the International Conference on Cyber Security were his most extensive yet as FBI director about the so-called Going Dark problem, which his agency and local law enforcement authorities for years have said bedevils countless investigations. Wray took over as FBI chief in August.

Just Say No to Jeff Sessions — Ron Paul

Federal laws outlawing marijuana violate the Constitution, justify violations of civil liberties, and increase violence. By criminalizing nonviolent behavior voluntarily chosen by individuals, drug laws undermine the moral principles underlying a free society. President Trump should fire Jeff Sessions and replace him with someone who respects the Constitution and individual liberty. Also, officials from states with legal medical or recreational marijuana should refuse to cooperate with those tasked with enforcing federal marijuana laws. If President Trump and state officials stand up for liberty, the people will join them in saying no to Jeff Sessions.

Kansas Official Goes 100% Racist to Defend Cannabis Prohibition

The folks in Kansas suffer from extreme Reefer Madness. This is ridiculous!

It’s fairly common knowledge that America’s cannabis prohibition laws were enacted on a foundation of fear, ignorance, and racism. In the early 20th century, local officials in the Southwest began outlawing cannabis when they observed Hispanic men enjoying their mota after a hard day’s work. Harry Anslinger, America’s first drug czar, famously used the fear of race mixing to ramp up reefer madness and pass the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937, which formally codified federal prohibition. Over the past 50 years, marijuana laws have been used selectively against people of color, resulting in our nation’s overincarceration crisis. Even today, black people are four times more likely to be stopped and arrested for marijuana possession than white people.

Justice Denied: The Government Is Not Going to Save Us

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled: it will not hear the case of Young v. Borders.

Despite the fact that a 26-year-old man was gunned down by police who banged on the wrong door at 1:30 am, failed to identify themselves as police, and then repeatedly shot and killed the innocent homeowner who answered the door while holding a gun in self-defense, the justices of the high court refused to intervene to address police misconduct.

Although 26-year-old Andrew Scott committed no crime and never fired a single bullet or lifted his firearm against police, only to be gunned down by police who were investigating a speeding incident by engaging in a middle-of-the-night “knock and talk” in Scott’s apartment complex, the Supreme Court refused to balance the scales between justice and injustice.

Illustrating the brutal nature of servitude police have to their rulers, an innocent English teacher was assaulted and arrested this week for merely asking why the superintendent was getting a raise when the rest of the school system is suffering. The entire infuriating interaction was captured on video and serves to make a powerful statement about who police protect.

Deyshia Hargrave, an English language arts teacher at Rene Rost Middle Schools, was addressing the Vermillion Parish school board meeting Monday night when the incident began. Hargrave—along with dozens of other teachers and staff—had filled the meeting Monday night to discuss the issue of teacher salaries and pay raises.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is an affront to every teacher in this city and county, and I hope that these teachers need to "vote with their feet", and find a school system which respects and rewards those teachers whose classroom results are stellar.

French prosecutors have launched a probe over allegations of "planned obsolescence" in Apple's iPhone.

Under French law it is a crime to intentionally shorten lifespan of a product with the aim of making customers replace it.

In December, Apple admitted that older iPhone models were deliberately slowed down through software updates.

But it insisted it was because the phones' battery performance diminished over time.

The French investigation is being led by the economy ministry's consumer protection agency.

It follows a legal complaint filed in December by pro-consumer group Stop Planned Obsolescence (Hop).

Hop said France was the third country to investigate Apple after Israel and the US, but the only one in which the alleged offence was a crime. Penalties could include up to 5% of annual turnover or even a jail term.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Here is one human being hoping for a coviction which incudes jail time for eac and every Executive in Apple's upper management system who signed off on it; unfotuntely, this case is most likely devolve into a minor annoyance until it is turned around in behalf of the plaintiff for pennies on the dollar.

Spectre and Meltdown make anything with chip in it vulnerable, but Raspberry Pi is safe

So why isn’t Raspberry Pi vulnerable?

Well, as a matter of course, Raspberry Pi runs on an ARM Cortex-A53, making it safe from Meltdown. However, most devices with ARM and AMD cores also use caching and speculative execution, which means they’re vulnerable to Spectre. Raspberry Pi doesn’t, making it one of the few devices on the market that’s free and clear.

The Raspberry Pi blog has an excellent post up explaining exactly how their devices are safe from Meltdown and Spectre. It turns out that the basic lack of caching and speculation in Raspberry Pi is enough to keep things good. If you’re interested, they have an extensive walk-through of the internal logic which Raspberry Pi uses instead of these two techniques. As they conclude,

"Spare Us The Thought Police!" Germans Rage As New Hate Speech Law Backfires

According to Germany's top-selling, and most popular newspaper, Bild, the new German law meant to curtail online hate speech is "stifling free speech and making martyrs out of anti-immigrant politicians whose posts are deleted."

The law which took effect on Jan. 1 can impose fines of up to 50 million euros ($60 million) on sites that fail to remove hate speech promptly and threatens the profitability of such social media giants as Twitter and Facebook.

"Please spare us the thought police!" read the headline in Wednesday's Bild above an article that called the law a "sin" against freedom of opinion enshrined in Germany's constitution, Reuters reported.

Egypt’s proposed anti-atheism law would be an anti-honesty law

Egypt’s Parliament is considering passing a law criminalizing atheism, which is to say they are considering passing a law criminalizing honesty. If the government makes it a crime to admit one is an atheist, then they in effect create an incentive to lie about belief in God. Thus the proposed law would punish honesty and reward lying for those who do not believe in God. Moreover, the proposed law threatens freedom of conscience. If someone in the depths of their soul does not believe in God, through freedom of conscience, it is better to let them speak honestly rather than pressure them into silence or worse yet lying.

Holocaust Revisionist Monika Schaefer Arrested in Germany and Placed in Solitary Confinement for Thought Crime

I was asked by a reader on the Darkmoon site to run an article on Monika Shaeffer, the Canadian Holocaust revisionist famous for her controversial video, “Sorry Mom, I was wrong about the Holocaust.” Until recently, like everyone else I know, I had no idea that Monika Schaefer had fallen into deep trouble.

A series of emails suddenly began entering my inbox last week, giving me the shocking news that Monika Schaefer, on a Christmas visit from Canada to Germany, the country of her ancestors, had suddenly been arrested in a courthouse in Munich. Here she had gone to attend the trial of Sylvia Stolz for alleged Holocaust denial, one of several other well-behaved citizens, sitting there quietly and not expecting any trouble.

Updated | French President Emmanuel Macron has accused the U.S., Israel and Saudi Arabia of instigating a war as their mutual foe, Iran, was rocked by a week of protests.

Macron on Wednesday joined several other world leaders to weigh in on protests that began as demonstrations against austerity measures under Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and later spilled into isolated, deadly clashes between civilians and security forces. The French leader called for dialogue with Tehran and criticized three of his international partners for pursuing what he considered bellicose policies toward a country the trio have increasingly sought to isolate and undermine in recent years.

“The official line pursued by the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia, who are our allies in many ways, is almost one that would lead us to war,” Macron told reporters, according to Reuters.

It was “a deliberate strategy for some,” he added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, of course, should these efforts fail, we are very much looking at a "false flag" to be blamed on Iran as the "justification" for an invasion.

What I would like to very seriously impress upon President Trump; President Macron, and Prince Salmon, is the very excellent results the Russian military have had in Syria recently.

They have weaponry that has been shone to work in intense battlefield conditions.

I would strongly caution that if the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and France attack Iran, they will be staring into abyss of such weapons, and into the faces of the successfully adept and capable Russian military personnel who know how use them.

Private prison industry sees boon under Trump administration

Sessions war on Cannabis is nothing more than a payoff for the $500,00 these 2 private prison gave to the Trump campaign.

When it comes to private prisons in the US, the two biggest names are CoreCivic — the new name for the Corrections Corporation of America — and GEO Group. Management & Training Corporation, another company with prison operations, is not publicly traded.

Both companies welcomed the Trump era with large donations.

In January, GEO Group’s Pablo Paez, the company’s vice president of corporate relations, told USA Today it donated $250,000 to Trump’s inaugural committee. OpenSecrets’ list of inauguration donors noted the GEO Group donation, as well as CoreCivic’s $250,000 contribution.

The month before the election, GEO Group hired two former Sessions aides as lobbyists: David Stewart and Ryan Robichaux, according to Politico.

Follow the Money: Former Sessions Aides are Lobbyists for Private Prisons Group

For activists working on reducing mass incarceration as a cornerstone of criminal justice reform, the future looks more than a little daunting.

On Friday, NPQ wrote about the new memo from Attorney General Jeff Sessions that brought private prisons back into play on the federal level. We pointed out that stocks for private prisons plummeted when then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates ordered they be phased out last year. We reminded you that the day after Trump’s election, those stocks soared. Now, we read in The Nation that in October, just before the election, two of Sessions’ former Senate aides, David Stewart and Ryan Robichaux, became lobbyists for GEO Group, one of the two largest private prison companies, and that the two were specifically engaged to lobby on government contracting.

Trump Must School Sessions on Medical Marijuana. NOW.

School him! Good luck. ThaT man is pathological when it comes to Cannabis!

When it comes to lower-profile yet critically important issues such as medical marijuana, President Trump’s own Justice Department has been actively undermining candidate Trump’s numerous, clear promises to respect the right of states to pass laws that allow for it.

This is important.

Candidate Trump was always very clear in his many promises on medical marijuana. In October of 2015, Trump said at a rally in Nevada “the marijuana thing is such a big thing. I think medical should happen” and then on a Michigan radio station in March of 2016 he said “I think that it should be up to the states.” Trump even went on Fox News during the campaign and said of medical marijuana “I’m in favor of it a hundred percent.” Trump’s support for medical marijuana was unequivocal and considered to be a solemn promise to the voters who put him in office.

Top 5 Stories Buried Or Deliberately Ignored By Mainstream Media In 2017

As public trust in the mainstream media continues to fall to a new all-time low each year, it may come as no surprise that the same outlets promising to provide you with “fair and balanced” coverage, are actually censoring truth and feeding you content that is approved by their social interests. However, as social media becomes more prevalent, it is even more obvious when the MSM ignores the most crucial stories. Here are the top 5 stories the mainstream media missed in 2017:

Dangers of Government Control … Especially to the internet

The United States has been the world leader in the development of internet technology precisely because it has been relatively unfettered by federal and state regulation. The best thing that the U.S. Congress can do for internet entrepreneurs and internet consumers is to send the FCC out to pasture as it did with the Civil Aeronautics Board, which regulated the airline industry, and the Interstate Commerce Commission, which regulated the trucking industry. When we got rid of those regulatory agencies, we saw a greater number of competitors, and consumers paid lower prices. Giving the FCC the same medicine would allow our high-tech industry to maintain its world leadership position.

His latest book, The Deals That Made the World: Reckless Ambition, Backroom Negotiations, and the Hidden Truths of Business, set to be released in March 2018, reveals details of the secret meeting that took place in Geneva that made nearly every product obsolete.

Peretti also lifts the lid on the invention of the multi-billion-dollar diet industry, which came about after a health insurance clerk was struggling to keep up his numbers.

‘US is watching!’: Trump warns Iran amid crackdown on protests (VIDEO)

Trump is a neocon idiot, who loves Israel and is in the process of getting our country destroyed. Everyone knows this is another attempt to overthrow the Iranian government using another Colored Revolution!

Donald Trump has issued a strongly worded tweet warning Iran that “the US is watching” following the deaths of 20 people in anti-government protests that are sweeping the country.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry has hit back at the US president, saying that Trump should focus on his own country rather than tweet about civil unrest abroad.

"Instead of wasting his time sending useless and insulting tweets regarding other countries, he would be better off seeing to the domestic issues of his own country such as daily killings of dozens of people... and the existence of millions of homeless and hungry people," Bahram Ghasemi said, according to AFP.

Google Hiring 10,000 Certified Morons to Further Throttle Free Speech

Google is escalating its campaign of internet censorship, announcing that it will expand its workforce of human censors to over 10,000, the internet giant announced on December 4. The censors’ primary focus will be videos and other content on YouTube, its video-sharing platform, but will work across Google to censor content and train its automated systems, which remove videos at a rate four times faster than its human employees.

Who Are the Leading State Sponsors of Terrorism?

The reality is that terrorism, defined by the United Nations as “criminal acts intended or calculated to provoke a state of terror in the general public,” is most employed at the state level by the United States and its allies Israel and Saudi Arabia, not by Iran. All have used violence directed against civilians in places like Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon, and all three have supported organizations that fit the definition of terrorists. Iran may indeed be guilty of actions that much of the world disapproves of, but it is not the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism as has been alleged.

How Much Death and Destruction Awaits us in 2018? — Paul Craig Roberts.

Throughout the Western world politics has degenerated into fraud. No government serves the public’s interest. Except for some former Soviet satellites in Eastern Europe, European governments have defied the will of the people by admitting vast numbers of refugees from Washington’s wars and others pretending to be refugees. The European governments further imperil their citizens with their support for Washington’s rising aggression toward Russia. The universal failure of democratic politics is leading directly to war.

Dealing With North Korea

If I were President of the United States, this is how I would deal with Kim Jong-un and the North Korean situation.

First, realize that Un’s theatrics are, from his own point of view, perfectly rational. He is not stupid. He looks at what happened to Muammar Gaddafi of Libya; murdered by mobs after kow-towing to the Great Satan. He notes the demise of Saddam Hussain of Iraq, another country that got on the wrong side of our imperialist nation; a similar dismal end befell him, too. It does not take much brain power to realize that Un’s only hope of escaping a similar fate would be, roughly, the one he has adopted: belligerence, nuclear armament, bellicosity, etc.

Here is what to do about the situation.

In 2017, Nearly 100 Times More Americans Were Killed by Police Than Terrorists

Aside from the lack of punishment, the job description of a cop has changed drastically following the onset of the drug war. Police have morphed into a standing army using the same weaponry and tactical gear that can be found on the battlefield in one of the many countries occupied by the United States military. They are actively engaging otherwise entirely innocent and peaceful citizens in this war on drugs which makes the people the enemy.

US Military’s Shortcomings: Most Expensive Does Not Mean Best

Despite being the leader in military spending, the US military has very serious shortcomings. It is mired in problems. Military planning deficiencies greatly reduce combat capabilities. Cost-effectiveness is a big problem. Being the most expensive does not automatically make the US military the best.

US Prepares for Forcible Entry Operations in Remote Theaters of War

Professionals study logistics, amateurs study tactics!

The facts and events summed up above are not front-page stories. They don’t tell much separately but tell a lot when put together and systematized. They lead to believe the United States is urgently preparing for a truly big war waged far away from its borders. The US military is sized, organized, and globally postured to fight it. A doctrine of expanding forces is not as straightforward as producing more fighters and weapon systems. Nothing is possible without logistics. That’s what is given the highest priority as the preparations are intensified.

How Donald Trump Learned to Love War in 2017

The president promised to deliver peace. But in his first year, he expanded every war he inherited.

President Trump has maintained or expanded the wars that he inherited from his predecessor.

As Jennifer Wilson and I pointed out in an appropriately titled column in August, “Donald Trump Is Dropping Bombs at Unprecedented Levels.” Within eight months of assuming office, Trump — with the announcement of six “precision aistrikes” in Libya — had bombed every country that former President Barack Obama had in eight years. One month after that, the United States surpassed the 26,172 bombs that had been dropped in 2016. Through the end of December 2017, Trump had authorized more airstrikes in Somalia in one year (33), than George W. Bush and Obama had since the United States first began intervening there in early 2007 (30).

Kuwaiti report: US gives Israel go-ahead to kill powerful Iranian general

The Israelis and the US government are their own worst enemies and seem to be hell bent on earning the title of Planet Earth's 2 Rogue States.

US intelligence agencies have given Israel the green light to assassinate the senior Iranian responsible for coordinating military activity on behalf of the Islamic Republic in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper al-Jarida.
