No Holds Barred: The ferocious battles for Israel on Western campuses

Since those days the battles have become ever more ferocious, with the much more timid pro-Israel groups at America and Europe’s leading universities being clobbered by Students for Justice in Palestine, Israel Apartheid Week and BDS.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In other words, Israel is unhappy that the world sees it for what it really is, rather than what they want us to see.

Kean University students question need for $219,000 conference table

A high-tech, $219,000 conference table purchased by Kean University raised eyebrows on the school's campus, where some students questioned whether the expense was warranted.

The 22-foot oak table was specially manufactured by a company in China, where Kean recently opened a campus, and serves as the centerpiece of a new conference center.

False flag? ‘Tolerance’ of ISIS, Israel tested in social experiment at Berkeley (VIDEO)

A US political satirist staged a social experiment at a prestigious university. Waving an ISIS flag was met with no negative reaction, but with an Israeli flag he got a less-than-warm reception from the students.

Fredericton High School dress code targeted by young feminists

Fredericton High School’s dress code calls on all members of the education community to dress in a modest and appropriate manner.

But the Fredericton Youth Feminists say the code unfairly targets young women and promotes the idea that sexual assault should be blamed on the woman.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is an "empowerment" tactic the militant feminists used to use back in the 1990s, dress provocatively then attack any man who tried to pay them a compliment.

UK teachers asked to inform police on extremist students

Two county councils in southeast England have asked local teachers to inform police about students suspected of Islamic extremist connections. The request shows authorities’ concern at young Britons joining the Islamic State’s cause.

‘I thought he was going to shoot me.’ Unsuspecting middle school students terrified by active shooter drill.

Police officers in Florida surprised students, teachers and parents Thursday with an active shooter drill. And by “active shooter drill,” we mean that a Winter Haven middle school went into lockdown as two armed police officers burst into classrooms, guns drawn, leaving the unsuspecting children terrified — and their parents furious.

According to Fox affiliate WTVT, officials at Jewett Middle Academy e-mailed parents to inform them of the drill, after it took place. By that point, WTVT reports, cellphones were already filling up with texts from frightened students, who thought there was a real shooter in the school.

In a later statement to The Post, spokesperson Jamie Brown for the Winter Haven police department said they were only aware of one student who texted a parent during the exercise.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Polk County Public Schools spokesman Jason Gearey: this drill was absolutely not about "safety": it was about a total, terrified submission to State authority, any time, anywhere, even though that submission may be hazardous to a student's mental or physical health.

And to the principal, not giving parents a heads-up before the drill, and perhaps choose for their child opt out?!? Pig-headedly, ham-fistedly stupid.

What if a kid in a classroom in this school had a tendency toward severe asthma, exacerbated by stress?!?!? As reported at yahoo.com"

es, asthma causes 4,000 deaths a year in the United States. But this is during very severe attacks, where an asthma sufferer can turn blue from lack of oxygen and can experience chest pain or even loss of consciousness. Just before loss of consciousness, there is a chance that the patient will feel numbness in the limbs and palms may start to sweat. The person's feet may become cold. Severe asthma attacks which are not responsive to standard treatments, called status asthmaticus, are life-threatening and may lead to respiratory arrest and death.

For me, NO CHILD IS EXPENDABLE, as a result of a drill like this.

Were I a parent with a kid at that school, understanding that this had been done without consent, I would have pulled my kid out of that school so fast, the principal's head would be swirling, and either home-schooled, or privately educated my child somehow.

It has become painfully apparent that public schooling in this country equals the public bullying and surveilling of its children.

In many districts, the costs of security devices outweighs what a school district may be paying its teachers, and there is something thorougly and fundamentally wrong with that.

HAS MICHELLE OBAMA DECLARED A WAR ON CHILDREN?

Angry parents in Chickasha complain their kids aren’t getting enough to eat at school. The Holton family says the meal the district calls a “Munchable” is ridiculous and family members say it needs to change.

The meal that daughter Kaytlin Shelton took a photo of Monday consists of lunch meat, a couple crackers, a slice of cheese and two pieces of cauliflower. Schools in Chickasha serve it every other week.

School Defends Drill That Had Police Busting Into a Classroom With Weapons Drawn, Terrifying Students and Parents

Florida parents and students were frightened by an unannounced active shooter drill that took place at a middle school Thursday, but officials and police defend not giving prior warning.

“We actually thought that someone was going to come in there and kill us,” Lauren Marionneaux, a seventh grade student at Jewett Middle Academy, told WTVT-TV.

The news station reported that two police officers, one armed with an AR-15, rushed into Lauren’s classroom during the drill.

How the U.S. Government Could End the Student Debt Crisis Today

Instead of loaning students money, the federal government could just pay for their tuition, without causing any significant economic problems.

Last month, Lower Saxony became the final state in Germany to abolish tuition for all students at public universities. Meanwhile, in the United States, student loan debt has passed the $1 trillion mark. The burden is now becoming increasingly heavy for middle-class and wealthy students, but especially for those from lower-income backgrounds. This injustice has spurred many organizations, like the Occupy Wall Street offshoot Strike Debt, to do what they can to pay off student debt on their own.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In those other nations, they are trying to educate their young people. In the US they are just turning them into debt-slaves and making them think it is all their own fault.

24% Of Millennials “Expect” Student Loan Forgiveness

It appears the concept of no consequences is now deeply embedded in the American society. As Student loan debtloads surge ever higher – and opportunities grow ever lower – NBC News reports a rather stunning 24% of Millennials said they expect their loans will ultimately be forgiven, according to study released Wednesday by Junior Achievement and PwC US. That helps to explain why delinquency rates are at record highs - aside from the massive debtloads and no high-paying jobs – as students see bankers rigging every market in the world with little to no consequence, one can only imagine the lessons being learned.

Black teacher tells whites to kill themselves

A black teacher in a suburb of Dallas, Texas, is out of a job after suggesting whites should “kill themselves” in a profanity-laced tweet directed at “dumb crackers” critical of her support of the racially charged protests in Ferguson, Missouri.

Vinita Hegwood, who teaches English at Duncanville High School, has been placed on administrative leave without pay and will be fired at the next meeting of the school board, according to district officials.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I find this teacher's statements highly offensive.

BUT...

She made these comments on her own time, off campus, using her personal computer and access. She apparently did not make these statements in her official capacity as a teacher.

If it is wrong for schools to spy on students when they are off campus, then the same must apply to the teachers. Your commitment to freedom of speech is measured not by how much you support the people you agree with, but by how much you support the people you disagree with.

Common Core Co-Author Admits He Wrote Curriculum to End “White Privilege”

The truth is, not surprisingly to some, that Common Core is very racist and very political.

According to Dr. Pook, he helped write it to balance the scales because he, and many others, are benefiting from some mythical 'white privilege' that was not earned.

No, it's not about uniform and effective educational standards that benefit our children.

This is about a leftist agenda and yet another shining example of the trainwreck called political correctness.

Obama’s Mental Health Mandate

Using the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre as its justification, the Obama administration has recently given the psychiatric business and pharmaceutical industry a major gift by quietly introducing a behavioral and mental health program in public schools throughout the United States.

Introducing psychiatric explanations and methodologies into school environments guarantees a growing customer base for the psychiatric profession and pharmaceutical industry. Alongside government’s increasing control of healthcare, the technocratic surveillance and management of everyday thought and behavior is likewise emerging as part of what is deceptively termed “wellness.” In reality such efforts ensure an ever-expanding bureaucracy, handsomely line the pockets of a select few, and further normalize a culture of learned helplessness and control within an environment that already privileges conformity as a matter of routine.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Knowing that the public school district in which my child was enrolled was doing this, possibly without parental consent, would get me to pull that kid out of that school so quickly that the principal's head would be spinning, and start home schooling them.

Free College or Another New War?

Noting that U.S. college costs have gone up 500% since 1985, the Washington Post recommends seven countries where U.S. students can go to college for free without bothering to learn the language of the natives or anything so primitive.

These are nations with less wealth than the United States has, but which make college free or nearly free, both for citizens and for dangerous illegals visiting their Homelands.

How do they do it?

Three of them have a higher top tax rate than the United States has, but four of them don’t.

What does the United States spend its money on that these other countries do not? What is the largest public program in the United States? What makes up over 50% of federal discretionary spending in the United States?

If you said “war,” it’s possible you were educated in a fine foreign country.

States slashing education spending

State-level K-12 education spending has fallen dramatically in many states since 2008. In that time, 29 states cut per pupil spending, shifting the burden of financing education to local school districts and, in many instances, forcing schools to cut costs and even teachers.

New Hampshire, Colorado and North Carolina said the state education departments cannot collect and store biometric data as part of student records.

Jakarta International School: Teachers and staff at top international school accused of raping students as young as five

The school says they had agreed with the parents to keep the case confidential to protect the child, and were surprised when Thomas and Ria shared the details with other parents, and then organised a press conference, to reveal what had happened. Thomas and Ria say they weren’t satisfied with the response of school officials, who they say had advised them against reporting the assault to the police.

Following the claims, six Indonesian cleaners, five men and a woman, were arrested. One of them died while in custody; the police say he committed suicide. The four other men all admitted to the crime, but have since retracted their statements, saying they were obtained under torture. Their lawyers also argue the medical examinations of the boy do not show evidence of rape. Their trial began early September.

Police impose checkpoints, deploy drones at high school football game

Fans were startled by the heavy presence of police officers, drone surveillance, and warrantless checkpoints upon entry at the local high school football game.

The prison-like security at Summerville High School was called “the reality of the world we live in today.” As students and fans filed into the homecoming football game on Friday, October 24th, 2014, they were forced to place their belongings in a bin for police examination, then walk through a metal detector. Stadium-goers were restricted from bringing certain items into the stands.

Fans also were quick to notice the conspicuous presence of police officers mixed among the crowd and perched on the rooftops, surveillance drones whirring overhead, and even SWAT team members ready for action.

The security bonanza was imposed because school district officials had allegedly been tipped off that rival gangs might fight at the game, WCIV reported. No incidents of violence were reported.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have precisely two words for the parents and the students who were "treated" to this behaviour, courtesy of their local police: home schooling.

These Countries Do the Exact Opposite of What America Does When It Comes to Higher Education

Germany made international news last week when they decided to eliminate college tuition entirely (before this, it was less than €1,000-- the equivalent to $1,300-- per year). Meanwhile in the United States, the average per-year tuition cost was $8,655 for an in-state 4-year public college, $21,706 for an out-of-state 4 year public college, and $29,056 for a private 4-year college. The average American college student will graduate with more than $27,000 in debt, and college costs in the U.S. have gone up more than 1100% since 1978 with little sign of leveling off.

In light of Germany's actions, we decided to highlight 5 countries whose approaches towards financing higher education put ours to shame.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In those other countries, education is just that, education. In the US, education has become just another scam to ensnare the people into banker debt.

ACADEMIC FREEDOM Vs FREEDOM

I am going to use this space once again to talk about the despicable un-hiring of Steven Salaita at the University of Illinois (I wrote about the Salaita case and what I called The Incivility of Palestinians, last month as well).

I am going to do this because, despite the fact that the academic boycott of the University of Illinois continues apace (there is even, it seems, the rise of a progressive Jewish-identified contingentchampioning Salaita), facile comparisons of Salaita’s case and circumstances with those of various unsavory others are also proliferating.

These comparisons are so thick-headed, so tin-eared, so ham-fisted, that they nearly defy imagination.

'Frustrated Parent' Jeff Severt With Engineering Degree Lashes Out Against Common Core

“I have a bachelor of science degree in electronics engineering which included extensive study in differential equations and other higher math applications,” he wrote. “Even I cannot explain the Common Core mathematics approach, nor get the answer correct.

“In the real world, simplification is valued over complication,” he added, signing the letter as a “frustrated parent.”

Some parents and teachers are divided on the initiative, with one commenter writing on KSDK’s Facebook page: "I can't help my third and fifth graders with their homework because they have to follow ten extra steps to come up with an answer that I was taught how to do in two steps.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Honor student who brought pocketknife to school suspended for the year

The Dearborn Heights District 7 Board of Education chose a less severe punishment for the honor student who was initially expelled after a pocketknife was found in her purse at a football game.

On Monday, after two hours of deliberation, the board voted 6-0 to allow Atiya Haynes to take online classes. She then will be able to graduate with her class in 2015.

The decision still came as a blow to college-bound Haynes, who participated in numerous extracurricular activities including sports.

School officials discovered the knife as she was exiting a bathroom at the game when they searched her purse.

Haynes says the pocketknife was a gift from her grandfather who gave it to her for protection because her summer job required her to ride her bike from southwest Detroit to Dearborn.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So the "educators" are going to wreck this kid's life over a self-defense weapon? Was she a hardened criminal with a record of violent behavior? On what grounds did they presume to search her purse?

I would like to remind everyone that the Second Amendment reads "The right to keep and bear arms." It does NOT say "The right to keep and bear firearms." The Second Amendment reserves the right to the American people to keep and bear not only guns, but knives, swords, spears, or anything else. The United States Supreme Court ruled in United States versus Miller that the Second Amendment specifically refers to arms as carried by the uniformed military, and the uniformed military do carry knives!

Why Are Police Using Military-Grade Weapons in High Schools?

Michael Davis' block in Los Angeles used to have huge trees on both sides of the street, so big they created a canopy. "They were beautiful," says the 17-year-old high school senior. "They covered the whole top of the block." But recently, he says, the trees were cut down. In their place, there are now bright lights and security cameras. Davis is a youth leader with the Community Rights Campaign and its student club Taking Action, which organize around the school-to-prison pipeline, mass incarceration, and the criminalization of black and brown communities in Los Angeles. Having the trees on his block replaced with cameras and lights was just one sign of what Davis describes as a nationwide trend of police militarization against communities of color.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Are these school districts out of their collective minds?!?

This has nothing to do with education, and everything to do with indoctrination of children into the US's "new normal", where weapon-wielding officers are the norm, to get kids "used to it", as this kind of surveillance/instant punishment goes mainstream.

Were I a mom of a kid in a school where this was being done, I would pull my kid out of that school so fast, the principal's head would spin.

How The NSA Plans To Recruit Your Teenagers

Kids across America no longer have to wait until college to plan on being a part of the National Security Agency. In fact, they could start preparing for their NSA careers as early as age 13.

The NSA has began sponsoring cybersecurity camps for middle and high school students, agency recruiter Steven LaFountain told CNBC’s Eamon Javers in a recent interview. Six prototype camps launched this past summer, and the NSA hopes to expand the program to some 25 schools and, eventually, to have a presence in schools in all 50 states.

The camps, LaFountain told CNBC, teach “low-level programming… where most cybersecurity vulnerabilities are” and sponsor activities like a “wireless scavenger hunt” in which 10th graders were dispatched to hunt down “rogue access points.” The general idea is to eliminate “threats out there on the Internet”

“The students are really, really into it,” LaFountain added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem here, is what does the NSA consider a "threat"?!?

Is it a coming from a Christian pacifist (like myself) who believes that wars are a really lousy way of resolving geopolitical differences, and that good faith negotiations are always preferable to people getting killed or maimed for life?!?

IS it people who tell the truth about what a bloated, corrupt instrument of power and control, which always looks out for the monied, this Federal Government has become?!?

The NSA wants business to continue as usual for the major corporations and the wealthy, with never a logical thought about how much better life would be if people were exposed consistently to the truth, in order to have the power to make intelligent, rational choices in their lives.

New report alleges $30 million in fraud and abuse connected to PA charter schools

A new report charges that Pennsylvania charter school operators have engaged in fraud and abuse amounting to about $30 million.

It was released today by several non-profit groups including the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD), Integrity in Education, and ACTION United. The report is called, Fraud and Financial Mismanagement in Pennsylvania’s Charter Schools.

The report claims that within the past 17 years, charter school operators in Pennsylvania have abused the system of at least $30 million. It also asserts that state agencies, charged with overseeing charter schools, are not up to the job of weeding out fraud and abuse.

Call of Duty Director: US Troops Should Occupy Public Schools

A former writer and director behind the successful Call of Duty video game franchise recently expressed his desire to see American soldiers patrolling the hallways of public schools in the near future.

On Wednesday, nonresident fellow Dave Anthony at a recent meeting with the globalist Atlantic Council said it was necessary to have the military stationed at schools to combat the threat posed by Islamic terrorists, whom he claimed could already be working inside America.

“It could be that you have 100 of these guys who may be on our soil right now, who may even be U.S. citizens, who could legally walk into whatever gun store they choose, buy some assault rifles, and start attacking soft targets,” Anthony said, adding a jab at the Second Amendment.

“The threat now, the invasion, comes from within,” Anthony told the Council, adding he envisioned “the soldiers could operate like air marshals on commercial flights,” according to Bloomberg Businessweek.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Absoflippinglutely not!!

The "cure" for this would be massive numbers of Americans deciding to home school their kids, and this is an outcome which I think would be very reasonable if these protocols are adopted nationally.

I would also like to remind to Mr. Anthony that the vast preponderance of school shootings have been done by people on - or just trying to get off - antidepressants, so there are chemical triggers to this behaviour which need to be addressed.

You Won’t Believe How Much Money Michelle Obama’s Ridiculous School Lunch Program Wastes On A Daily Basis

According to a WCPO report, Michelle Obama’s new school program is costing American taxpayers $4 million. And that’s not over the course of an entire year. That is how much it is costing American taxpayers on a daily basis. That’s right; $4 million each day.

A whopping 81 percent of schools have seen an increase in the number of lunches that now end up in the trash. The report also “shows that 60 percent of fresh vegetables and 40 percent of fresh fruit are being thrown away.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Would you be comfortable with your doctor's spouse operating on you? How about riding in a passenger jet where the controls were in the hands of the pilot's significant other?

Being the first lady does not mean Michelle is competent at anything (other than her ability to seduce and marry Obama). And just as you do not allow a doctor's spouse or a pilot's fiancee to take over their duties, nor should the first lady be accorded any authority over our lives merely because of who she married.

In Colorado, a Student Counterprotest to an Anti-Protest Curriculum

A new conservative school board majority here in the Denver suburbs recently proposed a curriculum-review committee to promote patriotism, respect for authority and free enterprise and to guard against educational materials that “encourage or condone civil disorder.” In response, hundreds of students, teachers and parents gave the board their own lesson in civil disobedience.

On Tuesday, hundreds of students from high schools across the Jefferson County school district, the second largest in Colorado, streamed out of school and along busy thoroughfares, waving signs and championing the value of learning about the fractious and tumultuous chapters of American history.

“It’s gotten bad,” said Griffin Guttormsson, a junior at Arvada High School who wants to become a teacher and spent the school day soliciting honks from passing cars. “The school board is insane. You can’t erase our history. It’s not patriotic. It’s stupid.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

"The most successful tyranny is not the one that uses force to assure uniformity but the one that removes the awareness of other possibilities, that makes it seem inconceivable that other ways are viable, that removes the sense that there is an outside." --Allan Bloom, The Closing of the American Mind

In other words, you are kept slaves not by force, but by making sure you are unaware of alternatives to the imposed reality.

There is nothing new in erasing from the curriculum knowledge the government and the money-junkies do not want you to have. The prime cause of the American Revolution, according to Ben Franklin and many of the other Founding Fathers, was King George III's Currency act, which forced the American colonists to conduct all commerce using bank notes borrowed at interest from the Rothschild-owned Bank of England. This practice plunged the working classes of America into the same crushing poverty as working people in Britain of the same time. In 1913, when a corrupt Congress and a corrupt President sold us back into the slavery of the very same system of banking, the public schools stopped teaching about the Currency act and presented the American Revolution as being about the Stamp Act, tea in Boston Harbor, and so forth, so that generations of Americans, believing they were educated, were ignorant of the fact that this nation was started and did quite well using an entirely different system of national economics.

Today the government doesn't want children growing up aware that there even was a revolution, given that we now suffer many of the same evils that prompted the first one. I am proud of these students and teachers for taking a stand against manufactured history!
