UPDATED POST ~~ VIDEO ~~ A JEW AND AN ARAB WALK INTO A BAR … AND THE REALITY IN ISRAEL TODAY

Bezalel Smotrich, perhaps the most right-wing member of the current Knesset, caused a storm when he endorsed the idea that Arabs and Jew should be segregated in Israel’s maternity rooms.

Smotrich was responding to a report on the Israel Broadcast Authority that several hospitals practice de facto segregation of maternity rooms — placing Jews with Jews and Arabs with Arabs. Such segregation is prohibited by law.

“There are mental gaps, and it’s more comfortable for both sides to be with themselves,” Smotrich, a member of the religious Zionist Jewish Home party, tweeted on April 5. “It’s really not racism.”

Palestinian Activists File $34.5 Billion Lawsuit against US Corporations and Wealthy Americans Which Support West Bank Settlements

A group of Palestinians affected by Israel’s activities have filed a $34.5 billion lawsuit against US and Israeli entities supporting West Bank settlements. The lawsuit was filed in the Federal District Court of Columbia in the United States.

Ayman Nejm, media spokesman for Martin McMahon and Associates, the law firm that filed the law suit, told Safa news agency on Monday that the case is the first of its kind where Palestinian and Palestinian-American plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit against wealthy US citizens and tax-exempt entities that have provided massive financial assistance to settlements across the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

According to the statement, the lawsuit has been filed against construction companies, security firms, real estate agencies and private banks involved in supporting the growth of Israeli settlements.

Palestine: Israeli Police Abusing Detained Children

Israeli security forces are abusing Palestinian children detained in the West Bank. The number of Palestinian children arrested by Israeli forces has more than doubled since October 2015.

Interviews with children who have been detained, video footage, and reports from lawyers reveal that Israeli security forces are using unnecessary force in arresting and detaining children, in some cases beating them, and holding them in unsafe and abusive conditions.

WHY WAS THE NAKBA TOUR CANCELED AT STANFORD?

Alison is an extremely committed and popular antiracist writer, speaker, and activist, and people even follow her work in refugee camps in Lebanon. While some groups oppose her and If Americans Knew, most people working for justice in Palestine feel she is one of the top writers and speakers on this issue.

In any case this should not be an issue for the Nakba Tour; Alison is not one of the national organizers of the tour, and she was not intended to be one of the speakers or to have any role in the presentation at Stanford. She was simply there as a favor to us, as described above.

WH Campaign Shields Israel's Occupation Ferocity

So obsessed is U.S. media with this year's headlong dash for the White House, that Israel's increase in settlement construction has gone by us like a snake sliding into a backyard recycling bin.

The Paris-based news agency, AFP reported from Jerusalem this week that "the number of West Bank settlements Israel plans to build... has more than tripled ...in the first quarter of 2016 compared to the same period last year."

Israeli-based Peace Now, a settlement watchdog, said in a statement "that between January and March, projects for 674 housing units passed at least one of the steps in the planning approval process, up from 194 in the first quarter of 2015."

The absence of media attention to such a development is no surprise. The mainline media narrative on Israel/Palestine is already conditioned to treat Israel as a 51st U.S. state, surrounded by "terrorists."

Army Dumps Rubble And Sand On Farmland Near Bethlehem

Israeli soldiers invaded, Monday morning, a Palestinian agricultural land in the al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem, and dumped rubble and sand on the plants. The land is close to the illegal ‘Daniel’ colony.

Ahmad Salah, coordinator of the Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlements in al-Khader, said the soldiers placed the rubble and sand on the land that belongs to Ibrahim Hasan Khreisha.

Salah added that the total size of this farmland is eight Dunams (1.976 Acres), and that the soldiers did this act without any reason or prior notice.

Obama, Support Abbas' UN Resolution, No Matter What Netanyahu Says

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas keeps coming up with moves that could advance the peace process. In his efforts to get the international community behind a major initiative, Abbas is expected to submit to the UN Security Council this month a draft resolution reflecting international consensus that could help to jump-start the stalled peace process.

The resolution calls for the immediate resumption of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, with a one-year deadline to complete them and reach a final-status arrangement based on the principle of two states. It would define the settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem as illegal and an obstacle to peace and condemn continued Israeli construction in the occupied territories, as well as any action whose purpose is to change the demographic balance in the area.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Here is where Netanyahu's grand-standing before Congress during the P5+1 talks may come back to bite him.

SAVE OUR CHILDREN BY SUPPORTING BDS

In the past few months, especially since the beginning of the current wave of Palestinian resistance against Israel’s enduring brutal military occupation, about six months ago, the Israeli army and other security forces adopted a decidedly murderous policy against Palestinians, especially children.

A shoot-to-kill policy was adopted by the Israeli political and military leadership, apparently for the purpose of terrorizing and “deterring” the Palestinian populace. Consequently, dozens of young Palestinians were needlessly murdered on the streets of the West Bank on the pretext that some of the victims may have put the life of Israeli soldiers at risk.

In some incidents, soldiers fired additional bullets at the heads of the already completely “neutralized” Victims.

In the Israeli army lexicon, this is done for the purpose of verifying their death.

REMEMBERING THE TERROR THAT LED TO JEWISH STATEHOOD

Palestinians on Saturday marked the 68th anniversary of the massacre of more than 100 Palestinians civilians carried out by Zionist paramilitary groups in the village of Deir Yassin in 1948 prior to the establishment of Israel.

Deir Yassin has long been a symbol of Israeli violence for Palestinians because of the particularly gruesome nature of the slaughter, which targeted men, women, children, and the elderly in the small village west of Jerusalem.

The number of victims is generally believed to be around 107, though figures given at the time reached up to 254, out of a village that numbered around 600 at the time.

The Deir Yassin massacre was led by the Irgun group, whose head was future Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, with support from other paramilitary groups Haganah and Lehi whose primary aim was to push Palestinians out through force.

Omar Accomplished His Job, Omar Is Free To Go

Right wing Israeli politicians knew about Omar Barghouti’s activities all along. Israel allowed Omar Barghouti to travel around the globe and condemn the occupation. Israel allowed it because from a very early stage BDS was an Israeli controlled opposition maneuver.

For Israel, BDS presented the ideal front on which to fight. Instead of battling for a Palestinian Right Of Return, that is ethically solid and backed by UN resolutions, the solidarity movement was reduced to an internal Jewish debate over the “Right to BDS.” Instead of dealing with the acute Palestinian refugee crisis in Syria and Lebanon, our devoted solidarity campaigners gathered around their local food store to protest against gefilte fish made in Israel.

Israel settlers desecrate Joseph Tomb in West Bank

At least 1,000 illegal settlers, accompanied by Israeli military soldiers, have stormed Joseph's Tomb on the outskirts of Nablus, desecrating the site venerated by Jews, Christians and Muslims.

Palestinian security sources and local residents said the settlers arrived at the site on board a number of buses early on Thursday, and broke into the tomb amid protection by Israeli troopers, Arabic-language Palestine al-Yawm news agency reported.

Israeli forces also deployed several military vehicles on the streets leading to Joseph's Tomb to prevent any potential confrontation between Palestinians and the settlers, who were purportedly uttering prayers from the Talmud.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The good news is that nobody actually knows whose tomb that really was. After Constantine declared Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire, his mother, Empress Helena (now Saint Helen), toured the holy lands "identifying" sacred sites and building churches on them. Helena even claimed to have found the true cross and resurrected a dead corpse with it (to prove it was the real thing). But Helena's choices for holy sites were driven less by archaeology and more by wishing to erase the existing edifices of competing religions, and scholars admit that in many if not most cases, there is no actual proof that these holy sites are what Helena declared them to be.

Figures collated by the U.N.'s office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs (OCHA), which operates in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, show that from an average of 50 demolitions a month in 2012-2015, the average has risen to 165 a month since January, with 235 demolitions in February alone.

Palestinian on the run from Israeli soldiers for a week — is 12 years old

The father of a 12-year-old Palestinian boy on the run for a week from Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank has told Middle East Eye that he fears his son will be killed if caught. Ramzi Abu Ajamia has been in hiding for the past seven nights, the boy’s father, Nasir Abu Ajamia said from their family home in Bethlehem’s Dheisha refugee camp. Israeli forces first showed up at the family’s home on 24 March, raiding the house and detaining Ramzi’s older brother. Ramzi said he had no idea why Israel was seeking to detain him. He says he attended protests against Israeli occupation, where rocks were thrown. “I don’t go to the clashes outside of the camp, but when soldiers come to us inside the camp, yeah I go out with the other boys – but that’s it – only when they come to us,” he said, speaking to MEE during a furtive visit to the family home. “I can’t explain why they want me, other than it’s my turn. "As Palestinians Mark Land Day, Israeli Illegally Controls More Than 85% of the total area of historical land of Palestine

Israeli Occupation Authorities laid hand over more than 85% of the total area of historical land of Palestine which totals about 27,000 km2. Arabs comprise 48% of the total population but utilize only 15% of the land.

Israeli Occupation also set up a buffer zone along the border of the Gaza Strip extending over 1,500 m along the eastern border.

Consequently, the zone usurps about 24% of the total area of the Gaza Strip (365 km²), which is one of the most densely populated area in the world with about 5,000 capita/km².

Furthermore, Israeli Occupation maintains tight control over more than 90% of the area of the Jordan Valley, which constitutes 29% of the total area of the West Bank.

The Ultimate Trial of Israeli Society

Last Thursday, March 24th, an Israel defense force (IDF) soldier was filmed executing a wounded Palestinian man alleged to have carried out a stabbing attack against IDF soldiers in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood of Hebron. The videographer responsible for the filming is Imad Abu Shamsiya, a Palestinian shoemaker who has since received death threats and intimidation from extreme right-wing Israeli settlers with the prospect of a potential lawsuit. Though the incident is part of a wave of extrajudicial killings of Palestinians carried out by Israeli soldiers, this particular case is different. Here, the film unambiguously shows that the wounded Palestinian man did not present a danger to his surrounding. Quite shockingly, not only does the film implicate the executioner; it also shows his IDF comrades as completely unfazed by the incident, including medical personnel.

President Trump? Who’s Who in Trump’s Foreign Policy Inner Circle? US War Machine Rolls On

First up for scrutiny is Walid Phares, perhaps the most well known of Trump’s foreign policy team. Phares is a regular commentator on FOX News where he generally espouses more or less the same policies as any typical Washington neoconservative. Indeed, his pedigree and history place him squarely in the aggressive neocon camp, including as one of the main advisers (along with notable neocons Robert Kagan, Eliot Cohen, Eric Edelman, et al) to Mitt Romney in his failed 2012 presidential campaign.

Phares spent a decade as a Senior Fellow at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD), a well known neoconservative think tank long since understood as pro-Israel, and widely regarded as part of the influential Israel Lobby. In fact, FDD president and founder Clifford May described the group’s mission as being “to enhance Israel’s image in North America and the public’s understanding of issues affecting Israeli-Arab relations.”

To that end, Phares has long-standing ties, both professionally and ideologically, with Israel and the hardliner policies of Tel Aviv.

On 21 March, Israeli authorities began notifying Palestinian residents of the Nablus-area villages of al-Sawiya, al-Lubban al-Sharqiya and Qaryout that their land would be declared “state land” and become part of the Israeli settlement Eli.

‘IDF soldier’s penalty for shooting Palestinian? Probable reprimand for letting himself be filmed'

The more Palestinians react the more the Israelis feel they are justified in taking extremely repressive action. But the whole purpose for such action is ethnic cleansing, Paul Larudee from Free Palestine Movement told RT.

An Israeli soldier shot and killed a motionless and injured Palestinian after an alleged stabbing attempt in the West Bank. The shooting took place Thursday and was captured on video by a human rights activist.

Criticism of IDF ‘outrageous’ – Netanyahu after soldier finishes off wounded Palestinian stabber

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has spoken out against any criticism of the Israeli Defense Force (IDF), despite the outrage over footage that emerged of an IDF soldier seemingly executing a prone and wounded Palestinian attacker.

Israelis rally around soldier filmed executing injured Palestinian

A new video shows an Israeli soldier shaking hands with a settler leader just after the soldier was filmed apparently executing an injured Palestinian in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.

The video has emerged as Israelis, including top leaders, are rallying around the accused killer.

Abd al-Fattah Yusri al-Sharif was shot dead along with Ramzi Aziz al-Qasrawi, both of them 21 years old, after allegedly stabbing and moderately wounding a soldier in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood of Hebron’s Old City on Thursday.

The slaying of al-Sharif, who was lying on the ground incapacitated but moving his head before he was shot, was caught on video.

The new video shows the shooter “shaking hands with far-right activist Baruch Marzel” while al-Sharif’s body is removed from the scene, according to Haaretz.

The US-born Marzel, a former leader of the violent group Kach, is notorious for fomenting attacks on Palestinians.

During Purim celebration, Israeli settlers use Ibrahimi Mosque loudspeaker to sing racist songs and call for expulsion of ‘Arabs’ from Hebron

Hundreds of Israelis, including large numbers of settlers, converged on religious sites across the occupied West Bank on Wednesday morning ahead of the Jewish holiday of Purim, in visits Palestinians condemned as “provocative.” In the southern West Bank city of Hebron, Israeli settlers as well as other right-wing Israelis held celebrations in the Old City’s Ibrahimi Mosque .Locals told Ma‘an that during the celebrations, which began late Tuesday, the settlers “provocatively” used the mosque’s loudspeakers “to sing racist songs that call for the expulsion of ‘Arabs’ from Hebron.” The settlers were under the heavy protection of Israeli forces, who closed off the premises, preventing Palestinians from entering the mosque, and restricted access to the surrounding area. Some Israeli media sites reported that as many 7,000 Israelis celebrated at the holy site, known to Jews as the Tomb of the Patriarchs. . .

Israel - Map Censorship

What is the difference between a textbook publisher giving into pressure from Christian fundamentalists seeking to censor the teaching of evolution, and a publisher giving in to Zionists seeking to censor awareness of the ethnic cleansing of Palestine? Neither phenomenon is a matter of opinion or perspective. One act of censorship denies facts established by scientific research. The other denies the documented violation of international law (for instance, the Fourth Geneva Convention) and multiple UN resolutions. So the answer to the question just asked is – there is no difference.

Boycotting Israel is a free speech right

Israel’s current government, its most racist ever, has dropped all pretenses of “enlightenment” and “democracy.”

This has helped to expose Israel’s regime of occupation, settler colonialism and apartheid to world public opinion like never before. In this context, and given the fast spread of BDS in recent years, Israel has tried hard but failed to slow down its gradually intensifying international isolation in the academic, cultural, sports and, to a lesser extent, economic spheres.

As a result, Israel, its lobby groups and its right-wing supporters have launched an unprecedented, well-funded global campaign to silence Palestinian narratives and criminalize BDS advocacy, especially in Western countries.

EU says Israeli land seizure threatens peace process

A seizure of land by Israel in the West Bank raises questions about its commitment to a two-state solution to end the conflict with the Palestinians, the European Union said in a statement on Thursday.

Echoing remarks this week by Germany and France, the EU's foreign policy service issued a rare statement directly criticizing Israel for its appropriation of 579 acres (234 hectares) near Jericho.

"Israel's decision ... is a further step that risks undermining the viability of a future Palestinian state and therefore calls into question Israel's commitment to a two-state solution," the EU said in a statement.

"Any decision that could enable further settlement expansion, which is illegal under international law and an obstacle to peace, will only drive the parties to the conflict even further apart," the EU said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dear EU: I am having a palm to forehead moment, at warp speed, at your magnificent grasp of the obvious.

Do you not understand that Israel does not want peace, but territory, and by any means necessary?!? Has that assessment not collectively dawned upon you?!?

As reported at antiwar.com on 15 March 2016:

Israel announced on Army Radio today that they have “appropriated” a large tract of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank, confiscating some 579 acres (2.3 square kilometers), which NGO Peace Now referred to as the largest single confiscation of territory in years. The territory seized is near the Palestinian city of Jericho, and is reportedly slated to be used in the expansion of Jewish settlements in the area, to further prevent the potential of forming a contiguous Palestinian state in the future.

This land grab means that now, there can be no contiguous state of Palestine, period, end of discussion.

What part of this are you having a difficult time to understand?!? The Israeli government will collectively relieve itself in your faces and tell you it's raining, say they want peace, and then haul deliberately haul off and do something like this.

It's a pattern that is almost pathological in the Israeli government's way of doing things.

And remember, for the Eretz-Israel crowd, the country of Israel has the right to all territories from the Nile to the Euphrates. Please think about what that means, in terms of the structural integrity of the region.

The Thirteenth Tribe

However, numerous historians have looked into this issue and discovered that most of these Zionist Jews are not descendants of the original Jews. Rather, most Zionists are " Jews"; a race of people who were known as the Khazars a thousand years ago, The real, original Jews were physically and genetically similar to the Arabs, specifically, dark skin, dark eyes, and dark hair. The Hebrew and Arabic languages have a lot of similarities, also.

The real homeland for the white, Ashkenazi Jews is near the Caspian and Black Seas, not Palestine. Their ancestors picked up the Jewish religion about 900A.D.. Due to the widespread ignorance of people in that era, after a few generations they assumed that they were the descendants of the Jews who lived in Palestine.

McGraw-Hill destroys textbook to placate pro-Israel bloggers

The publisher McGraw-Hill Education is destroying all copies of a political science textbook after receiving complaints from hardline supporters of Israel that it features a series of “anti-Israel” maps.

The college textbook, titled Global Politics: Engaging a Complex World, was published in 2012. But it wasn’t until early this month that the maps generated criticism from a pro-Israel blogger known as Elder of Ziyon.

5 of the Most Appalling Acts of Incitement From Israel This Week: Major Poll Shows Racism in Israel Is Far from Fringe

On March 8, the Pew Research Center published the results of itspremier poll of Jewish-Israeli society, confirming in concrete numbers what analysts have long sensed from anecdotal evidence: the vast majority of Jewish citizens want Israel to treat them better than it treats its non-Jewish citizens, and about half want the state not to have any non-Jewish citizens altogether.

Why BDS Cannot Lose: A Moral Threshold to Combat Racism in Israel

snip: “The whole world is against us,” is quite a common justification in Israel itself, of the international reaction to Israel’s Apartheid practices. With time, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy and feeds on past notions that are no longer applicable. No matter how many companies divest from Israel – the latest being the world’s largest security corporation G4S – and, no matter how many universities and churches vote to boycott Israel, Israeli society remains entrenched behind the slogan and its disconcerting sense of victimization.

Many Israelis believe that their country is a ‘villa in a jungle’ – a notion that is constantly enforced by top Israeli leaders. Right-wing Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is purposely advancing the crippling fear in his own society. Unable to see the unmistakable crimes he has carried out against Palestinians for years, he continues to perpetuate the idea of the purity of Israel and the wickedness of everyone else.

Does Congress Represent American Citizens or Israeli Settlers?

1. Congress comprises the House of Representatives with 435 members plus 100 members in the Senate. So altogether Congress has 535 voting members. The US Constitution provides that in the majority of foreign policy decisions, and also in domestic legislation, any decision or proposal by the elected president, or the White House, must be ratified by Congress otherwise it cannot proceed. The foregoing is not in dispute.

2. AIPAC the American Israel lobby, aka the American Zionist Committee, has a reported 100,000 members across the United States plus the support of some 50 million, or so, Evangelicals, otherwise known as Christian Zionists, in the Bible Belt of Middle America. They represent between 16 to 20% of the US electorate. Put another way, about 80% of Americans are not members of AIPAC or any other Zionist organisation.

Israeli Chief Rabbi to Troops: Ignore Courts, Commander, Just Kill Armed Palestinians

Amid ongoing condemnation of Israeli Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, who last month publicly declared “I don’t want a soldier to empty a magazine on a girl with scissors,” Israel’s chief Sephardic Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef urged soldiers to ignore the Army Chief’s orders, as well as court rulings, and just kill any “armed Palestinians” they find.

Yosef argued that it was a religious imperative for all Jews to kill armed enemies and to be unconcerned with the rulings of the High Court or other officials, urging that the killings would serve as a deterrent.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What about the unarmed Palestinians, Rabbi?!? What about women, children, and the medical fragile elderly?!?

The message you are sending to your followers does very much remind me of the statement made by Arnald-Amalric at the siege of Montsegur, who, upon hearing that there were woman and children in the besieged fortress, commanded the Pope's army to "Kill them all, God will find his own."

Will you take any moral responsibility when one of your followers, empowered and energized by your statements, decides to firebomb a Palestinian home, only killing innocent women and children?!?

Or, Rabbi, have you come to see all Palestinians as "the enemy", to be treated with the same genocidal frenzy with which Hitler treated the Jews in World War II?!?

Sir, I sincerely and respectfully ask you to think this approach through; it will create even more suffering for both Israeli Jews and the Palestinians, and continue to make a mockery of the Israeli judicial system.

Aid money to Palestine ends up benefiting the Israeli economy, and may even help perpetuate the occupation, according to an analysis published last year. Published by Aid Watch Palestine, a Palestinian NGO that scrutinizes the spending of foreign relief money, the September 2015 study by Shir Hever suggests that at least 72 percent of foreign aid actually ends up back in Israeli hands. Palestine’s economy is dependent on foreign aid, although foreign nations sometimes pledge more than they actually give. The World Bank reported that of $3.5 billion pledged to Palestine in 2015, “only 35 percent has been disbursed, $881 million less than what was supposed to be disbursed so far” by September.

In Alliance with Al-Qaida, Israel Is Stealing Syria’s Oil

The 1907 Hague Regulations, a cornerstone of international law, state that an occupying power must “safeguard the capital of these properties.” Stealing resources from an occupied territory constitutes the crime of pillage.

But in December 2011, Israel’s high court ruled that Israel’s occupation is unique and not bound by the laws against pillage.

Israeli Chief Rabbi to Troops: Ignore Courts, Commander, Just Kill Armed Palestinians

Amid ongoing condemnation of Israeli Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, who last month publicly declared “I don’t want a soldier to empty a magazine on a girl with scissors,” Israel’s chief Sepherdic Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef urged soldiers to ignore the Army Chief’s orders, as well as court rulings, and just kill any “armed Palestinians” they find.

"The Jews, I find, are very, very selfish. They care not how many Estonians, Latvians, Finns, Poles, Yugoslavs or Greeks get murdered or mistreated as Displaced Persons as long as the Jews get special treatment. Yet when they have power, physical, financial or political neither Hitler nor Stalin has anything on them for cruelty or mistreatment to the under dog." -- Harry Truman, 1947, private diaries

Israel’s generals and their troubled relationship with the elected cabinet

ALL is not well between Israel’s cabinet and the generals who supposedly report to them. Major-General Herzl Halevi arrived at the Knesset on February 23rd for what was planned as a routine briefing for members of the defence committee of Israel’s parliament. Instead, the chief of military intelligence delivered a stark warning.

Bill would block businesses that boycott Israel

Arizona lawmakers are wading into the hot-button area of international politics with legislation to bar state and local governments from doing business with any firm that won’t do business with Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So let me see if I have this right. According to the media, the rioters in Chicago who destroyed property, injured Trump supporters and police) and blocked ambulances carrying the wounded, are merely exercising their right to free expression, but the Arizona legislature thinks that anyone who supports a boycott of Israel for their continued theft of the Palestinians' land needs to be punished. If that doesn't tell the voters of Arizona that their state government are bought by Israel, nothing will!
