THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"We moved, on the next day, crossing in our path a deep creek and the Little Seneca river, and after marching six miles we reached the castle, which consisted of 128 houses, mostly very large and elegant. The town was beautifully situated, almost encircled with a clear flat which extends for a number of miles, where the most extensive fields of corn were, and every kind of vegetable that can be conceived. The whole army was immediately engaged in destroying the crops. The corn was collected and burned in houses and kilns, that the enemy might not reap the least advantage from it, which method we have pursued in every other place... Every creek and river has been traced, and the whole country explored in search of Indian settlements; and I am well persuaded, that, except one... there is not a single town left in the country of the five nations." -- General John Sullivan 1779

DOJ Forfeiture Directive Gives Local Law Enforcement A Chance To Dodge State Reform Efforts

As threatened during comments to an association of district attorneys, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is bringing back asset forfeiture. Specifically, Sessions is loosening the restrictions placed on federal adoption of local seizures by Eric Holder during the last years of the Obama presidency. Holder's directive prevented local agencies from routing cash or vehicle seizures through the feds to dodge local rules. That's all over now. An order [PDF] and directive [PDF] issued by the DOJ are welcoming local law enforcement agencies to once again skirt restrictive state forfeiture laws by asking the DOJ to "adopt" their seizures.

Wasserman Schultz to allow laptop scan after months of stonewalling in IT probe

The former head of the Democratic Party who lost her post in the fallout from a massive email breach is expected to start cooperating with federal investigators in a separate cybersecurity case, after months of apparent stonewalling.

Fox News has learned that Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz plans to allow federal investigators to scan a laptop belonging to her as part of a complex probe into allegations of computer theft, over-billing and possible email hacking.

U.S. Capitol Police have had the laptop for months and until now had been unable to get access. It's unclear why the Florida lawmaker and ousted Democratic National Committee chairwoman had been battling law enforcement over the computer; however, her counsel began negotiating this week with Capitol Police in connection with the probe.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The steady drip, drip, drip of the corruption of the Clintonistas is about to turn into a floodgate.

But were I Wasserman Schultz, I would definitely have my Kevlar undies on, and not get into small aircraft at this time.

Over 900 Palestinians Wounded in Al-Aqsa ClashesTEHRAN (FNA)- Hundreds of Palestinians were wounded in confrontations with Israeli forces many

Hundreds of Palestinians were wounded in confrontations with Israeli forces many by rubber-coated bullets since violence erupted over al-Aqsa restrictions on July 14.
Palestinian hospitals are facing a large influx of patients as clashes sparked by new security measures at the highly sensitive al-Aqsa mosque compound continue, New Arab reported.

More than two dozen Palestinians were wounded in fresh clashes on Sunday night, 21 people were injured at Bab Al-Asbat (Lion's Gate), outside al-Aqsa, 15 of them shot with rubber-coated bullets, reported the Palestinian Red Crescent.

There were also clashes at the Qalandiya checkpoint, located between Jerusalem and Ramallah, where ten people were injured.

Three people were shot by rubber bullets, six suffered from tear gas inhalation, and one person from a fall, the Red Crescent said.

International human rights groups have long condemned Israel's use of such bullets.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Take a good hard look at the face of the child at the top of this article; he's just a kid, for heaven's sake, and see how terrified he is (and for good reason).

What in the name of heaven did he do, that the Israelis piled on him like this?!? For the "crimes" of being Palestinian, and still breathing?!?!?

This child knows that any confrontation with Israeli police, or the IDF, can result in instant death, or maiming for life.

Real humans vs. fake ones

Grass now grows over the grave of the 9/11 hoax with the false version of history indelibly etched in the minds of today’s schoolchildren, much in the same way the false version of World War II was drilled into the minds of gullible Americans after the ritual obliteration of German culture by the combined forces of international Jewry more than a half century ago.

Two decades after that, the devil spawned a new religion that taught us to worship a bloody lie of twisted history in the Holocaust that never was, just like the phony 9/11 demolition story a half century later was the warped expression of how America’s so-called leaders actually felt about their own people when they sacrificed 3,000 of them and millions more of others on their bleeding altar of perpetual war.

Fools and liars. The world’s population can be divided into these two groups. Victims and criminals might be a better description.

On Fighting Inequality, Which Nations Do More Than Pay Lip Service?

Two years ago, in 2015, just about all the nations in the world came together and agreed to make reducing inequality — the gap between rich and poor — a prime United Nations “sustainable development goal.”

A noble gesture. But UN groups make noble gestures all the time. These gestures do sometimes translate into real progress. They more typically amount to blowing smoke — and obscuring how little progress governments may actually be making.

British, Turkish warships arrive in Ukraine for NATO Black Sea drills

A British missile destroyer and a Turkish frigate have docked at the port of Odessa in Ukraine for a joint NATO maritime exercise, which comes just a week after the bloc’s massive Sea Breeze war games took place off the same shore.
The Royal Navy’s ‘HMS Duncan’ and the Turkish Navy frigate ‘Yildirim’ moored in the Black Sea port of Odessa on Monday, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry wrote on its website. Both ships, which belong to NATO Standing Maritime Group 2 (NSMG2) covering the Mediterranean, are expected to remain in Ukrainian waters until July 27.

“The program of the ships’ visit includes a joint exercise with the Ukrainian Navy to train mid-sea survival skills as well as surveillance operations,” the press release said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These nearly round the clock, NATO exercises in Europe and beyond, seem to indicate to me that something wicked this way comes, in terms of a potential military attack against Russia.

Unfortunately, just because something would be the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly thing for NATO and the US government to do, is no guarantee that they will not do it.

The demonisation of Russia continues, absolutely fact-free of any genuine Russian threat against the US or NATO.

Sweden to hold ‘biggest military exercise in decades’ with NATO amid fears over Russia

Sweden is preparing to hold what it calls the “first and largest” exercise of its kind in over 20 years involving all of its military branches as well as troops from several NATO countries, to boost its deterrence capabilities, the Swedish military said.
The exercise, Aurora 17, which is scheduled for September, is designed to strengthen Sweden’s defense capabilities and create a “credible and visible” deterrent that would force any potential enemies “to carefully consider the risks of attacking our country,” the Swedish Armed Forces said in statement.

Some 19,000 soldiers from all military branches are expected to participate in the exercise, which will be conducted in the air, on land and at sea. The major training areas will be in the southeastern Stockholm-Maelaren region and the Gothenburg area, as well as on and around the island of Gotland, not far from the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is completely senseless, unabashed propaganda; why in the name of heaven would Russia want to invade Sweden, when all Russia wants right now is trade and peace?!?

Lesson for America: New Iraq-Iran Defense Deal Shows Regime Change Doesn't Pay

The recent agreement signed by Iraq and Iran on military cooperation should serve as a lesson to the US that regime change doesn't pay, Dr. Foad Izadi, Assistant Professor with the Faculty of World Studies at the University of Tehran, told Radio Sputnik.

Iraq and Iran have agreed to boost bilateral military cooperation in several areas, including anti-terrorism and the fight against extremism. Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan and his Iraqi counterpart Erfan al-Hiyali signed the memorandum of understanding on defense in Tehran on Sunday, Iranian news agency IRNA reported.

"Extending cooperation and exchanging experiences in fighting terrorism and extremism, border security, and educational, logistical, technical and military support are among the provisions of this memorandum," IRNA reported.

The agreement is bad news for the US, which is opposed to Iranian influence in Iraq and had been planning on expanding its own military facilities in Iraq and Syria.

'I wish I could get President Trump to see this': Fairground becomes a makeshift hospital 'like you'd expect to see in Sudan' to deal with the US health care crisis as officials grumble over Obamacare

Hundreds of desperate patients, some in their 90s, traveled miles to be seen to by doctors offering free care.

Medical staff used animal stalls, articulated lorries and barns to carry out health examinations and treatment.

Pictures show rows of people lying in beds being treated by doctors walking on dirty tarmac in Wise, Virginia.

Charity workers said the scenes were like something they would expect to see in South Sudan or Haiti.

President Trump has been urged to visit a country fairground in Virginia which has become a makeshift hospital to deal with the US health care crisis.
As Republican officials continue to grumble over Obamacare, the reality on the ground is stark - people camping overnight to be first in line for free treatment at a pop-up outdoor medical center.

Violence Flares In Venezuela As Opposition Calls For New Strike - Mac Slavo

Venezuela’s socialist government opposition called for a two-day national strike against President Nicolas Maduro after another day of violent clashes on Saturday where the injured included a violinist famous for his musical protests.

Wuilly Arteaga, the 23-year-old has become famous for playing the national anthem on his violin in front of security lines as battles rage around him, has been injured in the fight for freedom against Venezuela’s socialist regime. Paramedics attended Arteaga in the street as blood poured down his face. He later tweeted a video from the hospital with a bandaged face and clutching his violin. “Neither rubber bullets nor pellets will stop our fight,” said Arteaga. “Tomorrow I will be back in the streets.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question now is, not if Maduro and his government fall, but when.

“The Cartel Has Completely Devastated The Metals Market… Causing Serious Problems In Other Minerals Outside Of Precious Metals” - Mac Slavo

ith the world seemingly in economic and geo-political shambles, those concerned with the real possibility of collapse continue to position themselves in precious metals. As highlighted by SGT Report in the five-minute metals update below, physical acquisition of gold and silver continues unabated, with Silver Eagles once again hitting month-over-month sales records in July. Moreover, the supply of gold appears to be dwindling. Coupled with heavy investment demand, this suggests that prices may soon jump to the upside as investors continue to shift into the asset class of last resort and larger gold and silver mining companies move to lock in physical assets through junior mining acquisitions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF you can purchase gold or silver, now would be a good time to do it; these moves are telegraphing that people are expecting some kind of a shock in the financial and stock markets, and not in the too distant future, either.

A Mystery Investor Just Made A $262 Million Bet That The Stock Market Will Crash By October

One mystery trader has made an extremely large bet that the stock market is going to crash by October, and if he is right he could potentially make up to 262 million dollars on the deal. Fortunes were made and lost during the great financial crisis of 2008, and the same thing will happen again the next time we see a major stock market crash. But will that stock market crash take place before 2017 is over? Without a doubt, we are in the midst of one of the largest stock market bubbles in U.S. history, and many prominent investors are loudly warning of an imminent stock market collapse. It doesn’t take a genius to see that this stock market bubble is going to end very badly just like all of the other stock market bubbles throughout history have, but if you could know the precise timing that it will end you could set yourself up financially for the rest of your life.

Palestinian leader halts security co-operation with Israel over mosque dispute

Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas has said he had halted security cooperation with Israel after authorities refused to remove metal detectors at the entrance to al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, raising fears of an escalation of violence.

The halt came after a bloody weekend in which three Israelis were murdered by a Palestinian in a West Bank settlement and four Palestinian protesters were killed by Israeli forces, in some of the worst violence in recent years.

The Palestinian attacker, Omar al-Abed, wrote on his Facebook before the attack that he wanted to “die for al-Aqsa”.

"Worse Than People Can Imagine" - Deutsche Bank To Shift $350 Billion Of Assets From London To Frankfurt

In a project dubbed 'Bowline', Bloomberg reports that Deutsche Bank may shift about 300 billion euros ($350 billion) from the balance sheet of its U.K. entity to Frankfurt as client trading and assets migrate to the continent following Britain’s decision to leave the European Union. While not the first bank to threaten to move post-Brexit, the scale of asset movement is the largest yet.

Deutsche Bank’s balance sheet listed 1.59 trillion euros in total assets at the end of last yea and much of its trading in Europe is traditionally booked in London. But, as Bloomberg reports, the Brexit-contingency project calls for Frankfurt trading to go live in September 2018 and for the balance sheet migration to be completed by March 2019, said the person, who asked for anonymity in discussing internal matters.

EU "Sounds Alarm" Over New US Sanctions On Russia; Germany Threatens Retaliation

Late on Friday, Congressional negotiators reached a deal to advance a bill that would punish Russia for its interference in the 2016 election and restrict the president’s power to remove sanctions on Moscow, according to the WSJ. The measure, if signed into law, will also give Congress veto powers to block any easing of Russian sanctions by the president. And while it remained unclear if President Donald Trump would sign the bill if it reaches his desk, which is now likely, the loudest complaint about the bill to date has emerged noe from the Oval Office, but from Brussels, after the EU once again urged (and warned, and threatened) US lawmakers to coordinate their anti-Russia actions with European partners, or else.

An internal memo seen by the Financial Times and Politico has emerged amid mounting opposition to a US bill seeking to hit Russia with a new round of sanctions. The bill, if signed into law, will also give US lawmakers the power to veto any attempt by the president to lift the sanctions.

Statin drugs exposed as a MEDICAL SHAM as new research finds “no evidence” of improved survival

Dr. Esther van Zuuren, a senior researcher from Leiden University, said: “It’s time we look at the evidence and stop letting the pharmaceutical companies and food industry pull the wool over our eyes.”

Not only do these drugs not help those who have had a heart attack, but they also fail to provide benefits when used as a preventive measure.

When Will America’s Crime Spree in Afghanistan End? “Punitive Raids” under the Cloak of “Humanitarian” Warfare

At the beginning of the year The Intercept published a lengthy article straightforwardly titled “The Crimes of the SEAL Team 6.” The article tells little about the heroism or professionalism of the servicemen of the American special forces unit SEAL Team 6, which Hollywood and bestselling authors are so fond of. The Intercept took the courage to investigate the darker side of war – crimes that are being routinely committed by US servicemen. The investigation into SEAL Team 6 was conducted for two years and included 18 interviews with former and current soldiers and officers of the unit. The Intercept article is somewhat reminiscent of The New York Times piece on the same topic published back in 2015.

The last couple of weeks have seen daily demonstrations and confrontations between Israeli forces and Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Tensions have risen in occupied East Jerusalem's Old City after Israel shut down al-Aqsa Mosque compound for the first time since 1969, after a deadly gun battle between Palestinian citizens of Israel and Israeli forces.

The attack, which took place on July 14, ended in the deaths of two Israeli police officers and three Palestinian attackers. VATICAN IN AWE: 1500 YEAR OLD BIBLE CONFIRMS THAT JESUS CHRIST WAS NOT CRUCIFIED

Much to the dismay of the Vatican, an approx. 1500-2000 year old bible was found in Turkey, in the Ethnography Museum of Ankara. Discovered and kept secret in the year 2000, the book contains the Gospel of Barnabas – a disciple of Christ – which shows that Jesus was not crucified, nor was he the son of God, but a Prophet. The book also calls Apostle Paul “The Impostor”. The book also claims that Jesus ascended to heaven alive, and that Judas Iscariot was crucified in his place.

A report by The National Turk says that the Bible was seized from a gang of smugglers in a Mediterranean-area operation. The report states the gang was charged with smuggling antiquities, illegal excavations, and the possession of explosives. The books itself is valued as high as 40 Million Turkish Liras (approx. 28 mil. Dollars).

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – JULY 24, 2017: SYRIAN ARMY MADE LARGE GAINS IN RAQQAH PROVINCE

US worried as Iran, Iraq forge close security ties

Iraq, fresh from liberating Mosul in its most serious blow to Takfiri terrorists, is reaching out to Iran which, according to most senior Iraqi officials, prevented Baghdad from falling to Daesh.

Hundreds Died in Rohingya Camps on Thai-Malaysia Border

More details have emerged about Thailand’s ugly trade in people now that a marathon trial has ended in Bangkok with 62 people convicted of human trafficking and other serious crimes.

Camps set up by traffickers in the jungle on the Thai-Malaysian border to hold Rohingya and other ‘boat people’ existed for many years prior to government crackdown in mid-2015 that curtailed the brutal trade, a key activist group has said.

Freeland, a Bangkok-based non-government group that fights wildlife trafficking and human slavery, worked with Thai police to identify key figures in the smuggling networks that were rounded up and put on trial.

Strip-Mining The World

A gigantic mine engages in every conceivable destructive practice—strip mining, heap leaching, tailings dams and ponds and so on. It pays such low wages its workers only make ends meet by borrowing from the company at usurious rates. The mine has befouled the air and poisoned the water. Many workers are chronically sick and their children are afflicted with birth defects. The mine’s absentee owners know that the mine is played out and the tailings dam is structurally unsound. They close the mine, count their profits, and move on. A month later the dam gives way. A deluge of noxious sludge inundates the town below the dam, sparing no one and rendering the area uninhabitable.

The government is a strip mining operation, plundering the dwindling residual value of a once wealthy America. Forget ostensible justifications, policy is crafted to allow those who control the government to maximize their take and put the costs on their victims, leaving devastation in their wake.

Enraged worshipers again confront police near Temple Mount

In yet another display of violence over Temple Mount metal detectors, Muslim worshipers conclude prayers outside the compound by clashing with Israeli security forces: 'We'll continue to be here until the death, even if you shoot us.'

Webmaster's Commentary:

It isn't the metal detectors. Israel has banned everyone under the age of fifty from entering.

Israeli settlers storm al-Aqsa compound amid flare-up

Israeli settlers have stormed the al-Aqsa Mosque compound under the heavy escort of security forces at a time of boiling tensions over Tel Aviv's siege of Islam's third holiest site.

Footage circulated across social media on Monday showed the Israelis ambling around comfortably at the sensitive place as Palestinian worshipers squatted outside the compound.

Israeli forces also dispersed protesters staging a sit-in protest in front of the metal detectors the regime has set up at the entrance to restrict Palestinian access.

Those participating in the sit-in include staffers of the al-Quds Islamic Waqf (Endowment) organization, which is trusted with controlling and managing the Islamic edifices on and around the compound. Israel evicted the staffers as part of its crackdown, and now the body says it has been fully incapacitated in exercising its duties.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have to wonder; is Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu willing to risk a regional war by these activities, in order to take the heat off renewed inquiry into a corruption case that may lead right back to his office?!?

As reported 12 July, 2017, at theguardian.co.uk:

Netanyahu's lawyer being held in submarine corruption deal inquiry

I would suggest that timing, on the part of those in the bowels of national and international politics, is rarely "accidental", and that these actions against Muslim worshipers at Al Aqsa, are perhaps to deflect the "heat" away from a potential indictment, which may stain Netanyahu himself, and destroy his political career forever.

Massive Int’l Network of 87,000 Pedophiles Dismantled — American Mass Media Silent

The largely unrecognized global pandemic of child pornography has once again been thrust into the glare of the public spotlight after a massive child porn network with over 87,000 members was dismantled by German police.

A web platform called “Elysium” was utilized by the pedophile network, which existed since the end of 2016 and was accessible only through the Darknet, a hidden part of the Internet uncatalogued by search engines. The site was used to facilitate the exchange of videos and images of children, as young as toddler age, being physically and sexually abused.

Israel Has Harvested 18,000 organs From Dead Syrians Since The Beginning Of The War

The Damascus university medical doctor heading Medical Forensics department Dr. Hussein Nofal estimates that at least 18,000 Syrians have had organs removed during the war thus far. Since the outbreak of war in 2012, 6.5 million people have been displaced within Syria and another 4.8 million have become refugees forced to flee to neighboring countries like Turkey and Lebanon or 10% have migrated to Europe. With another 386,000 estimated dead, that's 11.7 million humans in Syria who have violently lost their lives or homes - stunningly over half the total prewar population of 22 million Syrians.

How Schooling Crushes Creativity

In 2006, educator and author Ken Robinson gave a TED Talk called, “Do Schools Kill Creativity?” At over 45 million views, it remains the most viewed talk in TED’s history.

Robinson’s premise is simple: our current education system strips young people of their natural creativity and curiosity by shaping them into a one-dimensional academic mold. This mold may work for some of us, particularly, as he states, if we want to become university professors; but for many of us, our innate abilities and sprouting passions are at best ignored and at worst destroyed by modern schooling.

In his TED Talk, Robinson concludes:

BREAKING: 2 Chinese jets intercept US spy plane near Chinese territory

A pair of Chinese fighter jets intercepted a US Navy spy plane over the East China Sea on Sunday, with one coming within about 300 feet (91 meters) of an American aircraft, two US officials told Reuters on Monday.

The US officials, who are remaining anonymous, said the initial reports showed one of the Chinese J-10 aircraft came close enough to US EP-3 plane on Sunday, that the American aircraft was forced to change direction. One of the Chinese J-10 jets flew under the American EP-3 jet and maneuvered suddenly, popping up 300 feet in front of the U.S. plane and causing “the [US] EP-3 to take evasive action to avoid collision,” one official said.

Israel said set to replace Temple Mount metal detectors with fenced access paths

Israel is set to remove the metal detector gates it deployed at the entrances to the Temple Mount compound in Jerusalem’s Old City, and instead will on Sunday introduce different security measures, involving access for Muslim worshipers via narrow, fenced-off routes, an Israeli TV report said Saturday night.

The metal detector gates, installed after three Arab Israelis shot dead two Israeli police officers outside the compound on July 14 using guns they had smuggled into the holy site, have prompted escalating Muslim protests. Worshipers have refused to go through them, and clashes with police in and around Jerusalem have been escalating daily, with three Palestinians killed on Friday. Later Friday, a Palestinian terrorist stabbed to death three Israelis at their Shabbat dinner table in the West Bank settlement of Halamish.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The way these fenced off, narrow gates are described kind of reminds me of herding cattle toward their ultimate slaughter, and appears to have been engineered to spark greater unrest from Muslim worshipers at the Al Aqsa Mosque, which is precisely why Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu has signed off on it.

And, as reported at dw.com over the weekend:

Israel playing with Fire with Palestinians in Jerusalem Temple Mount, warns Arab League

I believe that the Israeli government is setting the stage for a complete Israeli takeover of the mosque; the destruction of the mosque proper; and the rebuilding of the Third Jewish temple on this site (the location of the first and second temples), as in Jewish belief, such construction is supposed to usher in the Messianic era.

Such an act by the Israeli government may well set the entire Middle East on fire, and spark a regional war.

Last week the Iraqi government announced that Mosul has been ‘liberated ‘ from the control of ISIS. Civilian casualties have been substantial. Amnesty International estimates that there were nearly 6000 civilians killed between February and June 2017 alone, as a result of the coalition attacks. This figure excludes the mass bombardment of the past few weeks.

NSA Officials and Computer Expert: Forensic Evidence Proves DNC Emails Were LEAKED, Not Hacked

Forensic studies of “Russian hacking” into Democratic National Committee computers last year reveal that on July 5, 2017, data was leaked (not hacked) by a person with physical access to DNC computers, and then doctored to incriminate Russia.

After examining metadata from the “Guccifer 2.0” July 5, 2016 intrusion into the DNC server, independent cyber investigators have concluded that an insider copied DNC data onto an external storage device, and that “telltale signs” implicating Russia were then inserted.

Key among the findings of the independent forensic investigations is the conclusion that the DNC data was copied onto a storage device at a speed that far exceeds an Internet capability for a remote hack. Of equal importance, the forensics show that the copying and doctoring were performed on the East coast of the U.S. Thus far, mainstream media have ignored the findings of these independent studies.

Have the US, Trump Really Abandoned ‘Regime Change ‘ in Syria?

For the past few days, news outlets have been reporting on the Trump Administration and CIA’s announcement to end the controversial covert program to arm and train ‘moderate rebels’ fighting to overthrow the Syrian government of Bashar al Assad. While many who want peace in Syria see this move as a step in the right direction, others still doubt that the underlying goal of ousting Assad has been abandoned completely. The decision may serve a number of purposes, but the long-term goals of the US and its close coalition allies do not change easily, and removing President Assad from power has a centerpiece their regional restructuring plan for a very long time.

Does the announcement really mean that Trump is going to leave Assad alone? Is the US turning a corner in Syria and finally learning from the mistakes it made in Iraq and Libya? Is it really a concession to Russia? Is Trump finally actualizing his campaign rhetoric that seemed to reject America’s foreign wars?

Not likely.

US Joint Chiefs Chairman: Attacking North Korea Is Not ‘Unimaginable’

Gen. Joe Dunford, the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, complained over the weekend that a lot of people are rejecting the idea of the US attacking North Korea, saying the possibility shouldn’t be taken off the table, and that attacking them is “not unimaginable.”

While Dunford conceded that a US attack on North Korea would lead to a “horrific” war, with a death toll unlike anything seen since World War 2, he insisted that the US had to develop a “military option” for the war because otherwise North Korea might nuke Denver, Colorado.

The choice of Denver, Colorado in the comments is a strange one, but likely reflects Dunford’s comments being made in Aspen, Colorado. At the same time, virtually everyone agrees North Korea lacks the capability to hit the US mainland, let alone do so with a nuclear weapon.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: through this statement by General Dunford, the American people are being "groomed" for a US military attack against North Korea, and my sense is, sooner rather than later.

HART Boardmember: Our Credibility has Disappeared, Nobody Knows Who is Responsible

The credibility of rail transit on Oahu has virtually disappeared. No one, least of all the public, knows who is in charge. Nor does anyone believe anything with respect to costs, timetables, transit-oriented development (TOO) or projected financial plans. With multiple governing entities and their pronouncements, no one knows who is responsible for the existing dysfunction, let alone infrastructure policy.

I suggest the recent failure of the State Legislature to reach a conclusion on how to assist the City with funding for future construction and/or operation of rail transit is an opportunity to re-evaluate where we are financially and reconsider what is the most sensible way to move forward.

Taliban Gains Mount in Afghanistan: Two More Districts Overrun

The weekend once again saw the Taliban racking up territorial gains within Afghanistan, seizing the Taywara District in the Ghor Province, and also taking control of the Kohistan District in the far northern Faryab Province, forcing security forces in both districts to retreat and wait for reinforcements.

Taywara is the bigger fight, according to reports, with around 70 Afghan soldiers killed and 30 others wounded in the fighting. In Faryab, the attack was more of a surprise, with Taliban arriving under the cover of night and burning the police headquarters and other office buildings.

This is likely to be a recurring problem for the Afghan military, as the force is nowhere near as large as it is on paper. Many of the Afghan soldiers officials on the payroll are actually “ghost soldiers,” just names that are on the books so some higher ranking official can pocket their salary without any real soldier to complain that he didn’t get paid.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My, how "brilliantly" the US/NATO occupation of Afghanistan is going; the Taliban are gaining more of a foothold in the country, 16 years on, and the US/NATO Coalition is painfully impotent to stop this.

IF the US and NATO leadership had two brain cells to rub together, they would have to admit, after all the blood and money spent here, that there is utterly no military metric by which this insane war can be characterized as "having been won."

What they should do is to remove all Western troops as soon as safely possible, then negotiate with whatever government is left standing in Kabul for the Afghani pipeline and mineral rights; of course, that would be logical, but the collective governmental and military hubris of both sides of the Coalition won't let it happen.

US Coalition Sees a ‘Lot More’ to Do in Syria After Raqqa: Will Continue to Back Kurdish Forces in Taking ISIS Territory

The US-led coalition in Syria believes they have a “lot more” to do in their war against ISIS in the country, even if they manage to expel ISIS from their capital city of Raqqa, with the deputy commander saying they’ll go after the rest of ISIS territory, backing the Kurds.

ISIS still holds a substantial amount of territory outside of Raqqa, including the majority of the Deir Ezzor Province. US officials have previously even singled out Mayadin as the “next capital” for ISIS, which they’ll invade next.

In Iraq, the US has styled their military presence as basically a permanent reality now, irrespective of ISIS’ status, but in Syria, where the US-led coalition isn’t authorized to be in the first place, justifying their long-term presence is going to be trickier.

Al-Qaeda Takes Control of Syrian City of Idlib From Rival Jihadist Group

Underscoring that Friday’s ceasefire was a de facto military victory for them, al-Qaeda’s Nusra Front now totally controls the Idlib Province’s capital city of Idlib, following the other ceasefire party, Ahrar al-Sham withdrawing over the weekend.

The two sides had spent over a week fighting around the province, ending with Nusra having a large contingent of Ahrar al-Sham surrounded at the border crossing into Turkey. This was followed by a ceasefire that aimed to remove all combatants from the crossing itself.

Still, it was no real secret that the deal came simply to prevent a bloodbath, and Ahrar al-Sham fairly quickly had packed everyone up on their vehicles and headed further south, into territory in Idlib Province that they still control.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Looks like the Syrian Army and Russia have their work cut out for them in Idlib.

Detroit '67: The officer who led the raid on the blind pig that ignited the riot

In the middle of a hot summer night in 1967, a group of Detroit police officers stood ready as a door was busted open on the Economy Printing building on 12th Street at Clairmount on the city’s near west side.

As the door gave way, the police officers, led by 27-year-old Anthony Fierimonte, rushed upstairs to the second floor for what they thought would be a routine bust of an illegal, after-hours bar, otherwise known as a blind pig.

They had no idea they were igniting the fuse of a powder keg of stored-up frustration and anger in Detroit's black community that would explode into five days of violence, leaving 43 people dead, thousands of others injured and much of the city looking like a smoldering war zone.

– IN RETALIATION FOR THE SAUDI’S ONGOING AGGRESSION AGAINST YEMEN, YEMENI FORCES HAVE TARGETED AN ARAMCO SAUDI OIL REFINERY IN YANBU PROVINCE WITH A LONG-RANGE BALLISTIC MISSILE.

The Saudi-led coalition tend to order anywhere from 20 to 70 airstrikes against various Yemeni provinces on any given day. Any province under control of Yemen’s Popular Forces is fair game. Hot spots currently include Taiz, Marib, the vital Hodeidah port town, and the densely populated capital city of Sana’a. So in retaliation, Yemeni forces have struck a Saudi oil refinery.

Just yesterday, Saudi airstrikes attacked a fishing boat killing 8 workers on board and wounding at least one more. Other targets frequently include civilian homes, crowded markets, funerals, schools, and all other civilian infrastructure. Despite this terrorism, arms from the west– especially the United States and United Kingdom– continue flowing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That the US government chooses to partner with Saudi Arabia in its war crimes against Yemen is very troubling to me. I wish Mike and I were a lot younger and a lot less broke; then, maybe, we could apply for citizenship in a country which, on moral grounds, would never commit such crimes.

Here's the reality of what is going on in Yemen: the Saudis have been killing and maiming innocent civilians; with US military assistance, they have blocked Yemeni ports so no food can get in, leading to massive deaths by malnutrition; and then, of course, is the horrific outbreak of cholera in Yemen (possibly weaponised), which has seen a toll of over 300,000 people sickened by it.

It appears that our US government has morphed into something far more sinister than the Unhinged Surveilled States of America; it has morphed into the Unhinged, Surveilled States of War Crimes, where profits for the American merchants of death, is all that matters to this government.

Ultimately, there will be costs, financially, physically, and morally, to this country, and its leadership, and those costs may well be devastating.

Please understand that everyone who does not, peacefully, logically, and morally speak out against these practices, on the part of this country, are also complicit in these crimes.

Now is hardly the time to be complacent, or think, for a moment, that they will ultimately not affect you, because, down the road, they will.

VENEZUELA WILL BE THE FIRST SOVEREIGN OIL PRODUCER TO SEE AN "ALL-OUT COLLAPSE"

Venezuela’s anti-government protests are growing increasingly violent, with the death toll from clashes between protesters and government forces that began in May topping 100. Despite the country’s increasing political instability, and US President Donald Trump’s half-serious threats of an invasion, President Nicolas Maduro has decided to press ahead with his vote to create a rubber stamp constituent assembly that will allow him to amend the country’s constitution.

With the country’s finances looking ever more precarious, Bloomberg warns that that this decision could bring about the first collapse of a sovereign oil producer. Venezuela has the largest natural oil reserves of any country on Earth, yet the decline in oil prices that began in 2014, coupled with years of economic mismanagement, have been enough to bring the country’s economy to its knees.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I seriously doubt that the status quo ante will last until Christmas; I would bet, however, that the US government has a ready-made "regime change" in place when Maduro falls, which will put that country into the slave chains of the most painful financial austerity possible.

WHITE HOUSE INDICATES TRUMP WILL SIGN NEW RUSSIAN SANCTIONS BILL; EU READY TO RETALIATE

The White House indicated Sunday President Donald Trump would sign a sweeping Russia sanctions measure, which the House could take up this week, that requires him to get Congress’ permission before lifting or easing the economic penalties against Moscow, reports The Washington Post.

Lawmakers are scheduled to consider the sanctions package as early as Tuesday, and the bill could be sent to Trump before Congress breaks for the August recess. The bill also calls for sanctions against Iran and North Korea. "The administration is supportive of being tough on Russia, particularly in putting these sanctions in place,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told ABC News. “The original piece of legislation was poorly written but we were able to work with the House and Senate. And the administration is happy with the ability to do that and make those changes that were necessary. And we support where the legislation is now." Notes The New York Times:

These sanctions again demonstrate (as though the world needed more proof of it) that the Unhinged, Surveilled States of America are absolutely, idiotically brilliant at punishing countries for what they have not done.

Iran has not violated the P5+1 agreements; the IAEA, which inspects their facilities on a consistent basis, has stated, innumerable times, that Iran continues to completely observe this agreement; yet, they are getting punished as though they were in violation of the agreement. And the domestic missiles which they are now producing, were never a part of the P5+1 agreement to begin with.

With Secretary of State Tillerson openly talking about "regime change" in Tehran being the favored US outcome here, can you really blame them for wanting to have defensive missiles?!?

Russia did not manipulate the 2016 elections, nor did they "annex" Crimea. When the US -sponsored coup in Ukraine threw duly elected Yanukovych under the proverbial bus, and Poroshenko was "anointed" president of Ukraine, the Crimeans realised that there was no legitimate government whatsoever in Kiev. So they held a free and fair referendum, asking the Crimean people if they wanted to stay with Ukraine, or petition Russia to become a part of the Russian Federation. At an overwhelming 97%, Crimeans voted to petition the Russian Federation to become a member, and the Russian Federation accepted their request. Yet, Russia is being punished for two things it absolutely did not do, and for which there is utterly no evidence.

And North Korea?!? The only thing these sanctions against North Korea are going to accomplish are to spur Kim Jung Un on to a faster development of a steerable, functional nuclear bomb.

Great work, Congress!! Way to go!!

‘Don’t THREATEN us’ EU in chaos as Italy launches FURIOUS attack on Austria over migration

ITALY today launched an extraordinary attack on its neighbour Austria as the political strain of the migration crisis once more revealed deep splits within the EU.

In a sign of worsening relations between Rome and other member states prime minister Paolo Gentiloni lashed out against “threats and lessons” and begged the rest of Europe to intervene.

The Italian leader accused Vienna of abandoning its responsibilities as an EU country after Austrian leaders said they would deploy the army to their Alpine border to stop migrants crossing it.

In recent days Italy has become increasingly desperate as it struggles to cope with a huge influx of up to 10,000 migrants arriving at its ports every single day.

CATALONIA’S INDEPENDENCE STRIFE TURNS INTO FINANCIAL SHOWDOWN

Madrid’s standoff with Spain’s north eastern province of Catalonia, which plans to hold a forbidden referendum on national independence on October 1, grows more and more complex by the day. Just in the last week alone the following developments have taken place:

Spain’s Civil Guard has raided Catalonia’s parliament and government HQ as part of its investigation into political corruption in the region. As new research has shown, this investigation forms part of a broader police operation that has served as a means for Spain’s governing People’s Party to spy on political rivals.

Catalonia’s government has replaced the region’s chief of police with a die-hard separatist. It has also purged the cabinet of any members perceived as not fully committed to the separatist cause.

Deloitte published its annual barometer of Spanish businesses according to which 74% of business leaders believe that the independence of Catalonia would do serious harm to Spain’s economy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This issue is as much financial as it is political. Catalonia's debt is off the charts, and if it votes to split from Spain, Brussels will do whatever it thinks is necessary to get that debt repaid, at usurious interest.

Sweden leaked every car owners' details last year, then tried to hush it up

Falkvinge writes Sweden's government has been trying to handle the huge leak of sensitive data away from the public eye.

The story goes back to 2015, when Sweden's transport agency awarded IBM a contract to manage its databases and networks.

...

The leak seems to have happened over email after the transport agency e-mailed the entire database in clear text messages to marketers that subscribe to it – and when the error was discovered, the agency merely sent a new list and told subscribers to delete the old list themselves.

Scott Adams: How “Confident” are Intelligence Agencies that Russia Interfered with the Election?

Remember when all seventeen intelligence agencies agreed that Russia interfered with our elections?

Turns out it was only four.

Do you know how you get four agencies to agree on something of this nature? It’s easy. One publishes an opinion and the other three loyal agencies assume it is credible, so they support it. Do they all do independent investigations?

I kinda doubt it.

310 cases of Israeli violations against journalists

Some 310 violations have been committed by Israeli forces against journalists since the start of the year, the Committee for the Support of Journalists revealed in a report yesterday. The report, which covers the period between January 1 and June 30, states that excessive force was used against media personnel in violation of all international and human rights conventions which guarantee the freedom of press. The American Way of War

The most striking fact about the United States of America is not its supposed founding principles - more often lauded than observed - but how often "the greatest country on earth" has waged war. If we count wars against internal "enemies" (i.e., the Indians), covert foreign wars, and aid to other states' aggressive external and internal wars, we can see the United States has been at war almost continuously since it broke free from Britain. By one estimate this nation has been at war 214 out of the 228 years since the Constitution took effect - that's 94 percent of the time ... From the start, war was an acceptable means to national policy ends, whether to open markets or to install friendly regimes. It's a gross understatement to call this record shameful. It's criminal when you calculate the predictable butcher's bill ...
