Russian strategic bombers hit ISIS in Raqqa in coordination with Pentagon via ‘deconfliction line’

Interesting! They let Mad Dog know, but they sent a heavy fighter escort to protect the old Bear bombers. ISIS has no AF,but we do!

Russian Tu-95 bombers have struck Islamic State (IS, former ISIS/ISIL) targets in Syria's Raqqa region using X-101 cruise missiles, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement, adding that it informed the US about the operation.

In Syria, the bombers operated under cover of Su-30 and Su-35 fighter jets scrambled from the Khmeimim Airbase in Syria's western Latakia region. The bombers then returned to their bases in Russia, the statement says.

The ministry also said it notified Washington about the strikes in advance using the “de-confliction” hotline.

Oregon lawmakers push to repeal sanctuary state designation, make English official language

SALEM -- A group of Republican legislators introduced bills Wednesday that would make sweeping changes to Oregon's stance towards undocumented immigrants.

One bill would roll back Oregon's sanctuary state designation. That proposal and others -- bills that would make English the official language of Oregon and require employers to check workers' eligibility against a federal immigration database -- are unlikely to move through the Democrat-controlled Legislature.

On The Trail Of Missing Fukushima Fuel

By Richard Wilcox, PhD

The location of the melted fuel (corium) at the Fukushima nuclear power station #1, in reactors 1, 2 and 3, is historic because of the massive radioactivity of the material. Depending on its location it will emit deadly radiation into the environment for a long, long time to come.

A few days ago I commented on the high radiation reading (530 sieverts per hour) inside the unit 2 reactor that was discovered by engineers. This reading was not “new” in the sense that the radiation is increasing, indicating that Godzilla is emerging from underground hibernation, but that the radiation was “discovered” for the first time by engineers...

STUDY: Antidepressants linked to higher rates of suicide and self-harm

Evidence continues to pile up about the serious risks of taking antidepressants, and a new study provides additional proof that these risks extend beyond the popular SSRI class of drugs. A study out of the University of Nottingham links some popular antidepressants to a higher rate of suicide and self-harm among people suffering from depression between the ages of 20 and 64.

While past studies have generally focused on antidepressants from a category known as selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs), this one found that those taking other common antidepressants, such as mirtazapine, trazodone, and venlafaxine (Effexor), had even higher rates of suicide and self-harm than those taking SSRIs, which have also been connected to such outcomes.

Moreover, the researchers found that suicide and self-harm rates were the highest during the first 28 days of taking the antidepressants, and the effect remained 28 days after discontinuing the treatment.

Study: Up to 2.1 Million Hispanics May Have Voted Illegally

An analysis of a little-known study concluded there may have been more than 2 million non-citizen Hispanics who illegally voted last year.

SANCTUARY CITIES AREN’T JUST FOR ILLEGALS; THEY CAN BE FOR GUNS, TOO

However, as upsetting as it is that entire cities are ignoring laws that protect our sovereignty, the idea of a sanctuary city isn’t as bad as you might think. I don’t see anything wrong with the basic premise of a community or a city ignoring laws that they think are harmful to them. I only disagree with it in regards to illegal immigration. Cities should be allowed to do this, provided they’re willing to face the consequences, such as defunding by the feds.

The only real problem with the idea of sanctuary cities is that conservatives and libertarians haven’t utilized the concept in their own communities. They haven’t worked up the nerve to ignore the onerous rules of a government they have long complained about. For instance, why haven’t they decided to create sanctuaries for gun rights? Places where cities and towns can ignore state and federal gun laws that they don’t like?

Batten down the hatches: Most powerful storm to hit southern California in years barrels in bringing up to 10 inches of rain and 70mph winds

Southern California is currently being battered by a storm that experts say could be the biggest in six years, bringing heavy rains, gusting winds and the potential for flash floods and mudslides.

The entire Southland of California is on flood watch, including Death Valley National Park - considered to be the driest place in America.

'This will likely go down in the record books as one of the wettest February days ever,' Crystal Egger, NBC's weather forecaster, said.

For now, the storm will mostly steer clear of Northern California, where the bulging Oroville Dam threatened to give way to erosion last week.

But another system could bring more water to the straining dam early next week.

50 Studies the AAP Avoided to Mention

There is a robust, worldwide body of published science from highly esteemed scientists questioning the safety of many different aspects of vaccines-how come we never hear from them? The majority of the most compelling science has been published since 2010. Below find 50 such studies to consider, sorted chronologically, and note that these studies only represent a portion of the published work implicating vaccinations in a wide variety of negative health outcomes.

The American Academy of Pediatrics made representations to President Trump in a letter dated 2/7/2017 that are utterly indefensible and inaccurate, as any rational review of the studies below quickly demonstrates. For example, the AAP wrote:

"Claims that vaccines are unsafe when administered according to expert recommendations have been disproven by a robust body of medical literature...we write to express our unequivocal support for the safety of vaccines."

Mixed Messages on Russia: Trump Administration Divided and All Over the Place

Mixed messages on Russia are coming out of the Trump administration, which seems to be hopelessly divided and anything but cohesive on the Russian issue. Much to the great disappointment of many who see that a peaceful US-Russia relationship is the key to avoiding World War 3, Trump has for the most part changed his tune on Russia … sort of. At today’s press conference he again stressed the need for a good relationship with Russia. Yet, only yesterday on Feb. 15th 2017, Trump himself put out a tweet that alleged that Russia took Crimea and asked if Obama was too soft on Russia? So which is it? Has Trump done a big U-Turn on Russia?

WARNING: Parents told to DESTROY talking doll because it could be used by PAEDOPHILES

PARENTS in Germany have been told to destroy a 'Big Brother' child's doll because it can be used for spying.

Officials fear the doll called 'My Friend Cayla' - which is linked to the Internet - can be easily hijacked by hackers or paedophiles.

Consumer watchdog officials say My Friend Cayla is equipped with an insecure Bluetooth device, which cyber-criminals could take over in order to steal personal data and listen and talk to the child playing with it.

Germany’s Federal Network Agency, the regulatory office for electricity, gas, telecommunications, post and railway markets, now tells parents: "Destroy it immediately."

A strong political opposition is at the very heart of a healthy democracy. If the opposition is weak, we get tyrants, if the opposition is strong, we get debate, reasoning and a compromise that usually benefits the majority (or at least doesn’t disadvantage the minority).

Dangerous: Judge Says It Was 'Objectively Unreasonable' For Cox To Claim DMCA Safe Harbors

From the very beginning, this case was a joke, and it's unfortunate that the court didn't realize that early on. The case was filed back in 2014, and we pointed out that it was really BMG (and another publisher, Round Hill Music) acting as a proxy for copyright trolling operation Rightscorp, testing out the wacky legal theory that the DMCA requires that ISPs kick repeat infringers entirely off the internet. No one has ever interpreted the DMCA in this manner. Yes, 512(i) requires a repeat infringer policy, but it had always been widely recognized that that referred to services that hosted content, not network providers (e.g., YouTube is required to have a repeat infringer policy that kicks users off YouTube if they keep posting infringing works, but your ISP shouldn't kick you off the internet for the same thing.)

White House denies AP report of plan for 100,000 troops to round up immigrants

The Trump administration is considering mobilizing as many as 100,000 National Guard troops to round up illegal immigrants, according to a draft memo obtained by AP. The White House said the agency’s report is “false,” however.

What the AP called “unprecedented militarization of immigration enforcement” would affect locations as far north as Portland, Oregon and as far east as New Orleans, Louisiana, according to the 11-page document, purportedly written by Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly.

Turkey says almost taken Syria's al-Bab, activists cite heavy toll

Turkey's military said Friday it was close to taking Syria's al-Bab from ISIS, but activists said the extremists still controlled 90 percent of the town itself and that shelling and airstrikes had killed dozens of civilians in recent days.

Al-Bab, an ISIS stronghold 30 km (20 miles) from the Turkish border, has been a prime target since Turkey launched an incursion last August to push the extremists from its frontier and prevent gains by a Kurdish militia also fighting them.

Woolly mammoth on verge of resurrection, scientists reveal

Scientist leading ‘de-extinction’ effort says Harvard team could create hybrid mammoth-elephant embryo in two years

Webmaster's Commentary:

As the tag line itself admits, what they are not making a true mammoth but are really making is a hybrid; an elephant with some mammoth DNA in it. That makes applying observations of the hybrid to the real mammoths dubious at best.

With all apologies to Michael Crichton, his "Jurassic Park" method of bringing back the dinosaurs was flawed. It takes more than just the DNA to create new life. There is also the endless series of hormones provided by the mother's body which significantly affect development. This issue is actually addressed in a later film of the franchise. What filled Jurassic Park were artificial creations that only looked like dinosaurs.

Were one to create an absolutely accurate Jurassic Park dinosaur today, it would have a hard time even surviving. Despite the name "Jurassic Park", the specific dinosaurs in the movies were from the Cretaceous period. Earth's atmosphere was very different then. Samples trapped in amber show 50% more oxygen, allowing for higher metabolic rates. There is evidence that Earth's atmosphere was much thicker and denser during the Mesozoic, dense enough that it provided a small amount of buoyancy to land animals, which allowed them to grow to larger sizes.

Hence, a totally accurate Cretaceous dinosaur today would be gasping for breath, be too heavy for its legs, and probably find the present-day sunshine just a bit too bright for comfort.

Behind Israel’s Hostility toward Iran

Western news media has feasted on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s talk and the reactions to it as a rare political spectacle rich in personalities in conflict. But the real story of Netanyahu’s speech is that he is continuing a long tradition in Israeli politics of demonizing Iran to advance domestic and foreign policy interests.

The history of that practice, in which Netanyahu has played a central role going back nearly two decades, shows that it has been based on a conscious strategy of vastly exaggerating the threat from Iran.

Jeff Bezos Is Doing Huge Business with the CIA, While Keeping His Washington Post Readers in the Dark

News media should illuminate conflicts of interest, not embody them. But the owner of the Washington Post is now doing big business with the Central Intelligence Agency, while readers of the newspaper’s CIA coverage are left in the dark.

The Post’s new owner, Jeff Bezos, is the founder and CEO of Amazon -- which recently landed a $600 million contract with the CIA. But the Post’s articles about the CIA are not disclosing that the newspaper’s sole owner is the main owner of CIA business partner Amazon.

Even for a multi-billionaire like Bezos, a $600 million contract is a big deal. That’s more than twice as much as Bezos paid to buy the Post four months ago.

BEX - Rain runoff may have undermined Oroville Dam's concrete spillway, report says

Rainwater erosion alongside the Oroville Dam’s main spillway appears to have contributed to the heavy damage that prompted a crisis, forcing more than 100,000 to be evacuated from their homes, a report reviewed by The Times showed.

A summary of the incident, prepared by state water officials four days after the crater in the concrete chute appeared, said water from heavy rains hit the hillsides where the massive concrete spillway runs.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We already know, thanks to the European press, that the spillway had major cracks dating back to 2009 which were not repaired, but painted over with a concrete solution. But water will still leak through such a patch, washing out a void in the soil underneath and leaving the overlying structure unsupported. It's a larger scale version of the mechanism by which potholes form in roads. And we know this is the case because of how deep that crater was from the initial collapse.

Judge’s Ruling Against CNN May Make Suing Media Easier…

Donald Trump probably doesn't know about it, but the guy who once said he wanted to open up libel laws will probably be quite pleased by a new ruling from a Georgia federal judge. In fact, the stakes in this case are so high we wouldn't be surprised if it eventually lands before the U.S. Supreme Court and potentially makes it easier to sue entertainment and media outlets.
