US OCCUPATION OF VENEZUELA HAS ALREADY BEGUN AND IS BEING CONDUCTED BY EXXONMOBIL

The priority of this U.S. oil company to topple Venezuela is geopolitical and geo-economic, as a fundamental pillar of a new political, economic and financial configuration of the continent (with Russia and China as alternative strategic partners), which poses a threat to the strategic advantages and the almost absolute control of the energy resources of the region that these corporations boasted throughout the 20th century. Securing that source of supply not only enabled it to carry out its arms race and military campaigns in the Middle East, but to maintain a global superpower status which is challenged today by emerging rivals.

In the demarcation reinforced by this second round of contracts in the Liza-1 and Liza-2 fields, there is an implicit interest in appropriating an energy corridor as an Exxon exclusive exploitation zone that runs from the Orinoco Oil Belt, through the Essequibo, reaching the mouth of its Atlantic front.

US Occupation of Venezuela Has Already Begun and Is Being Conducted by ExxonMobil

ExxonMobil awarded contracts to Guyana for infrastructure, drilling and storage with a view to extracting the huge oil and gas reserves from the so-called “Liza Project” located in maritime territory claimed by Venezuela as stipulated by the Geneva Agreement of 1966. In 2015 the first oil discovery in the area provoked a diplomatic conflict between the nations due to the activities of the oil company on the Atlantic front of the Essequibo river.

Prankster Posing As Priebus Says He Fooled Scaramucci Into Bitter Email Spat

An email prankster posing as Reince Priebus claims to have tricked former White House communications chief Anthony Scaramucci into a bitter email spat, shedding light on the political feuds in the West Wing.

The prank allegedly happened shortly before the colorful financier and Goldman Sachs executive, Anthony Scaramucci, resigned as the White House head of communications after just over a week in the position.

JURY TO RULE ON WHETHER THE CIA'S TORTURE ARCHITECTS WILL STAND TRIAL FOR KILLING AND MAIMING

Psychologist James Mitchell is the self-described "architect" of the CIA's torture program (a consulting gig that netted him a cool $80m at taxpayer expense), along with his partner John "Bruce" Jessen -- they're the pair who oversaw black-site torture programs that killed and maimed people who'd been convicted of no crime by any court, anywhere in the world.

Some of the survivors of this torture -- and the families of those murdered by the CIA torturers -- are seeking civil justice from Mitchell and Jessen, with the help of the ACLU.

Now a judge has ruled that a jury will decide whether the torture architects can be sued for their role in the torture and killing, including the death of Gul Rahman, who died of hypothermia while in chains in a cell, in a "starved, sleepless and freezing" state due to the torture he was subjected to.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to hope that the jury agrees that they should be tried for their war crimes, and get convicted.

Torture should never be something that agents of the US government do, ever; and I hope that all of their techniques get revealed to the general public, to make sure that this never happens again.

PENTAGON, STATE DEPT. SUBMIT PROPOSALS TO ARM UKRAINE AGAINST RUSSIA IN NEW PROVOCATION

As the Syrian military moves farther east and clinches yet more territory from America’s terrorists, the United States establishment is now moving to escalate its provocations in another part of the world – Ukraine. Of course, despite the fact that Russia has launched a massive military operation to protect its strategic interests in Syria, the U.S. terror establishment is attempting to provide more arms and equipment to fascists in Ukraine in a clear effort to push NATO literally up to the Russian border.

It is currently being reported by numerous corporate outlets such as The New York Times that both the Pentagon and the State Department are proposing a plan to the White House that would see the U.S. supply Ukraine with anti-tank missiles and other arms. The transfer would also include antiaircraft systems described as “defensive weaponry.”

Senator Graham: Trump Is Prepared To Strike; "There Is A Military Option To Destroy North Korea"

Appearing on the Today Show earlier this morning, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said that President Trump has indicated to him that the administration is prepared to strike North Korea to prevent an attack against the U.S. Pushed on by Matt Lauer on whether a viable military option exists in the region, Graham responded: "They're wrong. There is a military option to destroy North Korea's program and North Korea itself."

"They're wrong. There is a military option to destroy North Korea's program and North Korea itself. If there's going to be a war to stop him [Kim Jong Un], it will be over there. If thousands die, they're going to die over there, they're not going to die here and he's [Trump] told me that to my face."

Webmaster's Commentary:

But if, in fact, he is being utterly truthful, I hope we have a peaceful, fully-vetted negotiating process potentially in place, as is the military option.

Lawsuit Alleges Fox News And Trump Collaborated To Create Fake Story About Seth Rich Killing

Malia Zimmerman, a Fox News reporter, was accused of fabricating two quotes for a story that connected now-deceased DNC staffer Seth Rich to Wikileaks in a lawsuit filed Tuesday by Washington police detective Rod Wheeler, the private investigator hired by Rich's family and himself a longtime Fox News commentator. The lawsuit, which accused Zimmerman and Trump supporter, Ed Butowsky, of inventing a story to "shift the blame" away from Russia's hacking of the 2016 election, also claims that President Trump collaborated with Fox News and was allowed to review a draft of the story before it was published.

The plaintiff claims that the motive behind the report was "to shift the blame from Russia and help put to bed speculation that President Trump colluded with Russia in an attempt to influence the outcome of the Presidential election." Wheeler also said that the fabricated quotes attributed to him were meant to back up the network’s false thesis, and amount to defamation.

US Construction Spending Just Collapsed

Headline growth in US construction spending collapsed in July to just 1.6% YoY - the weakest since 2011.

As Reuters reports, U.S. construction spending unexpectedly fell in June as investment in public projects recorded its biggest drop since March 2002. The Commerce Department said on Tuesday that construction spending tumbled 1.3 percent to $1.21 trillion - the lowest level since September 2016 - drastically missing economists' estimates of a 0.4% increase.

This downside surprise suggests notable downside revisions to Q2 GDP (from its 2.6% annualized level).

However, most ironic in the government's report was, amid The White House constant chatter of the need for infrastructure spending in America, Federal government construction spending crashed 9.5% - the largest drop since December 2010.

A Quarter Trillion Dollars In US Savings Was Just "Wiped Away"

As part of its historical revision to GDP, the BEA also had to adjust personal income and spending, with the full results released in today's July report. What it revealed was striking: over the revised period, disposable personal income for US household was slashed cumulatively by over $120 billion to just under $14.4 trillion, while spending was revised higher by $105 billion, to just above $13.8 trillion. There were two immediate consequences of this result.

First, as the following table shows, while government pay has remained roughly flat over the past 3 years, growing in the mid-2% to mid 3% range, wages and salaries for private workers have been steadily declining as the blue line below shows, and after hitting a 4% Y/Y growth in February, wage growth has slumped to just 2.5% in June, the lowest since January 2014 when excluding the one-time sharp swoon observed at the end of 2016.

China warns Trump over North Korea: ‘Don’t stab us in the back’

China has hit back at Donald Trump over North Korea, with a top official blaming Washington and Pyongyang for raising tensions, while state media warned the US not to “stab China in the back”.

The US president said in two angry tweets at the weekend that he was “very disappointed” with China and that he would no longer allow Beijing to “do nothing” over North Korea.

Mr Trump has long believed that China holds the key to forcing North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons programme, given that Beijing is Pyongyang’s only diplomatic backer and a key trading partner.

But Liu Jieyi, China’s ambassador to the United Nations, said: "No matter how capable China is, China's efforts will not yield practical results because it depends on the two principal parties.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Chinese UN Ambassador Jeiyi makes a valid point; talking between the US and North Korean governments is a heck of a lot better way to ratchet down tensions here than throwing bombs and bullets at each other.

Germany Tells EU to Prepare Countermeasures Against US Sanctions

The German government has again weighed in with strong criticism of the latest US sanctions bill.

The latest comments have come from German Economics Minister Brigitte Zypries, who is reported by Reuters to have said the following

We consider this as being against international law, plain and simple. Of course we don’t want a trade war. But it is important the European Commission now looks into countermeasures.

(bold italics added)

These are exceptionally strong words coming from the Economics Minister of the country which is the US’s most important ally.

They also underscore the folly of the latest sanctions bill. In saying that the proposed sanctions go against international law Germany is now publicly contesting the US doctrine of the universal worldwide applicability of US law.

North Korea's night lights show improving economy despite sanctions

As it happens, 2016 was a banner year for the North Korean economy, according to the Bank of Korea in Seoul. The North’s economy grew 3.9 percent last year, according to bank researchers. That was the fastest pace in 17 years.

Exports to China of coal and other minerals fueled the faster rate of growth. But those exports have reportedly taken a hit this year with Beijing apparently making good on a promise to President Trump to reduce those exports amid the North Korean nuclear crisis.

But Chinese goods are still making their way into North Korea, according to analysts. Despite indicating it would help enforce international sanctions on its neighbor, China’s exports grew nearly 20 percent in the first half of this year, according to a report by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA).

Even though jet fuel was one of five items banned by the United Nations, Beijing’s export of jet fuel to Pyongyang increased 18.3 percent in the first half of 2017.

Iraq War: Bid to prosecute Tony Blair rejected by High Court

Former Iraqi general Abdul Wahed Shannan Al Rabbat alleged the former prime minister committed "the crime of aggression" by invading Iraq in 2003.
No such crime exists in England and Wales and the court ruled there was "no prospect" of the case succeeding.

The general had wanted to prosecute Mr Blair, ex-Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, and ex-Attorney General Lord Goldsmith.

Last year, Westminster Magistrates' Court had turned down Mr Al Rabbat's bid to bring private prosecution.

Iran won’t give Trump a gift by exiting nuclear deal: Zarif

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has said that Iran will not give U.S. President Donald Trump a “gift” by exiting the nuclear agreement.

Exiting the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, is always on the table, however Iran will not take such move when the “main and official parts of the JCPOA are still working”, Zarif said in an interview with the Iran newspaper published on Sunday.

The UN Security Council’s resolution has recognized Iran’s right to exit the JCPOA, because the deal was wrote based on “mutual distrust”, he added.

However, the chief diplomat, said Iran should decide whether remaining in the deal is beneficial or not.

He noted that the European countries seek to remain in the deal and gain its benefits and do not want the U.S. decide for them.

Europeans have adopted positive approach toward the pact during the past months and Iran’s decision depends highly on the European countries’ “behavior”, Zarif remarked.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Crackdown aims to 'silence' Palestinian journalists

Earlier this month, Jihad Barakat, a journalist with Palestine Today TV, was on his way from the northern West Bank city of Nablus to a village in the Tulkarem area to visit family, when he noticed something unusual at an Israeli military checkpoint.

In contravention of protocol, Israeli soldiers were searching the convoy of Palestinian Authority (PA) Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah. Barakat took out his phone and documented the incident; hours later, he was detained by Palestinian security forces.

Media rights activists and journalists quickly took to social media to voice frustration and demand that Barakat be released. A hashtag "Where is Jihad" was assigned to social media posts condemning his detention, and a protest was held by journalists in front of the prime minister's office. The local journalists' union was contacted to act on his behalf.

North Korea or Iran… Where Will President Trump Attack First?

One press report from an unnamed Pentagon source claimed that President Trump “is to order a military strike against North Korea within a year,” after this weekend’s North Korean test of a longer-range missile.

Iran, which along with North Korea and Russia will face new sanctions imposed by Congress and expected to be signed into law by Trump, is also in President Trump’s crosshairs. He was reportedly furious over his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s certifying that Iran was in compliance with the nuclear deal – even though Iran was in compliance – and he seems determined to push a confrontation.

So whom will Trump attack first? Let’s hope nobody, but with continuing pressure from both Democrats and Republicans over the unproven “Russiagate” allegations, it increasingly looks like he will seek relief by starting a “nice little war.” If he does so, however, his presidency will likely be over and he may end up blundering into a much bigger war in the process.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If President Trump order attacks on North Korea, North Korea could plead for military aid from China, and we could conceivably be at war with China.

If President Trump orders attacks on Iran, Iran could conceivably plead for military aid from Russia, and we could conceivably be at war with Russia.

I am looking at a Faux news crawl, and Rex Tillerson is saying that we would be open to talking with North Korea; but I have to wonder what the quid pro quo will be; he is also saying that the US government doesn't want to send the military to North Korea, or create regime change there.

I don't know how disingenuous those statements may be, but the mere fact that he is talking.... about talking to North Korea gives me some hope.

US committed to path of conflict with Russia, tensions higher than in Cold War – Paul Craig Roberts

The new round of sanctions on Russia benefits the US energy industry and military-security complex, and indicates that conflict with Moscow the principal goal of US foreign policy, former Assistant Treasury Secretary Paul Craig Roberts says.

The Senate, in a nearly unanimous vote on Thursday, slapped new sanctions on Russia over alleged election interference by Russian hackers. ‘Furious’ US Complains of Russian ‘Lockout’ at Site

After months of imposing new sanctions against Russia, US diplomats reacted with shock and outrage after Russia imposed retaliatory sanctions against them over the weekend, calling the retaliation “uncalled for”

Russia announced Friday that the US Embassy in Moscow will be limited to 455 employees in the future, and that they will be seizing a pair of properties owned by the embassy. These echo seizures and expulsions the US did to Russia back in December.

North Korea ICBM Failed, But US Still Hypes Threat

US officials have responded to last week’s North Korea ICBM test by hyping up the growing “threat” posed by the nation’s missile program, claiming that North Korea now has the capability of hitting “most” of the United States with a missile.

This narrative plays well into the administration’s eagerness to keep escalating threats and sanctions, but it’s not true. As with the previous “successful” ICBM test, this most recent one wasn’t really a success, and once again demonstrated North Korea’s limitations on such missiles.

In reality, experts say the video footage of the ICBM shows that it broke up upon re-entry, and hit the sea in pieces. Lack of re-entry capability, along with lack of advanced guidance technology, were both cited as problems with the previous test as well.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This means that there is every good reason to sit down an negotiate a peace deal with Pyongyang before it really does develop a steerable, nuclear weapon.

The war on terror has laid waste to large swaths of the Middle East and Northern Africa. Cities, towns, and villages have been reduced to smoking, bombed-out rubble, chaos reigns, the carnage is ubiquitous. The US military keeps count of its own personnel wounded and killed, a number in the thousands. Civilian casualties —or collateral damage as the military calls it—across Chaostan (Richard Maybury’s apt coinage) are in the millions, as are the number of people displaced (an estimated 11 million in Syria alone).

Anger as Charlestown community centre The Place screens film linking vaccines with autism

HEALTH authorities and a Lake Macquarie councillor whose son is on the autism spectrum have slammed a decision to screen a film linking vaccines with autism at a Charlestown community centre.

On Friday night The Place, a not-for-profit centre set up between Lake Macquarie council and property group GPT, hosted a screening of Vaxxed, a documentary that is being toured by the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network (AVN).

The AVN told Hunter ticket-holders of the venue by text and email two hours before the screening.

Zion Declares War on British Jazz

Back in the day, my detractors at least attempted to encounter my arguments and debate me. They didn’t get too far. Since the publication of my new book Being in Time: a Post-Political Manifesto, they have changed their tactics: they insist on obliterating my international jazz career.

Earlier today, a book shop in Oxford that regularly hosts my concerts posted the attached letter (see below) to my Facebook page. The Oxford venue received the letter from the ultra-Zionist Campaign Against Antisemitsm (CAA). The CAA letter is blatantly and intentionally defamatory and duplicitous.

The CAA and other Zionist institutions have been busy subjecting every British jazz venue that features my music to intense harassment. It is no secret that Zionism has been destroying Palestine, its people and its culture for decades. However, eradicating British culture and British jazz in particular may be taking this carnage one step too far.

Author Ed Klein: Hillary Is Getting Ready to Run for Prez Again, “I’m Sure” (Video)

Clinton Author Edward “Ed” Klein joined Steve Malzberg on NewsMax TV Tuesday to discuss Hillary Clinton’s future plans.

Ed Klein told Steve about Hillary’s former staffer running the DNC war room.

Klein also said Hillary Clinton was going to run again in 2020.

Steve Malzberg: Are you saying Hillary Clinton is going to run for president again?

Ed Klein: I’m not only saying it, I’m absolutely sure of it because my sources tell me that she is energized, ready to go, she’s going to write a book for Simon and Shuster… Then she’s going on another listening tour.

That’s the best news for Republicans this year.

Good thing I didn't throw away all those Hillary graphics I made last year! :)

Barack Obama Pushing Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick to Run for President

Unlike George W. Bush, Obama has no qualms about weighing in on current affairs. He doesn’t have the decency to know that his time in the political limelight is over.

So he actively tries to undermine President Trump. And now he and his team of advisers have been caught recruiting candidates to run against Trump in 2020.

Their preferred challenger: Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.

Urgent Warning: Time To Hit The Reset Button On U.S.-Korean Policy

Given the specter of nuclear war, the rational policy is one of de-escalation.

Touching down in Washington D.C. Friday night after a peace delegation to South Korea, I saw the devastating news. No, it was not that Reince Priebus had been booted from the dysfunctional White House. It was that North Korea had conducted another intercontinental ballistic missile test, and that the United States and South Korea had responded by further ratcheting up this volatile conflict.

Amazon finally suspends sales of $60 Blu Android phones after discovering they STILL secretly send user data to China eight months after the firm first claimed spyware was a mistake

Ultra-cheap Chinese-made Android phones which sell for as little as $60 have been banned from Amazon after they were found to be sending data about users to a Chinese server.

The handsets, branded Blu, were pulled by Amazon due to a 'potential security issue.'

Last week, security firm Kryptowire discovered the software that comes pre-installed on the devices has been automatically sending user data to China without alerting users.
