THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, 'This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know,' the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything - you can't conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." -- Robert A. Heinlein, If This Goes On, 1940

Mattis: US Will Keep Arming Syrian Kurds After Raqqa Falls

In comments that are doubtless going to further anger Turkey about US policy in Syria, Defense Secretary James Mattis insisted the current program of arming the Kurdish YPG faction would not end after the capture of the ISIS capital city of Raqqa, and that they might just change the sort of weapons they’re giving the Kurds after that.

This comes less than a week after the US had assured the Turkish government that not only would the US stop arming the Kurds after the defeat of ISIS, but that they’d then take all the weapons back from the Kurds at that point. Mattis appeared to downplay the chances of this, however, saying only that “we’ll do what we can” to recover the arms.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Erdogan has to know that Mattis is powerless to prevent the Kurds from hanging on to those weapons.

An East Tennessee woman claims that she was kicked out of her apartment complex’s pool over fears that her swimsuit would “excite” teenage boys who lived there.
Tori Jenkins tells local news station WTVR that she was asked to leave the pool recently by a woman who complained about her pink one-piece bathing suit.
“She basically told me that if I didn’t have kids, I wouldn’t understand,” Jenkins explains. “If her kids were at the pool she wouldn’t want me in that swimsuit, how inappropriate I looked.”

Pentagon, State Dept ‘Clueless’ on Trump’s Assad Allegation

Last night, the White House issued a surprise statement accusing the Syrian government of preparing a chemical weapons attack and threatening to make them pay “a heavy price” for doing so. This immediately suggested another US attack on Syria was imminent. No one saw this coming, including the Pentagon and the State Department.

Pentagon officials say they were totally unaware if this putative evidence of a chemical attack until the moment the White House issued the statement, something they completely didn’t see coming. The State Department, which would normally be involved in coordinating such an important press release, also wasn’t consulted.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am very concerned about the next week or so, from the 4th of July celebration next Tuesday, through the G-20 summit in Hamburg, Germany on the 7th and 8th of next month.

I think we could very well see a false flag happen in this timeframe, to be blamed on Syria, as the "justification" for a full-on US invasion of the country, to achieve regime change in Damascus.

Of course, the White House's and Nikki Haley's charges bear two areas of intense scrutiny.

First, why would Al-Assad do something this stupid, i.e., a chemical attack against his own people, when his troops are actually winning on the ground?

And secondly, weren't Syria's chemical weapons destroyed several years back through a Russian-brokered, UN supervised program several years ago?!?

If, in fact, these accusations were a just "test run" to see how the American people would react to such an action, I would be willing to bet bet that the overnight polls were overwhelmingly negative.

U.S. defense secretary says Syria appears to have heeded U.S. warning on chemical attack

Syria appears to have heeded a U.S. warning against staging any new chemical weapons attack as no such action has been launched, U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Wednesday. "It appears that they took the warning seriously," Mattistold reporters flying with him to Brussels for a meeting of NATOdefence ministers. "They didn't do it."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mattis taking credit for stopping Syria's 'chemical attack' by Al-Assad...An attack that wasn't there to begin with.

Basically, the government realized nobody was buying this bullshit and that any gas attack would be a US false-flag, so they had to back off, and this is how Mattis is trying to save face.

Trump, Macron to pursue 'common response' in Syria

President Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron vowed to pursue a "common response" to the Assad regime in Syria in the event of another chemical weapons attack, the French government said Tuesday after the two leaders spoke.

"The purpose of the meeting was to prepare for the bilateral meeting of the two presidents during the G20 meeting in Hamburg on 7 and 8 July," the Elysee Palace said in a statement about the phone call between Trump and Macron.

"They also took stock of the Syrian issue and the need to work towards a common response to a chemical attack in Syria," the statement continued. "The two presidents spoke about the situation in the Gulf and the need to avoid any escalation in the region. Both stressed that the fight against terrorism and its financing is a common challenge for all the countries of the region."

India should immediately retreat the border troops that illegally entered into China: Foreign Ministry

China has taken necessary and emergency measures in response to the Indian border troops crossing into the Chinese territory at the Sikkim section of the China-India boundary, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang told a press briefing on Tuesday. The Indian government has been informed of the matter through the diplomatic channel, Lu said.

“The Indian side should take necessary measures to alleviate the tension caused by their border troops' illegal entry, and create conditions for their pilgrims' travel to Xi Zang via the Nathu-la pass,” Lu told reporters on what could come next.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The questions which must be asked are, why did the Indian troops do this, and upon whose authority?!?

India and China are both nuclear-armed nations, and the tensions here need to get ratcheted down immediately.

China Suspends Fuel Sales To North Korea

Reuters reports that China National Petroleum Corp has suspended sales of fuel to North Korea over concerns the state-owned oil company won't get paid, as pressure mounts on Pyongyang to rein in its nuclear and missile programmes, three sources told Reuters.

China provides most of North Korea’s food and fuel imports. It has backed the Kim dynasty since the Korean War, in part to keep U.S. troops away from its border. While China has taken some steps on North Korea -- including halting coal purchases this year after Kim’s estranged half-brother was murdered in Malaysia -- its efforts haven’t produced a breakthrough so far.

Last Remaining Police Station in Migrant-Dominated Swedish Suburbs Forced to Close

The last remaining station in the troubled Järva area will most likely have to close, police sources have said, due to lack of staff.
The police station in Kista is the only one still open in the Järva area, in which lie the suburbs of Rinkeby, Tensta, and Husby — migrant-dominated neighbourhoods classed by Sweden’s National Police Operations Department (NOA) as “vulnerable”.

According to police sources, the move to close the station has already begun, and there are no plans for it to be reopened. Officers who work at Kista station will be moved to police headquarters in Solna.

Leading terror researcher Magnus Ranstorp called the decision to close Kista’s police station a “disaster”, tweeting, “They should open four more instead!”

California to list herbicide as cancer-causing; Monsanto vows fight

Glyphosate, an herbicide and the active ingredient in Monsanto Co's popular Roundup weed killer, will be added to California's list of chemicals known to cause cancer effective July 7, the state's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) said on Monday.

Monsanto vowed to continue its legal fight against the designation, required under a state law known as Proposition 65, and called the decision "unwarranted on the basis of science and the law."

The listing is the latest legal setback for the seeds and chemicals company, which has faced increasing litigation over glyphosate since the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer said that it is "probably carcinogenic" in a controversial ruling in 2015.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Latest: Venezuela minister says chopper fired 15 shots

The Latest on a helicopter attack on Venezuela's Supreme Court. (all times local):

11:40 p.m.

Venezuelan Information Minister Ernesto Villegas says that a stolen helicopter fired 15 shots against the Interior Ministry as a reception was taking place for 80 people. It then flew a short distance to the pro-government Supreme Court and launched what he said were four Israeli-made grenades of "Colombian origin," two of them against national guardsmen protecting the building.

Authorities said there were no injuries from Tuesday's attack and that the area was still being surveyed for damages. Villegas said security forces were being deployed to apprehend Perez, who the government of President Nicolas Maduro accused of working under the instructions of the CIA and the U.S. Embassy in Caracas.

This Ukrainian Company Is Likely Behind the Ransomware Wave

After landing on victims' machines, the malicious software then spread stealthily across networks through a vulnerability in Microsoft Windows, which Microsoft (MSFT) released patches for in March. Companies that did not apply the patch—sealing a hole exploited by a leaked hacking tool associated with the U.S. National Security Agency—were vulnerable.

Additionally, the malware spread by harvesting usernames and passwords from infected computers. Should one of these computers happen to have had administrative privileges, that login information could be used that to take over other machines on the network managed under the same credentials.

The timing and initial target of the attack, MeDoc, is sure to provoke speculation that an adversary of Ukraine might be to blame. The ransomware hid undetected for five days before being triggered a day before a public Ukrainian holiday that celebrates the nation's ratification of a new constitution in 1996.

Of adults who have been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, or other mental health disorders, 18.7% use prescription opioids, compared with only 5% of people without those diagnoses (P<0.001).
