Alison Weir: As Israel Kills and Maims, Outrage is Directed at Helen Thomas

Whenever Israel commits yet another atrocity, its defenders are quick to redirect public attention away from the grisly crime scene.

Currently, there are headlines about allegedly anti-Semitic comments made by senior White House correspondent Helen Thomas. Pundits across the land evince outrage at her off-the-cuff 25-second statement made to a man who appears to be holding a camera right in her face.

Thomas issued a public apology for her words, but this was insufficient to assuage the wounded feelings of powerful antagonists, and she has now retired from a long and distinguished career.

Before we examine her comments and evaluate their possible validity, let’s look at other recent events having to do with Israel.

Gulf Oil Reaching Atlantic Coast, Ocean By June 20 If Uncontained

A detailed computer modeling study released today indicates that oil from the massive spill in the Gulf of Mexico might soon extend along thousands of miles of the Atlantic coast and open ocean as early as this summer.

Is Chuck Schumer on a Mission From God to Protect Israel?

Near the end of the interview, this is how Schumer reiterated his devotion to the cause of Israel:

"You know, my name .... comes from the word shomer, guardian, watcher. My ancestors were guardians of the ghetto wall in Chortkov. And I believe Hashem actually gave me that name. One of my roles, very important in the United States senate, is to be a shomer — to be a or the shomer Yisrael. And I will continue to be that with every bone in my body ... "

Webmaster's Commentary:

I hope that the people of New York will decide that Chuck Schumer is so intent on protecting Israel that he is unable to protect New Yorkers, as demonstrated by his failure to protect 19-year old native New Yorker Furkan Dogan from being gunned down in cold blood by Israeli troops, four bullets to the head, in international waters. If Schumer is so devoted to Israel, we should give him a plane ticket and insist he go there.

Clinton Catalyzed Gulf Oil Drilling Boom

All three Administrations - Clinton, Bush, and Obama - bear the blame for this abject failure. None took the danger of a massive spill seriously or sought to hold up the massive expansion of off shore drilling until failsafe measures could be developed.

But, as with the subprime crisis, policy initiatives taken during the Clinton years - with the best of motives - were implemented without adequate regulation and without due consideration of the dangers involved. We are now suffering mightily for this failure of foresight and planning.

Israeli troops avoided the use of non-lethal riot gear against passengers on last week's Gaza-bound flotilla in order to appease United States President Barack Obama, according to the World Tribune. Quoting “diplomatic sources,” the paper said Obama nixed the use of equipment such as tear gas to stop the flotilla and demanded that Israel “exercise extreme caution and restraint.”

Of course, Palestine like all other nations, loves football and has always tried to build a national team that can compete and reach global tournaments. But how can this dream come true if we know that Israel misses no opportunity to shatter these dreams in ways such as denying players from travel or even killing them.

A couple of years ago, Palestinians expressed their national pride through a football team that decided to make history with its first ever international home game. Although Palestine has been a FIFA member since 1998 it has been denied a home ground and it has been forced to train and play overseas due to Israeli occupation.

Israel's Gaza blockade: letting the chips fall where they may

Alan Sabrosky argues that Israel's withholding of food items such as potato chips from Gaza indicates that its strategy is “designed to hurt Palestinians and not to protect Israelis", and that although the Palestinians are now the victims of Israel's "affinity for dominance and inflicting deaths of a thousand cuts", others’ turn will come unless the rogue Jewish state is reined in.

”Too many of us – myself once included – for too long have viewed Israelis as just a particularly nasty variant of a type often seen in the world, something like semi-Semitic Prussians or an apartheid-era South Africa of the Middle East. They are not. They are much worse, and much more dangerous to all of us…”

FBI investigate peace activist

At a recent protest in San Francisco, Zionists hurled insults at peace activists and also issued threats such as this:

You’re all being identified, every last one of you…we will find out where you live. We’re going to make your lives difficult..we will disrupt your families…

It would appear that there are Zionists in Austin, Texas, who share the same sentiment and have decided to enlist the services of the FBI in order to pursue their political agenda.

What other plausible explanation can there be as to why the FBI came to question the mother of five shown in this video? She is a part-time registered nurse and part-time peace activist whose only form of “suspicious” behavior is that she has participated in protests calling for justice in Palestine.

From the Ground: BP Censoring Media, Destroying Evidence

While President Obama insists that the federal government is firmly in control of the response to BP's spill in the Gulf, people in coastal communities where I visited last week in Louisiana and Alabama know an inconvenient truth: BP -- not our president -- controls the response. In fact, people on the ground say things are out of control in the gulf.

Even worse, as my latest week of adventures illustrate, BP is using federal agencies to shield itself from public accountability.

Also, names and phone numbers of several Texas A&M University marine life specialists are wrong. So are the numbers for marine mammal stranding network offices in Louisiana and Florida, which are disconnected.

Israel’s Embargo is about Economic Warfare, Not Security

Despite the fact that spokespersons for the Israeli government and military continue to claim that the economic blockade of Gaza is meant to be measures to protect Israel’s “security,” documents obtained from a McClatchy newspaper investigative reporter indicate that the real motive behind the blockade is something else: economic warfare on the people of Gaza.

McClatchy obtained the government’s written statement from Gisha, the Legal Center for Freedom of Movement, which sued the government for information about the blockade. The Israeli high court upheld the suit, and the government delivered its statement earlier this year.

Obama proclaims Friday Kamehameha Day

Obama's proclamation says King Kamehameha's legacy is preserved in Ke Kanawai Mamalahoe, or "the Law of the Splintered Paddle."

It says the law protects civilians in times of war and is enshrined in Hawaii's constitution as a "unique and living symbol" of the state's concern for public safety.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unless those civilians are on an aid flotilla in international waters being attacked by Israel, of course!

My email to the new combined Star Advertiser...

President Obama has declared today as Kamehameha day at the national level and while we may celebrate the recognition of Kamehameha at the White House, I take issue with Obama’s comment regarding the Law of the Splintered Paddle protecting civilians in time of war.

Where was Obama’s concern for civilians when Israel attacked a humanitarian aid flotilla in international waters and kidnapped 12 American citizens earlier this month, including Honolulu’s own Ann Wright? Why is it that the families of the 11 oil workers from the destroyed oil platform, at best an industrial accident, get feted at the White House while a 19-year old born in New York dies with four bullets to the brain virtually without comment?

The US Government stands alone among all civilized nations in defending the nation that attacked American aid workers on the open ocean. Such treason makes a mockery of Obama’s proclamation of King Kamehameha Day.

In the Summer of 2010

Are you ready for interesting times and an exodus from the United States? A possibly apocryphal ancient Chinese curse goes "May you live in interesting times." Those words may derive from an authentic Chinese proverb: "It is better to be a dog in a peaceful time than be a man in chaos."

Most economic, political and military events are just business as usual for financial elites and the industries beholden to them. They take advantage of real or contrived economic crises, military operations and foreign conflicts the way stockbrokers churn stocks to generate commissions. The collateral damage, causalities, wealth transfers, confiscation and mass hardship are just tricks of the trade.

US ‘desperately’ trying to keep Wikileaks from publishing US communications about Arab states

Philip Shenon, a former New York Times reporter now writing for Tina Brown's The Daily Beast, alleged late Thursday that the Pentagon is "desperately" searching for the founder of the whistleblower website Wikileaks, out of concern he is about to publish classified US State Department cables.

Curiously, the piece cites an American diplomat as saying their chief concern is the leak of communications "prepared by diplomats and State Department officials throughout the Middle East, regarding the workings of Arab governments and their leaders."

Webmaster's Commentary:

The rumor is that these cables further document that Israel is controlling the US Government and its war machine.

BP Oil Disaster Could Hit Europe Via the Powerful Gulf Stream Current

A cursory look at a map of the Gulf Stream shows that the oil is not just going to cover the beaches in the Gulf, it will spread to the Atlantic coasts up through North Carolina then on to the North Sea and Iceland. And beyond the damage to the beaches, sea life and water supplies, the Gulf stream has a very distinct chemistry, composition (marine organisms), density, temperature. What happens if the oil and the dispersants and all the toxic compounds they create actually change the nature of the Gulf Stream? No one can rule out potential changes including changes in the path of the Gulf Stream, and even small changes could have huge impacts. Europe, including England, is not an icy wasteland due to the warming from the Gulf Stream.

IDF-hired driver: 'Why did they kill so few?'

Patriotism, or very bad taste? Civilians driving on the Trans-Israel Highway 6 on Friday could not ignore a sign posted on a bus driving on the road, which conveyed a controversial message to the commandos who took park in the interception of the Gaza-bound flotilla: "Shayetet 13, shame on you. Why did you kill so few?"

Even more surprising is that the bus itself was hired by the Israel Defense Forces and was driving soldiers home for the weekend.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Although the way in which this allegedly took place creates distance from both the Israeli government and military, the message was clearly engineered more for international consumption, rather than domestic.

That message is that the world can expect more vicious, murderous violence from Israel for anyone daring to attempt to bring humanitarian goods of any kind into Gaza by sea.

As the Anti-Privatization Forum of South Africa has written, “Our government has managed, in a fairly short period of time, to deliver ‘world class’ facilities and infrastructure that the majority of South Africans will never benefit from or be able to enjoy. The APF feels that those who have been so denied, need to show all South Africans as well as the rest of the world who will be tuning into the World Cup, that all is not well in this country, that a month long sporting event cannot and will not be the panacea for our problems. This World Cup is not for the poor – it is the soccer elites of FIFA, the elites of domestic and international corporate capital and the political elites who are making billions and who will be benefiting at the expense of the poor.”

Hypocrisy Reigns

Things internationally are so dispiriting there's nothing left to do but fantasize. I picture Turkey, as a member of NATO, demanding that the alliance come to its defense after being attacked by Israel. Under Article 5 of the NATO charter an armed attack on one member is deemed to constitute an armed attack on all members. That is the ostensible reason NATO is fighting in Afghanistan — the attack against the United States on September 11, 2001 is regarded as an attack on all NATO members (disregarding the awkward fact that Afghanistan as a country had nothing to do with the attack). The Israeli attack on a Turkish-flagged ship, operated by a Turkish humanitarian organization, killing nine Turkish nationals and wounding many more can certainly constitute an attack upon a NATO member.

Jun 11 10:53

US reaction to flotilla attack is unacceptable

Obama should have called for legal action to be taken against those who committed the piracy. He should have called for the humanitarian goods to be delivered, without hindrance, to the people of Gaza. Instead, in a bizarre interview with Larry King, Obama managed to infuriate the Arab world by saying that there had been "missiles raining down on Israeli cities along the Israel/Gaza border", which never happened. It is true that a few missiles were fired over civilian targets, which was wrong.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Those few rockets fired into Israel, hardly more than fireworks that usually seem to hit empty fields, are home-built and untraceable. Given Israel's long history of false-flag attacks, and the fact that these rockets fly when Israel most needs them to, one cannot rule out the possibility that these rockets are in fact Israeli propaganda tools.

Torture Of Palestinian Child Prisoners "Widespread And Institutionalised"

Each year around 700 Palestinian children are arrested, interrogated and prosecuted in the Israeli military court system. From 100 testimonies, from different age groups and locations, DCI found that 69% were beaten or kicked and 81% made forced confessions during interrogations, which would commonly take place with the prisoner blindfolded and handcuffed. 32% signed confessions in Hebrew.

DCI also submitted 50 cases of children suffering extreme abuse. These include ’M.S’, 16, who was "arrested at 2am, threatened with rape, beaten with a chair, then signed a confession in Hebrew". ’Muhammad H.’, also 16, "breaks leg during arrest, hit with helmet and iron rod, nose broken".

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, torturing kids is part of the "brave" behaviour against Palestinian children from "the only democracy in the Middle East"?

Torturing anyone is morally reprehensible; but the torture of children is particularly vile, and yet that is what has become institutionalized in the Israeli penal system.

Gaza flotilla attack: activist releases new footage

New footage has emerged of the Israeli assault on a convoy of aid ships headed to Gaza in which nine activists were killed.

The high-quality film was reportedly recorded by New York-based documentary maker Iara Lee aboard the Mavi Marmara, the Turkish ship that bore the brunt of the Israeli attacks.

Israel attempted to confiscate all footage recorded by participants in the Gaza Freedom flotilla – including taking away mobile phones – but Lee managed to smuggle one hour of video out of the country by hiding it in her underwear, it was reported.

Obama Goes with Neocon Flow on Iran

Whether wittingly or witlessly, President Barack Obama is pursuing a neocon-charted path on Iran that parallels the one that George W. Bush took to war with Iraq – ratcheting up sanctions against the “enemy,” refusing to tolerate more peaceful options, and swaggering along with the propagandistic tough-guy-ism of the major U.S. news media.

The Obama administration is celebrating its victory in getting the UN Security Council on Wednesday to approve a fourth round of economic sanctions against Iran. Obama also is expected to sign on to even more draconian penalties that should soon sail through Congress.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We know why Obama is pushing for a war with Iran (or anyone). Absent a new war, this November's elections will be about the economy, the oil disaster, ]the already bogged down wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and of course the attack by Israel on Americans in international waters and the US Government's treasonous defense of the Israelis.

License to Kill: Obama blurs the line between warfare and summary execution.

Nearly a decade after the September 11 attacks, we still have not settled the question of how to deal with terrorism suspects. Should they be in military or civilian custody? Should they receive trials, and if so what kind? After years of acrimonious debate, President Obama is offering a way to settle this argument once and for all: Why not just kill them?

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just how soon Obama will be "importing" this tactic to right here in the US, to be used against anyone with a legitimate disagreement with the US Government's domestic or foreign policies?!?

And if you think for one moment such a thing couldn't happen here in the US, you haven't been paying attention.

Senators Lieberman and McCain, who collectively never met a section of the Constitution or Bill of Rights they didn't despise, have introduced "the Enemy Belligerent Interrogation, Detention and Prosecution Act", which would empower the U.S. military to arrest anyone, U.S. citizen or otherwise, who is suspected of terrorist associations and detain them indefinitely, without right to a trial.

How's that for "gulag-think"?!? And what mechanism is there of this provision to prevent such people from simply "disappearing" in custody? NONE.

Shocking Testimonials from the Mavi Marmara survivors. And one Israeli fembot by Lauren Booth

One of the most striking trends following the flotilla attack has been how quickly Israeli hasbara is being exposed by internet journalists. The doctored IOF audio clips, where amateurs with mock Arab accents hiss ‘Go back to Aushwitz’ to Israeli naval officers. Well they didn’t take long to pull apart did they? Then there are the (so-pathetic-they’re-almost-funny claims the flotilla was linked to Al Quaeda. I laughed out loud to read in an Israeli paper that humanitarian activist (and former US marine) Ken O’Keefe was going to Gaza to; ‘train a commando unit in Hamas.’ I know Ken fairly well. Quite frankly I’m not sure who should be more insulted by this stupidity him or Hamas?

The Banality of Occupation

While the world has been rightfully focused on the Gaza Flotilla, the banality of occupation goes on. In this video (originally posted on Coteret), a twelve year old boy is arrested in Bil’in. An international activist and the boy’s mother plead with the soldiers to release him, but the soldiers ignore them completely, with the complete power of the occupier. The child was apparently working in his olive groves with his family. As the boy is taken away, you can see, not far away at all, the buildings of the nearest settlement. Just another day in Palestine.

Rachel Corrie and Furkan Dogan: Murdered American Heroes

“You [Israel] killed 19-year-old Furkan Dogan brutally. Which faith, which holy book can be an excuse for killing him? ... The sixth commandment says, ‘Thou shalt not kill.’ Did you not understand? I'll say again. I say in English, ‘You shall not kill.’ Did you still not understand? So I'll say to you in your own language. I say in Hebrew, ‘Lo Tirtzakh.’” – Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, 4 June 2010

In the past seven years, two Americans were unjustly, maliciously and violently killed by the Israel “Defense” Forces (IDF). Both had unwittingly given their lives for Gaza, and in the aftermath of their murders, their government forsook them.

Boehner : Taxpayers–Should Help Pay For Oil Spill

Congressional Democrats and the White House are toying with different ways to force BP to cover the costs of damages from the Gulf oil spill. But they face stiff opposition from industry...and it seems leading Republicans. In response to a question from TPMDC, House Minority Leader John Boehner said he believes taxpayers should help pick up the tab for the clean up.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The essential nature of a fascist economy is that profits are kept private, but losses are socialized across the general population. Now We The People did not blow up that well. And the US Government is supposed, via the MMS, to oversee the safety of the drilling process. But even though the MMS was already plagued with corruption and incompetency scandals when Obama took office, Obama was too busy taking care of Israel to bother with the American people; a triage he maintains to this very day.

So why should We The People pay for BP's screwup and the US Government's failure to keep watch on this nation's infrastructure? Of course, we know that one way or the other the people get stuck with the bills, either through taxes or increased prices for oil products, but the kowtowing to the oil company in an election year is rather reckless, don't you think?

Consider first of all Israel’s defense of its blockade of Gaza as something that is essential for its security, with the accompanying embargo on products that it allows to enter Gaza officially being intended to deprive Hamas of anything that might strengthen its position there, and allow it to strike Israel anywhere with anything. This is the theme reiterated by Israeli officials when they halt land convoys and intercept sea-going ones, and applauded by its cheerleaders in the US Congress and the mainstream media in the US and elsewhere.

Joe Biden: In Israel’s Service

Israel appears to be in more serious trouble diplomatically than at any time in its history following the botched attack by an “elite” commando squad on the Mavi Marmara that left at least nine dead and scores wounded. Thanks to Al-Jazeera and Iran’s PressTV, whose reporters were aboard the ship, much of the world was able to watch the attack unfold on its TV and computer screens and the result has been an avalanche of outrage and ongoing protests against the Jewish state. Within Israel this has led to finger-pointing and calls for resignations while its hasbara machinery has gone rapidly into damage-control and disinformation mode.

BP oil leak aftermath: Slow-motion tragedy unfolds for marine life

According to marine biologist Rick Steiner, my companion on a boat ride through the slick, this is the most volatile and toxic form of crude oil in the waters and lapping on to the beaches of Grand Isle, the area at the heart of the slowly unfolding environmental apocalypse that has engulfed Louisiana, and is now moving eastwards, threatening Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle.

Fifty-three days after BP's ruptured well began spewing crude oil from 5,000ft below the sea, the wholesale slaughter of dolphins, pelicans, hermit crab and other marine life is only now becoming readily visible to humans.

Israel plans to send bill to Palestinians over boycotts

Embattled and increasingly isolated, a group of politicians are now proposing a bill that would outlaw boycotts against the Jewish State, both homegrown and international.

The Land of Israel, a right-wing parliamentary lobby group committed to Jewish settlement of the West Bank, submitted the bill with the support of 25 politicians from right wing and centrist parties. If approved, it could theoretically force the Palestinian Authority (PA) to pay thousands of dollars in compensation to Jewish businesses affected by the Fayyad-led boycott campaign, a scenario that would likely spark furious reaction from Palestinians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This bill, if passed, will only make Israel look more vindictively petty and foolish than it already does to the rest of the thinking world. And note the arrogance in Israel saying they will pass a law that makes INTERNATIONAL boycotts illegal!! Under what jurisdiction?

It's Official: There was No Humanitarian Aid on Mavi Marmara

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed Israel's representatives the world over that there were never any humanitarian supplies or equipment aboard the Mavi Marmara

The equipment includes:

1. 300 wheelchairs
2. 300 new mobility scooters
3. 100 special mobility scooters for the disabled
4. Hundreds of crutches
5. 250 hospital beds
6. 50 sofas
7. Four tons of medicine
8. 20 tons of clothing, carpets, school bags, cloth and shoes
9. Various hospital equipment - closets and cabinets, operating theater equipment, etc.
10. Playground equipment
11. Mattresses

The equipment does not constitute humanitarian aid in the accepted sense (basic foodstuffs, new and functional equipment, fresh medicines).

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, the Israeli government has now confirmed, officially and undeniably, that it is utterly, collectively, barking mad.

To not characterize these items as "humanitarian aid" completely, and totally insane.

Debt Facade Cracking in U.K. as Sovereign Contagion Spreads

I said the implosion in Greece’s stock and interest rate markets — stemming from concerns about that country’s massive debt and deficit problems — were a huge red flag. They foretold a collapse in other sovereign debt markets, with collateral damage in currencies and equities.

Lo and behold, markets are now weakening worldwide. And this week, the contagion spread to the U.K. The British pound got hammered, while the FTSE 100 Index rolled over, amid concern the U.K. would be the next domino to fall!

Obama adminn left Israel hanging out to dry three separate times - John Bolton

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. Bolton.

The job of the President of the United States is not to take care of Israel but to take care of the United States.

No government can serve two masters, and a government that serves Israel cannot serve the American people. A friend to Israel is no friend of America.

While Obama and Congress take care of Israel, our roads crumble, our bridges fall, our flood control fails, our economy crashes, our mines cave-in, and our oil wells explode. Clearly, until our problems here at home are resolved, caring for Israel even as it attacks Americans in international waters is a luxury this nation cannot afford.

America needs leaders who will put America first, second, and third.

For the US in Afghanistan, the News Is Bad

While U.S. officials insist they are making progress in reversing the momentum built up by the Taliban insurgency over the last several years, the latest news from Afghanistan suggests the opposite may be closer to the truth.

Even senior military officials are conceding privately that their much-touted new counterinsurgency strategy of "clear, hold and build" in contested areas of the Pashtun southern and eastern parts of the country are not working out as planned despite the "surge" of some 20,000 additional U.S. troops over the past six months.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US and NATO are seen as occupiers by the Afghan people, and have installed a puppet government so collectively crooked and corrupt that they have to screw their socks on in the morning.

The Afghan people "do not hate us because we are free"; they hate us because we are indiscriminately murdering their sons, daughters, wives, cousins, and friends. They want they country back, and one can hardly blame them for this

The US and NATO invaded, and continues to occupy this country, to achieve two outcomes.

The first was the "pacification" of the country to the degree where oil pipelines could be installed with which to control Eurasian oil.

We are absolutely no closer to achieving that outcome than we were almost 9 years ago when this immoral and illegal war began.

The second outcome, about which one can well say, "mission accomplished", is the control of the lucrative drug trade, which the Taliban had almost completely eradicated under their watch.

So our and NATO'S military, our and their young men and women, are fighting, getting maimed, and dying for oil and drugs.

As late as August of 2001, the Bush Administration was negotiating with the Taliban for the pipeline rights, but considered the cost asked by the Taliban as "too high".

Apparently, they didn't believe that the cost of war, in blood and money, was at all "too high" a price for the citizens of this country to pay.

And this is where the situation stands today.

An intelligent, enlightened US government leadership would understand that even if President Incompetent were to invoke a draft, it would be too little, too late to stem the tide here.

However, Obama has made a colossal blunder in embracing this war as his own, somehow having bought in to the "magical thinking" of the Pentagon that this war could possibly be won, in a military context.

One would hope that the US military had absorbed the lessons of Viet Nam by now, but tragically, this hasn't happened.

We need to leave, declare victory, and negotiate with whatever government is left standing regarding the rights to the oil pipelines.

But of course, that... would be logical.

American Base In Israel.

Many have written asking me about the Barry Chamish Report of the American Base here in Israel. Barry and I went there today and I can tell you that it is there. In fact, it isn’t even being hidden, but how would they hide such a thing anyway. What they are doing is saying it is a storage facility and the US is building it for Israel. But let me tell you that makes absolutely no sense. I don’t know how many buildings are already constructed or what they are for but we can make some good guesses.

The Day When Obama Took Off His Mask

On May 18, the Obama Administration introduced a draft into the UN Security Council to impose new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear programs. This was the US official answer to an agreement brokered by Brazil and Turkey on May 17 to revive last year’s arrangement for Iran to exchange much of its low-enriched uranium for fuel rods for its research reactor in Tehran. With this decision, the US has shown its contempt not only to Iran, Brazil and Turkey but also to the whole world that has welcomed the Tehran Declaration and supports a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.

British Firm Cuts Ties with Israeli Company after Flotilla Raid

British company RedRat announced to Israeli company Disk-In Pro that despite years of cooperation, it would no longer work with the Israeli company because of Israel's policy in the Gaza Strip.

"A few days ago we received an email from RedRat which said they would not continue to work with us because of the flotilla events," Dana Levinger, marketing manager at Disk-In Pro, told Ynet. Russia Moves Forward on Defense Missiles, Nuclear Plants for Iran

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced today that they are in new talks with Iran on construction of additional nuclear power plants in the nation, and that they may still deliver the S-300 Missile Defense System to Iran, though no date was given for this delivery.

The S-300 systems are purely defensive in nature, but would make a prospective Israeli attack against Iran considerably more difficult.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russia's intended delivery of this system strongly suggests that Russia and Iran are working together to deter any invasion, and the passage of the UN Security Council Sanctions has little actual effect on Iran, but forces Israel and the US to wait even longer before they can justify an attack.

Gulf Oil Spill ‘Could Go Years’ If Not Dealt With

What the enormoity of the oil spill does is to also further discredit clearly the oil companies’ myth of “peak oil” which claims that the world is at or near the “peak” of economical oil extraction. That myth, which has been propagated in recent years by circles close to former oilman and Bush Vice President, Dick Cheney, has been effectively used by the giant oil majors to justify far higher oil prices than would be politically possible otherwise, by claiming a non-existent petroleum scarcity crisis.

Chamber President Says His Group Will Find Way to Get Government to Share Cost of Gulf Coast Clean-Up

The head of the United States Chamber of Commerce said Friday that his group is not yet lobbying against legislative efforts to raise BP’s liability cap, viewing the issue as not yet "ripe."

He signaled, however, that his group would figure out a way to get the government to share in the cost of cleaning up the Gulf Coast.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Tom Donahue: BP is the culprit here, not We the People, who are already, just in case you haven't noticed it,taxed to death. You are also dealing with a government which is totally broke, to the tune of 13 trillion in the red.

You talk about "the government" sharing the cost of cleaning up the Gulf Coast, as though it has absolutely no relationship to how much more the taxpayers are going to have to pay to get this handled.

This is BP's mess: BP should bear full responsibility for cleaning it up.

Human rights group: BP discouraging crews from using respirators

BP's logic seems to be that if the oil cleanup doesn't look dangerous then it must not be. The oil company has told workers not to wear respirators because it's bad for public relations, according to one human rights group.

"In all three states that I've visited, fishermen said when they went out to work on the cleanup, that if they tried to bring respirators they were told it was unnecessary equipment and would only spread hysteria," Kennedy told Fox News Friday.

"When I went out with eleven people, we had respirators on and within half an hour, all of our eyes were burning and our throats were closing and we all had headaches," she explained.

Kennedy was also concerned that BP was refusing to release information about the contents of the dispersant being used.

Debt Can Never Be Repaid, By Bankster Design

The creation of the Federal Reserve will undoubtedly go down as one of the biggest tragedies in American history. After all, the government handed over the right to print the nation’s currency AND charge interest to a private, for-profit corporation with foreign stockholders. The Federal Reserve was given the right to simply print massive sums of money out of thin air and then charge the American taxpayer interest on that money.

A New and Controversial Book by a Firearms Expert May Finally Reveal the Definitive Truth in Kennedy's Assassination

In his conclusions, as a result of a three-year study of the president's shooting, Mr. Martin attests that the evidence shows that the first gunman took one shot, with the second and third gunmen taking two shots each. He has also discovered that different caliber rifles were used for the first, third and fifth and final shot. The book also exposes the many contradictions and fallacies contained in the Warren Report, regarding the shooting of our president. Additionally, it also explains why it can be concluded that the "magic bullet" found in Parkland Memorial Hospital was evidence planted after the fact, to directly incriminate Oswald in the murder of the president.

Averting Another Gaza

The whole world was shocked by the tragic consequences of the Israeli military operation conducted in international waters against the “Peace Flotilla” convoy of ships. The human cost is unacceptable. Nothing can justify the use of such violence, and our countries immediately condemned it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My letter to the New York Times (Feel free to copy and use)

While I share the world’s revulsion at Israel’s attack on an unarmed aid flotilla in international waters I take strong exception to the comment made by the authors of this piece in the third paragraph. HAMAS did not stage a coup d’état against the Palestinian authority. HAMAS won the elections, and it was FATAH that tried to forcibly remove HAMAS, but failed. An official Israel government documented reported by McClatchy news only yesterday confirms that the purpose of the blockade is not Israel’s defense, but to force the Gazans to surrender their elected government and accept Israeli rule via their proxy Fatah. That the list of items banned by Israel in Gaza included potato chips, shaving cream, candy and cookies demonstrates that defense is not the issue here.

Israel’s attempt to coerce acceptance of al alternate government in Gaza is a mirror of the attempt by the USSR in 1948 and 1949 to blockade West Berlin in order to starve that city into accepting Soviet rule via their proxy East Germany. The world reacted quite differently back then, mounting the Berlin airlift, flying 13,000 tons of food and necessities into West Berlin daily on the principle that no government has a right to starve another people into changing their political system.

Instead of such heroism, today we see the US Government, at a time when our economy is collapsing, our bridges falling, mines caving in, and oil wells exploding, marching along in perfect goose-step to defend Israel for their attack on a US-flagged ship in the flotilla, the Challenger 1 and the kidnapping of 12 Americans in international waters, with the shooting death of a 19 year old boy from New York. Quite a far cry from the days when President Teddy Roosevelt sent a fleet of battleships to the Mideast with orders to destroy Morocco if businessman Ion Perdecaris was not immediately returned (he was). And as I recall, the US Sixth Fleet is even now killing Somalians for the exact same actions of hijacking and kidnapping in international waters that Israel has just committed against the US. Turkey, and Greece!

Before we can solve the problems in the Mideast, why have to solve the problems here in this country, and ask ourselves why the US Government, so ready to invade Iran and Iraq over non-existent nuclear weapons, turn a blind eye to an attack on Americans while defending the attacker!

International condemnation of the raids continued in foreign capitals. Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel's slaves polish their chains!

No government can serve two masters, and a government that serves Israel cannot serve the American people. A friend to Israel is no friend of America.

Memorize this list of Israel's whores in the US Government and vote them out of office before it is your children being murdered by Israel! There is no more important issue this election!

How BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil find was originally reported in September 2009

Below are a few media reports from September 2009 discussing the BP Gulf of Mexico Tiber Oil Field find when it originally hit the newswires. This was the deepest oil and gas well in human history, going to a depth of 35,000 feet. Exploratory drilling began in March 2009. Deepwater Horizon did not commence until September 2009. Only the second story from Bloomberg hints at the "volatility" related to the find and the need for "caution."

Video Shows Israeli Commando Executing American

Original posting:

The Israeli military attempted to confiscate and erase the photographic and video evidence of its brutal asault on the Mavi Marmara aid ship on Memorial Day. But it turns out that digital images can often be recovered after erasure, and can be put on small memory sticks that can be hidden in nooks and crannies of luggage. So some images are in fact surfacing.

The most damaging is a film of an Israeli soldier kicking an American citizen while the latter is on the ground, and then executing him. This film completely refutes the rightwing Israeli government’s narrative of besieged lightly armed troops haplessly fending off naked aggression on the part of the aid workers. The video, which has not been confirmed, is now at Youtube:

Russia says air-defence missile deal will be unaffected by Iran sanctions

RUSSIA said yesterday that the new UN sanctions did not forbid the delivery of S-300 air-defence missiles to Iran.

Israel and the United States have urged Russia not to supply the missile systems, which would substantially increase Iran's defence capability. Russia agreed to sell the missiles in 2007, but has not yet delivered them.

Mikhail Dmitriyev, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Co-operation, which oversees arms trade, also said the new UN resolution would not affect the S-300 deal.

Actually, lemme back up a sec, cause that’s the latest spin. The initial spin was when the Israeli commandos boarded the ship they were facing an ‘armed militia’ which caused them to shoot. The only problem was no weapons were found. This led to Israel changing up again. This time they said they switched the story and said the folks on the ship came at them with metal pipes, rushed them and made them fearful for their lives hence 11 people had to be killed including an American citizen..

The American People are Under Occupation

In response to yesterday’s worldwide condemnation of the Gaza Flotilla Massacre, our US government has decided NOT to stand for justice and has again chosen a path outlined and led by a Global Elite Political Movement that is willing to put the interests of their agenda far ahead of interest of the American people and even the lives of American servicemen and women.

So far and blatant is their arrogance and contempt for our people, that when it’s clear that an injustice is at play, they continue on as if nothing has happened and ignore it until the next news cycle.

Arab nations have censured Israel at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) board meeting, for preventing the Middle East from becoming a nuclear-free region.

In the IAEA board session on Thursday, which addressed Israel's nuclear issue for the first time since 1991, Arab states called on the regime to come clean about its nuclear capabilities and allow international investigations, DPA reported.

The Spill, The Scandal and the President

It's tempting to believe that the Gulf spill, like so many disasters inherited by Obama, was the fault of the Texas oilman who preceded him in office. But, though George W. Bush paved the way for the catastrophe, it was Obama who gave BP the green light to drill. "Bush owns eight years of the mess," says Rep. Darrell Issa, a Republican from California. "But after more than a year on the job, Salazar owns it too."

The company has even hired Anne Womack-Kolton, a former top aide to Vice President Cheney, to be its new spokesperson.

Now, joining Womack-Kolton in helping BP repair its image is former chief of staff to President Bush, Josh Bolten:

Both the Attack on the Flotilla and the Siege of Gaza are Illegal

Israel's deadly attack on the Gaza "Freedom Flotilla" was flagrantly illegal. The flotilla, carefully searched for arms before disembarkation, enjoyed the right of free navigation in international waters, and Israel had no legal justification to interrupt its peaceful mission.

Flotilla passengers were entitled to defend themselves against Israel's forcible boarding of the Mavi Marmara, whether or not Israeli commandos fired immediately on landing on the ship's deck, as the passengers maintain. Dropping 100 armed soldiers on a ship from the sky is not a peaceful maneuver. Nor can Israeli armed commandos claim self-defense, any more than a purse snatcher facing a victim who elects to fight back. Hence, Israel is culpable for the killings that followed.

Based on this evidence, two Marine landing teams went into Danang and a week after that the American air force began regular bombing of North Vietnam.” An invasion that took three million lives was under way.

Gaza Is in Our Hearts

Perhaps the greatest of all historical ironies — reflected in hypocrisy assuming gargantuan proportions — rests with how those who were so horribly victimized by the Holocaust essentially hold a Gestapo outlook toward Palestinians today.

Good and evil have traded places, an astonishing transition brought about by concretizing the “Never Again!” reaction to what European Jewry experienced under Hitler to such a dogmatic hard line, myopically advanced by an increasingly extremist Israeli leadership, that much of Israel’s population simply can’t recognize what’s plainly evident to most of the rest of the world.

Let the Palestinians Eat Potato Chips

At first glance, I thought I was reading a parody mocking the absurd list of the products that are banned from reaching Gaza. The Associated Press just published an article titled “Israel Eases Gaza Blockade on Some Banned Foods.” That seemed like a promising headline. It now appears that the Israelis will permit the Gazans to import soda, juice, jam, spices, shaving cream, potato chips, cookies and candy. That’s it. No steel – no cement – nothing that can be used for rebuilding the thousands of homes, hospitals, schools, sewage plants and mosques that were reduced to rubble in last year’s carpet bombing of Gaza. What the AP failed to report is the long list of food products that still remain on the black list.

“There will be oil off the coast of Miami shortly, if it’s not already there. It’s happening,” says Dr. Robert H. Weisberg, director of the University of South Florida Ocean Circulation Group in the school’s College of Marine Science. And Weisberg says he has the forecasts to prove it–four of them to be exact. The latest updates to those forecast has oil from the Gulf spill showing up in the Gulf Stream off the coast of Miami today.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oil was being reported off the coast of Fort Lauderdale yesterday.

As a side note, just because water isn't black or brown does not mean it is safe. Methane, or natural gas, is colorless and odorless (the stinky smell is actually added to gas as a safety precaution by the gas company prior to piping it to your home) and dissolves in water the same as oxygen and carbon-dioxide so. Below 1500 feet, the methane and water form a white solid known as methane hydrate, but above 1500 feet, where the Deepwater Horizon wellhead is located, the methane and water remains a clear colorless solution that is not confined to the oil globules. Thus, the biohazard is not confined to the visible pollution areas.

Senior White House Official: UN Sanctions Alone "Would Not Be Sufficient" to Change Iran's Behavior -- But Much More to Come

Senior White House officials acknowledged Wednesday afternoon that the new regime of UN Security Council sanctions against Iran “would not be sufficient” in and of itself to change the behavior of the Iranian government and convince its leaders to stop its nuclear weapons program.

But, they emphasized, these sanctions are just the beginning – the “1” of a “1,2,3 punch,” as one senior White House official put it.

The next step: on June 17 the European Council will meet and impose even stricter sanctions on Iran. Then Congress will pass additional tough sanctions, which the President will sign.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Notice that these alleged "officials" are not sourced: how Israeli media-like by ABC news!

And this article, by the way, simply obligingly regurgitates the essence of article which appeared in Haaretz today, with the same talking points.

Israel and the US are "grooming" the American public for a military confrontation with Iran, in spite of the UN Security Council sanctions.

The question is, what are Israel and the US going to use to "sell" the American people on the necessity for going to war against Iran?

The U.S. response - Thank you, but no thank you, we've got it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unflipping believable.

Israel’s “self-defense” narrative falls apart

On May 31, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the actions of IDF soldiers who had conducted the raid on the Mavi Marmara, killing at least nine of its passengers, as “a clear case of self-defense because as our soldiers were inspecting these ships, they were attacked – they were almost lynched. They were attacked with clubs, with knives, perhaps with live gunfire, and they had to defend themselves – they were going to be killed.”

That was before video emerged appearing to show two Israeli soldiers first pummeling with their boots and then shooting one of the victims as he lay at their feet. To stand above an injured man and then finish him off with rounds from an assault rifle can by no ones estimation be described as an act of self-defense.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder what other press outlets, besides Haarez, has had access to Shelly Kreitman.

It is obvious that the Israeli government has given Ms. Kreitman her marching orders about what to say about her daughter's state of mind, having lost her eye to an attack by and IDF tear gas canister

US Senator unveils pro-Israel resolution in flotilla feud

A top Republican US Senator on Wednesday unveiled a resolution fully supporting Israel's actions in its deadly raid on a Gaza-bound ship, while condemning the pro-Palestinian activists aboard.

Republican Senator John Cornyn's non-binding measure, if approved, would affirm the US Senate's belief "that Israel has an inherent and undeniable right to defend itself against any threat to the safety of its citizens."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Senator Cornyn: by presenting this resolution in Senate, you have made it abundantly transparent regarding the interests for whom you are working, and it is absolutely not for the interests of We the People of the United States of American, but for a foreign country,Israel.

What about Americans' right not to be hijacked in international waters, beaten, and/ or being shot to death?!? Do American aid workers, bringing desperately needed supplies to Gaza, no longer have those rights, nor US protection against armed thugs, just because those armed thugs are Israelis?

Afghan president 'has lost faith in US ability to defeat Taliban'

President Hamid Karzai has lost faith in the US strategy in Afghanistan and is increasingly looking to Pakistan to end the insurgency, according to those close to Afghanistan's former head of intelligence services.

Amrullah Saleh, who resigned last weekend, believes the president lost confidence some time ago in the ability of Nato forces to defeat the Taliban.

Webmaster's Commentary:

After nearly nine years and still no decisive victory and/or stabilization of Afghanistan, who can blame Karzai if he's actually thinking this right now?!?

Obama has allowed Afghanistan to become his very own personal Viet Nam, a reprehensible and tragic consequence of some very bad choices on his part, upon which history will judge him most harshly.

Israeli document: Gaza blockade isn't about security

As Israel ordered a slight easing of its blockade of the Gaza Strip Wednesday, McClatchy obtained an Israeli government document that describes the blockade not as a security measure but as "economic warfare" against the Islamist group Hamas, which rules the Palestinian territory.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is not "economic warfare" against Hamas; it is an horrifically slow, calculated genocide against every Palestinian Gazan.

As reported on 15 November, 2008 at:

"The Israeli blockade of Gaza has led to a steady rise in chronic malnutrition among the 1.5 million people living in the strip, according to a leaked report from the Red Cross.

It chronicles the "devastating" effect of the siege that Israel imposed after Hamas seized control in June 2007 and notes that the dramatic fall in living standards has triggered a shift in diet that will damage the long-term health of those living in Gaza and has led to alarming deficiencies in iron, vitamin A and vitamin D.

The 46-page report from the International Committee of the Red Cross – seen by The Independent – is the most authoritative yet on the impact that Israel's closure of crossings to commercial goods has had on Gazan families and their diets."
As reported earlier this year at:

"The number of children under five years of age suffering from acute malnutrition in Gaza almost doubled between 2006 and 2008 from 1.4 to 2.4% (UNICEF). The World Health Organisation (WHO) also noted rising indicators for stunting, wasting, low body weight and anaemia among children and pregnant women. The ongoing blockade of Gaza has limited the availability of healthy foods and fresh fruit and vegetables on the local market and children’s health has further suffered."

Malnutrition destroys future generations; the Israelis are quite well aware of this, and thus preventing of the foods coming into Gaza that would forestall malnutrition for these kids is official Israeli Government policy.

It will be the next round of U.S. sanctions that really hurts Iran

Both Israel and the United States realize that the new sanctions won't bring Iran to its knees; the key to that is in complementary sanctions, imposed by the U.S. and like-minded nations.

Turkey is changing the rules of the regional game.

The vote against sanctions sets up Ankara as an ally of the radical axis led by Iran, and Turkey is also moving toward disputing Israel's very legitimacy, its right to self-defense and even its right to exist.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, the drumbeat for war against Iran continues, in spite of UN Security Council sanctions having been passed, coupled with the demonization of Turkey.

Unfortunately, Russia and China, having acquiesced to signing on to the sanctions, didn't take into account Israel's collective hubristic paranoia, particularly at the highest levels of its government.

These "complementary sanctions" are only a prelude to the military confrontation against Iran, which will almost inevitably follow.

Bankruptcy filings are nearing the record 2 million of 2005, when a new law took effect that was aimed at curbing abuse of the system. Filings could reach 1.7 million this year, says law professor Robert Lawless, but few experts believe that debtors are now gaming the system.

Instead, concern exists about a growing number of Americans who need bankruptcy protection but cannot get any benefit from it or simply cannot afford to file. As their financial problems worsen, that hurts everyone because it can hinder the economic turnaround.

Resurgent Taliban threaten U.S. win in Marja

Afghanistan - Residents of this onetime Taliban sanctuary see signs that the insurgents have regained momentum in recent weeks, despite early claims of success by U.S. Marines. The longer-than-expected effort to secure Marja is prompting alarm among top American commanders that they will not be able to change the course of the war in the time President Obama has given them.

Firefights between insurgents and security forces occur daily, resulting in more Marine fatalities and casualties over the past month than in the first month of the operation, which began in mid-February.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Bottom line: the US is not winning, and cannot win a military victory here.

We have never had, nor ever will have, enough troops on the ground to win this, probably not even if Obama reinstitutes a draft, (which is something against which I wouldn't bet at this point.)

The US and NATO should declare victory, withdraw, and negotiate with whatever government is left standing for the rights to the oil pipelines with which to control Eurasian oil.

Of course, that would be logical; and logic and US foreign policy have not had any real long-standing relationship for some time now.

Our Covenant

Sadly, too many Americans still don’t understand that it is the U.S. Constitution, to which our soldiers make their oath to support and defend … with their lives if need be … against all enemies foreign and domestic, which provides for we the people to be the “deciders” and not the President or members of the military itself.

S Koreans slam visit by 'killer' Peres

The protesters shouted slogans against Israel and defaced an Israeli flag with palm prints stained in the color of blood. They also carried banners reading, "Shimon Peres the Killer," and urging, "Lift the siege on Gaza immediately."

Israeli media said Peres had to curtail his Asian tour in the wake of massive protests worldwide against Israel's attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, downgrading his trip as a "working" visit and pushing him to delay the second leg of his trip, to Vietnam.

Webmaster's Commentary:

GOP Senate candidates turn focus to Israel

The Republican U.S. Senate race focused Sunday on relations with Israel, with both Irvine Assemblyman Chuck DeVore and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina defending the actions of Israeli troops who killed nine people after boarding a Turkish ship carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Webmaster's Commentary:

More traitors in our midst!

No government can serve two masters, and a government that serves Israel cannot serve the American people. A friend to Israel is no friend of America.

America needs leaders who will put America first, second, and third.

Obama pledges $400 million for Palestinians

Obama had planned the White House meeting with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to talk mainly about Mideast peace. But after the aid flotilla assault, they ended up focusing on the blockade of Gaza.

President Obama pledged an infusion of $400 million in aid for housing, school construction and business development in the Palestinian territories Wednesday, saying after a one-on-one meeting with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas that the situation in Gaza is "inherently unstable."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to President Bushbama; pledging aid money for "...housing, school construction and business development" sounds great; but how are you going to get concrete into Gaza unless Egypt allows you to do it, because the Israelis sure as hell won't?!?!?

Pro-Obama Thug Viciously Attacks Anti-Bailout Protester

Yet another shocking example of a pro-Obama thug violently assaulting anti-Obama protesters has emerged right on the eve of an MSNBC hit piece hosted by Chris Matthews which smears anyone who questions the actions of international bankers or the federal government as a dangerous racist who wants to kill people.

U.S. Seeks to Punish Iran with New Sanctions Resolution

The United Nations Security Council yesterday passed a fourth sanctions resolution against Iran for its insistence on enriching its own uranium under its nuclear program and for what the resolution described as insufficient cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Experts criticized the U.S. policy of continually seeking tougher sanctions on Iran by pointing out how ineffective it is.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think Obama just walked into a trap.

By going along with the sanctions, Russia and China have removed the possibility of an attack by Israel and the US for the immediate future. The US has to give the new sanctions time to work, and the fact that we know these new sanctions won't have any more effect on Iran's non-existent nuclear arsenal than previous one. As this article points out, the new sanctions are watered down from previous sanctions. They cannot really have an effect. Worse, American businesses are coming forward to report that the new sanctions will harm American businesses more than they will harm Iran. But Israel must be obeyed, the sanctions were voted through, and now the US must be seen to give the new sanctions time to work. Now that the sanctions are a done deal, there is no more story! Iran is off the table as a media distraction for the next few months!

That means Obama and Israel have lost their largest smoke screen, and now the focus shifts back to...

1. Israel's possession of nuclear weapons and the attempted sale to South Africa.

2. Israel's attack on the aid flotilla in international waters.

3. The US Government's total abandonment of American citizens and a US-flagged ship in their haste to protect Israel from criticism.

4. The collapsing economy.

5. The Gulf Oil disaster.

By going along with the new sanctions, Russia and China have created a situation where Obama cannot justify an attack on Iran until AFTER the November elections, too late to use Iran as a campaign issue to keep Democrats in control of Congress.

Fed sees economy picking up all across U.S.

Metal producers in Chicago and St. Louis cranked out more steel. Makers of drugs and medical equipment in the Northeast did better business. And sales of summer clothes were strong in fashion-conscious New York.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Notice, in this article, that no hard numbers are actually cited here.

And the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is very likely to have far-reaching negative implications for the economy as a whole which are not yet reflected in whatever numbers the Feds may claim they have right now.

Also, for those whose jobs have been offshored, cannot find new jobs with which to replace their income, and have consequently lost their homes, the recession is still on, full-tilt boogie.

Israeli document: Gaza blockade isn't about security

Israel imposed severe restrictions on Gaza in June 2007, after Hamas won elections and took control of the coastal enclave after winning elections there the previous year, and the government has long said that the aim of the blockade is to stem the flow of weapons to militants in Gaza.

Last week, after Israeli commandos killed nine volunteers on a Turkish-organized Gaza aid flotilla, Israel again said its aim was to stop the flow of terrorist arms into Gaza.

However, in response to a lawsuit by Gisha, an Israeli human rights group, the Israeli government explained the blockade as an exercise of the right of economic warfare.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To put this in context, let us imagine that the government of Canada is buddy buddy with the Democrats here in the USA, but American voters, fed up with the Democrats' empty promises of hope and change, hand the government to the GOP.

Does this give Canada a legal right to blockade the USA until we vote their buddies back into power?

European Jewish Group to Launch Flotilla to Break Gaza Blockade

A Jewish European peace group is to launch a boat to break the blockade of Gaza in the coming months, organizers said, almost a week after nine activists were killed making the same trip.

European Jews for a Just Peace (EJJP) - an umbrella organization of Jewish groups from 10 European countries against the occupation of Palestine - aim to deliver humanitarian aid such as school books and medicines to the Gaza Strip, and to draw attention to the blockade which they call "immoral."

"We want to show that not all Jews support Israel," said Edith Lutz, a German member of the EJJP. "We are calling for a just solution and for an end to the blockade."

Jews in Germany to send aid fleet to Gaza

Jews of Germany prepare a boat of humanitarian aid to Gaza, that it has predicted to leave at the end of the month of July, according to has indicated east Thursday a person in charge of the initiative in Berlin. " The list of the passengers still has not been made, but we have very many requests of all parts of mundo" , he has declared to the radio Deutschlandfunk, Edith Lutz, that is in charge of this project, organized by the German section of the network ' European Jews by a peace justa' in Near East. Between the interested people they appear " several israelíes" , aside from which they have received " numerous messages of support coming from Israel".

Webmaster's Commentary:

Note that we have to go to the foreign press to learn this.

'Iran sanctions won't stop arms deal'

Russia said Thursday that the new UN sanctions do not forbid the delivery of S-300 air-defense missiles to Iran.

Israel and the US have urged Russia not to supply the missile system, which would substantially increase Iran's defense capability. Russia agreed to sell the missiles in 2007, but has not yet delivered them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The delivery of the S-300 air defense system will happen when Moscow believes that it strategically the absolutely right time to make it happen.

The leadership of both Russia and Iran have one thing in common: they are chess players, which the leadership of the US can barely mount a decent game of checkers.

Hello Chinese exports, good-bye U.S. jobs

For millions of unemployed Americans, the news about China's surging export market isn't necessarily cause for celebration, even if it might be a harbinger for global recovery.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As long as there is no real push to bring back those (used to be) high paying jobs which have been offshored, more and more people in the US will lose their jobs, their home, and their kid's chance for an education which will give them the opportunity to move forward in their lives.

This had better start bothering those in power in Washington, because the outrage at every level of government here in the US, at domestic, economic, and foreign policy blunders, is mounting, roiling, and will come to an absolute boiling point in the not too distant future.

The only question is, what shape that outrage will take.
