New Orleans Resolution Is Victory, Test for Palestinian Rights Movement

On Thursday, the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed a resolution to start screening investments and contracts and divest from corporations that profit from human rights abuses.

New Orleans becomes the first major city in the US South to pass such a measure.

The resolution was drafted by members of the New Orleans Palestinian Solidarity Committee, which has organized protests and called on municipal leaders to declare New Orleans “an apartheid-free city” by banning financial ties to Israel, in accordance with the demands of the Palestinian-led boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign.

“This overwhelming support is the product of only one thing,” Max Geller of the New Orleans Palestinian Solidarity Committee told The Electronic Intifada, “and that is consistent direct action and pressure.”

King Family civil trial verdict: Martin assassinated by US government. Video walkthrough of evidence, context to kill Dr. King’s million person occupation of DC until US illegal rogue state empire stopped War of Aggression on Vietnam

Coretta Scott King: “We have done what we can to reveal the truth, and we now urge you as members of the media, and we call upon elected officials, and other persons of influence to do what they can to share the revelation of this case to the widest possible audience.” – King Family Press Conference, Dec. 9, 1999.

Dr. King’s 2-minute message to you (full 1967 speech to end the Vietnam War):

Dr. Martin Luther King’s family and personal friend/attorney, William F. Pepper, won a civil trial that found US government agencies guilty of Martin’s assassination/wrongful death. The 1999 trial, King Family versus Jowers and Other Unknown Co-Conspirators, is the only trial ever conducted on the assassination of Dr. King. The King Center fully documents the case, with full trial transcript (to more fully explain the following summary of trial evidence, here is the best article I’ve found).

Living under a bridge doesn't stop this homeless woman from staying positive.

A few months back I logged onto Facebook and was greeted by a smiling homeless woman's selfie in front of a tent holding up a cup of coffee. It was captioned "good morning." Today, I met Manda at her homeless encampment where she made me a cup of coffee!
Manda is an amazing woman. She is disabled from severe brain trauma, yet because she is high functioning, she falls through the gaps in the safety net. I have been working with her trying to help find a path out of homelessness, but the walls bureaucracy are impossible to break through.
For all the people that believe homeless people are lazy, I wish they could just spend an hour in Manda's shoes! She works hard to keep her tent camp clean. She works hard getting to treatment and therapy. She works hard every single day trying to survive. And she works extremely hard to stay positive while facing the madness of homelessness each and every day!

Korea: Peace Breaks Out Despite McMaster

This isn’t just about the Olympics: it’s the beginning of a new phase in North-South relations, and the start of the decoupling process that was begun, ironically, by this President when he brought up the US-South Korean trade imbalance and raised the possibility during the presidential campaign of withdrawing US troops and having the South take care of their own defense. This no doubt got the South Koreans – particularly then candidate Moon – to thinking that maybe it’s time to strike out on a more independent course … and start putting Korea first.

Who or What Is Feeding the Unrest in Iran? Philip Giraldi

Given the history of foreign interventions in the Middle East, is the United States or Israel plausibly involved in the demonstrations?
The answer to that is both yes and no. There is considerable evidence that the United States and possibly Israel, joined by Saudi Arabia, have set up several command centers in Iraq and Afghanistan to support the protests. They have been using social networking as well as radio broadcasts to encourage the people to get out and demonstrate. One such station called AmadNews, broadcasting from outside Iran, called on demonstrators to attack police stations and government buildings. It appears to be a US government front manned by Persian speaking Israelis.

Flashback: How the Clinton Foundation Got Rich off Poor Haitians

In January 2015 a group of Haitians surrounded the New York offices of the Clinton Foundation. They chanted slogans, accusing Bill and Hillary Clinton of having robbed them of “billions of dollars.” Two months later, the Haitians were at it again, accusing the Clintons of duplicity, malfeasance, and theft. And in May 2015, they were back, this time outside New York’s Cipriani, where Bill Clinton received an award and collected a $500,000 check for his foundation. “Clinton, where’s the money?” the Haitian signs read. “In whose pockets?” Said Dhoud Andre of the Commission Against Dictatorship, “We are telling the world of the crimes that Bill and Hillary Clinton are responsible for in Haiti.”

A Brief History of Political Profanity

Lyndon B. Johnson had a famously dirty mouth. He chided Canada's Lester Pearson for his anti-Vietnam stance by saying, "You pissed on my rug," and once likened the difference between a Senator and a Representative to "the difference between chicken salad and chicken s___." He even considered removing J. Edgar Hoover as FBI chief but changed his mind, reasoning that "it's probably better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in."

Yet despite Johnson's many outbursts, Richard Nixon holds the unofficial record for being the most openly profane U.S. President — probably because he recorded much of what he said in the Oval Office. In a taped 1971 conversation between the President and two of his aides, Nixon called Mexicans "dishonest," said that blacks lived "like a bunch of dogs" and that San Francisco was full of "fags" and "decorators." And that was just one conversation.

ISRAEL ‘ACCIDENTLY’ SHOOTS PALESTINIAN TODDLER IN THE HEAD

A three-year-old Palestinian was shot in the head during an Israeli “military training” session in the northern occupied West Bank city of Tubas.

According to a statement by the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Health, the child was hit in the head with live bullets. He was taken to Rafidia Surgical hospital in Nablus.

She pointed out that the child’s relatives told “medical staff that he was shot during IDF training in the area.”

“The health situation of the injured child is stable,” the ministry said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Please give me a moment to get my head around this; so now, the attempted assassination of Palesinian toddlers in the course of "military execises", using live fire bullets, has just been "normalized" by the IDF?!?!?

'LAGGING BEHIND': EU INVESTS $1.2BN IN SUPERCOMPUTERS TO COMPETE WITH CHINA, US

The EU says it is "behind" when it comes to supercomputers, and plans to invest $1.2 billion in at least four of the machines. The move is seen as an effort to play catch-up with countries including China and the US.
In a European Commission press release on Thursday, the Commission's Vice President for the Digital Single Market Andrus Ansip said the EU is "lagging behind" when it comes to supercomputers.

"We do not have any supercomputers in the world's top ten," he said.

To fix that problem, the commission plans to use €1 billion ($1.2 billion) of public funding to invest in at least four supercomputers by 2020. Of that amount, $589 million will come from the EU. A similar amount will come from individual member states and "associated countries" that sign up for the project. "Private members of the initiative would also add in-kind contributions," the release states.

A new app is about to change the way we have sex — and it all has to do with the #MeToo movement

Inspired by the #MeToo movement and Sweden considering changes to its rape laws — where partners would have to get explicit consent via contracts before sexual contact — blockchain company LegalThings One came up with LegalFling, an app where people can quickly swipe to give consent.

The company specialises in smart contracts using blockchain technology — a form of public record that ensures everything the couple agree on and consent to cannot be digitally changed.

It’s labelled it a “smart solution” to the practical implications the law could have on people’s lives.

CEO of LegalThings and creator of LegalFling Rick Schmitz claims the app is the best and quickest way couples can legally give consent without killing the mood.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is getting silly.
