I-5 sign encourages commuters with 'U SUCK' slogan

Well this won't help Seattle's reputation for being "anti-car."

Mid-day yesterday drivers on Southbound Interstate 5 were treated to a very special message from the traffic sign near State Route 518: "U SUCK."

One valiant Seattleite captured the sign from his dashcam during his commute, and posted the photo (and video) to his Facebook and Reddit accounts.

The picture, predictably, caused a lot of hubbub and a flurry of "no u" from Redditors, Washington Department of Transportation popped in to provide an explanation.

Trump’s Disastrous Syria Attack

President Trump celebrated firing more than 100 missiles into Syria by Tweeting, "Mission Accomplished!" ... There is much about the US attack on Syria that reminds us of Iraq ... Where is Congress? It was disgraceful to see Speaker Paul Ryan telling the President he needs no Congressional authorization to attack Syria. All Members of Congress take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, and the Constitution says that only Congress can declare war. Does that oath mean nothing these days? President Trump will come to regret the day he let the neocons take over his foreign policy. Their track record is abysmal. His attack on Syria was clearly illegal, and should his party lose the House in November he may find his new fair-weather friends in the Democratic Party quickly turning foul.

Battles of Lexington and Concord

The Battles of Lexington and Concord, fought on April 19, 1775, kicked off the American Revolutionary War (1775-83). Tensions had been building for many years between residents of the 13 American colonies and the British authorities, particularly in Massachusetts. On the night of April 18, 1775, hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord in order to seize an arms cache. Paul Revere and other riders sounded the alarm, and colonial militiamen began mobilizing to intercept the Redcoat column. A confrontation on the Lexington town green started off the fighting, and soon the British were hastily retreating under intense fire. Many more battles followed, and in 1783 the colonists formally won their independence.

A Conversation on Race — Paul Craig Roberts

We often hear that we need a conversation on race. Considering that Americans are a brainwashed people living in a false history, such a conversation would resemble the one the Russians were expected to have with the British in regard to the Skripal poisoning: “Yes, we are guilty. We will pay reparations. Where would you like us to send Putin for trial?” In other words, the only acceptable race conversation in the US is one in which white people accept the accusation that they are racist and offer to make amends.

Considering that the only slavery experienced by any living black or white person is income tax slavery, race is an issue only because it has been orchestrated as an issue along with gender and sexual preference. These divisive issues are the products of Identity Politics spawned by cultural Marxism.

‘Astronomical’ Cost of War: Average US Taxpayer Sent $3,456 to Pentagon Last Year and Just $39 to the EPA

As Americans rushed to pay their taxes on Tuesday before the official deadline, peace groups reminded the public of the uncomfortable fact that an “astronomical amount” of the money sent to the IRS each year goes not to funding education or a single-payer healthcare system the U.S. supposedly can’t afford, but straight into the bloated coffers of the Pentagon.

The U.S. – China Tariff Dispute Is Really About Protecting US Global Corporate Dominance

***
To this point, it is worth emphasizing that no new tariffs have in fact been levied, by either the U.S. or Chinese governments. The first round of announced U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods are still subject to a public comment period before becoming effective, and the content of the second round has yet to be formally decided upon. Thus, both countries have time to back away from their threats.

Also significant is the fact that both countries are being careful about the products they are threatening to tax. For example, the Trump administration has carefully avoided talking about placing tariffs on

It is not hard to guess the reason why:>>>

Thousands Of US Troops Amass On Syrian Border For Military ‘Drill’

Thousands of U.S. Marines arrived in Jordan at around the same time the United States, the United Kingdom, and France were organizing a direct military strike on Jordan’s neighbor, Syria. Shortly after the US-led bombing of Syria over alleged chemical weapons use, the Marine took part in military drills.

According to Antimedia, nearly 3,600 U.S. troops, including roughly 1,800 Marines with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, arrived in Jordan for the start of an almost two-week training exercise known as Eager Lion.

Thousands of Marines and U.S. troops kicked off a major military training exercise that is reportedly set to include civilian evacuation operations, as well as chemical and biological drills. The drills followed the U.S.-led Anglo-alliance’s assault on neighboring Syria, which was allegedly in retaliation for a chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The situation between the US and Syria hasn't ended, by a long shot; I think that the US is waiting forwhat it believes is precisely the right time for another major strike against the country.

The questionsare, how long will Russia put up with this nonsense, and how will they respond?!?

Facebook Will FORCE All Users To Accept Being TRACKED Around The Internet

Facebook has finally responded to requests to stop tracking users for advertising. But they aren’t going to. Instead, Facebook is going to force all of those who continue to use their social media service to accept being tracked around the internet.

“People can choose to not be on Facebook if they want,” said Facebook Deputy Chief Privacy Officer Rob Sherman. Or, they will be forced to opt into being tracked everywhere they go, and that’s just the way it is. This decision was not made in the interest of the users of Facebook, but explicitly to keep the company’s business model “intact,” reported the Independent.

Some had suggested that the site will have to make major changes once a new European Union privacy law comes into effect. Many parts of those new regulations seem in direct conflict with Facebook’s business, including new rules about what information can be harvested about users. But that’s exactly why Facebook will explicitly demand that you opt into being tracked.

Abuses and Failures of U.S. Correctional Institutions: South Carolina’s Lethal Prison Riot that Left Seven Dead

Along with the seven prisoners who were killed, whose names and photos were published by the South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC), another 17 prisoners were wounded and are reportedly being treated. According to the SCDC’s official account of the incident posted on Facebook and Twitter, the fighting between prisoners lasted almost eight hours. At a press conference, SCDC Director Bryan Stirling said the lethal riot centered around rival gangs and contraband cell phones

“What we believe from initial investigation is that this was all about territory, about contraband, about cell phones,” Stirling said. “These folks are fighting about real money and real territory while they’re incarcerated.”

He also called on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to block signals from the cell phone tower located near the prison, saying that was something the Department of Corrections would be discussing with the FCC in the weeks to come.

Webmaster's Commentary:

American correctional institutions are engineered to fail, and to guarantee that the rates of recidivism remains high, to justify fat budgets for these departments.

Report Documents U.S. Recidivism Rates for Federal Prisoners

The article goes on to state:

Drawing on data on more than 25,400 former inmates who were either released outright from federal prisons or placed on probation in 2005, the 60-page report found almost half (49.3%) had, within the next eight years, been arrested again, whether for a new offense or for violating conditions of their parole or release. Among the offenders released or paroled in 2005, during the same period nearly a third (31.7%) had been re-convicted, with 24.7% of them also re-incarcerated."

Do these numbers look like the numbers of a corrections system which actually works?!?

The short answer is, Hell, no!!

By contrast, one only needs to look at the Norwegian prison system to see what is possible:

The most successful prison system in the worl is also the most radically humane

What we see here, is a far lower recivism rate (20%), and a real attempt at prisoner rehabilitation, rather than punishment. And it actually costs a lot less than US taxpayers shell out for a failed system.

Is Trump’s Broader War against Syria on Hold? A Member State of NATO is “Sleeping with the Enemy”: America is at War with both Syria and Turkey

However, there is an important element which has largely been neglected in recent independent media reports regarding Syria, which suggests that the US could take the decision NOT to engage in the conduct of a major military campaign at this particular juncture.

Why?

The structure of US military alliances is in crisis.

Military Strategy 101 tells us: you do not wage a major war when one of your key allies is “sleeping with the enemy”.

An understanding of the military structure of alliances including cross-cutting coalitions is absolutely crucial. So-called “enduring alliances” in support of America’s “Long War” can no longer be relied upon.

NATO is in crisis: The U.S. and several NATO member states are not only at war with Syria, they are also at war with Turkey which is fighting the US sponsored Kurdish rebel forces in Northern Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

NATO needs to figure out what it will do with its rogue member, Turkey; at the same time, Russia and China are drawing more and more countries into their orbits of influence, in terms of defense, economy, and geopolitics.

This, taken together, does not augur well for the waning influence of the US in these arenas; more and more, the US is presenting all the symptoms of an empire in deep decline.

Palestinian ex-prisoner: You sit there wishing you would die

Due to the presence of some 800 Israeli settlers, Hebron is exceptionally militarised, with the Israeli army imposing severe restrictions on everyday life and the movement of 40,000 Palestinians living there.

Many Palestinians have resorted to building metal enclosures around their homes to avoid being targeted by settlers who regularly hurl abusive comments, throw stones and attack them.

For Abu Sbeih, a particularly testing experience of the occupation came in December 2015 when she was arrested by the Israeli army for plotting, along with three of her nephews, to shoot and kill an Israeli settler in Hebron. According to Abu Sbeih, the settler, Anat Cohen, had for years harassed Palestinians in Hebron with regular and targeted abuse.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This has become the "new normal", in the treatment of Palestinians by the IDF; false charges; abuse; starvation; and indefinite detentions, which can be renewed at the whim of Israeli officials and no charges are ever filed.

This is why the BDS movement is critical right now; finance is a language the Israelis understand, since they cannot, collectively comprehend the obscene levels of inhumanity with which the Palestinian people are treated.

A Conversation on Race — Paul Craig Roberts

Considering that the only slavery experienced by any living black or white person is income tax slavery, race is an issue only because it has been orchestrated as an issue along with gender and sexual preference. These divisive issues are the products of Identity Politics spawned by cultural Marxism.
But orchestrated histories are not fact-based.

The working class, designated by Hillary Clinton as “the Trump deplorables,” is now the victimizer, not the victim. Marxism has been stood on its head.
In real Marxism, conflict is class conflict. Workers and capitalists have different interests, and history is a struggle between material interests. The capitalist is the villain and the workers are the victims.

In the pseudo Marxism of Identity Politics, the white race is the villain, especially the white heterosexual male, and racial minorities, women, and homosexuals are the victims.
But orchestrated histories are not fact-based.

Offer to Withdraw America's Troops from South Korea to Seal a Nuclear Deal with the North

An important challenge is the difference between the two leaders’ official expectations. The Trump administration presumably believes it has a commitment by Pyongyang to denuclearize. However, Kim, to the extent that he genuinely contemplates abandoning weapons so expensively acquired and so tightly connected to his own legitimacy, is likely willing to do so only over time, and in return for concessions that enhance his regime’s survivability. When I visited the North last year, officials well remembered the fate of Libya’s Muammar el-Qaddafi, who negotiated away his missile and nuclear programs, only to be later ousted by the United States and its European allies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This proposal is both sound and reasonable; which is why the current Administration will most probably reject it out of hand!!

And unfortunately, last week's Western bombing of Syria may well cement, in Kim Jung Un's thinking, that he can never let go of his nuclear capacities, because the potential future fate of Syria, which has no nuclear weapons, at the hands of the West.

Senators Offer Up Unprecedented War Powers to President

A bipartisan bill introduced in the Senate Monday would give the president sweeping authority to wage endless war anywhere in the world with limited congressional intervention.

It is an absolute blank check, and would be used as such by both President Trump and his successors.

US Opens New Military Base In Former ISIS Stronghold

So much for President Donald Trump's promises to pull US troops out of Syria.

Despite the US's insistence that it intends to pull troops out of Syria (at some point, possibly in the distant future), local media report that the US has set up a new military facility in Eastern Deir ez-Zor - not far from ISIS's last major stronghold in Syria, which was crushed by the Syrian Army back in November shortly before they declared victory against ISIS. The region is also known for being rich in oil.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The President we got with Trump was absolutely not the President those who supported him during the campaign, thought we were getting, based on his campaign promises.

I consider myself a reasonably articulate woman; however, that being said, I cannot begin to verbally express the profound disappointment I feel, watching the degree to which Trump has been turned into yet another Ziowarhawk, regarding the Middle East, and I fear that he will turn this region into an even further zone of desolation, destruction, and despair for its people, upon the orders of Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu.

There are moments when the international agendas of Israel and the US government align; but there are far too many moments when they do not, and any President of this nation who is fit to lead, has to have the horse-sense to understand that.

Regime-changing Damascus, into a Western-centric, and Western-compliant country means that Israel can continue to illegally occupy the Golan Heights, and continue to sell that region's oil, rather than the profits from those sales going, legitimately, to the Syrian government.

And then, there is the issue of the 6,000 LB gorilla, draped over the Busendorfer grand, in the living room; that issue is just how much Western nonsence Russia, which has been invited by the Syrian government to help defend it against the Western-backed jihadis, is willing to tolerate.

Folks, we are looking at a potential, full-on war against Russia over Syria, and the US military may well lose this war, because it does not have the weaponry; the troop strength; the manufacturing; or the money to insure a positive outcome here.

I am so looking forward to this government making smarter choices than it has during this administration; unfortunately, with both Israel and the US
military/industrial complex in control, that may only happen...either when pigs discover they are aerodynamic, or when the US government loses a military conflict in the most horrific, embarrassing, and crippling way possible.

Russia Sells Off Billions in US Debt Amid Skyrocketing Tensions

With the prospect of new US sanctions still looming on the horizon, Russia continues to cut its reserves of US government bonds.

According to updated figures provided by the US Treasury Department, in February, Russia’s hard currency reserves currently held in US Treasuries went down by $3.1 billion and now stand at $93.8 billion, the lowest level since March of last year.

Cashing Out: How New Sanctions Can Push Russia Into Dropping Its US Bonds
Russia still remains the world’s 16th largest holder of US government bonds. China holds the top spot with almost $1.8 trillion, trailed by Japan which has shed some of its US Treasuries.

If both Russia and China decide to collectively dump their US treasury holdings all at once, it is going to be a very lousy moment for US stock markets.

Lavrov on S-300 Supply: After West's Attack, We Mull All Options to Defend Syria

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry had stated that Russian-made air defense systems deployed by the Syrian forces managed to intercept 71 of 103 missiles, fired by the United States, France and the UK on April 14.

“Several years ago we decided not to supply S-300 systems to Syria at our partners’ request. Now, we will consider options to ensure the Syrian state’s security after this outrageous act of aggression from the United States, France and Great Britain,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the BBC.

Responding to the interviewer’s question whether the foreign minister was implying that the recent developments in Syria had made Russia rethink its stance on supplies of the S-300 long range surface-to-air missile systems, Lavrov said that Moscow was ready to consider any means to help the Syrian army curb further aggression.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The deployment of Russia's S-300 in Syria will be an absolute game-changer for any US/UK/French/Israeli plans of aggression against it.

PINK FLOYD FRONTMAN STOPS CONCERT TO EXPLAIN FALSE FLAG CHEMICAL ATTACK IN SYRIA

During a solo concert this week in Barcelona, Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters took a moment to address the audience about the recent bombing of Syria. Waters said he was approached by someone before the concert who wanted to get onstage and speak on behalf of the White Helmets about the alleged chemical attacks in Douma.

Instead of bringing the anonymous man onstage, Waters addressed the crowd on the issue himself, saying that he believes the White Helmets are a propaganda organization on a mission to justify Western intervention in the region. Cambridge Analytica ex-CEO refuses to testify in UK

Cambridge Analytica’s ex-CEO, Alexander Nix, has refused to testify before the U.K. Parliament’s media committee, citing British authorities’ investigation into his former company’s alleged misuse of data from millions of Facebook accounts in political campaigns.

Committee Chairman Damian Collins announced Nix’s decision a day before his scheduled appearance but flatly rejected the notion that he should be let off the hook, saying Nix hasn’t been charged with a crime and there are no active legal proceedings against him.

“There is therefore no legal reason why Mr. Nix cannot appear,” Collins said in a statement. “The committee is minded to issue a formal summons for him to appear on a named day in the very near future.”

The United States Army wants to develop a system that can be quickly integrated and deployed into its weaponized drone fleet to automatically Detect, Recognize, Classify, Identify (DRCI) and target enemy combatants and vehicles using artificial intelligence (AI). This is an impressive leap forward, whereas humans still operate current military drones, this technology could foster a new era of autonomous drones conducting operations in hybrid wars — without human oversight.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Do not think, for one moment, that this technology will not be used domestically against peaceful dissidents in this country, who have the nerve to question this government's agendas or motives.

EVEN WESTERN MAINSTREAM MEDIA IS REPORTING THAT NO CHEMICAL ATTACK TOOK PLACE IN DOUMA

On April 7th, an attack was carried out in the town of Douma, just a few kilometers out of Syria’s capital, Damascus, which was occupied by radical terrorist forces. The attack was peddled as a chemical weapons attack using chlorine gas, and it was additionally reported to have included some unknown nerve agent (which apparently the White Helmet guys who were filming the incident were somehow immune to), which was then said to have killed at least 75 people, and, according to the UK Prime Minister Theresa May, also resulted in the deaths of 500 more, all based on social media postings, based on what is being revealed to the public anyway, by groups that have known links and coincidental interests with the very radical terrorists that Western governments are claiming to be fighting.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: the US government and their lackeys in the UK and Europe are, yet again, lying through their teeth, and maintaining that something happened, which never, actually did, as justification for an attack against Syria.

And they have threatened more of the same, as UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, has stated.

This administration, goaded/blackmailed by Israel, will be satisfied with nothing less than a full-on confrontation military confrontation with Russia in Syria, which the US may well lose, because it doesn't have the money; the weaponry; the manufacturing; or the troop strength, to insure a positive outcome here.
