100K flee as Turks hit Kurdish zones in Syria; White House threatens sanctions

Turkey ramped up its air and artillery strikes against the Kurds in northeast Syria Friday — forcing 100,000 people to flee the battle, as the White House threatened Turkey with harsh sanctions.

The Kurds, who recaptured swaths of northeastern Syria from ISIS as US allies, said the Turkish assault could allow the jihadist group to re-merge.

That warning was highlighted Friday as the terror group claimed responsibility for a deadly car bomb in Qamishli, the biggest city in the Kurdish-held area, even as the city came under heavy Turkish shelling.

President Trump announced Saturday that he had authorized the release of $50 million in aid to human rights groups and other aid organizations in Syria in an apparent attempt to counter criticism of his pullout of U.S. forces there.

“Other presidents would not be doing that, they’d be spending a lot more money but on things that wouldn’t make you happy," Trump said while addressing the Values Voters Summit's Faith, Family and Freedom gala dinner.

CONVOY ATTACK Turkey ‘bombs convoy of foreign journalists and aid workers killing 14’ in Syria border town

AT least 14 people have been killed in a devastating Turkish air raid on a civilian convoy in Syria yesterday, according to reports.

Five civilians, including a journalist, died after they were attacked as they arrived at the Syrian border town of Ras al-Ain, that Turkish-allied forces have seized.

A Kurdish news agency Hawar said one of its reporters was killed in the attack which reportedly left dozens more injured.

Several foreign journalists were with the convoy - which was also carrying aid workers - when it was struck, according to France 2 television's Stéphanie Perez.

She tweeted: "We were in the convoy of Kurdish civilians targeted by Turkish forces and their allies at Ras al Ain. Our team is fine, but some colleagues are dead."

Armed men, who were reportedly guarding the convoy, were among those killed in the bombing.

'TERRIFYING AND TOTALLY PREDICTABLE': PENTAGON CONFIRMS US FORCES IN SYRIA CAME UNDER TURKISH ARTILLERY FIRE

According to the unnamed Pentagon official, "shelling by the Turkish forces was so heavy that the U.S. personnel considered firing back in self-defense." However, "instead of returning fire, the Special Forces withdrew once the shelling had ceased."

Jesus, this is terrifying and totally predictable.

"A senior Pentagon official said shelling by the Turkish forces was so heavy that the U.S. personnel considered firing back in self-defense."

Following Newsweek's report, a Pentagon spokesperson, Navy Captain Brook DeWalt, said in a statement that "the explosion occurred within a few hundred meters of a location outside the Security Mechanism zone and in an area known by the Turks to have U.S. forces present."

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF any Americans were, in fact, injured or killed by these Turkish incursions, I seriously doubt that the US government or military would want people here to know.

But there is a sister story, out of zerohedge.com, which I feel is important to share here;
"Compromise Or Genocide": Putin's 'Deal Of The Century' Rapidly Unfolding In Syria This article goes on to state:

"Currently Syrian Army convoys — including tanks and artillery — have begun deployment to northern Syrian battlefronts at a moment US troops have been confirmed in retreat. Syrian state media affirmed that Damascus is set to “confront a Turkish aggression” on Syrian territory, after what appears to be a major deal struck between Damascus and the main US-backed Syrian Kurdish groups.

This article is confirmed by a story in antiwar.com, leading with the following headline: Syrian MKurds,, Damascus reach a deal in Russian-backed talks

But here's the REALLY juicy bit:

"Kurds will hand key cities to Syrian Army to defend"

Syrian ground troops are moving north to confront invading Turkish forces per a deal that was reached by the Kurdish SDF and the Assad government, in talks brokered by Russia and held on a Russian air base.

The deal sees the Kurds unilaterally handing over two important cities, Kobane and Manbij, both in the Aleppo Province, to the central government to rule. This means Turkey’s invasion of those cities would be a direct invasion of Syrian cities under government control. Those two cities are also where Syria’s Army is heading first. This would make Turkey attacking those cities more controversial, and also raises the possibility of Russia intervening on the government’s behalf.

I can just see Russian President Vlad Putin, laughing his head off, that the none of the American decision-makers on this war, absolutely never saw this coming, after throwing our multi-year military partners, the Kurds, to the Turkish wolves.

Things are moving at the speed of greased lightning here; please keep your eyes open for the next "US-dealt Russian checkmate" in this confrontation, and you will probably know very quickly what Putin's vision is for the Syrian government, and the future of both the Kurdish, and Syrian people.

Putin Planning "Deal Of The Century" Between Syria & Turkey As US Exits

If he pulls it off,the Nobel Peace Prize and he will deserve it!

Lebanese Arabic news broadcaster Al-Mayadeen is reporting that Russia has begun organizing "reconciliation talks" between Syria and Turkey, in what would be an unprecedented development, given President Erdogan's position has long been that Turkey won't negotiate with Damascus so long as Assad is in power.

The Middle East broadcaster cited Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who said, "Moscow will ask for start of talks between Damascus and Ankara".

Russia's TASS has also confirmed the initiative, making it the first significant attempt to bring the two sides to the table, given Ankara severed diplomatic ties with Damascus in 2012. Turkey could indeed be ready given it has finally gotten its way in Syria — with a long planned attack on Syrian Kurds along the border in northern Syria, which began Wednesday with an air and ground offensive.

Turkey Warns Of War As Syrian Army Heads To Turkish Border

update2: A top Turkish official warns of bigger escalation now that Syrian Army units appear to be heading to besieged Kurdish towns along the border with Turkey.

It's as yet unclear what the Russian military's role in supporting its Syrian ally will be; however, we could be witnessing the beginnings of Putin's 'deal of the century' unfolding, as we explained previously.

Putin is capitalizing on the chaotic retreat of the US & Turkey's brutality toward the Kurds in order to assert Russia's leadership. He contrasts how Russia has stood beside its beleaguered ally, Syria, while the US has abandoned both its allies, the Kurds and the Turks. https://t.co/NjBYZzwKCG

U.S.-allied Kurds strike deal to bring Assad’s Syrian troops back into Kurdish areas

Oct. 13, 2019 at 1:47 p.m. PDT
BEIRUT — Syrian government troops began moving into towns near the Turkish border Sunday night under a deal struck with Syrian Kurds, following a chaotic day that saw the unraveling of the U.S. mission in northeastern Syria.

By the time Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper appeared on Face the Nation to announce that President Trump had ordered the final withdrawal of the 1,000 U.S. troops in northeastern Syria, it was already clear that the U.S. presence had become unsustainable, U.S. officials said.

The announcement by the Syrian Democratic Forces that they had reached an agreement with the Iranian and Russian-backed government of President Bashar al-Assad further undermined the prospect of any continued U.S. presence in the country. The deal brings forces loyal to Assad back into towns and cities that have been under Kurdish control for seven years.

Empire Uses Kurds as Pawns in its Imperial Pursuits in Syria

The situation in the North East of Syria regarding the Kurds seems to be a topic of confusion for most. Understandably so as they have been made to appear by US politicians and news outlets as the most effective fighters against terrorism in Syria. Although they have in fact been successful in driving out terrorists in some areas there is information that needs to be discussed that explains the other half of the story that is purposely hidden in the Kurdish and mainstream media news outlets. We have only been hearing from the Kurdish side now it’s time for the Syrians in Kurdish held areas to have their chance to tell us about the hardships they have been put under by the Kurds.

The Myth of the Kurdish YPG’s Moral Excellence

It’s difficult to determine with precision how many Kurds are in Syria, but it’s clear that the ethnic group comprises only a small percentage of the Syrian population (less than 10 percent according to the CIA, and 8.5 percent according to an estimate cited by Nikolaos Van Dam in his book The Struggle for Power in Syria.

While the estimates are rough, it’s clear that Kurds make up a fairly small proportion of the Syrian population and that the number of the group’s members living in Syria as a proportion of the Kurd community as a whole is very small.

“Most of those who are fighting in Afrin against the Syrian Kurds are isis, though Turkey has trained them to change their assault tactics,” said Faraj, a former isis fighter from north-east Syria who remains in close touch with isis.

Assad Government Saves Christianity in Syria

Syria is being reborn, and its religious pluralism is being resurrected, sometimes literally from the ashes.

The ancient town of Maaloula, where Aramaic, the language of Christ, is still spoken, where St. Takla miraculously cured the sick, where NATO’s takfiri terrorists committed massacres, and destroyed shrines, churches, and mosques, is yet again an example of the religious pluralism typical of the Levant.

Yet again it is attracting people from Syria, Lebanon, and beyond to its sacred sites, ensconced, in the “land of the prophets.”

The twisted ideology and barbarity of the West’s terrorist proxies is gone now.

The Syrian Arab Army defeated Western imperialism here, and the Syrian government promises to continue its righteous fight until every inch of Syria has been liberated.

This frantic coup to impeach Trump on phony nebulous charges didn't materialize until after Trump refused to attack Iran over the drone shootdown. This is payback from the same people who gave us 911....Israel!!!

The most likely candidate is the one actor who has consistently overstepped its bounds in attacking neighbors it considers hostile for any reason. Israel.

If the neocons and Israeli Firsters in Congress (and formerly in his cabinet) have turned on Trump to the point of starting impeachment proceedings against him for not going to war with Iran, then Trump is free to finally just blow it all wide open.

Which is exactly what he is doing. The Kurds were simply mercenaries to help us defeat ISIS. Job’s done, your beef with Turkey is your problem.

Debunking the Putin and Netanyahu/Israel work together canard (final installment)

This will not be an analysis or even a commentary. Neither am I siding with, or expressing support for, the Turkish military operation in norther Syria. Finally, I am not discussing the legitimacy (or lack thereof) of the Kurdish Independence movement. All I propose to do here, is to draw your attention to a series of facts and logical imperatives which, in my opinion debunk and falsify the disinformation campaign aimed at convincing us that Putin and Netanyahu are working hand in glove or, even better, that Putin is a puppet of the Israelis. So, with that in mind, here we go:

Russia, US veto European statement on Turkey's Syria action

Russian and the United States have used their veto power at the United Nations Security Council to vote down a European statement against Turkey's invasion of northern Syria.

The council held a closed meeting on Thursday to discuss Ankara's military incursion, which began on Wednesday despite widespread warnings by world leaders.

Moscow and Washington had their own reasons to veto the statement by five European members — France, Germany, Belgium, Britain and Poland — who had called the meeting to end the bilateral military action.

In a joint statement after the discussions, the European called on Ankara "to cease the unilateral military action," warning that the offensive threatens progress.

Russian UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia said his country would only support UNSC motions that address broader issues, including the presence of foreign forces in Syria.

Trump, who pulled US troops out of the area at the start of the week before the Turkish attack, said on Twitter that the United States had three options.

He again defended his abrupt decision to pull out of northern Syria, allowing Turkey to attack Kurdish towns, at a campaign rally in Minneapolis, Minnesota, last night.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – OCTOBER 11, 2019: TURKISH FORCES STORMING TELL ABYAD, RAS AL-AYN

Since October 9, the Turkish Armed Forces and Turkish-backed militants have been developing a ground phase of their operation against Kurdish armed groups in northeastern Syria.

The main Turkish efforts were focused on the towns of Ras al-Ayn and Tell Abyad. Turkey-led forces captured several villages surrounding the towns and event entered Tell Abyad. Nonetheless, the situation in the area remains unstable. It is expected that the Syrian Democratic Forces, a brand used by mainstream media to describe the YPG and the YPJ, will be able to defend fortified urban areas until they are not encircled.

Ankara views the US-backed YPG as a terrorist organization tied to the homegrown Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militant group, which has been seeking an autonomous Kurdish region in Turkey since 1984.

The YPG constitutes the backbone of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an anti-Damascus alliance of predominantly Kurdish militants.

U.S. “Military Aid” to Al Qaeda, ISIS-Daesh

Author’s Note and Update

This article was first published by Global Research on October 2, 2016.

The United States and its allies use arms trafficking –i.e. the unregulated illicit trade in light weapons through private traders including organized crime–, to channel large amounts of weapons and ammunition to the terrorists inside Syria.

The US led coalition uses the illicit trade in light weaponry produced in Eastern Europe, the Balkans, China, etc. for delivery to rebel groups inside Syria, including ISIS-Daesh and Al Nusra. In turn, operating out of the occupied Golan Heights, Israel’s IDF has provided weapons, ammunition, logistical support to Al Qaeda rebels operating in Southern Syria.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – OCTOBER 9, 2019: SDF SEEKS COOPERATION WITH ‘BLOODY ASSAD’ AGAINST TURKEY

The withdrawal of US troops from the Turkish border has caused a kind of panic among the leadership of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, which mostly consist of Kurdish militias.

On October 7, the group already speculated that the Syrian Army is preparing to capture the town of Manbij taking an upper hand of the US troops’ withdrawal. The Syrian military in fact deployed reinforcements near the area. Pro-government sources say the army is preparing to act in response to a possible Turkish military operation.

On October 8, the Turkish Armed Forces announced that they had carried out strikes on the Syrian-Iraqi border in order to prevent Kurdish groups from using the route to reinforce their positions in northeastern Syria. Ankara expects that units of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which it recognizes as a terrorist group, could be re-deployed from northern Iraq to the Syrian-Turkish border.

Now busy defending themselves against Turkish air and ground forces, the SDF has announced "the suspension of all operations against ISIS."

Turkey's Anadolu Agency reports multiple rockets were launched from Kurdish positions in Syria's Qamishli, landing in the center of the Turkish border town of Nusaybin. Turkey will use the Kurdish response as justification for a more aggressive aerial response, with reports suggesting there could already be up to 200 Turkish warplanes in the air currently.

Turkish state media has claimed its invading forces have killed 6 SDF fighters, which it labeled "terrorists", and further cited sporadic shelling on its border towns from SDF positions.

This is the only choice Syrian Kurds have. A rapprochement with Syria. With the Kurds back in the Syrian fold US troop deployment will be untenable. Neither the Iranians,Syrians or Russians are screaming bloody murder against the Turkish invasion of NE Syria as of yet. I see Putin's genius behind this. And remember the Bridge.

A top Kurdish official says the Kurdish forces controlling northern Syria may open talks with Damascus and Russia, after the United States announced it was withdrawing troops from the area in the wake of Ankara’s looming military operation against Kurdish militants from the People's Protection Units (YPG).

“If America vacates the area and especially the border area for certain we, as a self administration and as the SDF, will be forced to study all the available options,” Badran Jia Kurd told Reuters news agency on Tuesday.

The Truth About This "Independent Kurdistan": Criminal Israeli Foreign Ministry Spokesman States That Independent Kurdistan Will Be A "SECOND ISRAEL" Where Israel Can Weaken Russia And Iran!

Yes, today is the day when the formal announcement of an "Independent Kurdistan" is made and that bogus nation takes form in northern Iraq and very soon northern Syria as well.... I have said for the longest time that this is a HUGE mistake by the Kurds as they will foolishly play right into the sick and twisted game of the US-Israel criminal cabal.... It will only lead to more bloodshed in the entire region (which is exactly what the psychos in Israel want) and could lead to a mass genocide of the Kurdish people....

Scientific paper arguing Assad not responsible for Syria chemical attack shelved after Bellingcat-led backlash

Unidentified “issues” prompted a prestigious scientific journal to withhold publication of a report challenging the mainstream narrative on a 2017 Syrian chemical attack – after ‘citizen investigation’ outlet Bellingcat objected.

The report, authored by MIT professor emeritus Theodore Postol and six other experts, concludes that the Syrian government was not behind the alleged sarin attack which killed more than 80 people at Khan Sheikhoun in April 2017.

Experts warned at the time that responsibility could not be so quickly determined, but that did not stop US President Donald Trump from launching 59 cruise missiles at a Syrian airbase in response.

Syria - Trump Gives A Green Light For Another Turkish Invasion

Erdogan wants to take a 30 kilometer deep strip including the M4 highway which runs west to east in that area.

But the border area Erdogan marked is quite populated with some 850,000 people living there. Most of them are Kurds.

There is only one solution for them. They will have to call up the Syrian government and ask it to come back into the north east. That would remove the Turkish concerns and would likely prevent further Turkish moves.

China’s New Silk Road through Syria provokes the US: The Sanctions only help China’s power to grow

A map of the likely final routes of the land and sea trade corridors which China is working to build in cooperation with local nations along the route goes a long way in explaining why the United States is conducting troop exercises, engaging in military conflicts and threatening new military conflicts in key spots along the New Silk Road.

The following map shows the routes of China’s New Silk Road. Each number corresponds to an area where US troops or their allies are either active in a conflict zone or have recently engaged in military exercises.

Damascus main forces are gearing up for a mass crossing of the Euphrates

DEIR EZ-ZOR /Syria/, September 26. /TASS/. Russian road service military experts have erected a bridge across the Euphrates River, a few kilometers away from Deir ez-Zor in northeastern Syria. It will be used to deploy military equipment and troops to the eastern river bank.

The bridge is 210 meters long. It can serve 8,000 cars a day. The bridge supports heavy armored vehicles, such as tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and multiple-launch rocket systems, Burovtsev said. The bridge will also be used for aid convoys to liberated communities and medical evacuations.

US gives green light to Turkey to launch military operation in north Syria

The United States has given the green light to Turkey to launch a military operation against Washington's long-time Kurdish allies in northern Syria.

The decision came after a phone conversation between US President Donald Trump and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday.

“Turkey will soon be moving forward with its long-planned operation into northern Syria,” the White House said in a statement.

Syrian war update: Russia builds bridge across the Euphrates

ALEXANDER MERCOURIS
Editor-in-Chief at The Duran.

The US proxy war against Russia in Syria is not being fought so much as it is being lost
In the complex three cornered fight for Deir Ezzor province in eastern Syria between the Russian backed Syrian army, the US backed Kurdish militia, and ISIS, the Russians and the Syrians have just taken a dramatic step to gain for themselves strategic dominance over the other two.

This takes the form of a bridge built apparently built under fire from ISIS in just two days by Russian engineers across the Euphrates river near the city of Deir Ezzor, which will make possible the sending of armoured units of the Syrian army across the Euphrates river to bring the fight against ISIS and conceivably the Kurdish militia to the territories they occupy on the river’s east bank.

Turkey-Syria border: Kurds bitter as US troops withdraw

US troops have begun withdrawing from positions in northern Syria, paving the way for a Turkish operation against Kurdish fighters in the border area.

Kurdish-led forces have until now been a key US ally in Syria, where they helped defeat the Islamic State group, but Turkey regards them as terrorists.

The main Kurdish-led group called the surprise US move a "stab in the back".

But President Donald Trump defended the pullout, saying it was time "to get out of these ridiculous Endless Wars".

From one of my top intel sources: a Russian S-500 missile battery is installed in one of the warships off the coast of Syria. The Russians obviously will not be forced into using it - as no one is going to attack a Russian warship. It is there with a specific purpose – and that, only the Defense Ministry knows.

Yes, you read it right: S-500. Which has already been tested. And the S-600 has already been designed.

David Icke: Who Did 9/11 and Why? Part One of a Two-Part Interview

David Icke’s new book The Trigger really triggers some people…like The Washington Post‘s passive-aggressive book reviewer Ron Charles, who brags, shedding crocodile tears all the while: “I banned a book. Or at least I helped get it banned, which makes Banned Books Week a little awkward for me this year.”

If Icke is such a nut, and The Trigger is just “harebrained word vomit,” why would anyone—least of all a Washington Post book reviewer who pretends to hate censorship—feel the need to have it banned? The likely answer, of course, is that Charles knows or suspects, consciously or unconsciously, that Israel was behind 9/11.(1)

And why wouldn’t he? Even the most naive and cursory observer of 21st century geopolitics can see that Israel was the biggest beneficiary of 9/11, which brainwashed the whole world to hate Israel’s Muslim enemies, and hijacked the American military to attack and/or destroy nations that Israel considered a threat.

Syrian, Iranian and Russian forces started a joint military drill, involving heavy military equipment, rocket launchers and warplanes, on October 1, al-Watan newspaper reported on October 2. According to al-Watan, the drills coincided with a series of protests against the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces in northeastern Syria.

Pro-government sources speculate that the military drill is a warning to the US-backed group. During the past few months, several sources claimed that the US-led coalition and the SDF is planning an attack on the Syrian Army on the western bank of the Euphrates.

Trump Administration Reignites War Against Syria

The neocons are not about to give up and admit defeat. Due primarily to Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah, the presence of the Islamic State is now considerably reduced in Syria.

This is, of course, unacceptable for the neocons and Trump’s State Department, so last week Sec. State Pompeo accused Syria once again of using chemical weapons.

There is no evidence this incident occurred. This is the case with all of the supposed chemical attacks in Syria.

From The Guardian, May 22, 2019.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So what is the White House's next step in this flummoxed, fluster-cluck of an accusation?!?

And to all people familiar with how this stuff works out there, who are also Rivero's Rangers; IF this actual attack happened last May, how reasonably long, please, before an incontrovertible verdict to come back as to whether, or whether this was not a use of chemical weapons?!?

So is DC going to decree that all Iranian ships be interdicted in the High Seas, for fear of carrying their oil to some other part of the world?!?

And would such action not be tantamount to a declaration of war against both Syria and Iran?!?

Folks, this is absolute madness, writ large.

Israel Believed Behind Overnight Attack On Iran's 'Land Bridge' From Iraq To Syria

Another mystery airstrike was conducted over Iraq late Friday night, after a summer that's witnessed Baghdad blame Israel for a series of unprecedented violations of its airspace to carry out alleged strikes on Iran-linked Shia militias in the country.

This newest incident involved an attack on Imam Ali base near the border with Syria, in an area which Israeli defense officials have voiced concern Iran is utilizing Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) to aid Syrian forces in establishing a security corridor stretching along the Syrian-Iraq border, or so-called Iranian "land bridge".

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – SEPTEMBER 30, 2019: SYRIAN ARMY PREPARES TO RESUME IDLIB ADVANCE

The Syrian Army and its allies are preparing to resume ground operations against radical militants in Greater Idlib, according to pro-government sources.

Over the past few days, helicopters of the Syrian Air Force have carried out multiple airstrikes on positons of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other al-Qaeda-linked groups in northern Lattakia and northwestern Hama. Especially intense airstrikes were reported near Kabani and across the al-Ghab Plains.

Meanwhile, Idlib militant groups are working to prevent evacuation of civilians from the area. They see the local population near the frontline as a useful tool of defending their military positions, often located near civilian infrastructure objects. Since the start of September, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham has repeatedly shelled the Abu al-Duhur humanitarian corridor opened by the Syrian Army.

Washington Sends Arms and Logistic Equipment to Its Occupation Forces in Syria

Washington had sent over the past hours new reinforcements to its occupation troops in Syria, according to local sources in Qameshli.

The convey crossed the countryside of Malekeyeh city to the north-east of Hasaka and it was delivered to the US occupation troops in the Syrian Jazeera area.

On the 22nd of this month, Washington sent to its militia [the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Its Arabic acronym is QASAD] 175 trucks carrying weapons and logistic equipment.

In the mid of this month, the US occupation forces sent a convey composed of 150 trucks loaded with militarily and logistic reinforcements to the SDF militias through the same crossing.

Putin accuses Trump of condoning terrorism after hefty sanctions

VLADIMIR PUTIN has accused Donald Trump of condoning terrorism in response to the US' sanctions placed on Syria.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said Trump is trying to quash efforts to combat extremism in the crisis stricken state, where Putin has helped prop up controversial President Bashar al-Assad. A statement reads: "Masks have finally fallen off as we are talking about direct plans to prevent complete elimination of terrorists on the Syrian territory. "The Russian side has long noted with worry that Washington is 'supervising' terrorists from Jebhat al-Nusra and Heyat Tahrir al-Sham, provides them with everything necessary and tries to shield them from strikes even though there are direct successors of al-Qaeda and are recognised as terrorist organisations everywhere."

Syrian Army Prepares for Escalation in Golan Heights

On September 21, an EW unit of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) intercepted and took control of a large quadcopter-style unmanned aerial vehicle over the town of Erneh, near the contact line between the SAA and the Israeli-occupied part of the Golan Heights.

According to local sources, the UAV was likely operated by Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) used similar UAVs in its attack on a Hezbollah media center in Lebanon’s Beirut on August 25. In own turn, Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee, a spokesman for the Israeli military, claimed that the UAV was not belonging to the IDF. Lt. Col. Adraee said that the UAV may have been “Iranian”.

Following the incident, the SAA has reinforced its positions near the Golan Heights.

The situation is escalating in the southern part of the Idlib de-escalation zone, where militants have resumed their attacks on government positions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So we have come to the point, where Israel and Syria duking it out militarily, over the Golan; this could get nasty in a heartbeat.

And please do not forget; Russia has aided Syria, militarily, when it was fighting the US-trained, equipped, and jihadist groups were allowed to function.

Crises – the Middle-East and a few hopefully useful pointers

The Middle-East is literally exploding: the Houthis have delivered an extremely effective blow against Saudi oil production which (so they claim) has now dropped by 50% before bouncing back; there are persistent rumors that Russian Su-35S and S-400 has threatened to shoot down Israeli aircraft attacking Syria; Lebanon has declared that it will defend itself against Israeli attacks; Hezbollah has been threatening to deliver crippling strikes on Israel and even Israeli officials; Turkey has purchased Russian air defenses and says that if the USA refuses to deliver their F-35S, then Turkey will consider Su-35s and even maybe Su-57’s. Bibi Netanyahu tried to use Putin for his reelection campaign (well, he really is trying desperately to stay out of jail) but had to go home empty handed and, according to the JP, his mission was a failure.

BY MARCEL DETTMER ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2019INTERNATIONAL POLITICS
Largely unnoticed by the Western media, the Syrian government under Bashar al-Assad issued a general amnesty for crimes committed prior to that date on September 14, 2019. The "Decree No. 20" is part of a series of previous pardon - as it had been in the autumn of last year, an amnesty for deserters and conscientious objectors - is new, however, that the decision also concerns the civilian area. The aim is to make it easier, especially for Syrian refugees, to return to the largely peaceful country.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – SEPTEMBER 20, 2019: RUSSIA GAVE SYRIA ‘GREEN LIGHT’ TO USE S-300

On September 19, the Syrian Air Defense Forces shot down an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) over the town of Aqraba, south of Damascus. Pro-government sources claim that the intercepted UAV was likely operated by Israel.

On August 25, two Hezbollah members were killed by Israeli strikes in the same area. These strikes and the incident with Israeli drones in Beirut led to a local escalation between Hezbollah and the Israeli military at the Lebanese-Israeli contact line on September 1. Since then and until September 19, the situation around Damascus and in southern Lebanon have remained relatively calm.

The al-Qaeda-affiliated militant coalition Wa Harid al-Muminin announced that its forces had shelled positions of the Syrian Army near the area of al-Mashari’a. In a separate development, Idlib militants shelled the Abu al-Duhur humanitarian corridor with mortars in an attempt to prevent civilians from leaving the militant-held area.
