Here’s a Lesson From the 108,000 Millionaires Who Left Their Home Countries Last Year

By Simon Black, Sovereign Man

According to a recent report from Bloomberg, more than 108,000 millionaires left their home countries last year in search of greener pastures.

Most emigrated from countries like China and Russia… no surprise there.

India also saw a large outflow of millionaires as tax authorities tightened their grip. And Turkey continues to see an exodus, in the wake of strong-man President Erdogan.

But Western countries like France and England also lost boat loads (or planes full) of millionaires. Excessive taxation is the most obvious reason...

Big corporations pay no income tax, unlike you

Telling you that Donald Trump lied, or that the one percent continue to succeed in their incessant class warfare, ranks in the astonishment department with being told the Sun rose in the east this morning. Do we really need more evidence?

Necessary or not, more evidence continues to be delivered. The latest delivery comes courtesy of the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, which has found that 60 of the largest corporations in the United States paid no income taxes for 2018 despite earning a composite $79 billion in net income. Worse, these companies actually received $4.3 billion in tax rebates.

Had these companies paid taxes at the newly reduced corporate tax rate of 21 percent, these companies would have paid $16.4 billion in taxes. So we have a difference of more than $20 billion

California’s High-Speed Train Makes Solyndra Look Like a Bargain

By David Boaz

The ongoing saga of California’s high-speed bullet train may end up being as classic a story of Democratic politicians’ hubris as the Solyndra debacle. The difference is that the bullet train is still going—well, not the train itself, but the taxpayer spending on the planning—despite some optimism earlier this year that Gov. Gavin Newsom was going to put the project out of its misery. A Los Angeles Times story last week by Ralph Vartabedian is a deep dive on the consulting companies that have been intimately involved in the whole process. Here’s the most revealing nugget...

US Sees First Military Expenditure Increase Since 2010

Report: Global Military Expenditure at 3-Decade High, Biggest Spender US Sees First Increase Since 2010
The world has spent $1.8 trillion on its military in 2018, and the US is leading the charge, while some of its NATO allies are also buffing their war budgets citing the Russian threat despite Moscow decreasing its military spending.

***
The tensions between countries in Asia as well as between China and the USA are major drivers for the continuing growth of military spending in the region,” Pieter Wezeman, a senior researcher at the SIPRI Arms and Military Expenditure (AMEX) program, stated.

While Washington has been an undisputed leader of the chart for years, last year it upped its game even more, increasing its military spending for the first time since 2010. The surge in US defense spending is a direct reflection of the Trump administration's policy, according to SIPRI.

"The increase in US spending was driven by the implementation from 2017 of new arms procurement programs under the Trump administration">>>

"You Have Nothing, But Money": Trump Says US Losing Its A** Defending Saudi Arabia

US President Donald Trump once again humiliated the regime in Riyadh, saying he likes the leader of Saudi Arabia, but Washington is protecting King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his son Mohammad bin Salman (MbS), therefore the oil-rich kingdom should pay more money.
“Look, Saudi Arabia, very rich country, we defend them, we subsidize Saudi Arabia. They have nothing but cash, right? We subsidize them. And they buy a lot from us, $450 billion they bought,” Trump said during a rally in Wisconsin on Saturday.

Trump's tax bill allows twice as many companies to pay zero taxes

The tax plan introduced by the administration of US President Donald Trump has allowed twice as many companies to pay zero taxes, according to a recent report.

The report by the Center for Public Integrity revealed that under the Trump tax plan, which is officially known as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, corporate tax rates were lowered from 35 percent to 21 percent resulting in the number of companies paying no taxes to go from 30 to 60 in its first year.

The Washington, DC-based think-tank, the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) found that the number of companies exempted from taxes was more than twice as many as ITEP found roughly, per year.

Many of the country's largest publicly-held corporations have reported that they owe absolutely nothing on the billions of dollars in profits they earned last year, it said.

Here's New Mexico Militia Leader Johnny Horton Jr.'s Bizarre Arrest Record

Very interesting.Anybody arrested for felon in possession of a firearm would get 15 months prison time by the feds. No federal charges until this little stunt. This fellow is working for somebody IMHO. Even if this article is from the SPLC.

Horton’s fundraising attempts were documented in November in a Hatewatch article about how caravan paranoia was sowing division among militia diehards. The article revealed that Horton’s real name is Larry Hopkins, a fact he fails to make clear in his group’s fundraising pitches on PayPal and GoFundMe. Since then, Hopkins, 69, has increased the amount of money he’s asking for to more than $12,000, having already surpassed his previous goal of $2,500.

Now, Hatewatch has obtained records that show there’s more to Hopkins’ history than just his fictitious name and elaborate claims.

The Income Tax: Lessons from the Sixteenth Amendment

By Mark Brandly

“The income tax is “undoubtedly the most totalitarian of all taxes.”1 ~Murray Rothbard

At the founding of our country, the framers of our Constitution wisely withheld the right to tax incomes from the federal government. With the recent Revolutionary War in mind, the States were reluctant to cede strong taxing powers to a central state.

Given the enormous change in how this country regards the income tax, it is instructive to consider its origins. Studying this evolution may result in lessons that illuminate current debates...

List of Tax Hikes in Sanders “Medicare for All” Plan

Self-avowed socialist and Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has released his proposal for a government takeover of the American healthcare system. The proposal, which Sanders calls “Medicare for All,” replaces private insurance with government as the single payer.

Rather than including financing mechanisms in the legislation, Sanders released a set of tax hike “options” that would be paired with the proposal.

These tax hikes would hit American families at every income level and businesses large and small. The proposal increases taxes by $16.2 trillion over the next decade, according to an estimate of Americans for Tax Reform.

This would pay for roughly half of the cost of single payer healthcare, which costs between $32 trillion and $36 trillion according to estimates.

Alberta in Canada has Tried a Carbon Tax — It’s Been a Disaster

By Robert P. Murphy

The Fraser Institute in Canada recently released my study critiquing the province of Alberta’s approach to carbon pricing. My analysis for Fraser confirms what I’ve been arguing on the pages of IER for years: in the United States, conservatives and libertarians should run from any “carbon tax deal” that promises to shrink the size of government while battling climate change. No matter their promises, in practice government-imposed “carbon pricing” schemes never live up to the guidelines for “efficiency” laid down by their proponents. In this post I’ll illustrate myth vs. reality in the case of Alberta...

HOW SOME STATES DID NOT LEGALLY RATIFY THE 16TH AMENDMENT

Bill Benson's findings, published in "The Law That Never Was," make a convincing case that the 16th amendment was not legally ratified and that Secretary of State Philander Knox was not merely in error, but committed fraud when he declared it ratified in February 1913. What follows is a summary of some of the major findings for many of the states, showing that their ratifications were not legal and should not have been counted.

The 16th amendment had been sent out in 1909 to the state governors for ratification by the state legislatures after having been passed by Congress. There were 48 states at that time, and three-fourths, or 36, of them were required to give their approval in order for it to be ratified. The process took almost the whole term of the Taft administration, from 1909 to 1913.

Apr 04 15:54

Defects in Ratification of the 16th Amendment

The Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States was never ratified by a majority of the sovereign States.

This is the Amendment that allegedly entitled the Federal Agent (government) in the Federal territory of Washington, D.C. and their private collection company, the IRS, to collect “income tax” as falsely declared to be ratified in February 1913.

After an exhaustive year long search of legislative records in 48 sovereign states (Alaska & Hawaii were not admitted into the Union until after 1913). The only record of the 16th Amendment having been confirmed was a proclamation made by the Secretary of State Philander Knox on February 25, 1913, wherein he simply declared it to be “in effect”, but never stating it was lawfully ratified.

Apr 03 14:16

Silenced!

On January 10, 2008, the Federal District Court in Chicago issued a permanent injunction against Bill Benson on the grounds that by offering information demonstrating that the 16th Amendment was not legally ratified, he was promoting an abusive tax shelter. The Court then refused to look at the government-certified documentary evidence, deciding instead that the facts necessary to prove his statements true were "irrelevant."

What has America come to when the government we created to protect our rights can accuse us of lying and then prohibit us from presenting a defense in a court of law?

Study Estimates the Green New Deal to Cost $93 Trillion — That’s a Conservative Estimate

By Robert P. Murphy

Both fans and foes of the so-called Green New Deal (GND) agree that it is a wildly ambitious set of proposals, which—by design—will involve the federal government spending boatloads of money. In fact, the GND is so expensive that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has cited the inflationary doctrine of Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) to deflect the issue; we don’t need to worry about the cost of the Green New Deal, so the argument goes, because the Federal Reserve can create an unlimited number of dollars.

DOJ Concludes Obamacare Unconstitutional And Should Be Struck Down

Trump Administration’s Move to Gut Obamacare Raises Risks for 2020

The Trump administration is hardening its position against the Affordable Care Act and arguing now that the entire law is unconstitutional, a shift that promises to bring the issue to the forefront of the 2020 election campaign.

The position is a change for the Justice Department after it argued last year that swaths of the 2010 law -- but not all of it -- should be struck down in the case Texas brought against the government. It’s now on appeal after a lower court judge voided the law in a December ruling. The Justice Department now says that President Barack Obama’s signature legislative achievement should be wiped out.

NJ Governor Signs “Rain Tax” Bill; Residents Can Now BE TAXED When It Rains On Their Property

In what is one of the most corrupt and vile things to have ever happened to the American political system, residents of New Jersey will now be taxed when something 100% out of their control happens. New Jersey’s governor Phil Murphy signed 19 bills into law on Monday, one of which, was the so-called “rain tax.”

Unfortunately, there were supporters of this tyrannical and wholly dictatorial law. Dubbed S-1073, supporters call it “flood defense,” and say it will serve as a long-needed tool to manage flooding and dirty runoff from rainwater. So there are actually human beings on earth who want others and themselves stolen from because it rains. There is nothing more disturbing that the current political path the United States is currently one. It’s downright horrifying, actually.

The Obama Legacy

I’ve asked dozens of friends and acquaintances if there is any limit on how much federal, state and local governmental entities can take from their citizens. Most look at me with a blank stare. Most have never given it a thought.

Clearly the thought has not crossed the minds of many in Congress. We hear some, those that are proudly labeling themselves as “socialists,” righteously telling us the rich need to pay their “fair share.” The most vocal are calling for a 70% to 90% tax rate on the “rich.”

These pontificating self-righteous paragons of nothing certainly have not considered the question of whether there is a limit on how much government can take from its citizens.

Prior to 1913 the limit on the federal government was effectively set by denying it most tools for taking citizens’ earnings. America’s first totalitarian socialist president, Woodrow Wilson, pushed through the 16th Amendment to the Constitution. This allowed the Feds to tax our individual income.

Top US General Denies Plans to Leave 1,000 Troops in Syria

US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joe Dunford issued a statement Monday denying weekend media reports that the US plans to leave around 1,000 troops in Syria, saying the reports are “factually incorrect.”

Dunford presented the current planned “residual force” as 200, saying that this hadn’t changed since February. The US announced 200 would stay on February 21, but on February 22 officially increased that number to 400.

It’s not clear from Dunford’s statement where the “incorrect” aspect of the new report, which came out of a Wall Street Journal, exists. That report suggested that the 1,000 figure was not yet finalized, but was being discussed. Dunford’s comments didn’t include any details on what is actually being discussed, but just that nothing was finalized.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think the multiple troop numbers being given, are simply a way of creating confusion about how many US troops the US does have in Syria.
