UK military drone operators could be ‘liable for murder prosecution,’ report suggests

UK military personnel engaging in US-led drone operations in Syria and Iraq are at risk of being “liable to prosecution for murder” due to the government not setting a "clear policy and sound legal basis," a report warns.

There is a growing concern that the UK was complicit in civilian deaths by supporting a US-led drone program that was committing unlawful acts - making British personnel open to prosecution, the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) report said.

"In its current form, assistance to partners is putting the UK and its personnel at risk of criminal liability. UK use of force or assistance to partners in drone strikes outside situations of armed conflict are not protected by combatant immunity, therefore making personnel liable to prosecution for murder."

Adam Garrie: US Veto Power, A Weapon of Mass Obstruction Granting Impunity for Israeli Killings

Geopolitical expert Adam Garrie says that the Israeli regime’s possession of nuclear weapons and the American veto power at the UN Security Council have provided the regime with a feeling of impunity for their daily violations of international laws.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with FNA, Adam Garrie said that the US exercises its veto power “like a weapon of mass obstruction” to shield the Zionist regime at the UN Security Council.

Mr. Garrie believes that the US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, acts more like the Ambassador of the Zionist regime than that of the United States. He likened the UN Security Council to “a shopping center where Zionist propaganda is for sale” and the US envoy to “a shop keeper lying to her customers” while trying to insult the intelligence of the whole world.

Tripoli – Capital of militias: Armed groups capture the Libyan state

Since the arrival of the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli in March 2016, four large local militias have gradually divided up the capital between themselves. Though nominally loyal to the government, they now exert a degree of influence over state institutions and resources that is unprecedented in post-Qaddafi Libya. This Paper examines the rise of a militia cartel in Tripoli, and concludes that the situation is untenable, as it risks provoking a major new conflict over Tripoli fought by those who have been excluded from access to the state and impedes efforts to establish a meaningful unity government. >>

Students in Nicaragua trapped in church amid gunfire by pro-government militias

Dozens of Nicaraguan university students remained trapped inside a Catholic church early Saturday as pro-government militias fired for hours overnight in the vicinity of the church and police sealed off the neighborhood.

The students — along with priests, doctors, journalists, and other civilians — spent a harrowing evening under siege inside the Church of the Divine Mercy, hemmed in by gunfire. At least seven injuries were reported, primarily gunshot wounds. Late Friday, police permitted one convoy of ambulances to drive the wounded to a nearby hospital but kept the rest of the students penned inside.

Saudi King absolves troops of any future accountability for their conduct in Yemen war

A royal decree by Saudi King Salman has ‘pre-exonerated’ all troops fighting in Yemen from any accountability issues they may face over their conduct in the war, in which thousands of civilians have been killed and wounded.

A statement announcing the early pardon, released by Saudi Arabia's state news agency SPA, said the pardon extends to “all military men across the armed forces” taking part in Operation Restoring Hope, citing the official codename of the Riyadh-led invasion of Yemen.

Saudi Arabia Issues Royal Pardon for Everything Soldiers Have Done in Yemen

On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia announced that it is issuing a royal pardon for any and all Saudi troops engaged in the war in Yemen, covering all crimes related to violating military rules and discipline. They said this is to show appreciation for the “heroics” of the invading forces.

The Saudi invasion of Yemen has been widely controversial internationally. Saudi airstrikes have killed massive numbers of Yemeni civilians, and the war has also caused a famine, and the largest cholera epidemic in human history.

Faced with UN criticism, Saudi officials heavily resisted allegations of wrongdoing, and ultimately got the UN to agree that Saudi Arabia would be allowed to investigate its own forces, and police themselves. This pardon shows none of that is going to matter.

Israel blames Hamas for deaths of children its soldiers killed

Israeli forces shot 22-year-old Muhammad Abu Halima in the chest, killing him, during protests east of Gaza City on Friday.

Nearly 400 people were injured along Gaza’s eastern boundary on the 15th consecutive week of the Great March of Return demonstrations. Nearly 60 were wounded with live ammunition, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

On Wednesday the health ministry announced that Mahmoud Majid al-Gharableh, 16, had succumbed to his wounds after being shot in the head on 14 May, which saw the highest number of fatalities in a single day since the launch of the protests in late March.

Al-Gharableh is the 20th child among the nearly 150 Palestinians reported killed by Israeli forces in Gaza during that period, the vast majority of them during protests. More than 4,000 others have been wounded by live fire.

Israel has resorted to crude propaganda to deflect blame for the deaths of Palestinian boys and girls hit by bullets fired by its soldiers.

Number of Yemenis Fleeing Hudaydah Tops 121,000

A new UN report showed that more than 121,000 people have recently fled Yemen’s port city of Hudaydah due to fierce attacks by Saudi-led coalition forces. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in its latest situation report on Hudaydah released Wednesday that displacement from the Hudaydah Governorate continues, Middle East News reported. “Humanitarian partners have verified more than 17,350 households (over 121,000 people) being displaced since June 1,” it added. “More than 10,000 displaced households (nearly 80,000 people) have been assisted with food, emergency kits, and other life-saving support,” it noted. The OCHA said that after the partial calm of the last few days, air raids were carried out near the Hudaydah-Sana'a road and Hudaydah airport, adding that “intensive airstrikes were also reported on 4 July in the Southern Zaid District".

A 16-year-old Palestinian boy, Mohammad al-Gharabli, on Wednesday died of wounds sustained after being shot by Israeli occupation forces in the head during the one-million Great March of Return in mid-May. By the death of Gharabli, the number of the Great March of Return’s martyrs jumped to 145 including 9 martyrs whose bodies are still detained by Israeli occupation authorities, Palinfo reported. A statistical report issued by the Ministry of Health had showed that 144 Palestinians have been killed and 15,501 others have been injured since late March, due to Israeli quelling of the Great March of Return ongoing rallies. The report pointed out that 7,270 of the injured were treated in the field, while 8,221 others received treatment in hospitals. The Health Ministry announced that among the martyrs were 17 children, 2 woman, 2 journalists, 2 medics and 3 disabled, in addition to another 9 martyrs whose bodies are still detained by Israeli occupation authorities.

Imprisoned Russian pilot says US authorities resort to ‘torture, abduction, lies and fabricated cases’

Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, serving a 20-year sentence in the United States, told Izvestia that he is not getting any medical assistance at the Danbury Federal Correctional Institution in Connecticut, to where he was relocated. According to Yaroshenko, the institution employs mostly low-qualified medical staff. His wife told the newspaper that his family is hoping for the possibility of bringing Yaroshenko back to Russia by exchanging him for a US citizen serving time in a Russian prison. "After my first visit to the doctor, I realized that things here are even worse than at Fort Dix. In that prison, there were many former military doctors, so the institution did not experience a shortage of personnel. Over the years, I have fought to ensure that I receive at least some minimal help," Yaroshenko told the newspaper.

Iran Accuses US of Anchoring Chemical Weapons-Laden Ship in the Region

Multiple Russian and Middle East news sources are reporting new accusations by the Iranian military that a US ship carrying chemical weapons has recently anchored in the Persian Gulf and in engaged in a “dangerous plot”, though not naming the particular “Gulf state” territorial waters at which the ship docked.

The accusation comes just as a major seven week US military exercise, Operation Nautical Horizon, has concluded in the Persian Gulf which involved the same military transport ship that decommissioned Syria’s declared chemical weapons stockpiles.

Iran’s Press TV reported that senior Iranian military spokesman Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi said the US Navy’s MV Cape Ray vessel had docked at the coast of one of the Persian Gulf Arab countries after recently being escorted into the region by an American warship, and implied further that chemicals carried by the ship could be transferred to US-backed groups in Syria

American Revolutionary Song: Chester - William Billings

Chester was a patriotic anthem composed by William Billings and sung during the American Revolutionary War. Billings wrote the first version of the song for his 1770 songbook The New England Psalm Singer, and made improvements for the version in his The Singing Master's Assistant (1778). It is the latter version that is best known today.

The curious title of the song reflects a common practice of Billings's day, in which tunes were labeled with (often arbitrarily chosen) place names. Billings's song evidently has little more to do with any particular town named Chester than his hymn tune Africa has to do with Africa. With identifiable names for compositions, performers could select different lyrics to sing with the music without creating confusion.
This song would rival Yankee Doodle as the unofficial anthem of the rebel colonies

Boys are forced to rape their MOTHERS and little girls are told witchcraft will allow them to catch bullets: UN report reveals mass rape and cannibalism in Congo war

Horrific atrocities including mass rape and cannibalism are taking place in a war in the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to a UN report.

Testimony from the country's Kasai region included boys being forced to rape their mothers, little girls being told witchcraft would allow them to catch bullets, and women forced to choose gang-rape or death.

Both rebels and government troops have committed atrocities during the conflict including dismemberment of civilians, according to accounts published by a team of U.N. human rights experts who said the world must pay heed.

The team investigating a conflict in the region told the U.N. Human Rights Council last week that they suspected all sides were guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

CAMBRIDGE ANALYTICA'S PARENT COMPANY USED YEMEN AS PSYOP TEST SITE

Leaked documents show that Strategic Communication Laboratories (SCL), the parent company of the notorious Cambridge Analytica, carried out a surveillance operation embedded among local Yemeni populations in 2009. The research and psychological tactics of deception were likely later used against populations around the world including Libya, Syria, and Iran where SCL Group carried out various operations to influence social climates on behalf of their clients.

SLC Group has a dubious history of stirring up trouble with “psychological warfare” in places like Nigeria, Ukraine, Latvia and many Western countries.

The leaked documents, obtained by the Grayzone Project, detail a program called “Project Titania” carried out in Yemen which SCL Group appears to have used for honing their psychological manipulation skills. Grayzone spoke with a media professional who SCL attempted to recruit for an operation in Iran in 2009.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Do you like the fact that the US government is still torturing, or outsourcing torture, in Yemen?!? I sure as hell do not!!

I am having a Jean-Luc Picard, double palm moment, at warp speed, upon reading this.

Analytically, torture just does not produce actionable results; it only gets the tortured person to say what he or she thinks their torturers want them to say to get the torture to stop.

Torture, then, is more about creating confessions with which to justify various agendas the US government and military wish to implant on the minds of American citizens, rather than factual discovery, of what actually happened.

In World War II, a German interrogator by the name of Hanns Scharff, Hanns Scharff, who only used kindness on the American and British POWs he interrogated, and this brought him excellent results completely without the use of torture.

He was so respected by his American military counterparts that after the war, he was invited to teach his techniques to the American military.

But apparently, the CIA, American, and Emirati military leadership missed being able to torture, or outsource torture, and the intense pleasure they achieved, in the bringing of acute pain and death to their prisoners.

Sort of like "Westworld", but where real world consequences do come to bear, at least for these prisoners.

So Congress hired Haspel to head the CIA, where she gave her word that she would never allow torture to happen again, and it is happening right now in Yemen, under President Trump's watch: this absolutely disgusts and sickens me.

It has become painfully clear to me, after 9/11, that I can never believe anything any governmental agency has to tell me, because the Bush administration lied this country into two horrendous wars, against Afghanistan, and Iraq, from which we have never actually recovered, nor from which this government appears to be ready to totally disengage.

The Supreme Court’s Deference to the Pentagon

Imagine a county sheriff that took a suspected drug-law violator into custody more than 10 years ago. Since then, the man has been held in jail without being accorded a trial. The district attorney and the sheriff promise to give the man a trial sometime in the future but they’re just not sure when. Meanwhile the man sits in jail indefinitely just waiting for his trial to begin.

Difficult to imagine, right? That’s because most everyone would assume that a judge would never permit such a thing to happen.

Plot E and American Soldiers’ Brutal Practices in WWII

The Oise-Aisne cemetery, dedicated to the fallen Americans in the First World War, has a small plot impossible to visit in which rest the remains of 94 soldiers executed for committing all kinds of atrocities against the civilian population.

The work of the soldier is always dark and anonymous. It consists, as General George Patton said at the time, in a basic rule: “The object of war is not to die for your country, but to make the other bastard die for his.” As if that were not enough, the story always reminds the high officials, but never the soldiers that shed their blood in Salerno or the fine sand of Normandy. That is why monuments and military cemeteries are so important for the nations like the United States because the names of the combatants allow to honor the memory of soldiers and not to forget them. Resting places such as the cemetery of Coleville, Omaha, are an example of this, hosting more than 10,000 American heroes.

Prosecute Blair govt officials at ICC after torture report – ex-diplomat Craig Murray (VIDEO)

Craig Murray, the only British civil servant to express written concerns over UK complicity in torture and rendition, has told RT that former Foreign Secretary Jack Straw should face the International Criminal Court.
Murray was the British ambassador to Uzbekistan when he noted that MI6 operatives were receiving intelligence from the "torture chambers of the Uzbek regime," later expressing written concerns back to the Foreign Office and "to Jack Straw personally," only to be told that "in the War on Terror, the decision was that we would accept intelligence from torture."

"I subsequently became aware that in fact the Americans were also shipping people into Uzbekistan specifically in order for them to be tortured under the extraordinary rendition system," said Murray.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Torture is not about getting actionable intelligence; it is about getting confessions to use, in order to justify the US's current occupation of... well, fill in the blank: Iraq; Afghanistan; Libya; or Niger, or whatever country is coming up next on the US government's "to invade' list.

One German interrogator from World War II stood out from the rest; his name was Hanns Scharff, Wikipedia: Hanns Scharff and he never used violence or torture. In fact, he did the absolute converse, and was very kind to the men he interrogated, and took them on day passes for cultural events in the community.

He was so respected by the Allies that after the war, he was invited to teach his techniques to the American military.

Torture is uselessly barbaric, and those countries still using it, should be prosecuted to the fullest possible extent of international law; unfortunately, that will only happen...when pigs discover that they are aerodynamic.

Teen who died in jail after being tasered in groin – and other cases involving the infamous stun gun

A US federal judge has ruled that a family can proceed with their lawsuit against a police officer who tasered their teenage son in the groin on the night that he died in police custody after being arrested while high on LSD.
The Texas teenager, Graham Dyer, was arrested on the night of August 13, 2013 during a trip on the hallucinogenic LSD drug. In the back of the police cruiser, the teen repeatedly banged his head against the metal supports in the vehicle.

Video footage — which the police refused to turn over to the family until years after the incident — showed one officer reaching into the back seat and repeatedly shocking Dyer while another officer held him down by his hair. The teenager was later found unresponsive in his cell and was taken to hospital where he died. The medical examiner concluded that he died due to the self-inflicted head injuries.

UK complicit in ‘inexcusable’ kidnap and torture of terrorist suspects post-9/11 – official reports

Two long-awaited parliamentary reports have found that UK intelligence agencies were more involved in the kidnap and torture of terrorist suspects in the years after the 9/11 attacks than previously thought.

Published on Thursday, the findings from the Parliamentary Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) reports found that the UK was responsible for some “inexcusable” actions, and “tolerated” others. It revealed that the domestic security agency MI5 and the overseas agency MI6 were far more involved in the torture and rendition of suspects than previously believed.

British government involved in torture, report found

The British government’s involvement in torture and rendition is “beyond doubt” the Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) said today. The parliamentary committee, which oversee the work of the intelligence machinery of the UK, revealed the true scale of the UK government’s involvement in torture and rendition since the war on terror was launched by US President George Bush in 2001.

It is one of the most damning indictments ever of UK intelligence. Torture and rendition, according to the ISC, were much more widespread than previously reported. The ISC rejected the intelligence agencies’ defence and said that the cases were not just “isolated incidents”.

A litany of cases of concern was highlighted in two reports by the USC. One report deals with the mistreatment and rendition of detainees between 2001 and 2010, while the other considers current issues.

The Entire Western World Lives In Cognitive Dissonance- by Paul Craig Roberts

How is it that Americans can see and reject the inhumane border control policy and not see the inhumanity of family destruction that has been the over-riding result of Washington’s destruction in whole or part of seven or eight countries in the 21st century? Millions of people have been separated from families by death inflicted by Washington, and for almost two decades protests have been almost nonexistent. No public outcry stopped George W. Bush, Obama, and Trump from clear and indisputable illegal acts defined in international law established by the US itself as war crimes against the inhabitants of Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia.

Devastating Humanitarian Crisis: Update on the Situation in Hodeidah, Yemen

Quote from NRC’s Hodeidah Office Coordinator, Saleem Al-Shamiri, in Sana’a:

“Many people fled their homes in Hodeidah already. Sana’a and other cities are receiving many displaced. Water supplies have been cut off in some areas. Even families who refused to leave their house behind, have now been forced to flee because the fighting is closing in. Some of my friends arrived yesterday and today early morning. They are concerned for their future and worried they have lost their homes and income. How will they manage to rebuild their lives again?”

“I have friends who can’t leave their homes because they don’t have the means to travel. They are scared for their safety. They might be left in the crossfire without any water, food or way to escape. I am hoping the warring parties will allow safe routes out of the city as the fighting gets closer. People must be given a chance to save their own lives.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

As a Christian Pacifist Activist, I decry the actions of the US government in enabling Saudi war crimes in Yemen.

But I seriously doubt that the Saudi, or US governments, will allow safe passage for innocent civilians, and this is why.

Do you remember the scene in the film "Avatar", and I am paraphasing here, where the General decides to "create a crater so deep in the memories of the Navi people", that they will never dare to fight against the mining coalition which is destroying their planet,, ever again?

This is precisely what the US and Saudi Government have, essentially, vowed to do in Yemen.

They will create hundreds of killing fields, so that the people of Yemen, will never again fight their rule, and will be "pacified" into accepting whatever puppet government the Saudis and the US slide into Saana.

There will be no "humanitarian aid" with which to comfort those left standing; all we will see here, is a slaughter, courtesy of the genocidal Butcher of Yemen, Saudi Arabia's Prince Salman, aided and abetted by his BFF in the White House, President Trump.

As I type this, UAE military, overseen by American soldiers, are torturing Yemen prisoners, and unfortunately, again this time, our CIA's Gina Haspel is up to her elbows in more torture, and more blood.

US-Backed forces claime to "liberate" Yemenis, but instead rape detainees in secret.

Why are there no indignant outcries from the corporate Presstitute Media on this?!? Why, in the name of God, are there no requests for US reporters, to embed with these "interrogators" from the UAE?!?

Very simply, they are not allowed. No questions are allowed to be asked, in the runup to this slaughter.

But I will tell you, as long as there is breath in my body, I will continue to witness, peacefully, and never advocating violence, as a Christian, to the evils being done in my name, and in the names of all Americans, here in Yemen.

US-BACKED FORCES CLAIM TO “LIBERATE” YEMENIS, INSTEAD RAPE DETAINEES IN SECRET PRISONS

The so-called “liberators” in Yemen are sexually and physically torturing detainees at secret prisons. Survivors recall disturbing stories laden with gruesome interrogation tactics for extracting false confessions. Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen attempts to portray themselves as the bearers of freedom and reason.

As an ally of the United States’ “counter-terrorism” operation in Yemen, the United Arab Emirates established 18 prisons throughout territory under their control. An ongoing investigation from the Associated Press has so far identified instances of deranged sexual torture at five of these facilities. The Emirati headquarters in Yemen houses one of such facilities where witnesses have seen American soldiers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, even with assuring the American people that the CIA will not longer torture, or outsource it, Gina Haspel has lied to the American people, yet again.

Ms. Haspel, understanding what you have done, or allowed to be done by the UAE, is an abomination; a profound disappointment;and an irrefutable demonstration, that you are a traitor to the citizens of this country.

You said anything to get confirmed; you lied. We understand that

And President Trump, you, by your inaction, and not firing Haspel on the spot, now that you understand that this is going on under your watch, as President, is horrific in the extreme.

Where are the Hanns Schraffs of the world, when you need them?!?

Israeli forces fire tear gas at Gazans, wound over 200

More than 200 unarmed Palestinian protesters have been wounded by Israeli troops in the besieged Gaza Strip along the border separating the impoverished enclave and the occupied territories.

According to a report by the Gaza Ministry of Health, 206 demonstrators, including at least eight minors, sustained injuries as a result of inhaling tear gas fired by Israeli soldiers in the blockaded sliver on Friday.

Reports said that Israeli forces fired large quantities of tear gas canisters and live bullets east of Gaza City to disperse some 7,000 protesters who were rallying for what had been officially designated as “Friday of the Wounded”, paying tribute to those who have been wounded since the beginning of the Great March of Return demonstrations.

Democrats are losing their fear of AIPAC and Haim Saban

Last night in Connecticut, Sarah Walsh of AIPAC told a Conservative synagogue audience that the lobby group is striving to ensure that support for Israel remains bipartisan, but there are more signs that progressive Democrats feel they are able to criticize Israeli policies.

First, Rebecca Vilkomerson of Jewish Voice for Peace says there’s been a reluctance even in the Democratic establishment to defend Israel during the Gaza slaughter. In an interview with the Real News, Vilkomerson said Trump’s embrace of Netanyahu has opened the door for formerly-silent Democrats to be critical of Israel. “There’s a willingness to look at Israel’s actions that maybe wasn’t possible when Obama was president.”

Israel’s secret assassinations

“Since World War II, Israel has assassinated more people than any other country in the Western world,” Bergman writes. In many cases, these so-called targeted killings over the last two decades also involved the deaths of nearly a thousand bystanders, according to Bergman’s calculations – those numbers, however, fail to include the tens of thousands killed in overt acts of war and collective punishment that mostly go unmentioned in this book.

That Israeli officials were willing to be quoted and identify others by name implies a certainty of never being held accountable in a court of law. Consider, for example, the instruction given by former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to Avi Dichter, at that time Shin Bet’s director, in reference to Hamas. Sharon, in an open admission of intent to commit genocide, stated: “Go for it. Kill them all.”

Women on the frontlines risk death for their rights

“These are historic days,” the 28-year-old Gaza resident said. “We are telling the whole world that we have never forgotten our legitimate right of return to our stolen villages and towns.”

Stone-throwing is a simple act of resistance for Palestinians. It is a symbolic way of confronting one of the most militarized nations on earth.

It has been a tactic used by some participants in the Great March of Return – protests demanding that Palestinians be allowed home to villages and towns from which Zionist forces expelled them in 1948.

Gaza’s health sector near collapse

As the dust settles over Gaza, an already wobbling Egyptian-mediated ceasefire may bring some calm for the two million Palestinians trapped there without, yet again, any resolution to Gaza’s underlying problems.

The most pressing problem for Palestinians in Gaza remains a tottering infrastructure that threatens a full-blown humanitarian catastrophe at any moment. Water and electricity are scarce, sewage flows directly into the sea and the economy is in ruins.

The health sector has been the focus over the past few weeks since the Great March of Return protests put the spotlight back on Gaza.

The number of injuries resulting from Israeli attacks against unarmed protesters on the eastern boundary of the Gaza Strip nearly broke the back of an overstretched and under-resourced sector, exacerbating the pressure on health professionals and straining provision.

Gaza’s bloody Monday

As Ahmed was too shy to approach the woman, Khader and I went and talked to her. After introducing ourselves, we asked for her address, so that Ahmed could visit her family with a marriage proposal.

It was my only contact with Ahmed.

On 14 May this year, I came home, feeling weary after covering the latest massacre committed by Israel. When I opened my laptop, I saw pictures of Ahmed on the Internet. He was one of around 60 demonstrators killed on that day. He was 27 years old.

Learning that Ahmed was among them saddened me, even though I had just met him once. I began to weep.

The next morning I phoned Khader to console him. Later, we both went to Ahmed’s funeral. The sense of shock among the mourners was almost palpable.

Ahmed did actually marry the woman he was too shy to approach. Her name is Hanan.

She is 24 and graduated with a teaching degree from the Islamic University of Gaza, where Ahmed was studying business administration.

Crimes Against Humanity. Washington Endorses The State of Israel

The margin between what is a human right as an inalienable possession, and how it is seen in political terms is razor fine. In some cases, the distinctions are near impossible to make. To understand the crime of genocide is to also understand the political machinations that limited its purview. No political or cultural groups, for instance, were permitted coverage by the defintion in the UN Convention responsible for criminalising it.

The same goes for the policing bodies who might use human rights in calculating fashion, less to advance an agenda of the human kind than that of the political. This can take the form of scolding, and the United States, by way of illustration, has received beratings over the years in various fields. (Think an onerous, vicious prison system, the stubborn continuation of the death penalty, and levels of striking impoverishment for an advanced industrial society.)

Why America’s Torture-Chief Now Runs The CIA

On May 17th, the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee voted 10 to 5 to approve Gina Haspel as America’s new chief of the Cenral Intelligence Agency. Back in 2002, she had headed the CIA’s “black site” in Thailand where she ordered and oversaw the torturing of Abu Zubaydah, trying to force him to provide evidence that Saddam Hussein was behind the 9/11 attacks, but Zubaydah had no such evidence and wasn’t even able credibly to concoct a story that President George W. Bush could use to ‘justify’ America’s invading Iraq in response to 9/11.

UAE Officers Film Themselves Raping, Torturing Men In Yemen "Hidden Prisons"

Hundreds of prisoners in southern Yemen swept up on suspicion of belonging to al-Qaida or ISIS are being systematically raped, tortured and humiliated in at least five out of 18 UAE-controlled "hidden prisons," according to seven witnesses who spoke to AP, which also obtained letters and drawings smuggled out of one prison in Aden.

Emiratis have swept up hundreds of Yemeni men into a network of at least 18 hidden prisons on suspicion of being al-Qaida or Islamic State militants. The prisoners are held without charges or trials.

Witnesses said Yemeni guards working under the direction of Emirati officers have used various methods of sexual torture and humiliation. They raped detainees while other guards filmed the assaults. They electrocuted prisoners’ genitals or hung rocks from their testicles. They sexually violated others with wooden and steel poles.

The Entire Western World Lives In Cognitive Dissonance

Millions of people have been separated from families by death inflicted by Washington, and for almost two decades protests have been almost nonexistent. No public outcry stopped George W. Bush, Obama, and Trump from clear and indisputable illegal acts defined in international law established by the US itself as war crimes against the inhabitants of Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia. We can add to this an eighth example: The military attacks by the US armed and supported neo-Nazi puppet state of Ukraine against the breakaway Russian provinces.

The massive deaths, destruction of towns, cities, infrastructure, the maiming, physical and mental, the dislocation that has sent millions of refugees fleeing Washington’s wars to overrun Europe, where governments consist of a collection of idiot stooges who supported Washington’s massive war crimes in the Middle East and North Africa, produced no outcry comparable to Trump’s immigration policy.

'No surprise': US ally UAE uses Guantanamo & Abu Ghraib techniques in Yemen - Vanessa Beeley to RT

Independent investigative journalist Vanessa Beeley said that it is no shock that reports keep piling up of the UAE committing human rights violations in Yemeni prisons along with their allies, possibly including the US.

“The US, for all their posturing as the world's moral authority, are the world's expert in some of the most heinous torture practices therefore it should be no great surprise that the UAE, a close ally of the US, is practicing similar techniques to those used in Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib and other CIA-run black sites globally,” the journalist told RT on Thursday.

James Mattis Is a War Criminal: I Experienced His Attack on Fallujah Firsthand

While reporting from inside Fallujah during that siege, I personally witnessed women, children, elderly people and ambulances being targeted by US snipers under Mattis' command. Needless to say, all of these are war crimes.

During the November siege of Fallujah later that same year, which I also covered first-hand, more than 5,000 Iraqi civilians were killed. Most were buried in mass graves in the aftermath of the siege.

Mosques were deliberately targeted by the US military, hospitals bombed, medical workers detained, ambulances shot at, cease-fires violated, media repressed, and the use of depleted uranium was widespread. All of these are, again, war crimes.

Op-Ed: James 'Mad Dog' Mattis, war criminal

Once Operation Vigilant Resolve, also known as the First Battle of Fallujah, began on April 4, however, Mattis' concerns were overridden by the military mandate to get the job done as quickly and with as little loss of American life as possible.

Four days into the offensive, women, children and elderly residents were allowed to leave the besieged city, but males over the age of 14 were not. Families faced the horrific choice of splitting up or staying together to face the fury of the invading Marines.
It was some fury. According to witnesses and survivors of the assault, Marines indiscriminately killed men, women, children, the elderly and disabled alike. Civilians waving white flags of surrender were cut down by snipers, who also targeted ambulances carrying the wounded and dying to the few functioning clinics not destroyed by U.S. bombs.

Rape And Abuse of Japanese Women By American Soldiers During WW2

Japanese historian Oshiro Masayasu writes about the large scale rape by American soldiers in Okinawa in 1945. He reports the incident at a village in Motobu peninsula where GIs landed and found only women, children and old folks there. What followed was abominable. There was a hunt in broad daylight for Japanese women who were ravaged mercilessly.

Allied soldiers 'raped hundreds of thousands of German women' after WW2

Hundreds of thousands of German women were raped by British, American and French soldiers after the end of the Second World War, a German historian has claimed.

In a new book, Professor Miriam Gerhardt, a well-regarded German academic, challenges the established view that Soviet troops were responsible for the vast majority of rape cases in occupied Germany.

“The assumption that Western Allied soldiers would not do such a thing turned out not to be true,” she said, to the broadcaster Deutsche Welle. “In the method and violence of rap there was no different between American GIs and the Red Army, as far as I can see.”

Jun 21 09:36

The GIs who raped France: We know about the mass rape of German women by Stalin's soldiers. Now a new book reveals American troops committed thousands of rapes on French women they were 'liberating'

While the Germans had French girlfriends, the American military had a different approach.

As Professor Roberts says: ‘My book seeks to debunk an old myth about the GI, thought of as a manly creature that always behaved well — the GIs were having sex anywhere and everywhere.’

In total, it is estimated that some 14,000 women were raped by American GIs in Western Europe from 1942 to 1945. In France, 152 American soldiers were tried for rape, of whom 29 were hanged.

‘Normandy women launched a wave of rape accusations against American soldiers,’ Roberts writes, ‘threatening to destroy the erotic fantasy at the heart of the operation. The spectre of rape transformed the GI from rescuer-warrior to violent intruder’.

Israeli PM Praises US for Leaving UN Human Rights Council

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the US administration for leaving the UN Human Right Council, saying its step was “courageous” in criticizing the council of bias.

Netanyahu thanked, in a statement on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump, Minister Pompeo and Ambassador Nikki Haley for their decision against what he called the “hypocrisy and lies” of the so-called UN Human Rights Council.

He added, according to Al Ray, that the Human Rights Council proves its chronic bias against Israel, claiming that it has betrayed its mission of protecting human rights.

The United States announced, on Tuesday, its leaving the United Nations’ Human Rights Council, which Ambassador Nikki Haley called “an organization that is not worthy of its name.”

Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan upped his government’s efforts to link the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign with “terrorism”, in a presentation to pro-Israel activists on Tuesday night, reported The Jerusalem Post.

Erdan unveiled what he described in a post on Twitter as a “map of the Delegitimization Network – aka, the Hate Net”, which the minister claimed “mapped out the 42 leading #BDS orgs, their hub in Ramallah & the connections between them”.

The minister told an audience of Israel advocates that “a coordinated and financed network of [boycott] organizations is led from Ramallah and Gaza, a quarter of which have links to terrorist organizations, including Hamas and the PFLP [Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine]”.

The Death of Independence

The inevitability of a decent into despotism, built into the structure of Article VI, Paragraph 2 of the U.S. Constitution, commonly referred to as the Supremacy Clause, has proven true. It establishes that the federal constitution and federal law generally, take precedence over state laws, and even state constitutions.

Insatiable appetites and lust for power marks the ascendency of legislative, bureaucratic and judicial careers throughout the three branches of central government. Incrementalism and deception has evolved into open defiance and unfettered arrogance. The political class pretends that partisan parties actually offer loyal opposition, when both are camouflaged versions of the same vermin. As likely that cockroaches will inherit the earth, it is more certain that parasitic politicians steal the hopes and dreams of citizens, while destroying any chance for the common-man to have a future worth living.

Why the US will never say sorry for destroying Iraq

A new poll conducted by the Pew Research Center has found that 43 percent of Americans still believe that invading Iraq was the right decision. Let that sink in for a minute: almost half of Americans still believe that an illegal war, based on doctored intelligence and entirely debunked claims, which resulted in almost immeasurable death and destruction, was the right thing to do, morally, politically, or otherwise ... Back to Iraq. A survey conducted for the National Geographic Society in 2006 found that 63 percent of Americans aged 18-24 could not locate Iraq on a map. This is astonishing, given that the US has fought two wars there since 1990 and occupied the country for close to a decade.
Note: The cost is now TRILLIONS, not billions.

Israeli bill would criminalise critical documentation of soldiers’ activities

Israel’s Ministerial Committee for Legislation is expected to approve a draft bill on Sunday that aims to ban the documentation of Israeli soldiers’ treatment of Palestinians by human rights groups.

MSF told me this claim is false. The organization clarified that it gave the Saudi coalition the GPS coordinates for its cholera treatment center at least 12 times in writing, and the coalition “acknowledged receipt of these coordinates in writing at least nine times.”

Gaza’s bloody Monday

Throughout the past seven decades, the UN General Assembly has repeatedly recognized that Palestinian refugees are entitled to go home. The Great Return March has asserted that right, while drawing attention to how Israel violates it.

Ahmed was the son of Mahmoud al-Rantisi, an information technology teacher at the Islamic University of Gaza and a leading member of Hamas.

Ahmed’s connections to Hamas give Israel no excuse for killing him and other unarmed demonstrators. Under international human rights law, it is illegal for Israeli snipers – shielded by two fences – to open fire on protesters.

Why Trump’s Next Pardon Should Be CIA Whistleblower John Kiriakou

President Donald Trump should pardon John Kiriakou as soon as possible. He should do so to reverse former president Barack Obama’s worst injustice: putting a man in prison for blowing the whistle on the CIA’s post-9/11 interrogation techniques, now widely considered to be torture and banned by Obama himself.

Kiriakou was highly decorated during his 14 years of CIA counterterrorism service. In 2007, he went public with what the CIA was doing to prisoners—which current CIA director Gina Haspel most recently disowned in a letter to Senator Mark Warner: “[T]he program ultimately did damage to our officers and our standing in the world. With both the benefit of hindsight and my experience as a senior Agency leader, the enhanced interrogation program is not one the CIA should have undertaken.” Kiriakou’s objections catalyzed the Detainee Treatment Act of 2005, which strengthened and clarified existing interrogation prohibitions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This was so typically, and sneakily, immoral on the part of President ("You ratted what we were doing out, so now, I'm taking my revenge") Obama, that it has to make thinking people wonder about the great schism between his public personna (poetic, and eloquent enough, if the Chiron didn't stumble), and those vindictive, and mendacious tendecies which plagued his presidency, and led to a real rise in the use of extrajudicial assassinations, and in siding with the megalomaniacal monarch, Saudi Arabia's
Prince Bin Salman, in his decision to involve the US military with the Saudi military campaign in Yemen in 2015.

The number of dead is outrageous; the number injured – especially gunshot victims, and particularly victims of “butterfly bullets” – is unconscionable. Signatories include 90 members of parliament, many of whom are from the EU and UK parliaments. Other notable signatories include ten Israel Prize laureates, film director Ken Loach, artists Ai Weiwei, author Alice Walker, academic Noam Chomsky and several musicians. Dozens of Rabbis have also signed the letter denouncing Israel for what many would describe ethnic cleansing.

‘Every bullet has a precise address’ – another Israeli journalist justifies the massacre

This logic has been uttered by a prominent Israeli journalist: Mass shootings of Palestinians have saved their lives. Reporting from the sniper positions near the Gaza fence, Dan Margalit writes in his Hebrew-only Haaretz opinion (Saturday):

From this position, the events looked a bit different than from the Karni crossing near Nahal Oz. Now I am convinced, more than at the beginning of the fighting about 10 weeks ago, that the massive shooting at the beginning of the battles [sic] has saved many Palestinian lives, and of course, first and foremost, lives of Israelis.”

And just how does he get to the logic, that mass shooting of Palestinians is good for them (and of course, first and foremost for us, and despite the fact that no real “battles” have really occurred in these demonstrations)?

THE SALVADOR OPTION: THE US IS ONCE AGAIN SUPPORTING DEATH SQUADS IN CENTRAL AMERICA

The United States has been quietly funding and equipping elite paramilitary police units in El Salvador accused of extrajudicially murdering suspected gang members, according to a forthcoming United Nations report reviewed in advance by CNN.

Beginning with George W. Bush in 2003, successive US administrations have provided tens of millions of dollars in aid for Salvadoran military and police in support of the government’s “Mano Dura” (“Firm Hand”) security program, an aggressive campaign to combat out-of-control gang violence in a country with one of the world’s highest homicide rates.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Such use of US-funded paramilitaries by the El Salvador government goes against the grain of everything which is American, including that apparently rather quaint, and no longer observed, concept of due process.

It rather reminds me of the attitude of the Papal Vicar, Dominique Guzman, when he heard, during the siege against the Cathars at Montsegur in France, that women and children were among the men holed up there, he remarked: "Kill them all; God will find his own."

SYRACUSE NATIONAL SECURITY PROGRAM DIRECTOR REGISTERS AS A SAUDI FOREIGN AGENT

The director of a national security program at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs has registered with the U.S. Department of Justice as an agent of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 28Pages.org is first to report.

In his registration statement, retired U.S. Army Colonel Bill Smullen, former chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell, indicated he has agreed to provide “public relations support” to the Saudi embassy for compensation initially projected at $8,000.

Smullen’s National Security Studies program at Syracuse is billed as “a premier professional development program that offers executive education courses for senior civilian and military leaders who are responsible for the national security interests of their respective organizations.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Torture By US Is More Widespread Than Has Been Publicly Acknowledged

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the country’s use of torture is far deeper and more systemic than what has been publicly acknowledged.

Revelations on the use of torture by US intelligence personnel during the George W Bush presidency have been described as one of the "darkest chapters" in US history.

Not only did it erode whatever moral authority the US claimed to have had during the first decade of the "War on Terror," but the egregious mistreatment of Iraqi detainees at Abu Ghraib and Camp Bucca also helped to give birth to the self-proclaimed Islamic State and to re-energise the global jihad movement.

You'd be mistaken, however, if you believed this nefarious chapter in US history started and ended with the Bush administration - and given that the Republican-controlled Congress has voted to probe whether US troops resorted to torture as part of their interrogation of prisoners in Yemen, you can be sure there is still much to learn.

For two years in a secret prison in Romania, the CIA tortured the Saudis

ROMANIA and Lithuania allowed their secret prisons to be located in secret US prisons where Palestinian and Saudi Arabian citizens were detained and abused, the European Court of Human Rights, headquartered in Strasbourg, today ruled.

The court said the Saudi Arabian citizen Abd al-Rahim Al-Nashiri, who was later sent to jail in Guantanamo Bay, was detained and abused in Romania from September 2003 to October 2005.

The court therefore called on Romania to investigate the case and punish those responsible, but, as the agency notes, Bucharest denies that such facilities were located in the US Central Intelligence Agency ( CIA ).

The court reportedly said that Lithuania on its territory provided for the CIA prison from February 2005 to March 2006, where Palestinian Abu Zubaydah was detained, suspected of planning attacks on September 11, 2001.
