Trump Gives CIA More Autonomy on Drone Strikes

Stupid is as Stupid does!

In this case, Trump told CIA Director Mike Pompeo and other officials that he wants an even more aggressive drone posture from the CIA, and granted them broad autonomy in who to kill and when. This included allowing CIA strikes in Syria, something which heretofore hadn’t been mentioned.

Removing Offensive Monuments

The eyesore presidential libraries

The social justice warrior charge to purge the United States of all monuments relating in any way to the Confederacy has been rapidly expanding to include the scourge represented by all white people all through history.

Now, I would suggest that turnabout is fair play so if we are all agreeing that monuments must be destroyed to right historic wrongs, I am interested in making up my own little list based on the things that I disapprove of. As readers of this site are aware, I am a critic of illegal behavior by the United States government, to include torture, targeted assassinations by drone and starting wars without any reason to do so, so that would be a good place to start.

SENATE CAMPAIGN FACES SCRUTINY OF STRATEGIST’S WORK FOR SAUDIS

A U.S. Senate campaign faces controversy after the Boston Herald published a story on a key strategist’s participation in a Saudi lobbying campaign against the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA).

Massachusetts state representative Geoffrey Diehl, who is running for the 2018 Republican nomination to oppose incumbent senator Elizabeth Warren, hired Holly Robichaud to serve as a campaign strategist. 28Pages.org previously reported that Robichaud, a political consultant and columnist for the Boston Herald, registered in October 2016 as an agent of the Saudi government.

JASTA cleared the way for 9/11 victims and insurers to sue the kingdom for its alleged support of the September 11 attacks. Robichaud was among some 70 political influencers across the nation pressed into service by Qorvis MSLGroup as the firm scrambled to unleash a broad attack on JASTA on behalf of Saudi Arabia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

During this campaign, Geoffrey Diehl needs to be asked hard questions regarding the joint commision of war crimes by Saudi and US troops in Yemen.

And please do mention that:

1. Saudi troops have methodically killed, and maimed for life, innocent Yemeni children, women, and the medically fragile elderly with their bombing runs.

Yemeni children killed and maimed for life from Saudi bombing runs in Yemen

2. Saudi troops have closed all Yemeni ports, so no food can get in. Now, Yemeni children are starving to death from malnutrition.

Images: children dead and dying from the consequences of malnutrition

3. With starvation comes disease, so cholera has swept up hundreds of thousands in an epidemic of huge proportions.

Images: Yemeni children dying from cholera

You may want to ask Diehl if the cholera was weaponised, courtesy of the Occupied Unhinged Surveilled States of America (The OUSSA, which is the only way I can refer to this country at this point in its history.)

4. The Saudi troops have used depleted uranium weapons, causing massive cancers, still births, and horrific birth defects in Yemeni children.

Images: massive premature births and horrific birth defects, due to Saudi use of depleted uranium weapons in Yemen

You might also want to ask Holly Robichard (politely, NO PROFANITY< NO THREATS, PLEASE!!) faxing the above images to her office) why she is morally comforable, doing work for a country which commits these atrocities. Her contact info can be found here:

Syria’s Victory in Deir Ezzor

The Tide is Turning against the Deep State NWO.

The Syrian Arab Army have achieved yet another dramatic victory this time lifting the ISIS siege of the heroic city of Deir Ezzor. For years Deir Ezzor has been surrounded by enemies and under siege first by the FSA and Al Nusra and then by ISIS. They have withstood repeated attacks by the US-NATO air force most infamously last fall when the Americans bombed Deir Ezzor right after agreeing to a ceasefire, a treacherous move that paved the way for a nearly successful ISIS offensive to capture the city. The brave defenders of Deir Ezzor withstood these endless attacks becoming a symbol of the heroic resistance of all of Syria. For years Syrians and their friends around the world have dreamed that one day this siege would be lifted. Our dreams have finally come true and faster then anyone could have imagined.

Government Won on 9/11… The rest of us lost…

16 years later, the War on Terror™ has yielded hundreds of thousands of dead and injured Americans, Iraqis, and Afghans, ongoing and intractable wars disguised as nation building, the Patriot Act, illegal executive actions, trillions in new federal debt, vastly increased federal surveillance powers, rubber stamped FISA court warrants, TSA at the airports, a useless Department of Homeland Security, overflowing VA hospitals, and increasingly militarized police here at home. More importantly, it has yielded a distressing complacency toward grotesque federal power. -- It has not yielded peace, or liberty, or security. But liberty vs. security was never the choice.

Germany Launches Probe After Pentagon's Syrian Arms Smuggling Story Goes Viral

The German government has opened a probe into an illegal Pentagon arms trafficking operation after a bombshell investigative report on the secret program went viral this week.

On Wednesday we reported on the continuing Pentagon arms pipeline to Syria which runs through Europe, the Balkans, and Caucuses, and which is based on a shady network of private contractors and altered US government paperwork. The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) produced conclusive evidence and internal memos proving that not only is the Pentagon currently involved in shipping up to $2.2 billion worth of (mostly old Soviet) weapons from private dealers to US-backed Syrian militants, but is actually manipulating paperwork such as end-user certificates in order to conceal the ultimate destinations of the weaponry (in this case Syria).

EU refuses to condemn Israeli genocide plan

A party with members in Israel’s government has just endorsed a plan to force Palestinians out of their homeland.

A prominent Holocaust scholar previously called the plan potentially genocidal and likened the values of its chief proponent to those of the Nazi SS.

Yet the European Union, which claims a moral mission to combat extremism, racism and xenophobia, is refusing to condemn it.

The National Union faction, which has members in Israel’s parliament as part of the Jewish Home party, approved the plan at a conference this week.

New U.N. Report Cites Terrorists, Blames Assad For Chemical Weapons With No Real Evidence

By Brandon Turbeville

The United Nations is marching ahead with its task of acting as the Anglo-Financier administrative arm of the world corporate-financier government structure with its recent “report” aimed at the Syrian government. According to Western corporate media outlets who are reporting the story with unconcealed glee, the United Nations “war crimes investigators” produced a report blaming the Syrian government for chemical weapons attacks at Khan Sheikhoun and nearly two dozen other incidents.

The United Nations team stated that there had been 33 incidents investigated; 27 were the fault of the Syrian government and perpetrators had not yet been identified in the other seven. In other words, all of the alleged chemical weapons incidents were the fault of the Syrian government except for the ones they have yet to determine.

However, there are many problems with the stance of the report, its methodology, and its purpose...

9-11 Research: An Attempt to Uncover the Truth About September 11th, 2001

We all know the official story of September 11th: four jetliners were hijacked by groups of four and five Arabic men armed with box cutters, who proceeded to fly three of the four jets into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. Subsequently the World Trade Center Towers, weakened by the impacts and fires, collapsed into piles of rubble. The FBI had compiled a list of hijackers within three days, and it was so obvious that Osama bin Laden had masterminded the operation from caves in Afghanistan, that there was no need to seriously investigate the crime or produce evidence. The "retaliatory" attack on the Taliban would soon commence.

AT HOME IN GAZA

Wissam Nassar, a Gaza-born photojournalist who has worked in the coastal enclave for the past eight years, has seen it all. He lives a life surrounded by war and reconstruction but finds the most authentic images he makes as a photographer in the subtler moments of reprieve.

“My family and I are refugees,” Nassar tells TIME, as he recalls growing up in Gaza as one of eight children from what he calls a very “working class family.” Nassar was first inspired to begin documenting Gaza’s most turbulent times while in college. He began his professional career covering the past three Israeli-Hamas wars in 2008, 2012 and 2014.

Webmaster's Commentary:

'Horrific' accusations of torture, sex abuse in Bahrain

Bahrain has brutally cracked down on opponents over the past year with security forces jailing, torturing, and sexually assaulting more than 160 government critics, rights groups said on Thursday.

Between June 2016 and June 2017, at least 169 Bahrainis have also been threatened, harassed, and banned from leaving the Gulf island nation, Amnesty International said in its report, 'No one can protect you': Bahrain's year of crushing dissent.

"We have heard horrific allegations of torture in Bahrain. They must be promptly and effectively investigated and those responsible brought to justice," said Philip Luther, Amnesty's research and advocacy director for the Middle East and North Africa.

"The government of Bahrain has managed to crush a formerly thriving civil society and reduced it to a few lone voices who still dare to speak out."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word, please.

Today you held a press conference with Emir Al-Sabah from Kuwait.

You also mentioned Bahrain by name, as being one of America's BFFs in the region.

So here is what must be the quid pro quo for you: you have bonded our country, geopolitically, to a barbaric dictatorship which rapes, beats, hangs, and tortures peaceful demonstrators, in return for the continued use of its housing the US Navy's 5th Fleet.

Historically, those in the bowels of power in the Deep State of the Unhinged, Surveilled, States of Amerika, have had absolutely no qualms about getting in bed with dictators, if those country's dictators suit Amerika's needs. Look at Pinochet's Argentina, and the Shah's Iran, for unequivocal proof of this.

But Mr. President, at what moral cost to your Presidency, have you done this?!?

The realities of the brutality of the Sunni Al-Khalifa monarchy toward their Shiite minority have been thoroughly documented; there is no room for saying that this is not happening.

When this country gets cozy with dictatorships, for various geopolitical gain, it broadcasts that those alleged American ideals of democracy, human rights, and freedom of speech are simply a charade, to be well and truly flushed, when a "deal" can be made with a foreign dictator; the US relationship with Bahrain, given its appalling human rights record, is one of those moments when the hypocrisy of such actions is laid absolutely bare, for all the world to see, Mr. President.

HRW: Egypt torture likely 'crime against humanity'

Human Rights Watch in a report released on Wednesday accused Egyptian security services of widespread torture of detainees in a probable "crime against humanity."

The New York-based rights group said security services in the North African country used torture as a "systematic practice" against suspected opponents of the government.

Rights groups have regularly accused Egyptian security services of practising torture, something the interior ministry has denied.

The government has acknowledged there have been "individual" cases of torture, and several policemen have been tried and sentenced for violent deaths in detention in recent years.

"Human Rights Watch believes the torture epidemic in Egypt likely constitutes a crime against humanity, due to its widespread and systematic practice across Egypt," the group said in the report.

It said it had interviewed 19 former detainees who detailed the methods of torture, which include electrocution.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How reminiscent of Americans torturing Iraqis at Abu Ghraib!!

I just have to wonder; where did the Egyptian military learn about these techniques of torture, which the US government has sanctioned, and used, or outsourced the use of, against prisoners of war?!?

The Plight of Rohingya: Myanmar Authorities Are Deliberately Overlooking Atrocities

As maintained by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran is prepared to help adoption of collective strategies by international organizations and Muslim countries in order to solve the ongoing crisis plaguing Myanmar’s Muslim community. This comes as Myanmar’s military has intensified attacks on Rohingya Muslims.

This is while the Muslim community has long been under a military siege in Rakhine since October 2016. The government claimed that its border guards had come under a militant attack and used it as the pretext to enforce the lockdown without substantiating its claim. The Rohingya had already been subject to communal violence by extremist Buddhists for years.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I will not be silent, about this ongoing genocide, thank you very much!!

And Ahn Sang Su Ki, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU RIGHT NOW?!?

Cowering and hiding behind the weight of your office, will not resolve the problem.

The world is watching, and seeing the enormity of this calamity, courtesy of of a highly nationalistic Buddhist military, cannot be allowed to continue.

And Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, my hat is off to you, sir, and all other Muslim countries looking for ways to help end this religious persecution of Myanmar's Rohingya.

If Buddha is watching this from whatever enlightened spiritual space to which he may have ascended, his spirit is sobbing right now.

Stop working with Israeli torturers, Palestinians urge EU academics

Palestinian academics are urging their European counterparts to end their cooperation with a European Union project that funds Israeli torturers.

The Palestinian Federation of Unions of University Professors and Employees and PACBI, the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel, are calling on Belgium’s KU Leuven university and Portugal’s INESC-ID research institute to pull out of the EU-funded LAW-TRAIN program.

They also urge three British academics listed as advisors – Portsmouth University’s Claire Nee and Jo Taylor and William Finn, both of the College of Policing – to end their roles in the project.

SHOCK VIDEO: THE GOVERNMENT LOCKED THESE KIDS IN A GAS CHAMBER AND FILLED IT WITH DEADLY ORGANISMS TO TEST GAS MASK EFFECTIVENESS

A chilling video showing gas masks being tested on schoolchildren by government scientists using deadly organisms paints a disturbing picture of life in the Cold War.

The unsettling footage, which was taken in 1960, shows a classroom full of children no older than 10 being given a lecture about the biohazard safety devices by a visitor.

The youngsters, who are the children of soldiers, are then led into a chamber where the mask’s effectiveness is tested using a potentially deadly mix of microbial organisms.

The children stay in the chamber for 10 minutes before being removed, with the narrator noting that ‘a concentration much greater than could be reasonably expected during any biological attack’ is being tested on them.

Turkey's Erdogan Calls Killing of Rohingya in Myanmar Genocide

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that the death of hundreds of Rohingya in Myanmar over the past week constituted a genocide aimed at Muslim communities in the region.

Nearly 400 people have died in fighting that has rocked Myanmar's northwest for a week, new official data showed, making it probably the deadliest bout of violence to engulf the country's Rohingya Muslim minority in decades.

"There is a genocide there. They remain silent towards this... All those looking away from this genocide carried out under the veil of democracy are also part of this massacre," Erdogan said at his ruling AK Party's Eid al-adha celebrations in Istanbul.

The army says it is conducting clearance operations against "extremist terrorists" to protect civilians.

Erdogan, with his roots in political Islam, has long striven to take a position of leadership among the world's Muslim community. He said it was Turkey's moral responsibility to take a stand against the events in Myanmar.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Erdogan is correct in his assessment here; and although he is not a politician for whom I have a great deal of respect, after watching the repression under which the Kurdish Turks have had to live under his watch, he is right to make this statement.

But it is going to take concerted efforts on the part of Myanmar politicians and military, to ratchet the tensions down here. I am quite certain that there have been atrocities on both sides of the conflict. And if the Rohingya Muslim minority are fighting back, it is because they are at the end of their collective rope, at the violence visited upon them by the Myanmar military.

And please note: I am not agreeing with this violence; I am simply stating that I understand how this can happen.

And this morning, we have the following disturbing story, posted at the South China Post On-line:

Rohingya Refugees heeding the Call to Arms, and Returning to Myanmar

And I call out to Aung San Suu Kyi; because of the terrible prosecution against the Myanmar Rohingya by your Buddhist military, they are now ready to take their fight to Naypyidaw, the capital of your state.

So if you do not want a civil war in your country, there need to be cease-fire talks, and immediately, creating an unbreakable assurance the Rohingya will be treated as brother and sister human beings, and not "less than."

The world is watching what is going on in Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi: and the world is waiting to know how you will create a peace between both the Rohingya Muslims, and the majority Buddhists.

U.S.-led forces acknowledge killing 61 more civilians in Iraq, Syria

The U.S.-led coalition fighting Islamic State militants said on Friday it had confirmed another 61 likely civilian deaths caused by its strikes in Iraq and Syria, raising to 685 the number of civilians it has acknowledged killing since the conflict began.

The coalition said in a statement that during July, it had investigated 37 reports of civilian casualties. It found that only 13 of the reports were credible and there were an estimated 61 unintentional civilian deaths.

The coalition is investigating another 455 reports of civilian casualties caused by its artillery or air strikes, the statement said. It has now acknowledged at least 685 civilian deaths due to its air and artillery strikes since the conflict began in August 2014.

Here is one of those “horrible, horrible” things published by WikiLeaks

5th April 2010 10:44 EST WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad — including two Reuters news staff.

Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-sight, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee and his rescuers. US Dismisses UN Plea: Won’t Stop Bombing Civilians in Raqqa

The soaring civilian death toll form US airstrikes against the ISIS capital city of Raqqa has gotten so bad that yesterday, it actually fueled a statement from the UN requesting the US pause their airstrikes to allow more civilians to flee the city.

US officials are rejecting this call, however, with Special Envoy Brett McGurk insisting that the war against ISIS is going very well, and that the “number one thing that we have to do to” to help civilians in Raqqa is continue the war and defeat ISIS outright.

McGurk went on to say that President Trump is “focused like a laser destroying ISIS,” and that the war is going well, but that they will take the UN call to pause the strikes “under advisement.” It’s clear, however, they aren’t taking the call seriously.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This event very much reminds me of the statement by the Papal Legate at the siege of the Cathars at Montsegur, France.

When informed that women and children were with the men, taking refuge here, the Papal Legate's command was: "Kill them all; God will find his own!!"

Given this bloodlust for killing everyone still breathing in Raqqa, allegedly to take out ISIS, I am completely astonished that Special Envoy McGurk has not requested the use of several MOAB bombs against the city.

Because it has become painfully apparent that in US diplospeak, "helping people" now means "assassinating civilians".

How We Know The So-Called “Civil War” Was Not Over Slavery

Paul Craig Roberts

When I read Professor Thomas DiLorenzo’s article ( http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2017/08/21/lincoln-myth-ideological-co... ) the question that lept to mind was, “How come the South is said to have fought for slavery when the North wasn’t fighting against slavery?”

Two days before Lincoln’s inauguration as the 16th President, Congress, consisting only of the Northern states, passed overwhelmingly on March 2, 1861, the Corwin Amendment that gave constitutional protection to slavery. Lincoln endorsed the amendment in his inaugural address, saying “I have no objection to its being made express and irrevocable.”

If the South’s real concern was maintaining slavery, the South would not have turned down the constitutional protection of slavery offered them on a silver platter by Congress and the President. Clearly, for the South also the issue was not slavery.

Depleted Uranium and Radioactive Contamination in Iraq: An Overview

Information revealed about a severe illness known as the ‘Gulf War Syndrome’ which spread amongst US Army veterans who were exposed to DU while using theseweaponry, helped Iraqi researchers and Medical Doctors to understand the nature of the effect of these weapons, and the means required to investigate further into this issue.

DU is a chemically toxic and radioactive heavy metal produced as waste by the nuclear power industry. It is used in weapons because it is an extremely hard material capable of piercing armor.

The synergistic impact on health due to the 1991post-Gulf War1 economic sanctions, and DU related radioactive and toxic contamination, raised the number of casualties in contaminated areas such as in Southern Iraq.

It seems that the whole world expresses its condolences in the aftermath of these brutal attacks, while demonstrating sincere support toward efforts in fighting international terrorism aimed at stopping the continuous bloodshed at the hands of extremists groups like ISIS. People gather in large numbers in mosques, synagogues and cathedrals across the world to pray for the victims and express their resilient opposition to those taking innocent souls in a bid to spread terror across the world, while demanding the harshest punishment laws can provide for the perpetrators of these attacks. Trump Officials Trying to Finalize Legal Language to Expand Gitmo’s Use

While President Trump has made clear he intends to not only keep Guantanamo Bay open, but refill it with a new round of detainees, the administration has been struggling with the legal obstacles surrounding a new influx of captives.

The goal is to come up with an executive order that not only reverses President Obama’s 2009 pledge to eventually close the facility, but to provide some sort of basis for putting newly captured people into the facility, after years of trying to release most of those already there.

The initial executive order, which President Trump nearly signed back in late July, would’ve allowed ISIS and al-Qaeda members to be held there, despite warnings from legal officials about the consequences this would have for the broader ISIS war.

Webmaster's Commentary:

First, a little definition of who these "detainees" are; they are, by every international code of conduct, prisoners of war, and as such, deserve basic humanitarian treatment.

And President Trump, a word, please: Gitmo, as it currently exists, is a blot and stain on the American moral character, and should be closed down.

The torture done here; the force-feeding through NG tubing, when prisoners don't want to eat, is an affront to what we are supposed to be as a nation.

And we understand full well why COs at Guantanamo are so eager to keep their prisoners alive; because through an autopsy process, it would be discovered that water boarding, to get these people to falsely confess to crimes they may have never committed, wasn't the worst thing which had happened to them.

It not only happened at Gitmo; it happened at other facilities in places like Morocco and Pakistan, where torture was outsourced. As reported at the independent.co.uk, regarding the case of Binyam Mohamed:

He was arrested in Pakistan in April 2002 travelling on a false passport and handed over to US interrogators who he says turned nasty when he mentioned a website he had seen with instructions for building a nuclear bomb. The website included instructions such as refining uranium by whirling it in a bucket above an individual's head. What followed, he insists, was a catalogue of encounters with foreign intelligence agents in Pakistan and later Morocco while being subjected to tortures that included being chained to a gate for 22 hours and being cut on his genitals 20 or 30 times during interrogation sessions over two years. Last month, it emerged in a High Court judgment that an MI5 officer visited Morocco three times during the time Mr Mohamed was being held there. MI5 insists it was unaware of his rendition to Morocco in 2002.

When the US government tortures, or outsources torture, it broadcasts to the world that it doesn't care about the rule of law; human dignity, or human rights; it observes those values only in their breach, through the use of torture.

There are compelling reasons not to torture.

It is counterproductive in the extreme, and rarely produces actionable intelligence, because those tortured are saying whatever they can think of in order to get the torture to stop.

And lastly, it also gives carte blanche to countries which don't very much like the US to torture American military and civilians.

The US-led international “anti-ISIS” coalition has committed a new massacre, this time in the village of Jazaa, located in the southeastern countryside of the northeastern Syrian province of Hasakeh. According to local sources, at least 41 people were killed and 35 left wounded, after coalition jets targeted mosque in the village of Jazaa, located 35 km east of the town of Al Shaddadi. The total number of ISIS terrorists, said to present in the village and its surrounding, is estimated to be less than 15. Prior to that, the village was considered to be a safe place and has never witnessed any clashes as is relatively far from direct contact lines between the Syrian Army and the so-called “Syrian Democratic Forces.” It is noteworthy that the coalition forces, when identifying potential ground targets in the area, often rely on information, provided by the so-called “Revolutionary Commando Army”, a jihadist group backed by the US.

ACLU Settles Torture Case With CIA-Contracted Psychologists

The ACLU has declared a “historic victory” following the settlement of its lawsuit against two CIA-contracted psychologists involved in torturing suspects and developing the agency’s ‘enhanced interrogation program.’ The terms are confidential.

SURVIVORS WIN CONFIDENTIAL SETTLEMENT IN LAWSUIT AGAINST CIA TORTURE PSYCHOLOGISTS

Two psychologists, James Mitchell and Bruce Jessen, who were contracted by the CIA to develop torture techniques, agreed to a confidential settlement with torture survivors.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) sued Mitchell and Jessen on behalf of Suleiman Abdullah Salim, Mohamed Ahmed Ben Soud, and the family of Gul Rahman. The lawsuit alleged the CIA contractors committed crimes that included water torture, forcing prisoners into boxes, and chaining prisoners in painful stress positions to walls.

“We brought this case seeking accountability and to help ensure that no one else has to endure torture and abuse, and we feel that we have achieved our goals,” the plaintiffs said in a joint statement posted by the ACLU.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In a just world, these two pieces of work should be cooling their heels in a jail cell, and not in a Club Fed, for the rest of their miserable lives.

But this is not a just world, and those who purvey torture techniques are honored, and protected, by the governments who put their practices in place with impunity.

The only penalties imposed were financial, and most probably, easily paid off.

Mitchell and Jessen should be shunned, henceforward and forever, by the profession of psychology: they are among the true monsters among us, and the fact that the Bush administration embraced what they offered, makes them monsters as well.

I would like to politely point out the following; when a country signs off on torture, or outsources it, that telegraphs to the world that for all the codswallop about valuing human rights, human dignity, and the protection of prisoners of war, that country observes those values in the breach, and not in the observation, of those values.

It also gives countries which do not like the United States carte blanche to torture US civilians and military personnel.

So please, all of those with family and friends in the military, please chew on that last one for a little while, OK?!?

Video: Israeli forces bring terror to Jerusalem hospital

This video shows Israeli occupation forces bringing terror and violence inside East Jerusalem’s Al-Makassed hospital.

At one point, Israeli occupation forces tried to seize a critically wounded man who was being taken to surgery.

The video shows medics and civilians attempting to protect the man, Muhammad Abu Ghanam, from being seized. But the 20-year-old died about 20 minutes after the commotion.

ARMED TO KILL WITH ‘NON-LETHAL’ WEAPONS

While Palestinian protesters are generally armed with rocks and a few sporadic Molotov cocktails, Israeli forces are armed with some of the world’s leading crowd control weapons.

Live bullets larger than .22 caliber are the only ammunitions used during clashes that are considered lethal by Israeli standards, but the classifications of tear gas, rubber-coated steel bullets, sponge rounds and .22 caliber live bullets as non-lethal, is, according to medical professionals, misleading.

Why the Saudi War on Yemen Is Seen as US State Terrorism

The US/Saudi war on Yemen is now in its third year, and the indiscriminate Saudi bombing campaign has destroyed much of the country’s infrastructure, left thousands dead and millions starving in a man-made famine, and triggered a cholera epidemic that has infected almost half a million people.

On July 23, the International Committee of the Red Cross warned that more than 600,000 people were expected to contract cholera in Yemen this year.

Most Americans are not aware of their country’s role in this war on the Middle East’s poorest country, but the Yemenis know very well that Washington supplies the weapons and sponsors the Saudi bombing campaign responsible for their suffering. In the capital Sanaa, anti-American graffiti are plastered on walls throughout the city screaming “USA kills Yemeni people,” and they see the war as not just as a Saudi war, but as a US war on their country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In Yemen, in its enabling the Saudis, the Unhinged, Surveilled States of America is colluding in Saudi war crimes, and state-sponsored terrorism against the Yemeni people. The following images are very graphic, but I believe, critically in need of being seen, in order to start some level of dialogue with the American people, as to whether these actions should be funded with their tax dollars, and performed in their names.

The Saudis are assassinating, and maiming non-combatants for life.

Images: Yemeni children killed and maimed for life, courtesy of Saudi bombings

Because the Saudis, aided by the US military, have closed the ports, so no food can get in, children are dying from the complications of malnutrition:

Images: Yemeni children dying from malnutrition.

And then, there's the cholera epidemic, potentially brought on by a weaponised form of the disease:

Yemeni children art trapped in the worst humanitarian disaster in modern history.

I am morally ashamed of my country's war crimes in Yemen; I wish Mike and I could emigrate to a country which doesn't indulge in this kind of behaviour, but we are far too old - and too broke - to do so.

EU funds firm supplying Israel with banned cluster weapons

The European Union is giving millions of dollars of “research” funding to a company that is helping Israel evade an international ban on cluster weapons.

Israel has specifically chosen the company, Elbit Systems, to supply new artillery cannons because a European manufacturer would restrict Israel from using cluster munitions.

Yet the European Commission, the EU’s executive bureaucracy, is shrugging its shoulders, insisting to The Electronic Intifada that the funding follows ethical guidelines.

Police Are Killing Citizens at Highest Rate Ever While Govt and Media Ignore It

Police have killed an average of over 3 people per day in 2017, and the numbers will only increase under the rhetoric used by the Trump Administration

Police in the United States are breaking records in 2017 by killing a record number of the same people they claim to serve and protect, and there is no change in sight under the current administration.

In 2017 alone, police have killed 746 people in the U.S., according to the Killed By Police database, which puts this year on pace to become the deadliest year on record. In contrast, in the first seven months of 2016, police killed 714 people; the number was slightly higher in 2015 with 725 killed; and it was noticeably lower in 2014 with 663 killed and in 2013 with 353 killed.

Farmer Heartbroken After Cop ‘Feared for His Life’ and Killed His Prize Goat

Portland, OR — Matt Minnick is a small farmer in Portland who is now very upset after a Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputy shot and killed his top breeding goat Sunday morning.

Because of the new construction by Minnick’s property, some damage was caused to a portion of his fence that his $1,200 prized New Zealand goat named Volt managed to escape through.

Volt was not some pit bull or rabid German Shepard — he was a goat.

As a friendly reminder, when children go to petting zoos, they are surrounded by these animals. There are thousands of petting zoos throughout the country at which children interact with goats on a daily basis. Amazingly enough, none of these children ‘fear for their lives’ and kill any of these goats

UN War Crimes Prosecutor Quits Commission After Unable To Frame, Prosecute Assad – Blames Russia

Police departments forced to take back hundreds of officers fired for misconduct

Since 2006, the nation’s largest police departments have fired at least 1,881 officers for misconduct that betrayed the public’s trust, from cheating on overtime to unjustified shootings. But The Washington Post has found that departments have been forced to reinstate more than 450 officers after appeals required by union contracts.

A San Antonio police officer caught on a dash cam challenging a handcuffed man to fight him for the chance to be released was reinstated in February. In the District, an officer convicted of sexually abusing a young woman in his patrol car was ordered returned to the force in 2015. And in Boston, an officer was returned to work in 2012 despite being accused of lying, drunkenness and driving a suspected gunman from the scene of a nightclub killing.

Russian vice-speaker urges UN to discuss US-led coalition’s strike on Raqqa hospital

Earlier on Saturday, reports came that on August 3 the coalition’s forces used phosphorus bombs to attack a hospital in Raqqa. The hospital bombarded with 20 shells was flattened. Nearby vehicles were also destroyed. No terrorists were reported to have been present in the hospital at the time of the air strike. The United Nations should have discussions about the US-led coalition’s attack on a hospital in the Syrian city of Raqqa, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma (lower house of Russia’s parliament) Irina Yarovaya said on Saturday. "It is time to conduct post-flight analysis both in literal and figurative meanings and work out whether it was either total incompetence and criminal negligence or a disguised intention to destroy those who are not terrorists," the lawmaker said. Another air strike of the coalition’s warplanes on a civilian facility raises a question "how long will the coalition help terrorists to bomb and destroy Syria?

Blackwater Murder Case Overturned By U.S. Appeals Court

By Aaron Kesel

A U.S. appeals court on Friday dismissed the first-degree murder charge against a former Blackwater employee, Nicholas A. Slatten, and ordered re-sentencings for three others convicted in the case.

Blackwater killed 17 Iraqi civilians during a 2007 assault on a Baghdad public square. Four of the guards were later convicted in U.S. court of either murder or manslaughter charges as a result of the incident after a 12-person jury found the men guilty of opening fire on the Iraqis denying them a retrial...

Saudis Block Fuel for UN Aid Flights in Yemen

The humanitarian situation has been growing ever worse in northern Yemen for months, with a Saudi blockade keeping aid out of the only port still controlled by the Shi’ite Houthis. The UN has been trying to get emergency aid into the capital city of Sanaa through the airport, but that seems to be no easier.

That’s because UN officials revealed today that Saudi Arabia is preventing, as part of the blockade, any shipments of jet fuel into Sanaa, meaning there’s no way for the UN planes to fly in, deliver aid, and still have enough fuel to fly out again.

UN officials warn the situation is increasingly bleak, with no real ability to get vital aid into parts of the country that are afflicted with a huge cholera epidemic, and are now on top of that facing an outbreak on meningitis.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Saudi Arabia's Prince Salman, the architect of this horrific war against the Yemeni people, is proving himself to be an absolute monster; unfortunately, he is a monster whose actions in Yemen have the the absolute blessing, support, and enabling by the government of the Unhinged Surveilled States of America.

I am profoundly disgusted to be a citizen of a country which is colluding with Saudi Arabian war crimes in Yemen. Both Mike and I are too old, and too broke to immigrate right now.

But the one thing I can do, is to bear Christian witness to these atrocities, and attempt to shine a light on the moral insanity of what this government is doing, in enabling Saudi war crimes in Yemen.

WAR CRIMES? THIRD OF BRITONS WANT TONY BLAIR TRIED OVER IRAQ INVASION

A third of Britons want former Prime Minister Tony Blair to be tried over his decision to invade Iraq alongside the US back in 2003.

According to the latest YouGov poll, 33 percent of respondents said the former Labour leader “knowingly misled Parliament and the public” and should therefore be prosecuted as a “war criminal.”

The poll comes just after a High Court ruling blocked an Iraqi general’s bid to prosecute Blair over his decision to intervene in Iraq.

Abdul Wahed Shannan Al Rabbat sought a private prosecution against Blair, who he accused of committing a “crime of aggression.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

It was a bloody shame that Mr. Al Rabbat, who attempted to get Tony Blair prosecuted for a crime of "aggression", which does not exist in either British or Welch law, was not better schooled in British jurisprudence before he brought the lawsuit forward, and did not come after Blair with a charge which was prosecutible under British law.

JURY TO RULE ON WHETHER THE CIA'S TORTURE ARCHITECTS WILL STAND TRIAL FOR KILLING AND MAIMING

Psychologist James Mitchell is the self-described "architect" of the CIA's torture program (a consulting gig that netted him a cool $80m at taxpayer expense), along with his partner John "Bruce" Jessen -- they're the pair who oversaw black-site torture programs that killed and maimed people who'd been convicted of no crime by any court, anywhere in the world.

Some of the survivors of this torture -- and the families of those murdered by the CIA torturers -- are seeking civil justice from Mitchell and Jessen, with the help of the ACLU.

Now a judge has ruled that a jury will decide whether the torture architects can be sued for their role in the torture and killing, including the death of Gul Rahman, who died of hypothermia while in chains in a cell, in a "starved, sleepless and freezing" state due to the torture he was subjected to.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to hope that the jury agrees that they should be tried for their war crimes, and get convicted.

Torture should never be something that agents of the US government do, ever; and I hope that all of their techniques get revealed to the general public, to make sure that this never happens again.

There was an interrogator during World War II who was remembered, very fondly, for the way he used kindness and empathy in his interrogations of Brits and our US military. The guy's name was Hanns Scharff.

Biological Warfare: US & Saudis Use Cholera to Kill Yemenis

Chemical/biological warfare is the term used to describe the use of chemical or biological agents as weapons to injure or kill humans, livestock, or plants. Chemical weapons are devices that use chemicals to inflict death or injury; biological weapons use pathogens or organisms that cause disease. Pathogens include bacteria, viruses, fungi, and toxins (poisons produced by animals or plants). – Library of Congress, Science Reference Services

Webmaster's Commentary:

This morally sickens and angers me no end.

I wish Mike and I could move to a civilized country where the government doesn't do such things; but we are both too broke, and too old to make that happen.

At 68, I am a citizen of a country colluding in war crimes in the Middle East and beyond, and collaborating with a country (Saudi Arabia) with a human rights record which would make Attila the Hun seem downright compassionate!

IF I can do nothing else, I will continue to be a Christian Witness to this genocide, and hopefully, get people talking about it, until the noise of that conversation becomes a (peaceful, logical) crescendo which can be heard all the way to the White House, State Department, and Pentagon.

Iraq War: Bid to prosecute Tony Blair rejected by High Court

Former Iraqi general Abdul Wahed Shannan Al Rabbat alleged the former prime minister committed "the crime of aggression" by invading Iraq in 2003.
No such crime exists in England and Wales and the court ruled there was "no prospect" of the case succeeding.

The general had wanted to prosecute Mr Blair, ex-Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, and ex-Attorney General Lord Goldsmith.

Last year, Westminster Magistrates' Court had turned down Mr Al Rabbat's bid to bring private prosecution.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. Al Rabbat should have been better schooled in British law, so that he could bring Tony Blair to the docket on a chargeable offence, under British Law; so unfortunately, because Mr. Al Rabbat did not do that, Phony Tony Blair gets to slip away from the war crimes charges he should be facing yet again.

Rand Paul Blocks NDAA Over Indefinite Detention

Sen. Rand Paul (R – KY) has blocked a motion by majority leader Mitch McConnell (R – KY) to advance the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the massive military spending bill, saying that the bill should instead face debate and possible amendments.

This sets the bill back for 6 weeks, at least.

In particular, Sen. Paul is seeking two amendments, one which ends NDAA authorization for indefinite detention of suspects, and another related to the Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF), something that was added to the House version but later quietly removed by the Speaker.

Paul’s protest is expected to delay the NDAA vote through at least the August recess, meaning a vote is unlikely until September. While this gives plenty of time for amendments to be debated, it’s not clear the Senate leadership will allow that no matter how much time they’re given.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Flawed Intelligence Has Led to Civilian Casualties": Peter Tatchell on US Drone Program

President Donald Trump is dramatically increasing the covert drone warfare, killing civilians more than ever in Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Lybia and Afghanistan. In June, five months in the White House Trump averaged attacks every 1.8 days, far superior to his predecessors Barack Obama and George Bush... According to the Bureau of Investigative Journalism (BIJ), 1600 US strikes were recorded in Afghanistan from January to June this year, killing 366-575 people, at least 18 were civilians. "More US strikes hit Afghanistan in the first six months of the year than in 2015 and 2016," reported the BIJ early in July 2017. In Yemen, 90 strikes killed from 81 to 120 people this year, at least 33-40 civilians including nine children. From 2001 to 2016, 254-276 strikes were confirmed on the country, which killed 890-1228, at least 166-210 were civilians...

Shocking new evidence could overturn Northern Ireland ruling that became an international blueprint for torture

British forces in Northern Ireland used waterboarding and electric shock treatment on detainees during the 1970s, newly uncovered files show. Witness statements and internal Whitehall correspondence released for the first time last month could have significant implications for international human rights law and British-Irish relations.

One victim of waterboarding in Belfast spoke out publicly about his experience for the first time at following the recovery of his original testimony from 1972, which recounts that he ‘felt like I was drowning or suffocating until I fell on the floor unconscious’

The documents were revealed at an event in London to mark the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture on 26 June, hosted by Matrix Chambers, along with the Pat Finucane Centre, the Committee on the Administration of Justice (CAJ) and Amnesty International.

The Arab world’s richest country, Saudi Arabia, went to war against the Arab world’s poorest country in 2015. In this period, Yemen – with a population of 25 million – has been substantially destroyed. The United Nations has been tracking the scale of the atrocity. The numbers are bewildering. Close to 20,000 people have died in this war, at least half of them civilians. The numbers of those injured could not be tabulated as half of Yemen’s hospitals and medical centers do not work. This means there is no accurate measure of those who come in to be treated.

Over 900 Palestinians Wounded in Al-Aqsa ClashesTEHRAN (FNA)- Hundreds of Palestinians were wounded in confrontations with Israeli forces many

Hundreds of Palestinians were wounded in confrontations with Israeli forces many by rubber-coated bullets since violence erupted over al-Aqsa restrictions on July 14.
Palestinian hospitals are facing a large influx of patients as clashes sparked by new security measures at the highly sensitive al-Aqsa mosque compound continue, New Arab reported.

More than two dozen Palestinians were wounded in fresh clashes on Sunday night, 21 people were injured at Bab Al-Asbat (Lion's Gate), outside al-Aqsa, 15 of them shot with rubber-coated bullets, reported the Palestinian Red Crescent.

There were also clashes at the Qalandiya checkpoint, located between Jerusalem and Ramallah, where ten people were injured.

Three people were shot by rubber bullets, six suffered from tear gas inhalation, and one person from a fall, the Red Crescent said.

International human rights groups have long condemned Israel's use of such bullets.

When Will America’s Crime Spree in Afghanistan End? “Punitive Raids” under the Cloak of “Humanitarian” Warfare

At the beginning of the year The Intercept published a lengthy article straightforwardly titled “The Crimes of the SEAL Team 6.” The article tells little about the heroism or professionalism of the servicemen of the American special forces unit SEAL Team 6, which Hollywood and bestselling authors are so fond of. The Intercept took the courage to investigate the darker side of war – crimes that are being routinely committed by US servicemen. The investigation into SEAL Team 6 was conducted for two years and included 18 interviews with former and current soldiers and officers of the unit. The Intercept article is somewhat reminiscent of The New York Times piece on the same topic published back in 2015.

Bahraini inmates seeking medical attention punished with torture, solitary confinement

A Bahraini human rights group says detainees being held at a detention center in the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom will be punished by solitary confinement and torture in case they seek medical attention from prison authorities.

Duraz Youth Movement announced on Friday that inmates at Dry Dock Detention Center will be locked up in solitary cells and subjected to torture should they demand treatment, Arabic-language Lualua television network reported.

The movement noted that the practice has been drawn up by one of the prison’s senior figures identified as Ahmad al-Amadi.

It also expressed deep concerns over the deteriorating health conditions of Ali Majed Rabea and Hussein Mahdi Qassem, stressing that the pair faces serious health risks after continuously being denied proper medical care.

CAMEROONIAN TROOPS TORTURED AND KILLED PRISONERS AT BASE USED FOR U.S. DRONE SURVEILLANCE

Troops in the West African nation of Cameroon have tortured prisoners at a remote military base that is also used by U.S. personnel and private contractors for drone surveillance and training missions.

As the U.S. military has fortified the Cameroonian site, known as Salak, and supported the elite local troops based there, the outpost has become the scene of illegal imprisonment, brutal torture, and even killings, according to a new investigation by The Intercept and the Goldsmiths, University of London-based research firm Forensic Architecture, based on extensive research by Amnesty International. Nearly 60 victims held at Salak described to Amnesty International how they were subjected to water torture, beaten with electric cables and boards, or tied and suspended with ropes, among other abuses.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US military absolutely cannot tolerate the practice of torture anywhere it functions on this planet, period, end of discussion.

When the US either tortures, or outsources, or ignores torture where it operates, the following happens; people around the world rightly understand that Americans have utterly no concern regarding human rights or human dignity, when it comes to prisoners of war; they don't care that the information is not actionable, and is simply stated to get the torture to stop; and it gives carte blanche to anyone around the world to torture American military and civilian personnel.

Back during World War II, there was an interrogator, Hanns Scharff, who only used kindness as his MO. Because of his effectiveness, humanitarianism, and his gentleness, he was so respected by the US that he was brought over to the US to lecture to the American military about interrogation.

I sincerely wish that the US military would consistently abide by this man's code of ethics; but then again, he was a truly civilised human being, for whom the ends did not justify the means.

A MERCENARY-LED SURGE WON’T SOLVE AFGHANISTAN

Private military contractors have spotted an opportunity as America’s longest war grinds on. Here’s a crazy idea floating around Washington these days, outlandish even by today’s outlandish standards: The United States should hire a mercenary army to “fix” Afghanistan, a country where we’ve been at war since 2001, spending billions along the way. The big idea here is that they could extricate U.S. soldiers from this quagmire, and somehow solve it

U.S. coalition guilty of war crimes in Mosul, says Amnesty report

Amnesty International published a report that says the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq has committed war crimes during the fight to gain control in the city of Mosul against the Islamic State.

"The scale and gravity of the loss of civilian lives during the military operation to retake Mosul must immediately be publicly acknowledged at the highest levels of government in Iraq and states that are part of the US-led coalition," Lynn Maalouf, Director of Research for the Middle East at Amnesty International, said in a statement.

The report says the U.S.-led coalition killed 3,706 civilians between Feb. 19 and June 19, using numbers from Airwars, a war watchdog group.

This is helpful.

The US military generally knows when North Korean missile tests will occur, but of course hasn’t launched a pre-emptive strike to stop one. But it’s “unusual” that the US would allow it to leak that Kim could have been eliminated and wasn’t, Baker explained.

The consultant believes it’s possible Washington allowed the information to leak to show that it doesn’t want to kill Kim at any chance it gets, in hopes that even an olive branch that small could persuade North Korea to slow the pace of its ballistic missile and nuclear program development.

Video Shows US-Backed Syrian Kurds Torturing Detainees

In a particularly embarrassing case of US allies torturing detainees, a video leaked to the Turkish media shows fighters in Kurdish YPG uniforms torturing at least two captive Arabs during interrogation. The video is said to have been from the end of May, and in Mansura District, west of Raqqa.

The two shows the YPG forces kicking and stomping on the prisoners, demanding information about the location of ISIS fighters, as one of the detainees screams that he doesn’t know anything about it. Kurdish officials confirmed the authenticity of the video.

Exactly what that leads to is unclear, as the Kurdish “Self-Protection” body described the act as the torture of “one of the ISIS mercenaries,” but offered no detail of how they decided that’s what the detainees were, let alone why they only mentioned one torture when the video clearly shows two people getting stomped.

FALSE FLAG: A NEW REPORT IN SWEDEN REVEALS ERDO?AN ORCHESTRATED JULY 15 COUP IN TURKEY

Last year’s failed coup attempt in Turkey is nothing but a false flag orchestrated by Turkey’s autocratic President Recep Tayip Erdo?an and his henchmen to create a pretext for a mass persecution of critics and opponents in a state of perpetual emergency, a new detailed study titled ‘July 15: Erdo?an’s Coup’ by Stockholm Center for Freedom (SCF) concluded.
Based on publicly available data, the coup indictments, testimonials in court trials, private interviews, reviews of military expert opinions and other evidence collected by researchers, SCF is fairly confident that this attempt did not even qualify a coup bid in any sense of military mobilization which was unusually limited in numbers, confined in few cities, poorly managed, defied the established practices, tradition, rules of engagement and standard operating procedures in Turkish military.

History correctly told will equate America’s rape and destruction of Mosul to its gratuitous Hiroshima/Nagasaki nuking, along with its ruthless fire-bombing of Dresden and Toyko during WW II, three post-1948 Israeli terror wars on Gaza, imperial Japan’s rape of Nanking, and Nazi Germany’s infamous terror-bombing of Guernica, among other horrific high crimes of war and against humanity.

They flagrantly violated fundamental laws of war, grievously harming civilians most of all, massacring them indiscriminately.

Strategic bombing involves destroying an adversary’s economic and military ability to wage war. It targets its warmaking capacity and related infrastructure.

Terror bombing is another matter. It causes mass slaughter and destruction, grievously harming civilians, destroying or damaging nonmilitary related sites.
Geneva and other international laws forbid the targeting of civilians.

Exclusive: Seymour Hersh Dishes on New Exposé Upending the Official Story About Trump and Syrian Chemical Attacks

This weekend, Hersh reported that the alleged chemical attack in Idlib, Syria, this March was not perpetrated by the Syrian military, as the Trump administration has claimed. Relying on a high-level adviser to the CIA and the Defense Intelligence Agency as his source, Hersh punched holes in the official narrative of the chemical attack, reporting that the Syrian bombing had actually targeted a high-level jihadi meeting with conventional munitions and warned the U.S. government of the strike beforehand, using a deconfliction channel. The strike hit a facility that may have contained chemicals such as chlorine and fertilizer that would have produced a cloud as well as neurological symptoms in victims that could be mistaken for sarin.

Inside Yemeni Prisons: we could hear their screams

Webmaster's Commentary:

This makes me physically ill, on a number of levels.

First, torture does not produce actionable intelligence, and simply gets the tortured person to say whatever the torturers want to hear in order to get the torture to stop.

Second, it demonstrates that for all the palaver American politicians drivel on about in terms of the Unhinged Surveilled State of America caring about human rights, human decency, and humane treatment of prisoners of war, the deep American state doesn't give a damn about any of this, at any level of this government.

Third, using, or outsourcing, torture gives carte blanche for any government around the world to torture American civilians or military members at will; please pay attention to this aspect of the American use of torture very carefully.

One of the most valuable German intelligence officers in World War II was Hans Scharff, who never used brutality; only kindness. This man was so respected by the American military that he was invited to lecture about humane interrogation after the war.

The UAE operates a network of ‘black sites’ in war-torn Yemen, where terrorist suspects are abused and tortured, an AP investigation has found. US personnel have been involved in at least some interrogations, agency sources said. There are at least 18 clandestine prisons across southern Yemen operated by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or by Yemeni forces created and trained by the Arab nations, AP reported on Thursday. A number of the estimated 2,000 detainees there are subjected to abuse and torture and have no legal protection, sources from the agency said.
