Renowned Europe-Based Composer Fond of Conducting Tehran Symphony Orchestra to Show Disrespect for Sanctions

Ali Rahbari, the prominent Iranian composer and conductor, who has worked with more than 120 European orchestras underlined his interest in cooperating with Tehran Symphony Orchestra without any conditions to voice opposition against the US unfair sanctions against Iran.

"Now that we are facing such an economic situation for the unfair sanctions imposed against my country, I like any patriot and compassionate Iranian have no expectations and, hence, have no condition (for conducting Tehran Symphony Orchestra)," Rahbari told FNA on Monday.

Rahbari was trained in Vienna as a pupil of Gottfried von Einem, Hans Swarowsky, and Karl Osterreicher.

He was the recipient of several major awards in his early conducting career. In 1977, he won the prestigious Gold Medal at the Besancon International Conductors' Competition following a silver medal at the Geneva Competition.
