Russia STANDS With Venezuela Against U.S. Imperialism, But Who Else Does?

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized the West’s interference in Venezuela’s internal affairs. Earlier, Nicolas Maduro announced the breakup of diplomatic relations with the United States in retaliation for the recognition of Juan Guaidó as interim Venezuelan president.

“The events in Venezuela show how the progressive Western community is actually dealing with international law, sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of states, deliberately changing power there,” Zakharova wrote on his Facebook page.

The situation in Venezuela worsened considerably after the inauguration of Nicolás Maduro, who was re-elected on January 10. Member countries of the Lima Group decided not to recognize the new mandate. Subsequently, Brazil, Paraguay, Colombia, Canada, the United States and other Latin American countries decided to recognize the president of the deported National Assembly, Juan Guaidó as the interim president of the country.
