Moldova: Israeli Oligarch stole $1 billion

I am glad to learn that 3.5 million Moldovans have been taken to cleaners by an Israeli-born young Jewish billionaire Ilan Shor, 28.

On Monday, a Moldovan court rejected the appeal by Ilan Shor against his earlier sentence of house arrest. Last year, he was accused of stealing nearly $1 billion, or 12 percent of Moldova’s GDP. His house arrest began only last week.

Pity, had he ripped Americans of $1 billion, he would be enjoying a beautiful ‘retirement’ in sunny Tel Aviv, home to 280 Jewish brothels.

Did the Metropolitan Police send staff to Israel during last year's Gaza assault?

Last November, a post appeared on the blogging platform Medium which claimed that between March 1, 2014 and August 31, 2014 - a period of six months - some 80 employees of London's Metropolitan Police had "travelled to Israel."

This overlaps in part with Israel's unprecedented assault on the Gaza Strip, which lasted from July 8 to August 26. During 'Operation Protective Edge', Israeli armed forces killed some 2,100 Palestinians, including more than 500 children.

US rejects nuclear disarmament document over Israel concerns

The United States on Friday blocked a global document aimed at ridding the world of nuclear weapons, saying Egypt and other states tried to "cynically manipulate" the process by setting a deadline for Israel and its neighbors to meet within months on a Middle East zone free of such weapons.

POSTER COMMENT:Israel is not a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and has never publicly declared what is widely considered to be an extensive nuclear weapons program. A conference might force Israel to acknowledge it.
Note: U.S. intelligence has acknowledged that Israel has nuclear weapons.

Why One of the Wealthiest Countries in the World Is Failing to Feed Its People

On May 8 2015 I awoke to discover that not only were we not looking forward to a new coalition government in the UK, but that the overall collapse of the Liberal Democrats and the Labour Party had given the Conservative government a mandate. At an individual level I’m likely to see some benefits from the strong neo-liberalism that underpins this government’s ideology, but I’m concerned about a further deepening of the division between those who have and those who have not.

Why Is Bird Flu Hitting Millions of CAFO Birds but Sparing Backyard Flocks?

Bird flu is hitting an unprecedented number of CAFO lot chickens right now, but the situation is being reported in the mainstream media as a mystery. Why are backyard flocks escaping the virulent bird flu that’s wiping out millions of caged birds in biosecure metal buildings? Is it because birds raised in fresh air and sunshine are more capable of fighting off viruses? If that was true then why are the wild waterfowl: ducks and geese, etc., catching the deadly flu? Or maybe they’re not. Something is just not adding up here…

Dying for Nothing

I didn't watch any of the Memorial Day events on television. Memorial Day, it seems to me, should be only for the families of the dead. It's really impossible to remember someone we never knew.

Of course, these days Memorial Day gets larded with politics and pseudo-patriotism. It's nauseating to watch a bunch of actors, entertainers and politicians who never heard a gun fired in anger put on a maudlin performance as if they really gave a rat's toenail for the dead.

The fact is, war is started by old men who never go near the war, and wars are always fought by the young. The king of Belgium once noted that it takes 20 years of peace to produce a man and 20 seconds of war to destroy him. Think about that. All that a young human being is – intelligence, health, youth, education, knowledge, potential accomplishments – reduced to a bloody pile of broken bones and guts in an instant. They are strangers killing and being killed by strangers.

Israel’s New Justice Minister Expressed Hatred Against All Palestinians

A few days ago, on May 14th, Ms. Ayelet Shaked, who has no training in the law, took office as the new Minister of Justice in Israel, after having been appointed to this high post by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on May 6th.

Among other things, the Ministry of Justice’s responsibilities include legal advice and legislation, the Office of the State Attorney, Civilian Legal Aid, and the Public Defender. The Minister of Justice has considerable discretionary authority, especially because, unlike most nations, Israel has no written constitution. (Orthodox Jews wanted it to be the Torah, so instead there is no constitution at all.)

On 1 July 2014, Ms. Shaked posted an article to facebook, with the following in it, arguing why all Palestinians, including all who live in Israel (she made no distinction as to where a “Palestinian” lives), are members of “the Palestinian people” and that “the Palestinian people” are enemies of the State of Israel, and must therefore be destroyed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We're talking about Ms. Shaked advocating state sponsored genocide here against all Palestinians.

She is very much an interesting choice on the part of Netanyahu, and a terrifying window on his mindset.

What the Fall of Ramadi Means

The Middle East is becoming a basket of failed states. And as we look around that region, every country is looking out for No. 1.

The Turks looked the other way as volunteers entered Syria to join ISIS. The Turks then let Kurds cross into Syria to keep ISIS out of Kobane. Now, according to Assad, the Turks are aiding al-Qaida (the Nusra Front) in establishing its own caliphate in Idlib. The Saudis and Gulf Arabs also, says Assad, aided the Nusra Front in taking Idlib.

And what of us?

Considering the millions of dead, wounded, uprooted, homeless, sick and suffering, American-born and native-born, have our wars and bombings in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen been, on balance, more a blessing than a curse to the people we went to help?

Before we plunge back into these Middle East wars from which, at long last, we have begun to extricate ourselves, we ought to recall the words of that anonymous U.S. officer in Vietnam:

Webmaster's Commentary:

I agree with a lot Pat Buchanan says, but he leaves out a couple of critical factors here.

Number one, the US government did not invade and occupy Iraq, and the other countries he names, in order to 'help them'; we invaded Iraq for the oil, and to make absolutely certain that the oil was sold only in US dollars.

The US government invaded Libya to create regime change, and destroy the gold dinar, which Qaddafi was about to inaugurate.

The US government invaded Afghanistan for its curse of geographic significance, for the pipelines, and to control opium production.

The US government is backing Saudi intervention in Yemen, because by supporting Al Hadi, and with the Yemenite people having absolutely no say in their government's affairs, we created a failed state.

The US government is attempting to create regime change in Syria to further
isolate the current Iranian regime.

And one final thing about Iraq: anyone remember Muktada Al Sadr, the Iranian cleric, who stated that if US troops stayed one date beyond the SOFA agreement, that they would be considered fair game for his Mahdi army?!?

As reported in the longwarjournal.org, 3 May, 2015:

Radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al Sadr threatened to attack US personnel inside Iraq and beyond if the US House of Representatives passed a bill that would have recognized Kurdistan and Sunnis in western Iraq as their own independent countries. Sadr, whose Iranian-backed militia battled US and Coalition troops in Baghdad and central and southern Iraq during the occupation of Iraq, released a statement on his website on April 29 calling for attacks on US interests if Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act for 2016. The statement was translated on the Facebook page Shiʿa Jihadica: Clericalism, Militias, and Messianism.

I would strongly suggest that going back into any of these countries is one heck of a double-plus ungood thing for the US government to do.

The American people are war-weary, and war-skeptical at this point, and most generally, don't believe ANYTHING coming out of DC these days because of all the lies.

Russia, Iraq to conduct regular military cooperation talks at expert level — Kremlin

Russia and Iraq will maintain regular expert-level dialogue on military-technical cooperation, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday. He said this issue was discussed at a meeting of President Vladimir Putin with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Thursday.
"They held a discussion on the subject of military-technical cooperation. The dialogue will continue at a regular expert level," said the Kremlin official.
According to him, the meeting also focused on the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. "There is the potential for cooperation in this sphere," Peskov said.
The presidential press secretary generally assessed the conversation as substantive. "The sides touched upon issues of economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector, the activity there [in Iraq] of Russian companies, which, despite all the difficulties, are ready to expand their presence [in Iraq]," the Kremlin spokesman said.

Moscow says Riga Eastern Partnership summit lost opportunity to bridge gap on continent

"Despite the efforts of states that realize their responsibility for the fate of Europe, the Riga summit, under minute-serving tasks of certain participants, has lost another opportunity to make a step towards bridging a widening gap on the continent," the ministry said. "The final document actually reiterates all the stances advanced at the previous Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius."
"As a matter of fact, the Eastern Partnership remains an ideologized geopolitical project, the implementation of which is adversely impacted by certain European Union countries and their history-rooted anti-Russian complexes," the ministry underscored.
"The European Union once again muttered its inadequate position on Crimea," the ministry noted. "Some leaders of the European Union member states and representatives from Brussels will have to learn to respect the free choice and will of the people they are in the habit of dwelling on in other contexts."

The Next Ukraine

While the world’s attention is focused on the Middle East, as usual, where ISIS – the creation of Washington’s Saudi and Gulf allies – is the focus of the latest alleged “terrorist threat,” a potentially more dangerous crisis is being ramped up by our professional regime-changers in the volatile Balkans.

The Russian-Turkish plan to pipe Russian oil through Turkey and then on to Macedonia and thence into southern Europe has long been opposed by the West, which is seeking to block the Russians at every turn. Now the Western powers have found an effective way to stop it: by overthrowing the pro-Russian government of Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Looking at how "wonderfully" thinks have gone with regime change in Iraq, Syria, Ukraine, and Libya, one might imagine that these epic fails might give these busy little bees just a moment of pause; but apparently, absolutely not.

It appears that one of the most critical criteria for working for the US government are absolute, pathological inabilities to either learn from one's mistakes, or think a scenario all the way through.

Iran’s top leaders to take part in SCO summit in Russia — ambassador

Iran’s top leaders will take part in a Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s (SCO) summit in Ufa on July 9-10, Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei said on Friday.

Russia’s and Iran’s leaders, according to the Iranian diplomat, "have very good communication." They have had a number of meetings and telephone conversations, he noted.

In general, relations between our countries are expanding," he said.

Pentagon: Challenging China Over South Sea Islands ‘The Next Step’

In the latest indication yet that the US military intends to challenge China’s claims to a series of islands in the South China Sea, Pentagon officials are saying today that direct naval and aerial patrols over the islands are likely the “next step.”

The islands, near the Spratly chain, are unquestionably China’s, since the islands are man-made and were created by the Chinese themselves.

The Obama Administration has made challenging Chinese claims in the South China Sea such a go-to policy, however, that they are deciding to challenge China over islands that couldn’t possibly belong to anyone else.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to the Pentagon, White House and State Department; please, you do not need to reinforce the reality for the American people, that just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly thing you could collectively possibly do, is absolutely no guarantee that you will not do it.

Let us look at the reality: the US military, at this point in its existence, does not have the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to guarantee a positive outcome to a conventional war against China.

And BTW, I do not know if you had a chance to look at photos of Putin and Xi Jinping, standing shoulder to shoulder, during the Victory Day celebration in Moscow, but the message in the body language was thoroughly clear: war with one country is war with both countries.

So please, those in national leadership, do chew on that for a little while, won't you?!?

Russia abstains from vote on UN Security Council resolution on fire arms and light weapons

"The statement made by the Verkhovna Rada [Ukraine’s parliament - TASS] is highly contradictory. It looks like the refusal of the Bolsheviks to repay debts of the tsarist government. Why Rohingyas Are Willing To Risk Everything To Flee Myanmar

A majority of Rohingya Muslims live in Rakhine, a Buddhist majority state in western Myanmar. The group says its members descend from Arab traders and have lived in the area for hundreds of years. Many people in Myanmar, however, including prominent political and religious leaders, consider the Rohingyas Bengalis who migrated to Myanmar illegally and have no right to live in the country.

In 1982, Myanmar approved a law that officially restricted citizenship to members of ethnic groups it said had settled in modern-day Myanmar prior to 1823. The Rohingya were not considered one of those groups and its members effectively became stateless.

The lack of citizenship deprives Rohingyas of basic rights, including access to education, freedom of movement, land rights, the protection of their property and the right to marry freely.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is an absolute shame on the government of Myanmar, and heading toward an international disaster.

This law should be changed, and those responsible for not changing it put into the unblinking glare of universal public contempt.

And I never thought that I would have to say this, during this lifetime, but
"Watch out: here come the Buddhists?!?" This is really sad, as a couple of the great foundational concepts of Buddhism are compassion and tolerance.

Too bad those concepts have seemed to hit the skids in Myanmar.

‘Stalking’ of pro-vaccine lobbyists prompts warning from doctors’ group

The California Medical Association has sent a letter warning a California Chiropractic Association official who they say encouraged opponents of a mandatory vaccination bill to stalk lobbyists advocating for the legislation.

The emotional debate over Senate Bill 277, which would make vaccinations compulsory for California schoolchildren and passed the Senate last week, has taken a personal turn in recent weeks. Lobbyists championing the bill on behalf of the California Medical Association and the California Academy of Family Physicians have attracted the attention of bill opponents, who have begun sharing information on the lobbyists and disseminating photos of their locations on social media.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If Brian Stenzler actually created and disseminated this video, advocating for stalking if lobbyists, it was the absolutely wrong thing to do, and he should apologize.

And where is this video, please?!?

What I think may be going on here is that the public is very angry with a legislation bought and paid for by the medical-industrial complex. This story is trying to elicit sympathy for the fact that pro-vaccine doctors and lobbyists are feeling "threatened" by email threats and stalking.

And IF anti-vaxxers are actually doing this, CEASE AND DESIST IMMEDIATELY!! You are giving the California legislature, the medical industrial complex, and the lobbyists precisely what they want.

Fight this legally, in the courts, all the way up to the Supreme Court, if necessary. Then kick all of those in the California Legislature out for supporting this legislation, during the next election. But stalking and threatening is only make you get kookified by the media.

I am not anti-vaccine, but people have to do the due diligence, particularly when vaccinating children. I have a friend who owns a hair styling salon, and has two kids in public school. Their vaccinations are all up to date, but she refused to have them given the multiple vaccinations. Yes, it means more jabs for the kid, but it may be ultimately more safe for the child as well; just something to think about.

OBAMA’S STRATEGIC SHIFT

President Obama has belatedly detected the looming catastrophe in Syria and Iraq as Sunni terrorists gain ground. He also grasps the need for Russian and Iranian help. But his administration remains infested with neocons and liberal war hawks who could sabotage the needed deals, reports Robert Parry.

t’s finally dawning on President Barack Obama the grave dangers that have been created for the American Republic by decades of neoconservative dominance of U.S. foreign policy, but his moves in response to this dire threat remain hesitant and indecisive.

The only game-saving play open to Obama now – in response to recent Saudi-backed escalation of Sunni extremism in Syria and Iraq as well the new right-wing racist government in Israel – may be to forge an alliance with Iran and Russia as a counterforce in the Middle East that could save Syria’s relatively secular regime and reverse gains by the Islamic State inside Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to believe that the above is possible. But unfortunately, this President is way too hubristic and narcissistic to make the necessary changes to bring about a possible lasting peace.

I frankly think Obama is trying, by deploying ISIS, to get Americans to go along with a 3rd invasion of Iraq; an overthrow of Al-Assad in Damascus; and a re-invasion of Libya.

A short memo, based on a statement of the character Tony Soprano, to President Obama: FURGETTABOUTIT!!! There will be no support for US troops on the ground, and the equipment you are sending to Iraq is absolutely no good without skilled operators to make them do what they are supposed to do.

SAUDI ARABIA TO PURCHASE NUCLEAR ARMS FROM PAKISTAN: US OFFICIAL

Saudi Arabia’s nuclear medium-range ballistic DF-3A missiles in a military parade. (File Photo)
Saudi Arabia has made a “strategic decision” to purchase “off-the-shelf” nuclear weapons from Pakistan, a US official says.

"There has been a long-standing agreement in place with the Pakistanis and the House of Saud has now made the strategic decision to move forward," British newspaper Sunday Times quoted a former US defense official as saying in a Sunday report.

"Hundreds of people at [CIA headquarters in] Langley" were trying to discover if Islamabad had already supplied the Persian Gulf nation with nuclear technology or arms, another unnamed US intelligence official said.

Over the past three decades Saudi Arabia has financed considerable amounts of Islamabad's nuclear program and provided it with billions of dollars of subsidized oil.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel has had nuclear weapons for years, so Saudi Arabia is acquiring them as a deterrent, and many other Middle Eastern countries may do the same as well.

But this does not augur well for peace in the region, or the world, for that matter.

They’re calling it “Blizzmatik.” And once you watch this video, you’ll realize it’s a pretty fitting name.

Huddled under tarps to protect his equipment, Gramatik played through a freak snowstorm on May 9 at Red Rocks. The show was eventually cut short, but not before Gramatik played a partial set while sliding around in the snow and making snow angels on stage.

War of the Idiot

Today, many European politicians and mainstream journalists cry crocodile tears about Syria´s ancient city of Palmyra coming under terrorist control. They express their concerns that the armed militants of the "Islamic State" will destroy Palmyra, which harbors the ruins of a great city that was once one of the world's key cultural hubs. It wouldn´t be the first time that the "Islamic State" destroys cultural heritage.

But those emotions are deeply hypocritical, because many of those who are now so concerned are, in reality, the ideological spin doctors of the "Islamic State" and other terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq. With their support for the so-called "Syrian Revolution," they fueled these movements.

Trails are still closed, and upgrades to the campground at Stanhope have been delayed.

"It's prevented us from getting in there and getting some of our work done early in the spring," said Parks Canada visitor experience manager Tara McNally MacPhee.

The Sesquisentennial of the War for Southern Independence as Symbolic of the Fallen State of the South

The Northern victory fundamentally changed the United States in myriad ways. It changed the U. S. from a voluntary Union of self-governing States into a Union of force and coercion, in which States which no longer desired to be a part of the Union were coerced by the bloodiest war of American history back into a Union fundamentally changed in its character, from a Union in which most governmental functions were performed by the States and the local communities which made up the States, confident in their powers to do so without interference from the central, federal government, to a “consolidated” government in which the central federal government potentially reigns supreme in all phases of governance, with its ability to vitally affect every resident of the U. S. in every phase of their lives.

Becoming a Global Pariah - Israel on the Run

These are desperate times for Israel. While Prime Murder Benjamin Netanyahu forms a new government with people who have said that Palestinians are not human, and who have openly called for genocide against them, he and they continue to talk about their security concerns, how the Israeli army is the most moral in the world, etc., etc. Yet beyond the ivory towers in which they have ensconced themselves, few people are buying the tattered goods they are selling.

Let’s look at a few examples.

FLASHBACK 2001 - Pan Am 103 Why Did They Die?

A four-month investigation by Time has disclosed evidence that raises new questions about the case. Among the discoveries:

-- According to an FBI field report from Germany, the suitcase originating in Malta that supposedly contained the bomb may not have been transferred to Pan Am Flight 103 in Frankfurt, as charged in the indictment of the two Libyans. Instead, the bomb-laden bag may have been substituted in Frankfurt for an innocent piece of luggage.

-- The rogue bag may have been placed on board the plane by Jibril's group with the help of Monzer al-Kassar, a Syrian drug dealer who was cooperating with the U.S.'s Drug Enforcement Administration in a drug sting operation. Al- Kassar thus may have been playing both sides of the fence.

< -- Jibril and his group may have targeted that flight because on board was an intelligence team led by Charles McKee, whose job was to find and rescue the hostages.

2012 Defense Intelligence Agency document: West will facilitate rise of Islamic State “in order to isolate the Syrian regime”

While initial mainstream media reporting is focused on the White House’s handling of the Benghazi consulate attack, a much “bigger picture” admission and confirmation is contained in one of the Defense Intelligence Agency documents circulated in 2012: that an ‘Islamic State’ is desired in Eastern Syria to effect the West’s policies in the region.

Astoundingly, the newly declassified report states that for “THE WEST, GULF COUNTRIES, AND TURKEY [WHO] SUPPORT THE [SYRIAN] OPPOSITION… THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF ESTABLISHING A DECLARED OR UNDECLARED SALAFIST PRINCIPALITY IN EASTERN SYRIA (HASAKA AND DER ZOR), AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE SUPPORTING POWERS TO THE OPPOSITION WANT, IN ORDER TO ISOLATE THE SYRIAN REGIME…”.

The DIA report, formerly classified “SECRET//NOFORN” and dated August 12, 2012, was circulated widely among various government agencies, including CENTCOM, the CIA, FBI, DHS, NGA, State Dept., and many others.

US, Israel duplicity over the Iran nuclear deal

As the US intensifies its efforts to conclude a nuclear deal with Iran, it is also seeking to appease Israel by promising further military assistance to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government in return for a retreat from the vociferous opposition to the framework.

According to the Times of Israel, Israel and the US are holding preliminary discussions for a "compensation package" that would include an increase in the number of F-35 fighter jets supplied by the US to Israel, as well as additional batteries for the Iron Dome, assistance for the Arrow 3 missile system and the purchasing of technology for intelligence gathering.

Last Sunday, Netanyahu declared: "It is both necessary and possible to achieve a better deal because extremists cannot be allowed to achieve their aims, not in Iran, not in Yemen and not in Jerusalem."
