NATO Eyes Air Defenses Over Fears Putin Will Target Baltics

NATO's newest members are nervous.

Troops are being trained up and reinforced. A new "spearhead force" is in the works. Fighter jets are scrambling. Military maneuvering is ramping up amid mounting concerns that Russian President Vladimir Putin will broaden his gaze beyond Crimea and Ukraine to the Baltic nations.

Valdis
Valdis Dombrovskis, vice president of the European Commission, warned that Russia was redrawing the map of Europe by force. Britain's Defense Secretary Michael Fallon last week said there was a "real and present danger" Russia's president would seek to destabilize Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania — all small NATO members with enough legitimate issues of disenfranchisement among their Russian minorities to make them prime potential targets for any Putin push.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to Valdis Dombrovskis: sir, have you gone absolutely foaming-at-the-mouth, barking MAD, to make these accusations in public?!?

It is disturbing to me that NATO could come to this conclusion only on the basis of trumped-up accusations with no basis in fact whatsoever. And just in case you are having a bad case of SMD (selective memory disorder) regarding Russia, let me gently acquaint you with the facts of the matter here.

1. The legitimately elected President of Ukraine was deposed in a European/US/ECB-sponsored coup. Poroshenko was then imposed on the people of Ukraine in an election more crooked than a dog's hind leg.

2. Crimea, which had been a part of Russia, and is Russian- speaking, was annexed by Kruschev, himself a native Ukrainian, in the 50s. When the government of Crimea realized that the legitimate government of Ukraine had been done away with, they requested, in what was characterized as a free and fair referendum, to join the Russian Federation.

3. Russia did not "annex" Crimea: Crimea asked to joinn the Russian Federation, because the legitimate government of Ukraine was destroyed in the putsch.

4. The Russia bashing I am seeing, both here in the US and abroad, coupled with the sanctions against it for no earthly rational reason, appear to be a prelude to some huge false flag, to be blamed upon it, as a pretext for war against it, to prevent the US dollar from losing its position as the world's primary currency.

5. NATO's ability to fight, and win, a war against Russia is tricky proposition at best; look how horrificically NATO has failed and flailed in Afghanistan, against a people with only relative primitive weapons.

ANY QUESTIONS, EU COMMISSION VICE PRESIDENT DOMBROVSKIS?!?
