RUBIO FAVORITE IN $HELDON $WEEP$TAKE$

Before Iowa and New Hampshire, GOP candidates are competing in the Sheldon Adelson primary, and some will travel to his posh Venetian hotel in Las Vegas this weekend in hopes of winning it. But one candidate — Marco Rubio — has emerged as the clear front-runner, according to nearly a half-dozen sources close to the multibillionaire casino mogul.

In recent weeks, Adelson, who spent $100 million on the 2012 campaign and could easily match that figure in 2016, has told friends that he views the Florida senator, whose hawkish defense views and unwavering support for Israel align with his own, as a fresh face who is “the future of the Republican Party.” He has also said that Rubio’s Cuban heritage and youth would give the party a strong opportunity to expand its brand and win the White House.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So elections, in this country, have come to this; it is no longer We the People who actually elect Presidents; it is the large corporations and front-men for Israel who buy candidates to fulfill their agendas, just as one would buy a side of beef.

And what is most depressing as to how this process has evolved, is the hard reality that the needs and concerns of working Americans are completely eclipsed by the needs and concerns of a foreign nation, and the huge corporations, which literally write most of the legislation under which the rest of us are forced to live.

Elections in the US are a Kabuki-like process, engineered to give the citizens of this country the illusion that they have some, even minor, control over their destinies when they absolutely do not.

And if you want a good look at how that works, take a look at what we know of the TPA:

Congress’ tax committees announced an agreement Thursday to speed through a bill to give President Barack Obama the fast-track authority that he will need to push mammoth new trade deals through Congress. While many believed a deal was in the works, news that it was actually done came as a surprise to members of both the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee, which had been called to a hearing on the deal less than 12 hours earlier. The “trade promotion authority” bill, or TPA, would allow the White House to cut new trade deals with Asian and European nations, and then pass them through Congress using expedited procedures. Under these rules, the deals cannot be amended or obstructed, and they get a simple up-or-down vote.

Again, great for corporations, but generally lousy for We the People.

Any questions, folks?!?
