“If Tehran obtained the S-300, it would be a game-changer in military thinking for tackling Iran. That could be a catalyst for Israeli air attacks before it is operational,” said Dan Goure, a long-time Pentagon advisor, in late August.
“This is a system that scares every Western air force,” he continued.
Russia is again showing its capabilities to play geopolitical chess very intelligently with its arms deals.
This could be the wringer that may, potentially, prevent an Israeli-led strike against Iran, unless the US and Israel strike before these weapons are delivered.
And of course, even if the US and Israel strike before these weapons are delivered, they have to take into consideration just what Russia is truly willing to do to protect and defend one of its largest trading partners.
And a memo to to the military and political policy makers in Washington and Tel Aviv; I certainly wouldn't bet that Russia will just sit on its hands, and let such an attack happen without responding.
