Pakistan PM: US Escalation in Afghanistan Will Destabilize Balochistan

Speaking just days before President Obama unveils a massive new escalation in neighboring Afghanistan, Pakistani Prime Minister Yousef Raza Gilani warned that he is increasingly concerned that the escalation could imperil Pakistan’s Balochistan Province.

The concern has been a topic of discussion since July, when the US launched an offensive in the Helmand River Valley. The US has dismissed the concerns about destabilizing Balochistan, insisting they were sure Pakistan could handle any consequences their war creates.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Pakistani Prime Minister Gilani: in case, sir, you and the others in the Pakistani civilian and military leadership have missed it, the very instability this new "surge" in Afghanistan will create is part of the desired outcome on the part of US and NATO.

The destabilization of Pakistan means that Russia will be hard-pressed to supply Iran with weapons or material by land, should there be a US/Israeli led military strike against Iran.

The destabilization of Pakistan also gives the US the perfect excuse to "save a nuclear-armed Pakistan from itself".
