Britain’s Digital Economy Bill: Free Speech Strangled, Last Nail Driven Into Coffin Of Privacy

The Digital Economy Bill could have been used, as it was originally intended, to have been a platform for a “more ambitious” country in delivering ultra-fast broadband and mobile networks, boosting digital skills and beefing up cyber security.

Instead, the government have focused on age verification practices for porn websites (opening up serious fraud concerns), given themselves “inappropriate” and “unfettered” powers to share citizen data across the public sector, destroy any semblance of privacy laws and strangle free speech even further.
