U.N. on target for Iran sanctions by mid-June-sources

A new round of U.N. sanctions against Iran will be ready by mid-June, European diplomatic sources said on Friday, but it remained uncertain how soon a draft proposal will be put to the Security Council.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Note that these alleged "sources" are not sourced.

Were I a betting person, I would not bet that this next round of sanctions will be passed by the Security Council.

As recently as this last Thursday, as reported in:

Russia's Lavrov has just gone on record as having said that the Iranian nuclear issue has to be resolved geopolitically, and not through military conflict. As reported in the article:

'In a meeting with ambassadors from Arab states on Wednesday, Lavrov reaffirmed Moscow's support for diplomatically engaging Tehran and warned against the “disastrous” consequences of taking military action.'

Russia most probably will not be on board regarding a new round of sanctions against Iran.

And China?!? In the immortal words of Tony Soprano, "fuggetaboutit!"

China is Iran's number-one trading partner, particularly in the area of energy. Is China about to publicly bite the hand that is feeding its voracious appetite for energy with which to fuel its growth? This is hardly likely.

So what we will have, when the sanctions are defeated at the UN, will be the unilateral and multilateral sanctions put into place by the EU, the UK, and the US, which will most probably be a prelude to war which will almost inevitably follow.
