Iraqi Parliament Orders Full Recount of May 12 Vote | WHAT REALLY HAPPENED

Iraqi Parliament Orders Full Recount of May 12 Vote

Nearly a month after the May 12 Iraqi election, final results look like they’re still far away. The Iraqi parliament on Wednesday announced that they are ordering a full recount of all 11 million votes cast.

Recounts were already ordered for Kirkuk, because of local complaints about fraud. While there were some questions in other provinces, a lot of the complaints come from Prime Minister Hayder Abadi, and seem to stem from his party doing much worse than was expected.

That, and Abadi’s complaints about the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has led to parliament firing the entire commission. They are temporarily replacing the commission with a panel of judges.
