Caving in to US Pressure, French Shipping Giant Stops Iran Commerce

French shipping company CMA CGM, one of the world’s largest cargo shipping companies, recently announced that it will stop doing business with Iran out of fear of becoming embroiled in US sanctions against the nation.

"Due to the Trump administration, we have decided to end our service for Iran," CMA CGM chief Rodolphe Saade said, according to the Times of Israel.

"Our Chinese competitors are hesitating a little, so maybe they have a different relationship with Trump, but we apply the rules."

CMA CGM is the world's third-largest container shipping fleet, according to United Nations statistics.
