IS THE END OF THE BRUTAL WAR IN YEMEN FINALLY AT HAND? | WHAT REALLY HAPPENED

IS THE END OF THE BRUTAL WAR IN YEMEN FINALLY AT HAND?

When the new Congress convenes Jan. 3, it is expected to pass a House resolution upholding congressional war powers and ending all direct U.S. involvement in the Saudi coalition’s war in Yemen. But hopes remain high that H. Con. Res. 138 will help to end the Yemen war itself. Congressional strategists and activists who have been working on the issue believe passage of the war powers measure will force Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the negotiating table.

Proponents of the war powers resolution, sponsored by Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California, argue the Saudis will not be able to continue the war without the political-diplomatic support of the United States, and the Yemen resolution will make dramatically clear the Saudis can no longer count on U.S. support.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is more than a bit of naivete on the part of these Congressional Representatives, thinking this resolution will kill the war in Yemen.

The Butcher of Yemen is not likely to sit down and negotiate with anyone at this point; and he doesn't give a damn about the Yemeni people killed and crippled for life, nor does he care about the lives lost in the Saudi military; they are simply "a means to an end"

While I wish them luck, because many thinking Americans, including me, do not wish to see the American military aid and abet Saudi war crimes in Yemen, I don't think that this legislation will be signed by President Trump, and that he will veto it, on the grounds that wars like the war in Yemen, "are good for the weaponry business", which it is.

But at what point do these war crimes tear away at the fabric of decency and justice, in this country?!?

This is a war upon which the American people need an open, honest discussion of how the US military got committed into this mess, and the quickest way out of it.
