President Trump and his administration imposed new sanctions on the family of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad over his role in the country’s near decade-long Civil War that has led to countless deaths across the region.

“The Trump administration on Tuesday imposed sanctions on Asma Assad, the wife of Syrian President Bashar Assad, and members of her immediate family for harming efforts to reach a political solution in the nearly decade-long civil war,” reports The Hill.
