Cumulus Media threatens conservative radio hosts with termination

In the aftermath of the riots on Capitol Hill last week by President Donald Trump’s supporters, who believed that there was widespread election fraud that cost Trump a second term, Cumulus Media has issued a memo aimed at its conservative talk show hosts ordering them to stop suggesting that the election was stolen or they would be subject to termination.

In a memo reported by Inside Music Media, Brian Philips, executive vice president of content for Cumulus and its program syndication arm Westwood One, wrote “We need to help induce national calm NOW,” and that the company “will not tolerate any suggestion that the election has not ended. The election has been resolved and there are no alternate acceptable ‘paths.’ ”

Phillips then warned hosts of the potential penalty for disobeying the order.

“If you transgress this policy, you can expect to separate from the company immediately,” he said.
