As a result of my suffering from a case of Greek deal burnout, you are getting a short assessment of the state of play. Groser under pressure to cave on TPP

Japan, Canada and US are united in pushing NZ to ditch its demands for better dairy export access to their protected markets.

Tim Groser has been spruiking an interesting new line within senior business circles about the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) being the "mother of all diversification".

Groser is coming under what he labels "intense pressure" to cave in on New Zealand's demands for better access for dairy exports to three heavily protected markets - Japan, Canada - and to a lesser extent the United States - so negotiators from all 12 TPP nations can quickly nail a deal.

In New Zealand - as was apparent with CEO responses to the 2015 Herald Mood of the Boardroom survey - business concern is strong that moves to diversify the economy should be accelerated to offset the dairy slump and a potential over-reliance on the slowing China market.

Thousands expected to rally against TPP

Thousands of people are expected to rally against the Trans-Pacific Partnership in both Auckland and Christchurch today.

More than 9000 people have RSVP'd to the Auckland event on Facebook, saying they'll be in the city to vent their rage.

The rally begins at Aotea Sq at 1pm and will be followed with a march to the US Consulate.

Barry Coates will act as MC and said there has been a rising wave of public concern about the behind-closed-doors trade deal.

"It comes from across society. It comes from lawyers, economists, public health specialists - a range of places," he explained.

"We're really hoping there's going to be a big turn out so we can send a strong message."

Lugansk people's Republic will never give up its Northern territories, which are currently controlled by the Kyiv security forces. This was announced today at a meeting with residents of Krasny Luch, said the head of LPR Igor Plotnitskiy.

Can You Trust a Country That Has Violated 20 International Agreements?

snip: On the other hand, it is AIPAC’s view that any killing that Israel does has been “GOOD” and must be “GOOD”. To say otherwise and accuse Israel is not simply to be supportive of human rights, or possibly anti-Zionist, but also possibly to be branded as that old enemy that went out of fashion in the 20th century with the Third Reich or at least has been thoroughly discredited and meets with not a fiber of serious intellectual support: anti-Semitic. If one is not to risk being accused of hating Jews or even hating oneself if one is Jewish, one must by this perforation and shredding of logic, by this muddling of distinct ideas, support Israel and all of its genocidal and expansionist policies in all important respects. One must regard nuclear weapons in Israel’s hands as inherently “GOOD” too.

Former Soviet officer Petrov, the man who has not clicked on the "red button", received the Dresden peace prize

30 years ago could start and, thanks to the decision of one person, not started a nuclear war.
Stanislav Petrov, now a Lieutenant Colonel, air defense forces, retired, in the late 1990s became known worldwide as the man who prevented world war III. This story was declassified years later after the incident, which occurred in the night from 25 to 26 September 1983.
That night Stanislav Petrov was on duty at the command post "Serpukhov - 15" early warning system for missile attack. Suddenly the system has registered five runs of American Intercontinental ballistic missiles. At the disposal of the operations duty still have a few minutes to assess the degree of hazard and report it to management. After analyzing the situation, Petrov decided that the alarm was false. As it turned out, his conclusions were correct, and the reason for the error lay in the technical aspects of the system.

Turns Out Personal Assistants Siri and Cortana Aren't As Personal As You Think

Whatever you say to Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Microsoft's (NASDAQ:MSFT) personal assistants Siri and Cortana may not be as private as you think.

Both companies store data input into their voice assistants including voice commands, location information, and, well, basically everything you say. Apple explains its recording and storage policy in its privacy policy for OS 8.1. The policy, which is easy enough to find if you are looking for it, but nothing anyone would ever stumble across if you aren't, spells out every manner in which your interaction with your phone is used by Apple, but bolds the following in order for it to stand out:

By using Siri or Dictation, you agree and consent to Apple's and its subsidiaries' and agents' transmission, collection, maintenance, processing, and use of this information, including your voice input and User Data, to provide and improve Siri, Dictation, and dictation functionality in other Apple products and services.

Most Scientific Research of Western Medicine Untrustable & Fraudulent, Say Insiders and Experts

Fraudulent scientific research is rife throughout the world due to the power of monetary influence wielded by Big Pharma, the giant cartel of multinational pharmaceutical corporations started over 100 years ago by the Rockefellers. This fraudulent scientific research is now so widespread and pervasive it is become an open secret. There is a long list of medical journal editors, doctors and professors on the “outside”, former Big Pharma employees and executives on the “inside”, as well as government officials somewhere in between, who have stepped forward as whistleblowers and acknowledged the fraud. Money buys favorable research. Period. This is not really surprising, given the history of Rockefeller Western medicine and the fact that Big Pharma’s business model is based on “managing” disease, “treating” symptoms and keeping patients on the hamster wheel, rather than actually healing them completely.

Iranian military official: ‘We laugh’ when US threatens to attack

The West’s frequent use of military threats and citing of their ability to attack Iran at will has become a joke among Iranian commanders in the military, according to a high ranking military official in the Islamic Republic’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported on Wednesday.

Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Asoudi alluded to the West’s hesitancy to use military force and mocked its resolve while speaking to troops in the North.

“We should thank Obama for refreshing us by referring to his ‘options on the table’, including the military one; we just relax and laugh at such ridiculous words,” Asoudi said.

6th Planned Parenthood video released

A Los Angeles Superior Court previously issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting the Center for Medical Progress from releasing videos featuring leaders of StemExpress, a company that provides blood, tissue and other specimen to biomedical researchers.

"Stem Express is trying to suppress a specific video recording of a meeting with their top leadership where their leadership admitted that they sometimes get fully intact fetuses shipped to their laboratory from the abortion clinics that they work with and that could be prima facie evidence of born-alive infants," he said.

Keeping status quo in Syria is unacceptable — Lavrov

"But the difference from the earlier contacts is that we are meeting on the background of the understanding that keeping status quo in Syria and in the region is unacceptable," he said. "It is clear for everyone, even for those who used to doubt the main target is to prevent the terrorist from seizing new territories. A common anti-terror objective is on the foreground now."
The Russian foreign minister reiterated the initiative of President Vladimir Putin calling on all the forces, which do not accept terrorism, to unite in fighting the Islamic State, Jabhat al-Nusra and similar groups.

Another representative of the Cairo follow-up committee, Jihad Makdissi, told TASS the negotiators had discussed a roadmap for peace settlement in Syria.
The conversation at the Foreign Ministry was held in the context of the documents drafted by the Syrian participants during the conference in Cairo, and the discussions embraced the roadmap, a national charter, as well as resumption of the process of the Geneva communique implementation so that we could get over to a political transitional period in Syria."

When the time comes, Donetsk and Luhansk Republic tanks will be in Kiev and to solve the outcome of the war

In the press constantly crawling through the stories that week (month) days or the Armed Forces of Ukraine Armed Forces Novorosije go on the offensive. However, this is unlikely, because now it's already the middle of August.

Begin combat operations should be in June, could be in May or early July, but up a war in mid-late August or early September - it means the inability to get any strategic goals, because the autumn - mud which hinders the movement of tanks and armored vehicles, and winter - they are still cold.

The situation on the frontline is likely to settle down and, with further tightening in 2015 should not expect any major fighting.

But if you still assume that there will be a significant deterioration of the military situation in August-September 2015, then there are two most realistic versions of events.

Another Illegal Charged With Brutal Murders That Cops Call ‘Almost Unimaginable’

In its coverage of the brutal murders of four people in Florida, including an unborn child, NBC News didn’t point out that the teenage suspect is an illegal immigrant until the final paragraph of its story on the gruesome killings east of Fort Myers. You have to read all the way to the end of the 8-paragraph report before you’re told that the “teenager from Belize,” identified as Brian Omar Hyde, illegally crossed the Texas border about seven months ago.

Hyde reportedly made his way to Florida, where he apparently lived with or near the people he’s now charged with slaughtering. One of the victims was said to have been a relative of the 19-year-old who allegedly beat his victims to death. Another one of the dead was a pregnant 17-year-old girl.

Top secret Clinton emails include drone talk

The two emails on Hillary Rodham Clinton's private server that an auditor deemed "top secret" include a discussion of a news article detailing a U.S. drone operation and a separate conversation that could point back to highly classified material in an improper manner or merely reflect information collected independently, U.S. officials who have reviewed the correspondence told The Associated Press.

The sourcing of the information in the emails could have significant political implications as the 2016 presidential campaign heats up. Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination, agreed this week to turn over to the FBI the private server she used as secretary of state, and Republicans in Congress have seized on the involvement of federal law enforcement as a sign that she was either negligent with the nation's secrets or worse.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Call me chauvinistic, but it struck me that Miss Frank gives us Americans extraordinarily short shrift for all that we did to liberate the people of Western Europe from the clutches of the Nazis. Congressional Democrats visiting Israel get earful about 'bad' Iran deal

Leaders of the pro-Israel lobby group The American Israel Public Affairs Committee could go home from Jerusalem to Washington this week with a deep sense of satisfaction that the visit they had arranged for a delegation of congressional Democrats was worth every cent. The 22 representatives were told by Israel’s top leadership that a tremendous majority of the Jewish Israeli public believes the agreement with Iran is wrong in its essence. They noted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the Likud, opposition leaders Isaac Herzog and former prime ministerial candidate Tzipi Livni, both from the Zionist Camp, all told the Americans in no uncertain terms that this is a bad agreement. Not a problematic agreement, not controversial nor insufficient — a bad agreement, unacceptable, dangerous.

Former US Intelligence Chief Admits Obama Took “Willful Decision” to Support ISIS

If one was only to read mainstream news in the West, you would probably be inculcated with the myth that Islamic State (ISIS) appeared almost out of thin air and many governments in the Western world have been completely shocked by the rise of this terror group. Perhaps you would correctly blame the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq as a major reason why such extreme groups gained power in the region, in addition to blaming certain governments for supposedly marginalizing Sunni’s.

But what most mainstream readers will be miserably ignorant of is the fact that one of the main opposition groups fighting the Bashar al-Assad government in Syria has been ISIS itself, a group that has been trained, funded, aided and armed by NATO countries in collusion with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Israel (to name a few). This reality has been completely omitted in numerous corporate media publications, once again demonstrating the inept and deceptive nature of mainstream news.

Corporate Media Crap Coverage of Sanders Is Norm

There are now articles about the predictable fluff BS horserace personality lifestyle crap coverage by the corporate media of the Bernie Sanders for president campaign (and articles about the predictable non-coverage of the Jill Stein for president campaign).

I wish it would all go away, as I think having no election would be preferable to holding such a broken one, and I'd limit even an open, free, credible, functioning, publicly-funded, fairly reported election to something under 6 months in duration.

But the Sanders coverage is actually far better, not worse, than I would have predicted. HUMA ABEDIN PLEDGES TO PRESERVE EMAILS AFTER JUDGE’S ORDER

Two aides to former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton have agreed not to delete any work-related emails or documents following an order from a federal judge that they preserve the records, according to their lawyers.

The pledges from Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills are contained in court documents submitted by the State Department this week as a part of a public records lawsuit brought by the conservative group Judicial Watch.

That lawsuit sought records related to Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state, specifically documents about the work of Abedin, Clinton’s former deputy chief of staff.

Photos Show Prison Guards Escorting Crying Female Inmate into Planned Parenthood

Columbia, South Carolina – Two correctional officers with the South Carolina Department of Corrections were photographed on May 30, 2015, escorting an obviously distraught female inmate into the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Columbia, South Carolina.

The handcuffed woman was wearing tan prison attire as she was accompanied into the Planned Parenthood facility – presumably for an abortion — by two uniformed prison guards. She was visibly upset and wiped away a tear as she entered Planned Parenthood.

It is doubtful that the prisoner was at Planned Parenthood for anything other than abortion since prisons have infirmaries that handle routine gynecological care and treatment. Her apparent emotional state also gives rise to concerns that she may have been pressured or coerced into an abortion.

Michele Bachmann’s creepy End Times fantasies: Why the religious right yearns for World War III

One of the creepiest aspects of contemporary American politics is the unholy alliance between the Christian right and Israel. It’s uncomfortable because the religious right’s affinity for Israel is tied to a rather disturbing fever dream: Israel’s destruction. Many evangelicals are utterly convinced that every addition to the sum of suffering in the Middle East is but a sign of the end times, of Christ’s return.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What chills me to the bone about this is the mixing of religion and politics in this way.

As a Centrist Christian (God is, Christ is, Love is), I understand that our faith came from a Jewish background all those thousands of years ago; however, this blind love of Israel, no matter how inhumanely the government and people of this country treat the Palestinians, is just not sane, theologically or practically.

I don't know what the Hebrew word is for "Useful idiots", but that is surely what many Israelis may well think of the fundamentalists who support the country unconditionally, no matter what it might do.

Jesse Ventura accuses Jeb of Cuban cigar cover-up

Former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura said Thursday he was "astounded" that Jeb Bush's campaign would deny a decades-old gift of Cuban cigars.

The controversy centers on a box of Romeo y Julieta cigars Bush gave Ventura after a meeting of governors at the White House, where Ventura complained to then-president Bill Clinton about the “ridiculous” Cuban embargo and how it should be lifted.

Ventura, who recounted the story Wednesday on his Ora.TV “Off the Grid” show, said the gift was ironic, since Bush supported the embargo.

EPA, FBI, DOJ, FDA, CDC, ATF: Nearly every government agency routinely plots and carries out false flag operations to justify its own existence

The EPA used to prevent corporations from polluting the rivers, but now the EPA has become the polluter, the liar and the cover-up cartel. In that story, I pointed out the total absurdity of our sickening, corrupt government, where private citizens now have to conduct the science to expose the pollution of the EPA.

That got me thinking... hey, wait a minute. Almost EVERY federal government agency is now functioning as a rogue entity. Nearly all of them routinely carry out false flag events in order to justify their own existence (and increase their budgets).

Cheap oil is ruining the Saudis

The budget deficit in Saudi Arabia can reach 20% of GDP. Country for the first time in the last eight years began to borrow money on the financial markets. One of the bond loans has been posted this week. But experts believe that the accumulated reserves of the Kingdom will last for a long time and Riyadh will not renounce its policy of increasing oil exports.
This week Saudi Arabia has placed their bonds for 20 billion reais ($5.3 billion). This is the second loan for this summer — the size of the June 15 billion reais ($4 billion). Bloomberg emphasizes that Saudi Arabia came into the debt markets for the first time since 2007.
