A Neocon Admits the Plan to Bomb Iran

Not exactly known for truthfulness, U.S. neocons have been trying to reassure the American people that sinking a negotiated deal with Iran to limit its nuclear program would be a painless proposition, but at least one prominent neocon, Joshua Muravchik, acknowledges that the alternative will be war – and he likes the idea.

On Sunday, the neocon Washington Post allowed Muravchik to use its opinion section to advocate for an aggressive war against Iran – essentially a perpetual U.S. bombing campaign against the country – despite the fact that aggressive war is a violation of international law, condemned by the post-World War II Nuremberg Tribunal as “the supreme international crime.”

Police clash with anti-capitalist protesters in Frankfurt

Banks and supermarkets in Frankfurt announced that they would close early for the day, and the area around the ECB headquarters is only open to local residents and office employees.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Correction: The protesters are not anti-capitalist. They are anti-fascist.

Some definitions.

Capitalism: If you make money you keep it. If you lose money, you are solely responsible for that debt. Freedom means not only the freedom to succeed but the freedom to fail and the responsibility to accept either outcome.

Socialism: If you make money, it is taxed away form you to benefit society. If you lose money society is taxed to cover the losses you you can try again.

Fascism: If you make money you keep it. If you lose money society is taxed to cover the losses you you can try again.

Kremlin awaits Europe reaction to Ukraine’s Donbass status laws - Peskov

Moscow expects its European partners from the ‘Normandy Four’ to give their appraisals of the freshly-approved Ukrainian laws on self-rule in the southeastern regions.

“We have not yet heard any judgments on the part of our colleagues and partners. We still hope that such judgments will appear,” Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

He added that if the Minsk peace accords are undermined as a result of Kiev actions the situation would demand urgent involvement of all guarantors of the ceasefire.

US re-evaluation of Israel policy could pave way to UN condemnation

The US is “evaluating” its policy towards Israel in the wake of Benjamin Netanyahu’s re-election and campaign statements. This could involve passing a UN resolution condemning Israeli settlements.

President Obama called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday to congratulate him on winning the March 17 election, and used the opportunity to reaffirm Washington’s commitment to a two-state solution that would result in a “secure Israel alongside a sovereign and viable Palestine.”

The president also brought up Netanyahu’s campaign comment about Israeli Arabs and said the US was reassessing its options following the prime minister’s rejection of Palestinian statehood, a White House official told Reuters

Secrets revealed of how Israel manipulates U.S. public opinion

One of the Israeli government’s secrets to manipulating the American media has been revealed for the first time by new research.

Israel habitually launches its most unpopular and, sometimes, deadly attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza to coincide with big news events here in the U.S., so that they don’t get too much public attention, according to the study.

Lavrov on Alleged MH17 Crash Witnesses’ Accounts: Looks Like Hoax

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday questioned Western media reports on the crash of flight MH17 in Ukraine based on alleged eyewitnesses.

"What was published by the Reuters news agency, a reputed and respected media outlet, looks very much like, you know, what is called a hoax. There are some eyewitnesses who contradict each other and say things that sound bizarre to any expert, for example, a zigzagging missile, separating stages, a trail of blue smoke," he said.

At the same time, Lavrov said, Western media ignore officially documented information from eyewitnesses previously obtained by Russian media and investigators, including those indicating the presence of a Ukrainian military jet in the vicinity of the doomed flight.

Exonerated Cleveland murder suspect granted $1M for wrongful imprisonment

A Cleveland man falsely imprisoned for 39 years will initially receive just more than $1 million from the state for his time behind bars, the Ohio Court of Claims ruled Thursday.

The court granted partial judgment to Ricky Jackson, 59, for the 14,178 days he spent in prison for a murder he did not commit. The Court of Claims filed a request with the State Controlling Board to transfer $1,008,055.80 to pay Jackson.

Jackson had his death sentence overturned and was released from an Ohio state prison in November 2014 after the key witness in the case against him recanted his story. Jackson was convicted of the 1975 murder of Harold Franks and maintained his innocence throughout his incarceration. Eddie Vernon, who was 12 at the time of the murder, revealed to a Cleveland newspaper in 2012 that he had lied about Jackson and two other men's involvement in the murder because he wanted to help the police. His remarks led to Jackson receiving a new trial.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is why I cannot support a death penalty. The system makes mistakes, and until we can restore life to those it is wrongfully taken from, we should not take it to begin with.

A leftist news outlet claims that Second Amendment activists are supporting rape by advocating concealed carry on college campuses.

A leftist news outlet claims that Second Amendment activists are supporting rape by advocating concealed carry on college campuses.

On Tuesday, Raw Story said the push to legalize campus carry by pro-gun activists is “sheer assh*lery on many levels” and is also a “subtle form of rape denialism,” whatever that means.

“…These laws are functionally more pro-rape than anti-rape,” Raw Story’s Amanda Marcotte wrote. “After all, most campus rapists haven’t been convicted — duh — so it’s perfectly legal for them to own guns.”

“And, unlike victims, they are planning for the rapes to happen and so can plan to have access to a gun when they corner their victims.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think allowing women to carry conceal and the potential rapists KNOWING that some of their victims might be armed (without knowing which ones) will probably result in a decrease of rapes, and the history of crime rates in conceal carry areas supports this. But for the gun-grabbers, and twisted logic to support their agenda is acceptable, even if some of it gets as silly as the global warming people insisting that a hotter Earth is why we are getting record-setting winters!

“Beautiful Israel” group misleads on “cooperation” with Greenpeace, WWF

A series of propaganda videos have been posted on the Internet as part of Israel’s contributions to Expo 2015, the world’s fair, which will kick off in Milan, Italy, on 1 May. Portraying Israel as committed to peace and protection of the environment, one such video boasts that Israel invented the solar water heater.

This attempt to draw attention to Israel’s record on renewable energy appears to be in keeping with the fair’s message of “sustainability.” Yet it also smacks of hypocrisy. Israel has issued orders to halt the installation of solar panels intended to benefit Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

FBI Moves to Broaden Hacking Authority - Google Says it Poses “Monumental Constitutional Concern”

A judicial advisory panel Monday quietly approved a rule change that will broaden the FBI’s hacking authority despite fears raised by Google that the amended language represents a “monumental” constitutional concern.

The Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Criminal Rules voted 11-1 to modify an arcane federal rule to allow judges more flexibility in how they approve search warrants for electronic data, according to a Justice Department spokesman.

The FBI wants the expanded authority, which would allow it to more easily infiltrate computer networks to install malicious tracking software.

NATO is furious, again, claiming the treaty is in violation of international law. NATO does not recognize South Ossetian independence and insists every treaty they enter is a violation.

Is mass over-vaccination causing polio-like paralysis in children?

"The specific causes of this illness are still under investigation," says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about the rise of a so-called "mystery" disease that currently available evidence suggests may be caused by vaccines.

The media is referring to it as polio-like paralysis, a condition marked by nearly all the same symptoms as actual polio. But nobody is willing to actually call it polio because, according to the official story, polio has already been eradicated by vaccines.

So what's causing polio-like paralysis? Nobody knows, apparently. But a growing number of children are developing it, much to the chagrin of health authorities who are struggling to come up with an explanation for why children who should have been protected by vaccines are unable to move their limbs or walk.

The Horrifying Ways Jehovah Witnesses Keep Child Abuse Victims Silent

What my parents didn’t know, was that Jonathan had sexually molested another girl in our congregation. The elders knew this and had kept it a secret. This instruction became Exhibit 1 at my civil trial.

I don't believe much of the story that has come out. They did a 24 hour autopsy and declared him a suicide because he could have come out. Bull! They had him surrounded with machine guns a robot and an armored vehicle. They shot the house full of incendiary teargas. That's when the place went up. They say he shot one of his dogs but one dog was found near him him unshot. The other dog was found near the front door where the police tried to enter. They haven't produced a gun either. The whole thing stinks!

How Thatcher’s Government Covered Up a VIP Pedophile Ring

A newspaper editor was handed startling evidence that Britain’s top law enforcement official knew there was a VIP pedophile network in Westminster, at the heart of the British government. What happened next in the summer of 1984 helps to explain how shocking allegations of rape and murder against some of the country’s most powerful men went unchecked for decades.

This wave of “anti-Dilma” demonstrations which was planned weeks ago made Brazil’s first female president a magnet for all the misdeeds of Brazil's intransigent political class.

Operation Rent Seeking How the war on terrorism became a business model.

The syndrome the Bush administration created in Iraq was what former Pentagon critic Chuck Spinney has called a “self-licking ice cream cone”: the measures to fight the war on terrorism guaranteed more terrorists, which in turn guaranteed the agencies more money to fight the war on terrorism. It is a great business model for contractors and bureaucratic empire builders, but far less favorable as a national survival strategy.

Netanyahu's outright rejection of a Palestinian state and his promise to go on building more and more illegal settlements leave Obama without any wriggle room.

Jeb Bush, and the predictable arc of presidential primaries

I don't know if Jeb Bush is a naturally optimistic fellow, although if you asked him he'd surely say he is (every candidate has to proclaim their optimism, particularly about America). But in recent weeks he's had some cause for concern. Not long ago, an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found a full 42 percent of Republicans saying they wouldn't consider voting for him. Bush is the "establishment" candidate at a time when the Tea Party still dominates the Republican base.

And Republicans seem unusually taken with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who has all the correct positions for GOP primary voters, not to mention the glow that comes from being the Next Big Thing. After two elections in which older, familiar figures won the nomination then lost to Barack Obama, one might think the party is ready to nominate someone new.

But Bush may not have to worry. If the primaries go the way they usually do, he'll prevail.

What Does the Netanyahu Victory 'Mean' for America?

Was it a clear endorsement of Netanyahu's policies? Do we even know what those policies will turn out to be?

Didn’t other nations pretty much say to the US after Bush’s re-election, “Okay, but if you want to start or continue Bush’s wars, you are now on your own.”

Is it not at least conceivable that other nations should now respond to Israel and say, “Okay, but if you truly are not going to agree to a two-state solution, and if your settlements are going to continue to be planned and located to make a two-state solution impossible, then you are now on your own"?

I mean, can we not make continued support contingent on a policy that has at least some hope of leading to (1) peace in the Mideast, and (2) extrication of the US from a situation in which we are attacked and our citizens are killed because we are perceived to support Israel unconditionally?
