Get Vlad! - How Putin Blocked the U.S. Pivot to Asia

Putin isn’t a perfect man. He has his shortcomings and flaws like everyone else. But he appears to be a decent person who has made great strides in restoring Russia’s economy after it was looted by agents of the US following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. He has lifted living standards, increased pensions, reduced poverty, and improved education and health care which is why his public approval ratings are currently hovering at an eye-watering 86 percent. Even so, Putin is most admired for standing up to the United States and blocking its strategy to pivot to Asia. The proxy war in Ukraine is actually a struggle to thwart Washington’s plan to break up the Russian Federation, encircle China, control the flow of resources from Asia to Europe, and rule the world. Vladimir Putin is at the forefront of that conflagration which is why he has gained the respect and admiration of people around the world.

Three of the arrested military advisors are dual citizens of the United States and Israel, while the fourth advisor is from a Persian Gulf country, Iraq’s Sarma News Agency said.

NYPD Says Innocent, Unarmed People Shot By Cops Are ‘Walking Into Police Bullets’

New York Police Department official Zachary Tumin has been placed in charge of the NYPD’s social media p?r?e?s?e?n?c?e? propaganda. But the Deputy Commissioner doesn’t seem to be helping things for the infamously militarized police department that former Mayor Bloomberg rightly termed a “private army.” Recently, Tumin gave the world a glimpse into the warped psyche of police brutality. He tweeted that innocent people shot by cops have “gone off their meds” and are “walking into police bullets.”

There's really nothing to do at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin -- at least not in the winter.

"For most people it's a path to nowhere," said Ebert. "It's a path to somewhere for one person."

Christian college chaplain fired for preaching compassion and love over violence of American Sniper

On February 10th, MidAmerica Nazarene University’s (MNU) chaplain Randy Beckum gave his morning sermon, which wasn’t unusual – it was his job. But what was different that day was the response to the sermon – as one student paper put it, the sermon sparked an “outcry” and a torrent of criticism particularly on social media. The criticism ranged from complaints that Beckum had politicized his sermons to the idea that he had insulted Christians who served in the military.

Officials Declare ‘Eating Healthy’ a Mental Disorder

In an attempt to curb the mass rush for food change and reform, psychiatry has green lighted a public relations push to spread awareness about their new buzzword “orthorexia nervosa,” defined as “a pathological obsession for biologically pure and healthy nutrition.” In other words, experts are moving toward saying that our demand for nutrient-dense, healthful food is a mental disorder that must be treated.

4 Ways The White House Has Gone Full Doublespeak on Fast Track and the TPP

Maira Sutton
Activist Post

In a blog post published this week, the White House flat out uses doublespeak to tout the benefits of the TPP, even going so far as to claim that without these new trade agreements, "there would be no rules protecting American invention, artistic creativity, and research". That is purely bogus, much like the other lies the White House has been recently saying about its trade policies. Let's look at the four main myths they have been saying to sell lawmakers and the public on Fast Track for the TPP...

US War on ISIS a Trojan Horse

Ulson Gunnar
Activist Post

In August of 2013, even as the words came out of US President Barack Obama’s mouth regarding an “impending” US military strike against the Syrian state, the impotence of American foreign policy loomed over him and those who wrote his speech for him like an insurmountable wall. So absurd was America’s attempt to once again use the canard of “weapons of mass destruction” to justify yet another military intervention, that many believed America’s proxy war in Syria had finally reached its end.

The counterstroke by Russia included Syria’s immediate and unconditional surrendering of its chemical weapons arsenal and, with that, so evaporated America’s casus belli.

Few would believe if one told them then, that in 2015, that same discredited US would be routinely bombing Syrian territory and poised to justify the raising of an entire army of terrorists to wage war within Syria’s borders, yet that is precisely what is happening...

?EU won’t be pushed into confrontation over Ukraine – foreign policy chief

The EU is resisting calls from hotheads to supply arms to Ukraine, saying it won’t be pulled into a confrontation with Russia. Europeans cite the progress in implementing a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine between Kiev and local rebels.

The idea of providing lethal aid to Kiev is popular among many NATO officials and American politicians. US House Speaker John Boehner and a bipartisan group of top lawmakers called on President Barack Obama to deliver the weapons. But Europeans are opposing the move, which would likely escalate tensions with Russia.

“The European Union today is extremely realistic about developments in Russia. But we will never be trapped or forced or pushed or pulled into a confrontative [sic] attitude,” the EU’s Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini told the media on Friday, following an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Riga, Latvia.

“Raising the debt ceiling does not authorize new spending commitments. It simply allows the government to pay for expenses that Congress has already approved, and thus protects the creditworthiness of the US,” Lew said in a letter to the president of the Chamber of Representatives, Republican John Boehner.

Alan Greenspan Warns Stocks Are "Without Doubt Extremely Overvalued"

While America 'believes' it is highly productive, former Fed Chair Alan Greenspan instantly dispels that myth in another ominous appearance on CNBC this morning, "American productivity has gone nowhere in the last few years," and that is what is holding back wage growth. Furthermore, reiterating his concerns about the inverse relationship between surging entitlements and weak savings rates, Greenspan noted, "the annual rate of increase in entitlements of 9% per year...and the people that receive it believe they are getting their money back and have a right to it." There simply is no long-term investment as businesses favor short-term actions as the Maestro explains Fed QE lowering the real rate of interest "has been responsible for the rise in P/E multiples... and when rates normalize, that will reverse," adding that "we can't argue that we are extremely overvalued in the marketplace."

Two days into Boston Marathon bombing trial, defense already facing challenges

Before testimony began on Thursday, Tsarnaev’s lawyers complained to Judge George O’Toole that survivors’ testimony from Wednesday was too gruesome and should be limited. Defense attorney David Bruck argued that under federal death penalty law, victim-impact testimony is supposed to be presented during the sentencing phase of the trial.

Prosecutors countered that the survivors were not giving victim-impact testimony, instead merely describing what they saw on the day. Judge O’Toole ultimately agreed with prosecutors and refused to limit survivors’ testimony.

Toronto Star: Harper's terror fixation draws attention from Canada's failing economy

Two issues dominate Canadian politics. One is talked about. The other is not.

The one talked about is terrorism. It is the topic of the day.

Politicians furiously debate the government’s new anti-terror bill. Does it go too far? Would it do any good if passed?

Or, perversely, would it make matters worse?

The issue that is not much talked about any more — at least by Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservative government — is the economy.

At a fundamental level, the economy is failing. Any number of studies point to this fact. The latest was released this week by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

Beware of Savior Merkel

A few days ago, The International New York Times published an interesting op-ed by German journalist Jochen Bittner, who is a political editor at the staunch pro-American newspaper Die Zeit and a contributing opinion writer for The International New York Times.

If you read Bittner’s article, you will understand why other journalists are wondering which drugs the guys at Die Zeit are taking.

Bittner is worried that “our enlightened societies” suffer from an “autoimmune disease.” This is evident from the reluctance to support a war against Russia, the widespread opposition to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and the election of an “anti-globalization” government in Greece.

Thus, the German journalist comes to the conclusion that the West urgently needs “a dose of the Kennedy spirit.” And according to Bittner, there is only one Western leader left who has what it takes to save us:

ISIS militants raze Iraq's ancient Hatra city

BAGHDAD: ISIS militants have destroyed ancient remains of the 2,000-year-old city of Hatra in northern Iraq, the tourism and antiquities ministry said on Saturday.

An official told Reuters that the ministry had received reports from its employees in the northern city of Mosul, which is under the control of the radical Islamist group, that the site at Hatra had been demolished on Saturday.

The official said it was difficult to confirm the reports and the ministry had not received any pictures showing the extent of the damage.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A lot of people are probably wondering why ISIS, in the middle of war, is wasting time, money, and explosives demolishing ancient archaeological ruins.

One possible theory is that this destruction is a quid pro quo to ISIS supporters in Israel. Israel's entire claim to the lands of the Palestinians rests on biblical myths about the Kingdoms of David and Solomon and the First Temple, for which there is no hard archaeological evidence. The two best known claimed artifacts for the First Temple, the Pomegranate Temple Staff ornament and the Jehoash Tablet have been exposed as clever forgeries, and locations in Israel said to be connected with David and Solomon are so named out of tradition and "confirmation bias", with archaeologists admitting there is no actual hard data as to what they really were.

Contrast that with other nations such as Egypt, Iraq, Iran, etc. where one cannot take three steps without tripping over the evidence of their ancient histories. Such a plethora of archaeological evidence in other countries has proven to be a severe embarrassment to Israel as it underscores the paucity of such evidence for what Israel declares to be its historical origins. Much of the Torah is now known to have simply been copied from other sources. The story of the Exodus actually happened to the Hyksos, not the Hebrews, and the story of the great flood was copied almost verbatim from the Epic of Gilgamesh. People can be forgiven for asking if the stories of the First Temple are also likewise purloined from other places and peoples.

So Israel's governments, which justifies its theft on those stories, has a powerful motive to want the archaeological sites in other countries erased, to "level the playing field" by reducing the obvious contrast in the amount of such remains in other countries versus Israel itself. This may explain why, following the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, armed forces guarded the oil ministry while the Baghdad Museum was left wide open for looting and why American forces defaced the ancient city of UR, including building portions of a runway over the site.

“We Have Built an Independent State”. Interview with Deputy PM of Donetsk People’s Republic, Mikhail Mnukhin

"First and most importantly, we have built an independent state. Even though some parts of our territory are still controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the state system of the DPR is fully functional and controls all vital operations. We can pay salaries and social dowries, form state budgets, and arrange foreign trade.

At present, the DPR has legitimately elected authorities: the Head of the Republic, [Prime Minister] Alexander Zakharchenko, and the supreme legislative body, the People`s Council. The elections for local Councils will take place soon.

It should be stressed that we have achieved all these goals during unceasing hostilities and blockades made by the Ukrainian authorities, in addition to the critical humanitarian situation in the region. In our opinion, all of these problems are the main arguments in the fight against our enemy. We managed not only to survive, but also to develop a full-fledged state."

French Cartoonist Zeon Arrested for Anti-Zionist Work

The French cartoonist Zeon was arrested Tuesday morning by four police officers of the Brigade of Repression of Delinquency People (BRDP).

At 7 am, four police officers woke the cartoonist to take him before the judge to the High Court Instance of Paris. A complaint appears to have been filed by the BNVCA (National Bureau of Vigilance against Anti-Semitism).

The complaint seems to refer to the drawing – for which Zeon had yet been released last year by the 17th chamber – representing a balance and unbalanced weight of several historical crimes, but also for another drawing, which was not retained by the prosecutor at the trial, representing a Palestinian child stabbed by a knife-shaped Israel.

The judge has indicted the designer of incitement to racial, religious hatred, by speech, writing, picture or means of electronic communication. Zeon refused to answer his questions. He was set free in late morning.

When Netanyahu closed the door on peace talks

... Politicians from the right, among others, who claim that every time the moment of truth comes, PA [Palestinian Authority] President Mahmoud Abbas rejects peace agreements. But in at least one instance, that preconception proved unfounded, even false. Less than four years ago, it wasn't Abbas who ran away from the table, but rather [Israel] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who declined to advance talks between Abbas and then-president Shimon Peres. Although Abbas came to far-reaching understandings with Peres on a framework deal, or principles according to which talks would be restarted, at the last minute Netanyahu changed his mind about the agreement.

America Must Reject Netanyahu’s War Cry on Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu came to Washington this week to prepare the American people for war against Iran. Backed by American neoconservatives, the Israel lobby, and assorted other war hawks, Netanyahu insists that Iran intends to build a nuclear weapon and thus is an "existential threat" to Israel ... Thus the prime minister's objective is nothing less than to wreck the current negotiations and push America into a regime-changing war against Iran. Netanyahu's narrative is a fabric of lies and omissions ... So why is Netanyahu pushing war? Among several reasons, demonizing Iran reduces pressure on Israel to negotiate seriously with the Palestinians. Many Israelis prefer building Jewish settlements on Palestinians' land instead.

The long history of Israel gaming the 'Iranian threat'

... The real story of Netanyahu's speech is that he is continuing a long tradition in Israeli politics of demonising Iran to advance domestic and foreign policy interests. The history of that practice, in which Netanyahu has played a central role going back nearly two decades, shows that it has been based on a conscious strategy of vastly exaggerating the threat from Iran ... The demonisation of Iran has also served Netanyahu's political interest in manipulating the policy of the US government and other world powers. By portraying Iran as bent on the genocide of the Israeli Jews, Netanyahu has sought to get the Americans to threaten war against Iran, hoping for a real military confrontation that would lead to actual war with Iran that would reduce that country's power.

Parents and students in Colorado, Pennsylvania and New York have already opted out of the exams. Others are lobbying lawmakers and education officials for change.

In Florida last week, Gov. Rick Scott suspended spring testing for 11th graders.

In New Mexico, a few hundred students at Albuquerque High School joined the walkout despite warnings from administrators that they could face discipline. About 100 other students at nearby Highland High School also left class as testing began.
