Video: Depleted Uranium Children Iraq

There is widespread contamination with cancer-causing depleted uranium munitions in Afghanistan and Iraq causing dramatically rising birth deformities. This video was censored on you tube...Lets see how long it will stay up this time...

Webmaster's Commentary:

Warning: very graphic footage. This is what American occupation looks like to the parents of these kids.

The waste of Israel's Gaza war

The homeless remain stranded and, it seems, forgotten. The international community pledged $4bn to rebuild Gaza after the war ? a publicity stunt says one lady I spoke to who lives with her children in a tent by the side of the rubble once their home.

After the war, Israel left 75 tonnes of depleted uranium in the soil, while half of Gaza's hospitals were demolished ? and that's just the infrastructure.

At least 1,440 Palestinians were killed by Israeli soldiers and artillery whose aim, the establishment still maintains, was to neutralise Hamas fighters. Of those killed, 431 were children and 114 women, according to Palestinian sources.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Every dollar you pay in taxes which goes to support Israel goes to support precisely what Israel is doing to Gazan Palestinians.

HHS extends liability shield to antivirals used for H1N1

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently provided a shield against damage claims related to the use of the antiviral drugs oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza) in the current H1N1 influenza pandemic.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How convenient for the makers of these vaccines, and how much more a reason to "just say no" if these become "mandatory".

Official: US Won’t Forcibly Board North Korean Ship

At the time of the resolution, which the White House touted as a “strong and united international response,” many analysts had noted that the provisions were ultimately unenforceable. It seems that in its pursuit of the ship based on its suspicions, the US has ultimately proved that analysis accurate.

Webmaster's Commentary:

More sound and fury, signifying... nothing.

The only sane thing to to is beg China to get North Korea back to the bargaining table, and this time, the US needs to keep its word when it makes a bargain with the North Korean leadership.

Obama: Iran Violence May Endanger Direct Talks

President Obama has made various non-specific proposals for direct diplomacy between the US and Iran in the past, but now says the chances of that happening have been harmed by the post-election violence and that he is waiting to see how the disputed election in Iran “plays itself out in the days and weeks ahead” before deciding whether or not to follow through on his repeated promises of talks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Right on cue! Let the continued demonization begin!

Pakistan's Asif Zardari faces army rebellion over India detente

According to sources close to Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Kiyani, senior officers are alarmed at the president's plans to divert troops and aircraft defending Pakistan's border with India and deploy them in a new offensive against Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants.

His comments raised hopes of a new thaw in the frosty relationship between India and Pakistan, but were questioned by analysts who said it defied the two nation's experience of three wars. They accused Mr Zardari of yielding to British and American pressure.

Lt-Gen Masood said Pakistan's military chiefs firmly believed that there must first be progress in finding a solution to their dispute over the Kashmir region before a better relationship could be considered worth having.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If Zardari can't get a positive response to his request to redeploy Pakistani troops, look for more drone attacks by the US, perhaps coupled with American military fighting the Taliban inside Pakistan (if this is not already happening).

Obama Years Ago Helped Fund Carbon Program He Is Now Pushing Through Congress

In 2000 and 2001, while Barack Obama served as a board member for a Chicago-based charitable foundation, he helped to fund a pioneering carbon trading exchange that is likely to fill a critical role in the controversial cap-and-trade carbon reduction scheme that President Obama is now trying to push rapidly through Congress.

During those two years, the Joyce Foundation gave nearly $1.1 million in two separate grants that were instrumental in developing and launching the privately-owned Chicago Climate Exchange, which now calls itself "North America's only cap and trade system for all six greenhouse gases, with global affiliates and projects worldwide."

World’s largest refugee camp keeps growing

The bloody conflict in Somalia has created the world's largest refugee camp, with 500 hungry and exhausted refugees pouring into this wind-swept camp in neighboring Kenya every day, the U.N. refugee agency said Friday.

Dadaab, just 50 miles from the Somali border, is home to more than 280,000 refugees in an area meant to hold just 90,000.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is all about which multinational interests wind up controlling Somalia's unexploited natural resources.

Thing of Africa as "the new Middle East", and the picture of why this area of the world is now such a flash point for violence and death comes into very clear focus.

Climate Bill Passes in House by Seven Votes

“Last night at 3:09 a.m., House Democrats filed a 309-page amendment and denied Republican and Democrat amendments to the tune of the 224 that were submitted,” complained Republican Mike Pence of Indiana during the day’s three-hour debate. “What’s the hurry?”

The hurry is the ambitious Obama administration goal of passing climate legislation before global climate talks in Copenhagen in December.

If passed by the Senate, the American Clean Energy and Security Act would create a cap-and-trade program to reduce climate warming emissions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One of the last major pieces of legislation passed by a congress which never actually read the document was the US Patriot Act.

And we know just how much of a body blow to the Constitution and Bill of Rights that was.

This is a complete fraud, and will do nothing to actually help the environment.

It will, with what will be essentially a surcharge on energy you use, make certain individuals more filthy rich than they already are.

As reported in

"The “privately-owned” Chicago Climate Exchange is heavily influenced by Obama cohorts Al Gore and Maurice Strong.

For years now Strong and Gore have been cashing in on that lucrative cottage industry known as man-made global warming.

Strong is on the board of directors of the Chicago Climate Exchange, Wikipedia-described as “the world’s first and North America’s only legally binding greenhouse gas emission registry reduction system for emission sources and offset projects in North America and Brazil.”

Gore, self-proclaimed Patron Saint of the Environment, buys his carbon off-sets from himself–the Generation Investment Management LLP, “an independent, private, owner-managed partnership established in 2004 with offices in London and Washington, D.C., of which he is both chairman and founding partner. The Generation Investment Management business has considerable influence over the major carbon credit trading firms that currently exist, including the Chicago Climate Exchange."

At the end of his emotional speech he says, "May Allah be with you Michael, always."

Interestingly enough, many media outlets, including The New York Times and ABC News Australia are misquoting this expression of faith.

US Announces Shift In Afghanistan Drug Policy

The United States has announced a new drug policy for opium-rich Afghanistan, saying it was phasing out funding for eradication programs while significantly increasing its funding for alternate crop and drug interdiction efforts.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Apparently, those making the huge profits from those opium poppies in Afghanistan have made their voices heard in the halls of power in various world capitals.

That's why we will never see decriminalization of drugs in this country: that would kill the profit from the sale of illegal drugs.

Israel Deflects Settlement Freeze Calls From Obama, International Community

Israel deflected growing international demands for a settlement freeze Saturday, saying the issue should be dealt with in future peace talks with the Palestinians.

On Friday, the Quartet of Mideast mediators and foreign ministers from the Group of Eight industrialized nations, meeting in Italy, called for a halt in construction. They rallied behind President Barack Obama, who seeks a freeze but has encountered Israeli resistance.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Israel is never going to stop building illegal settlements on Palestinian lands until the checks stop coming in the form of financial and military aid from the rest of the world. Ever.

But of course, Israel has the rest of the world so brainwashed that such a potentially effective lever will never be used, because countries stopping the aid would be branded as "anti-Semitic".

Obama Issues Signing Statement On War Spending BIll

On Friday, President Obama signed a new war spending bill into law, but "not without taking a page from his predecessor and ignoring a few elements in the legislation," the Hill reports.

The Obama administration announced in the statement it would disregard provisions of the legislation that, among other things, would compel the Obama administration to pressure the World Bank to strengthen labor and environmental standards and require the Treasury department to report to Congress on the activities of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Webmaster's Commentary:

In these signing statements, Obama has effectively isolated the Treasury Department, the IMF, and the World Bank from any possible congressional scrutiny or oversight.

Something smells here, and it sure as heck isn't the fragrance of roses!

Obama scoffs at Ahmadinejad's demand for apology

I would suggest that Mr. Ahmadinejad think carefully about the obligations he owes to his own people," he added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to President Obama: you need to think carefully about the obligations you owe to your own people; that is, to We the People of the United States of America.

You do remember us, don't you? We're the people for whom your campaign platform promised "change".

You have been given your marching orders about Iran from Bibi Netanyahu when he visited you last, and those orders were "...take care of Iran's nuclear program.....or else".

The last thing We the People need is another of these immoral and fiscally insane wars to neutralize Israel's perceived existential threats in the region. And Mr. President, you appreciate fully that these include all of Israel's neighbors.

And that statement about "...the United States has gone out of its way not to interfere with the election process in Iran,"; a thinking person doesn't know whether to laugh or cry when they read it.

If the US was doing nothing to influence or interfere with the election, why was Twitter not pulled down for maintenance when it was supposed to be, so that allegedly "true information" could get out of Iran about the protests?

Why, all of a sudden, did we find Reza Pahlavi, the son of the former Shah of Iran (an American-installed puppet, hated by his people), all of a sudden get "face time" on literally every news feed you could see, crying crocodile tears in front of the camera about the current situation in Iran?

Why, when there was a protest against the election results here in the US, were the flags which were waved those of the dictatorship of the Shah, and not the flag of the current Republic of Iran?

President Obama, the attempted destabilization of the current regime has not worked. So now what? Continued demonization of Iran for doing what it has, as a signatory to the NPT, a perfect right to do, develop nuclear energy in the building of a power plant?

And how can we demonize Iran for doing this, when we know perfectly well that Israel does have nuclear weapons, and refuses to sign the NPT?!?!?

Thinking Americans, particularly those with families serving in our military, remember very acutely the demonization of Saddam Hussein in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq.

They also understand now that this demonization was based on a pack of lies, sold to us by a government which was eager to use any excuse (or confession extracted under torture, as in the case Ibn al-Sheikh al-Libi who conveniently committed suicide in May of this year) to go to war. As reported here:

"Libi was captured fleeing Afghanistan in late 2001, and he vanished into the secret detention system run by the Bush administration. He became the unnamed source, according to Senate investigators, behind Bush administration claims in 2002 and 2003 that Iraq had provided training in chemical and biological weapons to al-Qaeda operatives. The claim was most famously delivered by then-Secretary of State Colin L. Powell in his address to the United Nations in February 2003. "

Mr. President, I urge you to think very carefully about what you do next regarding Iran.

We the People - and the world - are watching.

FDIC Breaks February Record; 5 Banks Fail Over Weekend

In its busiest weekend in decades, the FDIC closed 5 more banks bringing the number of total bank failures for the year to 45. This weekend exceeded the previous record when 4 banks failed on a single weekend in February. Two of the seized banks were located in California, two more in Georgia and one in Minnesota. The FDIC was able to find buyers for 4 of the 5 failed bank deposits.

Community Bank of West Georgia failed in the true sense of the word. The FDIC did not find a suitable bank to assume their deposits. The FDIC will mail checks directly to depositors for an amount within the FDIC insurance coverage limit. It is estimated that the bank had $1.1 million of uninsured deposits.

In the July issue of Sojourners magazine, the Rev. Stewart, who deflates big egos for a living, would have none of it. “It may be true that the Hebrew prophets used humor in that regard, to create social change, but it was also used by Borscht Belt social directors. We’ve got a lot more in common with them than the prophets.”

House Passes the 1,200-page Climate Bill that Congress was Not Allowed to Read

Objecting to the fact that 300 pages were added to the bill at 3 a.m., Minority leader John Boehner attempted a brief filibuster, giving time for colleagues and aides to scan the unread extra passages and present certain excerpts on the floor. Politico blasts his effort, reporting:

That wasn’t good enough for House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), who delayed the roll call vote by reading page-by-page through a 300-page managers’ amendment Democrats added at around 3 a.m. Friday. Boehner seemed to relish the hour-long stunt, picking out the bill’s most obscure language and then pontificating about what it might – or might not – mean.

White House denies ‘indefinite’ detention report

The White House dismissed reports that it has drafted an executive order allowing indefinite detention in the United States of some of the top terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay.

The source said that a task force established by the president was not due to present its recommendations until July, and that the administration would then work with Congress to find a solution to the conundrum.

The official was reacting to a report by The Washington Post that said the Obama administration “has drafted an executive order that would reassert presidential authority to incarcerate terrorism suspects indefinitely.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Note that this denial is never sourced.

This country can only have one standard for American justice, period, end of discussion; not two, three, four, or a trillion.

The only reason the military tribunals were ever established in the first place was that, under normal American legal practices with regard to evidence, many of these cases would have been bounced the heck out of court very quickly.

It has become very evident that torture was liberally applied to get the desired "confessions" from many of these men; as we have known from the time of the Catholic Inquisition, torture doesn't give you the truth. Torture gives the torturer what they want to hear, to achieve a specific outcome, financial or geopolitical.

The use of torture is illegal. But above and beyond that, the use of torture by Americans against prisoners of war (which is what these men truly are) is a monstrous moral indictment against this nation, and should never, ever be allowed to happen again.

What this government fears most about releasing some of these men is that they will tell the honest truth about what happened to them at Gitmo. No truly moral government can have its leadership piously prattle on about freedom, peace, human rights and human dignity, then order the torture of war prisoners.

Memo confirms Bush and Blair knew claims Iraq had WMDs were lies

A confidential memo obtained by the Observer, detailing a meeting between President George W. Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair, confirms their determination to press ahead with the invasion of Iraq in 2003 without any evidence of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and without United Nations approval.

The five-page memo, written by Blair’s foreign policy adviser Sir David Manning, is dated January 31, 2003, some two months before the invasion began. It records the thinking of Bush and Blair as it became increasingly obvious that United Nations weapons inspectors would not find the advanced weaponry, including a nuclear capability, that both leaders were using to justify military action.

FLASHBACK - Beware of Cap and Trade Climate Bills

Even these cost projections may underestimate the true costs, because they assume no unpleasant surprises. But the world has already witnessed many unpleasant surprises with Europe's ongoing efforts to impose a cap and trade program under the Kyoto Protocol, the international climate treaty to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In fact, European efforts have racked up significant costs while failing to reduce emissions.[5] Nearly every European country participating has higher emissions today than when the treaty was first signed in 1997. Further, despite ongoing criticism of the United States from Kyoto parties for failing to ratify the treaty, emissions in many of these nations are actually rising faster than in the United States.

Gun Control: What is the Agenda?

By Paul Craig Roberts
June 26, 2009 "Information Clearing House" --
Some years or decades ago I researched and reported on the Sullivan Act, one of America’s first gun control laws.

New York state senator Timothy Sullivan, a corrupt Tammany Hall politician, represented New York’s Red Hook district. Commercial travelers passing through the district would be relieved of their valuables by armed robbers. In order to protect themselves and their property, travelers armed themselves. This raised the risk of, and reduced the profit from, robbery. Sullivan’s outlaw constituents demanded that Sullivan introduce a law that would prohibit concealed carry of pistols, blackjacks, and daggers, thus reducing the risk to robbers from armed victims.

Business group opposes climate change bill

Published: June 26, 2009 at 10:14 PM

The head of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce advised legislators Friday to take time to read and consider the climate change bill before voting.

The House of Representatives passed the measure 219-212 in the evening.

Tom Donohue, the chamber president and chief executive officer, said at a lunch sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor that his group wants a bill reducing greenhouse gases. But he said any bill the chamber supports would need to avoid onerous requirements on businesses and preserve jobs, The Hill reported.

"Last night, those people being asked to vote were given a 1,200-and-some-odd-page document that they have never seen before. This is 'hurry up and do it,'" Donohue said. "Bob Dole used to say to members of the Senate, 'Let's all hurry up and vote on this before anybody has a chance to read it.'"

Not too long ago, global warming activism in the U.S. Capitol made some sort of carbon cap-and-trade legislation seem like a near certainty. But the tide may be turning.

According to Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., the ranking Republican of the Senate Environment and Public Works committee, a key committee needed for passage of a cap-and-trade bill, the trend indicates it can’t pass, at least in the U.S. Senate. He explained that the House, under the leadership of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, will pass anything, but it takes both houses of Congress for it to become law.

We have compiled a compendium of evidence to prove that the elite have been obsessed with eugenics and its modern day incarnation, population control, for well over 100 days and that goal of global population reduction is still in full force to this day.

Pastor Urges His Flock to Bring Guns to Church

Ken Pagano, the pastor of the New Bethel Church here, is passionate about gun rights. He shoots regularly at the local firing range, and his sermon two weeks ago was on “God, Guns, Gospel and Geometry.” And on Saturday night, he is inviting his congregation of 150 and others to wear or carry their firearms into the sanctuary to “celebrate our rights as Americans!” as a promotional flier for the “open carry celebration” puts it.

White House Is Drafting Executive Order to Allow Indefinite Detention of Terror Suspects

The Obama administration, fearing a battle with Congress that could stall plans to close the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, is drafting an executive order that would reassert presidential authority to incarcerate terrorism suspects indefinitely, according to three senior government officials with knowledge of White House deliberations.

Such an order would embrace claims by former president George W. Bush that certain people can be detained without trial for long periods under the laws of war. Obama advisers are concerned that bypassing Congress could place the president on weaker footing before the courts and anger key supporters, the officials said.

Microsoft charging "way too much" for Windows 7

"Doubling down on the disappointment is the fact that this is only a one user license. In a world where most homes are moving into a multiple PC environment it would enhance the consumer home experience if they could upgrade all their home PCs at a single low price with a single boxed purchase."

That view is shared by Ovum analyst, Mike Davis, who told PC Pro that the prices weren't low enough to drive mass adoption.

"You might get some movement from people who are unhappy with Vista," he says. "But people have got to be pretty unhappy with what they've got to pay £80 for Windows 7."

South to Boost Surgical Strike Capability Against North

The South Korean military plans to speed up efforts to deploy ground, air and naval weapons systems for use in strikes against key facilities in North Korea in the event of war, the Ministry of National Defense said Friday.

The updated plan is focused on securing independent capabilities to remove North Korea's asymmetrical military threat of nuclear and missile programs by deploying sophisticated surveillance, reconnaissance and striking assets.

In the case of an emergency, the military could conduct pre-emptive strikes against nuclear and missile facilities, an official at the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said

Healthcare industry spending $1.4 million - a day - on lobbyists

The healthcare industry is spending upwards of $1.4 million each day on average to lobby members of Congress on health care legislation, a report issued by Common Cause this week reveals.

“The top recipients of health industry campaign contributions from 2000 to 2008 are new Democrat Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) and Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AK) at $7.3 million and $6.3 million respectively,” National Journal reports. “All of the campaign finance data used in the report came from the Center for Responsive Politics.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The health care industry's "acquisitions" will simply vote as they're told, the hell with what people may really want or need in terms of health care.

Countries like Belgium have publicly and privately funded health care, and they have made it work. As reported in:

"You can be assured of the highest-quality medical care in Belgium, regarded as among the best healthcare systems in Europe. As in most countries, the system divides itself into state and private, though fees are payable in both, so you need to ensure that you are adequately covered through either the state insurance and/or private insurance. The advantages of the state mutuelle/mutualiteit scheme is that you can choose any doctor, clinic or hospital you like, in any location and without referral, according to your needs in much the same way as you can with private insurance."

If a country like Belgium can make something like this work, why can't the US?!?

Exclusive: Police Say Michael Jackson 'Heavily Addicted' to Oxycontin

Michael Jackson was "heavily addicted" to the powerful pain killer Oxycontin and received "daily doses" of it and of another pain killer, Demerol, according to a senior law enforcement official briefed on the initial investigation of his death.

The Los Angeles police were told Jackson received an injection of Demerol one hour before his death, the official said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I wonder why the focus is on the Oxycontin.

It's the Demerol that is the likely killer. It's effects are similar to a combination of cocaine (monoamine transporter inhibitor) and opiates. Heavy drug addicts often shoot a combination of heroine and cocaine which produces the same effect. This is what killed John Belushi. An OD of Demerol would produce the same result, and given that MJ's live-in doctor has vanished, I think we know what has happened here.

Media fantasies in Iran

Mousavi was from a generation that stood in front of the Shah's helicopter gunships, slept in trenches before Saddam's tanks, and waited hours in line for flour. But Tehran's tech-savvy are far from Frantz Fanon's lumpenproletariat. The hundreds of thousands trickled down to a few hundred this week precisely because they never came to revolt. Had they wanted a revolution, they could have had one when they crammed the streets in front of the state television and radio station. The bazaar shop owners, much less the oil refinery workers, have not gone on strike, nor will they. The opposition's tiny political infrastructure has all but been destroyed. The revolution will not be televised – or Twittered – because it was only going to happen in our imaginations.

Iraq: Order 81 and the plunder of farming

Latha Jishnu: Order 81 and the plunder of farming
New Delhi April 1, 2009, 0:52 IST
...the focus of the revival strategy that is under way in Iraq is intended not to help its farmers so much as to allow multinational seed companies to capture the market.
... the seeds that American and European seed giants are actively pushing in Iraq will, of course, qualify since Order 81 is designed to specifically to protect their interests.
...Worse still is the injunction against farmers using their own seeds. ...Five years after Order 81 was passed, farm activists across the world have got together to mark April 26 as International Seeds Day to help Iraqi farmers to break the vice-like grip of the global seed companies.

Our Political Prisoners

Did you know the United States has in recent years prosecuted hundreds of people for political reasons? This is a crime, or rather a crime wave, that has thus far been addressed primarily by ignoring it. You can read a lot about it from bloggers like Larisa Alexandrovna or Scott Horton. But you won't hear the president mention it on TV.

CARBONGATE – Global Warming Study Censored by EPA

The Competitive Enterprise Institute is today making public an internal study on climate science which was suppressed by the Environmental Protection Agency. Internal EPA email messages, released by CEI earlier in the week, indicate that the report was kept under wraps and its author silenced because of pressure to support the Administration’s agenda of regulating carbon dioxide.

The report finds that EPA, by adopting the United Nations’ 2007 “Fourth Assessment” report, is relying on outdated research and is ignoring major new developments. Those developments include a continued decline in global temperatures, a new consensus that future hurricanes will not be more frequent or intense, and new findings that water vapor will moderate, rather than exacerbate, temperature.

Double Whammy

The meteoric rise in health care costs, which has become an unending nightmare for U.S. businesses and consumers, is not an accident. This painful condition has arisen from excess government involvement in the system, tax provisions that encourage the over-utilization of health insurance, and government support of an out-of-control malpractice industry. Rather than allowing more bad policy to drive health care costs further upward, we should be looking at ways to allow market forces to reign them back in.

Members of U.S. House Financial Services Committee snapped up or dumped bank stocks as bottom fell out of market

As financial markets tumbled and the government worked to stave off panic by pumping billions of dollars into banks last fall, several members of Congress who oversee the banking industry were grabbing up or dumping bank stocks.

Anticipating bargains or profits or just trying to unload before the bottom fell out, these members of the House Financial Services Committee or brokers on their behalf were buying and selling stocks including Bank of America and Citigroup -- some of the very corporations their committee would later rap for greed, a Plain Dealer examination of congressional stock market transactions shows.

In 1965 and 1966, Garrity was put in charge of membership for the group and organized the dozen or so “rag-tag band of losers” into an outfit that garned a lot of press coverage.

Members of Congress profited from bank stocks as they voted on bailouts

Several members of Congress who oversee the banking industry and bemoaned the industry’s greed actually pocketed cash from investing in or selling the same banks they were rebuking when the market collapsed last year.

At least two members of Congress — an Ohio Democrat and a Florida Republican — invested or cashed out of bank stocks just as the fortunes of those companies fell. Ohio Democrat Charlie Wilson sold between $15,000 and $50,000 worth of Huntington Bancshares stock Nov. 14 — the same day the bank got $1.4 billion in bailout money from the Troubled Asset Relief Program.
