‘What part of no don’t you understand?’ TTIP critics target EU trade commissioner

EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom’s visit to London to promote the EU-US Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) has been met with protest, as MPs say more transparency is needed to address public concern.

Malmstrom’s meeting with business and political leaders Monday afternoon was an attempt to shore up more public support for the deal, which has been criticized for allowing large corporations to flourish at the expense of small businesses.

Business Secretary Vince Cable will tell the Commissioner there are many benefits for the US and the EU, but only if politicians are given access to TTIP as the treaty develops, so that they can ask questions on behalf of the public.

Protest group StopTTIP UK, however, say Monday’s meeting ignores the fact “people across the EU are loudly and clearly rejecting” TTIP, claiming the trade deal could jeopardize governments’ legal freedom and will lower trade standards.

How “omnipotent” hackers tied to NSA hid for 14 years—and were found at last

Kaspersky researchers have documented 500 infections by Equation Group in at least 42 countries, with Iran, Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Syria, and Mali topping the list. Because of a self-destruct mechanism built into the malware, the researchers suspect that this is just a tiny percentage of the total; the actual number of victims likely reaches into the tens of thousands.

‘Concrete steps for OSCE to monitor E. Ukraine’ agreed by Putin, Merkel, Poroshenko

The leaders of Russia, Germany and Ukraine have discussed the progress in implementing the Ukraine ceasefire deal amid an ongoing dispute over Kiev’s besieged military force in Debaltsevo.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is all well and good for these leaders to agree to a course of action and quite another to get the eastern Ukrainian republics, who are not part of the negotiations, to go along. Everyone is assuming that Putin is somehow able to influence the eastern Ukrainian Republics, but even Poroshenko is unable to control his own hard right sector, which has vowed to continue the fighting. And, if the reports we had yesterday are accurate, Poroshenko has been handed an ultimatum by his own military to end the war in one week, or be ousted. After a year, it is clear that Poroshenko cannot capture the east in just a week, and the Eastern Ukrainian Republic know this.

The initiative originated in the Russian Union of Copyright Holders – a nationwide organization headed by film director Nikita Mikhalkov. Global economy continues to wither as West Coast ports remain shut down

Has the world's economy officially tanked? One radio talk show host thinks so, and he has some data to back it up.

In a blog post on his website, Dave Hodges -- host of The Common Sense Show -- notes that economic indices are bottoming out and that's in large part due to a proposed agreement called the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which the Electronic Freedom Foundation describes as "a secretive, multinational trade agreement that threatens to extend restrictive intellectual property (IP) laws across the globe and rewrite international rules on its enforcement."

The forces behind the agreement, notes Hodges, have used their influence to stall delivery of critically important commodities until it is fully implemented among member nations.

The War Against Debt? We Lost it Two Thousand years Ago…

Even with Adam Smith’s clear analysis of the wealth of nations, published in those times, economics remains very simple: More money must come in than what goes out, whether running a household, a business or a nation; and of all institutions, banks should be aware of that and be teaching the ethics of frugality and saving real money and genuine prosperity rether than charging you to lend them your money which they use to make more profit on lending it out – prosperity for the banks!

Climate “Science”: Consensus or Conformity?

I started a PhD program in Environmental Engineering because I worried about climate change. It didn’t take long for me to become a skeptic.

My first paper, a study about precipitation intensity over the U.S., was rejected by reviewers because it contradicted the climate model projections. Cold logic on climate change policy

Change, after all, can be for the better or the worse, and at any rate it is inevitable; there has never been a lengthy period of climate stasis.

Just as there is no logical or scientific basis for thinking that climate change is new, there is no self-evident reason to assume that the climate of the past is “better” than the climate of the future.

“Islamic State Déjà Vu”: US Sponsored Islamic Fighters in the Balkans, Washington Was Behind the 2001 Terrorist Attacks in Macedonia

The following article focussing on the jihadist terrorist insurgency in Macedonia was first published by antiwar.com in July 2001, barely two months before the September 11, 2001 attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon.

Known and documented, since the Soviet-Afghan war, recruiting Mujahedin (“holy warriors”) to fight covert wars on Washington’s behest had become an integral part of US foreign policy. A report of the US Congress had revealed how the US administration – under advice from the National Security Council headed by Anthony Lake – had “helped turn Bosnia into a militant Islamic base” leading to the recruitment through the so-called “Militant Islamic Network,” of thousands of Mujahedin from the Muslim world.

Arkansas state senator suggests US nuke allies in order to deal with ISIS threat

Arkansas state Senator Jason Rapert took to Facebook to suggest that the best way to “quickly turn things around” in territory captured by Islamic State extremists would be a “strategically placed nuclear weapon.”

“I believe,” Rapert continued, “it is time to annihilate the strongholds and pursue the rest till we have them all captured or killed. A strategically placed nuclear weapon would save the lives of our soldiers and quickly turn things around.”

Oleg Tsarev: Deputies are evacuating families ahead of the upcoming coup in Kiev

Poroshenko turned out to be too independent, having, as a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, many personal contacts abroad. He is not as obedient as the Western curators would like him to be. His peaceful rhetoric is caused by pragmatic interests. In the case of a military scenario the influence of the military battalions, coordinated by Avakov, Kolomoisky and others, will increase, which will contribute to the weakening of Poroshenko's power. Moreover, it is clear that Ukraine will lose the war. As has happened before in history, the US can easily dump "the contractor". Let me remind you, war crimes have no statute of limitation. In addition, in Russia Poroshenko successfully operates a chocolate factory, which suggests that he has good connections in Moscow. All this can not please the Americans.

FLASHBACK - Water on Mars: Exploration & Evidence

/IMAGES/090310-phoenix-globs-02.jpg
Images of one of Phoenix's struts taken by the lander's robotic arm camera on Sols (or Martian days) 8, 31 and 44 of th emission. The two spheroids enclosed by the circle appear to merge with each other, which some Phoenix scientists argue is a sign that the globs are liquid water.

Webmaster's Commentary:

For decades, ever since the first Mariner showed the surface of Mars to be cratered like the Moon, NASA has declared Mars to be dead and dry, claiming that liquid water could not survive on the surface of Mars in such low atmospheric pressure. And it is true that pure water would boil off rather quickly.

But where on Earth does one find pure water? It just does not occur in nature.

Some years back, I and many others pointed out that one of the photos from the Mars Rover Spirit showed what looked to be liquid water on the surface.

NASA's response was that it had to be a "dust effect" because they KNEW that water could not survive in the open on Mars. But now scientists are acknowledging that sufficiently salty water will remain liquid at Martian temperatures.

Reminds me of a story I have told before, but you are going to get it again anyway. No, not the Viking Life Sciences fiasco, this story goes back further, to my High School Days in which I won a small scholarship with a project studying Tektites.

Tektites are small glass objects found around the world. They clearly have come from outer space, melted by their passage through the Earth's atmosphere, and because they show almost no evidence of long-term interactions with cosmic rays, that made the Moon the likely origin. I was already getting involved with the people up at JPL and availed myself of some of their laboratory equipment to analyze samples of Tektites, which I wound contained minute amounts of water. However, this was during the Apollo Mon flights and NASA had stated that the lunar samples returned by Apollo were totally anhydrous. On the basis of that mismatch, I was forced to conclude that wherever Tektites came from, it wasn't the Moon.

Fast forward about four decades, and scientists studying the Apollo rocks find water inside, held against the vacuum of space by capillary action. NASA then admits that their initial analysis of the Apollo samples did detect water (in the same percentage my analysis of Tektites had found) , but it was assumed (and we know what that means) to be a laboratory contaminant, because everyone at NASA KNEW the Moon could not hold water.

You can see why I have little regard for the official version of anything these days, especially from NASA! :)

Israeli Spying: The Mother of all Scandals

So here is the mother of all scandals.

For two years, the FBI has suspected AIPAC of spying for a foreign country, and for those two years (and for decades before) that group suspected of spying for Israel has been reshaping the US Congress for the benefit of a foreign government.

The head of Israel's election commission acted on Monday to limit any pre-election boost Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may get from a March 3 speech to the U.S. Congress in which he will warn of the threat from Iran's nuclear program.

The speech has caused controversy in Israel and the United States, where the Democrats and the White House are angry that the Republican speaker, John Boehner, invited Netanyahu to speak at a sensitive time in the nuclear negotiations between Iran and six big powers including Washington, and only two weeks before Israel's closely fought March 17 election.

Following complaints from opposition parties, election chief Salim Joubran decided that Netanyahu's address should be broadcast with a five-minute delay in Israel, giving news editors time to cut any statements deemed partisan.

France: Police Catch 73-Year-Old Jew Spray-Painting the Word “Jew” on 20 Cars

Jews have been known to fake attacks on themselves in order to generate sympathy (and shekels) from the stupid goyim. This latest example comes from France, which is a country that the Jew-run media has been focusing on a lot recently as a center of “resurgent anti-Semitism.”

Dangerous cold follows record-setting series of storms

A weekend blizzard that brought near-whiteout conditions and lightning strikes in coastal areas is being followed by some of the coldest weather the region has seen in more than a decade.

A bone-chilling blast of cold, with lows of minus-10 degrees, was forecast in parts of the state.

New York City nears record cold, as NYPD says man found dead on Coney Island boardwalk may have frozen to death

Temperatures hovered around 4 degrees, just a bit warmer than the record low of 1-degree, set in 1888. A man found dead Monday morning on the Coney Island boardwalk likely froze to death, police sources said. The cold will settle in for the week, and several inches of snow may add to the 'fun' for Tuesday.

Record-Low Temperatures or Not, New Yorkers Are Feeling the Chill

In Grand Forks, N.D., where the average low temperature for February hovers around 2 degrees, Mike Roufs, a streets department supervisor with 42 years of snow-fighting experience, could have been forgiven for raising an eyebrow at New Yorkers who complained of the cold.

To be fair to New Yorkers, it was about to get a great deal colder in the city — nearly as frigid as Grand Forks, where the overnight low on Sunday was forecast at an even 0. The temperature in Central Park for Monday, forecast at 2 degrees, may or may not beat the date’s record low of 1 degree, set on Feb. 16, 1888. Even if it does not, the city has a wind chill of minus-20 degrees to look forward to.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have not been able to find a single mention anywhere of what is happening to the homeless populations of these cities in this intense cold.

Sahara Desert Greening Due to Climate Change?

Desertification, drought, and despair—that's what global warming has in store for much of Africa. Or so we hear.

Emerging evidence is painting a very different scenario, one in which rising temperatures could benefit millions of Africans in the driest parts of the continent.

Scientists are now seeing signals that the Sahara desert and surrounding regions are greening due to increasing rainfall.

If sustained, these rains could revitalize drought-ravaged regions, reclaiming them for farming communities.

Yemen: The World's Newest Failed State

In Yemen there is no longer a government or a president. On January 22, after the Houthi, (Zaydi Shiites) militiamen in the north besieged the presidential palace in Sana’a, both interim President (since 2012) Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi and Prime Minister Khaled Bahah (of a caretaker government which secured parliamentary confidence in December 2014), resigned. Washington has closed its embassy and many other countries, Western and non, have done likewise. Four southern governors, including those from Aden and Abyan, which has been the epicenter of the US drone campaign against al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), have refused to resign, in solidarity with President Hadi. Houthi militias dispersed an impromptu pro-government demonstration days after the takeover; the occasion served as an opportunity for the Houthis to wield some power as they brandished weapons in the streets and made numerous arrests.

Boehner: 'I didn't tell Obama I was inviting Netanyahu because I knew he would interfere'

Fox News' Chris Wallace interviews Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-In) about a lot of topics. From 4:57-8:10, they talk about Boehner's invitation to Prime Minister Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congree next month.

Boehner bluntly says that he did not tell the White House he was inviting Netanyahu (contrary to earlier reports), because he did not want President Obama interfering with Prime Minister Netanyahu coming to Washington.

So butter is good for you. Just like global warming, then.

Not all experts in the field, however, were persuaded by the ‘evidence’ that animal fats were the problem. As early as 1977 Dr George Mann, in the New England Journal of Medicine, described the cholesterol myth as ‘the greatest scam in the history of medicine’. In 1997, a massive trial of 350,000 men at high risk of heart disease found that drastically cutting down their cholesterol and saturated fat consumption did not improve their survival prospects. Worse, according to an earlier study in Finland, men who continued to follow a low-saturated-fat diet were twice as likely to die of heart disease as those who didn’t. In fact no trial has ever demonstrated the benefits of reducing dietary fat.

Mann, of course, was ridiculed and marginalised for his outrageous rejection of the Consensus.

Does any of the scenario I’ve just outlined above sound at all familiar?

The Putin-Did-It Conspiracy Theory

he original falsehood behind the Iraq War was that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and intended to use them against America either directly or by giving them to al-Qaeda. The opening lie about the Ukraine crisis was that Russian President Vladimir Putin instigated the conflict as part of some Hitlerian plan to conquer much of Europe.

Yet, while the Hussein-WMD claim was hard for the common citizen to assess because it was supposedly supported by U.S. intelligence information that was kept secret, the Putin-Ukraine lie collapses under the most cursory examination based simply of what’s publicly known and what makes sense.

Nevertheless, the New York Times – much as it did when it was falsely reporting breathlessly about “aluminum tubes” for Iraq’s non-existent nuclear weapons program – continues to promote U.S. government propaganda about Ukraine as fact and dismisses any rational assessment of the situation as crazy.

Denmark terror attack: Islamist shooting suspect profiled by Danish intel agency

The suspected Islamist gunman, who was hunted down and killed by Danish police after committing lone-wolf terror attacks against a journalism event in Copenhagen and in front of Jewish temple, was a 22-year-old who had an Arab background and a history of "running" with street gangs, according to statements made during a press conference on Sunday. Members of the Copenhagen police and intelligence agencies confirmed that the homegrown jihadist suspect was born in Denmark and possessed a lengthy criminal record that includes weapons offenses and assaults but they have not yet released the suspect's name.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I decided to report this because as of today, YouTube has disabled comments on this video. I discovered that when I went to reply to a comment left by Brother JJ Hallen, which was, "Hey mike you have an informative show but you dont know the truth until you know the ultimate truth which is Jesus Christ is Lord and God is real brother, the KJV bible is the true word of God, for someone who knows how corrupt things are in this world and you also arent afraid to criticize israel i cant believe you havent even opened up a bible and read it to compare it to this world and your life, you cant save yourself and when you pass away its not like you probably think that you just rot in...",P.Had YouTube not disabled comments, this would have been my reply.

So, in your view, all of science is wrong, all of geology is wrong, all of paleontology is wrong, all of archaeology is wrong, all of physics is wrong, but a bunch of Bronze Age goat herders got it all right! That being said, I am convinced there was an historical person who is the foundation for the legend of Jesus, but the story has been "modified" and rather severely over the last 20 centuries to suit various political and economic agendas. Even his name got changed along the way, as the English version of "Yeshua" is "Joshua." The name "Jesus" is the result of a less-than-perfect translation from Aramaic into Greek, followed by a less-than-perfect translation from Greek into Latin. Much of the popular image of Jesus, including his divinity, was the creation of the Council of Nicea in 325 AD, more than two centuries after he died; two centuries without benefit of modern information preservation, when the story was passed by word of mouth with everyone embellishing the tale as they went along. The historical "Joshua" was not the son of a Carpenter, but heir to the House of David (the Bible even has his lineage) who married the princess of the House of Benjamin at Canaa to form a dynastic paring that gave Joshua a legitimate claim to the throne of Judea superceding the installed Roman puppet Herod. It was for that challenge to Rome's authority that Joshua was crucified.

US ‘eyeing new air base’ in Iraq amid talk of major offensive on ISIS

Washington is working to install a new air base in Iraq’s Kurdistan to be used in a campaign against Islamic State (ISIS), media report. This comes as the White House’s special envoy on ISIS speaks of a ground operation in Iraq against the militants.

This time an American stronghold in the region will be deployed in Erbil, the capital of semi-autonomous Kurdistan region in northern Iraq that is expected to be used as a logistics hub to supply primarily munitions for warplanes of the US-led coalition against ISIS militants.

“The base is close to Erbil, the capital of the regional government…The warplanes will do surveillance, but the warplanes which will bomb ISIL targets will not take off from here,” Helgurt Hikmet, spokesperson for the Ministry of Peshmerga (Kurdish self-defense forces) said, as cited by Anadolu Agency.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No matter what Obama has promised, we will see troops on the ground in Iraq, and most probably, Syria; the "good reason" will be to "conquer Isis" the real reasons will be to re-control Iraq, and create regime change in Syria.

We already have 4,000 additional ground troops about to begin staging in Kuwait.

As Congress mulls America's war with the Islamic State terror group, more than 4,000 Fort Carson soldiers prepared Thursday to leave for Kuwait, where they will take over as America's largest ground force in the troubled region. The 3rd Brigade Combat Team bid farewell to the post in a ceremony and soon will serve as U.S. Central Command's Reserve force in the Middle East - the first soldiers into battle if a major combat force is used to battle Islamic State fighters.

You cannot bring people 'in country' and expect them to "wait" before deployment. They must be utilized, and quickly.

And BTW, does anyone, except me, remember the cleric Muqtata Al Sadr, who demanded that the US honor their SOFA with the Iraqi government, or our troops would come under attack?!?

This guy is still alive and kicking.

I shudder to think about what he and the Mahdi Army will be willing to do, if he sees that US troops are back, on the ground, in Iraq.

Japan orders Fukushima waste to be released into ocean after worker falls into tank of radioactive water and dies

With nowhere else to put it and workers constantly being exposed to it, radiation from the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power facility in Japan has been ordered to be dumped into the ocean by Japanese regulators, according to new reports. This was just two days after a plant employee accidentally fell into one of the onsite storage tanks filled with radioactive water, resulting in his death.

According to the Star Tribune, the 55-year-old man died of multiple injuries after falling through an opening at the top of the 10-meter (33-foot) high tank. He was one of three men who was inspecting the tank at the time of the fall.
