FBI: Child porn on accused museum shooter computer

Child pornography was found on a computer belonging to the white supremacist charged with shooting and killing a security guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, the FBI said in court documents.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The bovine excrement meter exploded on this one.

As witnesses came forward to report that the security guard at the museum may have been shot by the other guards, Vin Brunn became less and less the villain the propagandists needed to link to Ron Paul, the 911 truth movement, anti-semites, and klog dancers, and a PR device was needed to re-demonize him.

Looks like they figured one out.

Frankly, my first assumption is that the FBI planted the child porn on the computer (they have the very next that taxpayer money can buy) both because it gets them out of a public relations jam and because at 88, I doubt Von Brunn was interested in any kind of sex at all! I am only in my 50s, and long ago swapped Playboy and Penthouse for National Geographic and Popular Mechanics!

It's just too convenient, know what I mean?

Militarized police SWATs, but not at Columbine, VTech

Our Militarized Police Departments
Testimony before the House Subcommittee on Crime
Radley Balko | July 2, 2007
I’m here to talk about police militarization, a troubling trend that’s been on the rise in America’s police departments over the last 25 years. Militarization is a broad term that refers to using military-style weapons, tactics, training, uniforms, and even heavy equipment by civilian police departments.
SWAT teams were originally designed to be used in violent, emergency situations like hostage takings, acts of terrorism, or bank robberies.

Flashback: Skolnick's "Why So Many 'Lone Gunmen'?"

FBI/CIA Warehouse -
Why So Many 'Lone Gunmen'?
By Sherman H. Skolnick
Then there was a fellow named Benjamin Nathaniel Smith....He supposedly used a .22 caliber weapon to shoot, from a distance, six Orthodox Jews on the way to and from a Synagogue in a mostly Jewish neighborhood in Chicago. Smith supposedly did the shooting from a distance. One problem: the .22 caliber is the favorite political assassination weapon of the FBI/CIA, and others in the secret political police, to shoot someone in the head close-up, not from a distance.

U.S., European Union Try Good-Cop, Bad-Cop Approach

European states are taking a considerably more aggressive line toward Tehran's clerical leaders than the Obama administration as Iran's postelection crisis deepens, fueling the ire of U.S. Republicans and some democracy activists.

The approach suggests an unusual reversal among the Americans and Europeans from recent history, with Washington emerging as a relatively passive voice and the European Union assuming the role of Tehran's chief scold. But the dynamic also is being welcomed by many European officials involved in Iran diplomacy as an effective approach against Tehran.

Beating And Torturing Palestinian Children

The rights of Palestinian children are routinely violated by Israel’s security forces, according to a new report that says beatings and torture are common. In addition, hundreds of Palestinian minors are prosecuted by Israel each year without a proper trial and are denied family visits.

The findings by Defence for Children International (DCI) come in the wake of revelations from Israeli soldiers and senior commanders that it is “normal procedure” in the West Bank to terrorise Palestinian civilians, including children.

1968 Chicago riot cops set to ‘celebrate’ mass beatings

As the official Chicago Riot Cops website explains, “The time has come that the Chicago Police be honored and recognized for their contributions to maintaining law and order - and for taking a stand against Anarchy. The time was the hot summer month of August ‘68. The Democratic National Convention was about to start and the only thing that stood between Marxist street thugs and public order was a thin blue line of dedicated, tough Chicago police officers.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

They really showed American citizens what they thought "to protect and serve meant" during that time!

And in most big cities, things have gotten worse in terms of police brutality against its citizens ever since.

You find home invasions in the wrong house, the regular beating and tasering of individuals by the police (many times leading to death, massive corruption, and now, several police departments actually own grenade launchers, as in West Springfield, Massachusetts.

How and why have state and federal governments become so terrified of We the People that a grenade launcher is now a completely normal piece of equipment to have on hand?!?

US military debates release of Afghan air strike probe

The release of a Pentagon investigation into deadly US air strikes in Afghanistan has been delayed amid an internal debate about what details of the report should be revealed, US officials said on Thursday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: we are unlikely to ever see any details of these airstrikes revealed.

Were I a betting person, I would bet that we will see an increase in these kinds of strikes, with ever more collateral damage (i.e., the destruction of the lives of innocent civilians), because the Pentagon doesn't know what else to do.

The US is essentially trying to win what is a ground war from the air. We tried that tactic in Viet Nam; it didn't work then either.

One would think that the US civilian and military leadership would have learned that lesson, but apparently not.

Unfortunately, that doesn't augur well for the US military campaign in Afghanistan.

Japan warns that North Korea may fire missile at U.S. on Independence Day
By Mail Foreign Service
Last updated at 4:55 PM on 18th June 2009
North Korea may launch a long-range ballistic missile towards Hawaii on American Independence Day, according to Japanese intelligence officials.
Intelligence analysts do not believe the device would be capable of hitting Hawaii's main islands, which are 4,500 miles from North Korea.
Details of the launch came from the Japan's best-selling newspaper, Yomiuri Shimbun.
Both Japanese intelligence and U.S. reconnaissance satellites have collated information pointing to the launch, according to the report.

Lawmakers Call For An End To Federal Marijuana Prosecutions

Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank, along with co-sponsors Ron Paul (R-TX); Maurice Hinchey (D-NY); Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA); and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), will reintroduce legislation today to limit the federal government’s authority to arrest and prosecute minor marijuana offenders.

The measure, entitled an “Act to Remove Federal Penalties for Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults,” would eliminate federal penalties for the personal possession of up to 100 grams (over three and one-half ounces) of cannabis and for the not-for-profit transfer of up to one ounce of pot – making the prosecutions of these offenses strictly a state matter.

Sharks, Drugs, Lies, and Corruption in Costa Rica

For years, the tiny nation of Costa Rica has enjoyed the fruits of the myth that it is some sort of ecological paradise. The truth is that Costa Rica is one of the most corrupt and ecologically destructive nations in Latin America.

Ecuador, Panama, and Columbia are far more concerned about ecological issues and controlling environmental crime than Costa Rica. But Costa Rica has a good public relations agency and a steady stream of green washing keeps Costa Rica dazzling green like an emerald on the outside as a steady rot permeates the nation inside.

Aside from the chemical pollution of the banana industry and the destruction of the rainforests by overzealous logging, Costa Rica is one of the most shark-destructive nations on Earth. In the port of Puntarenas, the “shark-fin mafia” controls the police and the courts, has bought the local politicians, and has tentacles that slither their corruption in the government bureaucracies in San Jose.

Kissinger threatens regime change in Iran if coup fails

" I am sure that Americans would favour the emergence from the present situation of a truly popularly based government and it is very appropriate for the president to make clear that that is what he favours. Now if it turns out that it is not possible for a government to emerge in Iran that can deal with itself as a nation rather than as a cause then we have a different situation, then we may conclude that we must work for regime change in Iran from the outside but if I understand the president correctly he does not want to do this as a visible intervention in the current crisis."

U.S. Military Tracking North Korean Ship Suspected of Proliferating Missiles, Nukes

The U.S. military is tracking a flagged North Korean ship suspected of proliferating weapons material in violation of a U.N. Security Council resolution passed last Friday, FOX News has learned.

The ship, Kang Nam, left a port in North Korea Wednesday and could be carrying weaponry, missile parts or nuclear materials.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That ship could be carrying kimchee, too!

But it doesn't matter what it is carrying; the moment the US interdicts that ship (fancy USA-speak for piracy), that will be the very provocation North Korea warned they would respond to.

In other word, the US Government, unable to get a war in Iran going, is going to start a war with North Korea.

The DC boys know they have screwed the economy. They know it. They know you know it. They hope, they PRAY, that if they can start a war the resulting surge of patriotism and war fever will addle your puny (in their estimations) little brains and make you forget that it is not North Korea but Washington DC which is the gravest threat to your way of life.

These Are Obama’s Wars Now

No longer can the blame for the turmoil in Iraq and Afghanistan rest at the feet of George W. Bush alone. This is now Obama’s War on Terror, fully funded and operated by the Democratic Party.

Despite Obama’s historic (albeit rhetoric filled) speech in Cairo, the new Commander in Chief is still not about to radically change, let alone reform, the US’s long-standing role in the Middle East. A master of his craft, Obama is simply candy coating the delivery of US imperialism in the region. Given the lack of opposition to Obama’s policies back home, it is becoming clear that he may well be more dangerous than his predecessor when it comes to the US’s motivations internationally.

US Drone Attack Kills 13 in South Waziristan

US drones launched an apparent attack on a compound near South Waziristan’s capital of Wana today, killing at least 13 people and wounding an unknown number of others. Four missiles were said to be fired at a compound belonging to a suspected commander in the Tehreek-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Webmaster's Commentary:

The use of aerial bombardment in Pakistan which insures the killing and maiming of innocent civilians, is a coarse and indiscriminate tactic.

This will only further enrage the Pakistani people against both American interests and their own government, guaranteeing more destabilization.

One has to wonder if this is precisely the outcome the US wants as the excuse, ultimately, to create a "regime change" here in order to "save nuclear-armed Pakistan from itself."

Qurea' says no peace talks until Netanyahu halts settlement activities, accepts two-state solution, and Palestinian right of return

Senior Fat'h leader, Ahmad Qorea', Abu Ala', stated Monday that the Palestinian leadership rejects the speech of Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and added that the Palestinians are determined to establish their state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He added that a transitional solution would not be accepted, and that Israel must recognize the Right of Return of the Palestinian refugees as stated in Security Council Resolution number 194.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In his speech, Netanyahu crafted precisely what he hoped to achieve; a proposal which would be an absolute non-starter as a basis for a comprehensive peace agreement, and the establishment of a Palestinian state.

And the question is, what will Obama and the US do now, stop signing the checks to Israel for financial and military aid?

Never. This country will continue to reward Israel's bad behavior, and probably get suckered into another war to neutralize yet another of Israel's existential threats (probably Iran), and it will be our money and our kid's blood which will pay for it.

Health insurers refuse to limit rescission of coverage

An investigation by the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations showed that health insurers WellPoint Inc., UnitedHealth Group and Assurant Inc. canceled the coverage of more than 20,000 people, allowing the companies to avoid paying more than $300 million in medical claims over a five-year period.

t also found that policyholders with breast cancer, lymphoma and more than 1,000 other conditions were targeted for rescission and that employees were praised in performance reviews for terminating the policies of customers with expensive illnesses.

Webmaster's Commentary:

While these policies are shameful, if not completely immoral, do not expect things to change any time soon.

As reported in:

"The Post reports: "The health-care sector has long ranked with financial services and energy interests as one of the most powerful political forces in Washington, and it spent nearly $1 billion on lobbying in the past two years alone."

That's only the billion we know about. Companies and industries acquire congressional representatives as though they were commodities, which can be tremendously useful under some circumstances;like allowing insurers to drop coverage of critically ill people.

NASA is about to launch a twin spacecraft to the Moon. The orbiter will create the most detailed map of the Moon ever, down to 12 inches resolution, and yes it will see the artifacts from the Apollo Moon missions sitting on the surface.

The second part of the mission involves a large impactor that will be driven into the Moon at high speed to blast a 6 mile-high cloud of debris back into space where scientists will analyze it for traces of water ice from deep inside the Moon. If water ice is indeed present it will make the establishment of a permanent Moon base far easier.

The plume from the impact is expected to be visible from Earth with moderate power telescopes.

Civilian Casualties Could End Airstrike Support

Rising anger over Afghan civilians accidentally killed in U.S. military bombing campaigns has prompted some U.S. officers to issue a stark warning to troops involved in airstrikes: If grave mistakes persist, they could lose armed air support—considered by most soldiers and marines to be an invaluable tool during battle. "Maybe they're just saying that to us as a scare tactic," says one U.S. military officer in Afghanistan. "But they are really serious about cutting these deaths."

Webmaster's Commentary:

If this statement was made for Afghan civilian consumption, it won't work... because Afghans have the horse-sense to know it can't work.

Air strikes are the blunt instrument in this war, and there is no way to separate civilian from insurgent when the bombs are targeted and launched.

There was a war a while back in American history, the Viet Nam war. It was there that civilian and military strategists should have learned that you cannot win what is absolutely a ground war from the air.

Apparently, that lesson has been stricken from all military and historical textbooks that are required reading for military leadership these days.

So, the bombing will continue; the civilian deaths will continue; the documentation of the carnage will continue; and we will continue to lose this war, because you cannot win a ground war from the air.

EFF and Public Knowledge Reluctantly Drop Lawsuit for Information About ACTA

The Obama Administration's decision to support Bush-era concealment policies has forced the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and Public Knowledge (PK) to drop their lawsuit about the proposed Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA). EFF and PK had been seeking important documents about the secret intellectual property enforcement treaty that has broad implications for global privacy and innovation.

Federal judges have very little discretion to overrule Executive Branch decisions to classify information on "national security" grounds, and the Obama Administration has recently informed the court that it intends to defend the classification claims originally made by the Bush Administration.

The Revolution Will Not Be Twitterized

Overnight we're being sold on the critical global relevance of these repositories of heretofore useless information about what the Average Joe is doing, thinking, saying, listening to, watching, reading and eating every 5 minutes. Now they'd like us to believe that Twitter and Facebook are fueling a revolution and serving as the vessel for democracy in Iran. Power to the @People.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Twitter has provably been hijacked as a new tool for propaganda, so of course you have to be told this is the place to go to get the "facts" about what is going on in Iran.

Proposed New Law Would Let Police Snoop On What You Do Online

It's not exactly Big Brother and the overall intentions seem to have the public's best interest at heart. But many are very uncomfortable about a proposed new law being introduced in the House of Commons on Thursday that could affect anyone using the Internet in Canada.

The bill, with the unwieldy name of "An Act Regulating Telecommunications Facilities to Support Investigations," would allow police to force your ISP to hand over any records of your emails, chat room conversations, website history or surfing habits to authorities without a warrant.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Of course, real terrorists and criminals will be using less obvious means of communication, like steganography, so this snooping is really about keeping the uppity serfs in line!

Head of CA GOP Voter Registration Firm Pleads Guilty to Voter Registration Fraud

The owner of a voter-registration company pleaded guilty Tuesday to voter-registration fraud, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

And what they didn't bother to mention in that story?...Amongst other things, the fact that Jacoby and Young Political Majors were hired by the California Republican Party to head up their voter registration efforts in the state.

North Korea may fire a missile toward Hawaii

While the newspaper speculated the Taepodong-2 could fly over Japan and toward Hawaii, it said the missile would not be able to hit Hawaii's main islands, which are about 4,500 miles (7,200 kilometers) from the Korean peninsula.

The Retreat of the Shadow Lenders, Why Deflation and not Inflation is the Order of the Day

The retreat of the shadow lenders has created a credit freeze globally; and when credit shrinks, the money supply shrinks with it. That means there is insufficient money to buy goods, so workers get laid off and factories get shut down, perpetuating a vicious spiral of economic collapse and depression. To reverse that cycle, credit needs to be restored; and when the banks can’t do it, the Fed needs to step in and start “monetizing” debt.

Dress the Set With Tears: It’s a Wrap

Mr. Schwartz, the owner of 20th Century Props, plans to go out of business next month and auction the inventory. Battered by the surge in out-of-state movie production and the demise of scripted programming on network television, the once-thriving business — one of a handful of its type remaining — is failing.

Officer indicted in "Ace Capone" drug case

Authorities allege that Durham, assigned to an FBI task force, made the phone call about 3 a.m. Aug. 10, 2005, as he and more than 200 other law enforcement agents were preparing to launch a series of predawn raids aimed at cocaine kingpin Alton "Ace Capone" Coles and several of his top associates.

What if Ahmadinejad Really Won?

Mr. Ahmadinejad spent the last four years traveling across the country courting the rural and small town votes. There is even evidence that his programs to distribute income and wealth more evenly have begun to bear fruit. The so-called “justice shares” that entitle each individual to receive about $1,000 worth of equity in public companies pay out about $70 a year have been distributed to many in rural areas, and many more are waiting for their turn. Others are waiting to receive funds for housing and marriage from various funds that his administration has established.

Thousands of Unlisted Pathogens Discovered at Fort Detrick

An inventory of potentially deadly pathogens at Fort Detrick's infectious disease laboratory found more than 9,000 vials that had not been accounted for, Army officials said yesterday, raising concerns that officials wouldn't know whether dangerous toxins were missing.

After four months of searching about 335 freezers and refrigerators at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases in Frederick, investigators found 9,220 samples that hadn't been included in a database of about 66,000 items listed as of February, said Col. Mark Kortepeter, the institute's deputy commander.

Preparing the Battlefield
The Bush Administration steps up its secret moves against Iran.
by Seymour M. Hersh July 7, 2008
Under federal law, a Presidential Finding, which is highly classified, must be issued when a covert intelligence operation gets under way and, at a minimum, must be made known to Democratic and Republican leaders in the House and the Senate and to the ranking members of their respective intelligence committees—the so-called Gang of Eight. Money for the operation can then be reprogrammed from previous appropriations, as needed, by the relevant congressional committees, which also can be briefed.

Strange Inconsistencies in the $134.5 Billion Bearer Bond Mystery

Thus, all of the above irreconcilable and illogical points, other than the coincidence of the amount of the bearer bonds exactly matching the remaining TARP fund amount declared on March 30th, seem to indicate that not only were the seized bearer bonds counterfeit, but also that the smugglers were intent on being caught.
