THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"True there were no flashing guns, no bombs, no killings. Revolution . . . doesn't need violence. The general strike, as practiced in Seattle, is of itself the weapon of revolution, all the more dangerous because quiet. To succeed, it must suspend everything, stop the entire life stream of a community...That is to say, it puts the government out of operation. And that is all there is to revolt-no matter how achieved." -- Mayor of Seattle, Washington, during the city's general strike in 1919 (from an article by Howard Zinn in The Progressive magazine, January 2000, p20)

Shotgun pulled on census worker

Another census visit turned ugly Thursday when a woman allegedly pointed a shotgun at a census worker.

The woman called the sheriff around 8:30 p.m. to complain the census worker would not leave her property on the 14000 block of Wayland Road, between Grass Valley and Colfax.

But she denied pointing the gun at him, Nevada County Undersheriff Richard Kimball said.

“It was a case of ‘he said, she said,'” Kimball said, so deputies took a report on the incident but are not moving forward with charges.

FREEGAZA - WE'RE ON OUR WAY!

After tremendous pressure from the Greek Cypriots, reneging on their agreement with us http://www.cyprus-mail.com/cyprus/cyprus-stops-mps-joining-gaza-flotil..., we were forced to take our MPs and activists to Famagusta yesterday, on the Turkish/Cypriot side of Cyprus. We spent all day going from one port to the next, surrounded by helicopters and police. Clearly our deal with Cyprus officials had fallen through, and we ended up being pawns in a political soap opera. The Cypriot members of Parliament, the ones who had worked so hard to get us permission to leave, were outraged. The Greek Parliament members finally told us to go to the North. If they could, they would.

Are US TV Crews Killing Haitians?

"It's been frustrating then, to watch foreign, especially U.S., news crews pull up to Cite Soleil and start walking down the street with cameras and lights and audio booms. Of course, they would cause a stir. And then all it takes is one card handed out, one bottle of water given to a child in sympathy and it provokes a stampede of folks all under the misapprehension that there's some form of aid to be had. Jostling begins and suddenly, BREAKING NEWS THERE'S RIOTING IN HAITI!!! Personally, I have seen no real riots: after the tv crews sprint back to the vehicles the crowd disbands and everyone goes home"

A blockade on Israel

Israel is finding it increasingly difficult to explain the rationale behind the blockade to the rest of the world. If it is intended to prevent Qassam rocket fire on Israel, then what was the reason for Operation Cast Lead? If Israel wants to use the blockade to put more pressure on the people of Gaza until they rise up against Hamas and topple it, or to spur Hamas to respond to the Israeli pressure, then the past four years have shown that this policy has failed.

Moreover, the suffering that Israel is causing 1.5 million people for this purpose is not only inhuman, but extremely detrimental to Israel's status around the world.

East Jerusalem eviction orders threaten new embarrassment for Netanyahu

As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu heads to Washington in a much-feted effort to restore damaged ties with the United States, new tensions in East Jerusalem threaten to rekindle a diplomatic row over Jewish building beyond the Green Line in the city.

On Saturday lawyers served eviction notices to two Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, a focus of clashes between Arab residents and settlers.

The families were ordered to vacate their properties within 45 days.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This order of eviction of Palestinian families, coming at a time when Netanyahu is again coming to Washington, is not a coincidence, just as the jubilant announcement about the expansion of Israeli building in East Jerusalem before his previous visit to Washington, was no coincidence.

The timing of this statement, coupled with Netanyahu's visit to Washington next Tuesday, can be most likely be interpreted as Netanyahu and his government telling the US and Congress that they are completely impotent to stop the coming rapid Israeli annexation of East Jerusalem and the West Bank, with forced expulsions of Palestinians first into Gaza, and then, just outside the borders of Gaza where no other country can or will accept them as refugees.

Israel does not want peace with the Palestinians; they want territory by any means necessary, and forced expulsions of Palestinians from East Jerusalem and the West bank, are the beginnings of that expansion of territory for this government.

Afghanistan: Drone crew rebuked for civilian deaths

The US military has reprimanded the six operators of an unmanned drone aircraft which mistakenly targeted a civilian convoy in Afghanistan. At least 23 people were killed in the attack in Uruzgan province on 21 February.

Commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, who is struggling to win broad support among Afghans to defeat the Taliban, apologised for the drone attack.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to General McChrystal; instead of "apologizing" to the Afghan people, just tell them - and the world (particularly those whose loved ones have been killed or maimed for life in this immoral, illegal war) the plain, brutal truth as follows:

"We of the American and NATO military have no real apologies for the deaths and maimings of your loved ones; these statements are purely propaganda, created for public consumption back home.

"The Afghan people are of no consequence whatsoever to us, except as impediments against the installation of oil pipelines with which to control Eurasian oil.

"So, you can reasonably expect one hell of a lot more death and destruction until this outcome is accomplished."

The Afghan people already understand this; it is the people in the US who need to wake up and truly recognize what its government is doing in its name.

Ten Things You Need (But Don't Want) To Know About the BP Oil Spill

The Deepwater Horizon disaster reminds us what can happen -- and will continue to happen -- when corporate malfeasance and neglect meet governmental regulatory failure.

The corporate media is tracking the disaster with front-page articles and nightly news headlines every day (if it bleeds, or spills, it leads!), but the under-reported aspects to this nightmarish tale paint the most chilling picture of the actors and actions behind the catastrophe. In no particular order, here are 10 things about the BP spill you may not know and may not want to know -- but you should.

US House approves Iran sanction

The US House of Representatives on Friday voted to bar companies that do business with Iran's energy sector or provide Tehran with sensitive weapons technology from getting US military contracts.

"It's time to present a simple choice: Companies can prop up the dangerous rouge regime in Iran, or they can do business with the US government and Department of Defense -- not both," said Democratic Representative Ron Klein, the author of the measure.

Lawmakers voted 416-1 to attach the measure to an annual military spending bill, which passed later by a 229-186 margin.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These sanctions are yet one more step on the road to a military confrontation with Iran.

BP didn't test mud prior to critical pipeline procedure, driller testifies

BP decided not to perform a test on the mud at the bottom of the well before starting to place the final cement lining that may have been the source of gas that eventually blew out the well, according to testimony at investigative hearings in Kenner.

The top drilling supervisor on the Deepwater Horizon rig on April 20, Offshore Installation Manager Jimmy Harrell, testified Thursday that BP decided to forego a "bottoms-up" test that would have examined the condition of drilling mud sitting in the zone where a casing shoe was about to be placed to protect the well from natural gas or oil pressing in against the hole.

Pakistan, Iran sign major gas pipeline pact

The Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline sovereign guarantee agreement was signed on Friday.

The agreement was signed by National Iranian Oil Company Managing Director SR Kasaezadeh and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Joint Secretary Irshad Kaleemi.

Talking to the media after the signing ceremony, Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Naveed Qamar said that the groundwork of the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline Project would start soon, as the paper work had been completed today (Friday).

He said that the Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) between Pakistan and Iran was for the import of 750 million cubic feet daily (mmcfd) of natural gas with a provision to increase it to 1 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd).

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder if this is the true reason for the following headline, reported today at:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/05/28/AR2010052804854_pf.html

"Options studied for a possible Pakistan strike"

"The U.S. military is reviewing options for a unilateral strike in Pakistan in the event that a successful attack on American soil is traced to the country's tribal areas, according to senior military officials. "

This would be a wonderful excuse, for some in the US government and military, for the staging of a "false flag" event here in the US as the justification for a major attack against Pakistan, which would then escalate into a military attack against Iran.

And to those Pakistani officials and military personnel who have been well compensated by the US to "look the other way" while waging a war against your own people (with US drone attack "assistance"), you'd better get the memo, and darned soon, that Pakistan is most probably next on the "to-do list" of this government for US invasion and occupation.

Just Like 9/11? Oil Spill Responders Are Getting Sick ... But Are Being Told They Don't Need Any Safety Gear

The U.S. government suppressed health information after 9/11. For example, as Newsday noted in 2003:

In the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center, the White House instructed the Environmental Protection Agency to give the public misleading information, telling New Yorkers it was safe to breathe when reliable information on air quality was not available.
That finding is included in a report released Friday by the Office of the Inspector General of the EPA.

Because the government lied about the health risks involved, many heroic first responders didn't use any real precautions, and so have gotten sick and died. And see this.

The same thing appears to be happening in connection with the Gulf oil spill.

North Korea: We're Heading To 'The Brink Of War'

North Korea's most powerful state organ said Friday that South Korea faked the sinking of one of its own warships and warned that the Korean peninsula was edging ever closer to war.

Pyongyang has made similar statements through state media since a multinational probe said last week that a torpedo fired by a North Korean submarine downed the vessel, killing 46 sailors in the worst attack on the South Korean military since the Korean War.

This time, though, the comments were delivered at an extremely rare press conference in the North Korean capital presided over by a uniformed official with the secretive country's National Defense Commission, which is headed by leader Kim Jong Il.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to hope that some adults in the room of international diplomacy (read: Russia and China) will exert all possible efforts to ratchet down the tension here.

This is a tinderbox situation, which could be ignited by any spark right now, and neither the citizens of North or South Korea need, or want, a war.

Unfortunately, however, there are certain people in the leadership of the US who could certainly use one heck of a distraction right now, looking at the miserable state of the US economy, several wars around the globe going colossally badly, and the horrendous mismanagement of the worst oil spill disaster in US history.

Deficit Eclipses Jobs In Congress: 'Nickel-And-Diming The Most Fragile People'

On June 1, several programs, including extended unemployment benefits, will expire. By the end of the week, 19,400 people will prematurely stop receiving checks, according to data from the Department of Labor. By the end of the following week, the number of premature unemployment exhaustions will climb to 323,400. The week after that, 903,000. By the end of the month, 1.2 million.

"But the numbers really don't tell the story," said Marc Katz of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies. "The states are going to get calls from very concerned claimants about what's going on, what's the outlook. That's the real story. And it puts claimants through real anguish. It's just terribly unfair to them."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to the American people, particularly those who have lost their jobs, homes, and lives, courtesy of massive outsourcing; according to this Congress, you are completely expendable, and there is no specific value in even keeping you alive

All you are, if you have been reduced to working 3 minimum wage jobs 18 hours a day, is an allegedly endless source of tax revenue, to be drained to feed the endless, non-citizen supported immoral and illegal wars without end in which this government has gotten itself enmeshed.

It is as if he intended to include the one option that makes sense, diplomacy, and changed his mind at the last minute. US Fed schedules tests on deposit facility

The US Federal Reserve said Friday it has scheduled tests of one of its tools likely to be used to drain massive amounts of money injected into the system during the financial crisis.

The central bank said in a statement that three small-value auctions of term deposits would be made over the next two months through its Term Deposit Facility (TDF).

The facility could give banks an extra incentive to keep their money at the Fed through interest-bearing deposits instead of lending it out to companies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a very interesting move, considering, as reported on 26 May 2010 at:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/7769126/US-money-supply-plunges-at-1930s-pace-as-Obama-eyes-fresh-stimulus.html

"The M3 money supply in the United States is contracting at an accelerating rate that now matches the average decline seen from 1929 to 1933, despite near zero interest rates and the biggest fiscal blitz in history."

"The M3 figures - which include broad range of bank accounts and are tracked by British and European monetarists for warning signals about the direction of the US economy a year or so in advance - began shrinking last summer. The pace has since quickened.

The stock of money fell from $14.2 trillion to $13.9 trillion in the three months to April, amounting to an annual rate of contraction of 9.6pc. The assets of institutional money market funds fell at a 37pc rate, the sharpest drop ever."

One has to wonder just what the management of the Fed is thinking, other than lining its own coffers, with this little maneuver.

The absence of credit lines to legitimate companies which need them to survive will mean that more and more US businesses may shut their doors permanently.

Is It Raining Oil In Florida? This Is Just The Beginning

Oil is semi-volatile, which means that it can evaporate into the air and create a heavy vapor that stays near the ground -- in the human breathing zone. When winds whip up oily sea water, the spray contains tiny droplets -- basically a fume -- of oil, which are small enough to be inhaled deep into the lungs. We know that's happening in the Gulf Coast, because people are reporting a heavy oily smell in the air. Already my colleagues in Louisiana are reporting that people in the coastal community of Venice, Louisiana are suffering from nausea, vomiting, headaches, and difficulty breathing.

The following eyewitness account came to our attention yesterday:

Who is staging a War between North and South Korea?

Tensions between North and South Korea continue to escalate: On Friday, North Korea blamed its southern neighbor of staging the sinking of its own warship, which killed 46 soldiers, denying any responsibility for the tragedy.

North Korea has also warned that any retaliation for the incident would lead to armed conflict, and potentially “all-out war.” North Korea’s denial runs at odds with a recent multinational probe that determined that a North Korea torpedo downed the ship.

Russian experts disagree and claim it would be incredibly simple for dozens of countries to obtain a Soviet Made torpedo, use it against a ship and claim afterwards it was fired from North Korea.

The international community should let Teheran go ahead with its nuclear program for civilian use

The recent tripartite agreement on nuclear-material swapping among Iran, Turkey and Brazil shows that influential countries other than major Western powers have started helping resolve sensitive global issues.

Berkshire confirms Buffett subpoenaed to testify

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. confirmed on Friday that Warren Buffett will testify under subpoena before a U.S. panel examining the causes of the 2008 financial crisis.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I wish they would summon me to testify because I can tell them exactly why we had a crash in 2008.

When you have a private central bank issuing the public currency at interest, then the moment that first printed piece of paper goes into circulation, more money is owed than actually exists. As new borrowers are found o allow creation of more currency, the interest on the old money gets paid in what amounts to a giant pyramid scheme, but in the end, the cumulative debt always outstrips the available currency.

That is the trap.

The system works as long as ever larger pools of new borrowers can be found to create new money to pay the interest on the old money. But when everyone in the country (or planet) is already a borrower and nobody will borrow any more, then the pyramid collapses which is what is happening right now.

The scale of the swindle by the Federal Reserve makes Bernie Madoff-with-the-loot look like a kid who wraps scotch tape around their fingers backwards to grab a coin from the church collection plate as it passes by.

But despite its size, the central bank system is a pyramid and doomed to collapse like one.

Nuclear Redaction

Why won't Israel admit it has nukes?

Webmaster's Commentary:

Greed!

The moment Israel officially admits they have nuclear weapons, the American people will demand that the US Government stop sending military aid to a nation that as a nuclear power clearly does not need it, and as a belligerent constantly invading its neighbors does not deserve it.

The American people will rightly point out that aid from the US to Israel is illegal under the 1976 Symington Amendment to the 1961 Foreign Appropriations Act and the Glenn Act.

Israel wants their nukes and their billions from the US taxpayer too, and in their world view see no reason they should not continue to have both!

Did an American Mine Sink South Korean Ship?

Hardly any of the relevant facts that counter the official verdict have made headline news in either South Korea or its senior ally, the United States.

The first telltale sign of an official smokescreen involves the location of the Choenan sinking - Byeongnyeong Island (pronounced Pyongnang) in the Yellow Sea. On the westernmost fringe of South Korean territory, the island is dominated by a joint U.S.-Korean base for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) operations. The sea channel between Byeongnyeong and the North Korean coast is narrow enough for both sides to be in artillery range of each other.

Monsanto's seeds will be distributed by the United States Agency for International Development's (USAID) WINNER program. The Gates Foundation works closely with Monsanto.

Freedom Flotilla: “Israel is Threatening to Attack Us”

Ms. Arraf is talking about the Freedom Flotilla, a group of ships heading to Gaza to break the illegal Israeli blockade of Gaza’s shore. In addition, the Flotilla is not just carrying “humanitarian aid” – you know, shitty food that Jews occupying Palestine wouldn’t eat themselves, they are carrying construction materials so that Gaza can rebuild itself after the terrorist murderous Israeli invasion of Gaza about a year and a half ago. Said invasion being a series of war crimes against the Palestinian people that was bravely supported by both houses of the Congress of the United States of America, a fact which all decent Americans are utterly ashamed of.

BP Persists on ‘Top Kill,’ Prepares Backup Plan to Stop Spill

BP Plc planned to continue working through the weekend to plug a leaking oil well in the Gulf of Mexico that has produced the largest spill in U.S. history.

Since Wednesday, BP has been starting and stopping high- horsepower pumps that ram mixtures of mud-like drilling fluid and rubber scrap into the oil and gas that’s been gushing from the well for more than five weeks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think BP is lying to us about the "progress" of TOP KILL, and the reason is simple.

The drilling mud is supposed to be far heavier than either water or oil in order to be able to hold down the oil and gas coming up the drill pipe, and yet the plumes being seen coming out of the riser float upward!

Clearly, those plumes are still composed primarily of oil.

Who Runs the Obama White House?

Who Runs the Obama White House?

The day after Barack Obama was elected president, the Israeli press proudly proclaimed that the new president had chosen an Israeli, Rahm Emanuel, to manage the new administration. "Obama's first pick: Israeli Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff" was the Ha'aretz headline of November 6, 2008. The controlled press in the United States, however, keeps the American public unaware that Obama's new chief of staff is an Israeli, with terrorist roots and a sworn loyalty to the state of Israel.

Hamas: Flotilla Shows Whole World Opposes Gaza Siege

Hamas Prime Minister in Gaza Ismail Haniyyeh said Saturday that if Israel behaved like pirates and attacked the Freedom Flotilla expected to make its way to Gaza later in the day, then the Palestinians would have won. "The flotilla's message is clear and it will reach the entire world," Haniyyeh said Saturday morning during a press conference held at the Gaza port where the ships were expected to dock.

"The meaning of the flotilla is that the entire world opposes the siege on the Gaza Strip, and if Israel behaves like pirates and sea-terrorists – we will win," he added.

BP capping info flow on leak damage

BP rejected claims that the move sought to hide the extent of damage. The company argues that the censorship was only established to provide one reliable source for the public.

Meanwhile, Senior Regional Representative for Sierra Club in New Orleans Jill Mastrototaro said, "It sounds like there's a cone of silence that's been issued on the situation."

"We're very concerned as an environmental organization trying to get the public's voice out there and trying to get access to this critical information," she added.

Meanwhile, journalists and photographers said they had to rely only on information provided by BP, adding that they were not allowed to visit affected areas.

Petraeus Memo Widens scope of US Military Covert Operations in ME

By Juan Cole

The 7-page memo seen by the NYT and signed by CENTCOM commander Gen. David Petraeus authorizes US troops to engage in clandestine intelligence-gathering in the greater Middle East. The article implies that the memo also authorizes more military teams to go into unconventional conflict situations in both unfriendly and friendly countries.

Critics worry that the order blurs the line between combat soldiers and spies and weakens the claim of all soldiers to humane treatment under the Geneva Conventions.

Ahmedinejad Blasts Medvedev over UNSC Sanctions; Brazil still Reaching out to Obama on Nuclear Deal

By Juan Cole

Ahmadinejad went on to warn President Barack Obama of the US that the Tehran Declaration represents a “historic opportunity for him” should he genuinely want “change,” — an opportunity to begin respecting the rights of other nations and to abandon wrong and inhumane policies, treating other countries instead with justice and fairness.

The Iranian newspaper Tabnak reports that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in a speech on Wednesday, took a hard line with Russia and also pressured the US to accept the deal brokered by Turkey and Brazil on Iranian low enriched uranium (the “Tehran Declaration.”)

Building What? How SCADs Can Be Hidden in Plain Sight

At 5:21 PM on 9/11, Building 7 of the World Trade Center collapsed, even though it had not been hit by a plane – a fact that is important because of the widespread acceptance of the idea, in spite of its scientific absurdity, that the Twin Towers collapsed because of the combined effect of the impact of the airliners plus the ensuing jet-fuel-fed fires. The collapse of World Trade Center 7 (WTC 7) thereby challenges the official account of the destruction of the World Trade Center, according to which it was accomplished by al-Qaeda hijackers, even if one accepts the government’s scientifically impossible account of the Twin Towers.

Ellen Brown: US economic reform creates full-employment, renewed infrastructure, zero national debt

*hyperlinks and video live at source*

Attorney and author of the brilliant Web of Debt, Ellen Brown, is among the leading US advocates of monetary reform and state-owned banks. Among Ellen’s articles is one worth highlighting for how quickly a national economy can turn from ruin to astounding productivity: Nazi Germany’s direct creation of money to pay for public goods and services.

This fundamental shift allows central government to create debt-free money to pay for full-employment and renewed infrastructure. In addition, if the infrastructure investment causes greater overall productivity than its cost (historically true), then society has the included benefit of decreasing prices.

Specifically, I saw a HUGE rain of white clumps and particles which are either foam-like objects used in a junk shot or methane hydrates.

“We have to show responsibility now.”

Or the ones who sold out the rest of the economy and our national resources and infrastructure to foreign “investors”, committed us to debt-slavery forever and told us that our votes in a national referendum were irrelevant and therefor the people shouldn´t go voting at all?
This just about covers the whole political spectrum of “real” parties from right to left and middle and up and down, the pre-collapse government and the one we have now, the one Icelanders had put in office after their pots and pans revolution, just to be sold out by them to the British government and their banking overlords.

Insider Trading Is Perfectly Legal – But Only For Members Of The U.S. Congress

Did you know that insider trading is perfectly legal in the United States? Well, not for 99.9% of the population. It is actually only a very small percentage of the population that can legally indulge in insider trading - the members of the United States Congress. In fact, a law that would ban insider trading by members of Congress has been stalled for years on Capitol Hill. So why wouldn't lawmakers in Washington D.C. want to apply the same rules to themselves that apply to the rest of us? After all, how are we supposed to respect the integrity of those "serving" in Congress when they are playing by an entirely different set of rules? The American people aren't stupid. They can see what is going on.

THE LIE OF THE CENTURY

"All war is based on deception." -- Sun Tzu, The Art of War

There is nothing new in a government lying to their people to start a war. Indeed because most people prefer living in peace to bloody and horrific death in war, any government that desires to initiate a war usually lies to their people to create the illusion that support for the war is the only possible choice they can make.

WHO IS THE US CONGRESS LISTENING TO?

Well, Israel certainly wants war! But that is Israel. Why would the US Congress, which supposedly exists to serve the will of the AMERICAN people, be obeying the will of Israel?

Well, maybe because Israel's PACs, including lobbying/spying organization AIPAC, are PAYING THEM TO! (And may have used money looted from American investors by Bernie Madoff to do it!)

You heard me. Members of AIPAC, the organization suspected of spying for Israel, donate vast sums of money to the members of US Congress. And the US Congress has sold our young men and women in uniform to go off and fight and die in wars Israel has created.
