Voting for your own executioner!

At this point in time, the myth of the United States of America as a good and decent country has been pretty much vaporized by the constant betrayal of its own citizens and its neverending attacks on the rest of the world. I mean, with a leadership that supervised the demolition of its two tallest buildings as a pretext for making war on the world, abandoned its own people by deliberately sending most of its jobs overseas, and lastly, is about to round up and dispose of all its dissenters in the name of falsified terror threats, how could anyone with a functioning brain lend any degree of support to this political monster in Washington that is clearly and deliberately eating its own tail?

And to make it perfectly clear — deliberately destroying its own country at the behest of a demonic foreign power!

'Terminal F/Chasing Edward Snowden' (2015)

In today's headlines, we've been greeted with news from the increasingly-Orwellian UK government, that Ed Snowden's encrypted files have been cracked by the Russian and the Chinese, forcing the clandestine services of the UK to recall their agents from "hostile countries," albeit noting that "there was no evidence of anyone being harmed."

Webmaster's Commentary:

You mean I wrote stronger encryption systems than Snowden?!? :)

'Back to the Future': US Military Preparing Mobilization to Russian Border States

In a move observers say is sure to exacerbate military tensions with Russia, the Pentagon is poised to send enough tanks and heavy artillery for as many as 5,000 U.S. troops to the Eastern Bloc and Baltic States, the Polish Defense Ministry confirmed on Sunday.

Citing anonymous senior officials briefed on the Pentagon proposal, the New York Timesreports that such approval is likely to come from Defense Sectary Ashton Carter and the White House before the NATO defense ministers’ meeting in Brussels, Belgium later this month.

Duqu 2.0? malware buried into Windows PCs using 'stolen Foxconn certs'

The super-sophisticated malware that infiltrated Kaspersky Labs is more crafty than first imagined.

We're told that the Duqu 2.0 software nasty was signed using legit digital certificates issued to Foxconn – a world-leading Chinese electronics manufacturer, whose customers include Microsoft, Dell, Google, BlackBerry, Amazon, Apple, and Sony. The code-signing was uncovered by researchers at Kaspersky Lab, who are studying their Duqu 2.0 infection.

Windows trusts Foxconn-signed code because the Chinese goliath's certificate was issued by VeriSign, which is a trusted certificate root. Thus, the operating system will happily load and run the Foxconn-signed Duqu 2.0's 64-bit kernel-level driver without setting off any alarms. And that would allow the malware to get complete control over the infected machine.

Chancellor Merkel 'was patient zero' in German govt network hack

The recent cyberattack on the German government began with the compromise of Chancellor Angela Merkel's personal computer, it is alleged.

German newspaper Bild claims Merkel's computer was one of the first systems to be infected with malware linked to miscreants in Russia.

Hackers reportedly used Merkel's computer to send messages to other targets in order to further spread the attack throughout the German government. The newspaper did not mention how Merkel herself may have been infected.

Online password wallet biz LastPass says it has suffered a network security breach, and it is advising its users to change their master passwords.

The digital break-in reportedly happened on Friday afternoon, but many LastPass users are only learning about it now.

"In our investigation, we have found no evidence that encrypted user vault data was taken, nor that LastPass user accounts were accessed," CEO Joe Siegrist said in a blog post on Monday. "The investigation has shown, however, that LastPass account email addresses, password reminders, server per user salts, and authentication hashes were compromised."

Neo-Nazis Receive Medals From Kiev After Being Condemned by US Congress

Robert Parry’s analysis — juxtaposed with the media whitewash of swastika-bedazzled fighters in Ukraine — is a must-read. We think the simple question he begins with is both thought provoking and deeply disturbing:
“When even the hawkish House of Representatives can’t stomach these Nazi storm troopers who have served as Kiev’s tip of the spear against the ethnic Russian population of eastern Ukraine, what does that say about the honesty and integrity of the New York Times when it finds these same Nazis so admirable?”
Or maybe even a more freaky question is: What does it say when Kiev awards medals to the neo-Nazis that even the U.S. Congress — not exactly the most morally upright body on earth — is too squeamish to associate with?

Former US Attorney General Files Brief in Lawsuit Challenging Legality of Iraq War

Sundus Saleh, an Iraqi single mother, is suing members of the George W. Bush administration for their role in the war in Iraq. Saleh has assembled an international team of lawyers, who are requesting the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit hear her claim that the US-led Iraq war was illegal under laws formed from the Nuremberg trials in the wake of World War II.

"The invasion resulted in the total destruction of a beautiful, peaceful country," Saleh told Truthout. "The invasion didn't destroy only the country's infrastructure, buildings and heritage; it destroyed millions of families and their dreams."

Through her pro bono counsel, Comar Law in San Francisco, Saleh filed papers on May 27 urging the Ninth Circuit to review facts and statements made by high-ranking Bush administration officials - including former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Richard Cheney and former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld - during the lead-up to the Iraq war.

Why the Magna Carta anniversary celebrations will be missing two crucial paragraphs

Why have clauses 10 and 11 been airbrushed from history? These were the ones inserted in the original charter to protect widows and underage heirs specifically from Jewish moneylenders by restricting the recovery of debt out of the deceased debtor’s estate.

But they are nowhere to be found in the official Magna Carta Trust website nor the US National Archive website which instead features the text of the later — and much shorter — 1297 version. The two clauses in the original 1215 Great Charter are:

10. If one who has borrowed from the Jews any sum, great or small, die before that loan be repaid, the debt shall not bear interest while the heir is under age, of whomsoever he may hold; and if the debt fall into our hands, we will not take anything except the principal sum contained in the bond.

Israelis Want Genocide Redefined

• Ultimate goal is unfettered annihilation of Lebanese and Palestinians.

For some folks, annihilating an entire people and other crimes against humanity are just fine—so long as they are the perpetrators and not the perpetrated upon. Our readers, on the other hand, being among those who are not sociopathic mass murderers, may be disturbed by the psychotic hubris of the racist, terrorist, genocidal, rogue nuclear state, Israel. While claiming exceptional status—and even another people’s land—because the entire world ostensibly detests them, and the Germans allegedly tried to eliminate them, the Zionists now have approached a new pinnacle of hatred by seeking to overturn international law prohibiting genocide and military attacks on civilian non-combatant populations—including laws those same Zionists helped to create.

The Derivatives Disaster

• Plutocrats push world to financial precipice yet again.

Money should be a medium of exchange only. The ancient Greeks understood this, as did the Christian world until the 16th century when usurers finally convinced pastors and potentates in the “Age of Exploration” that a “small amount” of interest on a loan was reasonable to offset risk of loss. But the trickle became a torrent and then a flood, as money became an “investment,” instead of merely the means of transacting business more efficiently.

Now, in the 21st century, the tidal wave of debt created by unscrupulous plutocrats for personal enrichment and the enslavement of the masses threatens to crush the world. Ironically, it may be today’s Greeks who become the catalyst of destruction when the current derivatives bubble bursts.

Israeli Special Units Brutally Attack Sick Prisoner

Israeli soldiers from the Nahshon special unit Sunday severely assaulted a sick Palestinian prisoner, while he was being transferred to hospital to undergo medical examination.

Prisoner Mohammed Abd Rabo, 29, told a Palestinian Prisoner’s Club (PPC) lawyer, who visited him in the Israeli Nafha jail following the assault, that around 20 soldiers from Nahshon unit severally assualted him for asking them to untie his hands and feet during his transfer to Soroka Medical Center, in Israel, for medical examination.

He said that soldiers brutally attacked him and threw him on the floor before sending him back to jail without taking him to hospital.

Abd Rabo, who was sentenced to 16 years in jail, suffers from what he described as unbearable pain due to chronic stomach pain and vomiting. He said that the Israeli prison administration only provides him with over the counter pain killers.

John Oliver and Helen Mirren destroy Americans’ fairy-tale belief in torture with horrifying children’s tales

On HBO’s Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver took up the unpleasant, and unfortunately mostly ignored, topic of torture in America done under the auspices of the CIA.

Noting that the Senate Intelligence Committee released a 6,700-page investigation of torture, with a 500-page version available to the public, Oliver sought to explain that Americans need to read the available version because they have been “dangerously misinformed” about torture.

With a CBS poll showing the 69 percent of Americans believing that waterboarding is torture and 57 percent believing “aggressive” interrogation techniques help stop terrorist attacks, Oliver set out to point out that not only doesn’t torture work — it may make a comeback since it is only restricted by executive order, which can be tossed out by the next president.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When the US government tortures, or outsources torture, the following happens.

1. The world understands that those values of human decency, democracy, and human rights are only words, and not respected values by this country's government.
2. That every US politician who uses these words, and then backs torture, is a hypocrite of the highest order.
3. The use of torture by the US gives carte blanche to any world leader who doesn't much like us to do the same to American citizens or American military.

Please chew on this last one for awhile, particularly if you have friends or family serving in the US military.

NICARAGUA CANAL PROTEST: THOUSANDS OPPOSE ATLANTIC-PACIFIC PLAN

Thousands of Nicaraguans have held a protest against the planned construction of a canal linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

The $50bn (£32bn) scheme, being built by a Chinese firm, will be longer, deeper and wider than the Panama Canal.

But the demonstrators fear it will have huge environmental costs and force thousands off their land.

Nicaragua's government says the canal will bring vital investment to one of Central America's poorest countries.

Some among the protesters, who were mostly farmers, accused President Daniel Ortega of selling Nicaragua to the Chinese.

Initial site work began last December, with completion due in five years.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It's all about the money; the politicians in Nicaragua give little or no care to the situations of Nicaraguans this is going to hurt than do the political leadership in the US does about what TTP will do to ordinary American citizens, should it actually get passed.

BP AND ROSNEFT TO MAKE $700MN DEAL DESPITE SANCTIONS

Russian oil major Rosneft and BP are close to signing a $700 million deal for BP to acquire a 20 percent stake in the Taas-Yuriakh Siberian oilfield, reports the FT. The deal could be announced this week at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The introduction of EU sanctions against Russia hasn’t scared off the largest European companies, working in the fuel and energy sector, according to the Financial Times.

Besides BP, Italy’s Eni and Norway’s Statoil have already received governmental approval to continue working on joint projects with Rosneft. Shell continues to work with Gazprom Neft over the Salym project in the Siberian Khanty-Mansiysk area and is seeking Dutch government approval for other joint ventures.

The news comes as the G7 claimed they are ready to extend sanctions last week. The announcement was also made just days prior to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, dubbed the ‘Russian Davos’.

POLICE SHOOT MIDDLE SCHOOL KIDS DURING 'TEMS' ACTIVE SHOOTER DRILLS WITH EMS AND FIREFIGHTERS

The Explorers program, a coeducational affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America that began 60 years ago, is training thousands of young people in skills used to confront terrorism, illegal immigration and escalating border violence — an intense ratcheting up of one of the group’s longtime missions to prepare youths for more traditional jobs as police officers and firefighters. (Germany had the Hitler Youth program, which bears a striking resemblance to the "explorer program")

The Explorer training, which leaders say is not intended to be applied outside the simulated Explorer setting, can involve chasing down illegal border crossers as well as more dangerous situations that include facing down terrorists and taking out “active shooters.” In a simulation here of a raid on marijuana field, several Explorers were instructed on how to quiet an obstreperous lookout.

Albuquerque police jailed a middle school special ed student twice because they thought it better to jail disabled kids to than leave them in school, the teenager claims in court.
Sidney Summers, now 18, sued the Albuquerque Police Department and Sgt. Michael Archibeque in Bernalillo County Court, citing two incidents from 2009, when Summers was 12 years old.
Summers claims his arrests and jailings exemplified a culture of discrimination against special education students under Archibeque, who supervised Albuquerque's school resource officers at the time. Archibeque is the only individual defendant.
In his June 10 lawsuit, Summers says he was arrested for childhood temper outbursts in which no one was injured.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is so wrong, on so many levels, that I hardly know where to start.

I have personally worked with special needs kids at a private facility, and know firsthand that nothing reaches these children like love, kindness, and structure. Jailing special needs kids sends absolutely the wrong message, as does not dealing with kids who torment kids like this, and think it is perfectly fine.

This is a really lousy policy on the part of the Albuquerque police, and needs to be changed, STAT!!

Jews, Communists and Genocidal Hate in “Whiteness Studies”

As a general rule, you can be fairly certain that any academic discipline that contains the word ‘studies’ within its title can be immediately dismissed on an intellectual level as involving very little studying and a great deal of leftist indoctrination. The relatively new discipline of ‘Whiteness Studies,’ however, is vastly more toxic than the average contemporary effusions of the bloated academic corpus.

Truvia's Sweet Scam: Highly Processed, GMO, and Contains Hardly Any Stevia

If you’re one of the people who was excited when the “natural” sweetener that was allegedly made from the stevia plant became more commonly available, I’m afraid I have some bad news for you.

All of that hype about the “new” zero-calorie Truvia? All the talk about how natural it is? That’s just not true.

Incidentally, while the FDA has approved this bastardization of stevia, the actual leaf, where the active chemicals are found, is banned from sale as a food additive or sweetener and my only be sold as an “herbal supplement.”

CIA torture appears to have broken spy agency rule on human experimentation

CIA director George Tenet approved abusive interrogation techniques, including waterboarding, designed by CIA contractor psychologists. He further instructed the agency’s health personnel to oversee the brutal interrogations – the beginning of years of controversy, still ongoing, about US torture as a violation of medical ethics.

But the revelation of the guidelines has prompted critics of CIA torture to question how the agency could have ever implemented what it calls “enhanced interrogation techniques” – despite apparently having rules against “research on human subjects” without their informed consent.

Treasury Reveals What JPMorgan Was Really Doing With London Whale Trades

The U.S. Treasury’s Office of Financial Research (OFR), the body created under the Dodd-Frank financial reform legislation to make sure another 2008 epic crash never happened again, quietly released a report last week which not only suggests another 2008-style crash is possible but that regulators will likely be blindsided again.

The report, written by Jill Cetina, John McDonough, and Sriram Rajan, reveals that the big Wall Street banks are ginning up their capital measures by engaging in opaque and potentially dangerous “capital relief trades.”

“The Terrorist Imaginary”: Australia’s Tony Abbott and the ISIS Phenomenon

The terrorist imaginary necessarily requires mutual enforcement. It begins with the idea of a red under the bed, or the monster in the woods. The work for such a monster is essentially done by the fantasist victim, the individual who fears what he or she might become. For those anticipating the next terrorist attack, praise and aggrandisement of the perpetrator’s potential is exactly what is sought. Call them vicious, call them ambitious, and they have notched a few more points on the ideological scoreboard.

2014 Gaza offensive was ‘unfortunate yet lawful’ – Israel ahead of UN probe results

Israel has released a report that argues Operation Protective Edge against Hamas Gaza during the summer of 2014 was lawful, a move aimed at pre-empting the findings of the UN war crimes investigation into the war, which is due to be released this week.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel is in the same mindset as Hillary; thinking like lawyers to evade their crimes. But ordinary people are not lawyers, and politics is perception!

Bipartisan Agreement: Foreign Governments Pay Former Senate Leaders to Sell TPP

While liberal organizations and members of Congress deride the TPP as the biggest boondoggle since NAFTA and President Obama defends it as “the most progressive trade treaty ever,” the influence peddlers who populate K Street see opportunity.

Policy makers aren’t simply facing a lobbying barrage from the typical slate of domestic interest groups. Foreign governments are running sophisticated operations to influence Congress and gather intelligence in Washington as the negotiations proceed.

Iraq Body Count: undercounting death with pro-war cash

An official funding document confirms that the Iraq Body Count (IBC), a widely-respected ‘independent’ antiwar group monitoring Iraq War casualties since its inception in 2003, has received core funding from government agencies complicit in the Iraq War, since 2009. A close review of evidence in the public record also reveals that in 2006, the Pentagon used IBC’s data to legitimise US violence under the military occupation of Iraq.
