"True there were no flashing guns, no bombs, no killings. Revolution . . . doesn't need violence. The general strike, as practiced in Seattle, is of itself the weapon of revolution, all the more dangerous because quiet. To succeed, it must suspend everything, stop the entire life stream of a community...That is to say, it puts the government out of operation. And that is all there is to revolt-no matter how achieved." -- Mayor of Seattle, Washington, during the city's general strike in 1919 (from an article by Howard Zinn in The Progressive magazine, January 2000, p20)

Many Militia Groups Scale Back, Distance Themselves From McVeigh

Though he hoped to spark an armed revolution, Timothy J. McVeigh ended up weakening the anti-government militia movement, whose visible membership has declined since the Oklahoma City bomber’s capture and trial, experts who monitor extremism said yesterday. Militia members expressed a cool indifference about McVeigh’s fate, saying he stigmatized their cause and is no martyr.

A Magnetic Field Applied to the Brain Can Alter People's Sense of Morality

Studies have shown that the right temporo-parietal junction (TPJ) lights up with activity when we engage in moral judgments like evaluating the intentions of another person, indicating the region is important to making moral decisions. But while we like to think we're very consistent in our morality, the MIT team showed that an electromagnetic field applied to the scalp impairs our ability to evaluate the intentions of others, leaving us with little by which to hand down a moral judgment.

Sheik Who Ran $650B Fund Found Dead

The 40-year-old prince had no deputy director at the $650 billion fund, which invests Abu Dhabi's oil revenue. Experts believe his death is likely to spark a power struggle within the emirate's royal family. The sheik wasn't part of the powerful clique controlled by his nephew, the crown prince, who is now expected to attempt to gain control of the fund and consequently control of virtually all of Abu Dhabi's economy.

Just moments after Dr. Martin Luther King was killed by a sniper's bullet, a photographer took the above picture. Dr. King lies on the balcony floor. The witnesses are all pointing in the direction the fatal shot was fired from. There is no confusion among the witnesses as to where the source of the shot was. They are not confused by echoes. There is no uncertainty. All three witnesses are pointing in exactly the same direction.

The official story is that these men are pointing at the bathroom window in the rear of the rooming house from which James Earl Ray is supposed to have fired a gunshot.

But is that where the witnesses are pointing?

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sunday is the anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King. Already the corporate media is cranking up a plethora of TV offerings to reassure the public of the official myths and attack any who dare suggest that just because the US Government and ABCNNBBCBS was caught lying to us all about Saddam's "nookular" bombs is no reason to ever question anything else the government and media have told us!

Is WikiLeaks a CIA/Mossad Front?

WikiLeaks is getting a lot of publicity in anticipation of a classified film Wikileaks claims to have in its possession that shows evidence of a US massacre of civilians. Images have power – think Abu Ghraib, think Mi Lai – and efforts at "perception management" by the department of defence will be much complicated by documentary evidence that leaves little to interpretation or "perception" of a human rights crime committed by US forces. Wikileaks plans to show the video at the National Press Club in Washington, DC on 5 April.

But Wayne Madsen is reporting that WikiLeaks may well be a CIA/Mossad operation.

Then again maybe Madsen is an operative.

Who can you trust?

Cash-Poor Cities Take On Unions

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa once organized for a teacher's union here, and later ran a branch of the American Federation of Government Employees. That makes him an unlikely advocate for cutting the benefits of the city's workers.

But with the city facing a budget deficit that could drain its reserves by summer, Mayor Villaraigosa wants to re-open contract talks with 45,000 cops, firefighters, librarians and other city employees in hopes of persuading them to contribute more to their pensions and health-care costs. His deputy chief of staff, Matt Szabo, puts it bluntly: "Unions have priced themselves out of a job."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Here is my point; The government is cutting costs for all those services we pay taxes for, but still paying full price for weapons of wars and Israel and Wall Street. China 'ready for talks' on new UN sanctions on Iran

The US ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, said China was ready to hold "serious" talks with Western powers on a new UN resolution.

This would mark a policy shift for China, which has strong ties with Iran. China says it wants a peaceful outcome.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This may be a misread. In China, not to talk is considered very impolite. So China is always ready to talk. And they are always ready to listen to any offers that might benefit them.

But China is also shrewd enough to understand that new sanctions cannot force Iran to give up nuclear weapons it does not actually have, and that this "failure" will simply be another US and Israeli justification to launch yet another war of conquest against an unoffensive nation and innocent people.

With its unparalleled views of Central Park and dramatic black-glass façade wrapped in travertine marble, the swooping tower at 9 West 57th Street in Manhattan is among the world's most prestigious business addresses.

Roughly 24 of the building's 50 floors are now vacant, including the top three, according to people familiar with the building. Even in today's dismal real-estate market, the amount of empty space in 9 West, as the building is known, is unique among high-end New York City office towers.

America Is Still Headed Towards Fascism Under Obama

When left-wing icon Naomi Wolf warned that America was heading towards fascism under George W. Bush, characterized by illegal surveillance, arbitrary detention of suspects, and paramilitary martial law, she was lauded, but when she continued to issue the same warning as a result of Obama’s failure to reverse any of those policies, many on the left abandoned support for her.

However, as Wolf’s recent interview with leftist website Alternet makes plain, liberals may finally be starting to understand that both political parties in Washington are part of the problem, not the solution.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A Fascist economy is characterized by profits being kept private, but losses being socialized across the general population.

The Contrarian Trade of the Decade: The US Dollar

Since so much debt is dollar-denominated, then there will be demand for dollars to pay down debt. That is the essence of deleveraging.

And since other assets will be falling as interest rates rise and risk aversion returns with a terrible vengeance, then "cash will be King." Dollars will rise in value, and the best and safest return on capital will be money-market funds or short-term notes.

Rather than doom the dollar, these trends suggest the dollar could rise in purchasing power and demand for years to come. I know this is contrarian, but ponder the distinction between "printing money" and selling bonds/attempting to expand credit in a credit-averse, collateral-impaired system.

Climategate Investigation A Monumental Whitewash

A Parliamentary investigation into the climategate scandal has cleared the scientists involved of any data fixing and subversion of the peer review process, and notes that the scandal provides no evidence to challenge the notion that human activity is causing catastrophic global warming.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This "investigation" took all of one day and consisted of letting the Hadley CRU scientists make up any nonsense they wanted, such as the claim that "Hide the decline" is science-speak for getting rid of erroneous data. (It isn't!)

I would be tempted to dismiss this as an April Fool's day joke but I think the reality is that the government of Great Britain is as desperate to get their hands on carbon-tax revenues as the US Government, coupled with the fact that governments are operating just like the Vatican these days, in that they presume an aura of infallibility which does not allow one to ever admit error.

The Roman Catholic Church is the last place victims of predator priests should turn to. That, according to victims, is how the church got into this mess in the first place. And it’s why victims’ groups are outraged by a new church-sponsored hotline for victims to report alleged crimes.

“Victims should tell loved ones and police first,” said David Clohessy of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, known as SNAP. “Calling the church should be a last resort.”

CLIMATEGATE - Carbon Emissionaries

In 2005, the European Union (EU) put into place a carbon trading scheme. Prices for carbon permits promptly plunged, and have remained depressed since then. The price for a permit to emit a tonne of CO2 went from 21.59 Euros in 2005, to 17.28 in 2006, to 0.68 in 2007, to 2.16 in 2008, to 13.03 in 2009. Today, however, you will be glad to know that some academics declared the scheme a resounding success …

Alleged victim's lawyers: Vatican protected priest

Lawyers representing an alleged victim of sex abuse claim the Vatican instructed church officials in Florida to shelter a priest from Cuba who was later accused of pedophilia.

Attorney Jessica Arbour, who represents an alleged victim of the Rev. Ernesto Garcia-Rubio, released a 1968 letter from the Vatican to the Archdiocese of Miami, stating the cleric had been forced to leave Cuba "because of serious difficulties of a moral nature (homosexuality)."

Arbour contends that the wording of the letter was used at the time as code for pedophilia, though archdiocese officials disputed that.

Neb. Lawmakers Approve Taxpayer 'Wall of Shame'

Taxpayers in Nebraska risk having their names posted on a wall of shame if they don't pay state government what they owe.

Lawmakers on Tuesday gave final approval to a bill (LB879) that would allow the state to post on Web sites the names of taxpayers owing the state more than $20,000.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My sincere thanks to Nebraska for collecting together in one place all the names of people quite likely to be willing to join the revolution in that state! You have just solved a major recruiting problem! :)

Attention FBI: The above is humor. I realize you guys don't have a sense of humor (see "Men in Black"), but this is it.

‘This Time We Went Too Far’

“The least that we owe the people of Gaza is an accurate record of the suffering they endured. No one can bring back the dead or restore the shattered lives of those who survived, but we can still respect the memory of their sacrifice by preserving it intact”

Petrarch vs. Pope Clement VI –

After being evicted from Rome, Pope Clement V (1305-1314) and the entire Christian bureaucracy fled to Avignon, France. Francesco Petrarch, one of Italy’s most famous scholars, lived on the outskirts of Avignon for several years. At some point he set to intentionally observe and record the papal lifestyle, and he left behind one of the most candid descriptions of the Church’s despotism ever printed. Many considered him among the greatest intellectual writers of the age and he was esteemed by nobility throughout Europe, so his rebukes carried weight and had an impact.

Human Caused Global Warming is not being researched; it is being promoted. Al Gore and his fellow investors have spent over a hundred million dollars in creating a crisis of human-caused global warming out of (quite literally) thin air. They are not doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. They expect to reap billions in profits from the trading of Carbon Credits, a "license to pollute" available for a price and subject to brokerage fees. One of the people Al Gore relied on to create this scheme was Ken Lay, late of ENRON, aka the Crooked "E". Al Gore plans to use Carbon Dioxide to do to the world what Ken Lay did to California using electricity; loot the people!

Webmaster's Commentary:

Relinked in light of the one-day "investigation" by the government of Great Britain that has claimed to clear the scientists of all wrongdoing.

The government is starting to act just like the Vatican here!

For a quarter of a century, the Palestinian minority in Israel has celebrated Land Day on 30 March 30 as a protest against Israel’s discriminatory policies toward its one million Palestinian citizens and to underline its collective and individual rights. Land Day, or Yoam al-’Ard in Arabic, is also a commemoration of the bloody confrontations with state “security” forces that took place in 1976 when six Palestinians were killed and some 100 injured.
