THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"It is important to remember that government interference always means either violent action or the threat of such action. The funds that a government spends for whatever purposes are levied by taxation. And taxes are paid because the taxpayers are afraid of offering resistance to the tax gatherers. They know that any disobedience or resistance is hopeless. As long as this is the state of affairs, the government is able to collect the money that it wants to spend. Government is in the last resort the employment of armed men, of policemen, gendarmes, soldiers, prison guards, and hangmen. The essential feature of government is the enforcement of its decrees by beating, killing, and imprisoning. Those who are asking for more government interference are asking ultimately for more compulsion and less freedom." -- Ludwig Von Mises

Egypt is the laughing stock of the world

The coup regime in Egypt continues to insist on making that great country, in all its civilisational and strategic glory, the laughing stock of the world. The people wake up on a daily basis to a new scandal or farce taking place in our beloved land, which will soon no longer be considered great. It has become cursed; cursed with the blood of its innocent citizens flowing in its streets, which were, once upon a time, pure and clean.

Law enforcement routinely forges drug tests to put innocent people behind bars

As reported by MintPress News, a number of prisoners -- perhaps thousands -- could be impacted by a state Supreme Judicial Court decision that noted that scores of drug samples were "mishandled" by law enforcement authorities in a manner that produced "forged" results that led to jail sentences.

In a unanimous ruling, justices found that in cases where convictions were obtained based on evidence tainted by chemist Annie Dookhan, new trials can be sought without added charges or more severe sentences being added as a deterrent.

Senate Recesses Without Passing USA Freedom Act

The USA Freedom Act limits bulk collection by refining the allowable search terms, leaves the data in the hands of telecom companies, rather than shipping it off to government servers, and would create liability protections for the phone companies that provide the information, among other things.

One thing it doesn't do is mandate how long the phone companies have to retain the information. Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.), who opposed the bill, said that lack of a retention mandate could render the program useless if the companies decided not to retain the data.

Veterans Affairs Gun Lock Program Just ‘Another Obama Back Door Gun Control Measure’

Vets who say the wrong thing at the VA get that info turned over to the FBI… now they want them to tell the VA officials how many guns they have so they can have gun locks sent to their homes? If these officials really just cared about vets having protected guns, they would leave the locks in a location at the VA for people to anonymously grab a few. This is obviously something very, very different.

SLIME-MOLD ECONOMICS

But as vast and powerful as the global financial computer system is, it lacks sentience, self-awareness, certainly a conscience, or any sympathy for the humans whose labor provides the raw "food" to feed that system.

NOT SO FAST: Lawyer Wants 'Missing' Clinton Emails Subpoenaed – FROM THE NSA.

Original post.

Vast quantities of our electronic papers and effects are indexed and archived under each of our names (but of course they are not "collected," since collected, it seems, means looked at, not intercepted, diverted, or recorded). This is common knowledge, no matter how many times Mitch "the-content-of-calls-are-not-captured" McConnell Jr. says otherwise.

How many of us, as we daily are forced to witness our government merge with the good old dystopian fiction we were supposed to have read in school, as we realized the chilling literal reality of the surveillance state erected around us, have nervously joked about putting all that data to good use for a change?

Vaccines Have Serious Side Effects - The Institute of Medicine Says So!

As I have long stated, and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) now admits:

"Vaccines are not free from side effects, or "adverse effects""

This admission came after a review of more than 1,000 vaccine studies, which was intended to assess the scientific evidence in the medical literature about specific adverse events associated with eight vaccines for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR); varicella (chickenpox); influenza; hepatitis A; hepatitis B; HPV; diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis (DtaP); and meningococcal. The adverse events selected for IOM review were ones for which people had submitted vaccine injury claims to the federal Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP). A convincing causal relationship was found for 14 adverse events and certain vaccines.

Supreme Court throws out man’s conviction for Facebook rap lyrics about killing his ex-wife

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday threw out the conviction of a Pennsylvania man found guilty of making threatening statements on Facebook to his estranged wife, law enforcement officers and others.

The court ruled 8-1 in favor of Anthony Elonis, who served prison time for posting a series of statements on the social media site in 2010 after his wife left him.

The case touched upon the rise of social media and how people use it to express strongly held feelings. But the legal question decided by the court was that Elonis needed to be aware of the threatening nature of his communication in order to be convicted. Lower courts had said he could be culpable regardless of whether he believed his messages could be viewed as threatening.

How we got duped by fake chocolate science

It’s been a bad month for science. First, a highly-cited study published in Science that found that voters’ opinions on same-sex marriage could be swayed by conversations with openly gay canvassers was retracted after UC Berkeley grad students pointed out irregularities and one of the study’s authors failed to produce the raw data. That author may also have lied about who funded the study. Then, yesterday, science journalist John Bohannon unveiled in io9 how he tricked the world into thinking that eating a daily dose of chocolate could help you shed pounds by publishing a bogus study in the journal International Archives of Medicine.

On Retraction Watch, a site dedicated to tracking scientific papers that are retracted, newly debunked studies are piling up. The reason we keep getting duped is that science isn’t just science anymore. It’s Big Business.

Jun 01 11:09

Who's to blame when fake science gets published?

The now-discredited study got headlines because it offered hope. It seemed to prove that our sense of empathy, our basic humanity, could overcome prejudice and bridge seemingly irreconcilable differences. It was heartwarming, and it was utter bunkum. The good news is that this particular case of scientific fraud isn't going to do much damage to anyone but the people who concocted and published the study. The bad news is that the alleged deception is a symptom of a weakness at the heart of the scientific establishment.

Jun 01 11:09

How did a fake study make it into Science magazine?

Yesterday, “Science” magazine retracted a study published in December that found people’s attitudes toward same-sex marriage were more likely to be changed by face-to-face conversations with gay canvassers over straight ones. It was a study that got quite a bit of pickup in the media. Now that it’s been retracted by a leading journal, it poses questions for the scientific establishment.

Report: NYC Cops Arrested Men for ‘Manspreading’ on the Subway.

New York police allegedly arrested two men for “manspreading” (sitting with their legs far apart) on the subway, according to a report entitled “That’s How They Get You” released by the Police Reform Organizing Project.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The revival of 90s feminist extremism is already getting into ridiculous levels. For those who are too young to remember, the 90s gender feminist movement spawned the meme that all men are rapists, and militant feminists sought not equality of the sexes, but a reversal of roles. Basically, it was non-stop male-bashing, and a hijacking of the original equity-feminism as detailed by Christine Hobbs Sommers' book, "Who Stole Feminism." At one point male-only curfews were suggested, along with the dictum that men should always cross the street when they saw a woman approaching so that she could avoid being frightened by the possibility of being raped. It did get out of control.

Hillary Clinton is betting her ascendency to the White House on what her supporters call "The Vagina Vote"; meaning that all American women will vote for Hillary purely because she is a woman. To bolster that strategy, we are seeing a replay of feminist extremism, and in this case, the idea that a man with his legs apart, although fully clothed and not indicating a sexual interest in a woman, is now offensive and politically incorrect!

Officer Michael T. Slager of the North Charleston Police Department fatally shot Walter L. Scott on April 4 in North Charleston. ABC News Reporter Arrested After Police Said His Camera Put “Their Lives in Danger”

WBRZ-TV reporter Brett Buffington was arrested on Thursday morning for attempting to take photos of a crime scene, and then later “mouthing off” to officer on the scene.

Buffington was charged with interfering with an officer and intimidating a public official. The police claim that Buffington “interfered” with a burglary investigation around 2:30 in the early morning on Thursday.

However, according to the police department’s version of events, Buffington was simply doing his job as a journalist and attempting to investigate a crime just as the police allegedly were.

The police report stated that Buffington disobeyed police officers when they asked him to leave the area, but instead took photos. The officers said that the flash from the camera diverted their attention and put “their lives in danger.”

Congress kowtows to globalists, moves to repeal labeling on meat products to keep Americans in the dark

Gazprom’s top management has made it clear that the company is not going to put the construction of the Turkish Stream on the back burner since it should have the ability to deliver gas to Europe while bypassing Ukraine. This project should be finalized by 2019, and Gazprom has already notified its European partners of its intentions of abandoning the pipeline in Ukraine by this date. Huge Explosion In Latakia Reveals US HRW Hypocrisy

NSA loses power to collect Americans’ phone records after no deal in Senate

The National Security Agency lost its authority at midnight to collect Americans’ phone records in bulk, after Republican Sen. Rand Paul stood in the way of extending the fiercely contested program in an extraordinary Sunday session in the Senate.

But that program and several other post-Sept. 11, 2001 counter-terror measures look likely to be revived within days. With no other options, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reluctantly embraced a House of Representatives-passed bill that would extend the provisions, while also remaking the bulk phone collections program.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The headline is misleading. NSA still has the power to spy on your phone calls and will as long as those data centers remain standing. NSA was in violation of the law when it started building this system back in the 1980s. They will not hesitate to violate the law again. The new USA FREEDOM Act that may be passed now keeps the spying going, but shuffles around just who gets the data to make it look like there has been an improvement, but the real goal is to lull Americans into the false belief that somehow privacy protections have been restored, so that we will not create our own systems of encryption to protect our business secrets from government crooks. It is up to us all to take responsibility for our right to privacy, guaranteed to us under the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution.

The Lancet: What is medicine’s 5 sigma?

“A lot of what is published is incorrect.” I’m not allowed to say who made this remark because we were asked to observe Chatham House rules. We were also asked not to take photographs of slides. Those who worked
for government agencies pleaded that their comments especially remain unquoted, since the forthcoming UK election meant they were living in “purdah”—a chilling state where severe restrictions on freedom of speech are placed on anyone on the government’s payroll. Why the paranoid concern for secrecy and non-attribution? Because this symposium—on the reproducibility and reliability of biomedical research, held at the Wellcome Trust in London last week—touched on one of the most sensitive issues in science today: the idea that something has gone fundamentally wrong with one of our greatest human creations

Webmaster's Commentary:

Basically, this conference, which was not to be talked about, acknowledges that half of the reports issued by professional scientists and government agencies are flat-out wrong, produced as propaganda bolstered by white laboratory coats to promote an agenda, such as human-caused global warming, sell a product such as vaccines for healthy people, protect a bad product like GMOs, or perpetuate religious myths under the guise of science like the Big Bang!

Half!

Just think about that for a moment!

Western governments no longer hide the fact that they’re using jihadists - NATO overthrew Mouamar el-Kadhafi by using al-Qaïda as its its only ground forces; Israël displaced the UN Forces to Golan, and replaced them with al-Nosra; the international anti-Daesh Coalition allowed Palmyra to fall in order to cause more problems for Syria. But while we can understand Western interests, we fail to grasp why and how the jihadists can serve Uncle Sam in the name of the Coran.

Rule By The Corporations — Paul Craig Roberts

The Transatlantic and Transpacific Trade and Investment Partnerships have nothing to do with free trade. “Free trade” is used as a disguise to hide the power these agreements give to corporations to use law suits to overturn sovereign laws of nations that regulate pollution, food safety, GMOs, and minimum wages.

The first thing to understand is that these so-called “partnerships” are not laws written by Congress. The US Constitution gives Congress the authority to legislate, but these laws are being written without the participation of Congress. The laws are being written by corporations solely in the interest of their power and profit. The office of US Trade Representative was created in order to permit corporations to write law that serves only their interests. This fraud on the Constitution and the people is covered up by calling trade laws “treaties.”

Ex-Ambassador Bolton Says Israel Must Strike Iran Soon

Israel must decide soon, he added, because once Iran has the bomb, "any attack would risk nuclear retaliation."

Webmaster's Commentary:

And of COURSE Israel must always have the right to attack other nations with impunity!
