Easily Hacked Voting Systems to be Used in MA Special Election for the U.S. Senate

As the election looms, tempers flare, money is poured into the contest from all sides, and Democrats sweat out what should have been a safe seat for them - a Democrat named Kennedy has held that particular seat for more than the last 50 years - questions about whether the election results can be trusted have already emerged in a race where the stakes couldn't be higher.

The electronic voting systems used in Massachusetts are notoriously plagued with problems and vulnerabilities, and are in violation of federal voting system standards. Moreover, they are sold, programmed, and maintained by a company with a disturbing criminal background.

Gun Salesman of the Decade

Certainly, the rhetoric of an enlightened society groveling at the Federal government’s feet is beginning to wear more than a little thin with the American public. This is evident when considering the annual report of NICS background checks, which are done by the FBI for all pending firearm sales. The following graph for the years 1999 through December 2009 illustrates how many American’s attitude seems to have changed.

ClimateGate: Will the Alarmists Have to go Back to Ice Ages?

Well, friends, the AGW folks are on the ropes, and they are taking a beating. When people can step out of their doors and tell that it’s VERY COLD, they aren’t going to be easily convinced that AGW is happening. When people have free access to international information, they can see that it is VERY COLD all over the northern hemisphere!

Of course, there are some AGW folks that are trying very hard to keep the faith, but they are coming off as increasingly desperate. Al Gore has not been seen much lately. Could the Goracle be in a fetal position, counting the billions he might have made if Cap and Trade had passed? Could “AGW” actually be code for “Al Gore’s Wealth?”

Met Office boss says winter forecasts have been 'very good indeed'

The head of the Met Office yesterday insisted that its recent forecasts had been "very good indeed", and blamed the public for not heeding snow warnings.

John Hirst also defended his £200,000-a-year salary as chief executive of the national forecaster, saying that his pay reflected the success of the organisation.

Mr Hirst dismissed complaints that the Met Office failed to alert the public about the extent of this week's snowfall as not "based in fact", and accused people of ignoring its warnings.

Arrest of Alleged American Spy in Cuba Further Sets Back U.S.-Cuba Relations

The arrest of an American citizen in Cuba on Dec. 4 has dealt another blow to hopes that Cuba and the U.S. could normalize diplomatic relations. The unnamed American was arrested at José Marti International Airport as he tried to board a U.S. –bound flight. Cuban officials say the man has been detained on allegations of espionage, an accusation strongly refuted by U.S. officials. Nevertheless, this latest episodes gives credence to the notion that U.S.-Cuban relations have taken a turn for the worse, and even the most sanguine of optimists agree that the window of opportunity created by the election of Barack Obama is quickly slamming shut...

Canadian Labour from 1880-1920: United by War and Divided by Ego, but Outclassed and Overwhelmed by Capital –

At the turn of the 20th century, Canadian capital?s progressive attack on the sovereignty of the individual crossed boundaries of age, gender, ethnicity and occupation. Lacking the means to combat a covert propaganda war or the munitions to resist federal police, working-class opposition was generally ineffectual. Nonetheless, ideologues championed attempts to alleviate the suffering of poor and the oppression of wage workers. Battles were fought – often in vain – in attempts to secure a living wage, unemployment support and access to employment opportunities, but well-meaning social critics often unintentionally served the interests of capital.

FLASHBACK - Missing Gold

There appear to be no reports of precious metals discovered between November of 2001 and the completion of excavation several months later. Assuming that the above reports described the value of precious metals in the vaults before the attack, and that the $230 million mentioned by Giuliani represented the approximate value of metals recovered, it would seem that at least the better part of a billion dollars worth of precious metals went missing. (It is not plausible, of course, that whatever destroyed the towers vaporized gold and silver, which are dense, inert metals that are extremely unlikely to participate in chemical reactions with other materials.)

Cuba is Missing...From US Reports on the International Response to Haiti’s Earthquake

As for the rest of the US media, they have simply ignored Cuba.

In fact, left unmentioned is the reality that Cuba already had over 400 doctors posted to Haiti to help with the day-to-day health needs of this poorest nation in the Americas, and that those doctors were the first to respond to the disaster, setting up a hospital right next to the main hospital in Port-au-Prince which collapsed in the earthquake.

Far from “doing nothing” about the disaster as the right-wing propagandists at Fox-TV were claiming, Cuba has been one of the most effective and critical responders to the crisis, because it had set up a medical infrastructure before the quake, which was able to mobilize quickly and start treating the victims.

U.S. to further raise airline security, official says

The Department of Homeland Security is further increasing aviation security in response to intelligence indicating Islamist terrorists were planning another attack on the United States.

The new regulations — which are to be announced later Thursday — were not described in detail, but a senior U.S. official told NBC News on condition of anonymity that they would include further in-flight restrictions in passengers’ movement, more random pre-flight screening of passengers and an increase in the number of federal air marshals on flights.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Just when the US needs to not "kneecap" the aviation and hospitality industries any further, what do they do?

This means that now, every one of us is now assumed to be guilty until proven innocent.

Once at the Guantanamo facility, the refugees would be supervised by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which oversees the facility and has contracted the Florida-based Geo Group firm to manage day-to-day operations.

Officials involved with the center emphasized that no decision has been made concerning possible refugees from Haiti, but officials said they are prepared just in case.

Webmaster's Commentary:

After the hell these people have endured, that the US government is even thinking about warehousing themat GITMO betrays a human insensitivity right up there with the callous treatment victims of Hurricane Katrina received.

Possible peacekeeping role for US troops in Haiti

The US relief mission in Haiti remains focused on saving lives but American troops could be called on to help keep order if security deteriorates, officials said.

"At this time we're not seeing any security concerns," a defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP.

But he added: "Soldiers and Marines are trained to conduct security operations if they need to."

Webmaster's Commentary:

As reported in:

Other exports include cocoa and essential oils for the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. Haiti has become a major transshipment point for illegal drug trafficking.

One has to wonder, looking at what happened in Afghanistan after the invasion and occupation, and how illicit drug traffic exploded, if this is why the US sent in soldiers and marines, but not the Army Corp of Engineers.

Report: Turkey warns Lebanon that Israel may be planning attack

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan this week warned Lebanese leaders that Israel may be planning an attack on its northern neighbor, Lebanese sources told the London-based Arabic language daily A-Sharq al-Awsat on Thursday.

At a meeting in Ankara with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri and President Michel Suleiman on Monday, Erdogan declared that Israel was endangering world peace by using exaggerated force against the Palestinians, breaching Lebanon's air space and waters and for not revealing the details of its nuclear program

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel has been testing Lebanon's airspace to see if it can get Lebanon to shoot back as an excuse to start another military confrontation here.

And this time, if Israel attacks, it will go all the way to the Litani River, as they are getting desperately short of clean water.

Secure your checked bags -- fly with a gun

VIA Lew Rockwell

Many airports won't let you effectively lock your suitcases when you fly, and the new limits on carry-on luggage thanks to moisture-terror-hysteria mean it's open season for unscrupulous TSA employees and baggage handlers who want to help themselves to expensive cameras and other valuable in checked bags.

But once you add a gun -- even a starter pistol -- to your luggage, it gets extra-locked, gains new tracking privileges, and is subject to heightened scrutiny all the way to your destination.

Insane air board's new role: Tire Nazis

Too much. CARB is interpeting AB 32 in such absurdly broad fashion it wants to deputize the state's auto boards to bully all vehicle owners. It's too much for Brian Stiver, director of the state Department of Consumer Affairs, and Sherry Mehl, chief of the state Bureau of Auto Repairs:

Unless (Automotive Service Providers) offer the (tire check/inflation) service for free to the consumer and the consumer accepts it, the regulation would have the effect of either forcing the ASPs to check tires without the consent of the consumer in violation of the ... Automotive Repair Act, or force ASPs to refuse to provide any repair services at all to the consumer. These are legally untenable options ...

No Entry For Arabs

Anyone observing Israel these days - and the hazing to which the Turkish ambassador was subjected is only the latest example - sees the neighborhood bully. Anyone who cares about self-preservation will stay away from this hard-hearted, dull-witted madman whose sole guiding principle is "national honor" - or in other words, sowing strife and dissension that undermines the state's interests.

Yet this bull-in-a-china-shop behavior toward other countries is dwarfed by the mad frenzy at home. Ever since they were sworn in, the cabinet and Knesset have been competing over which will make life harder for the state's Arab citizens. And the climax of this frenzy was reached over land.

FBI Times Square Billboard Mirrors Running Man Police State

The FBI’s unveiling of a digital billboard in Times Square as part of an effort to enlist public help in finding suspects and displaying other “security messages” sounds like a hybrid of George Orwell’s 1984 and the wacky dictatorship portrayed in the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie The Running Man.

“The FBI’s most wanted will soon be staring at tourists in Times Square. The agency will unveil a digital billboard there Friday,” reports the Associated Press.

“It will air pictures of fugitives and missing persons. It also will publicize high-priority security messages. Besides criminals, it will draw attention to kidnap victims and missing children. The FBI hopes the public can help find them.”
