"... Secret CIA operations constitute the usually unseen efforts to shore up unjust, unpopular, minority governments, always with the hope that overt military intervention ... will not be necessary. The more successful CIA operations are, the more remote overt intervention becomes, and the more remote become reforms. Latin America in the 1960s is all the proof one needs." -- Philip Agee, CIA Diary, p561

For aggravated rape, battery and attempted sexual battery, with a plea to malfeasance in office and second-degree battery, cop gets probation

EDGARD, La. -- A former lieutenant in the St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Office pleaded guilty Friday to two felony counts and received a sentence of 10 years of probation.

Mutz wasn't satisfied with the deal that allows Schaeffer to avoid prison.

Torturing the Rule of Law

While Congress is sidetracked by who said what to whom and when, our nation finds itself at a crossroads on the issue of torture. We are at a point where we must decide if torture is something that is now going to be considered justifiable and reasonable under certain circumstances, or is America better than that?

“Enhanced interrogation” as some prefer to call it, has been used throughout history, usually by despotic governments, to cruelly punish or to extract politically useful statements from prisoners. Governments that do these things invariably bring shame on themselves.

Bolivia rejects report it is supplying uranium to Iran

Bolivia on Tuesday denied a report by Israel’s Foreign Ministry that it was supplying uranium to Iran for its nuclear program, saying that the country has never produced the element.

“There isn’t even a geological study (of uranium deposits), much less export” of uranium to another country, said Mining Minister Luis Alberto Echazu, according to the Associated Press.

Did Hillary Clinton Threaten UK Over Binyam Mohamed Torture Disclosure?

The identity of the author was one of many questions that bounced around the High Court on Friday, as Mohamed’s lawyers sought once more to challenge the British government’s refusal to release the documents in its possession, but the most interesting little tidbit of information to emerge from these discussions was when one of Mohamed’s barristers referred to the author of the letter as “he,” and a ripple of knowing laughter followed from those who had been informed of the identity of the author, prompting speculation, of course, that “she” was none other than Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State.

Former military interrogator says torture cost hundreds ‘if not thousands’ of American lives

“Torture does not save lives,” Alexander said in his interview. “And the reason why is that our enemies use it, number one, as a recruiting tool…These same foreign fighters who came to Iraq to fight because of torture and abuse….literally cost us hundreds if not thousands of American lives.”

Moreover, Alexander avers that many — as many as 90 percent — of those captured in Iraq said they joined the fight against the United States because of the torture conducted at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If your enemy knows he will be tortured when captured, then he is more willing to fight to the death, making him far more deadly.

To convince your enemy to surrender, they must believe they will be treated humanely after they do so.

MSM: Ohio counties want to use siezed assets to fund services

State legislators ought to make it easier for financially troubled counties to use seized assets from drug cases to pay for essential services, a group that represents Ohio county commissioners said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

... which means the police, instead of fighting crime, will be looking for opportunities to confiscate assets.

We had a case like that a few years back in Malibu, California, in which the police coveted a pricey piece of real estate and decided that if they raided it and found any marijuana plants growing on it, they could confiscate the property under the civil forfeiture laws and balance their departmental budget.

They did not have any evidence against the property owner, of course, but assumed that it would be "likely" to find a marijuana plant on property that large just from a seed dropped by a smoker.

So they raided the place, and the property owner, not aware that the guys in black were cops, tried to defend his home and was killed.

No marijuana was found anywhere on the property.

Folks, what they are talking about here is pillage, where an occupying armed force simply takes what it wants from the population. They may proclaim it just and legal under the rules they make up for themselves, but it is still pillage.

And it will get worse.

The American Form of Government

An explanation of the various forms of government and political systems, and why America is not a democracy, but a republic.

Glossary of definitions:

despotism - a form of government in which the ruler is an absolute dictator (not restricted by a constitution or laws or opposition etc.)

tyranny - the government or rule of a single person (dictator) or absolute ruler.

spectrum - a broad range of varied but related ideas or objects, the individual features of which tend to overlap so as to form a continuous series or sequence

federalist papers - a series of 85 articles advocating the approval of the United States constitution (1780's).

US Economy at Risk for Double-Dip Recession

The U.S. economy appears destined for several years of weak growth and high unemployment that leave it vulnerable to a recession relapse after the massive dose of government stimulus wears off.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Because the stimulus went to the wrong place.

The stimulus was spent to prop up the middlemen, the brokers, and the bankers, and did not address the fundamental problem with the economy, which is the migration of high paying manufacturing jobs to other countries. Nothing has been done to bring those jobs back, and when the bankers have spent their taxpayer-funded loot, the same reality will reassert itself.

The Joy of Conspiracy Denial

Recently I read another stinging rebuke of the 9-11 conspiracy theorists for their frightful mishandling of evidence, their will to believe only what gives them psychological comfort, and their general state of delusion. It was not the first I had read, nor will it be the last. The writer held unwaveringly to the party line: all those who seek to discredit the official, announced version of the events of 9-11 are "conspiracy theorists"- and should not be listened to. That this position constitutes an attempt at prior censorship does not seem to bother the deniers, nor the fact that the central tenets of conspiracy denial are an ad hominem attack. We are told that conspiracy theorists are crazy, or at least cowardly clingers to delusions that they find comforting.

Netanyahu to ‘give up outposts’ for US backing on Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is willing to tear down settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank in return for US backing on its stance on arch-foe Iran, local media reported on Tuesday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Remember when Ariel Sharon promised to get out of Gaza in exchange for the rest of the world turning a blind eye to the building of more settlements in the West Bank? And as soon as the settlements were facts on the ground, Israel went right back into Gaza.

The facts it that once Israel gets what it wants from Obama, the settlements will start building again. Obama probably already knows this, but will accept the promise (empty thought it is) as political cover.

Netanyahu bringing Israel closer to war with Iran

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu considers the lifting of the Iranian nuclear threat his life's mission. Government Experiments on U.S. Soldiers: Shocking Claims Come to Light in New Court Case

That government scientists conducted human experiments at Edgewood is not in question. "The program involved testing of nerve agents, nerve agent antidotes, psychochemicals, and irritants," according to a 1994 General Accounting Office (now the Government Accountability Office) report (PDF). At least 7,800 US servicemen served "as laboratory rats or guinea pigs" at Edgewood, alleges Erspamer's complaint, filed in January in a federal district court in California. The Department of Veterans Affairs has reported that military scientists tested hundreds of chemical and biological substances on them, including VX, tabun, soman, sarin, cyanide, LSD, PCP, and World War I-era blister agents like phosgene and mustard. The full scope of the tests, however, may never be known.

Threats to Judges, Prosecutors Soaring

Adams, a federal judge in Ohio who began taking firearms classes after a federal judge's family was slain in Chicago and takes a pistol to the courthouse on weekends. "If I'm going to carry a firearm, I'd better know how to use it."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Overall, when judges and prosecutors are seen to enforce just laws equally, personal danger is low (never gone completely, of course). But in these times, as the obvious double standard in the way (for example) Michael Vick is treated versus Dick Cheney becomes more obvious, judges and prosecutors are not seen as the upholders of the law, but merely enforcers of the tyrants. It is understandable that patriots might see them as part of the problem rather than a solution to the injustices occurring daily across the land.

Obama’s Guantánamo Appeasement Plan

Obama's plan would backtrack on an early promise to shut down the military commissions. Obama now claims that such commissions can be fair because they will no longer permit the use of evidence obtained by cruel, inhuman or degrading interrogation methods. He fails to mention, however, that the Pentagon is using "clean teams" to re-interrogate people who were previously interrogated using the prohibited methods. When they once again give the same information, it miraculously becomes untainted. Obama also fails to acknowledge that those tried in the military commissions are forbidden from seeing all the evidence against them, a violation of the bedrock principle that the accused must have an opportunity to confront his accusers.

Therefore, in light of the obvious destruction/confiscation of Arab homes without compensation, Israel is in violation of the terms by which it became a member of the United Nations. Israel's membership in the United Nations is therefore null and void.

We should insist that the high-level civilians and generals who ordered, authorized, and put in place the torture in the past regime be prosecuted - just like the low-level uniformed soldiers who did their bidding in Iraq and Bagram who were court-martialed, served or are serving time, and were dishonorably discharged.

Why I am a Climate Realist

What has sea level actually done so far this century? There have been large regional variations, but the global rate has slowed and is currently negative, consistent with measured ocean cooling. Claims to the contrary are exaggerations and not realistic.

So, given my understanding of oceanography, what do I believe about climate change? Firstly climate change is real, and has occurred on Earth for at least 4 billion years – as long as an atmosphere and oceans have existed. Climate change occurs in cycles at various time scales, with the shorter time scales known as weather (by convention the distinction is 35 years). Trying to stop or control climate change is akin to stopping ocean tides.

Scientists have identified genes which control the ageing process in findings which could lead to new drugs to prevent illnesses from heart disease to Alzheimer's.

Professor Linda Partridge, director of the Institute of Healthy Ageing at University College London, claims the research could help treat or delay many diseases simultaneously with medication.

Prof Partridge, who will present a public lecture at the Royal Society in London on Tuesday, said tackling the very causes of ageing rather than treating the symptoms offers the best prospects for dealing with the diseases that result from it.

Dumb, Dumber And Dumbest

The positions of most urban liberals on firearms are dumb, dumber and dumbest. It is dumb to suppose that the way to decrease crime is to make sure all potential victims of violent crime are disarmed. It is dumber yet to believe that a criminal will obey a gun-control law. No bank robber or rapist has ever set out and then stopped and said, “Gosh, I don’t have a permit for this weapon, so I guess I’d better not rob that bank or rape that girl.” No serial killer has ever said: “Gosh, I can’t kill this person with an unregistered weapon. That would be against the law.”

Please help: A survey

Hey! What's all the hype about second amendment? Although I have WAY MORE TO SAY RIGHT THIS SECOND THAN I AM DISCLOSING - I would like to take the liberty to ask each and every American reader to try to buy an AK-47 right now - and report back with whether or not you could purchase it.

Did Bibi Box Obama in?

Washing-machine centrifuges in uranium enrichment facilities disguised as barns and chicken coops! And Americans believed it. And so we were stampeded into war against a nation that did not threaten or attack us, to strip it of weapons it did not even have.

That war has cost 4,500 American dead and 35,000 wounded. It has brought death to perhaps a hundred thousand Iraqis. Four million people have been driven from their homes, 2 million, including half the Christians, into exile. Hundreds of thousands of fatherless Iraqi children are being raised by women widowed by that war.

Undaunted, the War Party has a new war planned for us.

Target: Tehran. And Obama may just have boxed himself in.

Breaking News: Algerian daily confirms Mossad training camps for al-Qaida???

Al-Fayçal summed up the report in a very short and succinct manner: 'Ennahar, the Algerian daily, asserted that the Jewish State is recruiting al-Qaeda Islamists in Europe who originated in the Maghreb (the Maghreb, or the Western part of Africa, is considered to encompass the countries of Morocco, Tunisia, Lybia and Algeria) and providing them with training in Israeli camps, in order to use them in terrorist attacks next summer.

How the FBI Misidentified a Suspected Terrorist Using Fingerprint Evidence

Implicating Mayfield, despite the insistence of the Spanish that his finger-prints were not those found on the detonator bag, gave the FBI potential jurisdiction in the Madrid bombings, which was of signal importance, as it became obvious that the Spanish would not continue to support Washington's and Israel's middle eastern agenda, moving to withdraw its troops from Iraq, even despite the Madrid train bombings. Jurisdiction was important to the FBI in its persistence to continue the serial bogus indictments of patsies by the FBI and the DOJ; concocted in their continued efforts to support and justify the "eternal war on terror".

European Cemeteries for US soldiers , Thousands of Crosses

By Marilyn M. Barnewall
May 25, 2009
[Pictures of cemeteries for US solders in this article. Notice the multitude of crosses. Not a Star of David is shown amongst them. Not that they aren't there, just not that many. And the Zionists keep claiming that nobody tried to help them]

"1927, Star of David Markers JWV was successful in securing passage of
legislation requiring the American Battlefield Monument Commission to place Star of David Markers on the graves of Jewish soldiers buried in war cemeteries in France. Heretofore, the markers were Christian crosses."

A memorial day we can all get behind

Rather than show any respect for veterans, we should use this day to remember those who do deserve to be remembered: those who have been slaughtered by the troops, those whose lives have been permanently destroyed by the troops, those who refused to serve, those who deserted the troops in times of battle, and those who betrayed their own country in times of war.

Now that's a memorial day I could get behind.

Camera grid to log number plates

A national network of cameras and computers automatically logging car number plates will be in place within months, the BBC has learned.

Thousands of Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras are already operating on Britain's roads.

Police forces across England, Wales and Scotland will soon be able to share the information on one central computer.

Officers say it is a useful tool in fighting crime, but critics say the network is secretive and unregulated.

If Obama Cedes Ground on Torture to Cheney, We'll All Pay a Heavy Price

There is not one shred of evidence any intelligence obtained as a result of torture has been used to prevent further attacks. The best intelligence the Bush administration ever had was a month before 9/11, when it received a memo entitled "Bin Laden determined to attack inside the US" from the FBI, warning of "patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings". No torture was involved; no action was taken.

Threats to Judges, Prosecutors Soaring

Threats against the nation's judges and prosecutors have sharply increased, prompting hundreds to get 24-hour protection from armed U.S. marshals. Many federal judges are altering their routes to work, installing security systems at home, shielding their addresses by paying bills at the courthouse or refraining from registering to vote. Some even pack weapons on the bench.

New research paper tells the story of brothels and prostitutes in Nazi concentration camps

The National Socialists ran brothels in the concentration camps. The work of the forced prostitutes was ment to increase the productivity of the inmates. A study shows the little known side of the Nazi terror.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, if the Nazis even let them have some fun to "releave the pressure" and make them work better, it kind of makes you wonder how that fits into the picture of them runnig pure death camps. Question, do prisoners in America right now have brothels in the prisons or the "enemy combatants " in Guantanamo? Don't think so.

We gave all those questions to Mr. Harrit and were really curious how he would respond. He answered. So now, here's the promised interview.

Mass layoffs hit some areas worse than others in 2009.

When Alex Hill and 40 of his colleagues were corralled into a conference room at Dell's Austin, Texas, headquarters last November, he was a little nervous. "I started cracking jokes that gas was going to start coming down in James Bond fashion or something," he said.

Close. Everyone in the room was fired, their jobs shipped overseas. While Hill understands the business reasons behind what happened, the 38-year-old Web designer still feels betrayed. "It kind of felt like I’d made a deal with my company that if I did a good job they wouldn’t fire me," he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Everyone who works for a large corporation now has become expendable, and a potential victim of a bottom line which is way out of line with expectations.

Obama calls for action after NKorea nuclear test

US President Barack Obama said the international community must act after North Korea's "reckless" nuclear and missile tests on Monday, as calls grew for tougher action against Pyongyang.

"North Korea's nuclear ballistic missile programs pose a great threat to the peace and security of the world and I strongly condemn their reckless action," Obama said ahead of a Memorial Day ceremony to honor war dead.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The options the US have are very narrow indeed, and China is apt to veto any strong action at the UN security council level.

But the next time there is some agreement between the the US and North Korea, the US, this time, has got to keep its side of the bargain.

God’s debt cancellation’ donations help evangelist strike it rich

In a detailed investigation of South Carolina’s Inspiration Network, the Charlotte Observer reports that the network’s on-air promises that viewers can obtain prosperity and “God’s debt cancellation” by donating $200 or more have made its CEO David Cerullo a wealthy man and his cable network “one of the world’s fastest growing Christian broadcasters.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

To promise his target demographic this kind of miracle, if they donate $200.00 or more, is defrauding his followers in the most cynical way possible.
