Cancer profiteering? New chemo drug costs $30,000 a month

Big Pharma's pill pushers and natural remedy skeptics are always trying to drill one idea into your brain: "Natural remedies are a ripoff!" they say. "And they aren't even proven to work!"

In response to those skeptics, allow me to introduce a new cancer treatment drug called Folotyn, made by a small drug company named Allos Therapeutics. It costs $30,000 a month. That's a thousand dollars a day, mathematically speaking.

But here's the best part: Folotyn has never been proven to save lives.

Thus, at the end of the day, Redcar will lose its biggest employer and one of the largest manufacturing plants left in Britain. The Weapons Used In Iraq - Afghanistan Have Far Reaching Effects

We have seen the terrible consequences to human life and the environment that has been caused by weapons that contain uranium components. Genetically speaking the US and UK have destroyed the DNA of the Iraqi people as well as causing catastrophic effects on the environment.

Presidents and Prime Ministers really have a lot to answer for when they started the wars in the Balkans, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Gaza and now Pakistan. We are now seeing their continued aggression and intimidation against Iran and North Korea and one wonders that they have up their sleeve.

What we the public do not understand is that these very acts alone and the weapons being used are creating a mass genocide of millions of people around the world.

Media "Distortions"

"News is what someone wants to suppress. Everything else is advertising".
former NBC news President Rubin Frank

Webmaster's Commentary:

The "Warmanistas" from "Al Gore-da" are in constant orgasms over a story running under the AP byline that claims the CRU emails do not reveal any fraud. Apparently the staffers at AP cannot comprehend complex ideas like "Hide the Decline" and “we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment, and it is a travesty that we can't.”

I am certain that the people at AP are unable to read computer code which proves beyond a doubt the manipulation of the results.

I do wonder just how mentally deprived AP's staffers have to be that they cannot look out their windows at one of the harshest winters on record and not suspect something is up.

But then, these are the same bozos that insisted with a straight face that Saddam had nuclear weapons.

It is not a question of whether the corporate media lie. They made that choice to be a "presstitute" the day they accepted that first paycheck. This article simply lists a few of the many instances in which the lies of the presstitutes were found out and should serve as a reminder that reporters, like scientists, will say whatever the people handing them money want them to say.

Change blindness: research and history how Americans are as blind to US fascism as Nazi-era Germans

*hyperlinks and video live at source*

Psychological research demonstrates that large-scale dramatic change can escape attention when the change is unsuspected, unannounced, and agents causing the change act as if nothing is different. Two areas of this cognitive study are “change blindness” and “inattentional blindness.” When we include consideration of “cognitive dissonance,” the rejection of facts when they conflict with important beliefs, we can approach an explanation of how educated citizens could accept fascism when it was unsuspected, unannounced, and the responsible agents fraudulently represented the new government as no different from the old. Cognitive dissonance would deter many people to accept the new reality, even when the facts were clear.

History to Obama: Yes, we have made war on democracies

"America has never fought a war against a democracy, and our closest friends are governments that protect the rights of their citizens." --- President Barack Obama, December 10, 2009

I set out to listen to the president's speech today after only catching bits of it here at work. And to read the text, too, after all, as the Rude Pundit said, this is Obama talking to History. The occasion requires careful attention.

Clearly, Americans listen to Obama differently than the rest of the world listens. But for the people of Latin America, this claim of his is a stomach punch. The window of hope and goodwill and support Barack Obama inspired among progressive Latin American leaders and even among the peoples of Latin America during his campaign just slammed shut.

Preventative Medicine: Go for Checkup, Get Tested for Drugs Without Notice Or Consent?

Saw this in March; by the summer there were first hand accounts. Buried in a WH press release about fighting the drug war in Mexico; emphasis mine.

We are renewing our commitment to reduce the demand for illegal drugs here at home.

* Approximately $5 billion have been committed in the previous year for initiatives to reduce illicit drug use within our borders.
* The Obama Administration is focusing on integrating substance abuse services into national healthcare systems with early screening, diagnosis and intervention as regular preventative medicine to reach the millions of patients who need treatment, and as a means to prevent millions more from becoming dependent.
* Expanding treatment capacity of drug courts in the United States is a priority of the Obama Administration. The FY09 Omnibus includes $63.9 million for drug courts that bring judicial, law enforcement, and treatment communities, as well as other social and public services together with the goal of breaking a non-violent offender’s drug addiction.

Soldiers Forced to Go AWOL for PTSD Care

With a military health care system over-stretched by two ongoing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, more soldiers are deciding to go absent without leave (AWOL) in order to find treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Webmaster's Commentary:

Every single one of our military should get the same level of care that "Dead-Eye" Dick Cheney gets.

That being said, our young men and women in the military are going to be more stressed than in almost any military combat in which the US has participated, because a part of them knows that this time, we are absolutely on the wrong side of history.

The invasion and occupation of Iraq had nothing to do with the safety of We the People: it had everything to do with private profit, allegedly coming from Iraq's oil, which has absolutely not happened at all.

In Afghanistan, the war - again for profit - is about installing the pipelines to control Eurasian oil, and controlling the drug traffic, from which so many profit so handsomely.

Understanding that, and knowing that the Iraqis and Afghans just want their respective countries back, coupled with witnessing the death and destruction these wars are creating, has to make it nearly impossible to go on killing these people with a clear conscience.

The Race Against Israeli Expansionism: Can the Two-State Solution be Saved?

US policy, in line with international law and the international consensus, is fully opposed to Israel's settlement expansion. Nonetheless, the US continues to provided Israel with massive military aid and diplomatic support even as Israel undermines the peace process with unrelenting settlement building. The US is, in effect, supporting the very Israeli policies that it publicly states its opposition to.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And, as William Shakespeare said, aye, there's the rub.

But unless and until the US and the world stops supporting Israel's horrendous behaviour against the Palestinians by cutting off all financial and military aid immediately to Israel, (the absence of money and aid being the only language Tel Aviv understands), absolutely no progress toward true peace in the region can be made.

And that, unfortunately, is something which will only happen when pigs fly.

When it comes to air strikes against the Taliban, there's something about the number 30, says the Security Crank blog.

The unnamed military affairs blogger has published a list of recent air strikes against militants in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and an amazing pattern has emerged: It seems that just about every time an air strike is reported in the news, the Taliban casualty figure cited is 30.

Citing the Moon of Alabama blog, which made a similar argument this spring, Security Crank linked to 12 news reports of separate air strike incidents since the start of the year in which the number of Taliban or insurgent casualties was reported to be 30, in most cases citing US military officials.

Even though Obama supports that agenda, the public backlash against institutionalized science gives Obama the excuse he needs to gut NASA, which means there will be no technology incubators left in the US other than weapons development, which by design withholds innovation from the public.

So NASA, in going along with the Global Warming hoax, may have hoisted with its own petard. Even hard-core supports such as myself are wondering if NASA can ever be trusted to be honest with the public ever again, or if the focus in space development should now shift to the private sector.

CLIMATEGATE - It's a global con job

President Obama flies to Copenhagen next week for a fresh round of taxes and spending. To slay an imaginary beast called "global warming," Obama and other leaders will discuss a treaty that forces industrialized nations to shake themselves down and enrich the developing world. Even worse, Copenhagen occurs as fresh evidence emerges that core scientific findings on global warming are not really scientific.

The Flaming Dumpsters at the End of the Line

They are providing -and aggressively encouraging- free flu vaccines for segments of the population but we are coming to understand what is going on there. The number of Americans on food stamps is inching up to 20% of the population. The job market is bad news and the immediate opportunities lie in military service. Massive war efforts are being financed to stop terrorism, which is routinely being performed by the very people engaged in allegedly stopping terrorism. This money turned to domestic concerns would very swiftly change the climate but… that’s not being done. Some alien intelligence has entered into the minds of the leaders and the wrong way is the right way and the law.

Taking photos of classic scenes such as London buses on Oxford Street at Christmas could lead to happy snappers being 'treated like potential terrorists on reconnaissance missions'

MPs' expenses: MPs exploit loophole to claim thousands without receipts

Dozens of MPs have exploited a loophole in expenses rules to claim thousands of pounds of public money without the need for receipts.

Parliament’s failure to demand proof of purchases for items costing less than £25 led to an abundance of claims for household goods and bills of £24, or just under.

Many MPs submitted several claims each month for miscellaneous items valued between £20 and £25, which were automatically paid because the parliamentary fees office did not have the power to ask to see receipts.

Copenhagen Framework Demands Huge Amounts of Spending, But Allows Enron-Style Accounting Tricks So That Carbon Isn't Actually Reduced

The UN and other agencies calling for a war on global warming say the price tag will be trillions.

But - according to top experts on climate and cap and trade - the regulatory framework being rammed through in America and internationally won't actually reduce carbon to any meaningful degree.

CLIMATEGATE - Phil Jones ADMITS Earth is getting cooler in CRU email!

"The scientific community would come down on me in no
uncertain terms if I said the world had cooled from 1998. OK it has but it is only 7 years of data and it isn't statistically significant."

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, the date DID show a decline, that was concealed in CRU and IPCC's final work products.

U.S. Freezes $2 Billion in Iran Case

More than $2 billion allegedly held on behalf of Iran in Citigroup Inc. accounts were secretly ordered frozen last year by a federal court in Manhattan, in what appears to be the biggest seizure of Iranian assets abroad since the 1979 Islamic revolution.

The legal order, executed 18 months ago by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, is under seal and hasn't been made public.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: They were hoping to provoke Iran into a reckless action and didn't want the dumb American sheeple to know the US started it.

Major makeover of Wall Street regs passes House

The Federal Reserve, criticized for not spotting last year's crisis, would lose power in the legislation. The measure would limit the Fed's unilateral ability to inject large amounts of money into financial institutions. It also would take away the Federal Reserve's consumer regulation authority and would subject it to a broad audit by Congress' investigative arm.

Financial Reform Is Being Gutted ... And Congress Might Not Even Realize It

As I have repeatedly pointed out, proposed derivatives legislation will not make things better:

A leading credit default swap expert (Satyajit Das) says that the new credit default swap regulations not only won't help stabilize the economy, they might actually help to destabilize it.

Senator Cantwell says that the new derivatives legislation is weaker than current regulation

Now, Mike Konzkal points out that the new derivatives bill may be completed gutted, and that Congress might not even realize it:

ClimateGate in Perspective: The Road Ahead

"Public perception of at least honest, objective intentions of the climate alarmists is eroding more quickly than the island nations driven to the point of hysteria by cataclysmic visions of Atlantis. An endpoint to the loss of public confidence cannot be reasonably projected, but further, much further is guaranteed."

The global fallout resulting from the scandalous revelations of ClimateGate cannot be overestimated or overstated. Some of the most prominent scientists promoting climate alarmism are, as evidenced by their own email missives, guilty of unethical, unscientific behavior, at the very least, and possibly much worse.

Bacteria Engineered to Turn Carbon Dioxide Into Liquid Fuel

In a new approach, researchers from the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science have genetically modified a cyanobacterium to consume carbon dioxide and produce the liquid fuel isobutanol, which holds great potential as a gasoline alternative. The reaction is powered directly by energy from sunlight, through photosynthesis.

American would not have won independence from Great Britain without generous military and financial support from France and its monarch, Louis XVI.

But France spent itself into bankruptcy supporting the American colonists. France’s financial ruin was a major cause of the ensuing French Revolution that cost the unfortunate Louis his head.
